Old gold, soaked in sunshine, securing the trophy that Stan Cullis made his own – at the home of an old nemesis.
Champions!
In much the same manner as the preceding 43 games, the script couldn’t have been written any better, with the ghosts of Burnden past and Reebok present fully exorcised once and for all, and that glorious swagger back in our stride.
Thank you Nuno and thank you to all you wonderful Wolves players for continuing to create memories like these, when we were thinking that you’d exhausted them all over the course of this never ending campaign.
This 4-0 drubbing might have lacked the furore and bitten fingernails of our ‘Boro, Bristol and Cardiff conquests, but for those fans too long in the tooth to forget the heartache of 1995, this victory will conjure the exact same blissful, fuzzy feeling when we wake in the morning – joyous in the knowledge that this hasn’t been a dream.
This was Nuno at his finest. Our adopted son and first bona-fide cult hero since Bully. Born 1,500 miles from Wolverhampton, but bearing the very DNA of our club on his shoulders like he’s been here all his life.
His three-at-the-back formation has been too tough a nut to crack for a perplexed league all season, but when you mingle his system with genuine soul, then you’ve got an otherworldly leader of men, who’ve recorded some ethereal performances as a result.
Did he know that we’d never won against a Mick McCarthy side since the old mule left? Or that we blew up back in 2002 in a similar position to where we’ve been? That we’d not won in Middlesbrough since the 1950s? Or how about never triumphing at the Reebok Stadium in a league fixture before now? Wearing the fabric of our very existence like a cloak across his back, how can anyone believe he didn’t?
Whether or not we now reach 100 points is secondary, thanks to Nuno cracking more millstones around our necks than opponents’ hearts. These are memories to last longer than a screengrab of a league table. These are the days my friends, consigning those miserable nights of the past to absolute irrelevance.
Somewhere, in a working man’s club where cigarette-smoke-stained-walls appal, John McGinlay loiters, regaling the spiritless locals about the time he punched David Kelly in 1995 and prospered. He shovels Monster Munch into his gob, ferociously licking his beef stained fingers, salivating over what happened next. The barmaid pours him another pint, rolls her eyes and looks to the poor souls who’ve heard the story a thousand times before. She nods wearily. Big John picks at his teeth, necks his Thwaites and foams at the mouth some more. Nobody hears a thing.
Like it ever really mattered. Thanks to Nuno and what feels like a magical stroke of his beard, all such heartache is void, as the Trotters spiral into a paradigm they laughed they’d never enter, and we majestically stride towards the Promised Land they once blackened.
Make no mistake, this 4-0 win is every bit as sweet as the 29 others we’ve chalked up, as it forcefully underlines the power-shift that so many old foes find so unpalatable.
We are the one and only Wanderers? You bloody bet we are.

MARVELOUS!!
Wolves aye we.
Congratulations to those of you that l hoped l inspired with this post back in July 2017.
……”take the 16/1 about the Wolves to win the league ………AND FILL YOUR BOOTS!!!
My last wish for this season was granted today that was we get awarded a pen and Coady scores,do the players read this blog??
Of course the players read this blog and we all filled our boots, but only @ 15/1 and it nearly paid for my new season ticket. That was only money, what we have seen this season is above anything I have seen over the years and I have seen more than a few. A little message to Shocky he knows who he is, Benik all is forgiven you now are a Wolf !
Bedders we will see you next week, time and place please ?? I will write it on a label and put it round my neck for safe keeping.
Well done Cheesy on correct score, I could do with one of those.
Lastly thank you one and all for a briliant year Bloging.
Well done with your post in July 2017. However my first bet on us for the title at 16-1 was on 31st May, followed up with a few bets in early June. BetVictor wouldn’t take bets over a certain amount so I had to split them up over a period of time.
So,what’s your betting prediction for next season?
Middlesbrough, down to 9 men and we smashed them.
Cardiff, gave away 2 penalties, we smashed them.
Birmingham, training game, we smashed them.
Bolton, easiest game all season, we smashed them.
Anyone with a ticket who thinks they may not be able to make it for Sheff Wednesday, don’t miss it for the World, we’re on fire boys and girls.
Still at 50,000 feet after that display.
Guess which ticketmaster thought he was teaching in London next week and gave his 8 year old grandson his ticket, Now it looks like he can make it after all, but got no bleeding ticket,
What a bummer.
How to sneak an 8 year old under the turnstiles,……
No words to say except CONGRATULATIONS!
We are Wolves.
The best part of today’s training session was the noise.
At one point Mrs. CFH looked in and asked if we were at home.
Never ending singing.
I bet there are several thousand sore throats tonight………………and how I wish I had been there.
Bolton are a really poor side, deserving of where they are, but even so, we just walked round them.
Total domination.
Tears of pride and joy shed in Houston today, and I aint ashamed to admit it.
The ghosts of greasel, morgan, connor, zenga, jackett, solbacon, and mcdickwadhead well and truly exorcized.
Nuno, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
What a fitting way to seal the deserved title of champions!
That’s a 9-1 aggregate over Notlob this season – not that I’m gloating.
Especially pleasing to see – rather, listening in on Signal 107 – was how Afobe went about his work. I must admit I had my doubts about whether we should sign him up when the season ends but I think he might offer us something different (but, we still need a marquee striker).
Congratulations to everyone who bet on Wolves to go up as Champions. I’m just enjoying the glow of my team being Championes.
Was there for the Chorley games was there for the play off defeat and was there for the battle of Burnden but today made all that worthwhile . We are the one and only wanderers. You can now sing that to Wycombe and they will probably pass you. F**k you Bolton and I hope you rot in the pit of misery
Dilly fekin Dilly
ROFL
We’re now quoting adverts. I thought the one below was kinda funny………
(Thomas I hope your OK with the innuendo, if not I apologise in advance, let me know and I won’t do it again)
would like to thank you for the very interesting blogs you serve us ….Thank you Nuno for becoming a cult hero when at first everyone was saying Nuno who? you have become our lover , our father , our hero. Thank you to everyone connected with Wolves for making this season an exceptional season to remember . I would also like to thank Wolves on behalf of overseas fans who had the opportunity to feel at home by watching all the matches courtesy of Wolves TV. It was the next best thing to being at the ground….Thank you all….Let us strenghten and make next year another season to remember….Thank you Wolves…from Malta
WONDERFUL WANDERERS! Thank you . . . from Japan!
Jeff shi “knows all the rules in the fa book”
Lauri has Wolves in his heart
Fosun want champions league football at the Mol’x and have the funds to achieve it
Nuno could be our next Stan Cullis he is that good.
The team perform week in week out, the performances have been nothing short of exceptional.
The back room staff are all great and deserve credit, fitness has been a standout this year.
What a season roll on Saturday but do not want this season to end a real pleasure to be part of the Wolf pack.
In Nuno we trust – Wolves Aye We
Great shout out for the Fitness staffing
Every other season we’ve seen lathergic players unable to cope with playing 2 x 90 minutes in a week.
This year, I have never seen any boloxt after 60 minutes.
Just wanted to know if I could train with the first team at some point? As I need to shed a couple of pounds & try to beat my personal best of Chippie to Home in 2 minutes 37 secs!
Watch out Premier League, here comes the Wolf Pack.. WE ARE THE WOLF PACK!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4U0hCmAzRsg
cant we have that as the team walk on music…………..
I was watching the semi final FA Cup match between ‘the usual suspects’ today and commented to the PMDG’er:-
“Football’s quite tasty but where’s the passion in the fans?
Where’s the singing?
Where’s the total support from thousands from the first to the last minute?”
Then I remembered.
It was at Bolton… and Cardiff…and Bristol….and ‘Boro…and…
…of course, Molineux.
We, who have witnessed the unbelievable happenings this past few months, will NEVER, EVER forget them.
This season will go down in the annals alongside those of the mist and memory enshrouded years of long ago when Wolverhampton Wanderers bestrode the World of football like a colossus.
The names of the players will be spoken, in reverent tones, in the same breath as those of Wright and Wagstaffe, Doog and Bully, Hancocks and Broadbent – and all the rest of the Golden Boys of yester year.
I am so proud to be a Wolves supporter.
And so proud of all the new heroes who have made this wonderful season possible.
To them all…
A huge thank you!
Bloody brilliant The Wolves Are Back.
Well done everybody.
al MaltaWolf met Alfie Malta Wolves last week in a restaurant in Wolves you are all a credit to come all that way makes our 310 mile round trip seem simple. Top class people.
Wolves Aye We.
Malta Wolves Aye We.
THE CHAMPIONS………..THE CHUMPIONS………..
SPOT THE INTERLOPER…
Hahahaha that’s fekin brilliant.
I hear JT could be stopping on at Veeeeela next year!
Accordingly to it Greaseless is so good they need some to clean his boots! REALLY
FOvilla & JT
Very good though as I was brung up proper I’m not sure it’s right to mock the afflicted. I mean poor JT, no class, no brains, no integrity, no principles and stuck in a second rate team who appear yet again to have missed the boat. 😉
Out of darkness cameth light! The prophesy has been fulfilled. We are CHAMPIONS!
Let the adventure begin and the good times roll.
For the very first time in a very long while, I am looking forward to next season.
Can’t wait to see what next lies in store.
Go Wolves!!!
Check out the second picture in Ben’s write up.
Wearing a brown jacket, and not smiling…………………our very own, the one and only…
.Mr. Mark Davies!!!
Bang on the Money Clive.
Mr & Mrs Lowves, Jenny and I spent a good half hour in his company yesterday at Bolton, you have a clip round the ear coming in two weeks time.
Well spotted.
We are the Champions my friend.
Cause we kept on fighting till the end.
We are the Champions.
We are the Champions.
No time for losers, Cause we are the Champions.
In the end…….
Another fabulous performance on our journey to greater things. Thank you everyone.
A question. Was the inclusion of DB today meant to show Nuno`s appreciation for his long term service to the club ? Perhaps a bit of a swan song against a poor side where his known defensive inadequacies would go without penalty ? I sincerely hope that this was the case.
Ryan Bennett has been outstanding throughout the season. When he has played alongside Boly and Coady we have had a defence which has been almost impenetrable. Results are there for all to see. Unfortunately DB is nowhere near this standard.
The performances of Bennett thoroughly warrant the opportunity for him to now bask in supporter`s appreciation for his key part in our success. I for one will be very disappointed if he is not selected for the final two games of the season. He deserves nothing less.
Its time for celebration my friend. WHY do you talk nonsense about our own boys?????
What a miserable life you must have!!
Agreed MauriWolf.
DB has been a loyal servant to us over many years and a damn fine role model for young, aspiring, fans and footballers alike.
He deserves his share of the glory.
A lot of bloggers don’t attend many, if any, of our matches but we respect their views and comments on this site.
Danny may not be part of the first team now but his contribution over the years to the club and community has certainly earned my respect.
Watched the goals on channel 5 last night think I had a farther ted kick Ken up the arse moment ‘was that Burton player wearing a bra’ ??
Mike,
Ryan picked up a knock in training Thusday we were told, but he was included on the bench (token gesture) so he could at least bask in the truly amazing scenes yesterday.
Both he and Cav are expected to figure before the season is done, which is even better news as we only have the two left, this tells me Cav is not too serious.
On Ryan, he has been a rock apart when he was rocked at Flum, he is a no-nonsense, old school right back who has grown under Nunoism, to think the Naarwich fans took to our websites to say how glad they were he’d gone.
Who’s laughing now. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Fabulous now off to the bookmakers when they open up at 09:30 to collect my winnings!!
Apparently Harry Kane is claiming the penalty goal as he can’t believe that Conor Coady scored.
Firstly, thanks Ben for putting into words the ever increasing intensity of emotion that has marked this incredible season.
Secondly, I’m with Exiledwolf. As a listener to Mikey Burrows match commentary, the absolute, unending din from the away support was fantastic. The very heart and soul of Molineux was transported to Notlob and cheered our teams every scintillating move from their golden hearts.
I first saw this, our new team, in the pre-season friendly against Leicester and even then it was obvious something was going on. They actually seemed to have a plan. They passed to each other, quickly and accurately. There was always a man in space able to receive. After all which had gone before, it was something of a shock.
As it was, so it remained. In fact it got better. We hit the top of the league and never relinquished our position. We played all season like we were superior and we knew it. Untouchable.
Who knows what happens next. Two games left, the first of which I am fortunate enough to have a ticket for. A transfer window to strengthen us further. Then bring on the ‘big boys’.
I have a feeling that one or two of them are in for something of a shock.
If Paul Lambert had these players, I’m convinced he would have gotten us into the playoffs.
There may well be others who think the same as you Timbo……… but I aint met them yet.
That may well be true Tim, but several of the players quoted the presence of NES as their main reason for coming here.
It was a joke. Nuno is obviously a better coach. That being said, can’t compare both records because Nuno has better players.
The sun is shining on this beautiful Sunday morning and I am bathed in the warm old gold glow.
Prouder than an incredibly proud peacock.
Grandchild number 4 arrived at 3 minutes past midnight this morning so not had much sleep. He is a right bobby dazzler. No name yet so Nuno, Ruben, Champion and Wolf are all names still in the hat!
At this rate our own Thomas will give Mo Farrah a run for his money in the London Marathon!
Anyone who still doubts Benik Afobe must be having a laugh, being deliberately perverse or just simply been watching a different Wolves team to the one I’ve been watching. Then again some people thought Dave Edwards – an unused sub for relegation threatened Reading yesterday – was great and a ‘legend’.
Oh and by the way;
Ryan Bennett, Danny Batth, Willy Boly, Conor Coady, Matt Doherty, Barry Douglas, Oscar Buur, Ruben Vinagre, Romain Saiss, Alfred N’Diaye , Ruben Neves, Helder Costa, Ivan Cavaleiro, Diogo Jota, Bright Enobakhare, Leo Bonatini, Benik Afobe, Donovan Wilson and Nouha Dicko.
19 different scorers this season. A new club record. If we get a penalty against Wednesday or Sunderland how about letting John Ruddy step up? 😉
OODCL
Bedders,
I also gave a thought to big John when Coady stepped up, thinking how unfair life can be.
Big John hasn’t even had a shot on target let alone a goal in this wonderful season of goals from everywhere (well nearly everywhere!)
So as we’re now Champions, how about a start for young William of the Norris & play big John up front as a number 10 behind Benik.
Then we could see just what it is like to play hoof ball ala PooLess?
Then cus both Wednesday & Sunderland are do shit, big John could become the first ever goalie to score a hatrick in one match.
Doesn’t Ruddy have an assist. Not bad for a goalie.
Hearty congrats on the new member of the family Dave. What a joyous time for the youngster to arrive in the world.
Just one thing though. I’m not sure Dave Edwards non-appearance for Reading is a valid reason for criticising his abilities generally. After all, Benik, as great as he is, couldn’t get into a piss poor Bournemouth team.
See y’all next week.
Congratulations! Grandchildren are the reason I am still feeling young, they are great fun, so full of life and energy.
🙂
Congratulations Bedders. I’m guessing Dave or Edward aren’t your preferred names for the baby.
Oddly enough I think Edward is currently the preferred first name!
Not a bad choice mate, be dead funny if they chose your name for his second name though.
Congratulations. We have just handed ours back – a joyous weekend with the grandkids, topped off by an amazing result.
I must admit I thought everyone had a good game and also thought Afobe had a cracker…….. amazing work ethic.
See you on Saturday #excited.
I think if we are up by 3 goals with 5 minutes to go. But that would be showing no respect for the other team and we should try to be bigger than that.
Let’s not make a mockery of the league or we will just give other teams and fans a reason to hate us.
Memo to Tim. (A) I was in a happy mood and so was having a joke. (B) Most teams in this division already hate us. It’s called jealousy and sour grapes.
OODCL
Fair enough, but I think some fans have suggested it elsewhere and they seemed serious.
Yawn!
Come on Timbo, enjoy the ride mate, let’s not get overly serious.
WHAT IS IT WITH THE MEDIA?
Is it cuz we am gold?
BBC has us 3rd news after Wigan and Luton.
WM commentary was villa and blues.
Doe they like us or summat.
Monday 7th May, for anyone local and who is still sober.
https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/club/20180420-wolves-and-council-announce-special-event/
Absolutely brilliant…….again!
In all my 65 years on this planet……. 🙂
We have been down but never out. We have been beaten and bruised. Lambasted in the media. Horrible, nasty snide remarks from people who think they know all about football.
Well they can all fcuk off.
We are Wolves
We are reborn
We are Champions
Out of darkness cometh light??
You had better believe it!!!
Ben,
Wonderful write up & spot on.
I’ve looked back at my last 40 years watchin Wolves last night & easily concluded that the Class of 2018 aka Nunoism the 1st, is by far the greatest team/s I’ve seen play consistently in all my days.
Yes there has been the odd Wonder Game over the years – wins over the shite (Dean Richards header 5 yards from me when we played them off the park 2:0 at the Mol & Iwan’s hatrick at the Shite) Liverpool last year with 8,000 of the 12th man) but NOTHING COMPARES TO THIS COLLECTIVE SEASON
Bristol I think was as they say “season defining”, Boro was probably the time to believe the footballing gods, Cardiff was when my missus found the penny on the car-park (& it doesn’t leave my personage) oh and them peno’s, when I really believed that we’d be crowned Champions.
So now that WWFC have metaphorically turned the corner, then the owners, chairman, MD, all deserve much praise for what you have done to MY CLUB, but a special place in my heart will permanently be given over to Nuno for ever.
The remainder of the staff, the WHOLE of this team TO A MAN (no exceptions here!) the 12th man & of course this here blog have all given me immense pride & pleasure in bucket-fulls to be a part of something I think will truely put “Wolves on the World Stage” & for this in remain faithful & truely committed.
So much so that if I had to meet my maker now I could go a happy bunny (or Wolf)
Thank you, thank you & once again I sincerely thank you one & all.
This wonderful season is drawing to a close … and I can simply reiterate everything noted above.
So looking forward to the next two games … Sheff Wed and mixing with a boat load of bloggers on Saturday evening and then Sunderland at the Stadium of Darkness following their relegation confirmation…. mixing again with a cruise boat load of bloggers and CLIVE FROM HOUSTON.
I have a sneaky feeling that a few wines are going to be downed…
I thought it prudent to just check on some stats following our huge blip at Villa back on March 10th when all vile fans thought they would overtake us on route to the Premiership…. FEK OFF YOU WERE AVIN A LAUGH…..
WOLVES … played 10 ..won 8 … drawn 1 … lost 1… 25 points from a poss 30…. blip …what blip.
See you all on Saturday…
I was just thinking (painfully after last night) that in our championship/cup winning teams of yore, there was always a player or even players in our first eleven who I was never quite ‘sure of’, can I put it. I never really understood how they kept getting in the team.
I’ll mention no names, this is not a witch hunt. My point is that for the first time since I saw Mike Bailey lead out the Wolves, EVERY SINGLE PLAYER impresses the bloody hell out of me and I wouldn’t swap them for any other player in the league. They have been and have been moulded, by the quite sublime Nuno, into probably the most potent, powerful and perfect football team I have seen at Molineux.
I take nothing away from former teams, they gave us some great days and memories, but this bunch are about as good as it gets for me. I mean, I know it will happen, but I don’t want to see the back of any of em and I think it will be a painful experience when it inevitably happens and I don’t envy Nuno’s job in that respect for an instant.
Luckily I can just sit back and bask in the memories of season 2017/18, it’s gonna take some beating!
UTW
RickRack.
If you met your maker now you would not miss out on anything, coz surely after this season, the whole world knows he ( or she) is a Wolves fan and you two would meet in the NBB!
Clive,
He OR She, who is this imposter?
What have you done with CfH?
I do reckon when you turn up to the pearly gates in you’re ode wolves top, you be let in with a VIP pass.
Now if you were unlucky enough to end up there in a Tesco carrier bag, yes you all know what will happen “Dilly fekin Dilly” – it’s off to the Pit of Misery or commonly known as the Poorthornes
DILLY DILLY
PS, I did forget to thank the other 2 x managers that have given me a lot of pleasure this year
Stand Up & Be Counted (yes counted)
Mr Anthony PooLess
And
Mr Alan (never been any good) Partjew
Because of these 2 x sad fekers WBA & BET365 have clubbed together to pay for my Premier Season Ticket & if I can get one an AST too
DILLY DILLY
FOwb
Anyone know if you can get SKY Premier League in heaven?
Plus you will be able to watch Wolves on sky TV.
And, if Swansea somehow manage to win today at Citeh, then the shit are down!!
Now we just need Thomas to win the London Marathon and it will be a perfect weekend!
I’ve not long got up I’m on my third cup of tea and telling myself NO it wasn’t a dream it really happened and you were there with your brother Chris who I have shared my love of Wolves with for all our lives he is 52 and I’m 50 but we were both close to tears at the end and for ONCE these were not tears of frustration injustice Mc Fuckin McGinnley these were happy tears .
The game we missed the third goal queuing up for a few beers and bumping into many a friend and hugging and shaking hands and all of us say ” can you believe it ” and yes I can.
All jealous rivals and other Clubs will not spoil this for us these wankers seem to of overlook the last thirty or more years were we nearl went out of exciststance, when we dropped like a stone down the leagues and dragged ourselves up angain and only a few seasons ago were in league one no that has conveniently slipped there tinny narrow little minds.
This is our time boys the Gold and Black will once again compete with the Reds The Gunners, City and United we have earned the right and no one, no one can say we haven’t.
There are seasons in your life you hate and some you love, this is in the love boat (see what happened there).
Well I thought it could not possible get better than this year, but hey ho, the footy Dogs just don’t love WWFC.
Iv’e just watched my 8 year old Grandson play, he’s the little Bennett of the team, but in the last 3 weeks he’s brought a huge lump to my throat. He has come on leaps and bounds and appears to have found Nuno.
Today at 0-0 the goalie fluffed the ball and one of the kids bends down and picks the ball up, bless…..
But a penalty non the less.
The usual characters grab at the ball, but then the manager shouts to Seb, (my boy) and makes hom take it, (Coady scenario Mark 2)
Well he only goes and buries it sweet as a nut.
Nanny and Granddad behaving like bloody Wolves fans, leaping and whooping like we’d won the league.
Finished 1-0, proud as feck, what a weekend.
Finish it off for me Swansea.
Stu your in the know………when is the new kit comming out and who’s making it……..still Puma or your missis in the spare room…?
Don’t know when, but the strong rumour is it’s Nike or Adidas this time.
Pure rumour.
Fosun are more professional in every department than the previous regimes, where the underlings were only too delighted to spill the beans on any piece of gossip.
Watching the goals again reminded me why we SHOULD sign Benik.
We can score the most delectable of goals from 25 yards, 25 passes, set pieces and cheeky chip ins.
What he gives is another way which we don’t really have without him.
We have the defenders who can hit long, accurate balls and with Benik we have just the man to take full advantage.
Call it a Plan B, C, D, or whatever.
It’s another way to score and in the Premier League we will need all the Plans we can muster.
**TICKET UPDATE**
I’ve had a Sunderland fan friend go into the ticket office to try and get me some extra tickets…
He was met with the reply … It wasn’t possible to give extra tickets …this is because Newcastle fans are trying to get tickets to …in essence take the piss…
Doesn’t look good I’m afraid…
Sunderland are such morons. A stadium that holds 48,500 where they’ve been averaging 25,500 all season – even for crucial matches and even then thousands of them leave at half time if they’re losing – and yet they are only giving us 2,589 tickets which is gross incompetence on their part. If they really want 23,000 empty seats then more fool them. If they really are that incompetent then they deserve to go down and stay down. Can’t wait till they play Accrington Stanley next season as by then they’ll be 33,000 empty seats – and that’s WITH Accrington’s 2,589 fans!
Thanks for the update Twix. I’m sitting pretty…….well ok, I’m sitting.
See you on Saturday.
All that hatred bottled up inside. I remember hating the Montreal Canadiens when I, as a frustrated Toronto Maple Leaf fan, had to listen to how much better they were than my team but I would never have gone out of my way to do something like that.
I guess us Canadians really are nicer than everyone else.
BECAUSE WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS…
The latest story is that Neves was shopping at Sainsburys and one of the workers asked if he was staying and he said “yes” three times.
I think he would be crazy to go because he is settled at Wolves, he is starting regularly, he is loved by the fans, he has a young family and this would upset the routine and he seems to like and/or respect the coach.
Why would he take a gamble and go somewhere else where fans will expect miracles and he might have to fit into a system that is not as good a fit for him. Plus, he might get stuck with a coach/manager that is not as good towards their players as Nuno seems to be. Like Jose or someone.
He is 21 and has plenty of time to go to a top 4 team if Wolves progress stalls.
BTW, if Wolves aren’t in the top 6 at Christmas, “Nuno out”.
The Neves rumours are just that.
He is staying.
I think 80% of his playing career has been for Nuno who is obviously a Father figure to him.
It would be senseless to move.
This is the best Wolves team I have ever seen.
A Mendes/Espirito Santo Production destined for the top six.
Although individuals stand out, the team is only a sum of its parts.
Already looking forward to next season…..
For all you overseas fans who don’t get to savour this, fill your boots guys and gals, this is my passion.
Wolves On Tour.
https://mobile.twitter.com/wolves/status/988004159302590464
That is just awesome. What a season!!!
Yesterday was as comprehensive a dismantling of another team as I have ever seen. Fair play to Bolton, at least they didn’t try to kick/punch us off the park but they quite simply weren’t good enough even to be competitive.
I get the impresssion that the players bought into Nuno’s philosophy very early and that since the start of the season it has been more about refining it and perfecting it. Well, in the games against Derby and Bolton I believe we have seen that philosophy at its best. Two utterly dominant performances. Long may it continue.
At such a historical moment, this blog is perhaps not the place to blog about another match, but I’m going to anyway, because my visit to Durby v ‘Boro yesterday (pause for sympathy) showed quite clearly what we have had this season that makes the difference and has been so utterly bleeding’ memorable.
1. Playing the ball out of defence, holding it until there is an outlet, not just hoofing it vaguely in the channels (at best)
2. Passing to (v skilful) feet all over the pitch
3. the ability to bring the ball out of a tackle with either foot, wrong-footing the opponent (this has been a real feature to my mind)
4. Taking enough of our chances (though it’s still an area that will need sharpening up in the Prem)
5. Players (nearly) always available, looking for space, looking for the pass
6. and most of all, real quality players, round pegs in round holes.
All, of course, brought about, nurtured and honed by our very own football God and shaped into a remarkable relationship between players, staff, owners and fans, all apparently singing from the same song sheet.
All of which tells you that much of the Durby-Boro’ game was very much an also-rans game. ‘Boro deserved the win because once they settled they played it more on the ground and more confidently, taking their chances. The fans were noisier than I’d heard (as a rare visitor, I hasten to add) at Pride Pk for some time – until ‘Boro scored when they lost their voices, and the fire drill swung into action after about 80mins. Boro fans kept the volume up to about 50% of Wolves away, especially with the cruel chant’ “It’s happening again, Derby County, it’s happening again”!
And if you think Champ refs have been wanting and we will have better in the Prem, you should have seen Lee Probert – first yellow within the first minute and after that it’s a miracle that 22 players remained on the pitch. Dire (though I think he reffed our game there and was pretty good).
Anyway, you knew all this, but just saying! How I long for a returned ticket for Saturday.
Isn’t Coady a square peg in a round hole?
Ha! Nice one. He would have been under Zenga/Lambert, but Nuno’s filed the edges off.
I think we should see it as Connor being an ill fitting peg in previous seasons who has now found the correct shaped hole. So to speak.
No mate, he was, until Nuno put him in his true position.
Still loffing fekin Wolves Ay We
Citeh just dismantled Swansea 5-0 and it is very obvious that they have taken inspiration from WWFC! I was very lucky to be at Bolton yesterday because this was a serious savaging of a club I have come to loathe. Deeply rooted grievances about referees and players (one last kick in the bollocks for ‘super John). Well vengeance was sweet yesterday and I was highly delighted at several renditions of’ John McGinlay you’re a wanker. You’re a wanker’ from the deservedly gloating Wolf Pack. He who laughs last laughs loudest. After many unsavoury battles the enemy truly cast aside and destroyed. Football fans have long memories. This was sweet. Very sweet. The Nuno phenomenon has swept aside many old peculiarities. I really hope we get to play Smethwick Town in the cup next year. At Smethwick. A ground we have not won on since 1996. Big Ewan doing the business. Enduring Lee Fucking Hughes doing that stupid dance after converting a dubious penalty. Matt Carbon unpunished assault on George Ndah which broke his leg. The injury time equaliser in, 2011.Megsons horrible ginger head and whining voice. All of this needs to be subjected to the ‘Nuno Effect’ and divine deliverance be sent on to us. So many brilliant moments it is almost as if God is looking down and saying he approves. May be we do get them in the cup next year and dish out a damp good thrashing. But for now it is bye bye Bolton. Bye bye Baggies.’we’ll meet again. Don’t know where don’t know when. But I know we’ll meet again some sunny day’.
Does anybody know how Thomas got on in the London Marathon today? I see it was the hottest on record. Here’s wishing him well.
Anyone else think it a bit odd that there’s no post Bolton Nuno interview on the Wolves Youtube channel?
Mrs Lowves and I have watched every minute of every game this season home and away, league and cup, starting with Leicester pre -season.(We had to race back from Newcastle where our cruise shop docked that morning, and made it to Molineux with 10 minutes to spare.) We had been out of the loop regarding the team whilst away, so were amazed at the quality of our team, we hadn’t a clue who our number 3 was but was very impressed, as we were with the rest of the team
We have been frightened to miss a game since because every game has been an “I was there” game. The football has been better than I have seen for years, probably ever, we have heroes all over the pitch
Always proud to be a Wolves fan, this season we can sing it from the rooftops “Wolves aye we, and we are premier league” and what’s more we will be a fixture, not a relegation candidate.
A big thank you to Saint Nuno of Wolverhampton for his guiding hand, and the complete squad for their skill, hard work, and dedication
Looking forward to the last two games, and meeting a few more bloggers after the games.
I must say after hearing that noise on the radio 4 up did create a very big gulp and extremely watery eyes..
It is truely incredible that we are experiencing all this and I am constantly reminding myself that this isn’t all a dream..
It’s as if God has looked down on us and repaid the misery of the past and I mean the real God not Neves..
Imo the big thanks must really go to Mendes
Who ever now can criticise his influence?
I don’t think anyone can crticise him Steve.
What a season.
And what a game Afobe had. Wonderful to see him play like that. His best game since coming back imo.
Just to keep tabs on possible signings.

Hope this link works.
Another report on the AC Milan game. Just what we need. Some great player who is going through a tough period and needs a change in scenery. Not a great report regarding his level of play but great from the perspective that it makes it more likely that AC Milan will want to get rid of him.
http://www.espn.com/soccer/club/ac-milan/103/blog/post/3466385/andre-silva-4-out-of-10-in-poor-all-round-team-performance-from-milan-against-benevento
It’s all about the right player in the right system. If Nuno thinks he’s the right man for the job, that’s more than good enough for me.
Happy St Georges Day to all you English folk out there.
From a very Scottish StuWolf…..
Just been reading a couple of interesting articles re Sunderland tickets.
Molineux Mix site saying how ludicrous it is and especially as Sunderland’s rationale is that they don’t want to give Wolves more tickets in case naughty Newcastle fans buy them and come and gloat. As they point out – how exactly would Newcastle fans be able to buy tickets that have been allocated to Wolves? It just wouldn’t happen. So once again in this crazy world we live in the interests of the masses come second to a perceived minority issue.
On several Sunderland fansites there are suggestions of a boycott for their last game against Wolves. Sunderland fans stay away to show their displeasure at the way their club is being run. Make the ground as empty as possible – apart from the Wolves fans – they say.
How farcical that as it looks at the moment a stadium that holds 48,707 will probably have less than around 24,000 home fans (most of whom tend to leave at half time if their team is losing), 2,600 away fans and at least 22,107 empty seats! And yet those of us who want to go but haven’t been able to get one of the 2,600 tickets are looking at having to pay £132 to sit in a box where you can’t wear any colours or cheer when your team score.
Sunderland really are a pathetic and small minded little club.
You could not make it up.!!!!!!
That is why I am not giving Sunderlandover 100 quid. I would rather sit in the home end.
I have now decided that I will not be going to the game.
It is ridiculous and Sunderland are behaving like the pathetic and badly run club they truly are. First it was due to fear of Newcastle fans buying tickets to gloat – load of rubbish, wouldn’t happen, just an excuse. Now it is for ‘logistical’ reasons and fear of upseting some STH’s. The same STH’s who will be losing their seats next season as that part of the ground will be shut! And all this on a day when several Sunderland supporter’s groups have called for a boycott of the game to demonstrate their displeasure at the way the club is run. At this rate there will be about 15,000 in the stadium and around 34,000 empty seats! I wouldn’t go in the home seats myself.
I am deeply disappointed as had been looking forward to this away game since November last year when my hotel was booked.
However
(a) a five hour train journey up there, and another five hour train journey back the next day meaning I get home at 930pm on the Sunday night costs me £100 PLUS
(b) a minimum spend of £50 – lets face it more like £100! – for the Saturday night shenanigans PLUS
(c) £132 to sit in a sterile atmosphere where I am not allowed to wear my Wolves colours or express myself and join in the party
And all for a game that is now largely meaningless for both clubs?
Of course I am trying to come up with logical and rational reasons why I’m not bothered about not going but the truth is I am gutted and if I could get a normal ticket I would be there like a shot and wouldn’t mind the expense – its only money after all! – but £300+ with a large chunk of it going to those miserable lying gits called Sunderland AFC? No.
Deeply, deeply disappointed and has put a decided dampener on my end of season plans.
That is sad mate. Clive will miss you.
I am curious as to how spontaneous reactions to Wolves scoring can be curtailed by Sunderland stewards.
Bit like Nuno at Bristol.
Also, as long as clothing covers naughty bits, and contains no offensive swear words, how can it not be allowed in their boxes?
Do they ban cheering and opponents colors in other parts of their “special” stadium?
Would love to be thrown out and then sue the bastards for discrimination.
They are supposedly afraid of Newcastle fans taking the piss.
What, pray, do they think Wolves fans are going to do?
No wonder its called stadium of light.
Light on common sense.
Light on brain cells.
Light on supporters.
Light on income.
Light on points.
To paraphrase our motto, out of stupidity cometh light!
If ever a team deserved to get relegated through total ineptness, Sunderland is that team.
Anyway, bollocks to them.
We’ll all have a good time on the Saturday night, come what may.
Looking forward to meeting up with all you fellow bloggers again.
Still dont think Afobe is worth keeping, and Jota should patent his goal scoring style as Diogo’s Dink.
Brilliant, just fuckin’ brilliant.
Looks increasingly likely that you won’t be able to buy me all those pints you owe me on 5/6 May! As things stand I am not going. By the way, we should sign Afobe! 😉
I was in one of their boxes a few seasons ago with work colleagues. Whilst I did not wear colours I still jumped up and shouted when we scored on all 3 occasions.

Well it certainly was a day to remember. I absolutely loved it.
Well done and thank you Wolves for an amazing and unforgettable season.
BOG
I don’t want to sound like a pedant BOG, but a Norton Commando was a 750cc beast not 650.
Apart from that, perfectly accurate.
Well spotted and quite right DOOG – my apologies. It was a 750cc.
Built in Wolverhampton as well I believe.
What a season……
Norton also made an 850cc Commando later on I believe, I used to have a 500cc Dominator twin with twin Amal carbs in the early sixties, it was my pride and joy, I polished the aluminium sump and gearbox covers till they were like chrome, looked amazing. My best mate at the time had the later model which was a 600cc Dommie (rich sod)
I stand to be corrected but I think they were made in Bracebridge Street in Birmingham at that time. Oh how I wish I had kept it, it would be worth a fortune now. Would love another bike but Mrs Lowves has put a block on it, says I’d kill myself…she’s probably right.
I used to have a Dominator who polished my shiny bits…………………but I think that is a different topic!!!
The only shiny bit I’ve got nowadays is the top of my head!
To be even more pedantic DG and BOG, the Commando was enlarged to 850 in it’s later years. No louder though….it’s silencers were enlarged too.
I thought Motorhead should have been somewhere near the top of the list though.
I don’t count the 850 as a proper Commando.
Enlarged and overstressed.
The original 750 was the one to have.
Couldn’t agree more DG. Especially the Fastback. Mmmm….the thing wet dreams are made of.
Talking of which…
And before anybody complains, it was the bike, not the bird .
( If you believe THAT you’ll believe that sandwell won’t be relegated).
This poster graced my bedroom wall for many a year.
Blimey all this talk of super bikes makes my Rayleigh Chooper look tame!!!!!
She’s a beauty to be sure DG. Pity they didn’t let the cleaner lady get out of the way before they took the photo though.
Beats the one I was after, way way back .
Aaahhh! Bless. I can just see you rippin’ up the tarmac on that Brompto’.
BE LOUD, BE PROUD…
It’s in the bank, it’s in the baaaaannk,
Thank you Wolverhampton
It’s now in the bank.
See you at the bar in the Novotel on the 28th guys ……. my round.

Is it a treasure hunt?
Congratulations mate. Looking forward to that drink in the Novotel.
Are you in the Billy Quiet? I’m in W9 (Upper).
No, Steve Bull J1 A27 . The only seat I could get. I hope the guy who is selling me his Sunderland ticket turns up at the hotel as he said he would !!!
See you there buddy.
Don’t put it all in your wallet mate …. use a suitcase …. with tractor wheels if necessary……!
Brompt,
Enjoy your richly deserved winning for having faith in the boys
Fill you boots, then fill them a little more & keep your fingers crossed for me that the shite go down, then we’ll share a glass of smugness in Sunderland. & I’ll change my handle to Smuggy McSmugface
Top man.
Please FOwb
Just saw an interview with Nuno after the Bolton game. Or is it Notlob.
Thank goodness for that!
I thought he was off being interviewed for the Arsenal job.
…Or maybe he fancied getting a near neighbour back in the Prem.
Take your pick which one, they could all do with him.
I think I figured out why that Portuguese reporter thinks Neves is going to Liverpool.
He knows Liverpool are interested in Neves and heard we made contact with Talisca’s agent and assumed it was as a replacement for Neves, instead of in addition to Neves.
He probably assumed Wolves couldn’t afford both.
So that is where the rumour comes from, I’m thinking.
It is time for a hilarious joke. NAME THREE CLUBS THAT CONTAIN UNSAVOURY WORDS WITH IN THEIR NAME? Scunthorpe Arsenal and West Bromwich Fucking Albion… Ha ha. Loff ay it. Plans for Saturday include wearing the Wolves underpants. Kicking next door neighbours cat for having a shit in my garden. Explaining to the thick twat at work that we have Wednesday on Saturday. But not every week. Easily confused. Villa fan ay e. Climbing on the Mon on the Oss and singing the LIQUIDATOR. Celebrating the relegation of THE SHIT. Workshop at the alter at the Temple, Molineux and proclaim Saint Nuno. Apart from that fuck all really. FWAW!
Classic!
Love it!
FO wbfa
Love it. I am still laughing.
Worship not workshop. Fuckin predictive text.
Another possible striker for Wolves.

I thought we could not book in our room until 2m.
We can get there anytime and drop our bags etc and then get in the bar!
What time does the tab (Brompton) get there..?
May well attend for a few beers Pre match. If any fucker is there!
You will be very welcome COD – the drinks are on Brompton after his mega-bucks caning of the bookies.
Big Dave took his Albion team to visit an orphanage to take their minds off their plight.
” It’s so sad to see their sad little faces without any hope” said little Jimmy aged 6
Absolutely fantastic write-up Ben. Mirrored my feelings exactly. Although truth be told nothing can really erase what happened in 95, apart from Nuno leading us to Premier League glory! Who knows, who knows….
I hate it when blogger compare Nuno to God.
I mean he’s very good but he’s no Nuno is he?
Mrs CFH threatened to kick me out because of my obsession with The Monkees.
I thought she was kidding,
Then I saw her face…………
Excellent.
😉
I can quite believe that.
Well, I’m a believer……
I just said that, but in a different guise.
On this very day a mere 64 years ago Wolverhampton Wanderers became champions of England for the very first time.
24 April 1954.
I really hope that when we win it for the 4th time all of you old-timers out there are still around to see it. I don’t think it will be too long!

Bang on Bedford
What was the feeling like back then, Bedders?
Somewhere I’ve got a black & white postcard of Jimmy Mullen holding the trophy – which puts the FA Cup to shame.
Just purchased two tickets for the Sunderland game for me and Susan so a big thank you to – Partick Thistle, Livingston, St Mirren, Arbroath, Raith Rovers, Annan Athletic, Berwick Rangers and Clyde for all winning on my accumulator last Saturday and covering the cost – and I know sweet FA about Scottish football.
‘Scottish’ and ‘Football’ – two words that don’t really go together Newark.
A bit like ‘sandwell’ and ‘Premier League’.
Apologies to Stu, I’m still feeling the effects of St George’s Day.
How did you get tickets?
In an executive box Steve. Sunderland won’t give us normal tickets but they are more than happy to sell expensive corporate seats. £264.00 for two but like I said I won a few hundred pounds on Saturday and we have already paid for the hotel and train tickets so we have to go really.
I won a few bucks too, but I chose not to give feck all to Sunderland lol. Mind you, I have a normal ticket which I am collecting on Saturday at the Clarenden at 1330.
Well I’m shocked and disappointed, after I was so feckin nice to you Eeeenglish Wankers.
Not surprised you guys are so bitter, after all, your Eeeengland Coach has gone in the press today and said, He’s looking at Connor Coady, bit he’s got to prove himself in the Premier” he also said, “ he won’t playany players that are in the Championship”
I bet that’s pissed off Ryan Sessin what’s his face from Flum.
Good luck with him picking the best players for your only 3 games in Russis.
Long way to go to get the shit kicked out of you and then come home so quickly.
At least we get to the World Cup regularly, and don’t have to use skates and a bent stick.
Don’t get me started on that.
Canadians who parents were born here play hockey and we have delegated football to the immigrants since they come from countries that have more of a culture of football than Canada.
What have they done? Fuck all!
I think the various associations are probably run by British 70 year olds who came here when Mick’s style of play was in vogue and still want to use the same outdated ideas. “Why don’t we try this”? “Well, that’s not how we did it when I left England after the war and so it’s not cricket”.
So yeah, it ain’t pretty but, blame the immigrants!
Loff mi bolox off

Cardiff have blown it
Fulham is a better away day Anyway
I want Fulham promoted in second place and Cardiff to lose on penalties in the playoff final. Not too much to ask for? Playoff winner? Derby or Sheff U.
I know a little about Scottish football
If you own a pair of football boots you will play for the national team.
Can our current crop emulate this group of hero’s from 1954?
It would be nice.
And to think that if the Dudley lad Duncan Edwards had signed for us back then, he would have made us even greater.
And lived a damn sight longer.
I’ve seen more reports about Neves going, this time Milan is interested, according to the rumours.
It got me thinking.
Does Neves have any voice in what happens? He likes it at Wolves. Presumably his wife or girlfriend likes it here, having a lot of Portuguese women around to be friends with, etc. They do have lives outside of the game.
How critical is Neves to our team? Can he be replaced with someone else fairly easily?
If they brought in someone equivalent would we be OK or do we want Neves to stay at all costs?
He is now one of the more talked about young players in England now and gives us “Street cred”. If he leaves, people will just say “I told you so”.
If player churn happens but we keep improving overall, are we OK with that or do we want some longer term players to be our kids’ heros?
What would Jeff Shi think about this? Would the relationship between Mendes and Wolves break down if Neves moved this summer? Is Jeff as knowledgeable about football as he says or is he just going to follow what Mendes says?
I want Fulham promoted in second place and Cardiff to lose on penalties in the playoff final. Not too much to ask for? Playoff winner? Derby or Sheff U.
