Well – that’s it then.
It’s all over for another year.
Another Bloggers’ Ball has come and gone.
Clive has disappeared back across the water from whence he came and the rest of us are kicking over the ashes of a season that promised so much but in the end delivered what most of us, if we’re being honest, expected.
But over the course of the year the pride in our team, which we rediscovered last season after two years of humiliation, blossomed in our breasts.
And the growing affection which we feel for Kenny Jackett warmed our cockles.
Well, it certainly did for me and the PMDG’er!
A play off place was so tantalisingly close. How many of us over the last few weeks of the season said that it could well come down to goal difference?
Who are you going to blame?
The players, who probably all made mistakes at one time or another which cost us points?
The Head Coach, who perhaps got his selection wrong on a couple of occasions?
The owner and CEO who had the chance to strengthen the squad when we were top of the league, but didn’t?
When all is said and done, the finger of blame can’t really be pointed in any one direction.
Best to recognise it as a brave collective effort that fell just short.
The one thing which has remained constant for me in this season of ultimate disappointment is the blog – which never disappoints.
Most of you have already done it but I’d like to add my thanks to Thomas and Ben for all their work on the blog and Ben for his time spent trying to get the truth out of our esteemed CEO at the Fans’ Parliament.
I expect you will all be delighted to know that I’ve put together another epic movie that I shot mostly on location (at the Park View Hotel) and mostly under the influence (of a variety of liquids) which attempts to encapsulate the weekend spent with Clive, and the latest Bloggers’ Ball.
Getting together with some of you lot has been a real pleasure for me. It’s great to be able to meet a fellow contributor in person and tell him to his face what a load of old cobblers he spouts on the blog.
Also, a mention to Mr & Mrs Twixfix who couldn’t make it this year because of long standing holiday arrangements.
Seriously guys! Get your priorities right!!
You’re lucky I slipped in couple of seconds of you at a previous meet just so you don’t feel too left out.
Some of us travel a fair old way for our gathering – I’m not going to list everyone, you know who you are – but a special mention has to go to Clive and Clemens for going way above and beyond the call of duty.
And on Saturday one of our number made a solo journey from Oxford, by train… in an electric wheelchair!
Big respect to Jerryd!
I apologise profusely to any of you who attended either the pre match or post match gathering and don’t appear on this masterpiece of moviemaking.
I’ve only had the camera about four years and I still can’t quite get to grips with the on/off switch.
Sorry about that.
Plus, when I’m filming I’m not chatting.
And I like a chat.
Otherwise, I hope you’ll find it’s a diverting little piece.
One more thing. Some people might have got the impression that these Bloggers’ get togethers are only for an elite few.
Elite?!
Have you seen some of the characters on this film?
Next time we want more.
I’d like to think that we might arrange something for the first home match of the season, so mark it down in your Official Wolves Yearbook. Available at all reputable Wolves Megastores.
Meanwhile, I’ll try to master the camera so we can get all the faces in the frame.
Until then – Have good Summers all – and happy Blogging!

Really very well put together Mark..they say that the camara never lies but Wolverhampton air does make me look one fat bastard…
Fatter than even Clive..
Thx for pointing that out..
But seriously well done for your efforts ..hopefully next time it will be a celebration into the PL..
COYB
I nicknamed the PMDG’er ‘The Camera’ because she can be an unforgiving mistress.
They say that appearing on TV always puts half a stone on you.
Staying at The Park View usually does that for me!
What a very touching post and video Mr DG – thank you.
How have you managed to keep that ‘Black Country Twang’, Clive, ‘mongst all that Texas drawl ?
I only see us play Fulham, so it’s once a year for me as well.
This blog is the closest I get to the games.
Nevertheless, everyone who posts seems to recreate, for us absentees, the atmosphere of the match.
Hopefully, I shall follow StuWolf’s suggestion and join everyone next year, when hopefully, we will be watching the final game in the Championship and celebrating our leap into the Premiership.
Once more thanks for the post, blog et al and may everyone, have a great summer.
Brilliant mate, absolutely brilliant. And Steve, do not worry, as I am by far the fattest there mate.
Looking forward to August already.
Only the second time I’ve ever posted. The last time was just after relegation to Lge 1 when I suggested we looked to Swansea’s rise from the dead for inspiration – hope I was right and we continue to progress. After all Kenny Jacket started the Swansea story.
On another subject am I the only one who hates “Hiho Silver Lining”? My own preference would be for Dion’s “The Wanderer”, named Rolling Stone’s 239th best record of all time. Great tempo and an appropriate title.
Many thanks to all posters for their insights, banter and laughter. Always the first place I look for match reports and opinions, nearly always insightful and good humoured. Would love to meet you all come August. UTW
I agree Cotswold, great song, great artist, very appropriate.
Interesting chap Dion Di Mucci, ever heard ‘Sanctuary’, or ‘Attraction works better than Promotion?’
Sanctuary is on utube.
It should be Wolves’s Robert Plant, though, not sure ‘Stairway to Heaven’ is adaptable.
You have possibly started a good debate here Cotswold.
I wouldn’t say I hate Hi Ho SL… however I agree that it’s not the best fitting song, where “Wolverhampton” feels like it has just been wedged in like a retrofit I’d do as bad DIY bodge.
Maybe a review of the match-day songs review is long overdue.
I’d still like to have our board member and god of rock do something. Just as Sir Edward Elgar composed the 1st ever terraces song for our lads in gold and black. (Although that one was not really the best song ever- Google it! or use other fine web search engines). At least he tried and got the ball rolling… maybe RP could have a look at Sir EE’s composure and make a few (or a lot) of amendments.
Now who agrees or disagrees with our Cotswold poster? I’m firmly in his camp on this one.
It’s the liquidator and wonder of you for me all day long .
Remember when they were trying to get us to learn that stupid song .. His embarrassing .
Brilliant little video by the way , loved it . Clive s F o west brom ending made me laugh out loud on my train
A star is born!!
No, not me…..I already are one…..but DOOGooder.
Once again, a fabulous production, capturing the Ball perfectly.
If an alien landed and this was the first thing he saw, he would immediately recognize the camaraderie, love and passion we have as Wolves fans.
I sometimes get quizzed about how long I’ve been a Wolves fan, and how long I have known others, and when I tell them over 50 years, they are totally gobsmacked.
Americans mostly have trouble paying attention for 50 minutes, let alone 50 years!
That fine gold and black thread, which weaves its way through our lives can never be broken or replaced and I for one am grateful and humble to be part of The Wolves family.
Thanks, Mark and Sue, for a wonderful summation of the season, thanks again Ben and Thomas, without whom we would not have made so many new friends, and biggest thanks to Wolves fans worldwide for the constant, continuing support.
And thanks (I suppose) to w.b., greasel and builderbob for giving us an outlet for our disdain!!
FOwb
Mark,
Absolutely wonderful job again and a great choice of song, it flows like velvet through the video. A great way to round off another good year at the PV hotel celebrating a real good effort and genuine attempt at the PL.
Fell short but hey ho what’s a point between friends, the blessing is that the two that pipped us didn’t get there either. (Not sour grapes, just don’t rate Brentwoodfordshire or Ipshire)
Ben & Thomas, thank you both, fellow bloggers near and far, you make my week constantly, there’s nowt better than Molineux Banter.
Special moments captured for when I’m sitting in my nursing home with my catheter bag leaking down my sock making me smile in the face of incontinence.
You bloogers who travelled locally we thank you, Clive, Clemens and Jerryd what a bunch of hero’s one and all.
Guilty or innocent my thoughts go out to Aaron McCarey, there but for the grace of God, it could be any of us.
Sorry guys, I love belting out Hi Ho Silver lining.
But, I would warm to the Eagles, “New Kid in town” if we got to the PL come the end of next season.
Happy days, 🙂
I guess Desperado would have been appropriate during Dean Saunders’ time!
Your contributions, Stuwolf, always appreciated, by one and all.
Gotta disagree about Hi Ho Silver Lining.
I remember that balmy day in May 2003.
I was not in Cardiff, I was 4000 miles away in Miami Airport, but my heart and soul were in South Wales.
Sheffield United had their “song” played, and their fan duly sung along, and it was so wimpish, so blah, it could have been an Abba or Osmonds b tune.
Then, 5 million black country voices roaring out Hi Ho Wolverampton.( there is no H )
Aggressive, in your face, defiant, daring a reaction.
Just like our logo, and more recently, “Wolves Ay We”
You cannot say Wolves Ay We in a polite, refined tone.
Its in your face, demanding a response , a circling of the wagons mentality, all for one, one for all, and bollocks to the rest of you, coz “Wolves Ay We”
Progress is good, but some things need to be left alone, and our song is one of them.
And The Liquidator should never have been banned!!
You’ve all got it in your head now, so I’ll finish it for you….Fuck Off W…B…!!
I agree that the Liquidiser (as the PMDG’er calls it) should never have been banned.
I also agree that Hi Ho Silver Lining, when shouted by a packed Molineux, makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
One thing I’ve never understood is why we don’t get the version by Slade.
It’s much better, in my humble opinion, than the Jeff Beck rendering and Noddy Holder is a Wolves fan.
Please reboot your spellcheck.
Its Noddy Older!!
Wolves Hay We !!
Now look what you have done Cotswold.. 🙂 . You have divided opinion… However I quite like DOOGooders idea as a compromise and it would be very fitting to have it re-made with Noddy bellowing out WolverAMPTON. (If only)
Me muvver in law is from Bucklebury (Kate Middletons village) near Woolhampton, she has galloping Dementia and so when she asks me where she is (for the feckin 10,000th time, I say, ” youm in Woolampton” ) technically not lying to her then Clive, I feel so much better now.
🙂
What a great video that conveyed the love of ordinary blokes for all things gold and black. Well done to all involved.
For all those who don’t know it, it just so happens that there’s a video of the Slade Hi Ho Silver Lining over a clip from Zulu.
How great is that?
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x12hcj_zulu-hi-ho-silver-lining-slade_music
I swear I saw Corporal Jones there.
“Them fuzzy wuzzies don’t like it up ’em, Captin Mannrin”
Prefer the Jeff Beck version.
Thank you for the video clip DOOGooder! It was a very vivid account of the fun you must have all had. Surprised you were all still vertical by the end of it!
I’m going to have to find a way to join you all next year. 🙂

The Big subject at our bloggers meet….Sako..it’s all quiet on that one currently but who is this £3M striker from Cardiff that we are chasing..?
Is he up to a Sako standard? Unless he’s another Afobe and we play down the middle as in a 433..
Quite the Franco Zeffirelli Doog:) Excellent snapshot of the special bond that brings us bloggers (and all Wolves fans) together. A bond that sustains us through dark days, rewards us in good times and unites us in our devotion to our beloved club. Well done mate!
Just one minor complaint; – somehow, during the editing no doubt, you’ve managed to lose my hair whilst simultaneously making FCFH (Fat Clive From Houston) look slimmer than he really is!!!
Oh, and the hangover went yesterday…………..
Never again, til the next time:))
Fantastic piece of work DOOG (and Mrs PMDGR).. you’re a talented couple. In your write up you say it’s a collection of what ifs as the reason for narrowly missing out on promotion … I tend to exclude most matters directly related to the playing aspect. For me (and it’s my opinion..) the failure lies with NOT strengthening the team when the opportunity was there. Football is big business and to be so close only endorses that we need 2 – 3 QUALITY signings.
Sorry we weren’t there, it’s an occasion we’d love to attend but the call of seeing our family and grandkids in NZ was too great, especially Poppy who was having a 5th bdp and going to school for the first time.
I particularly loved the video and all the guys on there. .. as usual Clive was unsuppressable and I did notice Sue at a table piled high with wine glasses!
A massive, massive respect to Jerryd .. , Jerryd if I can be of any support to you (tickets etc) just let me know. .. we’re a blog family mate.. here to help.
Can’t wait to see you all soon .. xx
See you in The Park View First home match of the season!
We’ll be up for a bit of that ….
I’ve just been browsing the Wolves News feeds and nearly fell off my Derek Dougan autographed commode.
Bakary Sako’s agents are demanding £80K per week on a four year contract for his services….
What the f***?
Has he gone raving mad?
They’ll be saying that Danny Batth is going to Sunderland next!
Spotted that this morning in the BHam mail and had to jump ship onto their blog to give my two penny worth.
He’s not worth the £25,000 a week the Wolves were paying him, if a Nurse is only worth £40,000 a YEAR then he’s taking the piss. Talk about biting the feckin hand that feeds you. I bet he got about £250 a year in Mali the greedy tyke.
If, it’s true, then let’s see the back of him sooner rather than later, if he’s worth that then I’m a RVLP.
Bah Humbug to the prat.
🙁
The really crazy thing is some idiot out there will pay him that kind of money, inflate his already overinflated ego, and have him getting arse splinters from sitting on the bench.
I agree, Stupony, let him hang around all summer waiting for the idiot to show up, hope he doesn’t, and watch him come crawling back begging to be signed……for 10 grand a week…..and then tell him to fuck off.
If we aint good enough for him on May 3rd, then he aint good enough for us come August whatever.
No one is bigger than the club.
Clive, You da mannnn.
Come the revolution bruvvers.
Read this AM that Danny Graham (couldn’t hit a barn door at 3 feckin feet Danny, ) has donated £2000 to a junior footballer for a career saving operation.
He couldn’t score in a house of ill repute but. Danny Graham youv’e got my respect mate.
Top Man….
That’s how you pay people back for your good fortune Sako… Take feckin note.
🙂
As someone who can only get to matches a few times a season I have been reluctant to voice my opinion on Bakary Sako especially as the clear view of most who attend home and away is that he is a great part of Wolves. However my limited time at games has been that I have seen a player with whose belief in his ability is greater than what he actually delivers. OK great moments – but too much elaboration leading to lost possession far too often, over ambitious passes that give the ball away and poor tackling ability.
Given this total self belief which exceeds his actual ability no surprise that he values himself at £80k a week. But no way will managers of the style and perception of, say, Pulis and Sherwood see him more than an impact player coming off the bench. So dream on Bakary and stay where you are loved. You might have to.
Wonderful Doog. Well done! A very touching tribute to the season, not to mention our final get-together, which seemed to encapsulate the mood perfectly!
I was smiling at the montage at certain points, when cleverly edited alongside the visuals…Cheeky! Bravo Doog
Thanks Ben, I appreciate your appreciation.
As far as the montage is concerned, you may say it was edited and cheeky…
I could not possibly comment.
Great video Doog, or as I named yoi last year, Ridley Scott. It was great to mert everyone at the PV. CLIVE’s cameo at the end of the video says it all for me, what a nice guy he is.
Songs: high-Ho is OK but the Liquidator must come back, for pure nostalgia. Can’t we have both?
Sako: don’t be too hard on him, he has to be free to earn what he can, while he can, one injury and all that. He has shown loyalty to Wolves. He may get 80K ar a prem cliub and sit on the bench most weeks.
Why we missed out: we didn’t have the belief and mental strength. We need to go for it and take more risks.
To all who have wished me well, thanks. My disabilty is no big deal, normal for me at any rate. I have always had to use a wheelchair. However, your friendship and fellowship is msgic.
Like Arnie once said, I’ll be back (unlike Sako?) in August. Cheers everyone.
Cheers Jerryd.
It was a pleasure meeting you mate.
As far as Sako is concerned, he’s obviously going to go after the best deal he can get, and good luck to him.
I think that his agent has set the bar a tad too high though. He must have been taking some non performance enhancing substances.
It’s the sort of wage that a top six club can afford to pay, but I don’t think a top six club would look at him.
I might be in a minority but I would be happy to have him at the Molineux for another year on his existing wage – but £80K a week?…
As for Clive, I have this theory that he never moves out of Houston.
He has a (much nicer and thinner) brother living in Whitmore Reans who comes to the Bloggers’ meetings.
How else would you explain the Wolverhampton accent, pleasant conversation and lack of expletives?
Brothers eh, I did wonder how this unassuuming, mild-mannered guy could write such rabid, gung-ho, shoot from the hip posts. The guy at the PV would seem more at home on a “Zen and the art of diplomacy blog”. Appearances can be deceptive.
Jerryd
AnotherTop Man.
Play it down all you like, your’e a star mate, travelling by British Trains is bad enough, you do it in an electric Wheelchair, it’s bad enough when your’e able bodied.
Great to meet you at long last.
🙂
I second, third and fourth that, Stupony.
If we ever have a WoIves Blogger of the Year award, my nomination goes to Jerryd, without question.
If any of you out there are wondering about Stu’s charity bike ride to help our handicapped supporters, just take a look at this guy.
We may bitch and moan about all sorts of petty stuff, but Jerryd attends games week in week out without complaint, by wheelchair, on his own, from Oxford.
Jerryd, I take my hat off to you.
Morgan, greasel and anyone else NOT concerned about improving the lot of our wonderful fans who are not as lucky as us, hang your heads in shame.
I second that mate … it’s a 100% yes from me … (Bollox to Simon Cowell … oh and pulis)
Yes mate
FO PULIS
Just seen this.
A lifelong Manchester United fan has taken his three sons, one of whom is disabled, to watch Stockport County after being told that it was not possible for his family to be seated together at Old Trafford.
Martin Emery believes that the access at United for wheelchair users is discriminatory and was furious to receive an email from the club’s disability liaison officer that said: “There are some clubs that would welcome you with open arms and possibly ask you to bring as many family members as possible, the downside is it wouldn’t be at Old Trafford, most probably Rochdale, Oldham or Stockport.”
It seems our beloved club is trying to become affiliated with Manure.
More grease to your elbow, Stupony!
There’s a new Equal playing field initiative from the EU that’s going to make the feckers tow the line better than tney have to date. Paying lip service to the rules and regulations won’t cut it in the future. But, we’re all grown ups here, we know they will skirt round the rules flaunt the regs and dig their heels in.
But, we shall get there in the end.
For them it’s business, it’s got nothing to do with people, especially the most vulnerable ones.
🙁
A couple of points I d like to make while I’m finishing this gin !
Fair point on mental strength ( jerryd), I think that explains November .. Good point well made !
Sako s agents have done wolves a favour .. One min we re all ” omg what are we boing go do ? Sako s irreplaceable .. Let’s pay him to stay !
Now it’s ” how much … Na ! See ya . So thanks for the reality check .
Finally was if the only one that did nt know that Albion are up for sale and PULIS is only there to keep them up for the sale price and he ll probably be off when the new owners bring their own in.
And who agrees that old fibreglass pinging the ball against Brunts head was one of the most skilful set pieces I have ever seen .

So, Jez Moxey says that Benike Afobe must work harder. I guess he is putting a portfolio together for when he sells him at a profit.
http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2015/05/20/jez-moxey-benik-afobe-must-work-harder/
knobhead – what does he know. Stick to counting cash you twat!!!
My sediments exactly Bromide Wolf, not exactly the best example of a fitness Guru is he?
🙂
Can you email your planned itinery for your bike ride when confirmed. I realise that it will be subject to change in relation to dates/times, but an estimate will be good.
Will do Bromide.
Subject to change indeed with the British weather, but we can live in hope. At least it should be warm snow and rain.
🙂
Fancy a cap to keep the sun, snow and rain off?
Steve,
Iv’e never worn a hat in my life, it’s killing me to wear the bike helmet.
Thanks for the offer, but I have to decline.
🙂
You need to protect your two remaining hairs.
Look what happened to Peakwolf, Scooped etc.
Thanks for not including me in your list … oh great one …
Nor me, thanks also.
Since when as Greasel been an expert on giving advice about ‘Working Harder’ … He knows jack Sh1t about the ethos of working harder … he should keep his big fat trap shut otherwise Afobe might just say ‘Up Yours O fat one’ …..
You took the words right out of my mouth mate.
If there’s any advising or coaching to be done, I’m sure the Head Coach is quite capable of saying what needs to be said behind closed doors.
Moxey’s comments could well have just made the circling sharks scent blood.
I hope that Afobe has more sense than a certain Mr Sterling, but bruised egos, agents and large sums of money can be a pretty toxic mix.
How long is he under contract for???
Three years left from July 2015 ….. I hope this doesn’t backfire on Motormouth Moxey !!
I will try and get one done for the “Gentleman” that appears once a year too.
If there ever was a scenario worse than loosing Sako to a wage paying club..then it’s the potential of loosing
Afobe because he pissed off..
What a Ratner moment by Moxey just when we need to keep the family silver..
He’s got to be the bet of the new season to be the leagues top scorer..
and incidenly he plays for US…
KJ must of had a heart attack…
From reading all the comments of how nice Clive was at the bloggers meet, I have to say that I’m so glad I missed it.
I could not imagine coming back to read Clive’s posts and having a memory of him not befitting his eloquent ravages.
It’s like meeting your idol and then walking away despondent… So I hope I never meet you Clive 🙂
Thank you, I think.
You know I’m kidding of course… I can’t wait to be as disappointed as everyone else… Hold me to it that I’ll meet you next time you’re over!
The drinks are on you, at least the first four rounds!!
You’re drinking tap water you say? I can stretch to that…! 🙂
W ith the likely departure of Bak Sak, there has been quite some
E xpectation about who is going to come in to replace him.
A mongst the named players such as Nadir Ciftci, Abdoul Camara, Joe
M ason, etc, a player called Jed Wallace from Pompey appears to be incoming.
W hat do you guys think of him? A 21 year old attacking midfielder who Kenny
O penly admits to having looked at for some time. He seems to be okay when I
L ooked him up on the net. Apart from that I must admit to not having heard
V ery much of him. My opinion though is if Kenny feels he is good to go and we
E ventually do manage to get his signature then I am on side. Our first Summer
S igning. Hopefully we can strengthen enough to secure a successful season.
Just confirming your sterling work buddy.
🙂
Just read this on the Portsmouth newspaper blog, they’re saying 21 year old Midfielder Jed Wallace has signed for an undisclosed fee today.
Let’s hope this is true, Kenny’s been chasing him as much as Afobe, and look what he’s done ( but needs to work harder)
🙂
Come on Kenny
http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-s-jed-wallace-on-way-to-wolves-1-6757060
We have a replacement for Baath. His name is Dominic Iorfa. He will be a sensation at centreback.
Nothing on the Official Wolves site yet but the E&S said it’s been confirmed by Wolves, (so it must be true, they wouldn’t lie would they)
1 down, Replacement for Danny Batth and the one for Sako then we’re cookin.
Happy Days
🙂
It’s on the Wolves website so it’s done and dusted.
Onwards & Upwards.
You want to replace DB Stu?
No, not replace him, find cover for him, IMO he was off the game last season and he was the weak link. Iorfa and Hause can replace him but what if we have another November. We need depth in all positions, although Kenny said he had it last year, losing Golbourne and Dicko cost us automatic promotion, never mind a scrap in the play offs.
🙂
I struggle with assessing our half backs Stu…if we add another GOOD defender then do we play five along the back goldbourne steers DB another and Iorfa or put in house in the centre back position ..
My maths says 2 are at risk and I want EBL to go walkies as he heads the ball straight back to them as the oppositions twelfth player lol
So.. even Steers is at risk and so is DB who I think showed being out of depth many times..
The upshot is we need a Majestic experienced centre half and build round him as we all know we can score the goals but clean sheets and conceding 1s against will get us auto promotion…
DB looks to me definitely at risk..,
I’m wearing my Kenny Jackett hat on this. Last season (league1) we romped home smashing records and he decimated the team by the third or forth game, we all went “WTF”, but he went about business in his own sweet way and took us to a gnats whisker from tne PL.
I fully expect the same this year, on the terraces both you and I were worried at a few players performances and the fans voiced their opinion in no uncertain terms, as a result I think he will turn the team over again.
DB is being linked with Sunderland and now they are safe, Moxey would take their arm off at the elbow if a good offer came in. Look what loyalty we showed Ricketts as Captain, from all accounts Jed Wallace is a bit of a steal it wouldn’t surprise me if they made him Captain .
We all asked for early business, well I’m amazed at how fast we went in and got a Kenny target, I think it will be watch this space.
Getting rid of Foley, aricketts Roger the dodger and Doyle and buying Wallace for £275,000 isfeckin amazing business. Being Scottish this appeals to me.
Happy Days ahead.
🙂
I don’t believe he will be made Captain. It appears that our Kenny likes to have a Captain playing at the back.
No disrespect meant Steve, that didn’t work last year in this league, time to try something different IMO.
🙂
I agree mate, but it is not our decision.
What impresses me is we signed this bloke almost before the dust has settled on the old season.
A few more quick signings, and when the team report for pre season, they will have the maximum time to gel and be tested.
greasel must be on holiday.
Just been watching his goals… Got a few from the penalty spot, so it’s possible he could take over where Sako left off for that.
Most of his othe goals where nice long range ones, but I also noted his positioning on 1 goal where he was leading the front line like a an out and out striker. He may be quite versatile by all accounts!
I think we’ll see another striker come in, solely due to the amount we let go and maybe look to promote a striker from the U21’s as cover.
I think he’ll skip getting a defender, as the lads that have forced their way into the team have impressed, leaving a couple of decent defenders sitting it out.
Rowe did not quite impress as was expected, However that “may” have been due to him carrying the injury. Let’s see what preseason he has, but I don’t hold out too much hope! (Prove me wrong Rowe). I’m not even going to get started with Saville!
I’d like to see 2 strikers for competition and backup for injury, another midfielder and a winger (as Boukari is yet to show if he can do it).
VLP has got his 1st season out of the way, hopefully he has learned something and will train on which way he should face to find the goal on a few more occasions.
Jed Wallace looks like a cracking signing. Fingers crossed. I do think we need backup defenders – DB was looking tired in the odd game I caught at the end of the season as were others in the back four. In particular the game at St Andrews when they lost focus/energy to allow a least 2 of B’ham’s goals.
Still looks like senior management have a transfer strategy in place which will be an improvement on other transfer windows. Looking forward to next season already. UTW
I think the recruitment strategy will work more effectively this season than last.
The reason I say that, is that players would have been wary going to a club that had just come up from the3rd tier, irrespective of of who we are. A lot of players and their agents would have been advising against.
This season has been a decent first one back with a fair points haul. Players and their agents will be a lot more willing with half an expectation that Wolves can push on and earn both parties a few more pennies by getting them up.
If we had have gone up this season, I don’t think Jed would have been the signing KJ would have been aiming for, however a year under his belt in this division may be enough to push on and give him the springboard to do it at a higher level (just like the experience Afobe is getting).
A few have said that they would have wanted to consolidate in this division first…. We did that and next season could be a record breaking season if we can improve on the squad, as KJ is always looking to do.
I do agree with you both that a decent seasoned defender is needed. I just think KJ and Thelwell may be putting their faith in the kids that have done so well. That see them in training and they’ll know what is required.
Welcome to Molineux Jed Wallace. Looks like a bit of a Dave Edwards type player from what I’ve seen, quick to get up with the strikers and able to find the net, but can also pick a pass from midfield.
Pompey fans seemed resigned to losing their star man and it says something for the new attitude within the moneymen at our club that we were able to beat off several other clubs vying for his signature. Unlike last season. 🙂
I see that the Blog is warming up with a bit of player action…and I feel a bit of latent excitement going on particularly as we have a quick start on the transfer season ..
Is K J mercenary as Stu is suggesting to turn over the team again ? all a bit unsettling for a few players who are either on the beach or have booked it..
Know doubt we shall see if a defender and a winger materialises
and if they do..fair play to KJs intent.
On a side note the playoffs will be interesting with us all thinking we should be there..well I do….
Norwich 2-Boro 2 penalties..my prediction…
Norwich 3 Boro 2 for me. I am hoping as Boro are only 30 minutes from me so it will be another easier away match to go to.
I also predict we will not be in the Play Offs next season either. Will be crowned Champions.
You heard it here first. I am going home now (yes I am at work lol) so have a great weekend mate. See you sometime next season.
Well, if we are starting a silly prediction thingy for other teams, I reckon 5 – 1 will do it.
To whom I give not a shit!!
WBA 5 Arsenal 1 I bet you give a fe@# now.
🙂
Going off the subect a little. Was in Budapest last weekend for me mates birthday bash. Went to see Honved play on saturday evening because of wolves close historical ties from the 50’s. Outside the ground is a bust of the great Ferenc Puskas. He was guest of honour when the new Molineux was opened in 1993. Quite a humbling experience. Pity Honved are poor these days. But there you go. True great clubs with a shared experience from yesteryear.
I heard (via a Pompey fan) that Wallace decided on us as we are the biggest club..and a PL favourite to go up this season….
But also…’Wolves are rebuilding with a young team’
Another piece of good news from the Molineux.
I saw that the match ball from Billy Wright’s 100th England International was up for auction.
“That belongs in the Wolves Museum”. Says I.
And that’s just where it’s going.
Wolves Bloggers on tour, have’nt got the postcard but we’ve got the now famous Bloggers T-Shirts and Polo’s.
Proudly worn by my 65 year old “Jen De Wolf” at the Top of Snowden today, she walked all the way up and back down again.
Made of stern stuff us bloggers, let’s see how many places we can get them shown in around the world.
🙂
Brilliant idea. This will replace the postcard which theDOOGooder lost!!
Incoming ………………
We can plan on Boro v Wolves after Black Forest Cherry Cake when the fixtures come out Stu. You will then be able to meet my lady.
Sounds like a plan to me. Roll on the start of the promotion season.
🙂
Strong winds today. 🙂
Sidewards pictures??
Fixtures out on 17 June I believe. Just 3 an half wiks away. Start planning some trips! Including the ever wonderful Small Heath Experience…
89 comments in….I’m a bit late getting to this one! Great memento DG, but it took Mrs PW to note that Clive thanked me for buying him a drink! I thought he thanked “people”, not realising that so few people buy him drinks! And as for his later comment about my hairstyle, I’ll have you all know that I have 51 hairs on my head, but they only show when Clive’s regular prediction is correct.
Hi Ho? I too think it’s a great war-cry at kick off, though a bit naff when re-played after half time. Much as I like tradition, it’s better than some trad offerings like that fox hunting bollox that accompanies the teams’ entry at the Kung Po stadium.
Wallace – pleased to see that he’s regarded as a good addition – I feared he might be seen as another lower league midfielder and cheap at that, but everyone’s comments suggest that, value-wise, he’s potentially another KMac. Boukari – I think absence might be making the heart grow fonder, but hope he might be like a new signing. Afobe – thanks, Moxey for brilliant tactical insights. Looking forward to seeing him ‘work both sides of the ball’. Someone should work both sides of Moxey’s balls. With pliers. Fibreglass – did you note the ref who gave him the red card? Our friend Mr Jones….Fibreglass hit the wrong man!
Wolves U 15’s win their tournament in Germany.
Wolves U 19’s through to the Semi finals tomorrow in Germany.
Afobe picked for England U 21’s.
Iorfa & Hause picked for England U20’s.
Afobe Joint top scorer in all 4 leagues with Augera.
Not too shabby for a failed season eh?
🙂
But Afobe still not up to greasel’s standards???
In life there has to be a negative to every positive, he’s (greasel) ours.
🙂
I have heard people say that the money spent on the academy was money wasted.
The shit have released mulumbu would anyone take him. I’d have to say I would be glad to see him.
Wolves U 19’s through to the final 2-0 ,
Conor Ronan got both goals from assistes byJordan Graham.
Final at 4pm today.
Two players we were told to watch put for, happy Days Wolves.
COMB’s
🙂
Wolves U 19’s win Tournament Final 5-4 on Penalties.
Jordan Graham voted player of the Tournament by all the international coaches.
Conor Ronan voted 2nd.
What an end to the season.
Well done Wolves Academy.
🙂
Stu,
Interesting reading. Some different perceptions too. My personal view is, if I was a disabled fan and was intending to attend a match I would make contact with the club in the first instance to confirm the disabled parking situation.
http://www.expressandstar.com/news/local-news/2015/05/23/disabled-wolves-fan-vows-to-boycott-club-in-car-parking-row/
Yeah, great story and couldn’t be better timed. The DSA have a running battle about parking, on quiet matches when there’s loads of spaces they won’t contact the disabled guys and offer them the spaces. Iv’e a strong feeling this is overspill from that gripe. Having to get from the other car parks at their disposale (which they pay for) is a nightmare in those wheel chairs, so asimple system in place could see some more DSA guys offered spaces closer to the ground now and again. A Brucie bonus now and again.
But it’s a complex problem that Wolves are trying to sort out but I fear it may run and run, a bit like MacDonald.
🙂
So, let me get this right.
They have disabled parking spaces right near the ground, but they are not available on match days.
Forgive my iggorance, but when else would disabled fans want to use them?
Surely those spaces reserved for the bigwigs of the club, which are almost on the pitch (! ) would be better for a firetruck in the unlikely event of a fire emergency?
And would it not help those aforementioned bigwigs, naming no names, but you know who I mean, you fat slimy greaseball, loose some weight by having to walk a few paces, like the “common” supporters?
Or have the away team’s bus moved during the duration of it’s stay, although they need to be close by at the end of games, since all the away team will want to hot tail it away from The Golden Palace after getting royally spanked by our heros!!!
I see you have changed your name yet again, Vimtobromidal.
FOwb
Yeah, handle now back to it’s proper title. Got fed up of losing an “n” and turning into a purple drink, or a willy shrinker.
Willie Shrinker.
THAT is an excellent handle!!
We beat Norwich and gave it away at there’s ..impressive bus parking by them in the second half..
I wonder if we could of done the same..we are rock on with midfield and attack but what about our defence ?
Need a class Stopper to help shut up shop for Auto..
Is that a class stopper or a glass stopper?
If the latter I know a few who could play a corker!!!
Been on the local craft ale, sorry!
Very good fence man…we can’t have a 5-1 result if we give stuff away at the back…that’s the only thing that will Fck up our results (and points)..
Afobe and Dicko will put in a few corkers per se..
Cheers.. FOWB
I see our Thomas has got a mention. Hopefully Bak Sak will read this too and listen.

And our Stu too.

Who is that bloke in the middle?
Looks a lot like Stupony, but much slimmer.
Its amazing what can be done with photoshop!!!
It’s the lycra, it pulls bits in and makes others look more prominent.
They both look about 36b Stu…
When you say “others” look more prominent… I presume you meant those around you? 🙂
Links in well with my screenshot of the day as you have the Mac there with you too….
Well played E&S in the well placed advertising. The Headline is also quite fitting, so hopefully we’ll be going large this coming season!
…. and then the E&S make a bit of a hash of it in the next story….
Surely once you are the 1st, you’ll always be the 1st? errrrr.
For those that ask why I still read the E&S online… I only do it looking for inspiration. 🙂
