Christmas is long gone.

But enduring this torrid campaign is akin to opening a sick advent calendar.
Each passing disappointment brings us closer to the fabled day of 7th May 2016 when, barring a remarkable end to the season from one of the division’s bottom three teams, we will conclude the campaign in the middle or lower echelons of the table.
Having keenly followed coverage of the game on Twitter, I feel confident in concluding that tonight was one of our most abhorrent performances of the season.
Brentford sliced through our midfield at will and exposed the season long frailties of our back four.
Carl Ikeme has been far from faultless this term but it’s hard not to have sympathy for our beleaguered goalkeeper. Irrespective of what defensive combination has been put in front of him, he’s been left woefully unprotected.
But let’s face it, our problems don’t end with the back four.
Our midfield, though admittedly deprived of key players, is desperately short on character and thus incapable of being combative against skilled opposition.
We’ve been clamouring for the reintroduction of Kevin McDonald since his surprise demotion against Preston but he made little impact in tonight’s game.
Whether that’s due to the quality of the players around him (or lack thereof) or a decline in his influence on the team is a moot point for debate but, irrespective of what side of the fence you sit on, our deficiencies are clear for all to see.
As for our strikers, it’s unfair to criticise their current output considering the fact that none of them, Joe Mason aside, were intended to be regulars at the beginning of the season.
Let it not be forgotten that Bjorn Sigurdarson, for all the endeavour he has been shown, had spent the two years prior to January 2016 out on loan at clubs situated well away from Wolverhampton.
The fact that we are expected to believe spells at Molde and Copenhagen that yielded a cumulative total of four goals have made him any better a player than the one who couldn’t get a sniff at League One level is indicative of the presumed stupidity we have been treated with all season.
If no serious rethink of strategy is forthcoming in the summer I fear buy gabapentin neurontin online we’ll be spending next season battling a return to the division from where our embattled manager found us.
Ben bites
Ben returns with an editorial on the destruction of a once great team.
‘Some of them don’t look as like they want to play.’

There spoke former Wolves hero Steve Daley, who could never be accused as such, nor his heroic teammates from a glorious old gold era, which will soon be a lifetime ago.
Whatever happened to all the heroes?
All the Shakespearoes? We’re watching Rome burn.
Two years and a day ago we won 3-0 at Griffin Park to end their 19 game unbeaten run in League One.
Michael Jacobs dazzled, Sako and Dicko mesmerised and our back four consisted of Golbourne, Batth, Stearman and Ricketts.
Today’s bastardised team is a pathetic, pale imitation, which will go on a 19 game run of their own at this rate – without winning a single game.
The parts of this team are inferior, the sum of them is collectively clueless and all the while, our once splendid manager looks on with his hands in his pockets.
And now, a much loved player from yesteryear who once commanded an English record £1.4m transfer fee is genuinely unsure if they give a toss.
Jackett at least picked a team more in line with what many have been crying out for in recent times, with Nathan Byrne making a rare start on the opposite side to van La Parra, who can console himself in the knowledge that he will be getting paid.
But whatever the permutations on paper, the end result is horribly familiar.
In the good old days we’d keep the ball irrespective of personnel. Whoever Jackett shuffles from one week to the next, the team surrender possession quicker than Dean Saunders lost his marbles.
So regressive is this brand of football and so completely alien is it to Jackett’s original principles that you wonder if they’re doing it deliberately.
However much Jez Moxey tells us to count our blessings (he did effectively say this at the Fans’ Parliament – the notes of which to follow), this feels so depressing that I can barely summon the words anymore.
No more inclination. No more heroes.

We are shite!!!!!!!!!
Once upon a time there was a tavern
But none of the bottom three won. Another game closer to safety. Get in there! 🙂
Indeed mate. That really is a three-pronged axis of shit we can count our blessings for!
One last comment before leaving until the beginning of August 2016.
If Wolves were an horse it would have been put down out of its misery.
If Wolves were a horse, then it would be deployed as a greyhound.
The horse would get injured as a result, due to trap-related injuries.
With no horse / greyhound replacement forthcoming, the jockey of the horse would be asked to run against the greyhounds.
The jockey was home grown though, so despite coming last we are told that we’re doing the right things with other greyhound trainers asking us how we do it. The jockey is one for the future.
Thankfully ‘Charlton Flier’, the ‘Bolton Bomber’ and ‘Majestic Miller’ hounds got lost en-route and were kidnapped by a travelling community on the A442.
So we get another go next season! Hurrah!
Great post Ben … I know exactly the references that you are making.
The bare faced crap that is thrown at the loyal, can we have our club back fans (wolves) is nothing short of insulting.
I’m referring of course from the crap that Moxey’s commissioned statistician geek delivered to the fans Patliament saying that we should be thankful for what we’ve got.
I actually think the geeks offices are his home in Essex….so much for him and his maligned statistics.
It’s also significant that Moxey chooses NOT to go public with his agreement to these fan bashing remarks.
Having read Doug Ellis’s assessment of Villa … I’m pretty sure it could also be aimed at our hierarchy… They’re all friggin useless and overpaid.
Can’t wait for your next blog mate…
Great to see you back blogging Ben,if only for a while.(hope not) telling it the WAY it is.
I’m sorry but injuries happen and yes with Dicko in the team may we would of scored more goals but would that stopped Jackett tinkering NO and for me there in lies the problem. Every game this season apart from may 2 on the trot he has changed players and tactics WHY…? did he do that when we stormed League One……NO did he do that last season……NO when we missed out on the play offs on goal difference.
Jackett in my option has contribute massively towards the mess we are in yes Morgans pulled the plug on funds yes Moxey has been cost cutting to the bone but I believe there is enough of a team there for us a least to be comfortable in mid table it’s just that Jackett for what ever reason deliberate or other wise keeps chopping and changing, a settled team which Jackett keeps on saying he his looking we haven’t had all season regardless of injuries, Ziro didn’t arrived till January Graham got injured December Wilkinson we brought injured so what was the excuse before then Kenny these players have been out quite recently the seasons 2 thirds gone………the bloke is broken….lost and spent.
We have a team of overpaid league 1 players mixed with some youthful potential that may come good for the future, that is it, we have to accept that. Our only hope is either the loan market or 3 side performing worse than us this season. I still believe Jackett is a good manager trying his best with what he has. Please remember he has to make do with what he can get with a 1990’s level pay cap and Jacob Marley in charge of the transfer negotiations!
As I blogged above we have enough talent to be in mid table…….it’s just that Jackett doesn’t know how to use it.
May be Paul Cook would ex Wolves knows what the fans are like and he would still see us as a steep up……..what’s to lose that by the looks of it we not going to lose anyway sticking with Jackett..!
We are in mid table.
We are in the bottom third 15th.
12th would be mid table.
We are in the third quarter.
We are in mid table. Pretty sure we were at this point earlier in the season and then went on a roll for a few games.
Does a point or two really make a difference at this point?
McDonald was our best player last night, what little comfort that brings. I agree with Daley that they look like they don’t want to play. No shape, no movement, no idea.
The body language was all wrong from the moment we conceded. Who knows where we go from here but something needs to change.
McDonald our best player!
We have no best players our midfield were non existent and an embarrassment to the shirt. McDonald as a senior player has to take his share of the responsibility for our current plight in my opinion. When confidence is low and we go a goal behind who are the young players supposed to turn to? Who sets the example on the pitch? Who shouts at them and makes sure they are in position? Who motivates them?
If not Batth, Mc Donald, Ikeme then please tell me who?
Mr Dougan, Mr Wright, Mr Cullis et al would have more professional pride than to allow such disrespect to both their own good names and the club shirt.
I always try to see the boys when they are darn sarf. Bought a ticket no problem and sat in an empty row amongst the bees fans. How they hope to fill a new stadium is a mystery to me. When the teams were announced I was quite hopeful, mcdonald back in, byrne and mason playing. Anyroad this is my
team assessment
Ikeme poor lad shot away, no confidence. As the oppo sliced thru our defence he didn’t know wether to stick or twist.
Docherty generally ok but some very poor moments , loads of free headers straight back to their midfield. Had one glorious run into their box and hit row z.
Baath and EEL both statues for brentford to bypass
Hause playing left back. Like the bad old days of mccarthy we now have several non leftbacks
and it shows. Brentford ghosted past him at will 2nd half as he tired.
Coady popped up with ball occasionally only to pass it straight back to brentford.
McDonald not fit if you ask me. Ran in ever demented circles looking to pass.
Byrne took 4 touches on average to control the ball by which time oppo all over him. Had great chance first half as ball rolled across 18 yard line and side footed straight to keeper.
VLP put in a few good crosses no bugger there! Got booed 2nd half not sure why. Brentford made sure he was surrounded obviously thought he was a threat. God knows why!
Sigudarsson runs around like a neatly turned out schoolboy and with the same threat. Will never score
in a million years.
Mason showed a few nice touches but generally an easy night for bees defence.
Wolves first touch generally was appalling leading to panic lunges and passes as the oppo close in.
Best part of the night wolves fans singing we’ve had a shot on goal. I am very worried about relegation now.
Bullisgod
I agree with your assessment of the team last night very accurate in my opinion. I think they are trying but devoid of any quality and ideas and confidence is so brittle that one setback and it’s all over.
We need some leaders on the pitch but have none.
we need to buckle down, where the hell are players the like of steve bull, john richards , steve daley– come on jackett read the riot out you are not tough enough,
Jackett should fall on his sword.
I suggested it a few weeks ago and some responded that would stupid, as if he resigned he wouldn’t be entitled to a pay off.
To me that sums up the mess.
Money has become so important to people that it rules them.
I’d respect Jackett if he resigned for he’d be putting the ball in Moxey and Morgan’s court, instead of being the mouthpiece for their lies.
Not really interested till we get new owners and that is not round the corner.
Agree Robin it would force Morgan to get involved after all he is still the owner he has a responsibility to wolves and its employes who in like RVP earn there money I’m talking about ground staff and other back room employees.
I have come to the conclusion that Kenny is a dead man walking.
I don’t think that he can get any more out of the disparate – and desperate – bunch of players he has left to choose from.
He looks, and sounds, like a man who is determined to go through the motions but he’s not really sure any more what those motions are.
It’s a tragedy after the heady days of our record League 1 success.
I blogged then that it might well be the best that it got – I didn’t realise that it could go so bad so quickly.
Kenny’s Molineux Epitaph should have been:-
“Brought light out of darkness”.
Now it will probably be:-
“Left for footballing reasons”.
DOOGooder
I can’t see anybody doing any better as they would only have the same pack of cards. I suppose a new face might just garner enough enthusiasm to get us the 6 – 8 points we will need to avoid relegation!
The salient words , DOOGooder, are ‘left to choose from’. It’s worth bearing in mind that in recent weeks he hasn’t had the following available:
Martinez, Hause, Williamson, Edwards, Henry, Dicko, Zyro, Graham. All in the past first choices for KJ. Eight first picks out is two thirds of the team. It shows what a threadbare squad we have, and as many have pointed out above, the replacements for these first choice players are no better than average Championship journeymen.
Still, we can only hope that once we have enough points to be safe, then KJ will give some of the youngsters an extended run. They surely can’t be worse than the dross we’ve seen served up in the last few weeks.
I am afraid it is a case of, to paraphrase Phil Collins, ‘No Jackett Required’.
Scott Golbourne’s comments are interesting. It seemed an odd decision to sell him when we were short of defenders and when the one we brought in was a centre back (and not then, and not now, fit). Clearly though Golbourne was unhappy with the style of play (as well as being dropped). He is not wrong.
Then, in a case of never take responsibility if you can pass the buck, according to people like Thelwell it was all Afobe’s fault. I watched Afobe’s last few games. He looked forlorn, unsupported and was clearly wondering what playing for a team with so few attacking ideas could possibly do to enhance his prospects.
For a long time I have thought that Jackett does not know his best team and has no idea as to his best system. Yes there have been injuries but that is what squads are for. This squad, though, with its multiplicity of midfielders and a shortage of attackers and defenders has been fundamentally unbalanced since August. For that you must blame those responsible for team tactics and those responsible for player recruitment. If half as much effort had been put into filling the ranks of the First Team as has been shown in recruiting for the future in the U21s and U18s we might not be in this mess. There is no point in planning for the future if there isn’t one.
We will probably stay up because of the inadequacies of other even worse teams. Hardly a ringing endorsement of the performance of the owner, manager, CEO and the rest of the staff. Clear out time!
Another piss poor performance. No idea where the next 3 points is coming from.
Like a ship adrift in a storm we continue to let the tides of despair take us on a journey that will end in disappointment.
Wow how can things unravel so quickly. I’m having deja vu about the season where Solbakken and Saunders took us down. Hopefully the bottom three continue to be shite for the last 13 games otherwise we could be in trouble.
Who is in charge of player recruitment and sales? Thelwell? Jackett? Moxey? Our squad isn’t as good as last year, I don’t even think its as good as the league one winning squad.
The players we signed three years ago – Ricketts, McDonald, Golbourne, Henry, Jacobs & Dicko (we’ll forget about Clarke!) all did a good job but since promotion our signings have been a pretty poor bunch. Who signs them? Does Jackett have a say or are they just dumped on him?
Van La Parra – has ability but only uses it 1 game in 10, plus a dodgy attitude it seems
Rowe – injured, no improvement on existing midfielders, league one player at best
Saville – I think he has potential and worth sticking with, useful squad player
Kuszsack – good back up keeper so why let him go?
Afobe – so good he wanted to leave!!
Coady – same as Saville – got potential
Byrne – not really given a chance yet
Wallace – ditto
Williamson – injured!
Zyro – injured!
Mason – got potential but why can we pay £3m for him and not for Callum Wilson who is a better player? Just doesn’t make sense?
And the loan players have been even worse!
I get why Sako and Afobe left but why did we sell the likes of Ricketts, Jacobs, Stearman and Golbourne for no logical reason with no adequate replacements?
No wonder we are struggling.
If I had a building company, with pretty decent bricklayers, plumbers etc, and producing a fairly decent product that made me a good profit, and then , in order to make more money , I got rid of all my talent and replaced it with a bunch of looky likey cheaper personnel, I woul be too surprised when standards dropped , complaints escalated and clients walked Would I ? I think I would then have two options. 1. Revert back to what worked previously. 2. Expect a slow very expensive fall to join the rest of the bottom dwellers.
Great comment spot on, remember we had some great brickies in Sako, Afobe and Dicko but the site manager would not pay them the wages their skills deserved, worringly the building company went bust before they could sell it as a going concern !!!!.
Generally speaking, if there ARE three worse teams than you, you might be safe from relegation. The reality is that there WERE three worse teams than us, but no longer! The only good news is that we have a 14-point cushion over the highest team that used to be worse than us. That’s really lucky for us, as we now seem to be the worst team in the division.
Out of darkness cometh pitch blackness…
Life’s a Gamble,
Ask John Lennon, Martin Luther King, JFK. All got up in the morning and thought off we go for another beautiful day, were they in for a nasty surprise……. Life’s a Gamble!
You wake up full of the joys of Spring, step out of bed, put your foot on the rug beside the bed and it slides from under your feet, you go arse over boob and land heavily fracturing your hip. You lie there unanle to move until your spouse finds you and calls the Ambulance, because your’e lying in one position protecting the hip, fluid in your lungs drains down to one side and you end up in hospital completley cured of your fractired hip but develop complications 3 weeks later with Pneumonia setting in because the fluid in your lungs cause Infection. Hydrostatic Pneumonia, you die……. Life’s a Gamble!
You walk across the street, go to step on the kerb and miss your footing, leg comes down heavily because you weren’t expecting it you put extra loading on to your spinal column, the top of the column breaks, a shard of bone punctures the Meninges surrounding the cord and you leak spinal fluid. You are taken to hospital, infection sets in a few weeks later meningealcoccal septicaemia sets in you die…… Life’s a Gamble,
Your’e a Wolves fan, you attend the games & pay your money to be suitably entertained, put your faith in the management, place your confidence in the Coach, believe the players competent and willing, trust the referee’s to be impartial at all times (in your favour). The team underachieve, the manager is cluless, the backroom staff are inept and the management are ruthless demigods. Your team fails, it becomes rotten throughout, quickly a plague sets in, despair, depression and resolution of the inevitable ensues and you die inside……. Life’s a Bastard!
When the doctor or midwife smacked your arse at birth, no one said life was fair. Come on,this is my 55th year as a Wolves fan, for Christ’s sake, someone somewhere cut me some slack.
Onwards and Backwards for a while me thinks.
My relationship with Kenny……
You like me, I like you
You hurt, I hurt
You cry, I cry with you
You jump off a cliff
I’m gonna miss you!
🙂
BLOODY HELL STU!
You certainly know how to cheer a chap up.
Enough talk, time for action – and no, I am not suggesting coin throwing or abuse of the players, fans need to be cleverer than that.
Some sort of protest that gets public approval is a must in order to demonstrate the frustration being experienced by the majority of fans. Something akin to the exodus of Liverpool fans recently would surely send the right message particularly on TV. That obviously assumes that there will be sufficient fans in Molineux to muster a protest!
Thoughts and ideas anybody?
When we walk out it will probably be because we are getting bollocked.
My suggestion is boycott all televised home matches.
Sky and BT won’t keep choosing matches with an almost empty stadium, completely devoid of atmosphere.
The loss of TV revenue will make them think (money is one thing they do care about) and the beauty is as the protest is made on national TV, nobody has to miss the match.
Thomas.
Can we update the prediction league.
We may as well try for some fun for what’s left of this mediocre season of ours while we can.
Also after last nights result I should be joint top according to the list.
🙂
Jackett, Morgan and Moxey have all (rightfully) come in for stick this season but don’t you think we’re giving Kevin Thelwell an easy ride? The guy is, after all, chiefly in charge of recruitment.
As correctly pointed out above, we haven’t improved the team that took us out of League One so perhaps we shouldn’t be so surprised by our current form.
To my mind, we’ve signed one top class player (Afobe) in the last four transfer windows. Surely that’s not a scenario of Jackett’s making?
At risk of being overly harsh on a limited group of players, I don’t think one of the players who started last night’s game would get into the starting eleven of any of the teams currently above us. Perhaps McDonald at a push but he’s looked a shadow of the player he was last season and, in particular, League One.
Still, like the prized fool I am, I’ll taking Jez up on his Early Bird offer this Saturday so perhaps I ought to take my cake and eat it?
UTW
Ben (Rasmin)
There’s always someone worse off than you.

After supporting Wolves for over 40 years, I can honestly say, ‘I don’t give a shit anymore”
Steve
If you have stuck it for 40 years you are doomed like the rest of us. We have seen and heard all this before; the current bunch of incompetent clowns are just a passing annoyance and will soon be gone as others before them.
We are Wolves it is our club we can’t just switch it on and off, it’s not just a business to us it’s far more than that.
I have no time for Moxey, I have no respect for Morgan and I feel sorry for Jackett but I just can’t walk away.
We are Wolves!
Matron more tablets please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I get the feeling rather than walk Jackett is saying “these are the players you’ve given me they aren’t good enough”
This is the only reason I can think of for all the teams choping and changing.
Anyone else notice the amount of players who leave us and become good van la parra went to Brighton for a few weeks looked a world beater came back here and is again utter shute. Burnley last night had Dave Jones Sam Vokes and Stephen Ward in there starting line up and they sit 2nd. Where do we go so wrong with players I just can’t understand it.
SIMPLE…… 16 YEARS OF MOXEYISM !!!!!
Don’t you realise Jacket just can’t coach..He mentally rinses players out too particularly as he leaves them on the bench.,he’s the master of musical chairs..
Afobe gave the clue when he said with Eddie Howe ‘he’d learn a lot from him’ ..compared to
You know who….he learnt F all with him…
One way or another virtually the whole squad has been trashed . To try and balance the books in Kenny’s favour some fans are prepared to just write them all off. They are admittedley shot to pieces now anyway. Personally i think they were potentially a more talented group than McCarthy had to work with in the Championship. .
Will we start the next 2 or 3 seasons with a stronger squad i doubt it – new owner or not.
Lets cut to the core.
We all know and accept that the players we have are hugely inadequate. But we are stuck with them. It will be HOW this current rabble can be transformed into something resembling a football team, that will determine whether we can somehow avoid relegation. The only question therefore is whether or not Mr Jacket is capable of marshaling resources sufficiently well to achieve this basic goal of survival.
My view is that he cannot. He is inept, having completely lost the plot- and seemingly the dressing room as well. We are spiraling downwards out of control, while our coach endlessly tinkers with team selection and tactics, and bleats out his match by match excuses for yet more failure. Continuing with the present coach will likely be a disaster. The nature and size of our defeats is likely to escalate in the weeks ahead. The time to act is surely now.
A fundamental requirement of good management in any business is the ability to assess the severity of a problem, and then to take decisive action as required to overcome it. In out case such action surely can only come from Morgan and Moxey. Now that is just wishful thinking.
I suggest on 10 minutes we all turn our backs on the directors box for 1 minute that would get noticed on the cameras…!
Agreed,
We all turn our backs and get those overpaid underachievers to throw coins at us.
Anyone else spot.
RVLP has offered another apology this morning.
Dohhhh. Thick Dutch twat, the horse has bolted as Ben would say.
Deja vu, did’nt think lightning could strike in the same place so many times.
Amused and interested as I was by Steve Daley’s increasingly despairing comments on WM. I watched Happy Valley instead & thought after I got the result on Twitter we’d done amazing to keep it at 3.
KJ has up to & including the Bristol City home game to get us a win. If it’s nil points then surely he will be sacked.
Nigel Pearson or David Moyes would be my choice of replacement, but I realise that’s unlikely because this is not a normally run football club.
No vision, no ambition, will mean another half way house appointment, & the clowns in charge will preside over yet more disappointment & humiliation.
Saturday could be toxic, I’m not looking forward to the game, we have been awful at home.
The players need to wake up & smell the coffee otherwise they’ll give us the ignominy of league 1 football again if not this then next season.
Our team is cut open like a knife through butter. It’s easy to play against us, how many times have I seen us give ordinary teams belief when they realise just how shit the guys they’re playing against really are.
I was a happyish clapper, but I’ve seen & heard too many lame performances now to have the blinkers taken off.
There is something very rotten in the state of Molineux. Backwards & backwards!
Anyone remember the movie “Saving Private Ryan”?
There was a character called Upham, a translator, who could not understand the word FUBAR.
Well, for me, that word sums up totally the situation at The Mol.
FUBAR.
And for those who don’t know,
FUCKED UP BEYOND ALL RECOGNITION.
There is no need to rake over the coals, flog a dead sheep, or any other hackneyed cliché you can think of, we are fucked with a capital M&M.
And the fact that certain fellow bloggers are cheering the bottom three really shows how low we have sunk.
Once again, the management have it wrong. Not only are we completely out of the playoff picture, and to be honest, have been all season long, but they cant even get us in the relegation fight properly, which would at least give us something to root for over the demise of the season!
But, as pointed out above, we’ve seen and heard it all before, we do have hope for the future, and once again, we must all get down on our knees, pray to whichever dog floats our boat, and give thanks we are not villa or shit followers!!
FOwb
VLP says he will accept money being thrown at him, every week, as long as it’s £50 notes. The fans should neatly fold them into paper airplanes and direct them at him.
Still puzzled how some still think something can be made out of this set of impostors disguised as Wolves players. We have NO QUALITY left in the squad. They have no desire, no motivation and not enough skill to be the team we want them to be. They are not even a mid-table championship team. They are a mid-table Division 1 team at best.
Maybe it’s just me, but I feel no association with these players. They embarrass me. Our midfield isn’t even fit to tie the shoe laces of the likes of Rae, Ince, Sako, not to mention other greats that walked before them. Our forward line is non-existent – may as well just pull someone in at random from the crowd just before the game. And our back four … well, my head just hurts when I think about it – no Joleon Lescotts here or Denis Irwins, that’s for sure!
It’s bad. It’s really, really bad! They are bringing in players they turned away in Division 1 to replace the good ones that have left. Sorry guys, I think it’s very worrying times for Wolves fans right now. I’m not talking about relegation battles. That’s the least of our worries in our predicament. I am talking extinction. The end. Game over. This is not a sustainable situation. Owner has left and dropped us, meaning there will be no more investment. Players and coaches know this so they have no motivation. One by one they will leave and be replaced by cheaper ones. Slowly, we will become just a poorly funded, best effort, academy set of players, treading water till they are sold on.
Our only hope is to get bought by someone who cares and able to invest to start over. But there are two problems here: Morgan’s price tag is too high, and the longer time goes, the bigger the expense it will be to rebuild.
Seriously, I fear the worst. We are back in Batthi Brothers days. Something needs to happen quickly. Someone needs to step forward soon. Otherwise, I fear that out of this darkness, will come NO light.
Desperate, disappointed and depressed …
Go Wolves!
Agree about the gulf between this set of players and the teams of even a few years ago. Rae etc. I see even Kenny Miller is till knocking them in for Rangers.
Yes, it will be a long haul before we can put together a team we can get behind with pride.
The scary thing is that the team of Miller, Blake, Ince, Rae, Kennedy, etc. was nowhere near good enough for the EPL and we all know how that story ended, so when I see the chasm that exists between the one we have now and the team of then, can you imagine just how far away we are from EPL standard now? To hear Jackett still talking of possibilities of playoffs is just banal beyond belief.
After the Huddersfield game I stated that we would not get as many points as when we got relegated to div one three years ago. See where we are after the next two games and then people will see that we are going to end the season in a relegation scrap. Carn,t see where the next point is coming from.
Can’t see where the next goal is coming from!!!
Ikeme has exactly the same problem.
I remember blogging in the past asking the question what’s going on at the training ground watching the second goal l was asking myself did that really happen.2 passes down the wing a cross field pass shot goal.Hause is not a left back, batth McDonald tried the rest poor.I would like to see Karl Robinson @the club for one simple reason he identified the talent in Alli and Afobe when unknown and persuaded them to turn out for MKdons. On a small budget still gets his team to play the right way. This is my last entry.
I was about in 1983 to 1986 and i see similarities. Poor players. Don’t create anything. Concede easily. At least the players then showed some fight. And i’m talking a fat Ray Hankin at end career, Danny Creanie ( legendary shit destroyer at the shit 83) an old Ken Hibbitt John Humphrey Steve Mardenborough et al. New owners desperately required with ambition and vision. Thank god we probably only need another 5 or 6 points. You sit back and think about where we were until the late 70’s and the constant poor management by different owners since then. Can only be summed up as really poor/mediocre at best. Give or take a couple of stints in the top league. Even they were a struggle due to poor management at the top level. My hope is to remain in championship this season and just hope for a new regime to freshen the whole lot up.
Hello fellow supporters.
Hats off to the hardy 900 souls at Griffin Park. Not being present I cannot really pass judgment but the articles on this blog and in the Express and Dingle certainly provide a fairly good summary of events!!
Along with Bedford Wolf and one or two other Wolves fans from this area we will be watching the Derby fixture in a local pub unless we have a change of heart at the last minute and travel up.
A win would be wonderful but even from my “glass half full” type of mind-set I just cannot see it.
Enjoy the game guys
BOG.
KJ is at least partially culpable for his own demise and it’s time fir him to go. We can all lament the injury to Dicko but it’s easy to forget that Jackett repeatedly left him on the bench last season, missing out on play-offs and possible Premier League riches by one goal as a result. Promotion might have meant we could hang on to Sako and Afobe but knowing M&M probably not. Not all signings will come off but I think Thelwell and co have done a reasonable recruitment job on the shoestring budget available to them for purchases and wages and there’s the rub. Moxey siphoned off enough into reserves when we got relegated so that he could draw down enough to report a modest profit and no doubt trigger his bonus. At the fan’s parliament the pieman revealed that Morgan’s remit to him has always been to run the club as a self-sufficient business. Selling players to balance the books has weakened the squad so much we can’t cope with injuries and exposed Mr Jackett as woefully out of his depth. Morgan doesn’t care about Wolves or its fans. He wanted to be the chairman of a Premier League club, he bought his dream for a tenner but bottled on when it came to investing any real money and so that fairytale is well and truly over. I’m sure he’s not sorry for anyone but himself. We don’t need a multi-millionaire owner to be at the helm of a self-sufficient business so why doesn’t Morgan just hand back control to the fans? Sir Jack effectively wrote of the value of the club to sell for a token amount on the proviso the new owner invested what they would otherwise have had to pay. Morgan has invested the money he was obliged to invest but no more. He should not be looking to get any of that back. That was never the deal. Sing it with me folks [to the tune of Sam Cooke’s ‘Chain Gang’]: “Ooh… Ah… That’s the sound of Sir Jack… Turning in his grave”
It’s all very quiet at the club after this result ..we’ve lost 3 on the bounce with Derby and Boro coming up..
Jackets comment ‘the way the players played hurt me’suggests ‘it’s all over now’ with the players too..
Even Tim Spears is quiet..We are all waiting..My take on this is that a replacement is hovering but if no announcement is made then we are all going to ride the slide and slide we def will..Like free fall..
My saviour Williamson looks like he mends slower than the clubs intention to sell so as much as we and KJ need him there is no immediate help here..Doomed proper..
The Cub would be due a ‘we back the manager’ statement, that ain’t there so history repeats itself ..can’t negotiate a club sale..can’t negotiate buying players can’t negotiate a new manager (not ‘Coach’).Good arn’t we?
However..something is due surely… if only to completely stop KJs farcical comments pre match and post match..to me I will remember him for these interviews ..not his totally useless team choices and mystifying
tinkering ..
Some thing has got to be done..now ,before the atmosphere gets really toxic…
I’ve got a horrible feeling it’s going to get worse before it gets better, not least because I’ve heard a rumour Paul Ince is waiting in the wings. It’s sadly all too easy to believe: An ex-Liverpool midfielder that Steve Morgan got chatting to on the golf course; Premier League winner under Sir Alex; played over 100 games in a Wolves side, captaining the side that got promoted to the promised land after nearly 20 years in the wilderness. On paper and in the mind of Steve Morgan it will be a match made in heaven. Sadly, on the pitch is where it counts and he’ll be sacked just before he gets us relegated to the fourth division, which is ironically the only one he’s qualified to get us out of.
He’s (Ince) had the sack from his last two managerial appts (Blackburn and Blackpool) ….. Please say NO ….. If Morgan does this (I.e. Saundersgate) again ….we’re definitely doomed..
Can’t see it myself though …memory tells me him and Moxey fell out over a previous Wolves managerial appt.
Have been following the Wolves since 1953, and I have been through good and bad with our beloved team, but this is the worst (and I include the Bahtti’s) I can remember.
Where do we go from here, God knows I don’t, just hope it’snot Ince as manger I have a feeling he could be worse trhan the sheep shagger Saunders.
My only interest left in this season is the prediction league, if I can overcome my apathy. I will be working to the theory that if I predict a loss I will get more points than most of the poor deluded who believe Jacket knows what he is doing.
With a bit of luck we might just about avoid relegation but the way things are going it will be a big if.
Thanks Ben for the great blog on our current useless set of overpaid twats.
I may overcome my apathy to continue blogging but it might have to be next season before I feel like making any useful/useless comments again.
Hiya Tipton ….. At all costs overcome your apathy … believe me 95% plus of us bloggers feel the same about the shower of s@@t managing/running this club.
REMEMBER …. this blog is read by people within WWFC, from the media (Tim tell it as it is Spiers …NOT), probably sponsors, big fish media moguls …. so your feelings are put out there and read.
If you stop …your voice will not be heard….
Good theory but one of the curious things about Jacket fans is they nearly always predict defeat ( except Doog and top boy London ) probably why i am nearly bottom of the prediction league).
I see the PR machine has rolled Bully out to try and deflect critisium from M and M Therwell and Jackett.
I wish Bully would stop trying to convince us Morgans a decent bloke Bully saying the loss of Sako and Afobe and Dicko is why we are struggling, yes Steve your right but where are the like for like replacements we were promised Steve ask you mate Morgan and Moxey about that.
Bully don’t spoil your standing with the fans mate everyone knows who’s to blame poor man ament from the top to Jacckett, poor recruitment penny pinching CEO and an owner who NEVER had the heart transplant to Wolverhampton he claimed, just a by pass to get his foot in door to bank property.
Thanks for pointing out Bully we not in the red or going out of business, I’d just like to point out Bully we not in the play offs we not in The Premier League League or ever likely to be with your mates Morgan and Moxey ruining the club……!
With all due respect to you Bully….your talking Bull.
Paul.
They’re all tarred with the same brush. Plant, Hey Hoe Flint , Bully and the rest of the bored, I left Suzi Perry out cause she’s a bit special. But the rest are just PR converts with no bottle. If I were a new owner they’d be gone in a heart beat, ( not Suzi) she’s special.
🙂
Tipton,
Hang on in there buddy, why should you get to jump ship and leave the rest of us in the shit. Anyway, the fresh rumour coming from Molinuex this morning is that, yes indeed the Wolves Bored and the Demigods do read our blog and it’s been decided that whoever wins the prediction league is to be invited to be assistant Head Coach. Bonus I’m in with a shout.
wwwebs,
I suspect youv’e been fed the rumours going around on Wolvesrumours.co.uk (well worth a visit guys) they posted that Paul Ince has been in the frame for some time, also Glenn Huges has been quoted as banning Morgan from the ground, he was reported to have the No 1 bid in at the moment, ( seems a daft thing to do if your trying to buy the club) banning Morgan will feck it all up.
The funniest one on there was,
A painting company was asked by Moxey to come in and paint over the inside of the players tunnel to the pitch. There are pictures of the Wolves greats on there to inspire the team. Moxey said they wanted it painted over as it was having the opposite effect and intimidating the players.
The painter just happened to be an ardent Wolves fan and tefused the contract point balnk. So Moxey doubled the quoted price and then tripled it. The painter still refused.
Moxey said, he wanted it done by this Saturdays game against Derby as something big is taking place on Saturday, we wait with bated breath.
Hmmmm I smell a
Clive Steve Showcase and I heard about the Paul Ince and Glenn Hughes stuff last Sunday but were asked to keep quiet, I now suspect the guy that is feeding my source from Molineux is doing the same with the guy on Wolvesrumours.
I can’t see Wolves beating Derby or Boro, so the Paul Ince thing should happen agter that if true.
If they paint the tunnel (you can’t write this stuff) then we only have to wait until Saturday, to find out the big news.
I suspect they are changing the toilet paper in the executive suites to Andrex cushion triple layer in order to further protect the arseholes on our Bored.
🙂
