It will surprise nobody to hear I’m disappointed Kenny Jackett has been relieved of his duties.
Not only because I believe in his abilities as a coach, but more so because I thought we needed him in the immediate.
With such sweeping revolution elsewhere his steady hand would have been an asset in at least guiding us through a turbulent interim period.
As it is we dive into the unknown, possibly with a coach with little to no Championship experience. And we all know how that ended last time.
But I don’t want to be the voice of doom in what are strange and exciting times, so perhaps this represents another big step towards something bigger and better?
Either way, the first managerial appointment of the Fosun era will have to work fast and without the benefit of a pre season to communicate his ideas.
It’s a tough ask.
Naturally the immediate favourites consist of domestic coaches currently out of work and names within Jorge Mendes’ phone book.
Dreamers would probably prefer an Andres Villas Boas to cement our position as Championship big hitters, whereas realists probably lean more towards Steve Bruce, a proven winner at this level.
Personally, I’m at a loss to even venture an opinion on where we go from here so will happily just come along for the ride.
More to follow on Kenny’s tenure in due course.
first and last time i’ll read this blog to hear your opinions if you believe in Jackett’s coaching abilities !!!
Goodbye then Eldervo, we’ll miss you.
Kenny Jackett did one hell of a job when one takes all the injuries into consideration. His overall success rate of 43,43 percent wins speaks for it self.
– Walter Zenga on the other hand has a win rate of 36,7 percent.
– Short preparation time could prove fatal for Wolves ( with the Solbakken saga still in mind). A poor start can ruin everybodies dream of direct promotion. And Zenga’s lack of experience with championship football doesn’t make it better. But we can’t know for sure of course since Zenga has all the means to his disposal to succeed when it comes to player material.
… and one last thing: Walter Zenga’s style of play as a manager has been described as defensive and boring :=(
Thomas as I have just posted on the previous thread, this is a shabby way to treat a decent man who put the pride back in our club. Jeff Shi clearly lied when he said he and Kenny agreed on team strengthening and could work together.
Let’s wait and see if these new owners feed us any more crap. Like you this has tainted the new found euphoria for me.
All the best Kenny and thanks for everything.
The new owners never once said jacket was the man to take us further ,get real everyone he knew exactly what was going to happen and will have been well paid to say nothing,pa
He will have another job before the start of the season.
As I stated on the last topic, Good luck Kenny! A gentleman to the end. I agree Thomas Morgan out moxey out now Kenny out, billionaire owners with players signing from benfica and athletico, £20 million pound players who knows what the hell is happening. But I believe Fosun group do and it’s definitely a statergy long thought out. Don’t panic out of darkness we are creeping into the light.
I think continueity would have benefited us most in the manager department – I hope I’m wrong.
I would have enjoyed to watch how Jackett could do as a manager with star players in the team. Walter Zenga may succeed, but I fear a slow start.
Interesting, very very interesting.
Agree Brompton.
Interesting times.
Moxey and Jackett gone, which was inevitable.
We are a club in transition with new owners who can afford to make some mistakes.
Fosun can invest 20 – 30 million a season in Wolves and still it will be no dent to the small change in their ‘wealth.’
Zenga looks enthusiastic which you could never accuse Jackett of…
Having supported Wolves since 1959 this takeover opens up huge possibilities for our future.
Jeff Shi will have us in the Premier league by next season.
Had to be – Good luck to Kenny in the future. We need a fresh start all round. Retaining Kenny was never going to work in the way the club needs to go forward. They tried if not for very long I dont blame them for that.
These are exciting and scary times. We shoul never forget what Kenny Jackett did for us at our lowest eb. A true gentleman in an age of money and greed.
Can’t help but feel excited for the future, but fear that ‘our’ club will never be the same.
Up the Wolves!
Thomas, agree with your sentiments.
Kenny is a decent man who had to work with two machiavellian characters in Morgan and Moxey.
Saying that I thought he lost it towards the middle of last season with some strnage team selections but working with those two I can hardly blame him.
Good luck Kenny and thanks for 2.5 good years.
What are you talking about apprentice Wordsmith. If Jackett had done his job despite the injuries Morgan would,nt have been abused by oiks on the terraces and in blogs, then resign and putting the club up for sale a by-product being this sacking of Jackett.
Have you no blame Shakespeares Sister just continuing with one way abuse ay ?
An Irish Wolves comment about Jeff Shi, today.
Thats not a good start for the new regime………saying what Jeff Shi openly stated a few days ago about KJ and then turning around and sacking him a few days later….in my eyes thats not being very honest. He would have known that his exit was imminent. He should have stated that talks between him and KJ were continuing for the time being. Instead, he was what’s commonly referred to in Australia, as pissing in KJ’s pocket! I don’t trust him from now on, and furthermore, from my dealings that I have had with Chinese people upto now…………par for the course!
http://www.rte.ie/…/805919-walter-zenga-takes-the-reins-at…/?
Captain Bob, Sir Shifty and Pirate Morgan all interested in lining their pockets.
There was clearly some sort of internal clash going on. Press reports of us signing some of Mendes’ boys did not fit with reports of interest in the likes of Forshaw, Stearman, and Marshall. I’ll be sorry to see Jackett go, and think he deserved better than to be treated like this. So the new era begins.
If you want to get into the premier you need to change, Kenny Jacket was only a league one manager, he made some bad decisions last season. We can thank him for getting us back into the championship but he is not the manager to take us forward, all the best and thank you Kenny.
As Kenny has been deemed ‘not up to the standard required’ surely this clear-out should also include Thelwell and Daley?
I certain the culling isn’t over yet ….
Welcome to a new plastic age. Cold decisions and teams of mercenaries bought off the peg.
This may well be the coming of a new age but it’s becoming increasingly obvious that it’s the end of something too.
Generations of teenagers in China as yet unborn destined to become Wolves fans?
It’ll be a loff for a while ow it our kid, then it ‘ll start to pale and it’ll be ‘it ay like the owd days’.
FC Wolves of Wolverhampton anyone? ha ha ha
Good luck kj I’m sure he has received a very nice golden handshake to soften the blow
I won’t miss his pre or post match comments that’s for sure , anyway this is way too exciting to dwell , August may be a real dogs breakfast but hopefully things settle down after and progress is made , can’t help thinking these guys already know who is coming in to take over
Why on earth was he not sacked s week ago? Feels like early indecision. Who will be in the dugout today? I’m feeling nervous but no shortage excitement
Agree on much said about Kenny’s demeanour but he put too many players on a merry-go-round of being picked, dropped, changed position, sent out on loan, brought back to be picked again and so on. In the end it was not just the players who were in danger of falling off.
Glad Jackett has been relieved purely because he and his team last season was DULL.You got what you wanted Morgan and Moxey abusers new owners, the eagle has landed, sorry the chicken has come home to roost.Roll on the completely foreign Wolves manager and team that you wanted, for the instant success like Man City. All that remains is for you to continue, your non-stop moaning and await the Molineux re-naming, to the Golden Palace Imperial Restaurant WV1.
Remember Wolves is a business and not your business, you are just supporters.Yu Waaaaaa.
I thought he would have been given time, but realistically I was being a tad naive. Whilst his replacement has not been named I am sure they know already.
Glad to see you on here Amanda, please stay for the ride, we aint all bad guys.
Well the club is a business in the end like all others. If you believe otherwise then you’re deluded I’m afraid. While the duplicity regarding the treatment of KJ may seem unpleasant it does demonstrate the single-minded determination of Jeff Shi and the new regime. A good many of posters here, perhaps the majority, are of the opinion that while KJ was a decent bloke, he really didn’t have the quality to operate at the levels that are now the target and he, KJ, will have been royally compensated I’m sure. If you don’t mind remaining a lower level “nice family” club then you’ll be uncomfortable with the manner of the dismissal, but if you seriously wanted the club to show real ambition and move on to bigger and better things then you’ll appreciate that in today’s football world there’s little room for sentiment.
The question now is will Walter Zenga prove to be an appropriate appointment? I remember him as a competent but somewhat average coach in Serie A, so the choice is a bit surprising to me. Maybe and hopefully Jorge Mendes knows him well and has confidence in him. I hope so!
‘ his team last season was DULL’
Yes, we all got that. But what about the previous season, and the season before that …? And have you even thought about WHY there was such a difference between the first two seasons and last season ?
Walter Zenga ????
I don’t know whether this is the natural wolves fan in me but I see this as a terribly dangerous move. So far since the fosun takeover virtually no signings, macdonald our talisman for 2 and a half of the last 3 seasons gone, talk not going away about coady and iorfa, jackett gone with a week until kick off. Based on the current outlook I would suggest that we will be lucky to be outside of the bottom 3 by Christmas not too three. We don’t seem to be building steadily like a sensible club would do instead we are being run like its a game of football manager.
I think it’s great testament to Kenny that we went from being a club when he started that was expecting a third straight relegation to a team that was dissapointed that we didn’t manage to challenge for promotion to the premier league. Let’s face it had the last two seasons been the other way round (consolidation followed by narrowly missing out on playoffs) no one would be complaining. The fact that he’s done that with one of the lowest transfer and wage budgets in the league is testament to the guy. I for one enjoyed the fact that we were tending to buy young and talented British based players, rather than expensive foreign imports. The fact that fosun group are intending (if the rumour mill is to be believed) spend 16.8 million on one player, how many dicko’s, McDonald’s, afobe’s and graham’s could that have got us under jackett? Players that build a team rather than being crippled under the pressure of their transfer fee.
I am one worried wolves fan.
Was a class goal keeper, have no idea about management.
Who is Walter Zenga Thomas please.
Ex top Italian International goalkeeper in management.
Has only a 36.2% win ratio.
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/walter-zenga/profil/trainer/1799
This is revolution not evolution!!
As it was inevitable it is better that it happens now rather than 3 months into the season with KJ struggling to adapt to players that he did not want in the first place.
A new ‘big name’ manager will almost certainly help to attract top players to the club so it is good news as far as I am concerned.
Quick look he doesn’t stay around long, so we may have 3 managers before Christmas?
The new owners never once said jacket was the man to take us further ,get real everyone he knew exactly what was going to happen and will have been well paid to say nothing,pa
I think you will find they said everything to indicate he would be given an opportunity to carry on. There is a correct way to treat decent people and this isn’t It
How do you know he was a decent bloke? Never actually said anything in interviews, and probably pissed off a fair few players by the looks of things.
I met him several times. He is a decent man
I met him several times. Not sure if you have. I found him to be a decent guy.
Jacket knew exactly what was going to happen and will have been paid massive money to shut up! No sympathy,
I agree with Thomas’s comments.
Re Walter Sent, good goalkeeper but looking at Wiki his managerial career looks a bit patchy. Seems a bit left field, I was expecting a Portuguese or Spanish manager.
At least it gives us something else to debate.
Walter Zenga confirmed. We know move on.
I agree Harmo Jackett could retire tomorrow and will never have to worry about paying another bill, with his pay off he’s probably a millionaire when you think there’s people in this country working and still have to use food banks then it put things in perspective.
He reached his level but as I blogged earlier if he’d stood up to M and M over funding thinks might have been different.
Thank you and good luck Kenny.
I’m probably in a minority on this blog who still supported Jackett and although I do accept some of the criticisms from last season I thought a lot of the problems were not of his making. For me he still had enough goodwill left from his first two seasons to be given a fair crack at this season. That is all academic now.
New owners generally mean new managers so this is no surprise and we can only hope Fosun have made the right decision and got the right man in Walter Zenga. I must admit I know nothing about him and after the failed Solbakken season I was hoping for a manager with experience of English football but obviously I hope he is successful. It’s only when you see how the new manager does can you judge if getting rid of the old one was the right decision!
I’m a bit nervous of all the foreign faces and the involvement of Mendes. Hopefully we will retain our identity and the best of the current squad and the talented kids from the academy will be given a fair chance in the new regime.
UTW
3 down ……….1 to go …!
I’m worried. Portsmouth, QPR, Leeds and others have all had money pumped in via a revolution, what are they doing now? I’m sorry to see Kenny go, and again, I wish him well for the future. A polite, honest, decent quietly spoken chap, a rarity in the modern game.
15 clubs managed never lasted more than year and a half….
Blimey , hard to keep up at this rate , strange choice I think when you look at his cv. Maybe as a brilliant keeper he may be o new ‘safe pair of hands’ !!
Walter Zenga – that came from left field! I must say I am of the opinion that KJ needed to be replaced and was quite excited by some of the names linked for that position – but this one has stumped me. He seems to have been sacked by most clubs he managed and not lasted more than 2 years anywhere. The Olympiakos guy (Mendez?) sounded absolutely spot on. I think I would even have preferred Bruce to Zenga. Anyway all very exciting.
‘The Olympiakos guy (Mendez?) sounded absolutely spot on’
Yeah – Marco Silva. I’d take him any day over Zenga. Hopefully he’ll still be looking for a job when Zenga gets the chop at Xmas.

25 Managers in my lifetime – some brilliant ones like Cullis, Allen, McGarry, Turner and McCarthy and some dreadful ones like Docherty, Hoddle, Solbakken, Connor and Saunders.
Onwards and upwards!
Joel Campbell from Arsenal?
McCarthy brilliant? Not for me. Like KJ, OK at a level, Championship for McCarthy, League 1 for Kenny, but not above.
Lol, I was expecting some flak for that one PeteRobbo. I just think that Mick inherited a shambles left by the dreadful Hoddle and got us to the play offs less than 12 months later and promoted as champions the following season – he brought in people like Foley, Kightly, Henry, Jarvis, Ebanks-Blake (all virtually unheard of at the time) and played exciting attacking football. He kept us up for three seasons during which time we beat Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs etc despite not being financially backed by Morgan to the degree that was required. Above all though I think he was a perfect fit in terms of his personality. No nonsense, straight talking, dry sense of humour, siege mentality etc. The ‘we shall not be moved’ anthem from the 2008/09 promotion season was very much him.
I also included Graham Turner who was brilliant for us but again people say he was fine in the 3rd and 4th divisions but wasn’t good enough in the 2nd – doesn’t stop him from being regarded as a brilliant Wolves manager.
Obviously they all pale into insignificance against Cullis but who wouldn’t?
Yep, fair reply Bedford. I only meant that, just like KJ, while he was a straight-talking pragmatist, he had a clear ceiling to his level I think, but you’re right, at his level he did very well for us alright and those players you listed read well don’t they?
On reflection, I also think I should revise KJ’s level upwards to Championship from League 1. After all, he did very well for us in the Championship when we were unlucky to miss out on the play-offs.
Anyway, right now my enthusiastic bubble has been well and truly burst by the appointment of Zenga and the seemingly over-hasty scramble to acquire little known foreign players at significant expense. Mendes will do very well out of it of course and Jeff Shi seems well unqualified to gainsay him. Two alarming words dominate my thinking right now – Leeds and United!!
‘shambles left by the dreadful Hoddle’
True, Hoddle’s end was totally uninspiring, but he did get us playing some decent stuff in his early days.
July 30, 2016
So maybe it went something like this ……
Julen Loptegui lined up for Wolves head coach whilst the t’s were crossed and i’s dotted for the change of ownership.
Spanish job comes up for Julen and he can’t say no ( can you really blame him ?! ).
There is no plan B; there simply hasn’t been the time or opportunity with Wolves’ ownership in a state of flux.
With no other immediate choice, the new owners reluctantly back Kenny, but his position is severely undermined now the cat is out of the bag and he knows he would’ve been replaced were it not for that pesky Spanish job.
Roll on a few days – lots of activity in the transfer market that KJ has no control over further undermines his position.
Crucially the new owners have had a chance to approach some new potential candidates and now have a plan B and maybe even a C.
With a week to go to the start of the new season, a home friendly v premier league opposition and desire to unveil one or two new signings and confidence that the new regime can put their own man in charge quickly, they decide there is no advantage to keeping KJ on any longer and put him out of his misery.
Just my hypothesis, and I wish KJ all the best.
So now we have one new signing confirmed, another almost delivered, a potential club record signing waiting in the wings, a plethora of player names linked with the club and the prospect of a top manager joining the roller coaster ride called “Wolves”.
Deep breaths ………..
And then along came Walter Zenga.
I’m dizzy.
I been involved in a few takeovers and my conclusion is: the ONLY /best solution is to sack them all and start again. Nobody likes change. FOSUN must been involved in a hundred takeovers!
Everybody got to go!
– The board which deals with politics, yes.
– I’m confident Jackett could have done a very good job with world class players in the team. Last year our whole attacking line where rocked by injuries and every manager would have suffered from such a nightmare of injuries. The first season in championship we played very attracting football and missed out on the playoffs on goal difference. An excellent first season in the championship.
– I don’t fear we’ll end up like Leeds success wise, because Fosun will just correct it and appoint another manager (eh!), unlike Leeds, a good one.
Zenga who saw that coming.
Strange appointment.
I’m excited about the appointment! I can see lots of Wolves fans on other boards are disappointed but perhaps the ‘big names’ mentioned were a tad unrealistic.
Zenga certainly comes with a wealth of experience so I’m looking forward to seeing what he does. Fans should also remember that he won’t be working under the ‘normal’ restraints that Kenny was. This is a completely new era.. new rules.
Yes, If his style of play fits the championship bill. The defensive part of the game is probably the foundation of the Zenga philosophy. Defensive and boring are some tags labeled to his style of play. Defensive solidity has always been the trademark of Italian football in general, and that may explain why Italian managers have performed well in english football (my impression at least. Di Canio is an exception of course).
I couldn’t agree more Thomas. A big leap into the unknown. Who is this Walter zenga? Let’s hope he knows what he’s doing but it’s going to an interesting start to the season. I’d like to think he can bring HIS players in not just mendez’ clients
I personally don’t believe Jeff or Jez are running the show.
Jeff is the face of Fosun and is making the decisions based on what he is being told by his “Friend” Mendes..
Mendes is running the show. Poor Jeff is just going along with it Mendes is telling him what he needs…
Could go either way, but rest assured if Mendes messes up and it doesn’t work these Chinese guys wont be frightened to change it so Mendes better get it right.
Fosun………..
They are the company that spent £1.2 Billion Yesterday acquiring Indian Pharma, (biggest drug company in India) which must put them up the pecking order in wealth and value. (They, Fosun, are already the biggest drug company in China)
So we must surely now be No 2 richest club inthe UK based on company value. Iv’e a feeling they must know what they are doing.
Don’t forget if you want Rainbows you have to endure some rain. If you want the stars you have to look upwards.
So it’s done, it’s certainly not finished and it’s for the Long term not the interim. Good Luck Kenny, you did your best.
The King is dead, Long live the King. (Sorry Clive, echoing your words not stealing them)
If you think that was a busy 24 hours, wait till you get to Molineux today, it certainly ain’t finished. Compton is on lock down, they want to do a big launch and i’m sure it’s a coming.
Onwards & Upwards.
Whilst I am not surprised that Kj has been given the golden boot I am somewhat disappointed in the way this has been handled. KJ is a decent and honourable person and the new owners should have been up front with him at the start rather than give him false hope only to sack him.
Whatever some people think/thought of KJ he was our saviour in a time when the club was in a downward spiral. He came, he saw and he cleaned the club up and produced a team that brushed aside all who dared to challenge them. He came so close to getting us into the play-off’s after promotion from Div 1 only to be let down last season by a chairman who did not back him financially, the result of which we struggled to stay in this division.
I will be forever grateful to the man.
Now we move on and we must get behind Walter Zenga.
This club has the potential to be a giant, let’s hope we become one.
Kenny did the same thing to some players so why should he be treated any better than he treated them?
Please, someone answer that for me.
What? Bought them on the Monday, told them he was looking forward to working with them and shipped them out late night on the Friday?
I agree that some of the decisions KJ made with some of the players were hard to understand at times but I believe that KJ was straight with them.
Gates were falling, season ticket sales were falling we were becoming a forgotten club. I am still on board.Usually agree with Nige these days if it doesnt work out i expect they will go again with someone else
Regular readers will know I was firmly in the ‘give KJ a chance’ camp. But now he’s gone and we move on. But Walter Zenga?
I’m firmly of the opinion that Kenny could have taken us where we wanted to be if he wasn’t hamstrung by the financial restrictions which would have prevented Walter coming here at all. A quick look at his managerial record shows previous success some time ago, but at clubs who are relative giants in their own leagues. His recent record less impressive.
It was obvious the writing was on the wall for KJ but I’m very dubious on Mr Shi’s choice of replacement. No experience of english football, let alone the rough and tumble Championship.
However, they will, I’m sure, have a plan.
Either way, Senor Zenga will now receive my full support despite my reservations and my belief in Kenny’s abilities will sadly never be put to the test.
Good luck for the future Kenny and thanks for the good times.
I’m obviously pleased…
KJ really didn’t have a hope to hang in there it’s all too much for him and it doesn’t take an Einstein to see the influence of Mendes..
You buy the club Fosun -I’ll advise etc.
This is a new era I know a lot of us are shell shocked the club is being turned upside down but perhaps it’s really what’s needed – a complete new broom and sweep and incidentally nobody is therfor safe..
DB must be shitting himself with others too but if we pile in quality players then by the time Xmas comes we will know if this sort of gamble and strategy is paying off..
We can’t criticise Shi for playing safe because he ain’t..
All we need is say three really good players… Talisca would help and the rest we build round them and for me that means a no 5 and a new Captain.
If we are to cease dreaming regarding joining the PL then the changes happening and the changes that will happen is representative of just how far off we have been to bring the club into a potential PL status ..
Money in this case is everything too..
COTNW
(Come on the new wolves)
Nicely put Stevie. I would only add that we will need to see a couple of proficient strikers coming in as we have to ensure we score goals, which without you can’t win a game.
Wow! Talk about bursting out of darkness into a blinding light!
All respect to Kenny Jacket for picking Wolves up by the bootstraps following relegation to League 1 and taking them back to the Championship. This last week he was notable by his absence, including the Northampton friendly. So maybe it is best to have a clean break.
Good luck to Walter Zenga. I remember him as the Italian goalkeeper at the 1990 World Cup. He has had some successes in club management since then but not stayed too long at any of them.
The next few months are certainly going to be interesting!
Genuinely saddened to hear the news.Best of luck Kenny.
Mr Shi, the smiling assassin.
The iron fist has been withdrawn from the velvet glove and landed firmly below Kenny Jackett’s belt.
I will remember Kenny with great fondness in spite of his sometimes strange decisions last season and am sorry that he will never get the chance to prove his true worth.
It was only a season or so ago that the whole of Molineux echoed to the sound of “Kenny Jackett’s barmy army!”
That, unfortunately, is the fate of all managers eventually.
So it goes.
Zenga??? Where the f*** did that come from?
Question for me is does this guy have the skill set to get a club out of the Championship? Doesn’t look like it to me but we have to give him our support despite any misgivings.
I go back to a point I made a few days ago – we need a football man on the board to advise on appointments like this, otherwise, the new owners are being led totally by a super rich and powerful agent that doesn’t have the best interests of the club at heart
I think you’re right that Senor Mendes doesn’t necessarily have the interests of Wolves at heart. He has the interests of Senor Mendes at heart. However, if too many of his recommendations turn out to be bum steers if would quickly sour his relationship with Fosun, who must be one of his wealthiest clients. That certainly wouldn’t be in his own best interests.
Dead right Linden.
And I can see a few more lively discussions ahead with Steve Showcase.
Walter Zenga!
Really?
Can I just point out that Zenga has won a lot more as a manager than Jackett.
Give him a chance before you start worrying about nothing.
And he was widely tipped to be the favourite for the Southampton manager’s job so he must have something.
A few random thoughts,……………….
I like the fact that Zenga is described as passionate and lives for success.
I am impressed that at 56 he has a 34 year old wife (his third!)
I am looking forward to Ikeme being made captain and Batth replaced
I am excited at the prospect of us using all three substitutes in a match.
I am ecstatic at the prospect of us signing quality players, paying proper wages and being able to compete financially with the so called big boys.
I’m in heaven!
Welcome to the world of the Chinese way to do business. I remember from a few years ago a senior manager at a USA Telecoms company saying to me at a conference he only trusted a Chinese guy when he held against a wall by the throat and had his balls in a vice at the same time. We are in a new era guys we have to live with it.
I thought KJ should have gone when the takeover was announced, when he didn’t I assumed he would get 10 games or maybe to xmas at least. AS many on here have said a nice guy but out of his depth above league 1. I doubt he would have been able to coach some of the quality players we hope we are getting. Nice guy who has probably been paid a large sum to go. And he deserves it for some of the shit he had to put up with from the two M’s.
Who will be next, Thelwell or Daley, probably both but we shall see.
I must admit I did not expect to see Zenga appointed and am somewhat underwhelmed by him but hey ho they must have some sort of plan, but the inscrutability will keep it from us.
Exciting times ahead, often I suspect a rollercoaster, my prediction for what it’s worth is Zenga will be a complete failure and will be gone by the end of December, failure will not be an option with the new owners.
Onwards and Upwards.
‘my prediction for what it’s worth is Zenga will be a complete failure and will be gone by the end of December’
I concur.
Great post BedfordWolf.. super positive! 😀
Hands up all of us who wish we were going into the new season with falling attendances , negative ( don’t lose ) tactics , minimum wage constraints , apathy , and being told that to expect success is unrealistic by the tight fisted men in charge ?
And hands up all those who are enjoying all the excitement of so many possibilities ?
OK. Now we’ve all got our hands up…….what next. 🙂
Does anyone have any idea what kind of tactics Senor Zenga is likely to employ. Italian football has the reputation of being dour and defensive but I can’t think that would be favoured given the quality we can now recruit.
Don’t you knock my mate Walter.. DG …
he doesn’t get confused, can change tactics at half time, motivates players to stay..develops new ones..and doesn’t substitute with three mins to go ..
seriously there won’t be many here who doesn’t understand that KJ wasn’t up to it ..I blame Stu Wolf for putting the boot in when he shook Shi’s hand..
I was wanting ABV but we can afford anyone in theory particularly if we can get in that PL..
Zenga is as dispensable as KJ was ..ok …a lot less so then (lol)
I want what Bedfords on……
I cannot believe some of the comments today!
We’ve been screaming and kicking for years to get rid of the two twats.
They are gone.
We’ve been calling for serious investment, to get us in the Prem, to compete with the “big boys”
We’ve got it.
My spies tell me that in many games in Jackett’s second season, when we nearly made the play offs, we struggled to win, which says that if we had been promoted, we would have been instantly relegated, and in a far worse situation.
We have a new owner, manager, and players, with more to come.
We had no say in getting rid of the old regime, yet it happened.
We had no say in the new ownership, but it’s a done deal.
Isnt this what we all wanted?
AND THERE ARE STILL SOME ON HERE FUCKING MOANING AND BITCHING!!!
Unfuckinbelievable!!!!
This is the ONLY way we are going to be able to compete in the Prem.
The old adage if you cant beat ’em etc etc has never been so appropriate.
We are the greatest fans in the world, but we must also be in the top five for complaining!!!
Some people are never going to be satisfied.
Apart from the players, nothing should be left of the previous management structure.
Out with the old, in with the new.
And if it dont work, off with their heads and start again!!
I, for one, am pumped up, like a kid in a candy store, over the moon, thrilled, on top of the world and all the other sayings.
Shit, I’m that excited I would even kiss Amanda!!!!
Lets all get behind the team, we are in for a ride of a lifetime!!!
Weeee heeee
Fuck off west brom!!!!!!!!
Amanda Hugandkiss?
I was expecting a European coach, who could work within the recruitment system they obviously have planned but also was expecting someone with a more impressive record given the funds they have available. But hey ho, hold onto your bits and enjoy the ride, it looks like its going to be interesting, fingers crossed its also going to be successful.
Absolutely fucking ridiculous
Ha , nice one wolfstroker , I didn’t think that one through?
I don’t think anything will surprise me now.
Although, if they turn out next week with ‘Kamagra’ on the front of their shirts I might raise an eyebrow or something 😉
Dear all, I’m an avid reader of the blog out here in Japan but this is my first comment. I truly hope Zenga proves me wrong but I can’t help being concerned. Zenga? Done absolutely NOTHING as a manager for the last 10 seasons. I liked Jackett, steadily went about his business in an understated manner, picked us back up when we were down and was given nothing money wise last season to help us challenge. A gentleman’s wager says Zenga won’t be at the helm in May. He’s (was?) a name and that is all.
Yes my old mucker London thats exactly what this is and i am havin it !
Spot on Bedford Wolf and Clive.
Our beloved club has muddled along for far too long without any real direction let’s be honest.
Arrived back home from early morning swim and BINGO for the first time in yonks the news feed on Sky actually headlined Wolves. Coach out – New coach – players coming in – players possibly coming in –
Never had porridge tasted so good sitting on the sofa. Will it go tits up? No idea – but at least the right noises are being made backed up by some pretty hardline actions. Great!! More to the point I cannot imagine for the life of me our new owners allowing the club to stagnate again under their watch.
I know we all have dreams for the club we support and sure enough Premier League stability and eventually Champions League would be just magic. A dream!
However I also harbour one simple wish – a visit to the Handsworth border to the Hovel and a 6 0 mullering of the stripey wankers.
I kid ye not I would die a very happy man to erase once and for all the 5 1 drubbing we received in our last Prem season.
I was working in Oldbury at the time literally in the shadow of those mocking bent as buggery floodlights. You can imagine the piss taking – which still goes on today. I even had a DVD of the game presented to me “Orange Crush”. Orange fucking crush I as you.
Yes we will hopefully have bigger fish to fry eventually but for those of us who lived and worked in the BC for most of our lives we dream of ramming if back down their “orrible scrawny infested throats past their graveyard stumpy teeth.
Exciting times ahead? You bet!
BOG
It is baffling that anyone can see this as a good move.
We have sacked a manager with one of the highest win percentages in the club’s history and replaced him with someone who has managed at 15 clubs, including three in the middle east, and only once managed to stay at a club for longer than a year.
We have sacked a manager whose impressive win percentage was achieved despite last season managing a squad crippled by injury and chronic under-investment. A manager who it is claimed is ‘only good enough for league 1’, despite winning that league with a record divisional points tally and missing out on the championship playoffs at the first time of asking by a few goals worth of goal difference. Whatever your thoughts on his team selection, tactics or substitutions, the above is inarguable fact, and a clear indication of his ability.
We have gone from being a club with a real focus on bringing through young talent to a handy money-making conduit for a so-called super-agent, and have gone from a British sporting institution to a 100% foreign-owned commodity.
I am a season ticket holder and will continue to be so, I have my ticket for Rotherham on the opening weekend and I will continue to support the club and hope for success. I feel completely deflated by the last week though, and deeply worried about what lies ahead.
Yep, there’s a lot of meat in what you say Stephen.
I take your points and agree with most of them but there is a problem. As lovely as it is to bring through the youngsters and the principle is absolutely sound, you won’t find success at the top level that way in the modern age. I’m afraid only lots of money spent wisely will do that.
As Wolves fans we’ve been starved of success for too long to look this gift horse in the mouth, no matter how distasteful some of us may find the methodology.
My main contention is whether this is a gifthorse.
I absolutely agree that lots of money spent wisely is the route to success in modern football. But wealthy ownership is not the same as lots of money spent wisely.
I sincerely hope we emulate the examples of Bournemouth, Watford and Leicester, all of whom have invested heavily and now have exciting and competitive Premier League squads.
However, the first decision made by Fosun Group suggests to me that we are more likely to follow the examples of Blackburn, Leeds, Forest or Charlton. All under wealthy ownership, all frequently changing managers, all consistently mediocre or worse.
That is my opinion, and I hope I am proved wrong.
Agree with Clive. Most wolves fans wanted change, now we’ve got it, some are still moaning. No doubt the next 6 months or so will be a roller coaster ride, or maybe some are just happy with a seesaw? Welcome to the real world of football, it is a business, pure and simple, if the new manager fails, he will be replaced, until success arrives, ala Man city. UTW.
Just remember, rich people in China get that way by screwing over the poor. They have no concept of workers rights or health and safety.
They will do whatever they are allowed to do to make money and be successful.
And…………. your point is?
Take a look at BHS and that scumbag Cur Phillip Green, Pot kettle, China doesn’t have the monopoly on screwing folk over.
Take a look at what that “Cur Phillip Green” has done to BHS, China does not have the Monopoly on Scumbags.
Poor Kenny, did nothing wrong. Wonderful even with such limited resources. Should have been given a chance. Another stale solbakken to take over?
One thing Iv enjoyed lately is a real lack of speculation from such football powerhouses like palace and Bournemouth trying to pinch our best players , funny that !
I am just reflecting all today’s posts when I say i am confused by the last week’s events. But mainly in a good way. At least we’re all interested again: not much was worse than the apathy which set in last season.
Remember Zenga is a coach not a manager, maybe KJ couldn’t accept that role so was sacrificed. For all I know maybe coaching is what Zenga is good at leaving Mendes to act as our chief recruiter. Times change: we as supporters have to accept a new reality and if that reality brings major success I for one am all for it.
Hankering after a time long gone is what got us out of the EU. Let’s get on with how things are now and welcome a new but sometimes disturbing future which I for one thinks can only be a million times better than the M and M years.
Indeed – Zenga is a coach and it looks like he’ll take the players he’s given by management. Mendes players for a Mendes coach, is my guess. He’ll need to do a lot better than his record suggests in a totally unfamiliar environment. Solbakken mk2?? And the E&S headline is right – for KJ, an undignified end for a dignified man.
i think this will all go like them cheap imported chinese christmas lights, they will go “boom and burst into flames” lol
Exit the Quiet Man. Enter Mendes’s Man.
My hunch is that Zenga has the passion that Kenny is lacking. Zenga’s prior record it nothing to write home about admittedly, but give him a fair chance. There must be a good reason why he was appointed.
There is no dignified way to sack anyone. It wasn’t a bolt from the blue, Kenny has been invisible since the takeover was announced. He probably knew his fate all week. If he’d had the balls to challenge Morgan/Moxey a year ago about transfer funds, who knows where we would be now. Sadly Kenny sleep-walked into last season and meekly accepted his fate. Once Morgan put the club up for sale, Kenny’s days were numbered. It was only a question of time.
Lighten up everyone, very exciting date are here.
– To Jacketts defense I’d rather say he ran out of options, due to all the injuries, and managed to get decent result out of the few resources he had (a lot better than Mourinho for instance which had world stars like Falcao on the bench). Injuries on Dicko, Zyro, J.Graham and Batth, just to mention a few, ultimately sealed his faith. Such lack of fortune and fans dismay may also explain his “lack of passion”, cause he hadn’t many options.
The appointment of Zenga smells a bit like a “panic buy”, but one can’t really know for sure which way the ball will roll. Good luck to Walter an Co! Up the Wolves!
Yes “panic buy” seems very appropriate as Walter’s track record as a coach is appalling and worrying really:
http://www.transfermarkt.com/walter-zenga/profil/trainer/1799
How Jeff Shi can say that Zenga has a good track record as a player and a coach is beyond me. In fact it’s nonsense. As a player yes, but as a coach? Could not be further from the truth.
– Yeah, and foreigners have struggled to cope with championship before. With players of high international quality he should have a fair chance to prove his worth, with his experience as player and manager, and hopefully bags of tactical knowledge, in mind :=)
Italian managers have traditionally done well in premiership. Zola did ok in championship.
4-0 drubbing from Swansea but weakened team in second half. In some ways looks like Kenny left sometime ago. Big job to get some heart back into the team.
Stephen – I think you are absolutely spot on with your hunch re the early signs of our new ownership and how this is likely to play-out, as has been seen recently with Blackburn, Leeds etc.
The vast majority of us have been crying out for the kind of investment that now appears imminent – and I for one, am certainly enthused to see where this takes us.
However, whilst Fosun are undoubtedly extremely successful investment operators, it is completely bonkers that our entire recruitment policy (both player and management) appears to be based on the say-so of a Portugese agent.
Hopefully, the gamble with pay off, however, if it doesn’t, I hope Fosun are humble enough to accept this and begin to develop a business model of recruitment that is based on a much broader approach.
Whatever happens, the future certainly won’t uneventful and dull.
If KJ did a good job keeping us up last
season looks a lot tougher now where the squad is today.
Looks a lot easier with the money Mr Zenga can spend though.
Listening to Wolves player for Wolves versus Swansea the Wolves defence seemed very poor (a nutmeg on Danny B!!), WZ was in the stands hopefully he can sort that out.
Either The E&S or me has gone barking bananas.
They have a story about Kenny Jackett being the 12th longest serving Wolves manager…
And a questionnaire asking if we think he’ll make the top ten.
I don’t think so, what do you reckon?
http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2016/07/30/kenny-jackett-leaves-12th-on-wolves-hitlist/
Sad to see KJ go. Poor performance today. Massive gulf in class between our squad & Swansea’s.
Walter has a big job to do. Ennis was promising today liked him.
Too early to predict how this season will go. But it’ll either be a pigs ear or hopefully a lot better.
Don’t seem to me like the best decision in the world to appoint a coach with a worse win ratio than the one you sack!
Maybe this is smart or maybe not.
Zenga??? Massive massive gamble !!!
Perhaps Jeff thought Mendes said Wenger
In the depths of despair, players, club and fans in open warfare, the team in free fall I really feared for Wolves future, there seemed no way to stop the rot. Then Steve Morgan made the one decision that he got right and appointed Kenny Jackett. The rest is history, promotion, missing out on a play off place, those are the memories that will remain of his tenure for me. Yes, last season he seemed to have lost his way but looking back, with transfers, injuries and club put up for sale, we were lucky to stay in the division or perhaps not luck but Kenny’s ultra cautious team selections. I for one will be forever indebted to Kenny for putting my club back together and rekindling my hope and dreams for the future, thanks KJ for all that you have done and I wish you and your family all the best for the future.
Folks just cut the abuse these guys are soon Gonna get fed up with it like
Morgan and Sir Jack
Kenny deserves our utmost respect for the job he did for the most part of his tenure and above all for being a decent bloke, which should count for something.
Yes things went a bit sour last season but he was also given a very tough hand, losing Sako, Dicko and Afobe. Who wouldn’t struggle losing that? That being said, tactics and subs did frustrate at times but his time should be looked back upon as hugely positive.
It’s all change now. Zenga is Mendes’s man, clearly happy to accept any signings that are brought in. His track record isn’t great, which doesn’t scream promotion. One thing’s for sure, it won’t be quiet or full like last season. ( Google Zenga drug bust! Bit of a change from Jackett!)
I do fear we will become a hire em fire em club, like Watford, but maybe that’s what it takes to achieve success.
As a keeper myself I have massive respect for Zenga as a player, he was one of the best.
As a manager his record isn’t at all good
Well, to be honest, unless we’re gonna stick him between the posts and let Ikeme pick the team, then his record as a keeper doesn’t matter a bean. I do remember him as a player though and a very fine and entertaining keeper he was.
What does his record matter? It only matters if he had good quality players at his disposal.
What is Mick’s record in the Premier League?
Give the bloke a chance, for fucks sake!!!
Everyone going on about Jackett not being given a chance under the new ownership, yet stabbing the new guy in the back before he’s even got off the plane!!
No, he hasnt got a brilliant track record, but has he ever had a gazzillion quid behind him, and a really open book in front of him?
Bitch about him if he dont perform, but at least let him start.
Fuck me, the joys of being a Wolves fan.
If theres nothing to moan about, moan about the fact theres nothing to moan about!!!
Give him a fuckin’ chance!!!
Well said mate. Let us see how this pans out after say 10 matches before we start moaning lol
Just announced we’ve signed Silvio sa Pereira from Athletico Madrid on permanent basis…
Wolves just signed Silvio sa Pereria from Athletico Madrid on 1 year deal with option for extension, (Circa Twixfix)
On Official Wolves
hope he’s had the thorough molineux medical, just saying
Sad to see Kenny go, an honourable and talented man who did us proud under often difficult circumstances. Wouldn’t surprise me if he takes another club up.
Now onto the new owners – it seems everyone including me expected a big name manager and big signings from the big fat chinese cheque book. These first actions are far from big so rather than resolving this disconnect with ever more outlandish predictions and presumptions of our cash happy future lets just see how this dice really rolls.
Don’t get wrong as soon as I see a 20m brazillian roll up on Waterloo Rd I’ll be first in line for a special chow mein but until then I’ll be settling for uncle Bens’.
Oh my god ! Zenga has one game and we lose 4 nil …. He s got to go
His track record at wolves is appalling
Settle down Matt ..I know you liked KJ and I know you don’t like Zenga but Shi will do what he has to do and is adaptable its in the Chinese nature ..
(My Chinese wife threatens me with the sack monthly )
It’s going to be a ride and a half but I reckon you and me will meet at a premier match sooner than you think..
Stay cool.. regards…
KJ is history so like I said when moron went.so move on.
Who knows what fate awaits us.
Walter Zenga don’t know much about him,but he’s got a job on and a job to do so let’s get behind him and see what happens.
If it doesn’t happen well Fosun will do what comes naturally. UTW
Fully behind the changes. Zenga has got a big job on to raise the morale and belief of the players. Lets see what he can do.
As suspected, Pele will not be coming to Wolves, he is to have an operation on the broken bone in his foot. It was reported a couple of nights ago quite wrongly that he didn’t want to play for us. That was Botox, he turned up for his Medical, they found a fractured bone and he left in a cast. If only they hadn’t been as diligent with Mike Williamson, we could have save £400,000.
A strong rumour backed up by e-mail, is Fosun are talking with AVB and Marco Silva, perhaps the not so experienced Mr Zenga is destined to be a No2, (a bit like KJ).
Worth following up……
Link to the Pele story.

Maybe just maybe Zenga is being put in as an interim coach to get the show running, I guess Kenny would not accept the new signings and just maybe the Stearman link was what finally sealed his fate; exciting times ahead.
Being realistic why would managers of the calibration of Silvo and AVB come to us. Surely they would want a top flight team playing in the Champions League. I also think Steve Bruce wouldn’t have taken the job either for 2 reasons.
1. The club u turned when virtually giving him the job last time. Message boards with supporters who couldn’t cope with the fact he had managed at Blues campaigning against him. Where would we be now if he had been given the job l wonder?
2. Bruce has principles and wouldn’t manage a team where an agent was deciding on transfer policy.
Zenga is probably the best available guy at short notice that Mendes could find that would take the job. He might do a good job. However want l don’t want to see is a team full of Portuguese and Italiens filling almost every position on the field. It has to be a blend of our existing players and academy graduates alongside the new players. I would like to see the likes of Dicko, Price, Iorfa, Hause, Doherty, Ikeme, Ennis, Graham etc not necessarily all starting, but being part of the first team squad. These are players l have enjoyed watching and developing over the years and we must keep the best core players and retain our identity.
Promotion is unlikely this year, but a 2 year plan to return to the Premiership is more realistic, whether that is with Zenga or without.
GET REAL if Zenga was a horse with his form only a mug punter would back him.
Mr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. The Wolves Gamble………..WHY WHY WHY HIM ?
Yu Waaaaaaa
Which Zenga Wolves have acquired remains to be seen, for, in stark contrast to his playing career, the former Italy national team goalkeeper is far from a safe pair of hands.
http://www.thenational.ae/…/walter-zenga-to-wolves-uae-time…?
#MESSAGE TO ZENGA#
(hope he reads this) let the goal scorers who ever we buy get us to the PL add Innes Dicko Graham to the new team #BUT we must buy in a new (great) No 5 and stop up the back as if we don’t concede we can either draw or win 1-0’s + and that will get us promoted..if we have to buy in a fantastic goalie and replace Ikeme we HAVE to do it…This is the formulae to get up (Alardyce ) Then we rethink again to stay up….
As an ex goalie you know it makes sense!!!!!!
The fans support will carry us too..

Honley Wolf I have never seen such a negative post here for quite a while —we are going up this season ….period…ask the bookies too….
We have the financial resources,we have astute owners,we have the fans and we have future written history..
‘Promotion is unlikely this year’ if you were my PR man you are sacked ..
We haven’t even started we don’t know the team and we are buying players in like crazy..How can you say that then??
The premier league is our destiny once again..
NB. we have NEVER had such a chance to get there than this..who ever is the coach or who ever will be the one for us in the future..
Remember it here
COYW
Oh my god .. I am so worried for my own sanity . I’m finding myself agreeing with Steve showcase now and even Colin … Next it ll be Clive .. F@#k Albion! Shoot ,,moxey .. Shoot Morgan . Jackett out trump in Aaaaagh !!
Now every time I read about this coach I want a kfc and every time I try and type his name ” zen garden ” comes up .. It’s all too much !! I need to lie down
( And have a zinga burger …. In a zen garden some where with my old mate Kenny ) Aaaaagh
I hope you are right Steve but there have been plenty of examples where throwing money at a team hasn’t worked. I would have been more confident with Loperegui in charge.
I can’t work out how much money this Fosun group are putting in. They originally said £20-30 million over 2 years which isn’t an awful lot looking at the current squad. Then again we have been linked to this Brazilian forward Talisca for a reported £18 million. If it is true and money is no object then promotion would obviously be a real possibility.
I am more in the wait and see camp. Getting this Silvio on board on a permanent deal is a step in the right direction. It is going to take time to gel the squad together if there are several players coming in. It will not be easy making the ground up in the second half of the season. It is a strong league with Newcastle, Villa, Norwich, Derby etc.
I wouldn’t assume anything in football, millions in the bank or not!!
Its a joke and he will struggle to get in the top 6 by Xmas.

Calm down and refrain from delusion.
So have Cardiff,Forest,Fulham and QPR got billionaire clout and look at the state of them.
Its a great manager Wolves need, having had just one in 128 years that won the top league. And its he and one other who won all Wolves FA Cups out of now 30 Wolves managers.
Zenga is not a great manager so expect more Wolves woe.
‘Poor Kenny he did nothing wrong’.
Just looked up 2008-2009 when we won the Championship title. Players in £2.3M-Players out £4.6M. Players loaned in or out None. And there was not a generation of youngsters coming through either like we have had recently……and some still called for the managers head.
Kenny has probably done enough to get another job all be it perhaps back in League 1so his story isnt over by any means. Chin up Jackett boys !
Shoot Kenny jackett !! Shoot thellwelly thingy ! Shoot moxey ! Shoot the fu# kin Albion !
ZINGA ! ZINGA ! ZINGA !
Colin stop being in denial Jackett has managed for 20 years and was clearly limited.
Had he been controlled as most on this forum chirp why did,nt he show backbone and principle and resign ?
Zenga Burger will be as bad, so get a bet on now that he does,nt last the season, while the best prices are available.
Think you missed my irony Amanda never mind i dont think i missed London’s. (He is good company by the way).
If you were being paid 400k a year would you resign and collect your P45 ?
London calm down mate i know you
are a massive Kenny fan respect to you for that you are not alone we could start up regional self help groups – what are you doin up at this time anyway or have you just got in x.
Kenny Jackett to be reinstated with immediate effect, Jeff Shi said in the E&S, “he didn”t realise how much affect it would have on Tim Spiers, the WolvesBlog and especially London Loyal Wolf” KFC devastated at the news and prepare to take a massive hit on the Stock Exchange, sales in Zinga nosedive, product to be withdrawn.
In a personal letter to KJ, jeff Shi said,”you velly nicie fello Kenniee, we shit on you big stylie, but you washa a wanka mate”
As for Dim Tim Spiers, you go fook off tooo meester.
Oh yesh an FOwb
Remind me never to drink what you were on last night mate.
Hope the hangover doesn’t kick in for a while.
Stu mate … Don’t buy any more of that cheap polish vodka !
That’s how I get my season ticket, Canny Scot, only buy the cheap Vodka, can’t see the halfway line but love the atmosphere, I think.
I was having a good old drink Colin son … What else is there till the season starts ?
Looking forward to one with you ( north bank bar ? First home game )
And anyone else who wants to raise a beer to this new dawn !,
Steve Showcase- Wolves current odds to win the league are 16/1 (Stan James) making us equal 6th favourite with Sheffield Wednesday behind Newcastle,Norwich,Villa,Derby and Brighton. So get on boys and girls if you are confident!
Sea pigeon,
Welcome on the blog matey, I think I may have known your dad in the war, he was a lieutenant wasn’t he?
Sorry buddy, couldn’t resist it, anyway welcome,
(Mouldy Ol Dough)
🙂
Thanks Stu.Not sure about the war, but I did win the Champion Hurdle twice and know a thing or two about betting.
Incidentally, our latest signing,Silvio, seems a touch injury prone to say the least and I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when I did some research and found out that he broke a leg in 2 places in 2014 after missing the ball and kicking a teammate! Ouch!!
I’m seriously thinking about betting my pub to be on us going up not winning the league I think 4-1 is not good enough but it’s a shrewd bet..
I’ll say now for the record we will make the play offs but I know there are 7 teams up there inc the Geordies.
Wembly anyone?
I know that I have bored people shitless here but if Zenga can come to terms with defending the 0-0 and sneaking one or two in this league then we have a chance if we buy a new no5..sorry DB..
I fear he’s going to do a Brompton that is attack attack score a couple and accept we are going to concede ..
I keep referring to Our current England manager who shamelessly did the former and got WestHam up.
Look where they are now..we must compare notes with these teams and that includes Leicester who attack on the break..
Stop being so naive.
Cardiff,Forest,Fulham and QPR are already backed by billionaires and look at the state of them.
You need a good manager before pouring millions blindly into players.
Zenga is not a good manager simply a joke gamble…..WHU WHY WHY ?

Nice one Stu.
One month ago doom and gloom, Morgan and Moxey with no investment, sold all the useful players, season destined for relegation and despair.
Today, Morgan and Moxey GONE, investment in manager and players and a season to look forward to. The season may have ups and downs but at least we NOW have a chance.
Dear Amanda
Please excuse my ignorance but could you explain who Yu Waaaaa is?
Is he a mate of Jeff Shi?
Derek D have excused your ignorance so youhave you been unexposed, to Chinese people in Chinese restaurants, all your many many years.
My grandad did,nt understand it either to be fair.
Yu Waaaa commonly used by Chinese to express disbelief or clarification.
Much like somebody going deaf saying ‘You what you what you what’.
Thanks for that.
I also excuse you for my attempt at irony flying straight over your head.
My 87 great great grandchildren have a problem with that too.
Doog,
Well, that fuckin well cleared that one up mate, what do you reckon, You any fuckin wiser, I bet your glad you tried to work that one out,and to think, you could have gone somewhere dark and watched paint dry.
87 Grandchildren eh, have you got some Chinese in you?.
There’s lot’s of mileage in this one Doog. 🙂
I’m sticking with positive. 36 hours later this appointment is starting to make more sense. Fosun will be trying to sell this dream to a potentially huge overseas market. Whatever way you look at it, even if he fails spectacularly, Zenga is going to be bigger box office than Kenny Jackett. Let’s enjoy the ride.
There you go a Wolves Technical Director is named for appointment.
Now chobble on this news.
http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/wolves/news/butti-to-be-named-wolves-technical-director_277873.html
Amanda,
We covered this one in an earlier post above, let’s hope they are looking towards that kind of set up. I personally think if Zenga fails he will go anyway under this regime, so my opinion (for what it’s worth is) take a punt on Zenga, he might succeed. Take a punt on KJ, no feckin chance of succeeding.
Zenga’s tactics: 4-3-1-2
Jackett’s tactics 4-4-1-1
Two central attackers sounds like a good idea. Both managers have focus on the defensive part of the game. From the tactics above, if one wants defensive stability, one might predict a narrower approach than Jackett, which focused on wingplay.
Now here’s something to smile about and calm the troubled breast.

http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2016/07/31/andrea-butti-set-for-key-role-at-wolves-as-walter-zenga-prepares-for-media-unveiling/
Wolves are close to signing Benfica star Talisca in a €25m deal, and reports suggested the midfielder was supposed to travel to England on Friday for medical examinations.
However, the player didn’t arrive at Wolverhampton on Friday, and the appointment of Walter Zenga could be the reason for the delay.
On Sunday, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Talisca is certainly signing for Wolves, and the player is said to have been aware of it for over a week now.
Clearest news yet on Talisvca signing.Today is the day.
O Jogo say Talisca could travel to England anytime to complete medical examinations after ‘final details’ were sorted out.
Earlier, reports in the Portuguese media also linked Talisca with a move to Liverpool, but those reports never made sense and a move to Wolves always seemed more likely.
Wolves have made a significant investment on Talisca and would certainly be hoping he fires them to the Premier League at the end of the season.
http://sportwitness.co.uk/player-can-travel-england-anytime-complete-wolves-medical/?
According to a couple of sites the guy is not signing as he wants more that the GBP1.3 million offered.
He reckons that if Wolves can pay GBP20 million for him they can affored to pay him more per week.
Just woken up from a drug enduced sleep….any news from the mol ? Moxey out ! Yawn ….
I hope the new guys don’t pay too much attention to the negative stuff in here , I read one article stating if nothing else , the new wolves boss will be entertaining , il take that for starters , last year most of us were too appathetic to even post ! Now it’s a feckin roller coaster , enjoy the ride , and if not for yourself , show some enthusiasm for the new guys joining the club , what’s to lose !! Utw
Get in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amanda the mild Cantonese expletive as used by my half Cantonese wife is ooh yaaaaa.
Re Zenga he’s a goalkeeper and Italian so hopefully we will at last have a decent well organised defense which is nine tenths of winning.
Ahoy ship on the rocks. Portuguese man o war Talisca being greedy.
http://the72.co.uk/61620/wolves-unlikely-deal-to-sign-anderson-talisca-close-to-collapsing/?
Any truth to Wolves possibly playing 5 home games in China next year? Is it true or is someone just having fun with rumours?
No it’s bang on.
Jeff Shi said he will pay for the away coach travel like Albion did last year to recreate the Molineux atmosphere. Can wait Iv’e put my name down.
HELP
I can’t keep up with all that’s happening/not happening/rumoured to be happening/rumoured not to be happening at the moment!
In the words of Stephen Fletcher – “Heads gone”.
This Talisca story is as unsettling as Ananda Cope posting on here sometimes ..the story is out of sync with massive wages and player value that would fit in Man Utds profile..
If the story is true then if we are to buy in 5-8 players then £50M could be the cost or shed loads more..
Different Wolves times we now live in?you bet but to put all this action together technical director and all and we will have to go on an orgy of purchases / aquisitions as we have so much more to do and in a short period of time..
Perhaps we have to accept that all hell is yet to break loose manager, coach,Mendes, Shi, technical director
New media, players arguing over how much wages we can afford to pay ..
There is no clarity yet or IMO until xmas ….change and how we change as a club is all rather worrying Wolves has the monopoly on all the blogs and stories and it seems we are just warming up..
Just how we get into the top frame which I’m still sure we will will almost be anyone’s guess ..
Without doubt the ride is going to be bumpy with this blog right in the thick of it…
Boring it ain’t ..but we’ll need results and can you imagine what the reaction will be if we get stuffed at Rotherham ..
It doesn’t bear thinking about ..
Steve,
Looks like you’re right that it ain’t going to be boring.
Interesting article about Walter that I cut and pasted from another site:-
http://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/walter-zenga-to-wolves-uae-time-showed-combustibility-and-the-extraordinary-can-come-in-equal-measure?
Strap yourselves in for a rollercoaster ride!
UTW!!
Good article that Wokingham Welsh !, thanks , it’s made me feel a bit more interested in him
It’s a fair point you make here.
How are the ‘journeymen’ going to take it when matey boy turns up earning £1.5m or so and they’re all on 25 guineas a month?
I’m all for orgies Steve … What’s the address and what time do you want me there …..
Talk of getting stuffed is premature Steve … If we lose the first one there are still 45 games left for catch up…!
Don’t beat yourself up man …
Like Steve its difficult not to feel a bit edgy. So many unknown quantities will be just relieved when the season starts and we get to know more about everybody. The 6 years i have been on this blog Morgan out and New owner in with transfer market solutions has been a consistent demand. Always suspected things might not be that easy but over the last 2 years the change has become inevitable and we have now got to accept the ride.
Good sensible feet on the ground points Colin …..
Have we signed anybody today yet ?
Joao Texeira from Benfica being bandied about, quotes he’s already in England. Supposed to be shit hot, coming on a season loan with options. This is bourne out by someone who saw them in a posh Hotel over the weekend 3 Portugueesers and one with his foot in a cast.
Like I said to Steve Showcase, I have a feeling in my water that tomorrow may release a few surprises and a new manager to work with laddo.
I for one love this, two weeks ago I couldn’t be arsed to go to the friendly now I can’t wait to get at it.
Roll on the China games Eh Tim.
The new owners said they expected to sign 6-8 new players in. Now we’ve signed 3 . Helder Costa and Teixeira are undoubtly big talents, but are they good enough to come in and dominate in the championship? It’s almost as if one gets flashes of deja vus…
– Silva holds Champions league standard. A great signing for Wolves
… and Talisca Anderson is next if they reach an agreement on the salary.
– Do Helder Costa and Teixera have bigger Mojo than Ojo?
Come on Jeff, get some in kid.
Another one in today Twixfix so thats 2. Important to get a few in even just to freshen things up. Still need a goalscorer. Looks like Zenga going to be different anyway.
Silvio was yesterday Colin ….. Does that mean no-one today ….. Well what is Jeff Shi hanging about for….. Unleash the sign on the dotted line contracts lads…..
The way things are going we’ll be taking the Benfica 1st XI to Rotherham and playing our second string (or Atletico Madrid as they’re more commonly known at the moment) against Crawley.
Best possible result against Swansea..
To show all these guys how big the Project is gonna be..
They were all there watching including the new players we were sat very close and the new gaffer and Jeff didn’t stop writing stuff down all game.. I think the bloke sitting next to Jeff on his right was Mendes if anyone can confirm..
Funny to see Moxey sitting right on the outside having zero impact on anything…they all must of been thinking Jesus what a mess you are leaving this squad in..
These are very exciting times… gone from shopping in Poundland to wherever the hell we like..
After last season Its great to be a wolves fan again..
My Grandad used to say, “there’s no such thing as a bad pub, it’s just that some are better than others”.
Similarly, it’s never a bad time to be a Wolves fan, it’s just that this is going to be better than last season.
It’s ALWAYS been great to be a Wolves fan! Is there an
alternative!?
Like it Barry ..
Just seems we have visited to many bad pubs over the years !!!
But this new one that just opened is a top of the range Restaurant.. with the best beer and food money can buy
and nobody cares about the cost !!
Sit back. Light a cigar and fuckin chill. This is the beginning. Just as Man City transistion Wolves goin through same process. Just hang in there. Out of darkness cometh light. Faith in Fosun. We will get there. Back where we belong
Fuckin’ A, Cheeseball!!!
Clive lad. We am fuckin wolves ay we.
A few weeks off line and all hell as broken loose, First of all I’m so happy morgan as sold up, at last we can move on. Mr Shi’s press conference was almost perfect but why did he have to back kenny knowing full well a replacement was already lined up. Jacket did not deserve the way he was treated , when we were down he got the players and supporters back together next season he unluckily missed out on the play offs it only went down when Morgan threw his toys out of the pram. Again I wish Jez was staying on keeping the club on an even keel as enticed the level of buyer we have, give him 3m to spend he’ll do it give 30m he’ll get the best deal. Like any employee he did what he could with what he was given.
Anyhow we have to move on and new owners can choose new management but Walter Zenga? his cv does not warrent an interview let alone the job. It now looks that this is a chinese/Mendez project and Mendez is picking our signings and manager ,does anyone believe Zenga will be here by the end of the season then again Mendez probably as someone lined up. It’s great that we are making signings but there seems little plan behind it. I hope I’m wrong but this as a big chance of going pear shaped but I guess money is no object to put it right.
My other worry’s are how much do fosun acctually care about our club and us , we also have one of the best youth systems around please don’t waste it. Like I said at the start they say all the right things , do we believe them , ask kenny.
Either way we are in for one eck of a ride I just hope it’s in the right direction.
I don’t like to be the one to put a dampener on all the euphoria around here, so I’m not going to be. There are no guarantees which way this season will pan out but hey, this is football and if things were guaranteed it wouldn’t be worth a light. The appointment of our Walt simply adds to the uncertainty and therefore the butt-clenching excitement of it all.
For what it’s worth, my guess (and that’s all any of us can do) is that we’ll struggle for the first half dozen games with a lack of cohesion and our newbies getting up to speed with the league. But with Nouha’s, and then Jordan’s, return we’ll start to perform and will end up creeping into the top six. Hope so anyway and auto promotion would be a massive achievement for all concerned.
Either way, I have hope, something which has been in short supply for quite a while.
Agree Wolfstroker..
As football fans the only thing you can have is hope..
Hope that this year is better than last.
Hope that this is finally our year…
Hope is the thing that keeps drawing us back year after year…
If we miss out on Promotion again at least we had hope…
Under Morgan this year with the club up for sale would of meant NO hope….
I don’t care about Mendes pulling the Strings
I don’t care about paying over inflated wages to players.
I don’t care about if the books balance..
Ask any Man U , Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool. Spurs fans if they care about any of that…
NO!!
They care about winning football matches… They Have hope!
Fosun have given us that if nothing else yet..
Its all we can ask..
Here’s to the week. no doubt all hell will break loose again and this Talisca fella if he joins us then we really do have owners who not only mean business but can close deals too..
COYW
Well we are witnessing a revolution at Wolves.
It appears by the time we play Rotherham we will have a new team.
Fosun are enormously wealthy and £100m is loose change in their pocket.
Not since I began supporting Wolves as a kid in 1960 has their been such hope generated.
I like the new manager he seems to have personality, something you could not accuse Jackett of.
However there has also been a revolution on the blog.
New voices, optimism, almost too much to take in!
Let’s hope we remember M&M and Kenny as the trio who prepared the way for Fosun and our rise to where we belong, amongst the greats of Europe.
This is true Robin. I’m not one to speak too much ill of the 2M’s either. The way I see it is that if an owner does not have or is not prepared to spend the money required (it’s his money after all), then his first job is to keep the club solvent. The 2M’s certainly did that which must have helped persuade Fosun of the wisdom of their investment.
But after years of mediocrity we, the fans, deserve a tilt at the big time and hopefully we’re gonna get one.
Robin, Wolfstroker.
Hear, hear, well said.
M&M, we all dislike them for one personal reason or another, but they kept a tight ship and that set the scene for people like Jeff Shi and Fosun to look at us and see we were the team to invest in. We had 76 inquiries from various quarters and they (Fosun) looked at a dozen or so teams. So we can feel a sense of gratitude towards the M&M twins for setting the scene that gives this period of change and provides a springboard for our club to join the elite.
COYW.
Hi all,
Press conference at 2 pm from Molineux. Zenga to be unveiled and I suspect a FEW surprises. If the press conference is today, then I suspect Talisca must have signed because Jeff Shi said he wanted to do a big announcement / roll out.
Tim Spiers was tweeting this press conference to announce Zenga over the weekend so Talisca may not be a certainty.
It does look like we’re getting Joao Teixeira on loan. Perhaps I was exaggerating when I said we’d have the Benfica 1st XI playing for us soon but it seems it might not have been that far from the truth.
We’re all going to have to brush up on our interdental lisps!!!
It’s Thpanish that doth the lithpth Barry, not Portuguethe. 🙂
OK, my newly learned linguistic skills will be wasted on the 1st XI but they’ll come in handy with our second string 🙂
Well we can certainly thank Morgan-Moxey for handing on a solvent club with a category one academy. It was a great shame that we botched our time in the PL. What if we had survived in the PL after that pivotal point in February 2012?We were a long way from being dead, with 13 games to go and hardly touching the relegation zone. Had McCarthy been kept, or Steve Bruce been appointed, my guess is that we might have stayed up and progressed along the lines of WBA or Stoke. Water under the bridge now.
Morgan has undoubtedly sold out to very serious new owners. This is not some half-baked consortium cobbled together by former players and a pop star or two, probably all on an ego trip. No, we have an enormous opportunity ahead of us. It may take time, and be rocky along the way. If the new head coach can’t hack it in the championship, they will get someone else in who can. Fasten your seat belts!
Very well put that man.
Two things I picked up on over the weekend in parts of the press>
1) Apparently Fosun Group had looked at Tesco United down the road and rejected it as poor value for money.
2) Zenga has had 16 jobs in 18 years.
These two items lead me to the following conclusions: Fosun have a lot of intelligence and have picked the correct club for their investment. So they must have a good reason for appointing Zenga.
Zenga may be too volatile for the Chinese way of doing things and explosive times are ahead. As I said earlier in this thread I predict he will be gone by December, but I could be wrong.
We are however in for one hell of a ride I think, one that may not be enjoyable at times but will always be interesting and exciting. I have not looked forward to season so much for a long time, if ever in over 60 years of following the Wolves.
I would add that it is a pleasure to see so many new bloggers on here, even if I do not agree with all of them and suspect that some (no names) are closet Tesco supporters.
Onwards & Upwards.
Tipton.
I truly believe that this Butti bloke from Italy is going to be the missing link between Zenga and The fans as well as Jeff Shi. May prove to be not such a crazy appointment as a lot of folk imagine.
We will see my Friend, Hope you are found to be correct
When Gary Lineker heard that Raniere was being appointed Leicester City coach, he was very underwhelmed and sort of rolled his eyes. Zenga could be a surprise package. If not, we can order another one! We can afford it.
I’m not surprised that Fosun rejected WBA. Fosun placed great store in our name and history amongst other things. We have a top marketable brand name in Wolves, and we used to be the one of the best clubs in the world. We have pedigree. We saw with the proposed name changes at Hull City Tigers and Cardiff City Dragons that Wolves already have a very desirable name for Asian markets. What the hell would such markets make of, wait for it, West Bromwich Albion? That would go down like a damp squib.
WBA has very common name also,SHITE.you couldn’t brand that could you.
That makes Tony Pukis a gobshite then.
Can’t think of a marketing angle in China for Shite!
Some idiot has set up a company called http://www.shitexpress.com. You can send a box of horse shit anonymously as long as you pay by Bitcoin. The unique selling point is “selling shit to people since December 2014”. Funny, I thought Albion had been going longer than that…
Stu,
I think you’ve got your geography wrong.
Anyone with a name like Butti clearly comes from the Welsh valleys, which is good news for Diamond Dave and me – lol!
UTW!
My head is spinning and not being overly intelligent I’m struggling to keep up. So much is going on so fast. I said to my old man and with Mcdonald gone we really need a class centre mid and his response was when the bloody hell did he go. You only need a couple days away and the whole thing changes.
I’m very nervous as lots of clubs have high hopes and got no where but hopefully we will get it right. I’d like to see a list of whos in and out and where they play and what they bring before kick off if that’s possibl Thomas Ben??
This bloke Butti.
Is his first name Chip, or Bacon?
I don’t know but he has a Brother…………
First name is utterly.
Exciting times indeed. Lots of money being spent. I wonder when we will start having to pay for for the priviledge of watching more expensive players. I haven’t seen any mention of it but do our new owners agree to maintain our fans parliament?
Just joining in with female Monica trend.
We got no class/we got no principles
We got no innocence/we cant think of a rhyme.
Schools out!!!!
Alice??? Who the £”*& is Alice???
Ben and Thomas.
Slightly off subject….
I was thinking about, how over the years the WolvesBlog has developed.
It has slowly progressed and even when we were in the doldrums, you continued.
Wolves, I am sure, will be capturing ‘fans’ throughout the world and your blog is going to be quite essential to that process.
Have you thought of contacting our new owners?
They, I am sure, would see the sense in a small investment, by their standards, to ensure the blog’s continuity and development, without you two, having to support it with other ‘work’ ?
Just an idea….
My opinion? Too risky. If they put anything in, they’ll want something out and any hint that our beloved blog is controlled, even in part, by the club will kill it for many posters.
Agreed, Wolffondler, 100%
From a guy that knows a bit about Zenga.

Walter Zenga is new manager of Wolves. As a man who followed his work for one season as head coach of Red Star Belgrade, I have something to say about him. I think we got really good manager, man with charisma, with passion that all Italians have (yes Amanda, Italian girls also 🙂 ), with tough character, great motivator, and with will to fight with everyone to protect his players and his club. I can freely say, he is football father of Nenad Milijas and Nikola Zigic. He gave them real chance in senior team, and made of them really good players. As Italian, everyone believed that Red Star will play defensive football, but it was quite different. OK, defense was strong, but Red Star played really nice, attacking football. As I saw later, he also played with same style, so I expect Wolves will play really attractive football. What I like a lot at him is that he is not afraid to give a chance to a youngsters, and also he don’t like to experiment a lot with team (like Jackett). He change formations and first team very rarely, only if there is an injury, or someone go into really bad period of play. What characterize his teams is that they are really good physically prepared (too bad he don’t have much time till start of season with Wolves), but I’m sure that players will be in perfect shape when it is most important at the mid season and end of season. I’m really glad we got him, because he is one of rare foreign coaches that can fit to the english style of football. I expect very exciting season, that we will have lot of reason to be happy! F.W.A.W.
Thanks, Stu
Really interesting opinion from Blagomir – the more I read the more it seems that we won’t be bored this season.
COMBs!
I took my daughter Amy to the Swansea game with her friend by aged 7 about the same age I was and I’d like to say she was hooked but sadly not in fact she woke up last night in the middle of the night shouting ” mommy come and get me ” my wife went into her room and said ” get you from where Amy ” Amy replied ” The North Bank mommy I’m bored ” that’s no word of a lie I’m not making it up.
The game one word…awfull and most of the Swansea team were fringe players. Here’s another word….shocking the defending espeailly the big tall lad at right back kept on getting turned inside out and beaten in the air the ONE hope was the young lad up front he looked sharp up for it and had a few neat tricks to.
Sadly the rest well……Saville no where to be seen running round like headless chicken they all seemed not to want the ball like it was a ticking bomb.
God help Walter he’s going to his and all our support……!
So Andrea Butti is our new TOM, that’s Team Operations Manager.
Stefano Cusin who is currently managing in The West Bank will be his no 2. Handy that he speaks Italian, French and English. Portuguese ?
Interesting press conference. Zenga conducted himself very well.
Just a word of warning. Zenga throws up interesting predictive text words; Zen Garden and Zebra for example. Need to watch that.
Muttleigh,
I’m already loving this bloke.
Take a look at this clip from his first training session – the players look scared to death – no doubt who the boss is lol!
http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2016/08/01/pictures-walter-zenga-takes-wolves-training/
I wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of him – passion in bucket loads!
Hi Wokingham,
early days but I agree, I like what I’ve seen so far !
Hi Paul. I have to disagree with some of your observations from Saturday’s game. You’re right about Ennis up front. He was a live wire and has real pace, but playing him up front as a loan striker wasn’t productive in the second half.
Wolves started very brightly and Swansea were very poor for the first 15 minutes or so and only woke up after they scored their first goal. We gave as good as we got and created more chances in the first half and were a little unfortunate to go in 1-0 down at half time. We lacked a clinical finisher.
The second half was ok until we conceded the second goal. Heads started to drop and 3 minutes later the 3rd went in and then it was largely one way traffic.
There were some decent performances but we lost belief as the second half went on. Even Rob Edwards was quiet and barely moved in the technical area towards the end.
However in the grand scheme it’s not important. Everything is changing and even if people can’t agree that the future looks bright, they sure as hell cant say the future looks dull !
UTW !!!!
One huge positive to come from all these changes is that when our opponents do their due diligence scouting and watching video of our players and systems, they wont have a friggin’ clue how we are going to play…..because at the moment, neither do we!!!
Happy Days!!
Ding Dong the witch is dead, the wicked witch is dead!!!!

From Offical Wolves twitter account
“It has been confirmed that João Teixeira is set to join Wolves on a season-long loan from @SLBenfica.”
🙂
Sevlow
3 down 5 to go.
Yes Stuart ! Exciting times. I also like the passion our Walter talked about today. I only hope he can do a job here.
😉
Passion is a word much bandied about in football, but intelligence, talent and application are what really matter. Will Zenga bring those attributes to the club? Only time will tell, but I hope he doesn’t think that banging the passion drum can be an adequate substitute for them.
How does one pronounce his name?
Tas-er-ia , I believe
🙂
…Or even Tas-er-ria !
doh !
Very happy with everything I’ve seen and heard so far. If, as Zenga has asked, the fans get behind him – get Molineux ROCKING – he will realise what we’re all about. The potential is massive and hopefully our support and NOISE will spur him and the players on. Promotion is only a slight possibility at the moment (we’re starting again really) but I think most fans would be happy with fight, passion, good football and genuine signs that we’re at least building something special and heading in the right direction.
UTW!!!
Play the LIQUIDATOR that’ll get the Mol Rocking.UTW,UTW.
He’s gonna be an Italian Mick McCarthy.
Kenny was too polite.
What is the Italian for numpty?
It’s the same Clive, but push the heel of your hand against your forehead and into the air as you say it.
I wasn’t at the Swansea game but a thought struck me about the result being out of the ordinary, with a clear gulf in class. Normally in pre-season we have the usual motley collection of friendlies, sometimes here, sometimes abroad, and often a combination. We then finish pre-season with a more meaty, serious game against a higher-flight club. The Spanish La Liga club Real Betis comes to mind and also last year’s pre-season against Aston Villa. Correct me if I’m wrong but we usually do relatively well in these final pre-season matches. So what happened this year? Was it that we were literally scraping the bottom of the barrel? I know we have been stagnant with takeover talk, but we were never particularly active in the transfer market this early anyway. Usually transfer deadline day would come and go, with our regulation interest in Chris Woods stirred up to no avail, and then we would be into the loan window with Kenny trying to sound optimistic about bringing players in but only if they were better than we already had.
Methinks that without a takeover, we were destined to be doomed next season. The game was up.
The way I see it, I wouldn’t mind Wolves starting slowly and then picking up speed, finishing 5th or 6th, and hit the playoff going at full speed.
Better to iron out our problems early and get in the right manager and players and supplement them in January.
He was right in the interview. Steve Bull didn’t play against Italy in the 1990 World Cup. He was on the bench.
I thought zenga was brilliant .
What a presence
What a character . Cant wait
I agree with you London …. He came across as determined, passionate big time and one who wears his heart on his sleeve… Without actually saying he’s had a Wolves heart transplant, unlike Morgan … I’m beginning to believe were getting a winning formula together….
I for one cannot wait to get behind the lads, and manager and to make some noise for the boys……
I think that optimism and upbeat ethos will give average players more confidence and enthusiasm . And God almighty we have a lot of average players eh ? !
I feel the first game at the Mol will be vital in setting the tone for the rest of the season. If we fans can really find our voices throughout the game, we can show Walt and the new players they’ve come to a special club with special fans. They need to feel loved from the word go to help them all settle quickly. Only then will we see the best of them.
Tuning in from West Coast….nothing should surprise us now…promotion…relegation…bore draws or 5-5 thrillers
Meantime, courtesy of Guardian Fiver website, here’s some fun background on our new coach

marin wolf, thanks. Walter is sounding anything but a wanker! Can you imagine Kenny ever being so, err, colourful in his private life? Walter is just the man to put a boot up the arses of underperforming players.
Watching Zenga at Compton and this afternoons press conference another thought occurred to me. It appears his personality will be far more in line with Fosun’s ambitions and far more marketable. Nowadays, results and playing style come top, but managers are becoming more important In how they are perceived and are a reflection of the club.
KJ has done a good job at Wolves and has been widely acknowledged as an honourable and decent man, but Mr Charisma he ain’t.
Yeah Mutt1eigh. There was one bit in the press thingy when Jeff said about being called Wolves and he wants us to play like Wolves. I think his language skills then let him down a little, or he would have said we are a bit like lambs at the mo (putting words in his mouth a bit).
I do like the sentiment. Snapping, snarling, downright dangerous. Our team working with the pack mentality to make another kill. Bring ’em on. Grrrrrr.
Like it Wolfstroker !
And that was the problem, Tim, if Bully, then in his prime and superb form, had played in that World Cup against the Germans, we would have won the bloody cup!!!
We will need to shoe some patience whilst the turbulence settles down a bit over the coming months. Having sat through 8 nil nil draws last season you do become somewhat immune to it. However, I truly believe that big things are around the corner for us. Walter does seem very upbeat. The test will come when we go to places like Barnsley on a wet Tuesday night in November. It is how we adapt to such challenges with our array of new players that will determine our destiny. I am enjoying the revolution and much more will need to be done in the immediate future on the playing side. Anyone up for some pre season games in Beijing next July ? Here is a song for next season in the prem when we play Arsenal: WALTER ZENGA FUCK OFF ARSENE WENGER WALTER ZENGA FUCK OFF ARSENE WENGER .. ……..hopefully……
Just read that Zenga knows tony daley and he is staying. That means continuing ‘unlucky’ injuries caused by the physical training regime being inadequate, poorly designed and badly executed. Better make those 8 new players 12 to allow for TDs continuing presence.
Why doesnt he go to Villa who he loves so much?
We had hardly any injuries the previous season and Daley was here then too.
I am wetting myself with all the excitement, my poor bladder can’t take it. What I am most looking forward to is seeing Walter on the side line, shouting, threatening, barking orders and when the pre match warm up is over, lite the fuse and watch him go, at last a coach who shows some passion, drive, belief. Bring it on.
All I need is for Anderson Talisca to sign plus a proper striker – NOT David bleeding Nugent! – and I shall be as happy as Brian Happy of Happychester when he’s in an especially good mood. Then after Saturday sign a centre back, Alex Pritchard , Another striker oh and Bakary Sako.
P.s. has anyone told CCB (cheatin’ Chalkie Brompton) that as last year’s winner of the Prediction League he starts this season on minus 20 as a handicap?
Ah well, I thought David Nugent was pretty good actually. Shows what I know.
Probably know more than me Wolfstroker – personally I think he was decent about five years ago but I am of the view if he is not good enough for Middlesbro in the PL then he’s not the sort we should be signing. We do desperately need a striker though to spearhead the attack in Dicko’s absence though I think both Ennis and Enobakhare can play their parts this season. I’d rather we were looking at the sort of players Bournemouth and Burnley spent big on to good effect – Calum Wilson and Andre Gray – someone like that, young, hungry, quick, 20 goals a season. Chuba Akpom of Arsenal? One of Chelsea’s England U21 strikers on loan?
Perhaps Sako would thrive under Zenga. I’d love to see him back. He belongs to Molineux,
I agree . Sako back but give that greedy Brazilian the old shoulder . Bring bamford in at a fraction of the price and fuck David bleedin nugget right off !
Gotta disagree with regards to Sako.
He couldn’t wait to jump ship as soon as we didn’t make the playoffs.
If he was so good, how come he couldn’t make the starting line up at Palace.
Friggin’ Palace.
No, I don’t want him back, coz it will ONLY be for the money, and if he cant cut the Prem mustard in South London, he will certainly not be able to cut it in the Rockin’ Midlands when we get in the Prem.
Plus, I don’t agree with re – signing players, full stop.
Except Peter Knowles.
I would have had him back in a heartbeat.
Just re-watched Brazil 1 Germany 7.
What a loff!
Don’t want any Brazilians either.
Just Brazilions of pounds!
Or Yen.
This Karbach Rodeo Clown Double IPA is doing my edd in!!

Peter might have lost a yard of pace now Clive.
But, as I said before, get Sako on loan for a season. He might not cut it in the Prem but he could sure help us get there.
Has anyone ever been on ‘small heath alliance” forum. Got tkts for 20 aug today . Some of them blue nose cunts hate us more than Villa. When Jasper Carrott is all yo got………
There is a few of us now mentioning Sako ..not rocket science and wages for him now a laugh..he wouldn’t cost much either ..and what a return he’d have too regarding the fans..
Zenga..give or take Wolves being the most popular team in Italy came across as extremely passionate and no doubt will have all the players on his side and playing the game of their lives every match ,after all ‘they are all fantastic players’ anyway .,
What a difference in attitude ..when we score I can see him running down the touch line and jumping into the crowd celebrating ..
We’ve been getting used to negative stuff…not anymore ..
We could prob take 8000 to Rotherham I hope the team doesn’t let him down..
One word on my mind before the coming match ..Talisca ..it’s gone quiet..
I can see Monday’s instead of being depressive but a what the hell is happening this week type of feeling..
I hope we steamroller this league please God….
COYW
Clive mate ., it’s not that sako could nt cut it in the prem it’s just that he joined a team flush with talented left sided midfielders and hasn’t had much opportunity .
Besides there is also the important factor that we need to have as many forwards and wingers as poss . In the team with their names ending in ‘ o ‘ for singing reasons .
On the subject of Peter knowles . I’m not sure if marks and Spencer’s would be prepared to release him as he still gives them extra footfall on a Saturday of men of a certain age !
I don’t get this appointment. It stinks. KJ should not have been sacked for a start, but why this guy? He’s yet to prove himself, isn’t suited to this league and just should not be at this club at this time. To the naked eye it would almost seem something along the lines of “Well, another Midlands club has an Italian manager that no one believed in and look how that turned out..!”.
We stunk the place out last season. We need to move on and attract gates or 20,000 again or move everything into the museum.
Zengaboy could you get me into the Northbank bar?
Norway,
No one can prove themselves if not given a chance, and why should’nt he be at the club?
What has he done to you to make him so smelly?
The appointment has been made, there are a lot of twists and turns yet to come, and one thing is for certain, if the team is NOT performing heads will roll and be replaced.
Perhaps this is the one league where Zenga can make a huge impression.
None of us know, but it is sure gonna be fun on this roller coaster!
Anything will be an improvement over last season.
London, on the Sako thing.
I stick by my opinion that he cant Prem mustard, coz it dont matter how many others are flushing at Palace, if he was good enough, he woulda bin picked over the flushers.
Instead, his career could be in the toilet!!
And I meant re signed Knocker back in 1970, ya plank!!
Everyone knows Marks and Sparks wouldnt give him time off, Saturdays are their busy time!
Any more signings today?

It’s not a case of ” why shouldn’t he be at the club”, it’s “why should he be”? His track record is appalling so what was the rationale appointing him? Also, after delivering a good first press conference, in which he said that he was happy to keep KJ, Jeff Shi then dismisses him within a week of that statement!! One could understand it if a really hot coach had just surprisingly become available, but to do it for someone with Zenga’s cv beggars belief.
Zenga has shown more enthusiasm in one Press Conference than Kenny Jackett did in 3 years! I recommend his advice relative to his ‘track record’, which is ‘don’t believe all you read on the Internet’. The guy deserves a chance. Am sure, if we score against Rotherham he’ll be running up and down a la Jurgen Klopp….
He’s fun and our younger players like Bright Enobakhare will really benefit from someone like him about.
As you wish, but his track record suggests that while you may appear to think he has “fun and enthusiasm” in abundance, he’s not strong on real ability and his results have been consistently poor, not only in the middle east, which I agree is barely relevant, but worryingly also in his native Italy.
You also failed to recognise the latter half of my post, which pointed out that Jeff Shi announcing that KJ was going to be kept on and then sacking him a few days later was about as ham fisted as it gets, particularly when the replacement is so lacking in substantial credibility. No wonder Moxey passed that question to him in the press conference!
KJ prob when asked how much enthusiasm has he now for the club? answered …(look away, look away)….’the same as last year’
and then was then shown the door..
Enter at one million miles an hour emotionally in tears to please – Zenga boy..
A Slight difference..
I feel it would be a good thing now to put the whole KJ thing to bed. He’s gone.
Our club, our team, has a new manager. Untried in England. Seemingly full of enthusiasm for the task ahead. Chosen by the new owners of our club who are threatening to spend megabucks to return us to the pinnacle of the football mountain.
Like their decisions or not, he who pays the piper calls the tune and I feel that we are heading in the right general direction even if some of the gearchanges may be a bit ropey.
Walt’s previous accomplishments matter not a jot to me. It’s what he does at Molineux that counts and only time and games will show us that. Meanwhile, it’s beholding on us all to give him our full backing until results demand otherwise and to Kenny I say, ‘Thankyou for all you did. You were badly treated in the end but I’m sure you will return soon to another club on the back of your achievements here’.
‘The King is dead. Long live the King’.
Totally agree.
Time to move on and get behind the team. Its not going to be all plain sailing but it will be interesting. I’m enthused.
Oh while I’m on, new man Joao Teixeira really does look the real deal, if his Youtube vid is to be believed, which, of course, it is. Silky skills and the ability to thread a pass through a packed defense. Probably why we let KMac go.
Wolife,I’m by no means saying you’re wrong but a certain Bjorn Sigurdarson starred on a YouTube video before we signed him and look how that turned out! Time will tell.
Aaahhh, I always liked Siggy though. (sigh)
Icelandic striker Bodvarsson has signed a 3-year contract with us.
I don’t recall being massively impressed with him at the Euros – has anyone else got more to add on his abilities?
His goal scoring record is 29 in 137 games – we should have kept Ziggy with that kind of strike rate!!
The one good thing with all of these signings is that Rotherham won’t have a clue about the team we’ll be putting out on Saturday….all of that watching our pre-season games ..waste of someone’s time….
This will cast pressure upon Chalkiewolf the cheat and his predictions for this coming weekend…..
Rotherham won’t have a clue?? WE don’t have a clue!!! That’s what exciting. Hopefully our team players will all be wearing the same coloured strip so they can recognise each other. By the way are we predicting this year? This first game would certainly be interesting to see what the fans will think the result will be.
Who’s the Dadi…………….? Jeff wasnt joking when he said there wil be surprises . I thought we’d signed Ray Winston for a minute.
Bit of a target man type I think. I understand Walt likes a targetman.
Mancinian,
I dont recall being impressed by ANYONE at the Euros, and at least he was in a team that got somewhere, unlike any Englishman.
The beauty of all these signings is that we can fuck ’em off if they are no good and go out and buy some more!!!
Very rare they check any tickets Col . (?you re not bared from there are you ? ) swift half to see the season in ?
One’s record as a coach is dependent on one’s players available. Someone coaching Man U will probably have a better record than someone coaching a team fighting for survival at the bottom of the table.
Do we know what kind of players Zenga had available to him when his teams did not perform well?
Let’s judge him on his results combined with the quality of his players and their health.
Who knows and who cares what happened in the Middle East?
Just checked out Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and he seems reasonably quick for someone who’s 6ft 3 and, blow me, he seems to be able to kick with both feet. Well that’s novel for most modern day footballers!
Spot on tim , so let’s give all the lads a little time to settle in and see what Walter does , does the new guy mean we won’t be getting the Brazilian guy now ! Also anybody notice we now say ‘ undisclosed fee’ can’t help thinking this is one last moxeyism at play ?
Utw
First press conference
Jez Moxey butted in saying Kenny had a job and would be part of new path at first press conference. Jeff had no option but to agree at this time, Jez was out of order.
At second press conference when Jez passed over question to Jeff, well. Jez should have answered question saying he had at last press conference, stated Kenny had a job for the future without discussing this first with the owners, apologised to Jeff for putting him in such a position. Admitted that he had spoken out of turn, that he did not have Jeff’s authority to make such a statement. But Jez doesn’t work like that. He has not a clue, and would not last for 5 minutes in any other business than CE of a football club.
Jeff has the Power. (Not Jez any more thank god).
