‘Wolves are no longer a run-of-the-mill club from the Black Country. We’re a team of disruptors, challengers and the only way is upwards.’
It’ll all be starting up again before we know it so use this betfred sign up offer to back Wolves to do even better next season.
A quote from Laurie Dalrymple at last night’s awards evening (albeit paraphrased), which left the biggest impression on me as a barely believing Wolves fan, at a gargantuan event which was hardly lacking in tub-thumping statements of intent.

It was grandiose, it was glitzy and was unerringly professional, so it’s fair to say that the ceremony in Telford was proportionate to the size of the football club we all must recognise. No messing about, no unfortunate faux-pas to speak of and every facet of the evening working as one to leave a whopping great impression on the general public.
When the extraordinary talents of Moutinho and Jiminez ultimately played second fiddle to an even bigger narrative – on an evening that is geared around those very players in the first place – then you can deduce that this end of season awards night was a thing of some significance.
It was more of an opportunity than an event in the first place, truth be told, as Guo Guangchang was beamed through a ginormous video screen (seamless, of course), while Laurie, Kevin Thelwell and Nuno himself held court in their own inimitable styles, all with a different way of saying the same thing…
…Namely, that we’re looking at the tip of the iceberg.
Once upon a time, the ‘closed’ signs would be flipped over inside the windows at Molineux as dust would settle over the barren summer months. Fans would clamour for a mere sighting of Jelle Van Damme to quench their parched thirsts. Inside a space-age auditorium where the wine and champers flowed, let it be known that those days have gone.
Every day, it appears, is an opportunity to do something special. The work begins in earnest to install new seating in the South Bank, while an ergonomically superior megastore is being prepared in China. Molineux stadium plans have also been progressed significantly, even if renovation work can’t begin as soon as we’d all like. But it’ll happen no doubt, with ‘a stadium fit for the city, the next generation and the next generation after that,’ according to Laurie.
With a seventh-placed finish in the bag and a season to surpass our expectations, the atmosphere was naturally warm and jovial, but Laurie’s tone was still cold and serious enough to remind us all that our football club has just got serious, stating: ‘Think of the progress made in the last three years., and then think of the possibilities in three years’ time and three years after that.’
Fittingly, Nuno said it best, reminding us of the strength of the pack like he did when he first walked through the door clean-shaven.
‘The wolf pack is off for a lie down in the mountains’, he said. ‘From up high, we’ll watch all the prey go into the valleys…
…’And then we’ll run down the mountain and eat them all up.’

Thanks for reporting back mate. Much appreciated as always.
The club is impressive on every level under Fosun and this was another breath of fresh air in the summer meadow that is Wolverhampton Wanderers. Laurie’s words combined with those of Jeff Shi provide even greater confidence (as if that were needed) that Wolves have ambition and the means to deliver.
As with every organisation, rapid growth brings its own challenges, so the stadium redevelopment is a slight concern for me. Just wondering if they can keep the plates spinning, but that’s only because of the meltdown on the pitch while the North Bank was being erected. We shouldn’t compare the two regimes because there is no comparison.
Expectation management could be the other spanner in the works. We’ve been spoilt by relentless progress and football fans always demand more. Setbacks are inevitable, so I just hope when they arrive the key decision makers at the club continue to take the right course of action as they have done pretty much faultlessly for the last two years.
To have achieved what they have done and be sending out a message that the only way is up says everything about where this could be going. These are definitely the days.
“Seamless video screen” sums it up perfectly.
These are the days my friend. Oh yes, these are the days.
Great feed back Ben sends a shiver down your spine enjoy the summer.
Thanks Ben,as always. Found myself singing the Mary Hopkin classic with the words “those” exchanged for”these” and “were” exchanged for “are”………. sounds so much better.
Can’t wait for my season ticket to arrive and Mrs Biles even made a statement the other night about she not seeing me fail to travel to Europe. What a girl, bless her, especially as she does not follow the game herself.
Wolves ay we!
2019/2020 Season = All premier clubs, BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID…
I wonder if the multiple re-development phases of Molineux will dissuade top players from signing.
Will they want to play in a construction zone when a quarter of the fans are not there?
They’ll have to get as much done in the summer break so that it doesn’t look that bad during the regular season.
Here we go once more.
Mr. “Stating the Bleedin’ Obvious” strikes again.
Thanks for your input, Mr “I’ll use a fake name so people won’t realize it’s” Clive.
And I apologize to Clive for assuming it was him.
Sounds like a real evening to remember. A bit like this season.
It gives you a warm feeling inside to think that we are in the safe hands of Jeff, Nuno and Fosun.
On another subject, sorry to hear about Bedders forsaking the Blog.
I think it’s well known that I’m not a fan of the thumbs down button, but if everyone who received a dislike left, there would be no blog.
Apart from Tim of course. He thrives on them.
Very well said Doog. Have a great summer.
I’ll do my best mate.
Same to you.
I could not resist ……. but I remain honest.
Let’s start a petition not to sign any new players or develop the ground. Or indeed clean the toilets. After all we do t want to disrupt a winning formula!
If you tread water too long you sink. We Need to keep swimming.
( Bit Zen for a prawn that)
Just had dinner at the chip shop up the road, 20 miles away, run by a big A…… fan.
Piss takers delight!!!
He is not a happy bunny.
Did you tell him where to stick his saveloy….
He ay got no saveloys, only mooshy pays
Reading that qoute from Nuno brings tears to my eyes. Tears of joy of course. Can’t wait for next season with Nuno’s pack ready to run again.
For those Stripey fans up the road…
You thought you were the Premier,
Well we’ve got news for you,
Your’e playing feckin Luton, the Villa and the blues.
Allez, Allez, Allez.
Allez, Allez, Allez.
Got a big bet on Derby then, Stu? Hopefully they’ll do it just as they made Leeds fall apart again.
Oh yes mate, watched them all this season on tv, it’s Derby for me.
Also much rather go to Derby than Villa park with that snarling bunch of morons.
I shall be wearing my Wolves top next Bank holiday Monday watching the game.
Do you ever feel you need to shake yourself and give yourself a smack alongside the kisser just to make sure you’re actually awake, and this isn’t all some wonderful, but unbelievable, dream.
Mental Health and my new Old Gold Soul.
I’m not your prototypical fan. I didn’t grow up near the Molineux, I’ve no ties to the city whatsoever. In fact the past few years of my fandom have been riddled with indecision and the inability to stick to a team. And the lengths I did to try to “solidify” my support were utterly cringeworthy to say the least. I, was an impulsive wreck. Sometimes I still am. Why am I saying this? It’s Mental Health week and if you know me and what I’ve been through or done the past years you’d probably surmise that I had some issue I was dealing with. You’d be correct, I do. ADD, extreme impulsiveness, indecision, anxiety. Not the best combination of things if your trying to choose a club to support for the rest of your life. Choosing a club is serious. It has to be. It’s tribal and it has weight. It’s something you wanna pass on, it’s something that can take your mind off real world yellow and red cards. I’ve written here in the past, I’ve said similar things, it was my way of expressing myself or maybe shutting some demons up. I’ve claimed to support Wolves, I’ve wavered, comeback, wavered again, tried another club trying to see if the pastures were as green as I thought they really were. I’ve convinced myself numerous times that I’ve found THE club, blogged about it, bragged about it, done that here too. But all paled in comparison to the Everest of indecision I had to battle in my mind, that I often gave in to. Sigh, I did it again I’d often say to myself, made an utter fool of myself again and again. I guess if there was an FA for fans i would’ve been suspended already maybe even banned for good. Rightfully so. BUT.
Great thing about Sport, it teaches us to get back up when we fall face flat on the ground in front of everyone. Great thing about football are all the stories of adversity that players, coaches and fans have to go through, before the taste triumph and victory. Great thing about life is we do get chances to redeem ourselves.
This is my redemption story, during a week where people are encouraged to talk about there struggles, I’m bravely exposing myself here. Because this is the tribe I truly want to be part of. Because out of darkness, light really comes. Because Old Gold somehow has touched this 35 year old’s soul and I can’t do a thing about it.
Basically Jay, you’re a bit of a tart!
Nice one mate, join the club.
Ah yes… Had to look up what that meant, but point taken.
Gonna be a loyal wolf.
Cheers!
‘Out of Darkness cometh light’. It’s so important to remember and believe.
Exactly!
Well done Jay it is a way of life you will have a ball.
Wolves Aye We
Thank you! Cheers!
Welcome Jay,
You are right, in life, as in sport, there are ups and downs but it helps if you have something to fall back on, rely on if you like, and Wolves has been exactly that for me. I too have no affiliation to Wolverhampton but love the team nonetheless. And it doesn’t even matter if we are flying like we are now or back in Div 1 I still take great joy from my support of the Wolves. And nowadays, and for the foreseeable future, there looks like there will be a whole lot more Joy to be had. Strap yourself in Jay and enjoy the ride. Welcome to the pack
Things are definitely looking up. And for you long time fans, deservedly so. Glad to be part of this.
Jay, most of us old farts on here have been supporting Wolves far longer than you have been on this earth, and apart from the last two years, we’ve all suffered with major mental issues, pretty much exclusively Wolves related.
Except Twixfix, but that’s another tale, too long to go into here.
I remember many times, after another Saturday afternoon loss, going home in a mad mood, flinging scarf, program and anything else I could pick up at the time all over the house, screaming I’ll never go there again, useless shower of shit and other words of wisdom, having a lousy Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, but by Wednesday was looking forward to the next weekend and next match.
Only to start the disappointment cycle all over again.
Logic and sanity go out the window when it comes to supporting the Wolves, most of us have Wolverhampton Wanderers in our veins and souls, if you cut us open, there are the words, just like a stick of rock!
Don’t worry or apologize for indecision and doubt, we’ve all been there.
Embrace the moment and enjoy the upcoming years, they are going to blow any lingering cobwebs of worry away.
As Nuno says, the Wolves are in the mountains for the summer, but come next season, they are coming down to devour the prey of the Prem!!
Welcome to the madness of this blog, and don’t worry, there are a lot more crazy fans on here than you!!
Clive,
Well said mate. Thank you.
“Welcome to the madness of this blog, and don’t worry, there are a lot more crazy fans on here than you!!”
Just what I needed to hear.
“the Wolves are in the mountains for the summer, but come next season, they are coming down to devour the prey of the Prem!!”
Awesome.
I’m an anteater called Norman. I live in a shed in Ulaanbataar and I’m not crazy. However, I was bloody pissed off when I went down MacDonalds and ordered a double ant burger. They hadn’t got any.Next time I’m off to Burger King.
Hi cheesey, glad to see you keeping your soh.
Welcome to the nut house, Jay. I dare say most of on here have had their days of darkness but this club of ours has been a constant (irrespective of results) light.
Enjoy the ride!
Thank you!
Sticking with a team can be a good thing. You have to self sacrifice to show love through good and bad times. This shows loyalty, reliability and authenticy. These are big traits which most people value.
Even from afar like uncle Clive or the many many fans who can’t get to the ground for whatever reason, financial, geographical or just too late to the party, we are all fans.
I’m lucky to have had a father and grand father to follow to Wolves. This formed the habit and now I am seeing great benefits. At the moment it’s an almost uninterupted stream of marvel at the magic football we produce. It’s also a pleasure to see and read the great joy expressed by my fellow wolves fans.
So be a Wolves fan son but remember, it’s like a pet, not just for Christmas.
When things go bad you will have to suffer a little knowing that good times will surely return and that you are showing those traits I described. But when things are good it’s a nice little treat for you to brighten the almost inevitable mundanity of modern life. After all what else you going to do to that makes you sing jump clap and embrace your fellow man.
Jay,
Great decision buddy. Where do you live and how often are you able to get to games. Hopefully we can meet up once you have settled into the blog.
Things are definitely looking up. And for you long time fans, deservedly so. Glad to be part of this. Thanks for all the kind words from everyone on the blog. Looking forward to years of support. I’m from Southeast Asia and can only visit once a year to watch. So that specific game will be like the champions league final for me, even it’ll probably just be against Huddersfield at home.
Nice to have you with us Jay. Most of us are a bit mad on here but generally we’re all a friendly lot.
I’ll fit right in then! Cheers!
You guys are solid lot. Thanks for the kind words. I’m finding that supporting Wolves feels a little “bandwagony” for me. I suppose that’s what happens when a new fan hops on when there’s success already, but I’m trying to get over that. Whatever happens, I just wanna say that you guys on this blog deserve all the success Wolves will achieve in the future. Cheers!
I’ve definitely fallen for this club. Bandwagony or not, I don’t care haha. Glad to be part of the pack. Proud even.
Couldn’t get over the bandwagon factor. My apologies. You lot are great. Clubs on the up. Lots to look forward to. As for me. I’m supporting a rival in the championship.
We’ve had a Quantum leap and I’m curious as to where we go from here..You could almost argue that we do not need to buy new players (but do we ?)
Perhaps 3 and rotate …
Champions league nxt year ?..is it really possible ? anyway give or take the cock up at Wembley I’m still reeling at our success…
I look forward to seeing Wolves at Norwich …any one who pops into the Gull Inn 3 miles from the ground will obviously be very welcome…
Happy holidays everyone..

Which mountains would they be?
Steve someone once said that football is the most important of the unimportant things. And if that is true my 7 year old grandson has made one of life’s more important decisions and has announced that Norwich will be his team.
As he lives close to Norwich I am OK with this. So we are hoping to visit the family combined with following Wolves away. If we can meet up that would add to our trip.
Just saw an interview with Jeff Shi. He says that now, Fosun intend to hang onto Wolves long term.
They are no longer looking at it as an investment that they can grow and sell.
Thanks for the write up Ben.
I can only marvel at the journey we are on. My football head was just starting it’s summer slumber, with thoughts turning to cricket at Worcestershire – and then BANG: the awards night has got me all excited again. So much so that I’ve renewed my season ticket and bought tickets for the Asia Trophy.
Crazy or what?
We may well be joining you in China Dougie, we should bump into you over there, I can’t imagine Shanghai is very big? ? ?
It will be great to meet up, Stu. We’re booked in at the Westin in the Bund area.
Ok so we didn’t get to Wembley, so second best is we’re all down here in London taking in a show.
Wreaking havoc in theatre land and face-timing Clive.
On our way
On our way
Into Europe, on we go
How did we get there, I don’t know.
How do we get there, I don’t care
All we know is Wolves are on they’re way.
Proper rogues gallery there!
Glad you are down there supporting City!
Clive I will watch the game this afternoon hoping City annihilate them. Of course this would put us into Europe but also prevent me having to watch the detestable Deeney lifting the cup. To see someone who thinks kicking an opponent is a legitimate tactic so privileged would be unbearable. Add to that his lack of grace following their fortunate win over us disqualifies him from ever being a football hero. If I sound bitter it’s because I am.
COME ON CITEH ….!
Well, that’s it. Wim in Europe. Metallurgist ‘ere we come!
Nah
Shrek could dive six times in the box, he’s used to doing that!!
How do you spell humiliation
Watford!!
Excellent.next stop Derby to dismantle Vile and the diving grease monkey. The season just keeps on giving. FWAW.
From Wolves.co.uk
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will enter next season’s Europa League at the second qualifying round, with the first match in a two-legged tie scheduled to take place on Thursday 25th July. The second leg will be played on Thursday 1st August.
Wolves will find out their opponents during the draw for the second qualifying round which will take place on Wednesday 19th June.
OK! Sometimes you get your wish!
Deeney reduced to the absolutely average player he is. The football world realises what it lost when Wolves missed out on the final. At the very least we’d have made a game of it.
So back to where you belong Watford-Wolves are onwards and upwards-and you return to obscurity.
Pretty damn good week of football.
Liverfool fail to win the league, Leeds and the shit get to spend yet another season in the second division, and dirty, ugly cheating shrek get annihilated and humiliated at Wembley!!
I’ve troyed very hard but can’t work out who you mean by shrek.
I think we can actually win the whole damn thing! I mean, if Arsenal and Chelsea are the finalists,… pfffttt! We got this! Europa cup here we come!
Let’s go Wanderers!!!
Reuters are reporting that hotel bookings in Gdansk for next May have suddenly surged and that, strangely, Wolverhampton seems to be the source of all these bookings.
As a former Boys scout, be prepared I say…
Here’s a brief explanation of the Europa pathway.
https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2019/05/18/wolves-europa-league-qualifers-explained/
It was all over as a competition when the Citeh player lumped it hopefully into the box for the second goal almost as jammy as the ‘superb’ Neves cross at Watford.
From then on the Watford mask was clearly slipping.
Finally in the 90th minute Stones scores the seventh goal, runs to the Citeh bench and grabs the wrestling mask, then runs up to Deeney and screams
“Whats racist about this punk and whats the score”!!!!!!
Lets get Honvid in the second round draw.

Go to the above to see the youngsters in the Hong Kong soccer Sevens to keep your football genes satisfied…
Who is the loser now Troy ? Don’t mask your feelings. You are another Wigan. Stoke. Bolton. Destined to failure. Loser.
Loved the players ratings in the Watford Observer, out of 10. Highlights are:
Deeney 3.
Gomes 5, being the highest rating…
The fans blog is hilarious. They have reality staring them in the face. I loved the one about Deeney giving it large ahead of a match and then going missing.
FA finalists. Poisoned chalice anyone?
Here’s a really hilarious one about the Watford keeper:
Gomes is like a vampire; scared of crosses!
Shame it wasn’t Foster in goal…
Would have been at least 10 if it had been, the wind and lucky punts upfield and all that!!
Too right.
I can image Foster saying 10 times that Man City just lumped the ball in the box and were lucky with the wind.
What’s not to be deIghted with as a Wolves fan.
Wolves first season back in Premier:-
Finish 7th with 57 points.
Beat all six of the top six in league and cup.
Qualify for the Europa league, (Thank you Troy)
U23’s promoted to their premier league.
Academy win the Hong Kong sevens trophy.
Wolves Women finish second in their league.
Conor Ronan wins a two year extension to his contract with stunning displays in Slovakia.
It just keeps going on and on.
And you lucky lot got to see Clive for a whole weekend!!
For every positive there’s a negative, he still didn’t buy me a drink.

Where else – PSG, Bayern or Wolves?
Among the other clubs being spoken of as likely suitors, Bayern Munich are looking for a wide player but Bale does not fit the same age range as their first choice, Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi. Paris St-Germain would probably need to sell one of their own big names to create space, meanwhile, and only one of the Milan clubs will qualify for next season’s Champions League, and both are set for summer upheaval on the coaching front.
One other interesting option for Bale could be Wolves, who have made no secret of their ambition, and who have now qualified for next season’s Europa League.
In the past, given their links to powerful agent Jorge Mendes, Wolves officials have suggested the game’s biggest names would be on their radar if the opportunity arose.
After finishing seventh this season, a move for Bale would be a significant statement of intent.
The bloke is too old, too injury prone, paid too much, and too ugly for us!!
Watford would be a better fit for him, joining all the other uglies in their relegation struggle next season.
Too injury prone and getting paid too much, yes, but I’m not having the too ugly reason as he could always ask to borrow Raul’s mask presuming it’s not already on its way to troysie.
Troy again Clive! They already have one ugly mug at Watford in Deeney.
Next season Watford are only going one way, like a lift on the top floor.
Tim.
Ajax beat Real Madrid
Man Utd beat Ajax
Wolves beat Man Utd (twice)
So if Bale is not good enough for Real Madrid, we don’t want him.
That’s Ambition.
:-).
In the town where I was born. Lived a man called Gareth Bale. And he went to Real Madrid. Where he grew a monkeys head. Gareth Bales got a f**kin monkeys head. A f**kin monkeys head. A f**kin monkeys head. Gareth Bales got a f**kin monkeys head.A f**kin monkeys head. A f**kin monkeys head…………and he is the son of Peter Reid….. Probably.
We don’t want Gareth Bale.
He’s been in Spain for several decades and still hasn’t bothered to learn the lingo.
How long’s it going to take him to talk Yam Yam?
PS. Apologies to all bloggers about the delay in getting the Ballbash video to the big screen. Youtube are being particularly difficult at the moment but, hopefully, all will be revealed soon.
Fans power through the fans Parliament…
Last year I was asked to bring up the matter of the Wolves women’s football team, they each had to find £300 per year to play for the team. They were like nomads with their home ground and every season changed venues.
So I brought the matter up at the fans Parliament, I asked Laurie Dalrymple directly “if Wolves would help the Wolves ladies more as they were doing well in the league and it would be good PR for our ever growing club”.
Laurie was polite, receptive but pointed out, “that Wolves did help the ladies quite a lot, but did promise to see what they could do”
Well bloggers, true to form with this “New Wolves” they certainly did help, I am delighted with their, progressive, decisive and positive action.
Thank you Wolves, yet again.
Please read the link below, an example of Wolves listening to their fans.
https://shekicks.net/wolves-women-further-intergrated-with-wanderers/
Well done Stu in raising this matter, a part of Wolves that too many of us tend to overlook. As you say, true to form Wolves have responded positively and decisively.
After all those barren years under the previous regime how good it is to have senior officers at the club who listen to the fans and respect our parliament.
Maybe,in time, we can hope to see our women’s team competing at the very highest level like the men.
That’s a real positive step for women’s football & just shows how serious Fosun are with the entire project.
Great news.
