The Championship is ridiculous.
Although I wasn’t surprised or bothered about Walter Zenga being ejected, it’s amazing how quickly things unravel in this division.
To think just five games previous we were a point outside the play-offs with a game to come against the league’s bottom side and everything looking rosy.
And even within those five matches, it’s not a stretch to say we could easily have avoided defeat at Wigan and won at Villa park, which would still have seen us within one victory of the top six.
But I think the consensus in football, rightly or wrongly, is ‘nearly isn’t good enough’. And Wolves have been nearly for too much of this season.
Blackburn
Rovers looked dead and buried after the first five games or so, but credit to Owen Coyle for showing signs of turning it around.
I think he’s recruited well, particularly up front. Bringing in Marvin Emnes, Danny Graham and young Southampton forward Sam Gallagher has given them an edge. The three have 10 goals between them already.
Conway and Marshall are two very strong Championship midfielders too, so the supply line is there for those forwards to thrive.
Survival is a good achievement for them as they’re going nowhere fast under the current ownership. In my darkest moments, it’s the direction I fear we could be heading.
Their fans are planning to arrive 18 minutes into the game and leave after 75 minutes in protest against Venky’s on Saturday, which promises to create a strange environment.
Wolves
So what will Rob Edwards do? It’s always very interesting to see how a coach responds when given the opportunity to step up.

He’s been in and around the team all season so will no doubt have his own thoughts about who should and shouldn’t be playing and a preferred system.
I look at this group of Wolves players and think it’s about finding that balance between work rate / physical power and technical ability.
Packing out the midfield with at least two grafters (in the above instance Edwards and Coady) and then trying to get the likes of Costa and Teixeira playing off Bodvarsson is how I would approach this game.
It will also be fascinating to see if Edwards brings anyone in from the cold like Price, Saville, John or Wallace, who’ve barely featured in recent weeks.
Rob Edwards
Predictions
Like Rob Edwards, I also think Blackburn are in a false position based on recent performances. This will be a very tough game.
My concern is they could prove a bit more streetwise than Wolves, depending on the team the caretaker sends out. And in a tight game, that’s often the difference.
But I’m hoping we get a few more per cent out of our better players going forward to ask questions ourselves.
I’ll go for a score draw – 2-2.
Up The Wolves!

It’s hard to see why we can win this one but in the world of finance there’s a phrase ‘dead cat bounce’ and I’m relying on ‘dead gaffer bounce’
Meantime a look at the short list for new gaffer continues to depress . If it’s not to be SAM then why not turn to someone who’s not a failed re tread? Surely Giggs can bring something to our party? He sat at the feet of the master for a very long time …
A good summary Thomas of our “nearly” men.
Personally I would have given Walter until Xmas to get things back on track (with a replacement lined up if they didn’t and the January window to bring in his own reinforcements).
Irrelevant now, as Walt is history and we need to ensure we get his successor right, otherwise we could be heading for a post Mick scenario, which doesn’t bear thinking about!
I have to admit that I am totally underwhelmed so far with all of the possible candidates to replace WZ.
Back to Saturday, I think it will be tough, but hope that the team put in a decent performance for Rob Edwards.
I’ll be more than happy with a draw with a Dave Edwards back post header and a Costa screamer to brighten up my afternoon.
COYW!
I’m going for 3 points again and the same scoreline as l have done a few times this season – might get it right someday. If we do put on a good performance and back it up against Derby it will be interesting to see where Rob stands in going forward.
I’m finding this managerial fascinating for some reason. It feels like we’re on the cusp of going one of two ways. Hopefully Rob Edwards can steady the ship for at least a couple of games, if not longer.
I think most things have been said about who we want as a new manager, but Edwards has a great chance to stake a claim if he can win the next two games. I hope he finds room for Jack Price in the team, I honestly cannot understand how he has been left out over the last few games. It is as if WZ had developed a KJ complex and just blanked a player for no reason.
No idea what the team will be at Blackburn, but ever hopefull I will go for a win and for once a correct score. My predictions have been shit this season.
Will the boys fire up for Rob? Lets face it we would have been in a much better position if we didn’t have a couple of blunders at the back, and a decent ref at Villa Park! We know these boys CAN play well. I hope they realise that their performance will influence the outcome of the managerial selection.(play well for the next couple of games – and Rob will be a shoe in). Let’s hope they will.
The more I hear from Rob Edwards and the more I think about the way he’s got the young lads playing, the more I think that maybe HE should be given until Christmas to turn the Wolves Notverysupertanker around.
I don’t think that Fosun will want to risk Sam Allardyce until any chance of him being further punished for his naughtiness has disappeared.
If Edwards gets us flying, which he has as much chance as any of the other candidates of doing, he deserves a chance of taking the job full time.
If he doesn’t, Sam the Man could be in a better position to take over.
One thing I would hate is for Big Sam to come in and show Edwards the door. He’s Wolves through and through and deserves a lot better.
As far as the weekend is concerned, who knows? Certainly not me.
But I’m going for a win because I’m a positive sort of guy (sometimes).
It is not only Big Sam that could show Edwards the door if he came in, so I suppose if Dave did not get the job full time, he will always be precariously perched.
Sad, but true.
As I said in a previous thread, I don’t give a stuff about the PL and said that I would do a Clive so …………………… 5-1 must be the scoreline.
I just hope we are playing at home when I get it right.
Apologies if this has already been posted
http://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/allardyce-turns-down-quick-return-to-dugout-with-wolves-0phtcsdws
Despite all the upheaval of this week I still think that we will win this one. I think that we have better players than Blackburn and Rob Edwards will bring some much needed organisation and balance to the team selection.
Blind optimism???? Probably – but I am sticking with my prediction
I wasn’t surprised about Zenga being ejected either Thomas, although I whole-heartedly welcomed his appointment originally. I assumed that Zenga would move to England and get stuck-in at his big chance with Wolves. And it was a big chance. Huge! This isn’t misery-guts Morgan and skinflint Moxey strangling ambition. It’s the main chance. Chinese billionaire wants to make us a world-class club! I’ll have some of that! I didn’t expect Zenga to try and wing it by commuting from Dubai and living out of a suitcase. That’s not commitment.
Yes, the Championship is ridiculous. A few wins and we could be right up there. Depending on who is appointed I think will be there.
Onto Blackburn. Good team, false position. Wolves, better team, false position. I think the lads will run their socks off for departed Walter and caretaker Rob. 2-1.
I hear he just moved out of the hotel the week before.
I hope is a case of hanging in there until Sam takes his seat ..my old chestnut was mentioned by Edwards recently regarding defending..
Sad in some ways that Zenga’s drive isn’t about tomorrow but the game is all about points to me – they are as rare as rocking horse s**t currently..
My thoughts are if it’s still possible this year and of course it is if we start a run..
2-1 for me ..it will be interesting how the players respond to keep the club up there by a thread..
The Portuguese guys have lost their 2nd favourite ally though…. so it’s Price and Coady for me (their best chance to have a big say)..
and Dicko and iceman playing together..
COYW
Going for a draw, bring price back in shore it up a bit
Hopefully graham.doesn’t score but he probably will
Up the wolves
Danny Graham’s out injured so that’s one banana skin avoided.
I think we’ll find out a lot about our team tomorrow.
I’m hoping that Rob has spent a lot of time watching Kenny and Zenger thinking how he’d do it differently.
He’d take Jeff Shi’s arm off at the elbow if he was offered the gig permanently, and if his enthusiasm and determination transfers to the players we could finally see the team firing on all cylinders.
I’m excited, but then again it’s a wolves game, on the telly so it’s always exciting!
Despite winning on each of our last 4 visits to the Chicken farm (2-1 twice and 1-0 twice) this time I think we will have to settle for a draw.
Mind you if Rob Edwards plays this team (which he won’t as it would mean excluding his Dad) in a 4231 system then I think we would win;
Ikeme
Silvio Iorfa Stearman Borthwick-Jackson
Saiss Oniangue
Costa Teixeira Cavaleiro
Bodvarsson
Subs: Lonergan, Hause, Doherty, Coady, Edwards, John, Dicko
p.s. I see the Blackburn fans are planning a protest against their owners the Venkys by arriving 18 minutes late and then leaving after 75 minutes (to mark their foundation in 1875 apparently). If they do and it works it will be interesting to say the least. Imagine playing the first 18 minutes and the final 15 minuts with just Wolves fans in the ground!
Would be interesting, but I can’t see them ALL leaving. I am going tomorrow are you coming up?
No not tomorrow, have to stay with Mrs BW at the moment as had latest treatment on Tuesday so a bit fragile.
Of course mate, I forgot. Look after her buddy.
I’m going to go for a massive win as I’d like to see Super Rob Edwards do well. I always liked him as a player.
I don’t think Edwards will be able to motivate the players any more than WZ could, so I think they will take their foot off the gas (and probably underestimate Blackburn). Blackburn have us for the taking. Seems to have shades of the Terry Connor debacle about giving Edwards a chance. Hope I’m wrong tho!
Given we’ve been struggling to score, keeping a clean sheet has been a vane hope all season, gifting goals has been more our forte, I’m still expecting the new coach bounce to a degree.
Tough game in a tough league, we need to start accumulating points regularly and preferably 3 at a time rather than 1, but in this instance after the past few weeks I’d take a point and a performance like the second half at Villa where we dominated were robbed by an official as spineless as any I have seen and some positives to build on and confidence returning. This wont define our season we’re not half way yet, and if we build a team out of the ashes we can still get promoted this season.
So as long as Sam Allardyce is in the stands as the future manager to be a 1-1 result would do us just fine.
Onwards and upwards
Win & a clean sheet please
It looks as though everything in the garden was not rosy with some falling out behind the scenes. Well what a chance to move on and tomorrow will see a Villa second half performance for 90 minutes.
Gone on boys
Easy victory.
Why do people see Big Sam like he is the Messiah?
He isn’t.
You are setting yourselves up to be disappointed.
Prince with a hat trick
Absolutely agree 100 per cent re big Sam – anyone but him for me. I want someone who can see us promoted and stable in the PL, the long term.
I’m with you.
Anyone but Big Sam.
I’m sorry but he’s had his day.
We should be looking to the future not back at the past.
Agree with you and Jerryd, Robin
Football has definitely moved on.
COMBs!
supposedly thelwell been given the job of sorting out the new manager, wonder what mendes thinks of that – sure that big sam would like the gig and we would back him – sorry for wz but not moving family to England did not fill with confidence.
Should be able to beat Blackburn surely ?
With everybody going for a 2 1 win I’ll go the other way. Can’t see the defence holding out.
I will be very interested to see the line up Rob Edwards picks. I’m guessing from a few of his comments in the press conference about hard work and commitment that a few of the underperforming summer signings might not get on the pitch. It’s only really Costa, Bodvarsson and Saiss who have had any sort of real impact so I don’t expect Oniangue, Cavaleiro and Teixeira to feature tomorrow.
I also wouldn’t be surprised to see recalls to the squad for the likes of Stearman, Saville, Wallace, Price or Borthwick-Jackson.
I wish Rob all the best and wouldn’t be sad if he was given a run until the right replacement was found but I think tomorrow he’ll get off to a losing start.
I think Borthwick-Jackson has been recalled by ManU.
If Rob Edwards gets it right and we shore up the leaky defence and we’ve practiced the shooting on sight like all other teams do to us, then there is a sound case for giving him another go. My only reservation is that they play the “new man in charge game” for a few then drop back to the usual Wolves we know.
Just couple of points, Mr Brompton, it’s Rob, not Dave Edwards. Also Coady is out for 4 weeks with a Hernia op having just been performed, so more scope for Rob to play HIS game.
I can’t make this game due to Grandaughter duties, (my first miss this season) so it will be interesting when the Sky cameras start picking out all the unemployed managers in the crowds. Me, I think we shall see Vitor Pereira in the crowd, watching his future unfold.
New man in charge syndrome tomorrow so I’m going for a Brompton high score but only 3-0 to Wolves
So is that Mason and Coady both out with hernia ops Stu? Quite a coincidence.
Oh Bugga,
That’s what I get for trying to be a smart arse, clever clogs.
Yes, you are correct it is Joe Mason who had the hernia not Coady.
Grovel, grovel, creep, creep, (backtrack, backtrack) an easy mistake, he plays like he has a hernia.
Sorry Connor, youv’e played well the last couple of games. Cheap shot.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Off to Ewood in a hour. Hope my prediction is wrong.
Thanks for the correction Mr Alves MBE. Will be funny going to an away game and not seeing you there, have a good weekend Sir.
Streamed Blackburn at high-flying Bristol City a couple of weeks back and they looked well organised but lacking a cutting edge. Expect Rob E to shore the defence up, or at least get them organised, and maybe Costa to show he’s a class apart in this division.
I think it will get worse before it gets any better.
Although we’ve got a good record at The Chicken Shack……I think that with all of the goings on this week will be a massive spur to Blackburn.
This will be a big opportunity for them and despite the euphoria of Rob Edwards taking charge for the first time ….I have a horrible feeling that this is a copycat scenario of the ill fated Terry Connor moment. …For this game at least.
For sure no-one could possibly emulate his feat I feel tomorrow will be a step too far to avoid defeat.
Don’t like to but I’m just being realistic……
This may go against the grain, but am I the only one yet to be overly impressed by Saiss? Bit of a left footed Coady from what I’ve seen so far.
This one is simply just too hard to call so I’ll sit on the fence.
Forecasting ha definitely not suddenly become easier. Would love to see a win for RE who by all accounts is a good genuine guy. I find it hard to understand the enthusiasm for Big Sam, surely the episode that led to his England departure suggests a severe lack of judgement – if nothing more.
Going to be an interesting watch tomorrow. I am expecting Rob Edwards to bring in a few of the ‘old’ guard – i.e. Wallace and Price back into the squad, if not in the starting line up. Costa to provide the magic and Dadi to finish.
Hoping for regime change bounce plus all I hear about Dave’s son has been encouraging so fingers crossed – 2-0 win
Was pleased Rob Edwards kept a job with the arrival of Zenga but i fear the fans hoping he can turn this around and avoid bringing in a big nasty man like Pearson are in for a reality check. No prediction for me just got to let this thing unfold.
I have to say I’ve been really impressed by Rob Edwards pre-match interview. However, talking the talk on camera doesn’t win football matches, walking the walk on the pitch does that.
But, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, I shall assume that Rob is the new Guardiola and go for us to win.
I expect the team to put on a good show tomorrow, and win the game whoever Edwards picks.
A win for the temporary manager and hopefully the start of a great run that will land him the job permanently.
1-0
Anybody but Freedman, Ince or Pearson Big Sam must be given the chance or we will be kicking ourself once again as per Steve Bruce, as for tomorrow………
Not confident, I’m afraid
Would take a point considering the circumstances.
Up the Wolves
First of all Good luck to Rob Edwards.
The players are there to win this game, but it could be tough .
don’t know who the hell he’el start with but I’m sure we can win.UTW.
Sam Allardyce doesn’t want the job.
My 1st prediction this season, Costa to wake up and smell the coffee. He is class.
I think that StuWolf might be right about who ournew boss wil be. If I were to pin my marker on a Brit boss, it would be Nigel Adkins (if it is he who turned the Saints around), or Paul Lambert.
Can someone tell me why. Thelwell is in charge if the search? Why does Jeff Shi rate him so highly?
I’m still a believer, we will arise from the ashes, starting tomorrow 3-1 COYW !!!!
Zenga bus starts rolling? I mean the Edwards exorcet starts thundering!
The Zenga bus blew up on Tuesday and is permanently doomed. The Edwards Hovercraft rolls smoothly in to East Lancashire and in the process disturbs many locals tucking in to rabbit eyeball stew for dinner. The rabbit is purchased from Arthurs butchers and costs only £1.00. It is still alive and is called Penelope. Someone has to kill Penelope but they are saved the hideous task because the Edwards Hovercraft inadvertantly runs over the hapless rabbit saving a horrible job for someone. Any way it is about time we scored a couple of goals. I seem to remember Dangerous sheepishly scoring with his hand last year. Could it happen again? Yes. Will the rabbit stew be ruined by the Edwards Hover craft? How many trees are there in Canada? Who cares. 2-1mighty WWFC.
Brilliant, Cheeseburger
UTW!
Come on me Babbies !!!
Dont want ” the new Guadeola” , he’s currently on the worst unwinning run of his career, six without a win.
Change your name to Clipboard, Pepe, then you’ll see an unwinning run to be proud of!!!
Edwards, Big Sam, Pearson, Lambert, Uncle Tom Cobberley, my Aunties left tit,…….
Who cares?
Whoever is manager it is our lot in life to get behind him or her and the lads 100%
We have no say in whom is appointed, so lets just get on with cheering them to an easy victory tomorrow.
I am getting a slap up breakfast and front row seats to the match, courtesy of Houston Lobo, so dont expect any blogs from me for a few days coz I’lll be horse!!
FOwb
….. or her? Brilliant. I wonder when/if we will ever see that happen.
I hope jack price will be playing someone to master the midfield we need to win and give rob Edwards a good start so it’s COYW
See the tiresome “must win game” has reared its head elsewhere. Utter bollox – EVERY game is a must win game. Any footballer who steps out over the white line without that mindset is a tosspot and a fraud.
However – Tomorrow is a must win game………..?
Wolves to win 5 1 to show possibly one of the smallest ever Sky tv audience for a live game the way to goal. I hope to catch the game in between sleepover duties.
Make up for the reverse score from our first Prem game in August 2004 when Iversson scored for Wolves and we were half joking “down already”. Little did we know……!
Happy 60th birthday to Bedford Wolf on Tuesday. Old git from an even older got.
BOG
I’m excited to be hitting 60 on Tuesday. I’ve always heard how the 60’s were a time of great fashion, great music and the sexual revolution. Now I’ve just bought a nice new black Italian suit, pure wool and very expensive with an equally expensive DKNY blue shirt, I am listening to The Beatles as I type this and so can’t wait for all the sex, revolting or otherwise, to commence. Roll on Tuesday!
P.S Although I predicted a 0-0 draw today I had a dream last night that we won 4-0.
Oooohhhh God ….. get some boxing gloves on mate…..
You’re bang on about the 60’s though Bedford….. sounds as though you’ve just come back from Carnaby St.. you forgot the cravate though…..
Sorry to disappoint you but……..the 60’s aint very good BW……….time for bits to drop off – things to go wrong or shrivel up – dick, hearing, eyesight, sense, hair, nostrils and ear lobes full of hair which hurts like ell when “tweezering” them out to look a bit presentable, yellowing teeth, plates, excess flatulence, expanding waistline, new knees and hips, memory lapses (who the feck are you?), loud belches after dinner (what fecking dinner). Ears get bigger and bigger so by the time you reach 75 they resemble Dumbo’s Oh yes – welcome to the 60’s my friend.
BUT if you mean the 1960’s now that is different……..if you can remember the 1960’s you weren’t there or something like that.
More to follow…..just need my afternoon nap before 5.30 kick off.
Nothing that those little blue pills won’t sort out BOG……Finasteride that is ….Not ready for Viagra just yet !!
You perhaps don’t know this but I get still get 10 fingers on my willie mate….mind you I still piss on 7 of them …b..bum
Ha ha ha – love it Twix.
Same as same as – except I piss through 9…
I was in Iraq for that game, and one of my soldiers who was a Blackburn fan said “welcome to the Prem Boss” He did not like his evening stags! Nah I did not do that to him, I just laughed as he was right lol.
What a funny season that was.
Ha ha ha – nice comment.
Not sure football would have been on my mind if I had been posted to Iraq 12 years ago but I suppose it helped ease what must have been a bloody tense situation at times..
I can understand those not wanting Big Sam for non footballing reasons because of his shady manoeuvring (I recall a Panorama expose when he was at Bolton which led to him refusing to have dealings with the BBC for a few years) but for the life of me just cannot fathom those using their vision of his supposed long ball game as justification for not hiring him.
As far as I am concerned he’s clearly the standout candidate from a footballing perspective and although there’s no guarantees in football, he is the nearest thing to a guarantee we’ll ever get of securing promotion. Every successful team has a solid spine and ensuring such solidity is where Sam excells.Wolves are the exact opposite at present and rectifying the obvious fragility cannot be entrusted to anyone without an appropriate cv.
Football certainly hasn’t moved on as some have suggested (just take a look down the road at the Hawthorns) unless you are moneybags Real Madrid or Barcelona etc. For the bulk of clubs that operate in our real world of the Championship success can only be delivered by the right combination of flair, hard work and organisation so Sam’s our man!
I really hope that the team put in a good performance tomorrow, for the traveling fans and for Rob Edwards, we really need one. Coady said on the radio that all the players are behind him and he is well capable of steering the ship in the interim, reading between the lines, does this mean the players don’t want him as the new replacement full time ? Which manager would I like to see appointed, English Roy Hodson – Foreign anyone whose surname ends with “A” Going for a Wolves win
If not Sam, I’d rather have Rob Edwards than any of the other names mentioned.
Onto tomorrow let’s ease the relegation worries.
Time for the boys to stand up and be counted and I’m hoping for an improved performance, dedicated to both RE and WZ.
It will be interesting to see how the planned Blackburn protest plays out, particularly towards the end of the match. Perhaps an opportunity for Wolves to land a telling blow while the opposition are distracted?
One last word on Zenga: I liked his Instagram the other day, ‘Once a wolf, always a wolf.’ My sentiments exactly.
Don’t have a bloody clue. Neither has anyone else. Four nil. Why not?
I sort of agree with Whitestone. If it is a choice between a bunch of also rans and RE. Think i would give RE a go. With Scott Sellars it might be worth a go ?
So here we go again, I just hope Edwards doesn’t possess a clipboard or brolly or anything else that can be used to beat him over the bonce with.
I posted the other day that neither of our ex-England managers had exactly set the world on fire and if you think that this potential one wouldn’t blow up in a maelstrom of pragmatism, dour performances and ‘stars’ in the mold of el haji djouf; while dismally presided over by Jorge (the goat of) Mendes, then you have more faith than me…..I actually checked to see whether our true owner wasn’t Dr Fu Man Chu the other day, he always used to claim that the World would hear from him again, and to have him surface in Wolverhampton would be just our luck…..
Anyway, I’m gonna have to stop drinking this brasso and dare to predict Wolves to win; just!
UTW and may the force be with us!
Great post Larry. 🙂
I think there’s a decent team in our squad somewhere, just needs a bit of organisation and then stability. This is something Zenga didn’t seem able to give us ultimately he was a rushed appointment and really had no chance from the start. Away fans will have seen at Villa Blues and Newcastle the talent is there.
Now with big Sam unlikely and not much else that is inspiring around I hope Rob Edwards gets a run up to xmas unless things go totally pear shaped.
One other thing as anyone noticed Dave Edwards looks more and more the leader on the pitch , time for a few others to show the same passion.
Big Sam doesn’t want it.
There’s no one out there at the moment any better than KJ or Walter..
These Chinese guys are so far proving to be more stupid than M&M if that’s possible…
Relegation on the cards guys prepare yourselves…
Rob Edwards seems perfect for the interim role and not likely to lead us to a TC style demise. But IMO if we are to stear the ship north we will need a new captain to offer a fresh perspective. That’s no slight on RE, I’m sure he has a good career in management coming up but I doubt the time is right to step forward for Wolves.
If we can’t have Sam then Lambert or Jol would be my other choices from the book. Pearson scares me and I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not.
BTW way some bookies have now shut the book so something must be cooking up.
Can we do Blackburn at Blackburn again, yes why not, a lot of negativity around them at the moment so lets get early and late goals so they literally have nothing to sing about.
Wanderers will never die we’ll keep the gold flag flying high…
Has anyone seen a quote from alladyce saying he does not want job?
No qoute it just seems like conjecture from his previous statements in which he said he was going away for a while.
I think we’ll win this one. Less pressure away from home and a kick up the arse for the players with a new manager coming in.
According to the Telegraph Sam is not interested in the job. I have a liking for Brian McDermott who has the experience in this division but what do I know? Martin Jol ? Maybe
But not Pearson no no no….no
And wasn’t it the Telegraph that stitched him up in the first place?
Happy with a point, but predict my normal score
One could never say that this season isn’t fascinating. On the TV again so looking forward to that although we know how well we perform in front of the cameras.
Bring back Price, shore up the back and I am tipping a narrow win.
Wolves will be embarrassed tomorrow and our real problems will be exposed. We’re in trouble…
Dour – two teams that will be very afraid of losing.
Gfxdr nnjklnmjnjjxfdxrecx. Yujhjhb b hi
Amanda.
Welcome back, people have missed you?
(My little boy wanted to press the buttons )
And I was just about to say that that was the most insightful thing you’ve said on here in ages! Lol
Lol. Now that was funny.
I fear the story re Big Sam could be true -not totally convinced..but if it is then that’s really shit news as I think with money it’s a gimme that we would return to the big time.
How can he not grasp the nettle?
Lambert IMO is prob better than Pearson but he would be more manipulated than Pearson who is up there no doubt..
I can’t see a curve ball coming in as Mendes will want to show that lapetegue was his first choice and after Zenga’s failing his reputation could be Q.
Oh dear that leaves Woy…and Yep for me Harry but he makes Sam look like a financial choirboy…
Woes and more Woes…
It’s the Daily Telegraph that was reporting Sam isn’t interested. The same Daily Telegraph who exposed him with their underhand sting in the first place. How likely is it that Sam would tell the Daily Telegraph anything? He might deliberately tell them rubbish though to make them look stupid. Don’t give up on Sam just yet. I am hoping the owners take notice of what the fans want and by an overwhelming margin – over 60% – Sam is the people’s choice.
If Sam isnt interested we just got to move on. This is turning into a very public messy process with the realistic candidates often getting torn to shreds in the social media. For those that say anybody but him careful what you wish for. Others may turn round and rule themselves out. We need some cool heads in this ‘process’. Some of the fans on here just seem to want a very nice man like that very nice man Mr Jackett.
On today i have had a change of heart Rob Edwards seems a smart young coach i am going to wish him well and predict a 2-0 win. Finally totally get where Matts boy is coming from he could be our football manager one day.
Forgot to put score in the boxes !
More like lucky dip each game that passes.
Rob Edwards seems a sensible fellow, and a pragmatist, so stuff our midfield with Brits, the Portugese on the bench, and make sure we don`t concede anything.
Give the flair players the last 30 mins against tiring opponents, and lets hope for a 3-1 win, and why not. There must be another St James Park performance in our changing room, may as well be today. Good luck Rob. As for Pearson, his antics at Leicester & Derby show me he is a bit of a fruitcake, as for Lambert, mmmm why not, best of the available bunch for me, and he is a jock, so he qualifies as a foreigner as well.
But lets win this one and move forward.
Can’t make the game today, Gutted, pure gutted.
If we are looking for someone else other than BS to take the helm, then surely we want a person who knows the Club, knows this God Damn awful league, knows the players (new as well as old). We want someone who loves this club, who can work with people without Prima Donna status and causing upheaval in the background, knows the set up, knows the fans expectations, home and away and has the respect of players so they will play 90 minutes for them.
Step forward our very own Rob (the Dave) Edwards, his ear piece is his only trade mark for us to beat him with (BOG) apart from that he seems a capable, pleasant, amiable young progressive coach. He certainly hasn’t ripped up trees with the U21’s but in his defence we played good footy and had the KJ disease (can’t defend for feck effect to contend with and all his best players were dragged off by KJ to warm their arses on a bench.
So in the absence of a Sir Alec, I’m going to get behind him and back him to the hilt (or sack whichever comes first) this is a cutthroat game and no quarter is given, I hope the lad does well and maybe, just maybe there is Pep, Jose, Sir Alec or Tony Pulis in there somewhere or “Somewhere over the Rainbow” I have saved Penelope’s eye as a good luck charm and hope we can find the “Right Man” out there to set us going. It’s certainly not too late to mount a challenge, Newcastle are what we should be aimimg for. So onwards and upwards.
We’re Wolves fans and if we will pay £3.60 for a Bhalti pie then we can endure anything.
Be careful what you wish for was the cry.
Well I wished for Moxey, Morgan and Jackett to be gone.
Look how that turned out. (Feckin Brilliant)
If they were so expensive or bad, why did people buy them? Just eat before you get to the game.
To anyone who thought Zenga should have been given more time, it’s the other way round. Zenga should have given Wolves more time! It’s his own fault. You can’t live in Dubai with your family and commute to Wolves for the day job, living out of a suitcase. That’s not commitment.
Zenga clearly did not take the job seriously enough. If he had, he would still be in it and we would probably be knocking on top six’s door.
If I can reply to my own post I would add that Zenga also neglected watching the youngsters at Wolves through being absent in Dubai. For all he knew we could have had a budding Wayne Rooney in the academy. In spite of his public displays of passion for Wolves, the reality was different. This was a mercenary attitude.
I’m sure someone would have told him if we had a superstar in the academy.
I think the old backroom boys didn’t like him and got him kicked out.
A narrow win. Pretty please.
Who ever comes in HAS to be able to choose there own back room team and players, someone has blogged we have to keep Rob Edwards…WHY. The minute you start putting conditions on possible candidates we will end up back where we are now……Walter had restrictions and conditions put on him and that’s partly why he failed through no fault in some part of his own.
New man new back room team new players it has to be there choice if they are going to stand any chance of success.
I’ve a different view of Blackburn. They’ve got a few results but they’re going nowhere under Coyle. I fancy us to get a result today, I think we’ll come out and play for Edwards.
Coyle “managed” Houston Dynamo, and they were shit under him.
If a supposed top British manager cannot succeed in the mickey mouse MLS, then he aint gonna do any good back over the pond.
I for one aint skeered of any team he puts out.
Were the players any good at the time in Huston?
Houston…………………………………
A tense directionless draw, can’t wait for big Sam.
Just as well. He ain’t coming.
One successful prediction, one more to go
Draw for me. Coyle could be too clever for us tbough
I remember saying earlier somewhere that Zenga cannot rely on the enthusiasm to last for a long period of time. The players will eventually get tire of all of the training and go back to their normal degree of effort or get pissed off at all of the work.
That being said, I not really bothered that Big Sam doesn’t want the job, his style, from what I’ve been reading, is not very progressive. This isn’t the 1980s.
I think Wolves should try to get Pellegrini back from China. He isn’t as old as he looks and should have a few good years in him.
The only thing we can hope for from Rob Edwards is that he can shore up the defense and pick a side that will better defend. Not sure how he is going to get players who have not been able to find the back of the net to actually start scoring. From what I’ve been reading, we have had chances but just not been able to find the twine.
I guess 0-0 is better than losing 1-0.
Anyway, keep us close, Rob, so we can be withing shooting distance of the playoffs when the new recruits from the January window come in. Remember, Wolves just ran out of time in the summer window, and were not necessarily finished buying the players they wanted.
Plus, I might add, that who the coach is might have an affect on whether or not players want to sign for the team in January and the summer and will Edwards be the drawing card that some guy like Pellegrini or Silva would be? There are many things to consider when choosing a coach. We obviously need better players, unless Walter have been absolutely useless in getting the most out of the current group.
I’m struggling to predict this one. According to press reports they’ve been working on a high intensity pressing game when out of possession. That was lacking at the last game and is a pre-requisite for success in the Championship. My guess is Edwards will go back to basics and reinstate a number of the old guard. If so, let’s hope there is plenty of flair on the bench to change the game late on.
Watched Wallace at Crewe played well, nice to see him back in.
I’m struggling to see which way this is going so I will sit on the fence
Good Luck Rob Edwards
Common sense says we should win this one. But we are on the box, the players need a kick up the arse, and every time I predict a win, we lose. I give up.
I see the start of a relegation battle…
Overheard outside KTs office,,,,,,,,,,,,, Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, and Allardyce/Pearson/Grub
Looking at our tragic position now in the league -more so after Fosun (!)…it’s no wonder Zenga was sacked..v embarrassing..
We need a true messiah to get us up the top …almost la la land..
3 points desperately needed even to pretend we are joining in..
Good team though with what we’ve got …
Hope we do better than last time Edwards was in charge – I was one of the 8,000 who watched us get mauled by Swansea in pre-season.
Any win is a good win.
Come on me babbies!
I’m watching the game in Portugal and it’s same old story……13 minutes in we concede fucking unbelievable..!
No Dicko Wallace instead can’t even see what formation we ate playing….Edwards for manager…. Fucking joke.
This is feckin embarrassing, Danny Bhatt is a circus clown.
Sorry Rob youv’e hung around KJ too much. Same old, same old.
We just can’t play for 90 minutes…….
I’ll change my above good team with what we’ve got.Very embarrassing so far ..DB the usual giveaway Ikeme saved us from being 2-0 down..
Down to 10 men when Gallagher nutmegs DB and gets him sent off ..
This game a relegation battle and we’re loosing…
For fucking sake Jeff and Fosun stopping fucking about and get Big Sam in NOW the FA cannot stop you employing him under employment law otherwise you’ll be beaming League One football to China….3 games live and 3 loses by the look of if…….how many shirts sold…0
Pleased about the point ,but we are miles away after that performance.
We must stick with the Portuguese players because our other players lack flare IMO.
Who ever comes in got a shite load of work to do to build up confidence.
We looked better when the Portuguese player’s came on,don’t know if they can last 90 mins though.
back four still look shaky.still need a captain.
Big shame Big Sam isn’t coming.
Embarrassing. Watching Batth and Hause made me pine for Rob Hindmarch. That’s how awful they were. Batth was nowhere near his man for their goal, then got rightly booked after being outpaced and was lucky to stay on the pitch after another wild lunge. His distribution is also appalling. I lost count of how many air shots Hause did. In fact the whole defence was dire. Borthwick-Jackson can look classy but mostly looks like he really can’t be arsed. No passion or desire.
Midfield we had three workhorses. Where’s the invention, the craft, the guile? Teixeira made a big difference when he came on. Why? Because at least he is a footballer as opposed to a willing runner.
In attack Bodvarsson looks nothing like the exciting player we saw early season and now looks like a lumbering liability. As for Jed Wallace, aka Me Bean, let’s put him out of his misery and sell him back to Portsmouth as League 2 is his level.
If Rob Edwards is still in charge next week then he must play with flair and skill which means playing Dicko, Cavaleiro and Teixeira. He must also sort out the defence and bring in Silvio, Stearman and Iorfa (at centre back not right back). The midfield must also have flair. Where’s Oniangue gone? Where’s Ola John?
Rob Edwards did not look like a man with any authority, let alone ideas.
Observations trying to be neutral. Way too many of our defending headers go vertical not forward therefore no cleared and gravity being what it is the opposition get another go.
When you are marking a man you need to be in his face not 3 yards away.
The idea is to pass to your team mates i.e. the guys in the same colour shirts.
We are desperate for a leader on the pitch who has some idea, this current form is relegation material so it’s no yet November and we’re in deep poo.
If Big Sam does not want or can’t have it I really don’t fancy any of the other options.
One of the commentators mentioned getting back in the Premiership, reality check “That is not going to happen any time soon”
At the end of the game I was thoroughly fed up.
Ok, understand the frustration, but chuffed for Rob Edwards…tough situation for him & got a point. Most of you guys on here had us as world beaters after the Villa second half.
Why no Dicko orRice far better at winning the ball back with Price.
Cannot understand Dicko on bench all of the game Dadi needs a partner before we destroy his confidence all together…. Rob Edwards is the Terry Connor I’m afraid folks not a hope in hell of getting the job, it’s too big a job for a rookie in fact is going to take a Big Man to get us out of the more….,,,enter Big Sam even a blind man can see he’s the man for the job!
In a season that continues to baffle me on so many fronts, one of the strangest things is not only Danny batth continuing to be picked but the fact that he is made captain and that he has been given a four year contract? Even at his best he shows himself to be no more than a combative but slow championship defender. He is in no way a leader or organiser so why have him as captain? If we aspire to the premiership why give him a four year deal as how on earth would he be regularly selected in one or two years time against the pace and movement offered by most premiership strikers? I want fosun to succeed as I’m sure all wolves fans do but let’s not kid ourselves with all this roller coaster bollocks and let’s have some consistent progression as a result of clear thinking and sound decisions from senior management within the club both on the footballing and non footballing side. We need some leaders in this side as much as we need a new manager.
Re Big Sam..
Emergency situation Fosun.
Sam can get us out of this ..he likes money..(you don’t say (!) as per telegraph)
Pay him what ever he needs match the England deal and we will be millions better off in the PL ..
If he’s not apparently interested ..then make him interested ..
Sam doesn’t want to come.
Too many players with little or no pace, a captain and centre half that simply is not up to either task, and as for leaving the Portuguese on the bench …. well !
This was a game to win and we were set up not to lose aka kj.
We can’t hit teams on the break without the new boys, when they dont play we haven’t got a clue.
Ìt was desperate stuff ….embarrassing at times, some of the passing was Sunday morning standard.
Derby will murder us …this was league 1 quality if that.
Not good and I doubt Mr Edwards has what it takes to turn it round.
How quickly things can fall apart is amazing.
We desperately need pace and flair the new lads have to play the whole game .. no more excuses.
Sorry fosun but you don’t have time to waste. .we need a top man now or this will only get worse.
Cost me £10 to park, robbing Blackburn bar stewards. As for the game, I should have stayed home and watched it on TV.
How we got a point is beyond me as we played so badly. Looking at the table though I see we are 17th with a goal differencd of -1. ALL the clubs below us have a worse goal difference than us as does two teams above us. Also there are two teams in the play off spots who have the same as us so once again I do not consider our failings to be purely down to our defense. As I said there are two teams in the play off positions with -1 and they are there because they win more. And, to win more you have to score goals – fact.
I rest my case.
Havind said that BATTH is shit and needs replacing pronto.
Forgot to add, the best part of today was travelling down to Ewood listening to the shit getting slapped by Man City.
Danny Batth needs is not a talker houter organiser neither is Hause or Iorfa by the looks of it. As a result they all look a bit like strangers meeting in the box for the first time. It seems to take a goal to gee them up which with our scoring record is a very dodgy policy. Must admit i was very pessimistic but my wife was quite confident we would equalise. Dangerous Dave deserved his motm. Thought it was very telling that Dadi was completely free in the box and Costa didnt bother crossing to him but tried to cut it back to a heavily marked Texeira. Agree with above we need a scorer!!
Should read needs help he is not a talker, shouter..
I’m probably going to get shot down here, but we created more than enough chances to win that game. We are not confident enough in front of goal period. Bod is great in link up and has skill to create but we are lacking a number 9 we haven’t had one since afobe couldn’t be arsed to play for us. Defence is a big worry, we need an experienced or just good (Harry maguire) number 5 at this club to play alongside Batth or whoever. Batth is club because he’s been here all his career and Fosun feel that’s symbolic. Well please don’t worry about that the fans would rather see a leader on the pitch and someone who doesn’t put us a goal down when he plays. Send stearman back and reintroduce Price in midfield for fcuk sake we most certainly do not conceded as many goals when he is in the side. Not to sure about the manager if (wolves fan) Sam doesn’t want it.
