I thought the win over Blackburn back in August was Wolves’ best performance of the season.

It needed to be too because Rovers were mightily impressive themselves and could easily have taken something from a pulsating second half.
There didn’t seem to be much between the sides then and looking at the table now, it’s clear that assessment was accurate.
Hopefully this odd Sunday afternoon kick-off can live up to the previous meeting. Our record at Ewood Park is good in recent times.
Blackburn
Gary Bowyer appeared to have discovered the type of consistency that for a couple of seasons has prevented his side from becoming a mainstay of the top six. But then they stuttered.
Blackburn have won just once in their last six, losing three in the process and slipping out of the play-off places and down to ninth (two points behind Wolves).
They’ve had some tricky fixtures in that run though, playing Middlesbrough twice (without losing), Brentford and a resurgent Bolton side.
Rudy Gestede, who missed the game at Molineux, is their 12 goal top scorer, eclipsing the evergreen Jordan Rhodes. I also like the look of wingers Ben Marshall and Craig Conway.
Wolves
It’s nice to have a little ativanoral.com five game undefeated run (including the cup draw at Fulham) after losing every game in November. But this will be a tough test, particularly without Bakary Sako.

Hopefully Nouha Dicko is fit and firing as without him the team takes on a more unflattering complexion. Without Sako, his pace and trickery is even more important.
The team probably picks itself and I’ll be surprised, barring injury, if that’s not the eleven that plays.
Doherty, Evans and Clarke all got a game last weekend because of suspensions and injury, but I’m not sure any did enough to stake a claim.
The gaffer
Predictions
With Blackpool and Charlton at home to follow, a draw wouldn’t be a bad result from this game. A seven point return from the three matches would be excellent.
Hopefully if Blackburn play Gestede and Rhodes up front, Wolves can make use of an extra man in midfield and dominate the ball, whilst containing two very good forwards.
That’s the best case scenario of course. As eluded too higher up, I don’t think there’s much to choose in terms of quality, so I’ll sit on the fence with a draw.
1-1
Up The Wolves

Jackett gives short shrift to moaning about fixture congestion then! Refreshing
I feel we have turned a corner and feel confident of a good playoff place (at least) in May. Are we ready for promotion – absolutely not but we should be contenders
Still not sure how we will cope with Sako. Would love to see a win or a draw even, but in a prediction league Head before Heart 🙁
Its time for the wingers other than Sako to step up to the plate. This will also be a test for young full backs.
UTW
Too close to call . . . . . .
Think we’ll struggle without sako. But a draw would be a solid result
Agreed Sheffield 1 all for me too.
The good thing about Blackburn is the small pie shop over the road from the ground. Brilliant pies an all. The bad thing about Blackburn is there are only 4 or 5 pubs in the town centre. Having weighed up 1 good thing and 1 bad thing I will therefore go for a 1-1 draw which won’t be a bad result for the Wolves.
Really not sure about this. My heart tells me we can get a draw but I’m going with my head.
Be a high scoring game this one. Sako will be a miss but his work rate can be found wanting at times. We have more than enough on the bench and in the reserves to cope without him. Let’s not be giving them excuses before the game has kicked off. Decent second half of the season and a top 6 finish should be achievable. Nowhere near good enough for the step up yet though, another season of building and breakthroughs required
Just give your best gents
UTW
Hoping for the win but think a draw is more likely.
If we can keep their strike force under wraps and maybe nick a goal with Dicko – happy days.
Then we just have to win our next to home games and it’s looking good.
COYW
Just a gut feeling, but I think this one is going to be a very pleasant surprise to quite a lot of us.
Would like a win but think a draw most likely here. I do worry where our goals will come from right now, especially with Sako away.
UTW
I think we’ll sneak this one.
Henry to chip in with the winner.
We’re up against a very good side but we’re also a good side on our day. Sako will be missed but we’d better get over it as he may well be sold before he returns from the AN Cup. I can see a high-scoring draw, a better outcome for us than Blackburn.
Hi all, I used to come on this blog all the time as it’s by far the best Wolves read for you’ll find any where Ben and Thomas have a way of putting points across like no other I also couldn’t wait to see what Clive had to say, I came on here all through the disaster that was terry Connor but then during the stale bacon/ Saunders season I stopped, why you might ask well it’s as simple as this during that season it was bad enough sat in the south bank watching my pride and joy fall apart having to walk out of the mol spitting mad along side other people as angry and mad as me as we all moaned our way out, then same again in the hogs head as people with steam coming out of thier ears ranted and raved but by the time I got home 6,7 sometimes 8 or 9 pints later it didn’t seem that bad as morrissey said I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour but then I’d come on here and relive the whole day again and all of a sudden heaven knows I’m miserable now life is now crap because it’s reminded me wolves are crap so sad to say I stayed away for my own sanity, but I’ve returned today to ask you all a huge favour, I’ve recently started a facebook page for football betting tips it’s in the early stages and I’m trying to raise its audience so I’m asking you all if you can help out a fellow wolf and like and share it please and maybe it could win you some money, as for how I feel about Wolves right now I couldn’t be happier with what we are, a competitive championship team which I much prefer to a premier league wannabe like a younger kid trying to play with the older boys but never quite being accepted as for moxey and Morgan I still don’t trust them as far as I can throw a baby elephant ive said for a long time now that as soon as Morgan has creamed all the cream he can he’ll sell us down the river to first Turkish chickin farmer who’ll doubl his £10 deposit , tomorrow’s game at Blackburn without the threat of sako id more than take a point I go 1-1 this is the link for my page https://www.facebook.com/pages/All-4-one-footie-tips/1395198304107365
Thank you in advance and I’m ready to be a regular visitor again FWAW come on me babies
Welcome back, Dean.
You were definitely not alone in your misery, even my dogs over here became blacksmiths, coz they knew every time The Wolves lost they would feel my wrath and have to make a bolt for the door!
The old ones are the best, like me
Onwards and upwards!!
And of course…FOwb
Thanks for that Clive, yes the old ones are the best , as is listening to villa fans close to tears on em like I just have its fast becoming the highlight of my week and of course fowb
That should say wm damn predictive text
A draw for me and that would also be satisfactory.
UTW!
It is going to be an amazing day. We are going to be shown that we can still play some excellent football without Sako and ruin Blackburn’s day with some very impressive stuff. Our young back line will be steadfast and we will come alive in front of goal. I woke up this morning with that dream still in my head so:
I think we might just scrape it.
I’ve put 2-1 to us, but I reckon this could be tough based on nothing else than the fact that they’ve been struggling recently while we’ve been doing rather well. Ominous.
Tough game. Getting one point would be a great achievement tomorrow. Good luck lads…
Iv’e noticed or should I say haven’t noticed Jordan Graham has not played with the U21’s, it was said “he would be training with the first team thos week”, is he going to be a surprise addition tomorrow.mmmmm food for thought, so on that thought I’m going for 3-1 Wolves.
COMB
🙂
Changing your mind so soon?
I suppose it’s a woman’s prerogative.
Thick fingers of a thick operator. Well spotted that man.
I’m starting a collection for PMDG’s Polo shirt, she’s dainty and petite so perhaps we can get a discount off Arthur Daley Brompton.
🙂
Could be a freebie even, considering I no longer have to order a fat bastid size for our mate over the pond.
You watch the result be 3-1 now and you only pick up 1 point!
Hopefully we can contain their forwards and Dicko will grab a goal (at least)!
Not an easy game by any means but we should have more than enough to win this.
Would still like to see Jacobs in instead of Henry.
Really going for some set piece goals or from our cdm’s. Rhode is still one of the most talented players in the league
Back in the dim depths of history, 2003, our first game in the Prem was at Blackburn, and we lost rather unluckily 1 – 5.
Tomorrow is time for vengeance, and we will reverse that scoreline.
Blind Pugh has sent them the gold and black spot, our hour has come!!!
And you will all be pleased to know that my little doggie, River, is recovering nicely from her surgery.
FOwb
Recovering from surgery? I did not know she was poorly, but glad to hear about the recovery. Hope she gets better quickly.
I was sat in Iraq watching the 5-1 drubbing – it was horrid, especially when one of my lads said “Welcome to the Premiership Sir”. He was on duty all the following week – silly boy!!
Got to be positive – another win for the Wolves.
I’m going for a late winner from Dicko to make it a hatrick for him that’s the dream, just hope it becomes reality………..?
Gonna sit on the fence for this one.????
I’ve read all the predictions so far and after each one I have thought to myself:- “I’m going to predict a draw”.
Now it comes to it – I just can’t bring myself to do it.
I am getting all excited about the trip to my Mecca next week and am in full ramming speed positive mode.
We’re gonna win!
PS. Glad to hear about your dog Clive. Send her my best, won’t you.
Thank you, kind sir.
How the hell has Norwich won at Bournemouth ? ..and since we got stuffed at home by Forest we’ve obviously cursed Stuart Pierce ..could even loose his job…The wonders of the championship ..
I think this could be difficult ..unless we close up the back early and rely on K mac to move the play forward and hit them on the break ..Thomas’s side is the strongest I agree..
Sako’s absence is not some thing to relish so I hope iorfa will steam down the wing and give Dicko a few chances ..no doubt that Henry and price will try to feed him too..
If Clarke comes on later I’m going to get pissed…( and I’m tee total)
Let’s scrape a win…
COYW
I don’t think we will miss Sako as much as some people think. He certainly has a lot of flair and no shortage of talent but he remains an inconsistent player, which I think is why he is not playing in the prem. If we play as well as we have been lately we are definitely capable of grabbing a point.
I think a point would be a good result. Disappointed but completely unsurprised that we now go into our second game in the window without any significant addition to the first team or indeed the prospect of such. Shows u how w@*k the 2 Ms are that even clowns like the venkys didn’t contrive to take BRFC into league one.
Wight wolf I have to say this ..Sako is so ahead of our team with his skills that he even gets bored and decides to take a rest sometimes..
He also gets peeved when we miss a great chance (Clarke) that he has worked 20 mins for..so why should he try yet again?
For me he sticks out like a sore thumb and although very left footed he seems to have the ability to beat players at will..even to go back to them to do it again..
It will be a miricle if we keep him..
I know I keep banging on about ibrahim Kieta and Conor Hunte in the U21s, but last night against the Shite U21s infront of 965 shall we say rowdy fans, ( feckin fighting amongst each other) a certain Mr Bancassi stole the show. His footwork and ball control was quite Sako like. He let fly with a rocket that slammed the post, only to watch Kieta miss the rebound from 4 metres, ( sound familiar?)
It appears a spell out on loan has done him a power of good also. Can we find a team for Lazytown Leon?
🙂
Which one will register? The first one I think. I am sure Thomas said that when you place a prediction, it makes no difference if you place another as the first one is the one that gets registered.
See you tomorrow. I plan to be there around 12 ish, but I will text you when I arrive.
I don’t mind which one goes through, my predictions are WBA anyway, the first one say’s 3 to Wolves on both so that will do for me cocker. See you the morro Maj.
🙂
Going for a narrow Wolves win.
We will definitely miss the Sak man, but could just pull it off with some tricky Dicko magic.
Come on Me Babbies.
On current league form (last 6) we’ve both scored 6 and conceded 8. But we took 10 points and they only took 5. Tho’ I love him, I’m not too bothered about missing Sako – we’ve won without him before and can do it again given that the momentum is with us. But we’ve got to maintain the defensive standards of the last few matches.
Tough one to call,Blackburn have some good player’s,so do we. so here’s hoping for at least a point, But 3 points would be brilliant but as long as we don’t lose i’ll be happy.UTW.
Dropped off badly in the prediction league recently and this one doesn’t feel like it will help. 1-1 seems to be the default position, with hopes of 6pts from the following too games. Given the perversity of our league, I suspect that form and position won’t determine the outcomes, so I’ll go against the drift here, with our defence keeping their two quiet and just sneaking one ourselves. It will be like the effin Alamo out there! Always remembered that comment from a game at the Mol in the 90s against Tranmere when Bully had put us ahead and our goal was under assault in the last 10.
Peakwolf,
Don’t go encouraging that bloke Clive from Houston with talk of the Alamo.
He ain’t got over the last time he hired a car from them.
🙂
Yeah, I thought I was being Thrifty, by stretching my Budget as I Enterprisingly booked a car from a National chain, using my Avis-a card, but it Hertz when your Dollar don’t go as far as the Alamo.
Good job Sam Houston rode a hoss, or we’ed all be speaking Spanish.
Back on song I see, 2015………
Onwards & Upwards.
🙂
Glad that an old man’s fond memories have stirred philosophical thoughts of car hire! I can see CfH’s experience has left him Sixt as a parrot.
Our defence is looking solid, Blackburn will attack leaving room at the back for Wolves to nick two goals from Nouho.
I fancy us to nick this one
2015 will see Wolves undefeated (except for the cup) until early March.
Tough game and a draw would be a great result . Hopefully we seem to be a lot more solid at the back and the bad run is behind us.
Fancy us tomorrow.
The fact it’s not on the TV is an added bonus!
As long as the defence holds out…
The resurgent Wolves defence can contain Gestede & Rhodes while Dicko grabs his customary goal.
Jackett will organise a team to do the job without Sako, we need to take advantage of the results that went our way today, then continue the good work in those next two home games.
No idea about this game so maybe sit on the fence… On second thoughts a Wolves win sounds better.
Come on me babbies
defence will contain their forwards and we will score an early one and a late one on the break
Hard to see anything other than a tight game ending in a draw.
Nice to see Moxey and Morgan have pulled out all of the stops to support Hackett and the (deserving of better) fans of WWFC to find suitable replacements for Sako.
It’s the start of another transfer window let down…..
S/Be Jackett…. sorry Kenny
Going for the win as always with Clarke getting the winner last off COYW
I think at full strength we can match anyone, so I’m a bit disapointed we did’nt have a signing lined up Sako and I fear that will be the difference. Come on Jez this should have been sorted
Work our socks off and we should at least match ’em. Here’s to 6 unbeaten in League & Cup.
Looks like my Molineux Mole may have known what he was talking about after all.
It took a while but it’s reared it’s head.
Benik could be the next pal for Nouha. Fingers crossed reports about him have been positive.
http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/wolves-set-to-complete-signing-of-arsenal-striker/?
Ever the optomist
🙂
Also just noticed it’s been posted on Sky Transfer news, Karl Robinson of MK Dons says he’s set to leave this weekend.
Come on Kenny make this one work…….
Come on you Wolves
My PL season has been terrible, so I will protect the important team result by sacrificing my PL selection (and I am worried that we will have much reduced attacking impetus and scoring chances without Sako).
Playing well but no Sako and away in a tough place. 1-1 would be a good result. A win ain’t outta the question but I’d be happy with the draw with 2 home games to come
Happy with the bore draw!
Looking good so far. He seems to know where the goals are…
http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/wolves-set-to-complete-signing-of-arsenal-striker/?
:-)))))
Ben, Thomas.
This is a proxy vote for JerryD who is sadly back in hospital and has asked me to see if you will accept his entry this way as he has no internet access in his Ward.
He is praying for a Dicko Brace. (We all are Jerry)
StuWolf
Tough game. Here’s hoping…
It’s been said before, head over heart on this one
Sako is definitely a loss, but James Henry is a more than able replacement. He provides a genuine goal threat and can be every bit as good as our Malian magician on his day. That said I’d take a draw. Two sides probably on a par with each other at the moment.
Can’t convince myself to be more positive- without Sako..hope I’m wrong
I get the feeling in my bones this will be a draw, but as has all ready been alluded to above, wolves have won before without sako so why not again.
I’m going for an good away point with a 1-1 draw.
Draw most likely but backing us to continue our run..
As long as Dicko plays I think we can snag this one.
im gonna go with a 1 all draw. think we’ll struggle today
Ssssh … can you hear it? The noise on the transfer market? NOT! So much for urgently bringing in reinforcements in the striking dept. All Moxler BS, as usual and predicted. Don’t worry though, Clarkey the donkey has us covered. Geez, let’s all just hope that ball doesn’t go at him too fast now! 🙂
Go Wolves!
Signed 21 year old Benik Afobe to be announced tomorrow, Arsenal fans liviid about it and in for Ben Pringle from Rotherham now.
🙂
Afobe was a rumour a while back, great signing! I was also hoping KJ would go for Pringle, I am a big fan of Pringle, he’s a very decent player.
Adam Hammill has moved from Huddersfield to Rotherham on loan, so the Pringle rumour looks good.
Great! Hope he’s not just another cheap buy (U21) but will actually score goals for us. Unlike the Arsenal, we cannot wait for a few seasons before he hits form. We need him scoring now. I’ll believe it when I see it, but will be thrilled if he does. 🙂 Fingers crossed. And we just beat Blackburn, so all good for now!
Please prove me wrong
A hard earned point for me please
Steal it at the last min.
Benik Atofe! 1million?
Would love the 3 points but a draw would be a decent result
Dicko hat trick. He’s back in style
Hopefully we’ll scrape it 1-0.
A classic counter-attacking display by the Wolves.
Hate to even think it, but their front two will be tough to keep out for the whole 90mins.
Good news on Afobe though. 2M’s on the ball again. Looks like he could be a great addition with plenty of time to improve further.
Going for a bullish win though I don’t really believe it myself. Good article about Suzi Perry in the Grauniad this week.
Let’s have another solid defensive effort from Stears and the youngsters. Hope Dicko gets the service he needs, but would be happy with an away point here.
Hard fought nail biter of a victory
I can never predict a Wolves defeat, I always expect them to win or at least draw every match !
Like Clive, I still have not forgotten or forgiven Blackburn for that thrashing they gave us in the Prem. It still hurts.
We have to get on with life without Sako and whilst he is a big loss I believe we have enough strength in depth in his position.
As usual another tough game but I see us continuing our recent good run and come out on top in a close game.
Onwards & Upwards
🙂
Blind optimism.
Come on me babbies
Expecting plenty of goals in this one. Would be more then happy with a draw to extend that unbeaten run.
A win at Blackburn for us has ended with us being relegated in the last few seasons so perhaps it’s best we don’t win! That being said I fancy us to nick it.
Come on me babbies!!
I’ll be happy with a point today. Tough fixture but one we are good enough to get something out of
narrow win.
Any streams out there guys? What happened to WiziWig while I was in NZ???
Wiziwig is no more. No streams today on other sites.
Commentary here
http://tunein.com/radio/BBC-WM-956-s18677/
Well, first half was, now it’s gone.
“Watched” that on text.
One seriously great and important result.
The much maligned and deadly Dave strikes again.
Must have been a great defensive display again.
Must be taken seriously as promotion candidates – even by M&M. Just hoping we can find that striker to secure it.
Momentum momentum…I could hear Stu Wolf from here…must be a great drive home…
It was mate. Great game to watch.
Well it wasn’t a great defensive display.
It was a feckin well defended, good passing, hard fought win for Wolves. Anyone else that was there with Brompton Wolf, me and my missus will confirm, we could easily have won by 4 clear goals and not a Leon in sight.
Wolves fans were outstanding, they really are the extra man. Could’nt believe how poor Blackburn were, all the hype about them being on a roll, they were very physical, came close a few times but I’m sure Kenny will back me up, we were better for sure.
Benik Afobe, Pringle from Rotherham, Boukari andGolbourne closing in on a return. Oh Happy Days.
Wolves players playing for their places is always going to be a positive. James Henry had a blinder today and I’m not a great fan, but he truly shone today.
🙂
Great seeing you both again. Another great performance. A great clean sheet. Stearman was immense.
See you on Saturday.
Great match, I had this annoying little twat next to me all the first half, you should have stayed mate, I got rid of her in the second half.
Stearman Starman, hard to pick a bad performance, Price gave the ball away a few times but he was very good in the main.
I’m on the bell Saturday.
As an aside,
Take a look at the teams we have to play in the next Month………
It’s Tasty, tasty very, very tasty.
🙂
That was a great result . And that afobe looks fantastic .. Too good for arsenal . Get yerself down the wolves and become a legend . U t w and pulls to fail f o w b ( I hate them scums )
Kenny Jackett just confirmed on the radio we have agreed terms for Afobe.
Take a look at him on this video.
http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/wolves-set-to-complete-signing-of-arsenal-striker/?
Not agreed terms Stu as I understand it, agreed a fee with Arsenal.
Now it’s down to Moxey to agree terms.
We’ve lost them before, let’s hope it doesn’t happen again.
You are not wrong hence Kenny not coming right out and agreeing to the question. Talk is of £2 million, let’s hope the pies are selling well at the Molineux.
Hope Pringle from Rotherham turns out to be Kosher also.
I will stick my neck right out here, we did’nt miss Sako today, Henry was on fire.
🙂
Moxey’s not sure about Pringles – he prefers pies.
Well well well very very juicy.
Awesome result a clean sheet as well we are on the up as I said a couple of weeks ago we’ve had our bad patch most of the top six haven’t yet just hope the rumors are true about the lad from north London club he looks a big lad strong and full of confidence and most important full of goals
Well done Kenny and your back room and of course the players.AWESOME…FUCKING AWESOME……..ME BABIES..
Well my prediction of 1-1 was correct.Apart from the fact Blackburn didn’t score a goal. Bloody great result. Is that 4 consecutive away games without conceding ? Well done to the 1500 who travelled up there. I didn’t go but have been up there a few times. Another 15 points and we are safe. Another 30 points .and not too far off the play offs.
Great result, 3 points and another clean sheet, Fantastic, like the look of the new signing 🙂
