You would have got generous odds on Wolves racking up three consecutive cleansheets prior to this festive purple patch.

The very notion of a shut out seemed far fetched after conceding seven goals in three days against Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday.
But well done Wolves and well done Kenny Jackett for discovering some much needed defensive resolve.
An enforced change in personnel looks to have helped with Connor Coady going from strength to strength after a spell on the sidelines.
Coady, along with midfield mainstay Kevin McDonald and the ever willing Dave Edwards have plugged those dangerous pockets of space in front of our inexperienced back four.
That’s taken some of the heat off Batth and Ebanks-Landell and shown they can be an effective partnership when adequately shielded.
Matt Doherty has also impressed on his return to the side, winning headers and generally showcasing physicality the head coach obviously feels Scott Golbourne is lacking.
Carl Ikeme looks back to his best, no doubt benefiting from a sustained run in a side many would say he should never have been out of in the first place.
But whether it’s a change of shape, a change of lineup, a confident goalkeeper or all of the above, the end product is the best run of results the team have enjoyed all season.
So what now?
Keeping Benik Afobe would be handy. His selfless running and hold up play have been a feature of late.
Even today up against the highly impressive Lewis Dunk, he protected the ball effectively and on occasion caused Brighton problems.
Hopefully the injury that forced Jordan Graham off late in the day doesn’t prove serious as his dancing feet have been decisive in each of our last four goals.
There was an element of fortune today, but his cross into that well known ‘corridor of uncertainty’ drew the all important error.
Keeping Graham fit and protecting his burgeoning talent are no doubt high on the head coach’s agenda.
Finding one or two more bodies to improve the team should also be right up there and may prove decisive over the final stretch.
There are a ruck of players coming back from loan spells, one new signing already waiting in the wings and the possibility of more to come.
And who could have foreseen Bjorn Sigurdarson’s resurgence? He impressed in a short cameo and could be the season’s bonus ball.
A turbulent January off the pitch seems inevitable, but with three winnable home fixtures to attack could things get even better?
With this Jekyll and Hyde, anything can happen team, it’s safe to say all bets are off.

Thanks Thomas, that was quick, it’s only 8 am here! I did predict a win but only as I’m a new blogger, I really was just hoping for a draw tbh but this makes up for Leeds and swfc , we do seem to have a habit of getting the first goal lately. When I fell asleep we were all over them , looking forward to hearing off others ho were lucky enough to be there utw
Brinx Mat ..Wolves style in their back yard too ..what a result..
I withdraw my criticism of Ikeme when he is confident and he can play like this then he is worth 3 points on his own and in this case he did exactly that..What a save at the end – his best of the season ..
It’s as if he has been coached (can’t be true) now confident in the air and ultimately very safe..
The DB / EEL partnership held well too – EBL s best game of the season too give or take a massive mistake only to sliding tackle the ball back in the box …looked impressive on sky…
We do seem to get a result playing defensively with option on the break players like Jordan Graham now being the difference and has almost taken Sako’s place..I hope he’s not injured..
Afobe looked apart from the team he can’t like the way how we played…his service was fairly meek and he had little to do here..prob because they had 65% of the play lol..
So 9 points.Amazing ..and another 3 wins on the trot puts us in that top six..
As an away team we are doing it ..it’s now at home and scoring again that needs addressing..
Zyro come on down..
The FA cup and 3 very winnable games next …how things have changed..

It wasn’t always easy on the eye but in many ways it was the perfect away performance. Again, like Reading, there was a bit of luck with the one that crashed off the bar and that magnificent Ikeme save in the 95th minute but we probably deserved it for our resilience. It is perhaps concerning that we don’t seem to have the quality to go toe to toe with a side like Brighton who, for the most part, were pretty ordinary but it’s small steps as we emerge from a poor run. Coady has improved no end and I thought McDonald oozed quality. Ever the calm head, it’s normally his passing range that catches the eye but he did the dirty stuff well today. Much to be optimistic about, whether we have the quality to threaten the top 6 I’m still not sure. I do think we need to start with two up top at home. A word for Siggy to, who still looks to have a touch of quality about him. You wondet why he has been on the scrapheap for two years.
As they say the ends justifies the means, but surely we must play 4 4 2 at home and give Benik some help.
Dug out another pleasing result with resolve which hopefully has put any relegation fears to bed. Players showed character. Ikeme and EL demonstrated that in a settled side performances can improve. Coady is doing what he can do well but possession stats will probably have to improve before we really turn a corner.
Afterwards KJ spoke on bbc radio about the need for additions to the squad and i am still not convinced from some of the body language that everything is what it could be between coach and players.
A long time ago I was well known in the Black Country and surrounding counties and I worked for a few different companies and Colin’s last sentence struck a cord with me.
In the 70’s 80’s and early part of the 90’s if you had a problem at work there were a few ways that you could deal with it, BUT as a modern footballer those doors are well and truly closed. So you have to toe the line until your parent club get a bid for you.
I used to get phone calls along the lines of “Hello pal how you doing at XYZ? How much are they paying you these days? Come and work for me I will make you a much better offer. What do you think? Give me a call next week. Now I know that I’m not unique or special in any way, but twice I accepted a new job over the phone without and formal interview , just handed in my notice left the premises and caught a bus or got picked up to go somewhere else, bear in mind that an extra £2k P.A. was a lot of money then.
So Wayne gets a call “Hello Wayne how much are MU paying you now? £300k a WEEK mate. Oh nice talking to you bye.
I hope I have not bored you all but now and then are just worlds apart.
Once a Wolf always a Wolf. Sheer gold son! Thanks mate.
Fantastic performance showing immense effort and resilience. OK, it’s not the way you would choose to win a game, but given the way the season has gone so far, I’ll take the three points with a ‘backs to the wall’ attitude every time.
It seems that those that some fans love to criticise chose this match to show their mettle. Special mention for Matt Doherty who made one or two tremendous interventions, and EEL. His man-of-the-match award was well deserved as it always seemed to be him getting his head on it at the vital time. Benik ploughed a lonely furrow up front but received precious little service. I can’t see him being happy playing this way for very long and it really is a waste of his considerable talent.
Finally, great to see Siggy wearing the old gold once more. Get him match fit and match sharp and wouldn’t him and Benik make a stylish front pair. (or am I just dreamin’).
Great work Kenny, you’ve steadied our ship, even though the way we played isn’t, I’m sure, your preferred option. It’ll do for now, until reinforcements are forthcoming in the window.
Onwards and upwards.

It’s getting closer ….
Moxey also revealed Morgan had sanctioned £85million in transfer and agent fees in eight years.
Just over £10,000,000.00 per year out of a profit of how much?
Sorry a bit out of date
WAAAHOOOOO !!!
I was away on hols for the first two back to back wins … of course, superstition led me to believe now I had returned we would get thumped … (was actually going to set up a crowd-funding page so folk could sponsor me to leave the country everytime WOlves played) however…. although we were absolutely battered … Carl Ikeme was imperious …. how he ever got dropped is a blody mystery … Even Ebanks Landell was batting back every ball that got lobbed into the area …
What a great team efffort – very seldom will we be so thoroughly outplayed and get the points, but i’ll take it !
Somehow though, we just have to get Afobe into the game, I mean Im surprised he doesnt take a few sudoku puzzles with him on the field to help pass the time … With Williamson coming in (hopefully) to shore up the back, maybe Graham and Edwards or this new Zyro winger can help bridge the link cos Afobe just looks lost up front …
And so the WOlves adventure ride continues, one minugte we’re staring at relegation, the next we’re only two wins off a top 6 … you just could not write this stuff.
Nevermind, for the first time in a while, Admant is a happy Wolves fan again.
I predicted a smash and grab plus a one nil score line so chuffed to bits. It still doesn’t feel like a complete turnaround and there is a fragility still but we have clawed our way out of trouble which is the most important thing. Great to see Siggy back!
Noticeable how Batth and EEL are keeping closer together and not being drawn out of position and how the fullbacks tuck in when the ball is coming down the opposite flank. A much more solid defensive performance. Getting out of defence seems a problem though as it was repeatedly hoofed up to Afobe who had no-one nearby to lay the ball off to and whose first touch still can be a bit wayward. Was pleased to see Sigurdarson back and looking sharp. Playing down a wing he will probably have a decent advantage in the air over most fullbacks which, perhaps, gives an attacking and an outlet option. Having said all that, and greeting 9 points with open arms, I still feel that against Reading and Brighton had their forwards been on form the results would have been different. Let’s face it how Reading weren’t two or three up before half time is a mystery. Something to build on though.
Blinding win, wasn’t pretty but I don’t care!! I was in the away end again it’s hard not cheering when we score! I’m actually going to the west ham game with the hammers fans that’s 3 away games on the trot in the away end
What a cracking headline in the press.
Connor Goldson’s father, Winston, is a lifelong Wolves fan so must have dreamed of a day like this, when he watched from the stands as his son scored the winning goal for the men in old gold and black.
Also all over the blog, The player that Man u would’nt release to come to us a certain James Wilson tweeted, “what a brilliant NYE celebration” then promptly threw up on the pitch at warm up.
The Brighton fans are presently ripping him a new bottom.
All in all a bloody good start to my New Year. A team showing some backbone.
🙂
Any news on the new buyers? Am eating out in London with friends tonight and would like to know whether to go for chicken chow mein, bagels & burgers or even some Jordanian manakesh.
A solid and professional display by a team that only a few games ago were all at sea. Although I predicted a Wolves win I would have settled for a point. Who wouldn’t have?
Big displays from some players that have, in the past, caused us a lot of concern, specifically EBL who looked a totally different player.
Ikeme was outstanding and looks to have nailed the No 1 position.
Good to see Siggi back in action and his physical presence was just what Wolves needed towards the end of the game.
I am a very happy bunny
What a classic smash’n’grab raid that was.
Pride, passion and pure bloody mindedness in abundance.
And excellent, individual performances all over the pitch – particularly between the sticks.
Even I, in my pomp, would have been pleased to pull off some of those saves.
Although the last one I would have caught rather than tipped over the bar.
You’ve gotta larf entcha?
And a word about the returning Bjorn Sigurdarson.
When we first signed him I thought he would go on to become a legend at Molineux.
He has everything to become the complete striker… He’s big, he’s quick, he’s skillful and he scores goals.
The trouble was, he always seemed to have left his bottle in the dressing room.
With the right attitude he could still uproot a few trees in this division.
Let’s see what you’re made of Siggy!
There is a feel good factor this morning, if results go our way in the next few hours I for one will be chuffed.
In the past we have had that great big gap down the middle where teams used to pour through like marauders that had just broke through the ramparts. The difference now is Coady is in there, coming back to defend, filling that hole and shooting forward like a gazelle on a break.
Brighton hadn’t got an answer for it, you could see from the off they were going to drive forward at us like so many teams have.
Yesterday they were back and forward across the pitch because that leak was plugged up, if Kenny can build on this and get them defending like that as the norm and not when they can be arsed then things will improve. Shrewd Kenny and his eye for a decent player bringing talent in will improve our chances no end.
🙂
Thomas, you pose the question ‘What now?’ What now will likely see Jacket not satisfied with simply grinding out resolute and, frankly, quite fortunate, close victories, and try to develop the team so that they can dominate teams more than they have of late whilst still remaining tight at the back – and that’s where the problem will lie, again.
For, in spite of all the qualities KJ undoubtedly has as our head coach, he more often than not has proved incapable of producing teams that can do both aspects of the game that are required for consistent and sustained success at Championship+ level: being disciplined and hard to break down defensively AND being creative and good enough on the ball to create sufficient enough chance to score goals.
More often that not, it is either one or the other with him, as he is largely unable to strike this required balance – hence the all-to-frequent tinkering of the team this season and the mass purchasing of midfield players, in the hope of stumbling on a combination/balance he knows is required, but that he is yet to find.
‘incapable of producing teams that … disciplined and hard to break down defensively AND being creative and good enough on the ball to create sufficient enough chance to score goals.
I disagree. Did you not watch us last season?
Definitely, out of the 3 games I watched on the T.V., this was the one, where we showed the most passion.
Impressed, once more by Graham, also Coady, EBL and Ziggy.
Ikeme made a great save at the end, but overall didn’t appear confident to me.
However am not going to get carried away.
I think K.J. is a weak man with limited abilities.
We defended very deeply and if Brighton had a slightly more skilful attack, we would have lost.
Also and finally, I think we are a long way from finding a buyer.
Steve’s link says nothing new and is sheer speculation.
Moxey is trying to sell the club, so he is bound to insinuate there are ‘several interested parties.’
Until there is something ‘concrete’, like a press release from an interested party, there are no offers, which must limit the ambition and motivation, at the club.
I think KJ should play Ziggy as centre forward and Afobe just behind him…
“I think KJ should play Ziggy as centre forward and Afobe just behind him…”
100% with you on that. Wasted out wide and has the pace to hit sides on the break.
Not pretty but yesterdays performance brought about the desired result.
3 wins on the bounce who would’ve believed it,a great return from Christmas.
I know we was lucky but who cares but defended stoutly and may be on a better day could have won by a couple of goals.
Nice to see siggy back, who played well with the short time he had.
But let’s not get to carried away with the 3 wins we still need strengthening in all departments if we want to push on to the playoffs and to the promised land.
Still awaiting news on the takeover, hope its soon.
Apart from the first 15 and last 10 minutes I thought we looked comfortable even without much possession. EEL stepped up to the plate and showed what he can do when he doesn’t get his body shape all wrong. Unlike the Forest, Leeds and Reading games I didn’t feel we needed a second goal to get a point. With Afobe, Siggy, Graham and Zyro maybe we can start taking the games to the other teams a bit more in the future. It would certainly help keep the blood pressure down.
Wolfman Jack, how much of what we produced creatively last season was largely down to one player – Sako (a player that found the division too easy at times), and more lately, Afobe (who also, when on form, is also better than the vast majority the Championship has to offer)?
But that was not your original argument – it was that KJ could not produce teams that can attack and defend. I agree Sako was hugely influential last season as was KMac and, strangely RvLP also came up with a lot of assists. But they all did it in teams coached and sent out by KJ.
If Sako and Jordan Graham were both available for the team who would be first choice?
For my money it would be Graham – he is far more consistent and the only thing he doesn’t have that Sako did is that thunderbolt left foot.
Good work KJ on the tactics; he knows we don’t have the quality at Centre half right now so dropping everyone deeper makes perfect sense. I think Batth’s lack of a pre-season and Ebanks Landell’s inexperience are a recipe for disaster if not protected. We know we can really play well if that bedrock is there so we should have an experienced CB and a pacy front man (Dicko-a-like – that POsh forward quick?) in window please.
An excellent assessment. Neither Baath nor EBL are good enough at this level, and hence the added protection constantly needed. But, this solution can only be very short term, because it severely limits our ability to attack with any real menace. The side is unbalanced.
My solution would be to pair an experienced central defended [ Williamson ? ] with Hause — who has greater ability now than either Baath or EBL and has substantially greater future potential
I wouldn’t give up on both of those at this level yet – I think Batth was solid last season and EBL is green. But yeah certainly into the future…
Caution remains very necessary.
The most pleasing aspect of our rent performances has been the ‘won`t give in, battling ” qualities of our team. This newly found determination is good to behold — but i f we are honest results, whilst being hugely welcome, have been fortunate. They have temporarily covered up many basic shortcomings, which if not addressed will quickly find us out. Let`s not get carried away.
The urgency of signing an experienced central defender, has not diminished. Similarly, we have to find a way of giving Afobe support, rather than leaving him isolated up front, so that his talent is largely wasted. This reminds me of the way we similarly abused the Doyler under MM — tactics which ultimately destroyed a very talented and fully committed player.
This then comes back to the ability of the coach. I have seen nothing in the last three games to change my opinion that Mr Jacket is tactically inept, and has reached the limit of his abilities. Longer term success is very unlikely for a long as he remains in charge.
Just read that we’ve accumulated more points this week than Villa have all season! Looking forward to playing them 🙂
Wolves Vs Fulham
Ikeme
Iorfa Curtis Davies Williamson Hause
McDonald (Capt) Coady
Afobe
Graham Zyro
Connor Washington
Subs
Golbourne
Bath
Price
Byrne
Jason Cummings
Interesting. Not sure I’d want Curtis Davies to be honest. Williamson yes. Conor Washington yes, yes, yes. Jason Cummings don’t know enough about to comment. Be interesting to see where Zyro will play. Right wing? Number 10 role behind the striker? Feel we need a centre back, two strikers and a creative, flair player for tthe number 10 role. Someone who can create, who can run and dribble at defences, someone who can score, someone deadly at set pieces. The Wolverhampton Mezut Ozil would be nice!
The only reason for Curtis Davies is, when they played at Molineux he completely blew me away, he held the defence squeaky bum tight and drove forward when needed. He was the best individual player Iv’e seen at Molineux this year. That’s probably why Boringmouth are after him.
If you want a bloke to run at teams that bloke Doukara from Leeds who came on early in the first half and changed the game 100%, I was never completley sold on Sako, but this guy fits the bill completely.
And if were snatching him we may as well take Byram who’s pretty useful.
So if we can get Cummings, Washington, Doukara and Byram for around £18-99 then they will complement Zero and Siggy. Then it’s the play offs as a minimum and a £30 million player bonus in Dicko coming back to fitness.
So Kenny a weakened team for next week who will pull off a shock and dispatch “the Ammers”, then concentrate on the two home games and Bob’s your Auntie.
How bored am I.
🙂
Talking of Sako, he’s back on the bench at Palace Vs Chelski.
Fair point. I see Derby are supposedly primed to bid £10m+ for Afobe although a massive Palace mate of mine says that they are going to buy him which would make more sense as (a) they are London which is where Benik is from, (b) they are top half of the Money League whereas Derby are still Chumpionship and (c) he would up with Sako again.
Fuckin’ A!!!
Sez it all
Wolfman, I stand by my original argument and it’s been plain to see, particularly this season.
I made reference to Sako and, to a lesser extent, Afobe, in light of your response to last season as being evidence that KJ’s teams CAN create and defend in equal measure, with neither element being compromised as the result of an emphasis on one or the other.
This is because Sako didn’t, to a significant extent, play within a team structure in the same way the rest of the team were expected to: he was a one-off who was largely given license to create and do as he felt fit. The fact he seemingly, almost single-handedly, won us countless games playing this way doesn’t change my opinion… it has been all to evident to see this season – in his absence.
Conversely I would argue that Dicko is a far more important player in the system that we prefer to play and it is his absence this season which has led to increased pressure on the defence, hence a less attack-minded midfield and more ‘stodgy’ performances. I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree. Happy New Year anyway !
Kinda the same as ‘Nightmare November’ last season when Dicko was out and we fell apart at the seams. Did OK when Sako was at the ACON though.
You too, mate – and to all this excellent blog!
Ok, so whilst I agree it is great to win 3 on the trot with 3 clean sheets, I still am not comfortable with us not scoring enough. We have been lucky and if we don’t sort out our lack of goals we will fall short just like last season.
A five man defence is always going to do better than 4, so if Kenny sticks with Coady, that’s that bit sorted.
Siggy looks a ball winner for Afobe and Afobe can certainly win it for Siggy. With Zero coming in then we could possibly have the answer your questions Brompto me boy. I truly thought at times Sighy was on the other team as his touches and lay offs were that good, if that’s what he’s like after 10 years out, then when he’s match fit we could be flying.
Talk of another spat of Epic, nay, Biblical proportions straight after the Sheffield Wed game, can’t elaborate, but it seems to have had the desired effect. (It involved the red faced plonker) who allegedly has walked. Why doesn’t he just buy shares in Liverpool and be done with us,
Morgan, don’t be a knob all your life. Have a day off.
No one is talking about them being a rudderless ship. Fact is we have a half hearted owner, a big headed leech of a ceo and a lower league manager who doesnt really bond with the players. Ok im not in a good mood !
Eat yer Snickers Colin, yer a right Diva when your’e Hungry.
🙂
Even when we win there’s diverging views!
I think it was key to get some fight & confidence back into the side. Job done.
How they move on is key but small steps at a time.
I’ve always liked Jackett & I think fans tend to put too much faith in the superpowers of Managers.
Jackett seems steely & determined & competent to me. A lot depends on the way the club is run, he is clearly hampered by no direction & backing from above.
36% possession stat shows we won by grinding it out.
A lot happier we’re winning again, because with all the crap that’s gone on this season it was after ,Sheffield Wednesday, beginning to look all too familiar. At least we’ve had the balls to slug it out & show spirit. A quality absent in the disgraceful relegation team that disgraced our club 3 seasons ago.
Nine points out of nine and none conceded. Yes I agree we have ridden our luck at times particularly vs Reading and Brighton but victories however they are achieved will surely inject an increasing amount of confidence within the squad that we can battle and secure points. You never know we could make the play offs…….
Onwards to West Ham – their last season at The Boleyn Ground – and the opportunity to try and improve our dreadful record in cup competitions since 1998.
Wonder how the Hammers supporters feel about moving from the incredibly atmospheric East End stadium to a huge bowl?
Wolves to win 2 1…..
Happy birthday BOG! 103 today! Oh sorry, my mistake, 63 today!
I am pleased with the way the defence has responded to the maulings against Leeds and Sheff Wednesday. This will improve confidence and perhaps a shock result against West Ham?
I had the most bizarre waking dream this morning.
It’s one of those disturbing flights of fancy that defy all logic and make you want to pinch yourself.
I dreamed that Derby were interested in SWOOPING for Afobe.
I really must change my medication.
Certainly don’t want Benik to go.If he does, can we at least have a decent replacement lined up?
There are a lot of rather sexist and questionable comments that could be made with regards to this picture concerning twin strikers, going down too easily in the box etc., but fortunately I am not Sepp Blatter and much too much of a gentleman to stoop so low.
Its got to be Brompton hasnt it ? (He cant spell Rachel) I should talk.
Nawww, that’s not Brompton, he’s much better looking than her.
No Sir, not me Sir. That said, it may be a Rachael and not a Rachel. They are two different names after all.
You’ve got 6 liks already
Well the club needed those three wins, as did the manager, the players and our precarious league position. I`m sure everyone connected with wwfc is happy with the last 3 results but that only leaves us with the following from the bbc football website page:-
Played 25 won 9 drawn 7 lost 9 GF 32 GA 32 GD 0 Points 34.
For me just not good enough Morgan & Moxey. We wolves fans expect better, but where do we go from here chaps? Bargain basement or cheaper than that signings, a wing and a prayer to consider the playoffs realistically possible, hardly likely I suspect. Still time though this season for a new owner to come in and splash the cash……….that’s top of my new year wish list, but I`m not holding my breath…..
https://mobile.twitter.com/MidKnightGaz/status/683709003671711745/video/1
This is who we want..
If EEL tried that you’d be screaming for him to get rid of it. 🙂
Are you mad man?
He’s from Everton. Bob the builder would never go for that. Moxey wouldn’t pay the price. Kenny wouldn’t play him.
I watched the match mate, easy to see why the special one thought he was the special one.
Now get back in that dark corner, take your night nurse and get the wife to rub you down with an oily rag.
🙁
Slightly negative guys in light of new owners to be…Reach for the stars ..
Ps..Incidently someone said recently we could be in Europe in a couple of years..I’m just joining in..
I share your dream buddy.
But until that Bob is gone were screwed.
Text to follow with rational.
🙁
As Jasper Carrott once famously said about his beloved Bluenoses – ‘we’ll be in Europe next year – if there’s a war’.
I was not serious at least not in the current proceedings ..I’m happy with Williamson / Hause but in not even sure Williamson is coming..
I fear the Chinese man has not been closed on a deal..the Chinese are shite at concluding things..
Then there is Morgans share to hide probably through a nominee..helps his divorce..
So …we wait..
Steve, I think people should check the financial markets.
We are unlikely to get new owners.
The faltering world economy will surely ‘influence’ potential buyers.
I suspect, one of the reasons for the sale of Wolves by Morgan is, he can no longer afford it.
In global terms, anyone with less than a billion, is not considered wealthy.
It is people like Morgan who are most affected by economic contraction and a big financial crash, is happening right now.
I know it’s not ‘football’, but in relation to the sale of our club, as the Judge said to me 40 years ago:
“Let’s be realistic…”
Morgan is in a pickle personally he has asserts to split and that inc shares of Wolves 1990 ltd ..One thing is for sure … that is that Wolves is commercially viable (as apposed to say Villa) there is the ground although the Council own the land there is Compton / the youth set up and about £20M worth of players ..
The balance sheet is ok and the club is worth about £40M …£30M of which is a transferable legacy ..Morgan could make £10M or hide it in the new club in shares which would exclude any personal asset.
The new Owners would be looking for a good investment that could be built by either improving the assets of Molineux or selling it and building a new ground.
All this is geared around the PL..
Wolves are an entity on their own as goodwill is worth say 50000 fans some at home and 000s around the world …if someone wanted to use Wolves as a commercial proposition it has quite a lot going for it for fairly little money with a high asset return.
World market situations don’t really effect much if the owner has an interest in football and it is trendy to buy one if you’ve got dosh.
Even say the Chinese stock exchange crashing 7% shouldn’t effect our bloke he has got assets everywhere – but I must say where is his signature?
Steve, old Chinese proverb:
“Economic uncertainty, makes those with money, keep it in pocket.”
The FTSE has devalued approx 15% in the last 4 months, what’s that done to Morgan’s assets?
The Chinese economic crash is being cushioned by political acts.
The world is at a cross roads and until there is a brighter outlook, talk of ‘billionaires’ investing in football clubs, is no hold.
Certainly it is unrealistic to think there are as many potential buyers as there has been…
Just saying…
‘on hold’- Not ‘no hold,’ sorry for the typo….
Does anyone know why Wolves are keeping quiet over the Charlton result? I’m certain I was actually there to witness the middle win of our current triumvirate but according to the Official Wolves Fixture list it looks like it didn’t happen.
http://www.wolves.co.uk/fixtures-results/fixtures-list/
Apparently we are awaiting the outcome of a FA judgement. They think we fielded 11 inelligible players that day. They can’t believe we could play so shite previously then win away at Charlton.
🙂
Any concrete news or rumours of transfers?
Rumours only
Real or Althletico Madrid are after Afobe
Derby are after Afobe
Norwich are after Afobe
If we sell Afobe…..
Wolves are after Jason Cummings Hibs
Wolves are after Connor Washington Peterborough
Wolves are after Tom Bradshaw Walsall
Mike Williamson terms and deals being sorted out
All rumours.
Bad typo there Stu – you said ‘if’ instead of ‘when’.
West brom are selling Darren fletcher to juventos
The rest of the squad are off to fray bentos
Tony Pulis is to be the new England coach.
They’re going to remove his teeth and fit seats.
P.S. credit where its due, I got that one from StuWolf.
You know what’s mad, I still laughed, and FreyBentos another classic.
Yow make me loff yow lot.
🙂
Was visiting my mate on Saturday watching the football results.
When they announced Sunderland 3 Aston Villa 1 his dog shouted ‘Oh Noooo’.
My mate said his dog always says that when Aston Villa lose.
I asked what the dog says when Aston Villa win.
I don’t know my mate replied, I have only had the dog for 18 months.
A billionaire was buying presents for his three young sons.
The first one liked wearing a pilot’s outfit so he bought him British Airways.
The second one liked wearing an admiral’s outfit so he bought him Cunard cruise lines.
The third one liked wearing a Mickey Mouse outfit so he bought him WBA.
Has anyone seen that Leon Clarke’s dad was killed after being attacked on New Year’s Eve in wednesfield. He may not have been great in the gold shirt but he is a Wolverhampton lad and my heart goes out to his family. Terrible news.
Ok .. If afobe needs the extra money so badly that he has to leave, then let’s sell him to palace where he can team up with sako and judas Hennessy then they could look at each other and at pretend that they are still at a big club and they ll all be back in the championship next season any way … And let’s go and get jack grealish fron the vile and Bradshaw from the saddlers . Proper Midlands additions to a proper Midlands team !
I don’t like the Idea of selling Afobe in fact if we had dosh with new owners I would buy Sako back..
Why Why should we give another club our best player and why why can’t we make our club so good for our best players to want to stay.
(Like Steve Bull)
Ok we could be lucky to find a replacement but Afobe on his day is one of the best we’ve had….I rate him with John Richards not as good as Bully but who was a better up front striker?
Answers in a post card..
Dougan perhaps..
1. Ted Farmer – scored 28 goals in first season even though didn’t get into the side until 12 matches had gone. Faster goalscorer than Brian Clough – invalided out at 24. Wolves backroom staff always rated him higher than anybody in the 50’s and 60’s.
2. Roy Swinbourne – main striker from 53 to 57 in the glory years. Career cut short at 27 by injury.
3. Jimmy Murray – succeeded Swinbourne and featured in back to back Division 1 titles and the Cup win.
Dougan, Richards, Bull, Gray all up there but those three were guaranteed goalscoring material.
No Steve.. I’m with you Richards and bull .. I loved it when we had Andy Gray as well
I did see some Doog games and I know he was a legend , but for me those 3
Back to the subject.. We ve seen it before mate . After their heads have been turned they don’t want to play for us anymore and that’s what has to be managed .not leaving the vacuums that sako s departure caused
Now we re being linked with that mule agbonlahore
Selling afobe to championship rivals and buying that shit lump of a donkey
Good job the south bank upset him enough for him to hate us cos he is shit
There is some good news…..

There is also some bad news…
Wolves can’t afford Mike Williamson.
There’s a surprise.
Yes saw that, so what are we (supposedly) doing?
Adding another Moxey to the list, Dean Moxey on a free transfer from Bolton, Dougie Feedman can’t afford his wages. Does Jez work part time for Bolton now.
What a legacy you have left us Morgan, the scraps from other teams table.
🙁
The rules say thou shall not buy players until January
We sold ( gave away ) Richard Stearman for two million( allegedly ) a few months ago.
Now, we cannot afford a journeyman, 32 year old defender who cannot get a game in the second worse team in the Prem.
The obvious questions, dear Mr Moxey, are why not and where has the money gone, you fat fuck?
More pies?
Lining your slick pockets?
Divorce settlement for rudolph’s tart?
Some fans seem to have the notion that you are a good accountant and have a grasp of the football side of the club.
If that is the case, why have we not moved forward at all in the 17 years you have been raping our club?
This Williamson saga is yet another chapter in the long sorry tale of your tenure, which hopefully will be coming to an end soon.
I cannot guarantee much in this life, but one thing is certain, you will never have a stand named after you.

the things you find in Texas!
Wow, that’s a massive scarf Clive. But of course, everything’s bigger in Texas.
I could be wrong, of course, but my guess is, if we hadn’t just had three victories with clean sheets, money would have been found for Williamson.
Just heard we’re being linked with Stephen Pienaar of Everton, a 33-year-old accomplished and experienced MIDFIELDER. Do we really need another one? I’m often baffled by some of the rumours that come out of Molineux but increasing our midfield options can hardly be a priority.
Shame but no surprise we couldn’t meet Williamson’s wage demands, Wolves are low payers and have a pretty rigid structure in place. Stearman (allegedly) refused to go to Fulham until told they’d offered him £25k a week, an apparent £20k increase on his Wolves pay. If Fulham can afford to pay (in my opinion) an average player that much and Wolves can’t/won’t then we’re hardly going to be an attractive proposition for good/outstanding players. Hence the reliance on the Academy to keep producing tryers.

Exactly right, well said. Is it can’t or is it won’t? Seems ludicrous for the club on one hand to say they want promotion to the Money League and then pay League 1 wages. Dont they understand you have to pay ti get the necessary quality to get you to the £140m a season league? Afobe is allegedly on £15k a week and Derby – same division as us and a ‘rival’ for promotion – are willing to pay £45k a week. How come? Are we REALLY so out of touch with the costs of modern football?
Can’t believe we are being tortured by this wage situation ..Surely re Williamson the whole idea is to strengthen our defence at any reasonable cost..
He can’t be that expensive or are we really the worst payers in the league ..
With the club on show for sale ‘with prospects’ them wtf are we doing?
Looking at options for an experienced centrehalf, I see that on the bbc sport website transfer news, a certain Roger Johnson has signed for Charlton Athletic on a free transfer. Surprised mad mick didn`t go in for him, but of course he`s got Berra things to spend Ipswich`s money on.
Maybe if the three players do leave it may free up the wages to pay Williamson, but we are competing with the Owls whose new owner is doing what Morgan never did, spending or investing if you prefer, his own money into the club.
If we play the same way for the rest of the season it won`t be pretty to watch, but I`m sure we`d all prefer a 1-0 win home or away a la Brighton, than more demoralising defeats.
Perhaps KJ thinks because we’ve had 3 clean sheets we don’t need anybody in to spoil his mini surge in form, but we ALL Know he is papering over the cracks.
Or it could be that there’s a freeze on funds imposed by Rudolf and poxey.ho and mustn’t forget the spineless bunch we call the board.
I really don’t think KJ is making this decision. He’s just having to live with it. Kinda like the rest of us.
A sad thing to say but despite 3 successive wins I’m that apathetic about wolves, until Morgan, moxey and the board clear off, I really can’t be arsed whether we buy Williamson, sell afobe etc or not. Nothing but nothing will improve until the new dawn of new ownership arrives. The only thing I hope for now is to get to 50 points as quickly as possible. My prediction is that gates of 15000 will be the norm by the latter part of the season. I’m a season ticket holder and travel to many away games but I couldn’t even be bothered to go on Boxing Day. Happy new year 🙂
100. Just saying.

Constructive.. if he accepts our wages
Oh well … I suppose if we can’t afford Williamson then at least we won’t be able to afford agbonlacarthore. Out of darkness cometh light as they say somewhere .
London,
Dave (Bedford Wolves) and I are at the Ammers on Saturday,
Once upon a time there was a Tavern,
Where we used have a drink, or two or three, or four.
Do you know of such a Tavern where we won’t get into a PU with Ammers fans,
Dave & I are up for a pint if ypu are.
StuWolf
🙂
Hi stu . Usually away fans go to the Denmark but it takes forever to get served in there , so I shall be having a pint with the London wolves boys and it would be nice if you and Bedford dropped by. Shall be at the half moon , Mile End road. ( Stepney Green station .. Turn left.. Be in there about 1230 on
London – sounds good to me though Stu won’t get to Upton Park till 1-130pm on the coach so not much time for him to tube it to Stepney Green then back to Upton Park in time. I will come to The Half Moon for around 12.30pm for an hour (or at least 3 pints!) as woukd be good to meet the London Wolves boys then stagger on to the ground to meet Stu for 130pm assuming he can’t get to the pub. By the way my mobile is 07709491138 in case there is a change of plan. Is that OK?
Hi both.
I will see when the coach arrives and make a decision, half moon it is then.

With regard to this ongoing bollocks about wages.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but when we were in the Prem, didn’t all the contracts have clauses in them to the effect that if we get relegated, then wages are cut in half?
If that’s the case, then surely the opposite logic should be used, i.e. take our championship wage offer, and your incentive to get promoted is a doubling of wages.
Problem solved.
If I can come up with that, why cant them wot is supposedly more cleverer than me think of it?
Rocket science it aint.
Too simple a solution for your Machiavellian mind, greasel?
FOwb
You can come up with that Clive, but it doesn’t mean to say that a prospective signing will accept it. Greedy little tykes want jam today.
You’d make an accountant loose weight overnight Clive…lol
Ok chaps . We ll take things one pint at a time and see what happens .
