I do hate that sky blue away kit.
But if it helps Tommy Doyle channel his inner Man City with Champions League level howitzers like that, all is forgiven.

What a hit. What a goal.
He might have had another minutes later had that poor chap not put his face in the way.
Still, the moment of magic that counted keeps us in the FA Cup and provides something more positive to reflect on after another bungling display from the officials.
I’ll accept the Gomes red card – we’ve seen lots of those given this season – but when their man does the same, it’s just impossible to not reach the same conclusion.
Then right at the death their man grabs Semedo by the throat and somehow both end up getting equal punishment. I advocate for technology but I do not advocate for incompetence and it’s the latter that’s the problem.
Given everything against them, I extend great credit to the team for hanging in there and forcing the replay. We came back at Shrewsbury a few years ago to salvage a second bite and went on to that Wembley semi final. Let’s do it again.
A special mention for Matheus Cunha who I thought was sensational, particularly in the second half. When you’ve got a man less, having a player that can move through tackles is a real bonus and boy, did he move through some tackles. He must be the best ball carrier in the Premier League.
Another plus was getting those minutes into Pedro Neto who looked sharp and ready to go. I can’t seem him being left out of the side against Brighton.
Hopefully we can get a few of the walking wounded back for that one – along with Mario to come in for the suspended Gomes – and if Sasa Kalajdzik is really heading to Germany, someone to fill that significant gap would do nicely.

Spot on report, Thomas.
It’s almost like a VAR camera wasn’t functioning.
Oh, wait a minute…
Good all round performance despite the inconsistent referee and VAR decision.
Now back to the Golden Palace and hopefully go on a cup run.
VAR has become nothing more than a bad joke. But the real issue must surely be not the system itself but the lack of quality of the men interpreting it. They appear to have no real understanding of the rules of the game, and worse there is zero consistency, both from game to game and within just one game.
That said, we played with huge determination and commitment tonight, and thoroughly deserved the result. We have again become a real ‘pack ‘
Apart from his goal, Tommy Doyle was very effective in midfield, and could well prove to be the best value signing of the season — assuming we take up the option to buy.
A word also for Santiago. He`s improving all the time and tonight he looked very solid at the back alongside Kilman and Toti.
But for me our star man was Cunha. He`s become a real class act and if he can get a strike partner in this transfer window, we will become a real force to be reckoned with up front.
We would have battered them if it had been 11 vs 11, it was 12 vs 11 to start and 12 vs 10 after but we still managed to salvage a draw and looked the team most likely progress in the second half. This is where we need to be though, too good for VAR to completely fk us over, well done GON and the team. Consistency is everything, without it all the technology in the world is absolutely pointless, it’s hard to see corruption against lowly Brentford but who knows.
Couldn’t see it over here but by all accounts another mixed bag of var bullshit
Since when by all media accounts have we become the west ham retirement home
Having streamed the match I agree with all the comments that it was 12 against 10.
I have just read the Daily mail write up for the match and wonder whether the writer watched the same match as me.
He is definitely a Brentford supporter who only wanted to talk about that crap side.
Same with The Times
The Guardian was much better
Very pleased with the result, considering we lost Gomes in the ninth minute, although I didn’t see the game.

Fun night out, despite the inept officials. They really are poor and inconsistent.
Well done to the lads for a gritty, never say die attitude.
Hoarse from all that singing too.
yeh …. me too
much better than all those trips we made to Chorley back in the day eh !?
Spot on Matt. But didn’t we have some fun in our away games in the lower leagues.
Yes mate … top days ..Grimsby midweek .. where didn’t we go ? Absolutely hilarious with that nut job Rollsey .. I remember Rob being so angry with us messing about that he chucked us out of the car in Reading .. we were so pissed and trying to find the ground we were in someone’s garage at one point . Those days were fantastic. I loved going to all those stupid grounds
Happy days. Rob’s still Mr Angry. He has just retired and is now completing all the horse racing venues in UK & Ireland.
Robs a good man. bumped into him at Forest a couple of seasons back . it was nice to see him . i haven’t seen lenny for a few years … Seenhim in the north bank bar about 5 years ago. hope he’s ok ….
who was the lad that used to come with us sometimes that spent the whole time looking at people s trainers ?
Lenny is still a carer and doesn’t get out much. Think you might mean Paul K or 5 pints we nicknamed him. No longer with us unfortunately.
10/10 for resilience, quite an achievement to dig out a result with 10 men and 27% possession.
Never a red card, the hidden agenda against us really does begin to look conspiratorial, but what a cracking goal.
Still worried about our paper thin squad till the absentee international travellers return though. Reinforcements urgently needed.
Cracking view too. Shows how tired my seat is in the new stand.
Spot on analysis yet again.
Despite the simply awful application of VAR, we should all be hugely optimistic for 2024.
If there was one game this season that demonstrates the positive changes that we are all enjoying, it wasn’t beating City, or our demolition of Everton. It was playing for almost 90 minutes with 10 men, away from home, against another Premier League team, with a number of key players unavailable, and coming from behind to secure a deserved replay.
3 key differences that are obvious for all to see under our new coach.
Team togetherness.
Player development.
Tactical acumen.

Well said Muttleigh.
And that should really be the cover pic for the replay match day programme.
With another picture of the Brentford thug grabbing Semedo by the throat.
We’ll I’m absolutely delighted with a replay as it means that it’s another trip to the Golden Palace for my daughter over from NZ ..
I’m even more exited for her because our lovely friend Marin Wolf is trying to fit a trip over the Golden Gate bridge in SF on her return journey to Christchurch..
thank you so much Brian if you can pull it off .. she’ll be delighted ..
We’re it not for VAR and refereeing incompetence.. AGAIN … we’d be doing the Conga around Asda .. can’t wait for a week Tuesday ..
Magnificent performance.. 12 v 10
Ok Twix-ey
Will hopefully have great pic of the bridge to
Post here
next week!

Hope so Brian.. she’s a bit unsure of the logistics and leaving the airport etc ..
Lets all support a team already in the 4th round managed by an ex Wolves player.
One of my favorites step forward Mr George Elokobi of Maidstone United.
I hope you get Wolves at home in the next round or failing that a lucrative away tie at LIverpool or Citeh.
Watch George’s BBC video, still wearing his heart on his sleeve:-
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67894600
Still remember the match when an opposition attacker tried to push George off the ball and just BOUNCED OFF HIM.
Good luck George
A great result for the ten men against the massed ranks of authority and incompetence.
Determination, skill, togetherness… and BALLS!
The definition of a great piece of recruitment business:-
Get £53million for a lazy, disinterested, petulant waste of space.
And as a ‘make weight’ to ease the pain of the ‘loss’, receive in return, for mere ‘peanuts’, a hard working, talented young footballer (with a rocket shot in either foot) who obviously wants to play and seems a really likeable character.
If only Jeff could sort something like that.
Perhaps he’d be a bit more popular with the fans.
Well said DOOGOODER. Nunes was a complete waste of space for us , despite his arrival as supposedly one the world`s greatest midfielders. The enthusiasm and humility of Doyle is like a breath of fresh air
And there lies the problem. For every gem such as Nevez coming out of Portugal, there are many very average players who have been able to look great locally, but then unable to hack it in the big league.
Our problem was that Shi, having no real knowledge of the game, was endlessly taken in by Mendez, so that we paid over the odds for supposed world beaters who proved to be very average at best. Think Silva and Podens et al.
Hopefully Shi will henceforth be confined to his pen and transfer decisions will be made by real football men able to suss out quality and value
Not all transfers work out, it’s true.
Worth remembering Neves, Moutinho, Jota, Costa, Cavaleiro, Patricio and Neto as some of those Portuguese imports that certainly did work out for us. There’s probably a few more if I could find my thinking cap.
A touch of irony there, Doog?
Irony? “Moi?”
Went to the game and really proud of a team that plays from behind for effectively 90 mins and come from a goal behind. Well done to GON, his staff and the team – we have a proper set of lads playing for us every week. I think the replay will be spicy . There is no love lost between these two teams. The whole referee/ VAR dynamic is a shambles. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… the game is not only filled with incompetent but it also corrupt and sooner or later it will be exposed, it is just a question of time.
I also hate the sky blue away kit, and the fact that we wear it when there is no colour clash, probably to sell more replica shirts.
VAR continues to be the bane of our lives. What are they doing if they don’t ask the ref to look at those red cards for Brentford
Still a replay is fine by me and I fancy us for a good cup run. We have shown that on our day we can beat anyone and haven’t won the cup since 1960… ridiculous!
Happy New Year everyone!
Just Stop VAR.
Orange powder over the pool table at stockley green..
Chatting to my mates in the boozer this evening. Consensus is just fuck VAR. We can’t beat it. Just get on with it . We are Wolves. The old terrace chant ‘Fight fight wherever you may be. We are the boys from the Black Country”. Fuck VAR. Fuck PGMOL. Fuck the useless referees. You won’t beat us. Now fuck off!
Could not have said it better!!
I wonder if the betting cartels have the VAR franchise ,
Seems to be a few players getting caught out
We are now, officially, a real, bona fide team. In every sense of the word.
The pack is back.
do not understand the hype behind Sasa.
He is literally a player you bring on, for the last few minutes, or added time minutes.
Other then that, he is awful.
Cant run, not strong, cannot link up play, cannot beat his man…
It was such a pointless answer to the question that was asked, Really glad he has gone.
Also, this is now just an extra fixture, personally would of took the loss, for another 3 points off them in the league. Now we have to see them off twice at the Mol.
This team is really building to something. Just hope, he does not do a Nuno, and mess it all up!
Agree about Sasa. He doesn’t fit into Gary’s preferred fast breakaway strike force. For the same reasons he wouldn’t have had an obvious role in Nuno’s halcyon days at Wolves either. Too much of an expensive luxury to have a beanpole of a player to bring on for the final few minutes of a match. He would probably do well in the Championship but that’s academic now as he’s been loaned out with, I think, an obligation to purchase. Given Gary’s system, Sasa is the classic square peg in a round hole.
It’s Gary’s responsibility to play the players who are brought in.
Who was a Wolf first?
And as a former mid fielder, he’s probably a better passer than most strikers.
But two goals in less than 180 minutes isn’t good enough for some of us. Heck, he can crawl on his hands and knees as far as I’m concerned if he can score at that rate.
Ah yes. I guess this is where statistics obviously blind people.
“2 goals in less then 180 minutes”
Neto played a perfect cross, for the Everton goal, and he had it luckily bounce off the back of his head?
As for his second goal, cant remember who it was against, but anyone on this blog would of scored it, fell to him in the box and he placed it.
He would never, ever start over Cunha, Hwang or Neto, he does not fit the system.
Watched him start a few times, same thing with podence, you are playing with 10 men from the whistle.
Hope he never returns personally, because it would be a backwards step
Is that the Pjan A system or the Plab B system.
Good players attract luck.
Do you think those goals in the Bundesliga were all lucky? Top teams in Germany want him. But you’re a better judge of footballers than they are, I guess.
He could play every game for the rest of the season in the prem and never score again….
Look at guedes.
Not sure why you keep arguing about my opinion and take on a player that has left the club.
You like him, I (like most) think he is shit.
End of discussion. It’s nice to see you think that the german league and the prem are the same standard.
Different theme .. and I’m not a German lover BUT I will put a marker down for that great Centre Back legend Franz Beckenbauer .. who’s passed away today .. an absolutely silky player .. never stressed, a magical giant who stood tall for the German team ..
RIP Franz.. and thank you for gifting the football world your talent..
RIP Franz Beckenbauer. A true giant of the game. World Cup legend. Up there with the world cup greats.
M’Lord, bit of a name drop (sorry blog) but I had the privilege of sitting next to him at a black tie dinner I was hosting in Brussels one year, back when I was in a corporate role. Lovely man and made conversation with everyone on the table. No airs or graces. Interesting conversation about England and taking penalties I recall.
Watching a re-run of all the FA Cup goals this weekend , I noticed numerous goals being created by lower league teams trying to play out from the back. My conclusions being;
1. Pep G has promoted this idea knowing full well he has the best players capable of executing it and is probably p*****g himself laughing .
2. Aren’t defenders supposed to clear danger anymore rather than create more? What happened to full backs guarding posts at corners? Dozens of goals being scored now in the spaces they used to guard.
3. Beckenbauer- World class, made it all look so easy, now he could play out from the back unlike many of us mere mortal footballers who were told ” Clear the bloody thing, who do you think you are Beckenbauer?” Up in footie heaven, what a team!
OMG .. potentially an away game in the FA Cup at .. yes Sandwell Town .. whoop whoop ..
OMG! This is the time for repatriation. The fuckin inbred six fingered bastards still giving it large about the 5-1. We MUST give it back.
Clive would have loved this potential tie and a 5-1 drubbing would make him smile.
No VAR at the Shit. Our chances have already improved by 75%
What about home team bias ? The crowd will be braying for a penalty/red card at every fake opportunity. Players will be going down in agony before they’re even tackled.
We got to beat the Bee’s first, Cheesy. We are tempting fate discussing the shite.
I’m not making this up. Ivan Toney’s initials are:
I BET
His full name is:
Ivan Benjamin Elijah Toney.
Irony is alive and kicking. You can bet on it.
Wow this also applies to Sterling whos full name is:-
William Arthur Norman Kevin Erol Richard Sterling.
Rumour has it there’s a Lee Hughes trophy for best student diver
Greetings,
With the prospect of a trip to the Poorthorns in the offing it’s imperative we batter the Nylons in the return.
The odds look decent, I’m putting a Pony on Brentford somehow, and against popular wisdom, getting Big Ivan on the pitch. 100/1.
A Monkey on the Home win naturally, 2/1.
And a speccy Deep Sea Diver on Greasy Frank being hit by a beach ball. 1000/1.
All odds from Griffin Park Betfair correct at time of press.
1 lv & COYW.
According to various sources on …newsnowwolves….over recent weeks,
are there any of Wolves first team squad not being the subject of a potential purchase transfer by the end of the season!
Sa, Semedo, Kilman, Ait Nourri, Gomes, Lemina, Chang, Neto, Cunha.
There are also several loans of course for advantageous reasons.
Also mentioned , Gary O’Neill.
What a compliment to our squad and management.
Last one to leave, please turn out the lights!
How I dislike the weak headlines often used by the current legion of wannabe football writers.
Eg….” The New Neto…….”: “ Forget Doyle…..”
OK, there may be similarities between players and they can be compared. I appreciate that, but all players are unique and should be afforded that respect.
In the case of Doyle, the writer was disrespectful . He was comparing Doherty’s very good performance with an excellent performance from an inexperienced young player finding himself in a depleted midfield. “ Forget Doyle “, is dismissive
of a young player’s contribution in a difficult game, played with ten players.
The headlines are clickbait. Much ado about nothing. Inevitably we will be disappointed by the narrative once we have been conned into reading it.
I agree with you and understand about clickbait DWW.
Nevertheless the practice irritates me. I guess I am a grumpy and pedantic old man. At least that is what my journo daughter tells me.
And I see some players are “unplayable”.
What does that mean?
Does it mean they cannot be picked to play?
Just our luck The Sh*”e produce their best home display of the season. Fuckin hell if we had Eusabio and Pele they would both get fuckin COVID pre match and get ruled out. FOWB.
Someone recently said to me that Luton, Bournemouth and Brentford were teams that VAR officials were desperately aiming to help secure PL status ..
Well following Friday nights VAR howler going against Burnley.. I think there’s some mileage in it ..
Maybe they want to bring back the old Southern League.
In the event that Wolves suffer a points deduction on Monday, wait to hear from those who are ill – disposed towards the Wolves management who are poised , ready to hit the keyboard!
The keyboard warriors can be poised all they like, we didn’t get charged with breach of rules today. Everton and Forest did.
Amen to that DWW.
Well done Wolves women. Against the odds in to round 5 FA Cup.
Well done Jeff and Fosun.Avoided a points deduction. Astute management despite the conspiracy dwellers on here.
Have to agree with that. It’s painful to see heroes from the Nuno era leaving but points deductions would have been disastrous as they might well be for Everton and Forest.
Let’s, all get behind Gary and the team and get as many points as possible, another 10 to be safe but more would be great.
Makes you wonder though if they hit Everton and Forest with points deductions , the end of season matches will be chaotic and how will the money laundering/ off the books accounting be punished at City and Chelsea?
Just read the news about sanctions against Forest and Everton.
The Premier League is becoming a sick joke.
This FFP/ P&S fiasco is taking the football off the pitch and into the courtrooms and imo is a restraint of trade. Football clubs should be allowed to manage their own finances like all commercial entities unless they fall into insolvency. And if we are running into punitive reprisals what about MCFC and Chelsea. One law for the Sky super six and another for the rest apparently.
It now looks as if after the final round of matches we will not know who is to be relegated for weeks afterwards and court cases may well run on for years. How is that going to work?
Glad we have managed to stay out of the mire this time round (I suspect narrowly) and I guess it explains the summer fire sale so on this occasion well done to Jeff for being on the ball and seemingly pulling the rabbit out of the hat in the nick of time. But if all but the “big 6” are to be sanctioned for speculative investment then football as we know it is dead and we face a PL promoted oligopoly. And who knows whatever new hurdles will be put up to ensure “the rest” don’t break the status quo. I suspect sadly again this is the road to the European Super League concept which will be the ultimate closed shop. I’m afraid the whole shebang reeks of corruption to ensure that the rich become richer.
I know not everyone will agree but my sympathies are with Everton and particularly Nuno’s Forest – the guy doesn’t have a lot of luck does he?
Sad to say that I’m becoming more disillusioned with “elite football” and the circus it’s become by the day and let’s throw VAR into the mix. It.s no longer really about sport is it?
Hang in there PJB, remember the flag from a few years back;
This is our love and it knows no division”
Some things you can’t change , you’re a Wolves fan like the rest of us.
I have nothing against PJB. He comes on here and makes his point. He is Wolves through and through like the rest of us.
Always will be BG, a leopard cant change it’s spots but I’m afraid we’re no longer on a level playing field and I feel for the millions of fans apart from as well as us who are being short changed. The PL is starting to look like a Russian election.
Last August Everton,Forest and Wolves were all in the same situation. Wolves took action to avoid FFP sanctions the other two didn’t. Forest decided not to sell Johnson for £30m and avoid punishment but chose to wait for a higher transfer fee of £50m but by then had fallen foul of these regulations. Wolves sold Ruben Neves to Saudi for somewhere between £40 – £47 million to avoid breaking these rules. How much do you suppose we could have got for Ruben if we played hard ball and took it to the wire?
Consequences we sold on the cheap lost our “Big time Charlie” manager and were put at risk for this season. If Everton and Forest manage to successfully appeal it will be a kick in the teeth to Wolves especially. Man City and Chelsea face much broader issues and I think we all hope it’s going to catch up with them sooner or later. Like it or not we have to conform to these rules just like many other things we disagree with. Wolves took a stance in August which kept us out of trouble despite all the ridicule it brought. The media delighted with all the nonsense, Wolves are going down, their managers walked out and now their best player has gone on strike! Funny how things turned out isn’t it?
Well for at least once PJB I agree with you .. the PL has now become a source of comedy.. a joke .. the transparency of events is a clear as the London fog in the 40’s and frankly stinks ..
The corruption is far worse than Sep Blatters brown envelope stationary cupboard .. and I just hope that the fans of the 2nd tier clubs in the PL rally around to create an uprising for fairness and equality .. Why oh Why are Man city and Chelsea not getting any P&S publicity.. or points deductions .. we all know they’ve breached the rules .. which just adds to the theory of bias and prejudice..
I’m sorry for Everton and Forest .. not because of regulation breaches but because we all know there are others .. that the PL authorities shy away from penalising ..
I’m surprised Jarred fuckin Gillet ay deducted us 10 points on VAR !?
I don’t read about lower league teams.
Are Sandwell town nill in the chumpionship or league1?
