As much as we’ve all derided last season’s squad, they’ve now gone seven games undefeated in all competitions dating back to April.
Most of those performances have been agricultural at best, but the results have been solid.
That’s given Walter Zenga a platform to build from, but as we saw on Tuesday it’s painfully clear where additions need to be made.
Creatively we’re lacking, even with the occasional razzmatazz of Teixiera and Costa.
There’s been a lot of speculation but we’re rapidly approaching the final week of the transfer window and I expect things to hot up before the end of August.
Birmingham
I thought Blues played above themselves for most of last season and that’s sure to have raised expectations at St Andrew’s about what could be achieved this time.
They’ve consistently added to their squad – even last week recruiting Che Adams from Sheffield United and fellow striker Greg Stewart from Dundee – so there’s clearly renewed ambition.
I got this from Blues fan Rob from Vital Birmingham City:
Blues haven’t had a bad start to the season – as five points from a possible nine suggests. But we do have a knack of shooting ourselves in the foot, as we did at Wigan. We need to learn to control games more rather than sitting off and letting the opposition attack us.
Wolves are an unpredictable side. Walter Zenga seems to be winning the fans over and will carry on doing so if the results are positive. But like any club in the Championship, getting that consistent run of results is easier said than done.
As we approach the first West Midlands derby of the season at St. Andrew’s, I’d like to see Blues take the game by the scruff of the neck and really have a good go at them. But I’m going to go for a 1-1 draw.
Here’s Gary Rowett’s pre-match press conference:
Wolves
The big question is whether Walter Zenga will thrust Prince Oniangue straight into the action or adopt a more softly-softly approach with the big midfielder.

If he does play, I can see it being at the expense of Dave Edwards who looked even leggier than usual against Ipswich on Tuesday before being withdrawn at half time.
There have been a lot of combinations in the center of midfield thus far but Lee Evans seems like the constant. I’d like to see him doing a bit more than he is, even in the holding role.
Despite the penalty miss I was again buoyed by Bodvarsson’s display against Ipswich. He gave them a tough time with what little service he received and of course showcased his skillset by winning the spot-kick.
Walter Zenga
Predictions
Things came together nicely at St Andrew’s last season in one of our better team performances. I doubt it will be anything like as routine this time.
I suspect we’ll cause them more problems than we did Ipswich in midweek, but equally, I think they’ll offer more in the final third than the Tractor Boys could muster.
A draw is never a bad prediction in a derby so that’s what I’m going with – 1-1.
If we emerge from this and the game at Huddersfield next Saturday still undefeated, I’ll be very happy with our start to the season.
Up The Wolves!

Always nice to beat the blues, will.keep.it brief going for a draw, cmon the wolves.
Score draw for a tense derby game
Why not go for the win? Let’s win bragging rights.
You can predict if you want mate.
Oh, it didn’t pick it up! I was going to say 0-1 to Wolves. Thomas – can you help? Cheers!
So far this season I have predicted 2 wins and a draw – and I still have zero points. I think the team is on the improve and I am so looking forward when the squad is finalised and all fit. Should be an awesome team. I would love to see the new players on the field at the same time. The likes of Tex, Costa and Prince and presumably Silvio (who nobody seems to mention). I too would settle for a draw but I am going silly again and predict a win 1-0 to us.
A surprise win with prince finding the net.
I have a feeling, but this time not a good one. Hope to be wrong but ……
Really, no idea until the team settles down
Need this win to relly get the season up and running and amongst the top 6. If we want to be thinking of promotion Birmingham City is one of the teams we need to beat home and away..
Going for a Bodvarsson header from a corner and a clincher from Prince who will come off the bench second half
I’d like to see the Salop Pirlo back in our starting line-up. Get that man Price in. Whether he is or isn’t though, I’m backing us for three points.
Tough game coming up, but we’re toughening up with Zenga, becoming hard to beat. We also have more options than last season up front. I sort of expect and won’t be surprised by a derby bore-draw but I think we can nick this one.
They have made a very solid start. Not convinced that much has changed with us yet. (I know some fans dont like negative predictions but i am superstitious and have actually just improved our chances !)
Got to be right sometime.
We are currently unpredictable and untill we hopefully aquire an attacking No5 or a very dominant driving midfielder (Prince?) then we are still a team in progress..
There probably is no better than Zenga tomorrow on the touch line for us in a Derby either ..I’m still hoping for a 30yd knee slide down the touch line..
or a right hook to a player who fouls Texeira ..
This is the difference..give or take a few Mill…
Ice man needs a goal I’m sure he’ll get his chance and Prince is an unknown but I know he’ll be fired up..
Not sure if Dicko is playing but if we attack them from the start then they will crap themselves..
I’m enjoying the fixture More than hoping..
We can perhaps to afford this now as the relentless strategy of Fossun gets only out of second gear..(6 speed box)
COYW and Sako plse..
Could even be a 14 speed if they have a big unit (I used to drive a 14 speed box in my Scania Artic)
Hoping for a great game, but I think we won’t walk away with the points.
Me too Rus – hopefully it wont be as tight as Tuesday night.
COMBs!
As has been commented many times we are a work in progress at the moment, with I feel a fair way to go before we become the team we want.
I would love to see Price and Prince together at Blues but somehow doubt that will happen.
Suspect we are in for a tense derby.
a draw in the first derby won’t be bad, and preserve the unbeaten run..still all about the quality of the performance and developing the team though despite good early signs to be optimistic… it was always going to be a developmental phase.
Predicting another draw-but with the condition that if our new signings (dadi Tex Costa or prince ) perform we can win against an average blues side. COYW
First derby of the season. Wouldn’t it be lovely to get one over those despised bluenoses.
Oniangue to start for me and like many on here would love to see Jack Price start too, but I don’t think he will and I really can’t understand why.
It’s a pity the game has come quite so early in the season before we have finalised our transfer business and Walt has fully imposed his way of doing things. However, I also feel we’ll have enough to see ’em off. Especially enjoyable on their patch.
Ikeme, Iorfa, Baath, Hause, Docherty
Prince, Texiera, Price
Henry, Dadi, Costa
Saville, Evans, Edwards, Mason aren’t anywhere near good enough and shouldn’t be in the team. We saw last season what they’re capable of and it’s not the level required.
New signings required, in order to realistically challenge, which I think they’ll work hard to achieve before Deadline day.
Creativity/Pace/Goals are something we need to add.
The goals will come when Dicko joins Dadi up front. And Prince will of course play part from his attacking role as an attacking midfielder.
Can’t really see past a draw on this one – an away point will be satisfactory.
I believe the Prince will start, and I would really want to see Jack Price start alongside him as our central midfield.
What is interesting in our signings (Benfica exes?) is that they are not throwing money at the situation and looking to strengthen with £2M type purchases and on-loan signings. The 20M Talisca and the even more ludicrous Balottelli-hype being pure media speculation. Until Dicko gets up to speed the need for another striker remains glaring. If we get the Benfica 35yr old captain central defender for 2 seasons I’d be happy, but don’t really see the need for another winger (Ola John.) Any news on Williamson ever getting fit again?
The Jasper Carrott’s must be defeated and they will. Prince will glide through the melle in front of him swat David Davis aside as if he is an annoying wasp and slot the winner in the 82nd minute in fron of the delirious Wolves fans. Incidentally, if you are going tomorrow have your wits about you. The Small Heath Alliance forum (google it) has a couple of ‘anti Doghead’ threads and one of the Blues ‘fans’ is apparently coming up to the city centre pubs before kick off to look for us. Sad. So very sad. I better watch my lager doe go flying then !! FWAW.
And your prediction is? Thanks for the intel mate. Glad I aint gonna be there lol
We’ll blow them out the water
Whoever wears the shirt needs to be up for this match and I’m confident that they will be.
Thomas/Ben,
I am out of the country for a while soon, and may not be able to place my predictions for the matches in September. Can I ask if you could input these for me please:
Sat 10 Sep: Wolves 2 Burton 0
Tue 13 Sep: Wolves 3 Barnsley 0
Sat 17 Sep: Newcastle 1 Wolves 2
Sat 24 Sep: Wolves 2 Brentford 1
Tue 27 Sep: Wigan 1 Wolves 2
Vamos lá me bebês
Now there is an optimist if I ever saw one !!!
I fancy that we can sneak it with a bit of counter attacking – should suit us perfectly.
Possibly our toughest game to date although anything can happen in a derby.
Birmingham away will be our hardest test yet. I am thinking that Prince will be our new Alex Rae, a type of player we have missed and whilst Saville gets stuck in his physical size makes it difficult for him, so I don’t expect Saville to start if Prince does.
I don’t expect Walter has finished with his team building and, as I speak, I undersand that Ola John is having a medical. Another very good signing for us.
Onwards and Upwards we fly !
🙂
Blues have turned into a decent side under Rowett and I think will be hard to beat with a few old Wolves players looking to prove a point.
I’d be happy with a draw but I think Blues will sneak the win.
Won’t be at the game but looking forward to seeing how Prince plays. I thought he was a defensive midfielder but seems he is a box to box attacking player so I would guess he will replace Edwards if he plays.
Noooooooooooo. Not putting an offer in for that Balotelli geezer surely? He wil sooooo upset the dressing room. Don’t need players like him.
Another bore draw on its way
We seem to be associated with every footballer who wants a move.
I hear we have put a bid in for Gareth Bale.
Observing Zenga and Balotelli, in the dressing room at half time, might be an interesting experience.
Above all it is a far more interesting August, Wolves-wise, than I ever imagined at the end of last season.
An away derby draw will be a good result. Keeping the undefeated run going would be a great achievement so early in the season.
I was listening to BBC wm on the drive back after the Ipswich game
Got to respect those blue nose as rowlette has built a team that’s hard to beat . All that said , those fans that made the Tuesday night trip to Wigan were saying Blues got an early goal and not for the first time lately sat back for 45 mins and dropped 2points . Doing that against this wolves midfield could cost them .
Ikeme
Doherty iorfa Batth Coady
Teixeira Price Prince Costa
Ennis Bodvarsson
Subs Any of them, I don’t care, they are bit part players at best.
Tomorrow we will be up for it, play the ball on the ground, run at them, give them no space and win the game.
Wolves 4-0
Come on me babbies, make us proud.
I love your optimism mate. A true fan, speaking from your heart.
Lots of fence sitting on here today, going for the draw.
I will have y’all know that I am The Fenceman, and as such have dibs on anything fence related.
Every other team in this division will soon be quaking in their boots at the prospect of being steamrollered by the juggernaut that is Wolverhampton Wanderers.
What we have seen is just the ice on the tipberg.
More signings, better footballers, new tactics, evolving game plans and adaptations, and positive vibes flowing everywhere.
We are just setting off on the ride of a lifetime.
Hang on folks and enjoy, coz we will not see this again in our lifetime!!
Blues?
Who?
Only one scoreline acceptable
See below
On another note, I notice that the shit word starting with the letter A has been used again in this blog, which is a no no
London, its not Amanduh
FOwb
Ikeme
Coady Iorfa Batth Doherty
Price Oniangue Evans
Mason Bodvarsson Teixeira
Subs: Lonergan, Hause, Edwards, Saville, Wallace, Enobakhare & Ennis.
Tight game but our 3rd clean sheet in a row would be good.
UTW
I hope Prince starts and look forward to seeing what he’s capable of. Had a good laugh reading about the Balotelli rumours, to be honest I’m not sure whether we’d really want him or not.
I can see it being a fairly mediocre draw but I’ll go for a win after a cheeky last minute goal.
(Webmaster, I’m sure you’re probably already aware but the prediction text fields could do with a tabindex please 🙂 )
Would have liked a few more weeks into the season before this one but I think they over achieved a tad last season and are going to be rank mid table this year , have planned an early exit from an evening out tomorrow as this is the first live one for me so home by 9 50 , tv on and watch an edgy first half by both sides , a couple of wally changes and close the game out without too much drama
Blues 0
Wolves 1
You will need to place your predictions in the boxes for them to count Marney.
Or failing that just do all your predictions for the rest of the season and post them on here now.
Wish you could, cos they are just guesses anyway. Unless you cheat.
T F. I found some in my village shop. Shall I bring them to ‘Uddersfield?
That would be nice Brompton ….that’s really kind of you ..thanks … Can’t get to the Udders game tho….
Where you off to then ?
Well, if you aint going to ‘Uddersfield then I aint gonna take them as if I give them to Stu, you will never see them lol.
I can bring them down for the Leeds match on the 22nd Oct but they may have melted by then, especially if I take them to Sri Lanka lol
Talking of Uddersfield there are three mad Bedford Wolves – not me – going to the game.
Their itinerary is as follows;
Leave home 7am
Train from Bedford departs 7.30am
Change at Sheffield
Train to Leeds then change again
Train to Wakefield then change again
Train to Huddersfield arrives 1145am
Return back to Bedford around 1030pm
Home 11pm
Like I said mad, But what devotion.
I will buy them a pint. If they spot me. I will sear my bloggers shirt.
Thanks Thomas. I like your team but would prefer Price in place of Evans.
I appreciate the manager’s analogy to a brick at a time – Pink Floyd anyone? – but hopefully by the end of this month a lot of the blocks will be in place. I’m still excited by the journey we are on.
1- zip and the bus keeps rolling.
Coming back from 0-1 with the Prince pulling the strings on as a sub
Fancy Wolves as a good away side this season not counting relegation certs Rptherham.
My other half disagrees but what does he know ?
Under Walter the defence should become much tighter, that said is he good enough ?
Blues 1 Wolves 3
I hope you are right Amanda. I have been a tad negative I am afraid, and hoping that I am wrong. But this part of the blog is a competition and I am in it to win it so go with my head rather than my heart.
As I said, I hope you are right.
BW I hope I am right too for the sake of all Wolves fans. Love beating Brum especially.
That said it is a competition and a guessing competition at that and even I, would have more faith in your prediction, than my own.
Just felt lucky I suppose
Are you going to Huddersfield?
Congrats you were spot on Amanda. Glad I got mine wrong too lol
Going to stick with clean sheet and I hope better finishing.
Tight one, a little cagey between two similar sides. Draw is never a bad prediction considering, but would be thrilled with more. COYW!!
It will be a bad prediction if they dont draw.
I’d like to see Price start at the expense of Evans, whom have never rated. Hopefully we can sneak a win
Off this topic for a second…..
Great to see that the F@@kin cowards ( hoping to get off with it), who savagely attacked Mr Cruwys have now changed their pleas to Guilty after being pos I’d by cctv.
Please , please in the name of justice and deserved punishment…. Throw the book at them.
Twixfix first of all congratulations being rare in predicting the Ipswich result.
Regarding the vermin who attacked, just an everyday football fan leaving him near death, I totally agree with you and thank you for your positive Wolves fan comment.
The attack had nothing to do with the people and fans of Wolverhampton, the city, the club or football itself but the vermins need for violence.
They had bullying power, in the safety of numbers but will not have that in their prison cells.
Not only did they ruin the Cruwys family, as Nick will always suffer from those serious injuries, they did so much damage to their own lives and for what ?
Every career/employment,mortgage and insurance application for some considerable time, they will be continuously frustrated answering ‘the Criminal Coviction’ sections.
What is probably even more sad, today on social media despite two weeks of eye witness and thorough police evidence, is that Nick Cruwys deserved the kicking.
These Wolves supporters of the guilty men,and there are many, have been spreading lies and misinformation ever since the attack, that Creuwys was a convicted hooligan who arranged the whole meeting. Even having heard no such confirmation from the court they still persist and are unfortunately despicable lowlife themselves.
Proof is their fight continuing outside St Andrews tomorrow, whether women and children are present or not. They only care fot the booze and violence. Wolves heroes ?????
ugly draw but another point
last time I went to Blues I got a piece of concrete through my rear window…it was aimed at the mounted cop next to my car…he looked down at me and shrugged
hate that place
the teams we’ve played so far weren’t the best, Birmingham may be better, but we’re improving and I think we can win, Jon Dadi to score at least one goal.
Zenga will play Price if he wants, and Prince when he’s ready, maybe not to start tomorrow, but will be a massive improvement in the midfield. Not sure about Ola John, was he any good at Reading. (that’s ‘redding’) not ‘reading) .
Well, M62 tent Brompto, AKA Chalkie the cheat, if you are more interested in cheating your way to another hotly disputed “win” in the otherwise friendly prediction league, just so you can have another rotund t shirt made, then may I all so very politely suggest you stay in Sri Lanka, and watch cricket.
You lost me completely Clive. I have not got a clue what you are on about. Please explain.
Time for Mr zenga to get some more players in! I think he will realise the true problems he faces after this.
Being a disciple of the motto, ‘horses for courses’ I’m going for a win by the odd goal because over the years we have had a pretty good record at Small Heath. I still dream about the Doog’s best ever goal in a 1-0 win in the early 70’s- a 25 yard rocket from outside the right corner of the box with his right, yes right, foot!
Birmingham 0 Wolves 2…..no sweat
A quick look back to previous encounters at St Andrews
1966/67 Blues 3 Wolves 2. (Bailey, Wagstaffe) Div. 2
This was one of the first away games I was allowed to go to – albeit with a load of schoolmates. I can remember catching the Don Everall “Sedgley” coach on the Red Lion car park in Sedgley Bull Ring. Excitement reigned as you may well imagine guys.
As I recall it was a captivating game that ebbed and flowed in the mid-winter mud so common in those days (remember Derby….).
Blues actually did the double over Wolves but of course we went on to win promotion with Coventry City.
1972/73 Blues 0 Wolves 1 (Dougan) Div. 1
Blues had won promotion the previous season and nearly 44,000 turned out for this encounter played mid-week as the original fixture just before Christmas was postponed due to a blizzard.
Dougan continued his fine run of scoring (he netted 5 in 3 games) as Wolves completed the double over Blues. 72/73 remains one of my all-time favourite seasons with Dougan and Richards netting 53 goals between them – must do a season review one day.
1973/74 Blues 2 Wolves 1 (Richards) Div.1
Dougan and Richards again had a good season scoring 37 goals between them with Johnny boy scoring in this fixture.
With Blues battling relegation and Wolves not quite finding the league heights of the previous season, it was a pretty tense affair. Blues won with goals from Trevor Francis and Kenny Burns sealing their first victory of the season at the 12th attempt.
Off the pitch fighting along the terraces was endemic (no change there then) and a Blues fan was given medical assistance with a dart in his neck……
1975/76 Blues 0 Wolves 1 (Carr) Div.1
This really was a relegation “4 pointer” game as both teams were scrapping at the wrong end of the old first division table. Wolves were on a particularly poor run having won 2 out of 12 but strengthened their resolve to carve out a narrow victory. However we still went down with Blues finishing one place above us.
Season 1992/93 Blues 0 Wolves 4 (Roberts 3, Downing) Div.2
A Sunday televised fixture as thousands of Wolves fans crammed into the Tilton End to witness a first half goal feast.
Darren Roberts (making his debut in the absence of Bully?) score a memorable hat trick as Blues were put to the sword. It was heady stuff.
True tale – I was perched on the Tilton Terrace on a ledge above the milling throng. Right next to me was some geezer smoking a pipe emitting a fog of pungent Atlantic Shag or St Bruno ready rubbed– as I raised my arms to celebrate the first goal I inadvertently knocked his pipe up so his bottom lip jutted outwards and as I brought my arm downwards I knocked the pipe downwards so his top lip jutted out. This promptly sent the pipe catapulting out of his gob and sent red hot embers all over the celebrating Wolves fans – cue cinders on hair and necks and over tops with much cursing and wondering where the fuck the firestorm was coming from. The pipe stem broke…..
I quickly made myself scarce as the pipe smoker had no idea what was happening in the melee. Hope he ain’t reading this…….
Season 2008/09 Blues 2 Wolves 0 Championship
Ten men Blues closed the gap table topping Wolves with this gritty victory in front of an incredibly partisan crowd. How do I know? Well with 3 others we sat in the home end and it was mmmm… how I can I put it an “enlightening experience”.
I was a guest of Corus Steel (Wednesfield) and our hospitality seats were literally amongst the lunatics. Remember that song by the immortal Stealers Wheel Gerry Rafferty “Clowns to the left of me – jokers to the right – here I am stuck in the middle with you” well that summed it up perfectly. There were other Wolves fans around us who watched the second half on TV in the hospitability area.
McCarthy played Marlon Harewood as a replacement for SEB who was injured – as was Kightly – and then dirty twat Carsley was sent off for a foul on Iwelumo who was stretchered off.
The sending off galvanised Blues and they scored an extremely controversial goal on the stroke of half time. Their second goal was scored at our end and as the Blues fans went berserk we sat there in stony silence.
I was really surprised at Wolves lack of fight (that’s what was needed in this atmosphere which was white hot) as it was pointless trying to display any sort of skilful football as Blues were in yer face from the first minute.
Anyway we still went up as champs!!
Summary – head to head
Wolves won 62
Birmingham won 39
Make that 63 tomorrow guys.
Have a great weekend bloggers.
BOG
It was Old Holborn in me pipe you bastard,
Ha ha ha brilliant Dave.
Thought I recognised you….
Going for all 3 points and 3 goals. No clean sheet this time though.
I’d steer well clear of Balotelli, BUT Walter Zenga must be one of his heroes! One of the few he’d take a bollocking from. Walter loves his players and Mario needs a lot of love…
A dire game on Tuesday, let’s see if we got that “bounce back ability” everybody talks about.
Not impressed with the Blues so far this season so a result is on the cards for me. As for Balotelli just can’t see it happening at all.
Narrow win for me. New signings in sooner rather than later please!
Come on Wolves
I think we will just sneak this one.
Can’t wait for the window to close so all these daft rumours will stop – repeated ad nauseam as each site scans every other one for material. Draw seems likely for a derby, but this is no ordinary season, so why shouldn’t we manage a win?
Over the last 4 seasons Prince has scored 9 goals (2 bookings), 10 goals (1 booking), 3 goals (6 bookings) and most recently 4 goals (3 bookings). Be interesting to see what job he is given. Maybe he’s been used more as a defensive midfielder recently ? Will Zenga continue with that or ask him to revert to a more attacking role ?
Anyway, us to win !
Never want to predict a defeat so will go for a 2 nil win
After Tuesday night..
Better players urgently needed…
BOG
You really need to get out more, instead of writing history books!!
Score draw for me. The prince to score on his debut.
Depends which team turns up, the ‘going for it’ team that played Reading or the ‘pass it back team’ that played Ipswich. Dave looked far from ‘Dangerous’ of late so surely will be replaced with Price who must have been disappointed to lose his place on Tuesday. Prince to provide fresh legs late on. Draw written all over this one.
Hi Clive –
yes you are probably right I should never have packed up work.
Plus I live in the past – my missus will vouch for that in my dress sense…
what …still wearing flairs and a Parker coat….
Hello Twix
Yes 63 years old now but 40+ years ago it was – Parka coat, Ben Sherman shirts (with the button down collar and back crease of course), braces (trousers not teeth), Levi two tones, brogues (for the date) Cherry Red Dr Martins ( for the match), Harrington jackets, Crombie, cheesecloths, cords with 2″ waist band and 30″ waist (fuck me those WERE the days) – I looked a right twat -still do frankly…ask Bedford Wolf – he was talking about you on Tuesday evening – in glowing terms of course.
Club Lafayette Wolverhampton, Wigan Casino, Torch at Stoke, Blackpool Mecca (top floor), Top Of the World Stafford,
and the daddy of all dance records – Out on the floor – Dobie Gray.
BOG
I tick most of those boxes myself BOG mate ….I bet most of us crossed paths in the Laff, the Catacombs or the TOTW without knowing each other…CFH included……really canny …..
I must get in touch with Dave… I can speak glowingly about him too…… Top Blokes you lot..
Dunno about you but it seems like yesterday when we were donning our glad rags for a Friday or Saturday night out in the early 1970’s.
Dave Bedford Wolf mentioned the Bloggers Ball in May and what a time was had by all.
Hopefully I will be able to come along at season end to share a few tales
and quaff a few sherbets. Celebrating promotion of course!
BOG
If we play Zoff Baresi Facchetti Maldini and Cannavaro at the back and Totti Del Piero and Balotelli upfront linked by Coady Evans and Edwards we should come out with a 0 0
Still not a ton of offense until more new arrivals
Sticking with my losing formula! A score draw for me but not sure Brompton’s got any chance of retaining his title this season.
Hard on the heels of Twixfix’s spot on 0-0 prediction against the tractor boys, unconfirmed pre match sightings of him dishing out bulging brown envelopes to MM & WZ have been reported!!!
You’ll get me a bad name Scooped mate.
I’m with you on this one ….. a fair few goals but shared equally I’m afraid….
Could be a real test after the disappointment of Tuesday,A draw looks the likely result but I going for a narrow win 1-0.
Hoping the Prince gets the nod and maybe add a goal from midfield or defence where ever he plays.
However the game pans out I just hope we don’t lose.its gonna be tough.UTW…..
Just got a feeling we’ll slip up here.
Need some more signings soon.
Constantly optimistic but playing away from home in a derby can sometimes swing in the away teams favor, and i can’t see past that with the way blues set up at home. FWAW! I need a cuddle
Tight defence plus Prince as substitute will give us the win. I guess our key players will manage to stay unmarked and contribute according to their potential.
Errrrrrrrmmmmm…….
God knows!?
The introduction of the Prince will surely add more quality, and I think the players will have more freedom to play than they did on Tuesday. I think they may be a bit fresher too.
Still, Tuesday was a reminder that we still have a lot to do (get rid of) so the game against Blues will not be straightforward.
My predictions have been absolutely crap so far but I’m going for an optimistic 2-1 win for the ZENGA BOYS.
Usual doubts. Usual nerves. Usual head in the clouds hope for a good win. Here’s hoping the Prince looks as good as he does on YouTube.
Just got back from a day’s photography in a hotel in Lyme Regis.
Knackered and in need of a cold Guinness.
Wolves to win.
Sounds stressful.
OH! Luvvy, I can’t tell you.
The things I do for my profession!
What was her name?
And have you posted the pics to a dodgy website yet, or are they purely for personal viewing?
I mean, a days ‘photography’, in a seaside hotel room, and you’re knackered???
You mean what were ‘their’ names!
I remember two of them but the three who joined in later were just hotel guests I think.
Photography (he asked knowingly)? Snap, snap, grin, grin, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more.
Say no more, say no more,
Got any photos of your wife in the nude squire?
Say no more, say no more,
No !
Do you want to buy some squire.
Know what I mean, know what I mean.
Really.
You can’t keep the old ones down, as the two actresses said to The man masquerading as a bishop (Mr Doogooder). Nudge nudge, wank wank
Come on you Wolves….being a wolves fan from brum isn’t easy let me tell you!!!
It ll be worth it tomorrow gazmadd
So far my predictions have amassed a big fat zero so I will go for
Blues 3. Wolves 0.
And just hope my prediction run continues.
You have yo place it in the boxes for it to count mate
Thanks Brompton, perhaps that’s the reason why I have no points. I should of gone to spec savers, the boxes are there… What a plank.
If we can get off to a good start and score early, we could give the Blues a scare
Good start and an early goal and Birmingham bottle it in the second half as normal.
I’m thinking this will see us keeping amother clean sheet and winning by a couple :
Still no idea what to expect. I’ve seen the 2 home games and haven’t been impressed so far. hoping for a improved performance but cn only see a draw.
Forgot to say the score earlier but fuckin Prince to get late winner. Well not Prince as in purple fuckin rain an eveythin but the Prince of the golden palace.
A really interesting insight into Mendes and his network of clubs and players. Interesting but also a bit scary…
https://twitter.com/ToasterWolves/status/766743222043500544?s=09
Hope he plays Oniangue .. Would love to see him paired with Price .. So long as Coady can play a defensive midfield role .. And Saville and Evans are left on the bench .. Could turn out to be a great afternoon .. I am all aboard Walter’s Bandwagon .. So going large ..
Scrape it, especially since my son in law is a bluenose.
I was cut by a 10p piece thrown at me, many years ago, courtesy of a blues fan.
Real kudos when I went to school on the Monday though!!
Must have been an upper class bluenose.
They usually only throw pennies.
Last time I went to the blues ground they tipped hot tea on us from the upper tier of the stand. On the way out they threw stones and coins at our fans who included families with children. Outside the ground they tried to ambush us again until the local plod managed to stop them.
Shit ground – scum fans. They will never get another penny of my money!!!
A hard fought draw
Good to see another new member of the squad added. Prince seems like a very dedicated individual. Can’t wait to see the kid play.
Shame on me but I just don’t fancy this one so i’m going to go for the reverse.
Interesting to see who starts and how we play.
Bore draw. Blue noses to make it as drab as possible. Hopefully Bully comes on late for the winner.
A draw seems the most likely outcome so I’m going for a 3-3 thriller.
Prediction from Wolf in Devon not Devon Wolf???
The usual scoreline is on the cards. Another tough game hopefully see the prince at some point
I’ve woken up optimistic this morning. Going for a 2-1 win with goals from Bodvarsson and Prince.
UTW
I remember Wolves v Birmingham in 1954 when as a lad you sat around the ground on the wall. Gil Merrick was in goal for Bham, and Bert Williams in goal for Wolves. 5 mins to kick off, with one hand holding the goal post whilst they were having shots in, the police would come round, and say “turn round lads”. We had to turn with our legs hanging over the north bank wall so that if the ball struck us, the crowd would catch us. oh those 50,000 crowd days. Anyway that was. Small insight into health and safety in those days
Try this prediction again
Lol. You only need to put your score in each respective box
Thinking more positive today, going for a wolves 3 blues 1 win with the Icelandic clap being performed twice and mason with the other.
I should not have advised you on where to place your prediction seeing as you got 3 points lol.
Well done mate.
We always seem to get it wrong against blues. I’m hoping today is different due to having a load of blues fans what are dying to give me some grief
Head says a draw, heart says a win…you know the drill.
It was far to easy for Ipswich to nullify us on Tuesday so you would expect blues to learn from that, this game as probably come a month to early so hoping I’m wrong I think blues will nick it.
Another tight game I reckon but I’ll go with us to nick it.
From France all about the Prince age 27 worth about £2 million on a good day.
Like the Solbakken days players that cost about the same,Siggy, Boukari,Tongo Doumbia and Sako.
Lets just hope he is a Sako performer.

Did I see on the wolves website some 10 minutes highlights of the Ipswich match, can`t believe there were that many. However I`d love to watch some highlights of my black & gold heroes winning in Birmingham, and as we are looking relatively secure defensively, I`m predicting a 2-0 win, because for me the glass is always half full.
Eleven days for some badly needed new recruits,
I’m getting increasingly concerned about us being linked with Balotelli.
The last thing we need is another divisive presence in the dressing room.
There are going to be enough teething troubles with the new foreign players settling in amongst the old lags without adding to them with a proven poo stirrer.
Cheer up ol’ chap – at least it’s not Joe Hart we’re linked with.
Think of the headlines – Wolves won from the hart, played their hart out etc.
Don’t rate him at all. More likely the headlines would be “Wolves hart done by Accrington Stanley” haha.
Balotelli… haven’t heard about him since the last WC at least. I’m sharing DOOG’s opininion on him – too much ego to stomach. Meh.
Think it will be tough. I’d be happy with a score draw.
2-0 the Wolves enough said COYW
Would prefer to see Evans out of midfield. Seemingly gets a chance at the start of every season. He must be good in training.
To sneak a win would be ideal esp away from home.
We know Zenga will change tactics if needed but let’s hope for a Reading performance rather than Ipswich.
COYW and lets get Sako
Price is starting today.. hoping he takes his chance!!
COTW we have a good record here let’s build on it
I did say in a previous blog that I thought that it would be the end of September before we could judge what kind of a season we might have. By this time the clubs supposed 8 newcomers would have had a chance to “bed in”.
However, we are getting nearer to the close of the transfer window and although the media and rumour sites have linked us to all sorts of targets, there has not been much to report.
We are now entering into our 3rd league match of the season with largely a team that failed us so much last season. I hope we are not going to be disappointed at the outcome.
I also hope that i am proved wrong with todays prediction of a defeat.
There again – what do i know!!!!!
Its our 4th league match of the season Brizzie and stop being depressingly negative.
So much regarding new players has and is going on.
Yes the team is largely the failures of last year still but if you have,nt heard.
Wolves is ‘Under New Management’
Noted A. C. Thank you for reminding me that Wolves is “Under New Management”. I must have missed that!!!! (doh)
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesss ! get in !
Absolutely f*cking brilliant!!!
WALTER ZENGA’S BARMY ARMY!!!!
Take that you dirty Bluenose scumbags!!!
Got to be happy with that result. Just think what the score could have been had we taken our chances. 18 shots with 7 on target. I was totally wrong, but don’t care if we do this!
Guess the score to go 2nd in the league Wolves 3 Brum 1 as I predicted a womans intuition.
As Kylie sings ‘I should be so lucky, lucky lucky lucky’.
I said congrats against your earlier post Amanda. We are 3rd as Huddersfield won to go top. Great result and don’t care if I predicted wrong if we win like this.
Yahoo, the Baggies lost which makes it even better.
Thanks BW for the correction.
Still exciuted that words cannot describe my happiness BUT NUMBERS CAN.
1…..2…..3
What a result that is for us this early into the season.
WOW.
Wolves win at Blouses and Sandwell Shadow Dwellers lose at home! Doesn’t get much better than that eh?
Bring on Luisao, bring on Ola John, bring on Assombalonga, Christ even bring on Mario bleeding Balotelli!
Coady – berated by many on here but championed by some (ok then by me) – for Man of The Match?
Stu told me that we have Cameron Borthwick lef back from Man Utd and Brannigan – midfielder from Liverpool had medicals and signing on Monday.
For gods sake, how am I supposed to win the prediction league when we turn in a performance like that. Starting to feel like a happy wolves fan though.
Anyone STILL missing Kenny Jackett?
I forecast a 1-0 win for us but I’m even happier at 3-1. Zenga has Jackett’s old team playing out of their socks. What a difference a different coach can make! This is just the start as new players will be phased in gradually. Zenga will have problems in working out who to move on!
Great result, good performance as well. Still to early to judge Zenga but as starts go this isn’t bad.
As for those knocking Jackett those of us who remained faithful always said there was the kernel of a good team there, we were just missing that one or two bits of quality to turn it into a good side. For example we were screaming out for the funds to buy a decent striker, the bod looks to be that player.
Mason, Wallace and coady looked great today all jackett signings. Zenga is building on a decent if not spectacular squad. Jackett did ok for a man with no funds.
I hear you, but Jacket did not manage to get them to play as well as Zenga has. Same players, now playing better .
I absolutely agree with you . People who say we’ve not played good attacking football for ages must not have attended any of our record breaking div one promotion games
Kenny jackett was a good wolves manager and I’m sure with funds he could have proved himself .
That , however, was then and this is now .. Sheffield mate .., this feels like different gravy to me . I think we are seriously on the rise at last
We should be magnanimous in victory. Thanks for turning up blues. Better luck next time. ( hahahahahaha )
Wolves now move 63 wins!!!!
Excellent guys – forecast right -score slightly awry.
So SO happy on this Saturday evening!!
Just gonna demolish sausage and mash with a Boddingtons and glass of reds.
Did someone mention the shit losing at the Handsworth hovel?
Oh yes – double celebration tonight. Makes me wish I was still living up there and working in the BC.
At 1 0 down I feared the worst but a mate text to say Wolves were the better team by a mile and expect at least a draw. Oh me of little faith…
Have a great Saturday night and Sunday bloggers –
Actually looking forward to watching Channel 5 tonight. Not a sentence I often use.
Only 1 new signing playing (2 with prince but he must of been a ghost)
Zenga is getting more out of KJs squad by m o t i v a t i o n
Fantastic result joint 2nd in league.
Happy Sunday mornings..
Love your joint 2nd view. Can’t wait to start singing We are top of the league……… and based on our results I guess it wont be long
Excellent result!
Finlandia vodka is always great but tastes 100 times better now. Cheers!
Cheers Vladimir – enjoy your vodka
Have a great evening
Still in brum. Great loff on way down digbeth taunting the blue scum. They could only get a mob up of about 10 by dubliner. Shite fuckers.
Great win!
I am as chuffed as a bowl of badger’s fat!
Damn that bodvarrson .. Nearly got my prediction
Looks like a young defender
( man Utd U 21 player of the season last season) ‘ Cameron bothwick Jackson ‘
Is coming to wolves for a season long loan
I don’t know of him it but apparently he s highly rated .
Well done the lads today !,
Fabulous result that
After what was witnessed on Tuesday night this result is quite a shock..
But what a result… Dreamland…
Saturday nights like this are for drinking back loads of Ale….
Not sure what it is but this bloke Zenga has something…
Well done all at Wolves..
One of tne best results in my old memory banks, Their goal came completely out of the “Blues” we were definitely up for it til that kick in the gonads. Took a while to settle back down but got there. I dont know WTF Walter says to them at half time but they came out lopike a 6 year old after the ice cream man, bloody transformed. Everyone on this blog must have seen Masons goal, but from the terraces OMG, St Andrews erupted, from then on in tne Wolves fans were out of this world. FFS I even gave Jen de Wold a hug when Bodvarsson scored.
I then witnessed something Iv’e not seen in my 55 years supporting Wolves 15 minutes before the end Blouses were undone and the tits were sagging out of the ground, when Bodvarsson scored with about 5 minutes to play there was an exodus, I have never seen anything like it, there must have been only 300 Undone Blouses lsft in the entire ground, a disgrace, shame on you Blouses, you left us no fecker to take the piss out of.
Talking of undone blouses and the tits out in the ground, we’ve got Uddersfield next shout. Can’t bloody wait.
Lazy Sunday Afternoon
I got no time to worry
Close my eyes and drift away
Well done the boys.
Thank you Fosun.
