It’s funny, you suffer the first defeat in months and find yourself envying the opposition and lamenting your own team’s suddenly obvious shortcomings.
Cynical I know, but that’s just how it goes.
As instrumental as Neves and Moutinho have been for instance, there’s no doubt the mobility and brute power of Abdoulaye Doucouré offered Watford a different dimension.

Wolves don’t possess such physicality in central midfield having readily dispensed with Alfred N’Diaye in the summer, who would surely be a more compelling option than Romain Saiss?
Javi Gracia’s side also showed tactical flexibility in securing the win, whereas Wolves remained steadfast in their approach even at 2-0 down.
All easy to point out in hindsight of course, but defeat represents an opportunity to identify areas this talented squad and head coach can evolve further. I’m sure they’ve been poring over everything at Compton this week.

Brighton
Like Wolves, Brighton have managed to shoot themselves up the table with a couple of 1-0 victories and a rare away win at Newcastle last time out is a big morale boost.
Their other victory, a 3-2 over Man Utd demonstrated just how dangerous they are on their own patch. 7 of their 9 wins last season came at The Amex, which ultimately propelled them to safety.
They hit the magical 40 point mark in their first season back and I imagine Chris Hughton would be happy if they did the same again, but it does seem like they’ve got enough to aim a touch higher.

Glenn Murray remains their talisman and his 5 goals represent 50% of their overall total so they’ll be hoping he recovers from a nasty head injury last weekend to play on Saturday.
The man who replaced Murray in that game, Jürgen Locadia, came within minutes of joining Wolves last season so we’ll be watching his performance keenly.
The odds
Wolves are 6/4 for the win with bet365. Brighton are 19/10 and the draw is 21/10.
Glenn Murray is the odds on first goalscorer despite his injury at 5/1. Raul Jimenez is 11/2 to net his first goal away from Molineux.

Wolves
If you were going to finally make one change, I think Cavaleiro for Jota makes the most sense given how last season’s top scorer has struggled to make an impact of late.

You could even bring Traore in for a first league start at the expense of Costa but that would seem a bit more harsh based on his improved form in recent games.
Vinagre got 45 minutes against Watford and looked really good, but again it would feel ruthless to punish Jonny based on one sluggish half of football.
I think Nuno has to change something though as it doesn’t send the right message to those on the sidelines if he keeps the same team yet again despite a pretty tame defeat.
The poll
Predictions
Zero change in the Prediction League table after Gameweek 9 as not a single person predicted defeat.
But well done to vicsmith who continues to lead the way with 17 points from 9 predictions.
I wonder if such rampant positivity will continue this week? As always, if you’d like to join in leave a prediction in the comment section below, which is where you can read my forecast.
Up The Wolves!

I blame myself for last week, I didn’t make a prediction as I was stuck at work, I’m taking no chances this week and getting in early. I’m putting last week down to a bad day at the office. We all have them. I’d of snapped your arm off had you offered me our posisition at this point. Onwards and upwards.
1-1 for me, can’t see where to fill the score in.
Hi mate. Apologies the prediction boxes didn’t launch when I first published the post so you’ll have to re-enter your score in a new comment if you want it to count towards the Prediction League. Apologies.
Well , I’m positive.. Fosun will have called everyone in and demanded an explanation a to why it happened and what went wrong
Lesson s learned
Wolves to win one nil
No fear. 1~2 Wolves win

Nino doesn’t lose 2 on the trot so this week a convincing win 2-0
No boxes to put scores in this week
Yeah, Thomas, you’re fired!!!

And Wolves to win 5-1, as usual
Any team with a….. in their name deserves a stuffin’!

I’ve got to correct Gold Wolf Sven and apologise to you all, the defeat was totally my fault. I never wear socks in the opposition colours on match day, and thought my green and pink ones would be a safe bet. I had no idea Watford’s away kit is green, and I’m sorry.
The good news is that I don’t even own a pair of blue and white stripy socks, so we should be in no danger this weekend.
Hi mate. Apologies the prediction boxes didn’t launch when I first published the post so you’ll have to re-enter your score in a new comment if you want it to count towards the Prediction League. Apologies.
Sleachy Alert…….
Don’t you get wearing them Green socks again this week.
We’re definitely away, my Brighton mate is taking his 4 yr old son to his first game, I’ve been hearing about it all week.
I asked what he’s gonna do when his son declares that he’s now a Wolves fan at the end of the game, apparently a photo of my face should be enough to scare the lad back into stripes.
So yeah, totally safe, there are obviously no blue and white stripy socks in my drawer, my feet will be ensconced within their usually safe yellow / orange and black matchday options (see where I ran into trouble now?)
We can’t let Gold Wolf Sven and Sleachy take the blame- I am Spartacus! I was co-erced to go with family to Villa Park instead of the Mol and look what happens when your back is turned. Poor game at Villa and Dean Smith is expected to achieve promotion this year with a very porous defence. Never again. Wolves to get back on track with a narrow victory. 0-1.

Hope Nuno gives the starters an opportunity to put it right.
0-0 allday this fixture trust me!

I think fatigue after the international break had guys on half power mentally and physically .
Normal service resumed with a 1-1 draw but better performance.
Jota to take a rest , cav in.
Was impressed with vinegre but jonny to start.
What about , dare I say traore , cav centre and costa? Traore cutting in off left.
Jimenez is quality but maybe a change Is in order, shake it up a bit.
Jota and Jimenez off the bench…not bad

Draw here for me.
Decent point
If Nuno decides to keep the same starting eleven it will be fine by me,
We never lost two on the bounce last year by giving the team that lost the opportunity to put things right
This team have only lost 2 games whilst adjusting to the prem so they deserve at least 45 mins imo
A cagey game this one and I think a one all draw

Should be a very interesting afternoon, with the teamsheet being the first matter of interest. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cav start proceedings but I can’t see Adama replacing Helder yet awhile.
Hopefully Nuno and Thomas will have something in common and both will put things right that have gone a little awry. Nuno will get our team back to winning ways, and Thomas will put the prediction boxes back where they belong. I’ll save my prediction til then.

On occasion last season and on Sat our MF could be be outmuscled if teams got their tactics right.
Whilst I’m not suggested altering our highly successful 3-4-3 formation for a second, I’m intrigued to see how a 3 man MF would work in a 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 system (the WBs remain).
Interesting point about N’Diaye, I think an imposing figure like him in MF would take care of the physical stuff and see Moutinho and Neves enjoy even more of the ball.
Anyhow, I mentioned earlier this week on Twitter how Brighton average just 39.4% possession this season. V a very average Newcastle on Saturday they only achieved 32%.
Moutinho and Neves will want to return to dictating the MF and I think Brighton will prove the perfect opponents.
We’ll enjoy plenty of the ball, especially in the opening exchanges, but it’s about making that pressure count and not letting Brighton into the game.
0-2 to Wolves for me.

Solid comment that, lots of joined-up thinking. Hope you’re right!
Looking forward to attending my 1st match of the season this Saturday. What with our home loss and their away win last time out, l see exactly the same scenario happening this week.
A couple of changes to the starting eleven sounds definitely on the cards in order to crack down on any possible complacency.
3 – 1 to our boys and 3 points heading back to the West Midlands.
Hi mate. Apologies the prediction boxes didn’t launch when I first published the post so you’ll have to re-enter your score in a new comment if you want it to count towards the Prediction League. Apologies.
Thanks Thomas. I’ve said it all above.
Manager of the month curse and Watford’s foxy 4-5-1 lineup are now both water under the bridge.
I’m going to stop predicting Wolves wins anyway though because its hardly ever coming to fruition when I do.
And I won’t say anything rude about the opposition in these comments either, I’ve learned my lesson.
It would be harsh to drop Costa given the effort he’s been putting in but giving Jota a day off is becoming an increasingly fair shout.
1-1
Hi mate. Apologies the prediction boxes didn’t launch when I first published the post so you’ll have to re-enter your score in a new comment if you want it to count towards the Prediction League. Apologies.
No worries, thanks for the heads up.
We will bounce back after that sleepy display from last week. International football took its toll. We need to win this game as we have a few difficult fixtures coming up! Wolves to win 2 to 1.
Hi mate. Apologies the prediction boxes didn’t launch when I first published the post so you’ll have to re-enter your score in a new comment if you want it to count towards the Prediction League. Apologies.
A difficult one to call.
It depends a lot on how the team have taken the ‘bursting bubble’ effect of last week’s defeat.
I’m pretty sure that Nuno will have sorted their heads out as well as putting a fatherly boot up their backsides, so they will be back to the pressing and quick incisive passing that we have come to know and love.
Chris Hughton is a manager that I have admired for years and he’s consistently produced very large rabbits from VERY small hats. Brighton are a good example of his latest trick.
However… I’m going to put my neck on the block and go for a narrow Wolves win.
I would start Cav and rest Diogo. Traore is still, as far as I’m concerned, not ready for ninety minutes. He doesn’t really slot smoothly into our pattern of play and is at his best late on when legs are tiring and play gets broken up more.
I had a dream last night that sandwell were beaten 4-1 at home and Thomas had forgotten to put the prediction boxes on the latest blog.
But that could never happen, could it?
2-1 to Wolves.
Hi mate. Apologies the prediction boxes didn’t launch when I first published the post so you’ll have to re-enter your score in a new comment if you want it to count towards the Prediction League. Apologies.
I hope this isn’t a cunning plan to get twice the number of comments on the blog Thomas.
Mind you, if it is, it’s quite a good one.
Baldrick would have been proud of it.
Tough place to go to , but I think the boys will be fine . After last weeks lacklustre performance I expect a much energised and improved team , with Cav and Costa to start and fly at them from the off …..Then bring on the speed machine for the last 30 mins to scare the shit out of an already tired defence
0 – 2 Wolves win…….COYW
Hi mate. Apologies the prediction boxes didn’t launch when I first published the post so you’ll have to re-enter your score in a new comment if you want it to count towards the Prediction League. Apologies.
See score prediction below…..Can someone answer a burning question for me please…
I understand that Andre Silver is on loan at Seville and is the third highest goal scorer in La Liga…(plus he is apparently best mates with Nevez…..)
What’s stopping Wolves from making a fresh approach for him in January or have we already missed our chance ?
I think Seville have the option to buy at the end of the season [for 35 (?) million euros].
I want to pick a tie but choosing a 1-0 win away from home is too tempting. Jimenez to net the winner.
Manager of the month curse, International duties tiredness, bubble burst etc….. total bollox. We did not play well and Watford did …. simple as that.
Nuno will adjust and sort out as best as he can, and whilst I trust in him I do not see us getting anything from Brighton .
Ah score didn’t post in previous comment.
2-0.
I can never remember if the Yanks are in front of or behind us, but today is, if I am correct, the birthday of one of our most revered and respected bloggers.
He’s been bending our ears with sage words of wisdom and giving us the benefit of his almost encyclopaedic (?) knowledge of the club he loves (not sandwell) for many years now and I would feel honoured to offer my hearty congratulations and best wishes to him on this auspicious and special day.
Happy Birthday mate!
PS. And I think Clive from Houston has his birthday on the same day but it’s probably best left.
Hoping, indeed expecting a big bounce back. Jota continues to struggle and needs a rest so would bring Cav in; he’s usually looked lively coming on as a sub. As others have said Vinagre did well second half against Watford but Jonny deserves enough credit for his previous
performances to start.
Cagey game , going for the score draw
Utw
It would certainly be Cav for Jota for me and I would definitely find a space for Vinagre after last week.
Said it would be tough last week and it will be again this week. Want to go 1-0 to us but will settle for a draw. COYW. (Photo might be too subtle for some…lol)
This error thingy must be catching, I put in the wrong name, should be MILDENHALL WOLF…sorry.
It wouldnt surprise me to see traore and cav start and nuno to try jota and costa as the go too subs towards the end.
Dont see we would have a lot to lose in that case as its just the same but different.
Lightning bolt up their bums before we start and off we go like a rocket .
Brighton wont know whats hit them.
Normal service resumed
posting again to get my prediction in 2-0 wolves
Still confident
Think we will do to them Watford did to us but only one goal
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLIVE FROM HASTINGS TX.
I was hoping to be able to say it first but the Doog got in there just in time.
Have a great day you old whinging Penn exile, not much fun over there watching all that crap on their tv, I know your missing the good old Gold and Black. But you can come over and see Flum on the last game.
I have this shitty feeling we didn’t learn too much from last week so I’m afraid to say this, “but Ifeel we will lose again”.
Brighton 1
Wolves 0
Decoure and Capoue were tremendous, working so hard, here and there for most of the game last week and our players looked decidedly leggy; particularly Neves and Moutino alongside Jimenez imo. But what a wonderful tackle by Neves in the second half. Hughes also had a great game. I think a whole week back together training as a unit will have us back to our best hopefully and I will go for a two one win for Wolves; but what do I know?
Well summarised Robert. Still think that Nuno should have changed it when Watford’s 3 were overrunning the MF to help Ruben and Jao, but what do I know?
Hopefully a week together at Compton will mean business as usual. COMBs!
I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to share the blame for last week’s results with me. Brighton is a tough game there so I’m predicting a draw.
Happy birthday clive of euston station ( thats where he really lives )( platform 9 & 3/4)
In a tent.
So I am told.
This will be tougher than we think, especially after last week.
fivethirtyeight.com have Brighton as favourites for this with a 42% chance of winning, Wolves only 29% chance. But then, that’s pretty much what the stats suggested for us against Watford last week and look how that turned out.
Whatever, I can’t bring myself to forecast us losing and I’m hoping that we replicate last season’s habit of bouncing back after a poor performance.
Also hoping Traore and Cav get a start.
So it’s Cliveyboy’s birthday today and by coincidence it’s also the birthdate of that magnificent man whose bronze statue adorns the outside of the North Bank….yes ..Stan Cullis … Wolves’ greatest manager.
So well done matey for having the good fortune to share this day with a Wolves ‘He’s one of our own’ legends. (Stan would be 102 today … not quite there Clive …but not too far off).
I’m hoping that after a week together we’ve got over last weeks’ shell shocked performance and that we’ve regrouped and worked out a plan to shit on the Seagulls… which will make a pleasant change.
I do see a change or two this time and that’s Cav in for Jota and maybe..just maybe… Dendoncker replacing Bennett… we’ll see.
Whatever the team the 12th man will be there and having a great time.
Wolves to win by the odd goal.. Raul…
Shit on the Seagulls, shit on the Seagulls tonight…
Brighton were something of a bogey side for us a few moons ago – didn’t that upstart Peter Ward score 4 once? – but things have changed. Even so that froggy winger can play a bit and they’re decent at home so
Brighton has never been a happy hunting ground for us in the past so I’m hoping we buck the trend with a sneaky away win.
I have a good feeling about this game — Wolves to score two!!
I hate Brighton they are a bogey side and we went into div 1 there amidst a near riot..
I’m very uneasy this should be a rebound 3 points but the curse still lives..
A draw then
I just thought the international break had come at a bad time for us, as well as the fact that some of our players had been away to play for their country; it seems Watford upped their game a lot from the previous week. I was glad Deeney wasn’t playing, but that didn’t help much! I’ll be glad if Glen Murray doesn’t play tomorrow too, but whatever, I’m betting on Nuno doing whatever he decides will get us back to winning ways.
Wolves 2
Brighton 0
So no-one saw the defeat last week. Shows how confident we got! This one surely is in the bag though.
Watford is always a difficult game and Brighton are to I suppose its because we don’t seem to meet that often over the last few years.
I rember the 2.0 loss at there place that sent us down worse away game I’ve ever been to. Poor old Dean Saunders what a total disaster he was. In all my years supporting Wolves I’ve never seen a Wolves manager so out of his depth than Saunders.
Still that’s history. I meet up with my brother the other day and we could not believe only four years ago we were playing in League One the likes of MK Dons and Swindon that seems like light years ago.
As for the game I think Jonny and Doc looked knackered against Watford. I think Cav should start ahead of Jota you forget how young he and Neves are and a long Championship campaign and now the step up to the Premier seems to have caught up with them a bit may be a stint on the bench to recharge there batteries and bring them on secound half might spark an up turn in form.
Nuno if nothing else won’t leave a stone unturned to get back to winning ways which I think will start at Brighton.
Looking for a positive response and Nuno to make a few changes.
As I was walking through Lower Gornal the other day I was amazed to see Starsky and Hutch zoom up the high street at 278mph. Definitely then. I could tell by the car. Besides when I got in to The Spar supermarket I came across Huggy Bear who was looking at the washing up liquid. Well at least I think it was. I said to him. ‘hey! I just saw Starsky and Hutch go by. Are they after a criminal or something?’. He said ‘yeah dude. Some cats broke in to the launderette and pinched someone’s pants from the washing machine. I think they were Captain Dobey’ S pants. He livid maan ‘ All highly unusual for a Tuesday afternoon in the Black Country. But there you go. It is business as usual this Saturday as Albion will receive a massive thrashing….or was that last night…. Poor old Glenn Murray, who must be as old as Clive will certainly know all about it come 4.50pm. As he leaves the ground in a wheelchair he is so knackered. So it is back to business and BHA 0 WWFC 4. Must dash. Huggy Bear needs directions to Gornal library. He is studying the criminality of stealing pants.
Cheesie,
I’m a little worried you’ll try to frame “next doors cat” if this crime goes to court.
That CANNOT happen.
If it was sent down, who’d be there to shit in your garden?
Rick. haven’t seen next doors cat for a few days. I reckon he doe like the cold. OR he is Albion -hence the no show after the 4-1 defeat.
Can’t remember the last time we lost two on the trot, hopefully they have learned from the defeat. I think it’s time to try changes up front as we are woeful in front of goal.
Draw 1-1
Some men are born great
Others have greatness thrust upon them.
Clive from Preston’s new shirt.
Stu,
That looks similar to one of mine that gets ironed over a wok
A setback last week alright and Brighton is not an easy team to move on to next. Jota is still a shadow of his real self and we just don’t score enough goals, which puts real pressure on the defence of course.
Add to that a shrewd opposition manager in Chris Hughton and I’m afraid I’m going for a 2-0 win for Brighton. Hope to God I’m wrong of course.
Nuno doesn’t lose two in a row… sounds great, but it is a pretty small sample and will not last forever. Our inability to score goals always leaves us at risk
I remember us loosing the odd game last season & calls for change, new striker, et all.
I think we’ve seen & heard that Nuno won’t consider “changing his/our way” – and more to it “why would we”
9th in the league, 15 points from 9 games, held the manc’s to a draw.
Played some of THE best footie I’ve ever seen from a team in gold & black.
MOTM curse, international break, tired players, changes required!!!!
Nar – Nuno knows best, he doesn’t need me to tell him what or how to do it.
Let’s let other teams worry about Wolves, play how we can play (no not like last week!!) & knock fek out Brighton & Hove shadow dodgers.
PS – apy b’day CfH
Tossing between a draw and a slender win. Don’t think there will be much in it. Gonna settle for a draw. Yep that’s what I’m gonna do!
Another tough place to visit.
Draw for me I think.
Talk about egg on my face ,easy peasy indeed! Got that one wrong. Methinks the pendulum might be swinging and I think we will come unstuck on the South Coast returning only with a stick of rock. Playing Jota when we are winning is a luxury, playing him when we are losing shows a worrying inflexibility.
Hopefully he will be on the bench and Ivan or Adama will start. If so ,a draw. If not a loss.
Nuno may keep the same team and put it down to the international break, Jimenez effectively played on Thurs in Mexico and then Sat. Wolves back to form.
Interesting preview Thomas – one I tend to go along with. Wondering if Brighton will overload midfield. They have a few injury worries and if Murray is out I’m not sure where the goals would come from. Despite that they are a difficult side at home. A point would be a decent result. Two big games to follow.
A late neves free kick to seal the deal.
Brighton have made the Amex something of a fortress against non top 6 sides but we’ve also shown we’re no mugs on the road. To use the cliche, this one could go either way so i’ll opt to get splinters and sit on the fence.
Hoping last week was just one of those days. Brighton are tough to beat at home so a draw.
After an arduous long haul we’ve made it Bangkok, on the first leg of our mini tour of South East Asia. I’m not sure my better half is so keen but I’m hoping to catch the game tomorrow at 9pm local time.
I’d be surprised if Nuno makes more than the odd change but it would be good to see Cavaleiro in the starting lineup.
Wolves back to winning ways.
keeping feet on the ground for this , hopefully we dig in and get a win
Last week was a reminder that there are a few decent “mid table” sides in the EPL that can give you a dicking if you have an off day. We deserved to lose but I think that having so many players away on international duty was a mitigating factor.
Brighton are another decent side (as are we) so tomorrow will be difficult. I expect to see an improved performance as Nuno will have analysed last week to death and I think that we will see at least one unforced change – Cav in for Jota.
Would love to see a win but I expect a respectable draw.
I think Watford are just a touch above a decent mid-table side, and probably more equivalent in level to Everton. No disgrace losing to them but they represent where we should aspire to be at the moment.
Could be our boys will send a massive, belated B’day prezzie to Clive with a handsome victory and three points for him in the prediction league.
Not confident enough to predict it myself though, so I’ll be a little more reserved.
I hear Glenn Murray might not be fit for the match. Funny how a cast off striker has done so well at Brighton. He was labelled just championship material after leaving, was it Bournemouth I think? There must be a lesson in this when a more talented player like Jota hasn’t made the step up to the PL yet. Jota’s 17 goals last season will add fuel to the fire that his level was the championship, but I hope not. I wouldn’t give up on him but I’d bench him for a few games.
Nuno had a good run with the record unchanged squad but now a couple of changes must be made. Traore and Cav deserve a start but Costa deserves to keep his start. Over to you Nuno!
We bounced back well from defeat last season and I’m backing this to continue. For the Prediction League I’d go for a draw but my heart says a 2-1 win.
In the mystic of semi sleep I wondered if Nuno would change it around for Brighton.
He played Johnny on the right and dropped Doherty, Vinagre on the left with cav and dropped jota and the big one WAS…. traore played straight down the middle in place of Jimenez.
If it didnt work all three were still on the bench to return to normal.
Traore got a hatrick !
I would really like to see traore as an out and out on the last shoulder striker I feel his unbelievable speed is wasted on the wing as he is just too fast for everyone else.
His goal against west ham a good example of his amazing pace and power.
Vardy springs to mind when he leaves defenders for dead .
It was just a dream I had last night trying to sort out our lack of goals.
Brighton’s 4-4-1-1 formation means Neves and Moutinho could find themselves outnumbered again in midfield so its important for the back 3 to squeeze up early on.
I don’t see Nuno making more than 2 changes (if any) as he clearly values continuity. Most likely ? Cav for Jota, Vinagre for ‘Fidel’ or, an outside bet, Saiss for Moutinho. The real dilemma is that ideally we would start with Traore in an away fixture when there should be more space for him to operate in, but conversely he doesn’t yet have the defensive discipline that is needed when playing away and absorbing pressure. I’d be happy with a point from this one.
Fidel? Ah, Castro. For a moment I thought you were suggesting Vinaigre take over as head coach given Nuno’s beard resembles that of Fidel Castro!
By no stretch of the imagination could I ever call myself an animal lover.
But, this is oh so satisfying to watch.
https://mobile.twitter.com/clintfalin/status/1055538301845864449
I think we’ll bounce back this week, come on me babbies!!!
Just because we have lost a game there is no need to panic and change things. Costa does not deserve to be dropped and Jota will prove himself. We are fortunate to have a strong bench and can introduce players as necessary during the game, if we need to.
Wolves to grab a narrow victory.
Onward’s & Upwards
🙂
Think Wolves will get something but Brighton will also be up for it so I’ll plump for a draw.
Like to be different though so ………..
Couldn’t get tv coverage of watford game so had to listen to live sport commentary which was excruciating
My take is that to an extent we have been rumbled and other teams will
Have taken note of how to overpower our midfield …so another phase coming in the chess game.. your move Nuno
I dont think
The formation will change but likely the starters…..with spurs and arsenal coming its key that we use Brighton game to fine tune
Think a draw .. hope a win
We will bounce back from last week no doubt. But Cav should start in place of Jota who seems to have lost all his confidence.
Nuno will have sorted them out this week at Compton and normal service will be resumed on the South Coast
Still sure the Wolves have got what it takes to keep moving forward.
Last week was a big wake up call.
We know we have a good back line , but forwards still not finishing. I would like to see Traore give a chance in the starting line up and fed the ball, as he has such great potential.
But, still hats of to our coach, who we trust in to make the best decisions.
Very annoying, can’t post anything!
Here we go again!
We need some action from the forwards.
It’s pointless lamenting the departures of Baz and big Alf now; they’ve gone! I still can’t fathom why Saiss wasn’t brought on to bolster the midfield but hopefully Nuno won’t leave Joao and Ruby that exposed again.
Jota out for me, at least until Cav’ tires in the 70th minute and an earlier intro’ for the Pamplona Express please, Nuno. Let’s give Brighton something to worry about.
Still think we’ll win, usual prediction.
UTW
I might end up down in Brighton tomorrow, even though I couldn’t get a ticket. It’ll feel weird walking round the Lanes knowing the Wolves are playing up the road at Falmer. I’m going to predict a draw though, with Nuno steadying the ship again.
I’m working on a theory that last week, our Catholic players were distracted as they went onto the pitch and didn’t pray hard enough.
This is similar to my theory that Diogo has to up his prayer game. Other team’s players are saying Premier League quality prayers and God is choosing them over him when both players are involved in one-on-ones.
Actually, I think Diogo took the correct approach last week. He has to fight the perception that he can’t take physical play by being physical himself. If someone looks like they are going to bump you, put your shoulder down, lean into it and drive with your back leg – like an American football running back. Then just give them a Clint Eastwood stare and walk away. Don’t show frustration or overreact. Keep your cool.
It might be worth it for him to get a few yellow cards in order to change the perception of him as being soft or not liking the rough going and so maybe Nuno should start him and tell him to be very physical and get a yellow card and then pull him. His reputation for the rest of his career is worth a yellow card suspension or two and it would give him a rest.
………and the chances are if he did that he would get a straight red which would really give us a chance of 3 points eh!!?
In hockey it’s called incidental contact. You just don’t admit it was intentional.
I’m not saying to do it to the extreme example of a running back, just using that as an example of what I mean.
You say you were cutting that way and he cut the same way. Nothing you could do. Why should he be the one to fall down? He has equal right to that space.
Or you just say he was lunging toward you and you had to reposition your body to protect yourself so you wouldn’t get a concussion.
Obviously, he has to understand what the limitations are so that it is not a direct red card and so he can use the plausible deniability route.
Wolves play football not hockey.
Been swotting up on Wikipedia again Tim?
Think Tim has been a bit too near the priest’s incense burners this week.
Next he’ll be having Diogo wearing boxing gloves and smacking the ref upside the head and saying “It wern’t me, ref, ‘onest”
Has he ever been to a match, you reckon?
I`m making a spag bol sat pm with sky sport on in the background and fully expect our black and gold heroes to win this game. It will be made easier if their key striker is ruled out with concussion, as he should be. Hope the weather is fine on the south coast for the travelling fans, the day made even better by taking the three points.
Going for a loss tomorrow I will be there in the home end sitting in my hands, if u are getting a train remember bus replacement from three bridges not good
I would give cav a start
Brighton decent at home
No need to panic still plenty to be positive about and for me I would not be rushing to change the starting 11 and I don’t expect Nuno to either he is big on continuity. Brighton have a few injuries to worry about so u expect us to get something out the game
Been savouring the delights of the South coast this week building up to the match tomorrow, Nearly 200 miles and have a boggie fan on the next table in the hotel at meal times. I have got a surprise in store for him at breakfast in the morning when I come down in my Wolves top!
Stu can you text me the result of the U23 tonight? Cheers
Thanks everyone for birthday wishes, and the cards from them wot sent them.
Twixfix swears he mailed one, but they obviously dont sell stamps in Stafford.
Cheesy, tell your neighbour if he cant find his cat to look under your tyres!
Why does every English team with A….. in their name play in Tesco bags?
Anyrode, three points tomorrow and Potchetino and Spurms put on notice of their impending thrashing next week.
5-1 to me babbeez
Draw for me. Brighton strong at home but I back us to bounce back and get a result, as we always seem to do after a defeat.
When you look at our injury record last season and so far this season (touch wood), it was obviously not just us being lucky.

I’ve a lot of respect for Chris Hughton & his teams always try their best. Won’t be an easy game.
I would drop Jota to the bench & start Cav, Jota can always go on later if needed. We need to start finding the net more often.
Hoping for 3 points but would take a draw.
COYW
Brighton not a happy hunting ground for us, but I’m backing Nuno to have us ready to bounce back.
I expect to see Cavaleiro start, probably for Jota, but would not be surprised to see the same team start either.
This will be a rough tough game, but I fancy us to pinch 3 points with a 0-1 victory.
At prediction tea-time today we asked the five year old “What do you want to do?” She said “Too-too!”
I think it’s a lavatory joke she’s got from school.
So we’re going with it.
Haven’t got many right recently so am going for a defeat in the hope that my bad run continues. COYW naturally – prove me wrong please!
I’m sure we will be desperate to make up for last weeks drop in performance, so going for another 1-0.
Take a look at this guys and gals, Niall Ennis collecting the ball in the Wolves half before setting off on a run and finishing with style, to put Wolves 2-1 up against Man U, putting them back at the top of the league.

Tonight’s attendance at Molineux was 2,741.
Great support for Rob Edwards’ U23s! Thank you!
Amazing attendance for the U23’s lads, well done all who came along, the 12th man at Molineux is rocking.
Wow – he looks a special talent from that clip Stu!
The future looks good with some of the kids coming through.
COMBs!
When ar was a kid we never beat Brighton. Fermus hove fan Des Lynam was on Grandstand on a Saturday afternoon, we played em 13 times while he was on and we never won once including a run a 9 straight defeats. A proper bogey.
Well Des, B&H are back in the big time and so are Wolves. I dont know if your a regular these days but anyway I really hope we can spoil your Saturday afternoon and start a nice run of results against you ourselves.
A little shuffle of the wolf pack is probably in order but whatever the team I expect us to come up trump’s. We have so much talent and I’m sure they will be champing at the bit to put last week behind us.
I have a soft spot for Brighton, I lived there for 3 years and am going back next year, so have a lot of mates who follow them. When I first got there I was obviously upset that the local team play in blue and white stripes and are called a****n, but the day we got relegated there the home crowd applauded our fans and sang “you stupid bastards, you’ve let your fans down” to our players, which was nice.
Anyway, football! Brighton are a tough proposition at home; they have some dangerous players and will look to hurt us. BUT! As pointed out quite excellently by Paddy earlier on, they will surrender a lot of possession to us, meaning Neves and Moutinho will be able to impose themselves on the game a little more. Hopefully we can convert possession into goals!
I’m not convinced we’ll see Cav from the start, Nuno has tended to start the same team that lost the previous week to give them a chance to put it right, and he’s been rewarded with points every time.
Neves hasn’t scored since the opening day, so I fancy him to ping a worldy in top bins, first half. Then we’ll boss the game and Cav will score from the bench for 2-0.
Shit on the Seagulls!
Here’s hoping Chris Hughton hasn’t watched the video of the Watford match or that Nuno has a plan to prevent our midfield being over run again.
We don’t do 2 losses in a row……
0-1 away win for me
We are destined to win this game
Score
Wolves3 – 1
As the BBC used to say in the old days of black and white telly, ” normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.” Come on mighty Wolves.
Despite a self warning when making my score prediction last week, I fell into the trap of complacency. A defeat against Watford had not entered my head and I had not envisaged so many of our players having an “off day” at the same time. With the Watford team seemingly being below full strength, with suspensions & injuries, and key players not selected, I wrongly thought our task would have been made easier. HOW WRONG WAS THAT?
Brighton are no mugs. They have a good manager and some decent players. With or without Glenn Murray playing today it will be a stern test. How will we react after last week – I don’t know for sure. I remain concerned about our lack of goals (scored). We need someone to ignite the goal-scoring flame to set us on our way – someone to take the bull by the horns and convince me that we have a recognised threat, rather than some of the limp attempts we have witnessed so far. It’s fine playing entertaining football but the end result has to be converting chances and scoring enough goals to defeat the opposition.
My heart says we will draw 1-1 but my head is saying a 2-0 loss. This week I’m going with my head and hope to have egg on my face come 5.00pm.
It’s a draw for me. Brighton in good form. We cannot afford losing on 2 consecutive games and will dig deep.
We are strong away and Brighton strong at home so should be a good game.
Hope Nuno has Plan B if our midfield gets overrun again.
Cav for Jota the only change for me.
We’ve always responded positively after a defeat under Nuno and this week will be no different. Come on wolves help me have a better Saturday night than last week
Happy to take a draw today, as Brighton are a good team at home. Would love a win obviously, especially as my boss is a Brighton fan.
BBC Radio 5 going behind the scenes at Wolves, 12.35 lunchtime today.
I dreamt last night that we won this 4-0 so I’ve been thinking about changing my prediction.
However, as I also dreamt that Christina Trevanion and Emilia Fox were fighting over who got to sleep with me, I’ve decided to stick with 2-0.
If we do win 4-0, I’m going to have a bath . . . . just in case!
Didn’t see the Watford result coming, the whole team seem to have an off day. Looking back, perhaps it was one game too many for those on international duty and changes should of been made. I think Nuno will give the usual suspects one more chance today to see how they respond before tinkering. Defeat last week has reset my expectations, we aren’t unbeatable and I think we will suffer another one today.
Hard to call today and a bit distracted by a new puppy to give this one the usual thought and attention.
We don’t lose two in a row so that rules out one result.
They’re useful at home and are well backed…think I’m going to have to go for a draw but think it’s equally possible we’ll edge them out.
Predicting a Wolves loss, so if they win or draw it will be a bonus.
Perhaps the prediction league will be updated with my correct results.
Everything has been said.
Tough place for us to go but Nuno is changing our future and ignoring our bogey teams and places. So fingers crossed.
COYW
Think we will see a rejuvenated wolves after last week, but tough place to go
See what happens. I don’t put a prediction in, and we lost!!
It’s surreal: I’m sitting in my hotel bar in Bangkok watching Wolves on a Twitter feed @West HamPass6 (wizistreams link). Wolves are playing well but Brighton should have scored from one of their few chances.
Travesty of a result. Not worried. You see Brighton who were shit hanging on to a one nil. We will be fine.
Stats, I feckin hate them.
Wolves 25 shots at goal 0
Brighton 1 shot at goal 1
There’s no justice.
Ah well, me, Jen De Wolf and Mr & Mrs Lowes are drowning our sorrows with a few sherbets in Crawley tonight.
Now your’e 67 Clive, even you can see we need some potent firepower infront of goal.
Just not good enough.
We are dominating games and still coming away with nowt.
In Nuno I trust.
Stu,
You ever come away from a game & thought “how the fek have we not got all three points” this was one of those
Still it was a much better overall performance than Watford.
It was like the Alamo.
Even Davy Crockett would have scored.
Nial Ennis for a first team start anyone?
Cheesie,
We need someone who knows where the spoutsac is & plays with no-fear for the prem defences he’ll come up against.
Nial Ennis would certainly ticks both the above but Nuno will surely want a proven 1st Tranter!
For me it’s a good shout.
Thanks for agreeing Brompton..
WTF – Cheesie? Doogie! FFS WTF
AND
“1st teamer – NOT TRANTER” – WTF
I need to drink less, read clearly & respond accordingly.
Derrrrrrrrr
On the way home (a very long way with no points) from Brighton reflecting on “man of the match”
Was given to a geriatric with only 1 shot & a serious amount of fouling, shirt pulling & ref arguing.
Given the amount of shots stopped or smothered for B&Ha & the amount of time wasting efforts then there keeper should have been clearly their MOTM
As for Wolves, I’d give it the 12th. man.
I’d also say if we play majority of games like today, then we should be able to retain the 1.5 points per game.
