You probably shouldn’t feel overly confident when you’re about to play a team that have only lost twice all season.

Furthermore our current record against sides in the top six currently reads drawn four, lost two.
But after successive victories and with a ‘nothing to lose’ approach, you just wonder whether Wolves can cause an upset on the south coast?
Wins over Reading and Charlton dug us out of trouble but a positive result against the early season pacesetters would feel infinitely more significant.
Brighton
After that lightning start the Seagulls have only managed three wins in their last 10 league matches and are now back in the play-off pack.
Having now lost a couple of matches and suffered some injuries, it will be interesting to see if they can last the pace.
I wasn’t overly impressed when they came to Molineux earlier in the season. They were solid but didn’t look like world beaters, even when Wolves were reduced to ten.
That said, teams don’t put long undefeated runs together in the Championship if they haven’t discovered the right formula.
Rajiv van La Parra has been helping them out with a few goals, but he’ll sit this one out to further test the depth of Chris Hughton’s squad.
Wolves
Given that Kenny Jackett didn’t make any changes for Charlton, it seems unlikely he’ll move things around for this one.

Grant Holt has departed so that frees up space on the bench for someone to move up the ladder. Whether or not new signing Michal Zyro is eligible on New Year’s day, I’m not sure.
Speaking of the winger, it seems likely one of our wide men will disappear in January to accommodate the Pole. Will van La Parra be sold? Will Ojo be sent back? Both?
Either way, our attacking players have consistently produced of late, which means we’re carrying requisite threat to win matches.
Predictions
It’s definitely a good time to be playing Brighton. They’re wobbling and we should be feeling good about life again after a decent Christmas.
But prior to losing their last two home matches, they’d won eight and drawn two, so it’s still fair to describe the Amex as a fortress.
A draw would complete a solid period of form, but I think we could do even better.
2-1.
Up The Wolves!

New year, new hope. Two consecutive wins with two consecutive clean sheets and playing a team bang out of form who can’t buy a goal at the moment. Maybe it is the alcohol still coursing through my system from the Charlton game but even with our poor record at Brighton I am going for a narrow, hard fought win. Graham to score. Could be Afobe’s last game? Too much to hope for I guess that we might see Bright on? (Geddit?)
Happy New Year to all Wolves bloggers, fanatics, maniacs, supporters, followers, fans and nutcases.
9 points from three Games..is it possible ?..of course but it can only be if we stop them from scoring as I reckon we should be worth at least 1 goal..
Graham has to be heavily marked but he must be chomping particularly as we are making moves to contract him apparently ..besides tearing down the wing with great crosses he is extremely good at set plays..
Player of the season?
I feel Our success will revolve around Kmac Henry and Coady with Edwards some where in there..ie when we can push forward..
Then there is the DB/ EBL factor…mmm.
Im going for a ‘scrape it’ by 1 goal ….
New year, New optimism !!
Happy New Year Bloggers
It does seem as if Afobe will be away sooner rather than later, so a parting goal or few would be most welcome. I’m just disappointed that he hasn’t been supported on the field as much as I would have liked. Ploughing a lone furrow up top doesn’t bring the best out of him.
A win would be absolutely brilliant but I will be more than happy with an away draw.
Happy New Year all.
Two victories, two clean sheets and by all accounts EEL played OK against Charlton.
Will Kenny resist the urge to tinker with a winning formula – I hope so.
I am predicting a narrow victory to start the New Year on a high.
Just finished watching the fireworks over Sydney Harbour. Happy New Year to everyone.
Yeah, I’ve just seen it too on the BBC news. 🙂
A score draw for me will be a very acceptable festive period points haul.
This is a really difficult game to call. A look at the league table and there’s only one winner, and it ain’t us. But recent results beg to differ. They’re in a slump and we’re enjoying a mini-revival. They are awash with injuries and we, apart from a couple of long termers, have a clean bill of health. They’ve forgotten the art of scoring goals. Our new, slightly more defensive approach seems to have tightened us up considerably in that department.
So, the omens look promising, which is always a bit worrying.
The biggest question for me is, can I drag myself out of bed in time on a New Years Day to get to the pub by 3o’clock. I don’t think I’ll be knocked over in the rush.
Anybody know of a website I can pick up to watch the game in Washington DC please?
Last time I went to Brighton was for a pre season friendly, which we won 2-0
I went with Mark Davies, who had a business meeting while I was forced to sit on the beach watching the nudists.
Someone had to do it!!
It is probably a bit too cold to be nudizing, but I’m sure somebody will be taking a New Years Dip
Talking of dips, Brighton are having one now, so lets hope we can be festively generous and help them keep it going.
We have the unfortunate knack, however, of usually ending other team’s barren runs, but, new year, new beginnings
A stonking 5-1 hammering will warm everyone’s cockles, and I have the feeling the first result of 2016 will produce three points for us.
A very Happy New Year to all of you, friends and critics alike, and especially to The Doogle, hope all goes well over the next few months.
I have earned enough brownie points, so I can buy a plane ticket for the Bloggers Ball in May
FOwb
Cheers Clive. And a Happy New Year to you too.
I was in bed last night at ten o’clock with a nice hot cup of tea.
Rock and Roll!!
Here’s hoping our new-found defensive solidity wasn’t a flash in the pan.
Hoping we can start 2016 as we ended 2015. Well as a Wolves fan that’;s all we ever seem to do hope.
A narrow win will do for me though I would be happy with a draw.
The Vultures are circling over the mollynew (Oops sorry) and a certain Jordan Graham is attracting a lot of attention. Now if I was ambitious as I’m sure young Graham is, I would be well aware of goings on and would turn in a cracking performance.
There is another certain lad that is ambitious and lots of clubs are going for, again if I were Mr Afobe also I would turn in a good performance which would do my aspirations no harm at all.
Mr Zyro cannot play until 2nd Jan so there’s another reason for a certain Mr Byrne to turn in a good performance.
If as I suspect there is even a modicum of truth here, these guys putting in a good shift will do us no harm what so ever against Brigtht on (yes please)
SoI will be there with my long suffering wife, and I feel we can snatch a well fought win. This league does not inspire me greatly and we are all capable of beating any team.
A Very Happy New Year to all you great folk on here, the banter is great and each and everyone of you made my year in 2015,
Onwards to Brighton the future will follow.
🙂
Messaging in from sunny Cape Town after a stonking win for England in Durban, I’m in an optimistic frame of mind. Shortly we will be heading to V&A waterfront for NYE. Then day one of Cape Town test on Saturday after a very relaxing New Year’s Day. What could be more perfect? A win in Brighton of course. I’m going for 2-0 to us, being the same score that condemned us to League One a couple of years ago. I was at the Amex stadium that day and the Wolves fans were fantastic, singing about going to Shrewsbury the next season. That was the last match in the blighted reign of Dean Shambles, the last ever manager solely chosen by genius Morgan. Come on Kenny, we’re on the up and Brighton are on the way down. Let’s prove it in time for the Chinese menu at Molineux.
Spent a day at the SA v Australia Test in 2014 – fab experience. Newlands is every bit as lovely as they say, so I’m envious – have a great day. And if you get time, head out to The Codfather restaurant in Camps Bay.
Could we possibly keep 3 clean sheets in a row, highly unlikely I`m afraid, although I still think with a positive outlook we could get the three points tomorrow.
Interesting Norwich have been linked with a move for a 29 year old Everton striker although they may still come back in for Afobe, and with the rumour mill coming into overdrive with the January window nearly upon us, maybe we are due for a few changes in January. Lets hope these will be in the boardroom and on the playing staff also, lets wait and see.
Happy New Year to all my fellow bloggers, lets hope 2016 gets off to a 3 point start on the south coast tomorrow.
Happy new year everyone. I’ll be happy with a draw, I don’t want to get too carried away with our recent wins, a lucky win and a win against a poor team.
There is an old saying in football something about don’t change a winning side and I expect KJ to stick to that mantra tomorrow.
Wolves will win 3 -1 with Graham netting at some stage (well that’s the bet I have placed at the local Corals so I am sticking with it). I really do like the look of this youngster.
Wingers have always done it for me, whether they have played in the old gold or indeed at other clubs.
I suppose the doyen of them all has to be self confessed Wolves fan George Best – who recalls witnessing the grainy black and white images of Wolves’ European exploits on early television in his neighbours house in Belfast in the 1950’s. For me Best remains the finest footballer I have ever seen “in the flesh” so to speak. Some of his games v Wolves in the 1960’s are captured on YouTube and are well worth a peek. How he played like that on some of the worst mud heaps imaginable with what was essentially a medicine ball really defies logic. (Mind you that maxim applies to a large number of very skilful footballers including those at our beloved Wolves).
We are very fortunate at Molineux to have been blessed with some fabulous wingers over the years and here are just a few to evoke memories amongst us all…
Mullen and Hancocks who raced over the Molineux mud – like greyhounds at Monmore Green – and shot like centre forwards. Hancocks in particular could hammer the sodden waterlogged ball as if it had been fired from a Howitzer. Dad used to wax lyrical about these pair. Mullen played 486 times for Wolves and Hancocks 378. Great servants and played a major part in establishing THE team of all time – “Cullis’s team”.
Terry “Piggy” Wharton – played 241 times for Wolves and netted an astonishing 79 goals. Had a fearsome right foot shot which he employed to good effect. Well remember those two early goals v Man Yoo in the FA Cup 5th Round in 1966 before Best, Law et al destroyed us. Made the number 7 shirt his own after…..
Norman Deeley, the diminutive Black Country lad who had a playing record that bears remarkable similarity to Wharton – 237 appearances and scored 75 goals. Scored two in the 1960 FA Cup final win over Blackburn and moved onto Orient when Stan signed Peter McParland and introduced Wharton and Hinton.
Dave Wagstaffe – ahh “Waggy” my out and out favourite number 11. Caretaker manger Andy Beattie signed him from Manchester City in the Autumn of 1964 and whilst he could do little to prevent Wolves from relegation that season new manager Ronnie Allen deployed him to provide the ammunition for the likes of Mcllmoyle and Dougan and he never really looked back after that. Waggy illuminated many a bleak mid winter Black Country Saturday afternoon with that cultured left peg putting the ball on a tanner from 40 yards. Opposing full backs only ever saw his arse after he had nutmegged ’em. For me one of his greatest games was at The Handsworth Hovel in March 1971 – the centenary Black Country derby. Waggy simply tore apart the albion right back (John Kaye?) and they were forced to move over Wilson to stop/cripple him. Made absolutely no difference – Wolves and Waggy won 4-2. He was the first player in English football to receive a red card when sent off v Bolton in 1976 and made 404 appearances for Wolves before his transfer to Blackburn in 1976. Superb memories.
Robbie Dennison – a winger “right for the time”. Graham Turner acquired Robbie for £20k from albion and he slotted in so well during the Bull/Mutch era. He supplied telling balls for both and in 1989/90 played in every game. Made 316 + 37 sub appearances for Wolves and was a joy to watch – netted in the 1988 Sherpa Van final at Wembley to send 48,000 Wolves supporters barmy.
Others to think about include
Alan Hinton – made 75 appearances but never really cut the mustard and subsequently joined Nottingham Forest in 1964 and then onto the Clough/Taylor revolution at Derby where he started wearing white boots when black boots were definitely the norm!! Won 3 England caps.
Mark Kennedy… play off final at Cardiff need I say more!
Steve Froggatt – really pacy but jinxed with injuries. Ran the shit ragged in 1996 at the Hovel.
Kightly and Jarvis – for me McCarthy’s best signings – brilliant in the 2008/9 promotion season – especially Kightly. (I watched the DVD of that promotion campaign a few weeks ago and I had simply forgotten how influential these pair were).
Steve Kindon – powerfully built and super quick winger whom I seem to recall won the footballers 100 meters race in Edinburgh in 10.7 seconds – near enough to an Olympic qualifying time. Made 131 + 36 sub appearances and scored 31 goals – remember THAT one v Arsenal in April 1974…good job the North Bank was there to stop him otherwise he was off towards Stafford.
Bakary Sako – Gave us 3 seasons and I don’t blame him for trying his luck at Palace. Blew hot and cold at times but it was his unpredictability that charmed me.
Jordan Graham – hopefully I will be writing about his wonderful career 15 seasons from now!!!!
Just a few to ponder.
Happy New Year to one and all.
BOG
Above anything, Waggy was always a tryer, I don’t think I ever saw him put in less than 100% effort. My earliest memory of him was at Maine Road when he was still at City – a tackle by Eddie Stuart splattered him into the wall which was quite a way from the touch line. He got up and carried on … as I said – always a tryer.
Thanks for the memories.
That match was when the term “twisted blood” was coined about John Kaye.
I was there, and I ay loffed so much since the house fell on me sister.
Hellfire there are some positive people on here. I was set to predict a 3-1 loss. but you guys have filled me with optimism! So instead I’ll go for a narrow loss = sorry 🙁
Happy new year to everyone on this site, hopefully the second half of the season will see new owners, new ceo and lots of new investment and the PL in 2017.
The same side with the defence stopping the opposition scoring, a late goal from dangerous dave to reinforce a mid table position for this season.
No matter how well or not l we played two wins as made Christmas much happier, hopefully the confidence can carry on now. A point here would be good then a few reinforcements before the next game and who knows we can start to look up the league. And please Mr Morgaan/Moxey no big sales.
Brighton may have had most of their allotted success for this season and may eventually struggle to stay in the play-offs. On paper they still seem favourites to beat us … but then so were Newcastle Utd when a certain Mr Bull got four in the second half. So let’s look forward to a result that surprises everyone except us ….. and to better things in 2016.
Happy New Year to all fellow supporters and especially to Wolvesblog contributors everywhere.
Is seemed inevitable that Wednesday would blow the hoodoo away at our place, I’m feeling the same hoodoo busting turn from us tomorrow. Onwards and upwards for Wolves into 2016. Lets hope this time next year we have new owners, renewed investment and a bright future ahead. Happy new year Wolves fans.
hillsborough even, the new year drinks are kicking in early!
pass me the scotch …
I hear it’s all over twitter Wolves have signed Williamson for £250,000.
Absolute steal, God I love Jez Moxey.
🙂 ?????
I think we may sneak it…
Optimistic.
Hope we get Williamson….
Happy New Year to everyone…..
I’ll settle for a draw but I would much rather have a solid win to start off 2016 in style.
Happy New Year to all fellow bloggers.
Come on Wolves.
Happy new year you lot !
WOLVES to win this , see you there
For the first time this season I got the score right v Charlton, so now I’m on a winning streak look for 3 wins on the bounce!
Back to normal I’m afraid?
Feeling a bit heady this am after a right good Kiwi New Years Eve. My head feels as though it’s upside down on my shoulders.
Not much thought going into this coz of brain malfunction…. Happy New Year to you all …..
Hiya Clive …. Couldn’t get thro on FaceTime … Have a great New Year’s Eve and Fowb … Xx
Twixo, your head always looks upside down anyriad, and as you are down under, it should be normal !!
Ha ha
All this talk of our best players getting on their bikes is getting me down. Put up the closed sign and just bring back Williamson. Brilliant post by BOG, must have a memory like an elephant.
Happy new year to you all.
That’s coz he looks like one – massive great long hooter and enormous ears! Just don’t offer him a bun!
Or even anyroad
Didn’t see Charlton but we were poor against Reading.
I once predicted a 3-0 away win at Brentford, when we were in league 1, and blow me down I got it right. I don’t think I’ve achieved that distinction since, so I’m going for glory again. Let’s start 2016 on a positive note. Personally, 2015 has been shit, so I’m hoping to guide my beloved team on to glory as positive news hopefully comes my way.
Happy New Year to all bloggers. Generally speaking this is my favourite read of the week, despite the inevitable occasional miserable Black Country bastards. ( sorry, I’ve had a couple of gins).
Can’t see us keeping another clean sheet, otherwise Steve Showcase will have a heart attack. And, whilst we have won two on the bounce, they were against no-one special so ……………
Happy new year Brompton..! Very true can you imagine the Alamo with DB pushing and EBL wondering where the ball is..it’s coming and Stu’s down there with Jen ready to shut his eyes..
Roll on Williamson..
Should of been there myself…could be an upset.
Sorry to leave this year on a downer (or is it reality?).
For Wolves to sign Mike Williamson there will have to be either
1. a change in club policy – by paying him wages above our norm (and remember Jez has been working towards next year’s much reduced budget – selling Stearman and signing only Div 1 or 2 players)
OR
2. Williamson accepting a much reduced wage packet.
Of course Jez could get round it by signing him on loan to the end of the season and then saying goodbye but would Williamson go for that.
All will be revealed next year.
Starting the new year with an away win, though it will be a tough game to win we are in a confident mode after two victories on the trot. Winning always boosts confidence no matter how they are come by.
I have family visiting tomorrow so I will have to record the match and watch it in the evening, not ideal but hey it’s family and it’s new years day.
Happy new year to all the bloggers and I wish you and Wolves all the very best for 2016.
🙂
With 2 wins in the bag over this festive period, I would love us to make it 3,but I will settle for a draw.
With the new year looming in a few hours time I hope and wish we get the New Owners who ever they may be in ASAP.
My only worry is,Poxey may have his dirty mits all over any takeover bids.ie,still running things his way.
And it that happens we may as well call it a day..sorry to be so pessimistic.UTW.
All the best for the new year to all wolves blogger’s everywhere.
WOLVES AY WE.
Bugger the predicting! Mellowed by bubbly, great red wine and an excellent rib of beef, I’ll just wish all bloggers, of all the types listed at the top by Bedford, plus Clive as well, an exceptionally happy New Year and a sparkling future for the Wolves! Oh, and I predict we might win tmw.
Peter Ward hat trick
We always lose at Brighton and it’s not normally even a close game.
Sticking with the fact that my predictions have been awful this season so happy to predict a defeat.
Happy New Year fellow bloggers
Good Old Channel BeIN…we’re on telly again!! Its Comcast #429 on West Coast..not sure how to help fan looking in Washington DC but see if local cable has channel BeIN?
Meantime thanks to BOG for a trip down memory lane. I was there at Baggies when Waggy ran riot…will never forget floor shaking whenever ball landed at his feet….also seemed to remember Doog being carried off during a pre-match warm up at Molineux after he was hit on the back of the head by a Steve Kindon “cross” he never saw coming…or am I making that up? Kindon had a kick like a mule.
Meantime what’s happening tomorrow? History between these teams has a lot of 1-1 draws and that’s the best I can hopefully see for us …will be amazed if we keep a third clean sheet.
Still can’t fathom how the romance with Afobe has gone sour..
Having been away for the last 2 games and the wife banning all communication with the outside world, I’m back I’m not one for technology or at least I thought I wasn’t but boy am I glad to get hold of a lap top again.
If this is what happens when I go away then ill go away more often. 2 cracking results Reading more by luck than still from what I gather but even champions need a bit of luck on there way to the title and no dout if Brighton win the title they will agree.
I agree with Thomas I think we could sneak under Brightons radar and come away with all 3 points but a draw would be a decent result also but I’m going for a win I just hope Kenny is thinking the same way….?
23.53 pm Happy new year all bloggers and readers ..lets put 2015 into touch..
This Year is going to be a big one..
all be it re the new owners but it could be ..just could be ..yes really ..a late run at the play offs..
If that’s a stupid thought we have got to experience change in 2016 and with Wolves it should be life changing ones..
Cheers
COYW
Wolves unbeaten so far this year
Happy New Year everyone. Let’ s start on a positive note with a smash and grab.
I have to agree with BOG on George Best, what a fabulous player he was, i personaly can not think of a more skillfull player ever, but maybe someone else can, it’s such a pitty he was overcome by alcahol, such a waste of a man with so much God given talent, in the end.
On to Brighton, i’ve been trying all week to think of why Wolves will beat them, but the best i can come up with is Brightons recent dip in form, then i noticed there squad is depleted, but dammit its about time Wolves started beating them and on a more regular basis.
So i’m going for a Wolves win, but i’d take a draw all day long of course.
Happy New year to all bloggers, just started to blog myself but have been reading for a couple of years, well , Sherpa van final , bully at Newcastle and Steve kindon, it’s all here today , I remember match of the day beating burnley away 5 0 if my grey cells aren’t deserting me and kindon ploughing through the mud , can’t quite remember the name of there ground atm though, anyway something that struck me today was how many on here are well actually not here! If you get my drift , kiwi New Years , Sydney fireworks, Cape town cricket, I’m in Bali arm but would happily swap my factor 15 for my new wolves scarf today and be on the terrace at Brighton but will have to settle for staring at my iPhone till about midnight and then try to get to sleep whilst working out where we are in the league!! I’m also going to be positive and go for 2 1 to wolves , also I sh just point out now that if I do reply to any comments, it’s n me being rude , it’s just that I’m slipping in X out of wifi here , I’m also strictly a one finger at a time typist and this has already taken 20 minutes, ha Phew , time for a swim
Oops almost forgot, happy new year and a big thanks to Thomas, Ben and all associated with what is easily the best wolves blog around. Utw
Sorry, a couple of wins against poor oppo does not a season make. We’m in relegation danger. This game is not going to help.
I think even a weakened Brighton team will be too good for us.
HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE AND ALL…
My heart says Wolves to win 2-1 and to begin their push towards a play off birth, finishing 4th….
But my head says, that even with positive results behind us, and confidence up, a good Brighton side will test us, and one side will need to pinch a point in the dying stages….
#UTW
Still worried about Danny & EEL and hate to be so negative.
COYW!
Two wins as made Xmas much happier and a draw at Brighton will set us up hopefully for a great new year. A couple of decent buys and no major sales please Mr Moxey then we can start looking up the league
Decent point to keep us mid-table.
Even tho Brighton are a depleted team at the moment, this will be still be a proper test.
With a poor display against Reading and playing a very poor team in Charlton I wouldn’t get too excited about our current form unless be beat Brighton today.
Hope we can get a result a draw would be good but I just can’t see it.
I’m shortly going off to my daily appointment with the nasty machine.
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all the readers and contributors to this blog a very Happy New Year and a stonkingly good 2016.
You’ve got to love Wolves supporters, haven’t you?
Last week we were heading for non league status and now a good proportion of us are predicting a win against the mighty Brighton and a Champions League spot in a couple of years time at the new Molineux.
And who am I to buck the optimistic trend?
Let’s go for it!
We’ll give em an extra shout for you Mark. Good luck buddy.
When you get a minute, drop me an e-mail with your address.
🙂
Best wishes mate, let’s hope 2016 is going to be a fantastic year for all sorts of reasons.
Amen to that!
Three points at Brighton’s a decent start.
This has been the toughest season in the prediction league i can remember i have crashed and burned. When i predict a win or draw we have usually lost when i predict a loss we usually draw. Cant quite feel the optimism but
i was on here in the Premier years which might be casting its shadow.
Happy New Year to all the bloggers you are good company and its bound to be an interesting.
Brighton’s form dipping, ours improving. Just have a sneaky feeling about this one.
Never again. Everything hurts this morning. Now the prospect of a 50min walk in pouring rain to the pub to see our heroes start the New Year as they mean to carry on.
Come on lads, do your stuff. I can’t face trying to drown my sorrows after another dismal performance. Not today of all days.
I know you can do it.
Whatever happens, here’s hoping all the contributors to this super blog have a fantastic New Year and that the team we love play a big part in making it happen.
COYW
Happy New Year to all and thanks again to Tomas and Ben for bring us this great forum.
Back on TV, so probably back to our recent TV form – should be enough to get Brighton back on track…
I haven’t got a clue on this one.Brighton are a good side while we want to be.
Hey doogooder , I know I only know you from our virtual terrace but I know
It must be shit for you .
Good luck with machine
Cheers mate!
Spent the afternoon in bed listening to us get three points at Brighton.
Could be worse.
Well it sounds like you did more for the cause than afobe !
UTW !
Adobe to score on his last Wolves appearance.
Gonna stick with the 2-1 win formula
EBL man of the match I don’t believe it. Brilliant
Tipton… Ikeme MOM ..IMO saved all 3 points..truly fantastic save at the end..
but give or take giving it back to them as usual EBL defended really well..he did have a good match..
We robbed them..excellent..
3 consecutive spot-on score predictions, I’m on fire. Lol.
Great defensive performance by Wolves all over the pitch.
EBL in right place at right time all match, confidence growing.
Good to see Siggy back, clearly not match-fit and some of his touches rusty but looked to fit in well and could be another hold-up player enabling there to be some play in the opposition half for a change.
Can’t fault the performance today, 9 points out of 9 for Wolves in the Championship and me in the Prediction League.
Hooray.
Just got back from the pub. Going to predict losses all the time now lol. Loved it when GOLDson scored the own goal. EBL was very competent and worked hard and Graham was great too. Happy with our 3rd consecutive clean sheet, but we must start scoring goals. Happy with the 3 points. Brighton must be gutted lol.
Happy New Year from Cape Town. I predicted a 2-0 win but 1-0 will do just nicely! Now we are in serious territory and have to push on for the playoffs. That will also make a takeover more likely. Exciting New Year! Kenny has come back from the dead almost.
Going up, going, going up!
What a result. Defence was outstanding with the much maligned Ethan Ebanks-Landell absolutely magnificent and definitely Man of The Match. Mind you I thought the whole back five were excellent including Doherty who, after being all over the place at the start, had arguably his best game since League 1.
Midfield was tireless too – McDonald was everywhere, Edwards ran around as usual and Conor Coady I thought was superb and definitely gives us something Jack Price doesn’t. That late sliding tackle to win the ball outside their box and then his shot that was just tipped over summed up his day.
Thought Brighton were quite dirty and how that baldy beardy guy stayed on the pitch after getting a yellow card for hacking down Jordan Graham and then continuing to kick lumps out of him is beyond me. Quite how the ref played 7+ minutes overtime instead if the allotted 5 is also bizarre.
Never mind though eg, three more points, another clean sheet etc is all that matters. Only down sides I thought were Henry who continues to be awfulk and a liability in equal measure. Lost count of the number of times promising moves broke down when he got involved. Praying that Byrne or Zyro will see him relegated to a bit part player. Also Afobe – don’t quite know what to make of him, he tried but gets nowhere but is it just the lone role without support he is being asked to play or is his heart noit in it anymore?
Any road up you know things are looking up when even Kenny Jackett manages to use all three substitutes!
Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now for a cup run?
Best result of the season.
At the time of writing we are the only team in the land with a 100% record, and no goals conceded, for the whole of the year!!!
Wonder how long we can keep that going?
Win 1 – 0 every game, top of league and FA Cup winners!!
Europe here we come!!
Eat shit and die, wb !!!
Oh forgot.
New Years revolution
No fuckin” swearin’
Hello London loyal Wolves sister, your baby brother spilt the beans on you today at Brighton, I can’t wait to visit Kiddy and look you up. 🙂
In the interest of fairness and having the balls to admit when I’m wrong, EBL had a very good game today as did his partner in crime Danny Batth. 8 days off to recharge their batteries after mugging Brighton, then ready to kick on wipe the floor with the Ammers.
After that on to Tuesday against Fulham for another 3 points, hopefully with a couple of additions to mount a serious push upwards, then who knows where we could end up.
Well done boys, certainly not pretty to watch but bloody satisfying when the guy who got the OG was an ex-Wolves player released at 15.
Worth the round trip on a New Years day.
A few points on this game. 1) The defence didn’t panic, tried to play it out when under pressure.
2)As a unit we looked more organized…for a change.
3)I thought the ref was bloody appalling;booked Iorfa for nothing and allowed Kayala & Calderon to get away with murder and then played an extra 3 minutes on top of added time.He doesn’t live in Brighton by any chance does he ? 4) Not pretty to watch but you can’t have everything;a week ago some were shouting for Jacketts’ head.I wonder what their views are now.
Well done the team and kj. Rightly criticised when performances were poor , they equally deserve plaudits for digging in and getting 3 results over the holiday period. Still think we are mid table but at least we are now only 5 wins from safety and the confidence generated over the last few games may give us momentum towards the play offs. It hasn’t been pretty but it’s reassuring to know that despite all the rubbish going on in and around the club they have stuck together as a team. Happy new year to all Wolves bloggers ????
