Had we not won, the grave sense of injustice would have been too much to bear.
There was no reason at all for Simon Hooper to immediately halt the play and prevent Jota from ending the contest with a third goal.

What is the point of VAR if you don’t let the play evolve and check it retrospectively?
Bad refereeing, which is a shame as he got pretty much everything else correct.
That terrible mistake nearly cost Wolves dearly as Bournemouth wreaked havoc with long diagonals up to Steve Cook.
The big defender set nerves jangling, scoring the first and setting up the golden chance for Nathan Ake that was fortunately straight at Patricio.
It was a wobbly second half for the boys in old gold after a virtuoso first orchestrated by that man Moutinho.
One unstoppable free-kick and an equally devastating pass won the game as Wolves strutted around in total control even before Simon Francis was correctly dismissed for two cynical fouls on Jota.
In fact, that must be the best first-half away performance of the Premier League era? I’m struggling to think of one better.
The only slight criticism is that we weren’t more cohesive for long periods of the second.
But to criticise feels harsh, especially after they created and scored a perfectly good third goal ruled out for no reason whatsoever.
Thankfully, it matters little as we climb to fifth and extend the unbeaten run in the Premier League to eight matches.
From that scrappy last-minute escape act at Selhurst Park to the fringes of the Champions League places is some ride.
Keep it going lads.

I’m beginning to think there is. VAR conspiracy against us. Leicester got their usual VAR decision. In fact twice as the pen was retaken after being missed. Arsenal had an excellent VAR decision away at Man utd when a perfectly legitimate goal was ruled out for offside. VAR review and he was clearly onside. Goal given. So where was VAR today for us ? I’m so glad we put Cheatmouth in their place. Never forgiven them for their disgraceful antics at Mol the year they went up. We are on 19 points 2 games earlier than last season. This is progress. Jan window to come. We can eye up that top 4 ? Can’t we?
Cheeseburger of Death agree with you on VAR they must switch it of if its for Wolves and put it back on for the opposition. It would have been a totally different game if we went 3-0 up but we managed to hang on andcthe dizzy heights of fifth in the league.
Or if Leicester are playing.
Absolutely detest these awful cheats and their manager. Staggering that in most of the post match reports not a metion of our perfectly sound 3rd goal which I believe would have led to us getting a couple more. There constant cyncial fouling (everytime we play them) should get retrospective punishments. Saiss still worries me though and I reckon only a matter of time before the red one comes his way. The margins in this division as everyone knows are so slight that a red leading to minus 3 points can drop you half a dozen places down the table. That first half though was something special, we should have been 4 or 5 up but January is fast upon us and we are looking good on several fronts. We know that players won’t be bought just to pad out the team they will have to be decent so it all bodes well……on the brink of Europa knockout phase and inside the top 6, who’d have thought that as we spiralled down to League one not long back……have a great weekend people and here’s to finishing the job in Portugal on Thursday…….’Wim a massive club we am, nearly’
Listening to 606 on the way home, made me laugh ,the patronising arrogance of Arsenal fans, whingeing Evertonians, whining Hammers, even the Spurs fans aren’t happy. All fed up with their managers, all with an inflated sense of importance. Times are changing, Wolves (and Leicester to be fair) can shake up the top six. Come on Jeff, splash the cash on Dias and make it five Portuguese internationals.
There cannot be a better midfielder in the premiership than Jao Moutinho. The guy has it all. Skills on the ball, great vision and a work ethic that completely belies his 33 years of age. The complete footballer.
Unbelievably he plays for us.
Agree completely. He’s my favorite player now. I’m shocked he’s not a regular starter for Portugal.
I agree that our first half performance was the best that I have seen in many a long year.
Whether we got tired, took our foot off the gas or just panicked after their goal, I don’t know.
I also don’t know whether Jota’s goal should have been ruled out.
Raul seemed to come from an offside position when he put Diogo through. Does that mean the goal should have stood? I’d have said not but I’m not certain.
Perhaps someone will enlighten me.
But nothing should detract from our first half performance.
It was superb.
In today’s inflated transfer market Moutinho must be worth squillions. If he was ten years younger he would be absolutely beyond price, his age might put some prospective buyers off, but I reckon he’ll keep going for a long while for Wolves yet.
The whole team, and Nuno, should take a bow for bringing home three points from Bournemouth.
We are now, officially a top 6 club.
And does anyone know where Adama got his hair extensions done?
I think they might suit me.
He got them from me. I haven’t used them for some time.
I agree. An amazing first half. But 3 points are 3 points so I am happy .
All you need now mate is a dreadlock holiday and some bigger quadriceps and adductors.
I will then call you Adama Doog .
I got a bit panicky at 2-1 but those first two goals were classy to say the least.
I’ve singled out Moutinho as my worshipful god so I’ll be hacking 4 inches off my legs to emulate his stature…… what a player…. hope he signs his new contract asap.
Great result… more crap VAR but in the end the cheats didn’t prosper….
Off to Braga for me and Lady Twix on Wednesday…. core wait…
I’ve just read(4 minutes published) that Moutinho has signed a deal until 2022…..
There is a god….
I think the bournemouth lot were trying to hack four inches off Diogo’s legs,
They really are a nasty bunch. They dish it out but can’t take it when they get tackled.
You know what you are, you know what you are.
Cheating bastards, you know what you are.
Allegedly.
Enjoy Braga. I was born in Portugal (moved stateside when I was a few months old). Wish I was going to the game as well.
I will do…Lou .. thanks.
Get in touch with Clive (f H) over there if possible…he’s a bark…. and he’s met John Richards…
Just seen Citeh 3rd goal chalked off by VAR. Utter garbage decision. Sterling shoulder may have been a millimetre off. This ay what VAR is for. That was not a clear and obvious error. Our goal at Bournemouth was. It is a load of shit. Bin it.
There’s not actually anything wrong with VAR in my opinion; it is just the implementation and wording and construct of the game’s rules; shoulders and mm of measurement, which have no consistent accuracy or judgement at present, should not be deemed clear and obvious. Offside, in my opinion should be judged by foot placement with the whole foot ahead. The handball nonsense needs to be examined to create a much fairer and clear set of rules and advice; surely it’s not beyond the wit of man…
Just seen some images on Mol Mix in the build up to Diogo offside goal. Both Jota and Jimi were at least a foot onside. If that was fuckin Leicester they would have been awarded 5 goals and an extra 10 points for their inconvenience.
Great three points, isn’t the League table looking good?
Can’t adidas knock up some socks to match our shirts ?
Here we are born to be kings
We’re the princes of the Universe.
What the feck that’s got to do with the 3 points we gleaned today is beyond me, but I’m a little worse the ware , and had a tad too much alcohol.
Confirmed by me falling top to bottom down the stairs at Weatherspoon’s and surviving like a good tough Wolvo guy.
Funking funny though, there’s never a Jeremy Beadle about when you need one, well worth the £200.
The game, what a day, stick that in your cheating, diving, portfolio Eddie Howe.
Bournemouth fans great after the game, in the pub they were genuinely complimenting our great first half showing.
The second half.
Well, Wolves Ay we.
Happy Bunny, here in Sunny Bournemouth signing off for Nuno at 10.
And we’re fifth in the PL.
All the pundits are saying, “Nuno could easily manage a top 6 team”
Well, hello.
Weem 5th, so he already is.
Tossers.
Next please.
I got held up by a drunken Wolves fan in the pub or I would have witnessed Stu’s slalom down the stairs, I have seen the bruises….on his arm not his arse I might add!
Brilliant classic game of two halfs, but overall our performance deserved the 3 points.
Nuno obviously thought the Doc was man of the match as he dragged him across to us in the corner to receive our acclaim.
Magic day, magic match, magic manager, magic team.
Now on to Braga and more magic and more lager..
Just seen on sky sports Moutinho has signed a new contract till 2022. Outstanding bit of business and an outstanding performance from our Portuguese midfield wizard. Wonderful goal and a perfect pass in for traore to set jimmy up. Easily the finest midfielder I’ve seen play in gold and black in my lifetime.
So we beat The CCB (cheating, cherry, basturds) for the first time since Clive got his driving license (1948) but not before VAR/Non-VAR/linehoe tried to fek it up for us!
But who would if really thunk we’d be where we are today some 4 years ago?
We’re 5th in the worlds best football league, we’re almost certain to progress in Europe, we have money, a manager that must now be one of THE most eligible in Europe, a 32 year old proper fekin midfielder that should have seen Wolves be done for FFP – £5M – 5 fekin million and now we have him until 2022
This really is a Carlsberg moment – probably – and it’s still only 4 years of Fosun….. look what Cithe done in 10 years 🙂
Boy do I hope I can retire soon and make my new job Stu Wolfs apprentice to watch every game home & away.
Proper, proper fekin Wolves Ay We
Top 4 ay we.
I’ve just watched MOTD and would like to withdraw part of my first comment.
Raul was certainly NOT offside for Jota’s disallowed goal, and if VAR is supposed to prevent ‘clear and obvious’ mistakes by the referee…
WHY THE BLOODY HELL DIDN’T IT?!
What stupid rule says that if the referee blows his whistle then you can’t use VAR?
If a decision is wrong… IT’S SODDING WELL WRONG!
At least this time it didn’t cost us points.
But it still makes me wonder how many brain cells the people who come up with these rules possess.
If he blows his whistle, then the other team stops playing. It was a mistake by the referee.
Don’t know why the referee doesn’t have to answer for his mistake.
Golden rule of footie is, I’m afraid, play to the whistle. If the ref stops play then Diogo goes on and scores, the defenders could fairly claim that they had stopped when the whistle went. I know, if the boot was on the other foot, I’d be well pee’d off if the goal was given. If it comes to that, I’m well pee’d off that it wasn’t given. Some people are never happy.
We are getting nearer and nearer to creaming someone good and proper, and we are still very much under the radar.
We have murdered the opposition in the last two games, yet finished with a scoreline on both occasions which flatters them.
Still, as Tentman Brompto says, we got the three points and that is what matters.
Boredmouth finally got their come uppance, and were lucky to have ten men left on the pitch at close of play.
They have to be the dirtiest team in the division, and their dire brand of football is finding it’s correct level, which will be back to the obscurity of the third division.
Having said all that, the first half was a pure joy to watch, a training session which should have yielded my five goals.
I just wish Diogo and Adama would dribble further, right into the box, where they are sure to draw a bunch of penalties.
Still, we ay doin’ too bad, am we?
As someone put on some website, Tottenham wanted the special one, but they got Mourinho.
We are not interested in a top six manager, we got a top five, and climbing, manager!
And, it turns out Moutinho signed his new contract before the game, and what a friggin’ great performance he produced, again.
Let’s sign a player a week to a new deal, if that’s the result!!
The shit keep winning, let’s hope they come up so we can wipe the floor with them next season, twice.
FOwb
Clive sorry this has got to stop! You need to sit on the naughty step & say 10 Hail Marys.
“Let’s hope The Shite come up”. I hope they loose every game until they end up in non league & Wolverhampton Casuals spank em 5:1 (no offence to The Casie’s).
Serious wouldn’t give 2 figs if we never played them again.
Dude, week by week they’re getting closer and closer to your 5 -1. Coulda, shoulda been this week! Onward and upward!
DUDE?! Hey Dallas love your American speak but y’all gonna need an interpreter in The Black Country ay yew. Best bring Houston.
Well howdy pardner! Been out inspecting the South 40 (traveling) and just got back. Sure’nuff true and I was a fixin’ to find out what language y’all are speaking.
Ok, now that I got that out of the way, you’re right. I’ve been taking a crash course by reading the Cheeseburger (his reference to “goat herders” a few weeks ago was hilarious. I just about split my britches, er……….I laughed hard) and a few other folks postings. My problem is I don’t get the references, but will in time.
Wolves aye we!
Good start Dallas. That’s the most important phrase in the Black Country followed by it’s moi rowund ay it.
Dang! That’s a good’un. Even Google couldn’t figure that one out. Care to enlighten me?
Oh, and to be clear, I’m about as Texan as the gentleman to my south in Houston. All that “good’un” type speak is just funnin’, but you probably already know this since my wife and I were fortunate enough to have breakfast with you and the aforementioned gentleman to my south the day after the ManUre match (see, I’m tryin’.)
Remember meeting you both Dallas. It was fun. The phrase Google couldn’t translate into Texan goes something like “howdy boys – lemme get y’all a bottle of Bud” I think .
That is a good phrase to know indeed. Thanks for the explination. So the next time I see you, and I hope it’s soon, I’ll say to you: Moi rowund ay it.
I had my rant over var at the end of the last thread so I can’t be bothered this morning, anyway I’m way too happy
I was thinking that our biggest challenge moving forward is not beating man City or Liverpool and certainly not beating teams who match us with three up front ( bmouth, villa still el ) but it’s keeping the self entitled, self absorbed, deluded so called top 6 teams from throwing big bucks at our boys, so when I heard that possibly the best midfielder in the prem atm has just committed to us for a couple more years I treated myself to another chocolate biscuit.
I mean if you’re a Neves, and you want to improve your game , why would you want to go any where else
A back three of Boly , Coady, Dendoncker would in my mind be as good as anything in this league .
Bring in a top truffle sniffing, ball playing midfielder and keep these lads fit and we can beat anyone, anywhere
This is by far the best wolves team iv ever seen
We do need to win something though
Europa League will do nicely
Utw
I like it on top! 🙂
Top of the league that is. 😉
We’re 5th and climbing babeh!!!
Nobody would have blinked if this ended up 4-1. I’m not going to fret about the second half … I mean look, half the team was out on international duty for the past two weeks (how many Bournemouth players were away internationally … oh yeah, none!), Adama was recovering from injury, Boly is having fun with the nurses, … and we still spanked them! Usually we all know what happens after international break … no case of the international break blues this time!
Oh, and by the way, the team knew they’re off to Braga mid-week to wrap up Europa Cup qualification, so is anyone still confused about taking the foot off the gas pedal in the second half? Team played awesome and I actually never felt worried in this one. We were in control and played some terrific stuff. For every Bournmouth “near miss” anyone can mention, I can point out 3 other Wolves “near misses”. We were deserved winners by a country mile, and that’s all there is to it.
If there was just one thing I didn’t agree with in the game was the first yellow card for Francis. I thought that was unfair. Should have been a straight red. Guy chopped Jota’s legs off like Paul Bunyan felling a Xmas tree!
This was a good practice game for Wolves against a team in red and black stripes though, for when we play AC Milan, soon enough. 🙂
Let’s keep going Wanderers! You make us proud!
Go Wolves!
I don’t think I made a score prediction as the review arrived too late, but I was one goal out – theirs – again, so no matter.
I wasn’t there but assumed that after they went down to 10 men they doubled up in defence. But to be above Arsenal, Spurs and Man U in 5 th place and going well in the Europa thing is just great.
And great that Moutino has signed a new contract; what a goal yesterday !
Moutinho, a magician. Unbelievable player and one, if not the most gifted player I have ever seen in a Wolves shirt. Which is a loooooong time.
🙂
Bournemouth tactics, at the beginning of the game, seemed to be clogging our players. Maybe they thought we are full of softy Johnny Foreigners Wrong!!
Outstanding first half and a bit wobbly in the second.
Did I mention Moutinho?
He’s rather good you know.
Well, I hate to rain on people’s parade but it seems we didn’t play that well. Basically we won because the Cheats played badly. No, honestly, you can read all about it here…
https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/18056649.second-half-display-offers-cook-glimmer-positivity-unacceptable-first-45-minutes/
I especially love; “They didn’t do anything special, they didn’t score from a nice bit of play or they didn’t slice through us, it was just ourselves creating those chances. ”
Aren’t players tested for drugs any more ?
Hi Wolfman as l said in a previous post they are full of piss and wind.
Proud to be Wolves in Dorset.
Don’t sit on the fence Dorset….
l won’t Twixie sitting on a fence in Dorset you get a splinter in your arse!!!
Wolves Aye We.
Scintillating stuff from our heroes once more and the easing back in the second half can’t detract from the pure quality of the first. As Go Wolves said above, perhaps they were conserving a little energy for the Europa test on Thursday.
Either way, the season goes from strength to strength, as does the brilliance of our Joao whose free kick will be hard to better by anyone this season.
Shame Diogo’s perfectly good goal was chalked off but if the ref blows, there’s no going back. The lino shouldn’t have flagged. The ref’ shouldn’t have been so quick to blow. But you can’t blame VAR per se.
Bring on Braga. Enjoy the trip you lucky travellers.
Flying in under the radar. Last in the MOTD running order again; who are the London centric twerps who make these decisions.
Do we care? Well yes I do a bit but comfort myself that while everyone is looking away they’ve failed to notice the so called big 6 are being usurped . Leicester 2nd, Wolves 5th, Burnley 6th.
A revolution is happening and the old order are on the way out. It’s in the nature of things. History tells us that.
How shit are man utd? Absolute garbage. Fair play to the blades tho.
Should av kept me gob shut
That’ll be the day!!
Fuckin ell. Woke up in Texas ay they.
The Blades were brilliant today the Mancs got away with murder. A draw was heaven sent. 5th for the whole week.
Braga be very scared.
In all honesty was the blades 3rd goal (given by VAR) significantly different from Willy Boly at Leicester. Which was ruled out.? That said. Blades deserved summat’ out the game.
Yes it was different. It was much more of a hand ball than Wily’s. Consistency my arse!
A draw suited us better cos we stay 5th, so I was actually happy the goal stood today. 🙂
Good thing about this season. We am taking the fodder for 3 points. Last season we struggled. Just beaten Watford. Vile. Cheatmouth. Encouraging and still beat Citeh and drew at Arsenal as well. Like it.
Cheeseburger fodder…
https://talksport.com/football/634144/referee-var-wolves-bournemouth/
Mighty Atom fodder as well, for what it’s worth…absolutely HATE VAR with a passion. Not going to bore you all with a rant, as it’s all been said before, but at the moment, I just feel that the game that I love has been taken away from me a bit.
Strangely, I sort of felt the same when we had Hoddle at the helm…talk about sterile (and then huge relief when he resigned).
Yet another example of VAR not giving us anything. Leicester get a VAR every week. It’s ludicrous.
Like every other Wolves fan, I am overjoyed by the way the team has evolved into a very solid and reliable unit. My one concern is that the 1st eleven is quite far ahead of the next cab in rank. Other than Boly, who we know will walk straight in the first team, we don’t have that many choices that could replace a first eleven player without the feeling that the team is not as good. Case in point is Saiss, Does a reliable job yet most are worried he is a red card walking.
A couple of class players to be able to rotate the team and rest players yet remain top standard are required this Jan. Then I would feel a lot more comfortable.
Kudos to our fitness team who has kept a relatively small squad fit enough to play virtually twice a week for the last 3 months or so.
We’ve just handed out another 2-1 thrashing to another jumped-up and irritating team. For the second match running my 3-1 prediction was undone. Against Villa, Pedro went for glory in the last seconds when he should have given Cultrone an easy tap-in. The referee at Cheatingmouth spoilt an otherwise good display of refereeing by a single bad decision. Shame, as at 3-0 we would have been motoring, and it would have been a question of how many. But, things are different: in the recent past that thug of a Cheatingmouth skipper wouldn’t have been sent off; second yellow…don’t make me laugh, he would have got a medal from choir boy Howe. ,
I’ll take 2-1 every time. Howe’s that Eddie?
bookies making nuno favourite for arsenal job if they sack hooray enri.
really !!!!!!
Why would Dr. Nuno consider lowering his standards that much, and when will these “experts” get it through their thick heads that the old guard is changing, the “top six’ are no more, and like everything, change happens, and it is now the time of the Wolves.
Brain dead, the lot of them.
Couldn’t agree more Clive.
Do they think moutinho would have signed a new contract if he knew Nuno was on his bike.
Bloody arsenal are has beens
Now if it was Barcelona or real Madrid we should perhaps worry but bloody arsenal.
Do us a favour bookies save your breath.
We won’t worry about those other has beens, Barcelona or Madrid even when we play them in the Champions League next season!
Sit back. Light a cigar. Have a beer. Loff at Vile. Mind the gap.
Sitting down for the match and for once will be cheering on spud face and his stripey crew, I hope they give Vile a bloody good thrashing and keep the gap as wide as it should be.
Rumours abound of Nuno going to Arsenal…..wishful thinking Arse….he’s going nowhere!
Is see greasy is back with his magaluf haircut. Still fuckin shit tho
Greasy is an absolute twat but, to be fair, he’s quite good at football and better than that other Villa excuse for an England footballer, Mingy or should that be mangy?
Geordies must be shit losing to this bunch of rubbish.
Well i actually watched that pile of crap last night and IMO they should both be relegated.
That display of ….( hold on i almost said football)….what was supposed to be premier league football would have been better suited to league two at best.
The vile were marginally the better side but Newcastle were nothing short of abysmal and bruces answer was to put on Andy Carroll and bang the ball long in hope.
I have haven’t seen defending as bad as that by Newcastle since last Sunday morning down the park.
The vile finished in fifth place in division two last season and thats what it looked like.
Anyway on Wm last night a veela twat sent a message in saying he hoped nuno went to arsenal so that real Madrid wolves would fall apart well i have news for you Mr vile knob even if nuno did leave which he isn’t we still wouldn’t be as bad as your lot .
So the mighty wolves machine moves to Portugal on Thursday and then an interesting meeting with another promoted side from last season who actually can play football and should give us a game.
coyw.
Paul Merson might be looked upon as a bit of a twat by a lot of Wolves fans.
But he’s not always wrong.
He has made Nuno favourite to take over at Arsenal.
Wrong!
He also said:- “I think he could manage one of the top six teams, no worries at all”.
Right!
In fact he’s doing a very decent job at the moment.
Where are Arsenal again?…
Well said doog
The thing is with the “so called entitled top six’ is that for a few years there has been a gap under them to the rest .
Well not any more
Leicester, with all their help from var are very likely to finish in the top 4 as they don’t play in Europe ( like wot we do ) and wolves, Burnley, Sheff utd et el are encroaching on their space,
This is where it gets interesting though, in my humble opinion, clubs like arsenal, have celebrity fans ( Merson) and commentator fans who get pissed off when their once great team gets stuffed by new kids on the block, They can’t handle it , a bit like the twat at school who couldn’t play for shit but owned the ball so was going to pick the teams !
I listened to a podcast on my way to work today as usual and the first 20 mins of an hour segment was about Man U
Seriously, a mid table team that villa will beat next week!
It’s going to take a bit of time for the old to six to adjust but I can’t wait for next season to see how the media darlings showcase the start of 2020 – 2021
The top eight!!!!!!
The new to 6 !!!!
I don’t care who is on match of the day first ( iv not seen it for years) but one of the best games of football anywhere next weekend will be wolves v Sheff utd
( were arsenal and man City even around when we first played)
Utw
he has just proved it doog .
he is a twat !
now merson is saying the obvious “it should be pochetino ” which it will be … its bloody obvious or he wouldnt be saying it.
And now Merson consistent as ever reckons Arteta is the man for the job.

Ola porto e estamos a caminho
Hello Porto… we’re on our way….
Looking forward to this Europa experience… heading off to Brum airport early doors tomorrow and have promised Clive a FaceTime on Thursday before kick off….
Get in … qualification to the knockout stages….
On our way, On our way
To the Europe, we’re on our way.
How did we get there?
We don’t know.
How do we get there?
We don’t care.
All we know is Wolves are on their way…
A very Happy Thanksgiving to all fellow bloggers, Wolves fans, and all other football fans around the globe.
Have a great turkey day, except Braga.
Thanks but Thanksgiving was in October.
RIP Cradley Heathens.
Spent many a happy time at Dudley Wood, ground gone and team gone.
To all Wolves supporters in Portugal, take care and don’t take any risks.
Blimey went shopping for an hour with the missus, got back to find Wolves are 3-1 up.
I thought the KO was 8pm not 6pm.
One happy bunny three great goals and hopefully more to come in the second half.
Bugger.
At least can rest the players for the last european game.
