At 9.30pm, the perfect storm had gathered.

A blackening performance, a damning consequence and a walk of shame towards 1,000 enraged away fans.
‘Typical of Barnsley to put the tunnel there,’ you could imagine Karl Henry saying.
A relentless hail of verbal missiles pierced the chill air, fired with more venom than a frontline soldier.
The imposters kept their heads down, perfecting the art of ignorance as if it were a Compton training ground drill.
Just like their roles on the pitch, none of them – bar Danny Batth – were prepared to front up and take it.
Their passive acceptance was as telling as the faces of Doyle, Johnson and Ward, who swaggered in their bubbles of immunity.
Tellingly, those three faces were the only ones smiling during our pitiful surrender, sniggering in their tracksuits when they were supposed to be getting loose.
Jason Scotland, meanwhile, warmed up properly.

In a six pointer that assumed seminal proportions, young Jack Robinson made his debut.
Three minutes before kick-off, Johnson was sauntering around an empty pitch (with Davis) instead of being where he should have been…
…Next to the youngster in the changing room offering words of encouragement.
It’s bad enough having players that aren’t good enough. It’s something else entirely when they believe they’re actually too good in the first place.
More worrying than an endless losing habit is that after 33 games, 16 defeats and a bottom three position, some of these players still genuinely think they’re above all this frivolous nonsense.
Dave Edwards was one, shirking his responsibilities like a failed Sunday League bully, blaming Batth for the first goal because he’s a new kid on the block.
Karl Henry was another, backing up none of his pre-match words with a sterile performance that stank of complacency.
And in Kevin Foley, we saw a player who refused to sprint to take a throw-in when the fourth official was loitering.

The most galling thing of all was the feckless surrendering of a great advantage we’d seized.
We flew out the blocks for the first 10 minutes and scored a belting goal through Sigurdarson, who looked unplayable both as a target man and a ‘striker on the shoulder.’
Yet as soon as he broke the deadlock via the menacing Sako, Dean Saunders pushed him into midfield to isolate the previously lively Ebanks Blake.
It was a decision to typify this entire season. Weak, subservient and completely unfathomable to the naked eye.
With the initiative lost, the game would go the same way. David Edwards didn’t challenge for the first and Kevin Foley went AWOL for the second.
When Dean Saunders was appointed on January 7, Steve Morgan enthused that he had more energy than the National Grid.
Forty days later and with the nuclear fall-out flying, he couldn’t even lift his head.

As ever the most telling and perceptive account of the gold and black shambles Ben. Thank you for expressing our suffering so eloquently. Have been back home for a month and can hardly believe how things have deteriorated. I’m heading for the hills.
Thanks Highland. I’d like to head for the hills myself. My season ticket is millstone around my neck though!
You’re not coming over here!!!!
Why, why did he pull Siggi back and 6 minutes he gave Cassidy 6 minutes I’m speeches a lot of you might be pleased about that, 6 minutes ………………………………………………………..6 minutes…………….
I’ve been saying for weeks 2 up front and it was working so what does Saunders do goes back to 1 up front moves Siggi to the wing and takes away our best attacker makes him useless may as well of stood on the side lines and watched they game. What really galling is it was working, this is tipical do Saunders trying not to lose at all costs smacks of McCarthys last days lets hope there Saunders last days as well give the job to the tea lady a ball boy anyone with a bit of common sense, my 4 year old daughter could do a better job, by the way I’m changes my name from Paul featherstone to 6 minutes for Cassidy.
I see the PR machine has turned to ex players. Matt Muurray in tonight’s Express & Star back page headline quote ” the players care ” . Matt your a great lad and was a great keeper but please don’t get involved in M and M ‘ s warped mind games. My brother was a the Leiscester game and yes the fans were giving Ward stick because he was playing crap and not making an effort and the fans told him as much so he turned round and made a gesture with a smile on his face. Ward again and Johson at Barnsley sniggering when they should of been warming up focusing on game encouraging younger players. These players have done very well out of Wolves and what ever happens from here on in will probably never have to work again, they’ll find other clubs less money oviously but what about those people that will lose there jobs, cleaners, corporate hospitality staff, admin staff tell the player to go and tell them they care. Matt don’t get embroiled in M &M’s mess they will only drag you down with them and I would hate to see that happen.
Also wolves looking for a striker, TRY LOOKING ON THE SUBS BENCH no I’m not going to say his name, but it begins with a C and ends in a y DEAN
Chickens home to roost.
So many bad decisions made in the interests of exactly who?
We could list them but we all know what and who they are….
We are in free fall …experience required but that costs.
The disgraced will be discussing with agents to go out on loan.
Rats will leave the sinking ship
The shambles is complete.
Not yet AlfWhite, not yet indeed. Worse before it gets better I’m afraid. Batth, Siggy, Zeli (somehow) and Cassidy to lead us to survival.
So. Much. Misery.
Saunders is a clown, needs to go immediately but it will be done when he loses these next three games.
If I was Morgan I’d spend the next two weeks sweet talking Nigel Adkins
Louise, I really don’t think that Sir Alex could turn this bunch around. I think they’ve just given up and don’t care. Losing has become a way of life or game of life for them. It’s ok to lose now, what do I really care. Still getting my paycheck in my bank account each week.
Don’t know what to say anymore, except to say we are going down.
Also I’m starting to have my doubts about DS.
Morgan is a disgrace, never backs any manager, I genuinely believe that he and the club have no money to spend, where has it all gone that’s anyone’s guess.
The players are a shambles, my personal opinion is it started to go all wrong when Johnson joined the club, from that moment on the rot started to set in. Although I can’t blame him for the lack of investment by Morgan, he is the sort of character that could easily upset the dressing room, but by the looks of the current players body language and attitude we have more than one bad apple, more like half a dozen or so.
Ain’t going to mention Moxey, he’s just Morgans lap dog. No the real problem starts at the top and that’s Morgan.
I don’t know how this season can get worse, I’ve already accepted relegation so that can’t be it. I won’t be visiting the Mol again until Morgan and Moxey have either gone or sorted out the mistakes they have made. We have a squad that don’t deserve to play football again at any level. No chance our only few decent players will want to stay and help out next season that means Ikeme, Hennessey, Sako, Batth and Siggy are all goners and we get to keep the shit that put us where we are because nobody else will want them. Moxey will trim the wage bill by selling the wrong players. Have they got it written in the contracts to accept another relegation wage drop? We need a buyer quick and we need to force a sale. Protests need to be organised now!! If you must go to the games boycott the new stand next year. No early bird sales for Moxey. I’ll be happy to help out any efforts at protest I can without entering that ground. Any other suggestions?
For those who haven’t got the message yet, this club is going to be relegated and that is financial Armageddon. It has got beyond whether Johnson is better than Batth or whether Ward is a poor left back. When relegated this club will have a wage bill beyond its ability to pay. And the players are on contracts that you have to pay. So the club will be bankrupt and have to go into administration. But the players will still have rights to have their contracts paid up – just like Porstmouth. And no one will want to take any of these players on because none of them is capable of making a living playing football and they will never again have the opportunity to earn 15K a week. 40 players on an average of say 12K per week. Thats ½ a million per week. 25 million a year. Where are a league one club going to get that kind of income ?
It’s over. You all need to find another club to support because this one won’t be there by September.
As for the comments about the player’s attitude at Barnsley, you have to remember they are mercenaries. They don’t care about Wolves – only about the wages which they get paid win or lose. You will see this when they are asked to give up their contract rights to save the club and refuse to.
As for any thoughts that they might survive – 6 wins from last 13? Well from 12 really cause there’s no chance against Cardiff on Sunday. No chance of survival.
Wouldn’t be nice if one, just one, player come out now and said (and looked) sorry. But they all think it’s someone else’s fault not theirs.
I love this club. I dream of European nights against Juventus. 3 own goals by Ado the Hague. Richards and Gray scoring in the league cup finals. Losing to Chorley and the Bull revival. It’s great History but there will be no more chapters. It’s over. Close the book and bind it up, put it on the shelf alongside Bradford PA (thanks for Ken Hibbitt guys). I can’t type any more, I can’t see the screen through the tears. If only anyone at the club cared as much.
Your thoughts is mind boggeling and actually a wake up call to me.. You are right – the club is a financial sinking ship. The butterfly effect of the series of bad administrative decisions have gone too far to reverse.
was it morgans plan for this to happen? cos hes singlehandedly allowed it if not caused it.. you speak for me and i am so gutted¬!!
Pferdepferde,
You hit the nail on the head. It’s disgusting what’s happening. I bet with all these comments posted and the shear hatred for both Moxey and Morgn they must be pooping their undies at some point. Our fans like anyone else’s are passionate about their club. You pay good, hard earned money to watch good professional football and some how, pixie and Dixie have forgotten that. Absolutely taking everyone for a ride. They are SO arrogant they believe its their god given right that the little people should continue to watch such poor performances every weekend. If it were me, I would be ashamed and do the right thing and step down but I believe Morgan won’t sack Moxey because Moxey is unethical in his business practices with money. I’m confident that one or both of these two knuckleheads will end up on fraud charges.
I don’t think we’re in the same boat as Portsmouth. They we’re in millions of debt in the Premier League (after seeing Kevin Prince Boateng and Suli Muntari score for Milan against Barca you can see why!). When they got relegated the good players left and they were screwed. We’re not in debt. I don’t think we should worry about the financials at the club, no matter how much Jez is a cock, he’s running a tight ship. Players will be released / sold if we are relegated and any new players will be paid naff all.
And, we dont have any good players!!
I don’t see who will pay the wages these players get now except premiership sides and none of those will want our players. They will all sit tight and insist on contracts being paid off in full -like Moyukolo. Wages becomes an impossible drain on the cashflow.
quote from todays daily Tele. :
Last month there was little spending to shake up the squad and Wolves could be left counting the cost, for the financial ramifications for relegation do not bear thinking about.
I’m not alone in my fears
I’ve seen enough of Saunders to realise that he’s out of his depth. His decisions are terrible and his tactics don’t work. Take he hard work away and we have nothing. Then again, he’s quickly fallen in line with the other bad decision maker at the club – Steve Morgan.
I don’t see where Wolves can go from here except downwards. I hate to see this happening; like all fans. I shall not be attending Molineux again this season and I don’t want to read another comment from the likes of Dave ‘what’s the point of me?’ Edwards, Karl ‘I’m a Wolves fan – honest’ Henry, Kevin ‘I’m the next Dennis Irwin’ Foley or Stephen ‘best leftback ever’ Ward. Actually, I don’t want to hear another peep out of the club unless it’s Morgan selling up to someone who knows how to run a football club and isn’t going to create another ‘us vs them’ scenario.
Very dark times at Wolves.
A message to Sir Jack you saved us once you can do it again we argued fell out a fought and we both said and did things we shouldn’t of but we have one over riding passion and love and that is Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club we need you and the club needs you one more Tim then if you want fined a decent buyer, im sure you thought you had but his heart and money are not in it
Great write-up mate. Can’t add much to that.
I’ll have a stab at some player ratings:
Ikeme – left exposed for the goals, but handled well throughout and at 1-0 admirably tried to time-waste to see us home – 7
Foley – poor throughout, spooning crosses, backing off from attackers and generally plodding his way through 90 minutes. Fully-fledged member of the finger-pointing brigade – 3
Batth – couldn’t cope with the strength and power of Marlon Harewood. Arguably at fault for allowing a midget to head their equaliser. But you could see he was one of few putting everything in – 5
Gorkks – started off very well, winning headers and spraying passes out wide. But along with Batth, made Harewood look like Drogba – 5
Robinson – pick of the defenders. Bombed forward throughout the first half and looked top class. But struggled second half as Wolves were penned in – 7
Edwards – awful, carthorse performance. Seemed to be everywhere but nowhere. Passes shelled out of play and clearances rebounding back off him throughout. Another finger pointer – 3
Henry – played within himself and didn’t look bothered. Not nearly enough effort from a player that’s in the team to give us bite – 4
O’Hara – he’s the only midfielder we have who can actually pass the ball. Looked classy in the first half and was desperately unlucky to see a sublime curling shot come back off the underside of the bar. Withdrawn in the second half as the game began to pass him by. Terrible decision from Saunders though as Henry/Edwards/Davis offered nothing. O’Hara could have made something happen – 6
Sako – a class above any other player on the pitch. Could have won us the game in the first half. The Barnsley defenders didn’t know what to do with him. Final ball (aside from goal assist) was generally poor though, shooting when he should have passed and vice versa. Over hit the corner we had in the dying seconds, which was another kick in the nuts. Still our best player though and by a distance – 7
Sigurdarson – as Ben states in the report, unplayable for the first 15-20 minutes. Showed pace and power to latch onto Sako’s through ball and then composure to round keeper and slot home. Won headers, ran in behind and scared the life out of the Barnsley back four. Ineffective down the right and asked to defend for 90% of his time there. Went back up top in the second half and missed a good chance, which he’d done well to craft – 7
SEB – the only class of 2008 player to emerge with credit. One of his better performances of late, particularly in the first half, getting in behind, bringing others into play and giving their defence problems. Isolated and ineffective second half though – 6
SUBS
Davis – did nothing. Flawed logic from Saunders bringing him on.
Hammill – surprised to see him on the bench and even more surprised to see him get on the pitch. Did nothing, but things had already caved in by the time he was introduced.
Cassidy – no time to do anything.
MANAGER
Team selection was sound and first 20 minutes were as good as anything we’ve seen this season. Problem is he wants to defend and eek out narrow victories when we get ahead and this team simply aren’t capable. We should have stayed 442 even when Barnsley began to threaten because we were still giving as good as we got and would probably have scored again. Pushing Siggy back into midfield let them off the hook defensively and handed them the initiative to bomb forward at will. His use of substitutions is also concerning. Taking O’Hara off (again) was a grave error. Once Barnsley got a stranglehold, he didn’t have an answer.
Agree with most of your assessments of the players. A bit harsh on Batth who had another good game. Also generous on O’Hara l thought for a player of his ability he is sloppy with his passing. Can’t understand why Peszco is not starting. Also can’t understand what has happened to Foley who use to be our most consistent performer. There is also little back up in this area now Zubar has gone. Also agree Cassidy should have come on a lot earlier if not started. At least he looks like a centre forward! Major plus was Robinson who must now start ahead of Ward. I think the Doncaster fans were right about DS, not too disappointed when he left!
Lot of people on here saying about protests and I think something has to be done, but protesting outside in huge numbers with a probable minority causing bad agro i.e. offence towards players with their children, will do us no good and could get really ugly. I reckon we should have more of a positive protest that could get the whole countries press and TV to take notice. I propose a positive protest. This Saturday we try to fill Molineux to the rafters. Buy no merchandise what so ever, and that includes pies and whatever the result stay put in our seat till at least 9pm that night protesting and demand answer. Bet your life Sky TV will cover it from start to finish and ask some big questions. Shoot me down if you want, but think it through first.
great idea H.W., bring it on. i don,t think we will fill the molineux to the rafter,s . but the rest sound,s good. good luck
you’ll be on your own Saturday – the match is on Sunday. Mind if we play saturday and don’t tell Cardiff that might work
Sorry, speed typing while looking after my 3 year old.
Do you think if we played on Saturday with an open goal, could we still score. LMAO
thsat sounds a brilliant idea…if it goes ahead all the media must be there.
Can’t see how the extra revenue from a sell out crowd is going to do anything but bolster Morgan’s position. If our brave bunch of lads were plying their rather dubious efforts in front of just 3000 Taffs and empty Wolves seats, well now that would get the message across.
I will say however, that I agree with your veto on spending money in the ground, but perhaps we should not be in the ground in the first place.
just keep away for one match if you have the bottle!! that will be the best protest! you will have an empty stadium which will be the first time ever then who will pay the staff and players wages out their wallets, moxley or morgen??.. wont be the supporters and they dont deserve to with the way they play
Agreed as many of us have been saying, we need to get financial spotlight on the fucking incompetent club management.
It’s time they were shown up for their business incompetence.
I would travel the 500 miles round trip but would I fuck give them anymore of my hard earned money!
Away trips only!
The final whistle was de-ja-vu of Burnley back in October. The ferocity of the fans was as bad as it was last night. The players should have grasped the fans message then. The attitude of Johnson sickens me; seeing the influence on young players such as Davies hurts more. Bar Ebanks, who worked tirelessly up front in a role that with support would befit his strengths as a strong, intelligent runner, the players tainted by the Premier League relegation are losers; they have no belief and no confidence. Backs against wall is entrenched in their footballing DNA thanks to Mick and they can’t get over it to in order to attack in games when they have the inpetus. O’Hara, who still isn’t fit enough, is the only one of the trio of central midfielders who has any guile going forward; even Edwards who once had it has gone – although he may not be entirely fit either. Ridiculous decision to switch formations after 15 minutes when panic set in; absolutely no bottle whatsoever.
There is only one way out of this and that’s to attack. Proper wingers and two proper strikers. Saunders is trying to prove he is not a poor-mans Mick. Well being just that might actually save us.
Saunders is a crap lap dog brought in to ensure we spent as little as possible on players.
His transfer decisions were atrocious (letting Zubar go for nothing and Stearman got to our rivals).
His tactical decisions are at best naive and at worst down right suicidal:
-Continuing with Johnson and Berra until he had no choice but to put Batth in
-Continuing with Ebanks Blake and Doyle even though its not worked in past three seasons
-Playing anybody but a winger on the the right wing (Davies, Edwards, Foley, Sigurdarson)
-Playing our one dangerous striker, Sigurdarson in a deep or wide role where he can’t cause any problems.
-Refusing to play the one striker in our team with any recent goal scoring form Cassidy, bar five minute cameos
Saunders will get us relegated, he would be out of his depth in a paddling pool.
FOSM FOJM and FODS
Possibly literally.
I a gree Sheffield Wolf as my name change suggests I’m a Cassidy fan that’s the footballer not the singer I never thought in my life time we would be going back to the Aldershots, Mansfields and Northamptons and don’t mention Chester.
I’m not Wolverhampton born and breed. I’ve never been to England in my life and I’ve only seen Molineux on TV/Internet.
Yet Wolves IS my team. No doubts about it. What has started with an appreciation of Bully nearly a quarter of century ago has become a passion that would never ever go away.
The very first thought in my mind waking up today was “Fakk, WE lost to Barnsley. Now what?”. Serious.
Ben, thanks for the blog – no ifs and buts, just the grim reality and despair.
Anyone of fellow posters having a Wolves shirt in size L for sale? Let me know, I need one – Div 3 or not!
Love the photo Vladimir. Morgan and Moxey? Now wouldn’t that be nice.
Oh and about the shirt, i expect fatty Blake’s got one he could spare.
Martin Vlad asked for a size L not XXL!
Agreed on the M & M assumption. Sadly no, but being Wolves fan none should be allowed to be that positive 😉
It’s a picture taken in the famous “Bone Church” in Kutna Hora, near Prague. Need to visit the place the next time I’m in the Czech Republic myself…last time didn’t make the effort – their beer is awesome…
Looks like the beer didn’t do those two guys much good!
Or was that the ‘Before’ shot?
I salute your continuing loyalty from afar Vladimir.
What do you intend doing with the shirt, put it on an effigy of Morgan or Moxey and set fire to it?
Great idea, Doog! I’m getting in contact with the local witch – she owns me a favour since the day I married one of her daughters. That’s how we roll in Eastern Europe, you know.
Nah, screw that. I’d be proudly wearing the shirt in honour of one of the most important teams in the history of football. Plus, there’s no Sandwell fans in sight here, so I’m guaranteed I wouldn’t get a beating. Unlike Wolves, sadly.
Most of us marry witches daughters, we don’t know it at the time.
Bit like Wolves at the moment.
Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble.
Good on ya Vladimir, believe me fella, distance can be a positive blessing. All the same keep the Gold Flag flying in your neck of the woods and never forget Wolves aye we.
For this one I blame the manager, says he has around 8 right wingers, then plays Edwards wide right. That never works as he doesn`t have the pace for it, wrong pick.
Without Ward on the pitch, and a decent pacy left back showing what we have been missing for four years, Barnsley decided to bombard Foley (as the perceived weak link) with long balls from their keeper, and it wasn`t until Batth came over to help that that problem was sorted. Unfortunately the opposition kept the ball on the deck in the second half and we couldn`t cope, our one paced midfield got over run, and their strikers did what EB can`t – held the ball up and passed to their midfield runners coming through.
Thats the point – midfield mobility and pace, we just don`t have it. Pass and move, we can`t do it, and EB did well out wide where they let him play, but out of harms way, he did nothing in front of goal.
The players – despite what Moxey may say and even think – are just not good enough, there haven`t been enough players moving in and out over the last few seasons, and now its all coming home to roost. Saunders has taken a poisoned chalice, and it will be a miracle if we get out of the relegation spot. Very disappointing, but then no great suprise. That was my last match I`m going to this season, despite my season ticket.
Too angry to write anything really at the moment, except thanks to Ben and Thomas for putting themselves through that for us.
I was reading the Wolves Live Blog myself and with just a minute or two left in which to possibly save us from complete disaster, the thread came up:-
‘Robinson’s throw headed out and Henry volleys well over the bar.’
Henry, the man who just days before had boasted ‘We’re too goo good to go down.’
Too good? You’re having a laugh mate. You and the rest of them are a disgrace to the shirt.
Great right up as always. I mentioned the attitude of players warming up 2 months back https://twitter.com/stuup/status/285057316531875840 that day it was Pennant, O’Hara and Doumbia who were guilty, so its pretty wide spread.
We can blame tactics as much as we want but unless we get this right we’re doomed. What amazes me the most is that this type of attitude is allowed to continue. Why isn’t something done about it. There is enough evidence. Totally unprofessional!
Incidentally, it would be nice if the authors of this blog could come to the next WWFCSA meeting to offer their opinion. http://www.wwfcsa.org.uk/
Dodged a bullet really with this one. My girlfriend had a meeting at the last minute and my housemates didn’t fancy the trip over to barnsley as they thought the arsenal/bayern game would be a better one. Can’t fault that logic. Saved me £23 and a night of misery.
Watching Bayern play was just a reminder of how you SHOULD play football every week but it only served to depress me even further how many fathoms we are below the surface.
To see the official twitter state: Barnsley 0 – 1 Wolves (Sigurdarson 7′) gave me hope. Here’s Dean using his brain. Here’s Dean doing what I’ve said he should do all season and playing our talented young striker up top who has duly converted. Keep thumping it up to him for more was my thoughts.
Then what does he do? Pulls our talented young striker out of his favoured role and sticks him on the right flank to defend? Bonkers!
2 goals later and my iPad had been flung across the room as I watched two proper teams battle it out in the champions league.
Personally. I think that’s us done for the season.
Cardiff (that’s going to be laughable…)
Millwall
Forest
Bristol
Middlesborough
Blues
Bolton
Huddersfield
Hull
Charlton
Burnley
Brighton
Right now, I couldn’t call 3 points from any of those…
Looking at the last few seasons, you’ve need between 42-50 points to stay up…
7-15 points from 11 games.
Seems like a mammoth task right now….
“…instead of being where he should have been…”
You’re being more than a little unfair here. Who says Batth even wanted words of encouragement?
I was actually talking about Robinson Harry. That a senior pro and captain is dicking about on the pitch at 7.42pm when the manager is giving one final pep talk is reprehensible.
If I did it on a Sunday morning (and believe me, I’ve been a substitute enough times!) I would be told to pull my bloody finger out and run the line as punishment.
Whether Robinson or Batth wants encouragement or not isn’t the point. The point is that each and every one of that travelling party should be united in their encouragement and support of the 11 men on the pitch. It’s called unity.
All of Barnsley’s subs were back in the hutch way before the teams walked out.
All of Barnsley’s subs were warming up properly instead of chortling like defiant little brats on the naughty step.
Guess what? One of Barnsley’s subs came off the bench and scored the winner.
It might not sound like a big deal to you. From my vantage point with 998 others, it was a revolting sight.
Even if it was Robinson you meant you’re still being overly emotive and speculative in saying that he SHOULD have been giving him words of encouragement. A REVOLTING sight? Johnson would have been exactly where he was meant to be at that time. Yes we’ve got problems but all the neurotic hyperbole that some Wolves fans are coming out with isn’t helping matters. In fact I suspect it’s making matters worse.
It may seem like I’m having a go at you but I’m not. It’s just that there’s so much overly negative rubbish being written on social media sites that it seems to be actually making matters worse. Fair balanced, measured and constructive criticism is what’s needed. The team and club needs as much *support* as it can get.
Harry J – the players are shit. Is that constructive enough for you
Well if you dont like it you know what to do.
Personally I find the sycophantic, lilly livered drivel of yours extremely offensive.
This blog hs provided the most in-depth & objective analysis of the clubs catastrophic implosion I’ve seen anywhere.
For you to cast stones at someone who was at the match & reported what he saw on behalf of his readership is beneath contempt.
Have a nice day & give my regards to Jez!
Well said Scooped.
I’m afraid, my attempt to say the same as you below, is perhaps a little too diplomatic.
Amazed at your perception Harry J.
To support Wolves for the past year at least, has just been putting money into Redrow.
Surely you must see that?
You are asking us to ‘back off’, when it seems, the manager and CEO have an agenda which does NOT put football, as its main criteria.
No.
Wolves has been run by a pair of cheap ‘con’ men masquerading, with their capitalist pomp, all over Sir Jack’s legacy.
It is glaringly obvious that Staale was sacked because he wanted to actually improve the team during January.
“Spend money on players, we haven’t finished the buildings yet have we Jed,”Morgan sayeth.
Bet Doyle stayed cos Celtic wanted us to pay half his wages and Morgan couldn’t/wouldn’t do it.
Everyone on this blog has given their all to Wolves, many for decades of their lives.
It is entirely understandable that we resort to cynicism and anger in response to being mugged off.
Seems Saunders is part of the problem.
Ziggy on the right wing after 16 minutes?
No Cassidy again?
As for Johnson you are spot on Ben, a disgrace of a man.
At least he should pretend to have an inkling of enthusiasm about Wolves.
However, like most of us, I will be watching for the results in Division One.
The Third Division as it used to be known.
I truly despair at the attitude of some on here. Johnson a disgrace for warming up before a game and not patronising a Liverpool professional by offering ‘advice’?
“…has just been putting money into Redrow”
They’re two separate companies, of course he isn’t.
“…an agenda which does NOT put football, as its main criteria.”
They’ve made mistakes for sure but if you think that either Morgan or Moxey aren’t every bit as eager for success you’re wrong. If it’s money they’re after then that’s in the Premier league.
I tell you what is a disgrace and beyond contempt. It’s those ‘fans’ who shouted pretty shameful abuse at the players as they came off the pitch. In anyone thinks that is in anyway helping matters…
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151322452520847
“…has just been putting money into Redrow” I say
“They’re not separate companies, of course he isn’t…” Harry J response
That is very naive.
Theoretically, on paper, legally they are separate companies.
In reality they are inextricably entwined, the new stand, ‘new homes’ are built by REDROW a company owned by MORGAN.
Practically speaking they are the same.
It is as plain as daylight to me.
You might argue that legally this is not possible or some other crap.
I can only assume you must be part of Morgan’s PR network.
I suggest you read Clive’s comment.
“You might argue that legally this is not possible …”
You answered your own question.
“I can only assume you must be part of Morgan’s PR network.”
As I said Morgan’s made mistakes but you don’t have to be doing PR for him to realise that his best interests, financially or otherwise, is for Wolves to be successful. Preferably in the Premier League. To think otherwise is ridiculous. What would the sale value be in the club’s current predicament?
My point is only that unsubstantiated claims, neurotic hyperbole and aggressive, obnoxious abuse helps in no way whatsoever. and is in many ways quite destructive. Calm, measured criticism is, however, always welcome.
Come on you Wolves!
‘As I said Morgan’s made mistakes but you don’t have to be doing PR for him to realise that his best interests, financially or otherwise, is for Wolves to be successful. Preferably in the Premier League.’
Of course both Morgan and Moxey would prefer to have stayed in the premier league and as high as possible too. In all ways they gain, financially and esteem wise. As you say, to think otherwise is ridiculous and i don’t think anyone on here does.
What they didn’t want to do was pay for it. They thought they could do it on the cheap. They wanted to be part of a very exclusive club but they didn’t want to pay the membership fees.
Making a profit, Moxey’s inflated salary and the continued expansion of Morgan’s construction empire has always taken priority over improving the team through the replacement of sub-standard players with premiership ones which means premiership transfer fees and salaries.
When they belatedly replaced the out of his depth McCarthy, they did it on the cheap and then repeated the mistake twice more.
They said they didn’t need to sell our crown jewels and then, delaying for as long as they could, sold them and replaced them with a few trinkets.
Before Stale could demand strengthening in the January window, they sacked him. Of course, his replacement didn’t have enough time to assess the squad in order to spend any of their precious money. Lucky that.
As i have already said to you below, comments on here don’t make players good or bad. And as far as them getting some serious stick at last from some of the most loyal, brilliant supporters anywhere, well it’s about bloody time in my opinion.
If it is in his best interests to have successful football team then he has failed miserably and should be sacked!
and you think we should have cheered and applauded them for that croc of s–t!! do you realy read what you write? for months the fans have been clapping them off but only one or two ever came over to the away fans and recognised our costly support ..yeah lets applaud them off…numpty
The choice wasn’t between applauding them off and screaming vitriolic abuse at them. Deathly silence would have got the message across, or even boo if you must.
they would have prefered that cos they are so gutless and it wouldnt have affected them….they need to know what this side of the fence is like!
Well siad Robin, could not have put it better myself.
I don’t think one single word on here, either supportive or critical, has made the slightest difference either way to whether Ward has the faintest idea how to defend, whether Henry has the slightest clue how to play a constructive forward pass, whether Doyle could hit a barn door from the inside or whether the team could win a game once in a blue moon.
They are poor players who have been overpaid for far too long and it’s about time they took responsibility and paid the price.
So because I believe a senior pro should be encouraging teammates in the biggest game of the season (instead of sauntering around a pitch THREE MINUTES before kick-off), my *support* is being brought into question Harry?
If he’s meant to be there instead of next to his teammates in the dressing room, then I bow to Roger Johnson, his virtuous philosophy and everything he stands for. (He’s used to that anyway)
No Barnsley subs were messing around with a football at 7.42pm. Forget Flitcroft’s 8 wins in 10 – he evidently knows nothing either. Were his subs in exactly the right place too, or did they stumble back to the home dressing room by mistake?
Roger Johnson, on 40k a week, turned up for work drunk last season.
The same Roger Johnson shrugged his shoulders and flailed his arms last night when he received some verbal. ‘Nuffin’ to do wiv me Guv.’
No neurotic hyperbole, just fact.
Revolting doesn’t tell the half of it.
Well good morning, greasel.
Once again, a clappy happer slimes his way onto the blog and tells us that its our fault the team is doing so badly.
I have not heard such utter bollocks since the last time greasel/morgan/saunders, take your pick, opened their mouth.
We pick the team, organize the training, decide who comes and goes, give the team talks, choose the tactics and give all the orders during the match, do we?
There is only one message that needs to get through to our lot of thick headed prima donnas, and that is perform your duties as per contract. If you dont, or cant, then you are in breach of contract, and will be dismissed.
But that never happens, does it?
Oops, I forgot, contract negotiations are our fault also.
Where did I say it was your fault? What I said was that all the misinformed, hysterical nonsense that some have ben spouting just makes matters worse.
Hysterical nonsense?
By definition, that is “uncontrollable emotion and meaningless words”.
The members and contributors on this blog are far and away the most controlled and eloquent of any blog I have seen.
It would be totally reasonable for us to scream blue murder and threaten dire consequences for any Wolves player who doesnt pull his weight, but the vast majority of emotions expressed on here are prayers.
We only want one thing and that is a winning team.
We would not care how greasel combs his hair or how many houses morgan builds, as long as we are winning.
Do the Chelsea fans worry about their oligarch’s business ventures, or City fans care how many passengers Etihad carries?
No, coz their teams are winning
United fans were pissed off about the Glaziers take over a few years back. Any sign of problems at OT now?
No, they have a winning team.
We do not own share in WWFC, but we have all invested millions collectively over the years.
The only way we have to vent our frustrations and show our feelings is at the piss poor performances on match days, and on blogs like this on other days.
Stop fuckin’ whining about people who care passionately about The Wolves, Harry J, put down your rose colored spectacles, and get with the program.
We are where we are despite the fans geniune concern for the club, not because of it.
Just read your post clive, what a cracking piece of work you posted to that little cockalorum,Harry j who ever he is,alias greasel me thinks.
What are we supposed to think when moron and poxey say nothing.
who’s to blame, not us the fans.
Needed-new players-new style-new shape-new coach.
New CEO – New Owner
Thanks Ben and Thomas for your continued efforts at reporting on the excruciatingly painful demise of a once great club.
I am not a season ticket holder and only an occasional match attender so the pain I feel must be multiplied a hundredfold for poor suckers like you who have to sit through the complete rubbish that has passed for football over the last couple of seasons.
In the words of another one of our ‘hugely successful’ managers:-
“You must be paying for sins from a past life”.
I, like all the other contributors to the blog and thousands of Wolves fans worldwide, am in despair at the complete incompetence of the owner and CEO who have patently not got the first idea how to run a football club.
Wrong decisions, bad appointments, selling or giving away our only decent players, having no intention of replacing them, showing only slimy arrogance and smug self satisfaction and a total lack of accepting any responsibility for their naive mistakes – surely to God they should at the very least come out and apologise to the fans for the complete horlicks they’ve made of everything to do with Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club.
What does it take to bring these people to account!?
I have spoken to Alan Green on 606, the Radio 5 Live phone in, I have tried leaving messages on the official Wolves youtube video sites but they are never passed for publication, I have looked in vain for a way on the insanitised site to contact the club (does anyone know if there is a way?).
I was crying into my Cornflakes speaking to the present Mrs DOOGooder this morning and said that I thought I would knock the Wolves Blog on the head because it is so depressing reading all the desperately sad contributions from fans who obviously love the Club and are powerless to do anything about the complete shit that is happening to it. (I promised myself I wouldn’t swear but what the fuck!!!!!!!!!).
Unfortunately, it isn’t part of a football fan’s DNA to just walk away so you’ll all have to put up with my rantings for the foreseeable future.
See you all in Division 3.
I genuinely think Moxey is a psychopath Doog. And i don’t mean the very rare psycopath who goes round chainsawing people’s limbs from their bodies as in the movies.
No just the run of the mill psycho found in all walks of life and particularly in the highest echelons of industry. No sense of guilt or remorse. No empathy for other people’s feelings.Never worry about what they may have done wrong or the immensity of what they’re are doing. Just smug satisfaction with themselves. More commonly known as c***s!
Well said Mart !
You’ve hit the nail on the head – we’re watching the demise of the club and we can’t do ANYTHING about it… The ‘Suppress and Smear’ are in the club’s pocket and the Board are Morgan ‘yes-men’. It doesn’t help that we’ve been here before (Bhattis) and been promised it’ll never happen again because look – it IS happening again.
As a fellow supporter of this once great club I think it’s time we/us fans did something. STAND UP AND SUPPORT, give it everything for the last 12 games. These games could be our clubs last for many many years as if we go down we are finished. Support/cheer/scream/jump up and down do it, sing our hearts out for the old gold and its history. Forget Morgan, Moxey, the current pathetic team let’s do it for Sir Jack, let’s do it for Bully, Stan Cullis and of course Billy Wright, let’s do it for US. Let’s show these pathetic high racy at wolves they will never destroy our history. Come on Boys let’s go down singing, let’s hope the players read this and say, enough, let’s give it everything, everything for a great club. Come on you loyal supporters stand up and let’s show them what really matters… This Great Club. We are Wolves until we die.
You assume the players can read.
They probably read as well as they play football. One thing they can do thoguh is HEAR, so lkets show them what we think of our club. I will be singing my heart out on Sunday lets hope nthe other 20k feel the same.
I think congratulations are in order for Morgan.
His vision when he stole the club was to make as much money as quickly as he could, and he has achieved that.
The only reason he kept greasel was for a buffer between himself and the fans, knowing the shit that would inevitably be coming his way.
In a few short years he has both made a fortune for himself while single handedly destroyed a famous football club.
That takes some doing.
How much plotting and coniving has he done, to orchestrate the stealing of the training facilities to build overpriced slums, “redevelop” a stadium less than 20 years old, and also come up with as much spin, as many lame excuses and appointments as he has done, without seemingly to have spent any money……………….and he’s got away with it!!!
Yes, congratulations, Morgan. You have got your 15 minutes of infamy.
Now we know the real reason you didnt buy Liverpool. If you had tried there what you have done at Wolves, you would have been found in some dark Liverpool slum alley with your nuts crushed.
That thought is about the only reason a glimmer of a smile crosses my face today.
I really hope your chickens come home to roost financially. Would love to see you in the bankruptcy court, or worse.

So everythings all right then…
So Jez is on £1.9m reading that link?! Not sure if I’ve read that correctly Wolfman.
I hear a rumour that the Steve Bull will be closed all season, next season. I’m not reading too much into it just yet, but it’s a rumour a fan has passed on to my old man. Preparing for relegation?! I hope it ain’t so!
Yes your right there’s going to be 12 4 bedroom detached houses being built with garden backing on to pitch £500,000 each
But if you go for Early Bird option £450,000
What worries me is the following;
‘The club has three directors – chairman and multi-millionaire Redrow founder Steve Morgan, Vincent Fairclough and Jex Moxey. No dividends were paid and its top-earning director picked up a total package of £1.19 million.’
We don’t know who the ‘top-earning’ director is do we ? Regardless of who it is, whats to say the other Directors were not paid only marginally less than 1.19 million ? If that were the case, it would begin to account for the quite frankly, baffling, accounts…so many millions in, so little available to spend. And as Martin rightly points out, the figures mentioned don’t even begin to tally with the transfer fees reported – unless the players in question were sold on a ‘payment in instalments’ basis or unless the reporting period for the accounts differs widely from the time of the sales.
Whatever is going on we deserve a clear explanation and not more of Moxey’s spin as recently reported in the local press. We don’t give a flying f**k whether Steve Morgan buys his kids Xmas presents in the club shop or not – we want to know why a club which on paper is extremely profitable is unable or unwilling to invest in capable playing staff.
The £1.19m pay package will be Jez Moxey’s.The previous two years accounts clearly state tha only one director received any payment. So obviously that one director is Moxey. It means in the 3 years we were in the Premier his total gross pay will have been circa £3.3m .According to a Blues website Karen Brady’s salary for the last year she was at Brum amounted to £179,000. So Moxey’s salary was 6 times greater than Brady’s for doing the same job. Like Jez says our wages bill is too high !!!!! He can clearly afford to laugh at us in our despair.
Part of that link says, ‘However, as the directors’ report states, the club recouped millions more from the sales of the likes of Steven Fletcher and Matt Jarvis the summer after the relegation.
The sales saw almost £16 million come in to the club, but £8.7 million was also spent on new players in that period.’
£16 million? Where’s the rest of it then? Sales from those two plus Kightly was a lot more than that.
I reckon we’re paying now for the indulgences of the McCarthy years. Morgan and Moxey, or whoever runs the club, are making us as supporters pay, and they are making the managers who succeeded McCarthy pay.
No one who succeeded Mick has been indulged so much in terms of time. Of course he did very well in achieving promotion, but after that he was into his third year in the premier league without giving any indication that he could take Wolves forward at that level. No one since has lasted more than a few months (Saunders may do, but it seems unlikely).
But at the same time money was spent at McCarthy’s request, the like of which has not been made available to his successors. At first they were bargain basement signings who seemed to fit in well in the championship, like Kightly and Jarvis. But more recently he was obsessive in his pursuit of players like Hunt and Johnson and was prepared to pay over the odds for them. I’m not blaming Mick for this because again he was supported to the hilt by the hierarchy.
Solbakken was not supported in anything like the same way, either in terms of time or money. Although money was made from the sales of Fletch, Jarvis and Kites, I think the board took the view that so much money had been wasted in the past on the likes of Johnson, Berra, Hunt, Myukolo etc that they weren’t prepared to sanction much more spending- also of course they took it on themselves to cancel the contracts of Milijas and Zubar, so that was another £4m or so down the drain.
Now we’re all paying for it.
6 minutes………………..
It breaks my heart to say it but I think we are doomed, the trap door is open and after the Cardiff and Watford games we will be serious points behind fourth from bottom. The manager is clueless, the owner wants to build houses and nothing else, the CEO only cares about his over inflated bonus and the players don’t give a shit because most of them are so deluded that they think they will walk into any other team. The only good thing about this old rotten mess is the fans, the people who really care, who will still be here when the above have pissed off.
My heart breaks for each and every one of us, we deserve so much better.
My only question now is , did Sir Jack include a sell on clause when he handed our great club over to the scouse mercenary, I hope to God he did, it might be the only thing that saves us.
I don’t think there is any doubt that the players are to blame for the situation we find ourselves in. I think that the failure of SM and JM to realise that has been a major factor in getting us into the position we find ourselves in now. In Staale we had a manager who, year after year, managed to complete with the giants of Europe with very limited resources. His methods must have worked to enable him to do that. He was appointed with a LONG term plan in mind then sacked after 6 months following a knee jerk reaction by Morgan. How the fC8k can 6 months be LONG term especially when he only had his backroom team in place for a couple of months?
We have replaced a manager with top European experience with a guy whose only managerial experience of the championship was getting his previous club relegated. Now it looks like he could make it two out of two clubs relegated in twelve months. Morgan said that Staale’s record wasn’t acceptable – the guy who replaced him has yet to win a game in seven attempts and has taken 4 points out of a possible 21. Over the course of a season that wouldn’t get us 30 points and certain relegation.
Am a new reader but long standing wolves fan born and bred in Wolverhampton now living in Bournemouth.I have just listened to DS on BBC WM and have realised we are in deep s..t with a manager who sounds completely out of his depth. His rambling, uninspiring explanation of the iatest disaster sent shivers down my spine.
our club needs sweeping out and starting again..i wish someone knew how to get in touch with sir jack
I posted this earlier today and I’m still spitting feathers,
Cassidy on with 6 mins to go, Just how stupid can Saunders be? Talk about stating the bleeding obvious. The third tier of English football is looming large, I’ve been there before and DO NOT want to be there again.
Moxey Morgan and Saunders all need to be out of this club preferably by 5pm today. A totally pi$$ed off life long fan, from child to pensioner.
all we can expect is silence as per usual! no one will buy the club..no one wants to play for us and what manager would come anywhere near us now! if only greedy morgan had given curbishley what he wanted we would probably still be in the prem. disaster looms
All this “Believe in the 3Ms” bullshit is being horribly exposed.
Finally.
If we go down we won’t go bust what a proposterous suggestion.
It will be a chance for a re-birth.
I hope we go down.
It’ll be best in the long run.
how do you propose to pay the wage bill ? 1/2 million per week. Even fletcher/jarvis money won’t last long at that rate.
WOLVES WILL GO BUST. Every team that has fallen from premiership this far has gone bust.
Because we’ve got 2 seasons left of parachute payments, because we have no debt and in fact we are cash rich.
Simple.
you get 16m next season. That covers 32 weeks. You ain’t got another 8m in the bank. And what makes you think we are cash rich ? Profit ain’t cash. Most of the cash went to Redrow for the new stand and to Zubar and mouykolo.
Dear Mr Saunders, You appear to be learning about Wolves the hard way. Congratulations on replacing 3 of the back four within 7 games and for playing Siggy as a striker for once. Please replace the right-back on Saturday. Now allow me to elighten you: Wolves never have and never will be able to defend a lead! Wolves’ relegation is clearly of no consequence to these players. They don’t fear relegation because they don’t expect to be Wolves players next season. Play anyone but the nailed on regulars and at the very least go out fighting. PLAY THE KIDS! PLAY TO WIN! FFS
Does anyone predict that a year from now we will be in another relegation battle, this time in league 1 (old 3rd division)? Preposterous, I here you all say. Nonsense. We aren’t that bad.
I might agree. But the funny thing is that this is exactly what everyone would have said (including me!) if anyone last season suggested we would be in a Championship relegation struggle a year on. Surely we were better than that … enough quality to bounce back, or at least a top 10 finish.
Problem is, when the ship is rudderless, with a captain and crew who couldn’t care less what happened, there is no predicting how far down we will spiral. Morgan only cares about one thing – his millions. So long as he is in charge, THIS IS 1984 ALL OVER AGAIN!!!
Someone please tell me how this situation under Morgan is any better than the Bhatti brothers. Do you think that if Morgan wanted to hire someone to run one of his businesses he was going to appoint someone fresh from MBA school or someone without the experience and credentials that leave no doubt they will excel? No! He will hire the best qualified person he could find; someone who has run so many similar successful businesses that they would do the job with their eyes closed. He would make sure there was minimum risk. So why is it different with Wolverhampton Wanderers? Why appoint a series of novices in Connor, Solbakken and now Saunders.
It wasn’t hard to predict none of these would cut the mustard. I’m no psychic genious on an 800 hotline with a magic crystal ball. I’m just someone with a little common sense who actually cares for this club and who despairs at the arrogance and catastrophic decisions that have taken a club from the doorsteps of success to the brink of the abyss.
Do Morgan and Moxey think the quality managers and players are now going to line up to join us once we go down another level? We are in a totally different game now. Nobody of any quality will want to play for us. Anyone decent still on the team like Sako will be running away from this club at the end of the season as fast as their boots could carry them.
This is 1984 all over again, and unless Morgan sells to someone who actually wants to invest serious $s, then yes, we will be in another relegation battle this time next year. But hey, they made a profit! Hoo-bloody-ray!
Arrogant Bastards! The lot of them. Morgan, Moxey and the players who don’t care. Their accolade stares me in the face as I drink a pint of one of my favorite brews this side of the pond.
http://www.stonebrew.com/arrogantbastard/
And I contemplate how the hell we got here when all they had to do was buy some decent defenders the day we lost to Blackburn and survived.
I think we should give Saunders more time before we judge his abilities as a manager and the future of this club. Up until now Solbakkens avrage points per game is higher, and he really struggled with injuries. If the points per game is lower than Solbakken and we get relegated I will hold Morgan responsible.
If M &M are still ruining the show, yes
Where’s Clive when you need him. As they said in the movie ‘Apollo 13″ Houston, we have a problem. Houston, we are venting something out onto the football field, I can see the ball but what do I do with it? Pass it off or kick it out for a throw in, god forbid you want me to actually put the ball in the back of the goal now do you!!!!!!!
Good point Andrew. Houston, do you know any oil tycoons out there who may want to buy a football club 🙂
Go Wolves says: I do not know of any oil tycoons that would buy but, I do know a man that I would like to buy the Wolves. His name is Arthur Blank. A multimillionaire that made his money with a company called Home Depot. Very large DIY store in America.
Arthur bought the Atlanta Falcons (American Football) team who were pathetic. They are at least respected in the league now and, have made the playoffs 4 times in the past 6 years.
The Glazier family owns part of Man united and, owns businesses in Tampa as well as the Tampa bay Buccaneers football team. A team that the Atlanta Falcons do not like, similiar to the of the Albion.
Maybe just maybe someone could get Arthur to at least look at the club….
Now this is getting scary.
I just started a part time job ……at Home Depot!!!
I will talk to my boss later today, see if he has his check book handy!
is that a nail bar clivey?
Don’t know what to add to this Ben – absolutely spot on. If you can believe this I thought we’d be staying up despite our poor run before yesterday but one unfathomable formation change and capitulation later… *sighs*
Anyone know how good Shrewsbury is to visit?
Its very nice & can recommend the annual flower festival if we’re there in August:)
There’s a better festival than that. It does do flowers but you can also get pedigree, london pride, old speckled hen, anything really. Yum yum.
Oh, something to look forward to then 🙂
there’s a nice park i used to go to with my nan when i was a kid. that’s all i got though mate, sorry
I think Shrewsbury bit overated hang on for a year or two Worcester and Hereford nice.
Bath is a beautiful City.
Bath City is also the present Mrs DOOGooder’s favourite football team, so with any luck we could be seeing the lads down at Twerton Park in a couple of years.
I don’t know how Morgan and Moxey will like Charlie’s bar but they should fit in very well – both being a couple of right Charlies!
At least they’ve got a good manager
Hamlet, my sister lives nearby Shrewsbury. Lovely town. Gives me another excuse to take make a stop to see her of courses, might not have the stomach to watch the game though. Lol
It’s a crying shame the way the club is in free fall. I am sorry but I agree that this club is heading for relegation. The description by Ben of the total apathy of the senior players before and after the game just confirms that this barrel is full of rotten apples. I really believe that they have nothing but disdain for the club and the owner ever since Morgan dared to enter their dressing room to vent his spleen regarding the poor performance against Liverpool. I have no doubt that Morgan, behind the scenes, has made his feelings known and I suspect this is why this bunch of third rate players are just taking the money and going through the motions. No skill, no drive, no commitment, no heart, no pride in their club or their performance…. sorry but no hope.
just keep away for one match if you have the bottle!! that will be the best protest! you will have an empty stadium which will be the first time ever then who will pay the staff and players wages out their wallets, moxley or morgen??.. wont be the supporters and they dont deserve to with the way they play.
It’s the people behind the scenes I feel sorry for cleaners sparky grounds staff admin staff these people could be out of a job because of those f..kers
and morgan wouldnt notice ..hed probably be on another holiday….unless liverpool came to mol!
Too angry to post anything last night. Marginally better tonight but still seething. I agree with those who think it is all over, this team has relegation written into it’s DNA and there is nothing we can do about it. Protest if you wish but Laurel and Hardy won’t care and neither will the majority of the players.
My early bird invitation dropped on the mat a couple of days ago. I laughed out loud initially and then felt sick to the pit of my stomach. Totally helpless to prevent this impending train crash and the death of my beloved football club.
Further to my earlier post, not wanting to understate Jez Moxey’s remuneration package,I have now added up the figures from the accounts for our three seasons in the Premier. This information is available to the public and during this period he ‘earned ‘ a total including pension provision of THREE MILLION FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR THOUSAND POUNDS.Makes you think doesn’t it.
And he won’t resin if we get relegated? How strange. Just don’t come anywhere near my bathroom Moxey.
yeah and for doing what?
Presiding over a club that continually loses and gets relegated. In any other industry he’d have been sacked by now.
I totally agree mate … love to be a fly on the wall in the boardroom although moxey would try to make money out of the fly by charging 7 quid to get in!
‘ THREE MILLION FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR THOUSAND POUNDS.’
We could have got a half-decent left-back for that…
Don’t think redrow is directly linked to club problems..ok his appetite to invest will be hampered by his failed well recorded business deal BUT the real issue is the fat mans incompetence sacking mm with no plan letting players contracts run down while he stayed like a cat caught in headlights wandering wether to stick or twist as we spiralled to the lower leagues. Will Saunders get us out of crap? I don’t know him well enough but his CV isn’t up to scratch even if instinctively I like his media bollocks..
Let’s get the fat man out for gods sake…get the following trending #sackthefatman. And sign all messages in support

Wolves’ll be fine once Doyler finds the “eye of the tiger”. With this gem Rondeano Saunders has surpassed the great Confucius who say “he who talk borrocks, is borrocks”.
A few have mentioned Sir Jack and the possibility of him coming back. He is in his 90th year now so I doubt that’s gonna happen. God though how I wish it could happen. There really is only one way from here on. Forget about the players but just remember the shirt they are wearing and sing your hearts out for the old gold n black. The home matches will make or break us. This is a good time to play Cardiff. They are getting nervous. We have to win all our home matches. Simple as. I am as gutted as the next fan but we must not cannot throw the towel in with so many matches left. Think of the positives, Leicester 2nd half, yesterday first half. We cannot go down. F*** the players that don’t care. Remember Sir Jack and Bully are still part of the club. I’m really scraping the barrel for something positive to say but the alternative (having witnessed the mid 80s first hand with 4000 others) is simply frightening!
i like your sentiment incog mate…the fans havent thrown the towel in the players did it months ago
It’s just so depressing at the Wolves at the moment I can’t bear it. My good mate and a****n fan posted the three degrees on my facebook wall today, “when will i see you again?”. he couldn’t even shut me up after they did us 5-1, but today i just asked him nicely to stop and thankfully he did. it’s reached the point of pity on the battlefield of banter.
i’ve nothing useful to say that hasn’t been said a thousand times over by everyone on here. the problems are so wide ranging and deep rooted i can’t see anything other than a relegation coming. and i feel sick to my stomach about it.
the only slim glimmer of hope is the slight improvement in play since DS came in, even if the results haven’t followed, and the eventual decision to change the defence and put the quick lad up top, even if we only got 16 minutes of it.
maybe, just maybe we can somehow sneak a win and go on a little run and just scrape home the right side of the dotted line. can we….?
No we can’t.
This is now the longest run without a win since Tommy Docherty got us relegated from this league. He won 2 before the end of the season and this team will win about the same.
At the start of the next season only 3 players from the old team were left because of wage issues. The new team were relegated again with just 11 wins. The owner was a builder who milked the club for all it had . Sound familiar ?
Some of us have been here before only this time there will be no escape.
I am insulted by the way our club is “managed”.
Complete disarray.
Complete capitulation.
The players have they no pride?
STAY AWAY, it’s hard but it’s the only way they will listen.
Lets show them how really TOUGH we are.
Tougher than them. FO GREASEBALL AND MORON.
YOU HAVE CROSSED THE LINE.
COME ON BIGHT BACK.
WE ARE WOLVES.
like the idea alf but so many just wouldnt stop as they would see it as going against their club..what they fail to see is cut the cash flow and morgan would have to do something really proactive instead of piecemeal offerings all the time . im with you though alf
Cant see an end to this mess if morgan sells up will we find a buyer who will put significant funds into rebuilding the team ? With the new TV deal in the Prem a chasm could open up with Wolves a long way off on the wrong side. Sorry folks.
Didn’t even get to listen to the commentary for this one, and was unaware of the result until I returned home Wednesday night after travelling for work.
As ever an eloquent recap of the nights events from Ben.
Well done mate, It’s as if I were there like all those moons ago.
I feel for you!
Not going to offer comment on the game as I can”t……….So all I have to say is this……And hppefully not as a lement.
……..”Those were the days my friend,
We thought they’d never end,
We’d sing and dance for ever and a day,
We’d live the life we’d choose,
We’d fight and never loose,
Those were the days,…Oh yes they were the days,
Naaaaa, Naaaaaaaa, Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!
Alternative Chorus:
“We are the Wolves, Oh yes we are the Wolvs.”
Lego for them to build houses.
Let go of them that can’t play.
Lets go and drown our sorrows.
Too many people working in this club have based their ‘professionalism’ on playing Fifa, football manager and Monopoly games.
I may not be that old yet but I appreciate and value the days when the football boots were heavy and uncomfortable, the ball was like a lead balloon and wages more than likely didn’t exist for your devotion to your team and town. It’s hard work putting your soul into something for free and never having a reward.
Anybody for a pay per play system? Paid only for goals, saves, tackles and completed passes. It would be interesting to see how it worked that’s for sure.
that would make moxey bankrupt before any player 🙂
On the protest theme how about the South Bank doing the Poznon for the whole of the first half on Sunday ? Ok not great but they will probably enjoy it more than the second 45.
as much as i hate it GREAT IDEA
Thanks Goldy you’ve even found your Caps key deeply honoured – but dont over use it i like your style !
i thought youd like it:) just wish we could rewind 12 months cos id like that.
top and bottom of it, players aint good enough, boardroom is a joke! only way to get them to take notice is to boycott the golden palace!!!! moxey would take notice, if he dont get any revenue, he needs to take a good hard look in the mirror and ask himself if he is the right person to take wolves forward!! the answer mr moxey is a huge no!!!!! go now and let wolves be a big club again!!
At the end of last season, Karl Henry, walking off the pitch, said something along the lines of, “These players aren’t Championship players”; looks like he was right!
On taking over Blackpool, Paul Ince said it is extremely hard to get out of the championship. I beg to differ – Mork, Pork and the Beano seemingly are finding it rather easy
I think it’s true that the rot seems to be coming from the McCarthy lot. Doyle, Johnson, Ward, Foley, Henry. Which of those has pulled out a truly good performance lately. (I’m thinking relative to the other members of the squad, Can’t say any of them have been prolific save for Sako). The starting 11 at the weekend has to feature as little of them as possible.
Even that doesn’t fill me with a great deal of hope 🙁
I dont think anybody on this blog wouldn’t think that’s a good line-up. At least they would give it a good go. God help us that’s all we desire
If that team was put out and we lost, I do not think it would be from lack of endeavour.
I’d prefer that, to losing because the old ‘guard’ no longer ‘put in a shift.’
Hi like that team selection very much. It would be brave but that’s what is needed. Your point about MM player’s not performing since he left is another reason why he MM had to go. He instilled into them a willingness to fight for him rather than the club! Glad the f’er went just wish he would take that lot away!
After all said and done, what do we do as fans to arrest this situation.
Do we lambaste the player’s,do we get behind them, the only way for us to stand any chance of survival is to get behind them on sunday and vent any anger towards the board after the match and not to the players.
I don’t know if it will work, but its all we can do as supporters.
Don’t get me wrong i’m as mad as anyone but shouting abuse at players will only make them more scared to perform at anywhere,so if we have the stomach for the fight then perhaps they will respond with the performance required to beat the taff’s and then we can takt strides to get the points required to get us out of the mire.UTW..
I have a few questions if anyone would like to interject and comment;
1) If relegated, will management keep Saunders….
2) Is Saunders is sacked, who will come to Wolves anyway….
3) Will Morgan have the guts to sack Moxey….
4) Will Morgan sell and get out….
5) I read somewhere that Morgan tried to buy or buy into Liverpool FC. Is it true that they don’t trust their own kind….
One more weird thought for this weekend. By the nature of the football Gods taking pity for Wolverhampton FC watch you’ll see, we’ll beat Cardiff this weekend by some own goal or something… One can only dream now…
Thanks to Ben for telling it as is. I am not sure about Dean Saunders as he has taken on a poisened chalice. He had no chance in the Jan. transfer window he was told to get rid of players before he could sign anyone. The truth of the matter is we are left with about 8 senior players who seem to be quite happy to just turn up and don’t or can’t play to the required standard to win games. I know it is diificult for you Wolves fans that really care. I urge all of you to keep supporting until we know which division we will be playing in next season. Then is the time to take action. I still remember the Bhatti days and standing on the old South Bank there used be about 20 of us each home match who used to stand in the same spot knew we were going to lose but still kept going. Without your support there will no be a club. It will turn around but maybe not with the people who are In charge now. It’s your club not theirs.
quite right patty mate.. i just wish someone would tell morgan that! it will take years to sort out this mess IF we stay up .. but if relegated- cant go there!
Andrew, I think my answers would be
Yes
No-one
No
Hopefully
Yes he tried a few times but didn’t quite have enough dosh. After he’s finished plundering our club he’ll probably have enough to go back with a successful offer.
Maybe Martin you have seen through his cunning plan and we will be eventually called Liverpool Reserves playing in the Conference Premier where we will be soon. Saunders will still be manager obviously(ex Liverpool) and Robinson is the first recruit. Hang on a bit sounds like a better option than what we are watching now!
Hey Mickey, that’s Mickey T from Bournemouth i presume? Your first post i think. Welcome aboard!
Coventry football club are being shafted because they do not own the Ricoh Arena and hence have to pay massive rent. The biggest long term risk to Wolves is that the same thing happens to us.One day Steve Morgan ,or his family, may sell off or even give away for a tenner the football club, which is Wolves 1986 Ltd but still keep for themselves,or sell off to another buyer at the market rate,Wolves Property Ltd , who own Molineux and Compton. Currently the rent that Wolves 1986 Ltd pay to Wolves Property Ltd is only a nominal sum,as far as I can see,But in future a new owner would want to charge a top market rent,as per the Coventry situation. This is not an immediate problem, but is something all Wolves fans should watch out for in the future. At one time Wolverhampton Council owned the lease to Molineux, but I believe Steve Morgan has now acquired the freehold or a thousand year lease.
Food for thought for sure Chris. The Council gave the club a 1,000 year lease on the stadium & surrounds plus planning permission for a hotel/leisure complex 2 or 3 years ago.
Not sure whether the lease is in Wolves F.C or Wolves Properties name. Following your reasoning however the implications could be devastating.
Ok,,we sack a manager…we don’t get a replacement with any message of inspiration, we sack poor coach with no experience when he gets us relegated, we take an expensive team crafted to graft huff and puff a trate made for the championship and not enough in premiership, then make them try and play a style of football made for cultured premier players with afore mentioned expensive grafters..
Then we ( after not spending money to meet the new “strategy” to get required cultured players) are surprised the huffing players are confused and out of their depth in playing the new passing style and start to lose… So we sack the manager and replace him with a chest beating fella whose qualification is to send a team down, but promises to bring back the huff and puff..then we a surprised when the team (without the onl? quality from last year, who were sold because we panicked at impending doom) actually can’t huff and puff cause they are like rabbits in headlights when we concede a goal….
So with a forecasted turnover going forward of £28million pretty much the wage bill and an owner with his cash and the cash of our best players tied up in house dealings we panic sell more players and replace with cheap lone players. Whilst letting several players run down contracts while we panic about drop in revenues, thus demotivating the players or letting them focus on getting a career after this circus…
So what happens to a CEO in charge of such a series of errors in judgment? One answer
Sack the fat man….we must insist he goes and Spends the millions he has taken from us…get the ft man out
You are right Lickeyww you could not make this stuff up.Makes me think, although I have never been in favour of before, that we need a director of football to advise Morgan, get rid of the fat man and Morgan make the financial decisions well he is supposed to be a businessman?
Attendances are dropping-so some fans have decided not to attend already.
That’s what happens. That’s why when we were successful we had huge crowds.
People are so fed up of Moron and particularly Greaseball.
Think chris h’s wise words are spot on.
Think Morgan has his own plan that is about cash.
Today I looked back at what Moron said about sacking SS.
HE SAID RESULTS WEREN’T GOOD ENOUGH…….
Well Steve what are you going to do now?
Anybody know how many early birds have been sold?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/wolverhampton-wanderers/9885512/Stench-of-failure-at-Wolverhampton-Wanderers-is-overpowering-as-successive-relegations-burn-bright.html
apologies if you have seen this already!
keep the pressure on guys, let get it in the financial pages that will be wear professional incompetence will be seen!
The seeds of doom were started after we stayed up in 2010/11 season , famous defeat to Blackburn which sent the Blue noses down , and we stayed up by the skin of our teeth. So what does the manager do , buys o’hara and no one else, team is strengthened straight away, WRONG. It was no where near an investment in a team that had just escaped relegation , the defence needed sorting out, our strikers weren’t scoring on a regular basis, we relied on Fletcher , Jarvis , for goals or assists. Our final season in the Premier is littered with cock-ups , a defeat to the A*****, painful , a manager appointed who isn’t a novice ( oops spelling mistake) is a novice , and the descent into the Npower Championship. Start of the season and we have Stale Solbakken as a new manager (who) , a foreign coach/manager with little knowledge of English football or what is required to get out of the championship , he tries to change the style of play. However the board have seen fit to let 3 mercenaries go , (Jarvis, Fletcher & Kightly, i wish West ham , Stoke and Those Mackem Bar stewards go down with the S****) and then bank the money , Stale then goes , after the Luton farce, and we get Dean Saunders from Doncaster , thru out this tale of despair Jez Moxey has exclaimed that Wolves will be a top 4 Premier league team with a stadium to match , and we won’t be a yo-yo club. So fast forward to tuesday gone , meeting the mighty Barnsley in a six pointer , and what happens 3 quarters of the team go missing , great 20 mins , and then we change tactics and what happens another defeat , and now we are the drop zone of the Npower Championship , a far cry from the premiership Moxey & Morgan . But luckily we are in profit and in fact we are probably one of the better of teams and should be ok for the new rules on financial stability when they start in a couple of years time. Thats great news by that time we will be in the Blue Square Premier League , perhaps thats the ambition of Morgan & Moxey. This club is in freefall. The team aren’t a team that have any kind of confidence , the manager hasn’t had the chance to kick out this cancer which is destroying this team, and the board are disgraceful , no one has the balls to stand up to Morgan or Moxey and kick out these two idiots. Protest at the next game , don’t buy shirts which have now been reduced to peanuts having just fleeced us last year for the new strip, early bird sales to rake up the Morgan empire and line Moxey’s pockets , this is a boil on our club which needs lancing , boycott the home games , go to the away games , boycott the clubshop , all the fans need to do this , i mean ALL THE FANS, let these players (i use the term loosely here) know they have let us down , but worst of all they have let Wolverhampton Wanderers down , the famous gold and black shirt worn by Billy Wright, Steve Bull , Dave Wagstaffe, Mike Bailey , etc
Spot on Tango and O’Hara was already on loan so the team wasn’t actually strengthened at all.
Well said Tango.
Moxey was half right – we aren’t a yo-yo club.
We’re just the ‘yo’ – going down and not coming up again.
My brief Overview On the Managers: Mccarthy in his third season in the Prem refused to change a formula that just wasnt working bizarrely his best season was achieved when he did change. TC just like a lot of Mccarthy’s players couldnt stand on his own two feet without him. Solbakken an interesting appointment with potential but he didnt do what it said on the tin – tried to cut out the huff and puff but didnt put in players to play possesion football. Saunders a ‘back to basics’ appointment with lower league pedigree who at best might stop the rot but hasnt.
Sorry to hammer more song lyrics on here people but when this just came on my random playlist I couldn’t resist…..it’s so fitting right now!
Nofx – Down with the ship
It could have been helped, it might have been saved
With me at the helm, I could have found ways
To keep it afloat and find a new course
But I steered the ship, right into the cliffs
The easy way out, a cowardly move
A short sighted plan made by a self-centered man
The crew (fans!) stayed with the ship and bailed as one
They didn’t know irreparable damage was done
They had so much pride and camaraderie
But that was all lost when they spotted me
Rowing to shore with treasure on board
A cowardly plan made by a self loathing man
Without regrets, without looking back
I choose to walk on the less beaten sociopath
With all the spoils of an island of one
I don’t need dynasty, I don’t need anyone
I knew the consequence when I plotted this trip
I’m not a man who’ll go down with the ship
So you’re the other NOFX fan!
Very apt indeed.
Everyone involved with Wolves – Owner, CEO, Manager, playing staff, coaching staff (possible exceptions being the tea ladies and the guys who sell match programmes) – should read this and then see if they can look at themselves in the mirror without feeling ashamed!
Actually Moxey will happily go down with the ship( relegation that is) as long as he keeps getting his obscene £1.19 million PER YEAR! salary.
1.19 million for total disaster. Unbelievable!
I don’t understand all this talk of a losing mentality ?? Hangover from PL relegation ??
We won 6 of our first 10 in this league with Solbakken. So that’s crap.
I think we won only 1 of the next 10..
So what happened about that time to change the mentality.. ?
Answers on a postcard..
Was the time terry connor left and stale right hand man installed
Yeah and then it got considerably worse when his left-hand man, the German guy, was installed. Never heard anything about him.
Did he ever take his hands out of his pockets ?
To be fair that was about the time that Pezsko and Boukari got injured completely unbalancing the team and leaving us with the prospect of Davis, Edwards or Foley on the wing!
When Stales signing were fit we won a few games when we were left with the rest we lose and continue to lose! That’s why it was ridiculous to sack him just when we’d reached the transfer window when he could get some more players in. Do we really think we would be in this much of a mess if we had more signings like Pezsko, Sako and Sigurdarsson? In my opinion it takes managers at least two transfer windows to make the key changes, the first brings in players that can have an immediate effect on style, by the second the manager has worked out which players from the original squad can work in the new system and so he can replace the others. Is it any surprise that Stale went so soon after revealing his transfer targets? I’d imagine the only player he found to be fit for purpose was Ikeme!
As for Saunders he proved himself an idiot with his first window and we will be in league 1 by the time of the next one.
His grandad bombed our chip shop!!
Open letter to Mr Steve Morgan,
As custodian of Wolves you are a disgrace. Sell me the club for 100 quid. Thats a 10X profit for you. I guarantee to RE invest 30 Mill in the club over 5 yrs and i will give you any bit of small land I can find so you can plonk a house on it. But please please fuck of.
2-1 to me Babies, thats my Babies you Liverpoool twat not you Babies. But as Victor please by all that is reasonable go away.
