And with tail between my legs, I am going to do my best Andrea Leadsom impression and pull myself out of the #wolvestakeover debate (I am a parent though, for what it’s worth).
This blog is an apology to all of you fans who – like myself – have probably been refreshing Twitter, checking Molineux Mix and revisiting Twitter again, in that order, for what feels like a lifetime.
I wrote a completely spurious, incorrect blog from a supposed man-in-the-know, whose supposed contact within the club is either a complete fantasist or just an out-and-out liar. Probably a bit of both.
Despite numerous assurances being sought that the information given prior to uploading was definitely correct (I even apologised for sounding neurotic before posting at one point!), the information was, to quote a legendary publication of yesteryear, A Load of Bull.
Worse still, it looks like it was stolen from someone else anyway, from what a journalist on Twitter was telling me last night, making me look like a bigger plonker for not being more thorough before posting.
I’m guilty of being too gullible, too excited and of not going with my gut feeling in the first place.
In any case, I am really, really sorry for posting it and building up fans’ hope. It really wasn’t my intention and it most definitely wasn’t my intention to assume any degree of superiority or one-upmanship.
When out walking my dog around Molineux on June 24, I actually bumped into Jez Moxey outside the front door of the Billy Wright Stand. We exchanged pleasantries and I asked him about a potential takeover and if something was imminent.
He smiled, looked me in the eye and said: ‘don’t believe everything you hear.’
It’s not often I admit to wishing I’d listened to our CEO, but in this instance he was spot on!
Massive apologies again everyone. Wolves Blog has always been a source of integrity for many years, thanks to Thomas’ tireless work. My blog compromised that in a pretty damaging way.
I am now crawling off to a dark room (with mobile phone in hand for any Twitter updates!)
Editor’s note
To follow up on Ben’s post, I just want to add that we spoke in length about this issue last night and I felt strongly he owed no apology.
We’re continually inundated with speculative reports and supposed insider knowledge that people ask us to publish and rarely take interest.
This particular source had credibility based on being proven correct several times in the past, so we made the decision to share the information on the blog to offer insight to supporters frustrated by the club’s continued radio silence on the matter.
But at no point in Ben’s post did he claim this to be first hand knowledge. He simply passed on the communication he’d received along with the line (verbatim) ‘take it with a pinch of salt‘.
We did not position the article as a news story based on substantive fact and in no way deceived people, hence my position that no apology was required.
However, as always, we welcome feedback from the readership. If you feel we shouldn’t share information we receive (beyond items already confirmed by the club) or feel articles of this nature should be framed differently, please do offer your thoughts below.
Thanks,
Thomas

I don’t think there is any apologies needed, we are all just hopping that this takeover happen’s and that we are not all being taken up the garden path. Fingers crossed COYW
Thanks Ben and Thomas , really guys no apologies needed , if you didn’t post this stuff , what would we talk about , anyway one bigger story today , Bastille day looney in a van ! Kind of keeps everything in perspective
No apology needed! I think we’re adult and sensible enough to know the difference between ‘in the know’ and actual fact. It certainly got me excited but, until it is on the official Wolves website, I won’t treat any takeover news as fact. As it is, it looks like we’re gonna to be patient and just hope that the rumours and speculation are not a total ‘Load of Bull’.
This. One of the reasons I read this blog is that there is very little of the he said/ she said type rumour. You are well within your rights to repeat something someone told you when you believe the source and are presenting the information as rumour.
If it got us all a bit too excited then I’m sure most of us are big enough to handle it.
I like the apology, but really, it’s not that necessary.
UTW
Its Andrea not Angela
Perhaps she changed it on her CV, like so many other inconsistencies (allegedly).
Ben and Thomas, absolutely no apology is needed. Even The Sunday Times was hoodwinked years ago when buying the worldwide serialisation rights to the (very fake) Hitler Diaries. Anyone remember?
My annoyance is with those pathetic creatures who completely invent false rumours about the Wolves takeover. They are either Baggies. or worse. If you’re reading this, you know who you are. Feck off.
Ben, you were very careful in validating the story as much as you did before publishing. You gave it more caveats than my life insurance policy has. You couldn’t have done more. As for myself I keep saying it’s not over till the fat man sings. In other words, I’ll believe it when I hear it from Moxey. And, if he stays on after takeover I guess we will be calling them Fatman & Robin.
We are all good. No need for apologies.
Let’s just put it down to experience.
A lot worse is going on in this world that this is inconsequential.
No apologies needed or required as far as I am concerned. You only printed what you thought and believed was fact.
I am however concerned that Stuwolf appears to want to leave the blog because he apparently passed on the info from a so called Mol insider. Rather than casting himself into outer darkness perhaps he could do us and the club a favour by outing his source as the snake he or she obviously is.
At the end of the day we all want the best for the club and a takeover and clear out is sorely needed.
Don’t give up Ben or Tom the blog is too useful and informative for that.
COYW & FoWB
I used to watch Dixon of Dock Green.
“Evening all. You never reveal your snout”.
But you’re quite right. This fantasising dunderhead from whichever depths of the Molineux mix should be named and shamed.
Unlike much of social media (and much of the traditional press), it seems to me that this blog is run with substantial integrity. But the very nature of a blog is that impressions, rumours, theories are shared as much as hard facts, especially when a blog has built up something of a community of online friends. And on this subject there is a massive hunger for the takeover to happen and enough leads to suggest it would. We’ve simply been prey to idiots who see the opportunity for 5secs of spurious fame as super sleuths bringing us the inside information – fantasists or liars, or both, to use Ben’s words. You were right to do what you did, Ben. Thomas is dead right in his support of that. Now just put it behind you/us and let’s move on. And the same goes for you Stu.
Absolutely no apology needed Ben.
I think most of us were happy to receive titbits of information but remained grounded enough to appreciate that its not confirmed until the club says so formally. I for one took the required pinch of salt.
A positive resolution soonest would be most welcome: we’ll see what the rest of the day brings. If not today please let it be next week.
No apology required – keep up the good work.
I agree with my fellow bloggers, no apology required; in fact, I quite enjoyed the excitement and anticipation. Just like Christmas Eve only Santa never came!
Anyway enough of this takeover talk, there’s a team that requires support this evening, bit of a trek from Ledbury to Crewe but cannot wait for some live football again.
See you there.
I thought it was a great article.
No apology was required but the follow up is a nice touch.
Yet another clown on twitter is saying it has literally just been confirmed btw!!
I bet my mate a pint based on the article as well lolz…
I totally agree with the aforementioned comments; absolutely no apology needed. Ben acted in good faith and did what any good reporter does and that is get any ‘believed to be credible’ information into the public domain. What I am totally at a loss with and basicaly disgusted with is the heirarchy at OUR club. We are 3 weeks away from the start of a new season and the silence from them is deafening. An absolute disgrace and no way to treat all of the dedicated supporters of Wolves.
Sooner or later the truth will out.
In between why not some gossip?
Looking forward to the Post that discusses any eventual, official, announcement!
Hey boys and girls .. Lesson learned. You experienced bloggers are now even more experienced.
There’s Not much good about getting older except for the fact you get wiser . ( if only i knew then what I know now )
Anyway there must be a takeover . It can not be false . When I spoke to jez moxey before the Rotherham game , he looked me in the eye and said the next owners of Wolverhampton wanderers are foreign
Yourself and Stu are not to blame, its typical of WWFC under the tenure of the Moxey and the lack of respect for the supporters who pay their wages.
Hopefully the takeover will proceed and someone gets his comeuppance.
Meanwhile I have had this cast iron tweet that an annoucement will take place on ………………………………AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Keep up the good work and get Stu back onboard, we need a token Scotsman on the blog so we can poke fun at all things Scottish, bit like shooting fish in a barrel.
No need for apologies lads, everyone that visits this sites will know your good lads and wouldn’t just make make stuff up like that.I have said from day one I won’t believe 100% this is true till I see it on the wolves website.I hope to god it does happen cuz if it don’t I think it’s back to league one for us WAW
No apology needed you do and always have done had the best of intentions towards us bloggers and the wider Wolves family at heart, its apity the powers that be are not of the same ilk.
As I blogged earlier they need to come out and make a statement because it public knowledge anyway and has been for weeks, yes they may have wanted to keep it quite until it was done and dusted I can understand that BUT the cats out the bag so have some respect for the fans and lets have an update………NOW……please for all our sakes even Jackett is now getting frustrated at toeing the ” I don’t know nothing’s happening ” even he sees it pointless keeping up this silly ellution nothing’s happening.
Apology , I thank you for your efforts in trying to keep us informed.
No apologies needed, due to non disclosure agreement there will be no news till its all agreed, still got a few weeks to sign players and actually hope that a few have provisionally agreed to sign up for the project. If Moxey has saved his own skin it will be interesting to see if he can deal with the hopefully increased budget and that we will forever put in the past such notable signings as Holt, Williamson etc
Anyway .. Putting the announcement apart from the real issue … being the takeover .. You may well have been correct . Some people seem to think wolves are already under Chinese Ownership
Takeover, no takeover, Harumph! harumph! I don’t know what this blog’s coming to.
Is this what I’m paying my £2 a month for?
Well, yes actually.
I just love all this undercover business.
I haven’t been so entertained in years.
To misquote Derek and Clive:-
“We had not laughed so much since Grandma died or Moxey caught his left tit in the mangle”.
I may be accused of being flippant here but after it’s all over we’ll look back at these frustrating weeks and have a good old giggle.
…Won’t we?
What does this mean that there is no takeover ?
No apology needed Ben, neither you nor Stu are in any way to blame.
We’re all desperate for something to happen as the start of the season gets closer and our squad is looking somewhat pathetic!
Let’s take a step back. Wolves fans took a stance against the MM’s. We said it is not good enough. One M was upset by our criticism and put us up for sale. There is obviously something going on now. The MM empire is crumbling. We should stand together. Not take a backward step. We have come too far. No apologies required from anyone. This is a forum for opinions and sometimes it gets fraught. But i will say that Ben Thomas AND Stu should continue the good work which is ultimately to see WWFC a force in the world. We are stuttering towards it at the minute but we MUST prevail. Keep the faith and Wolves ay we!
Just be patient guys, this will happen, even if its not Li his other Chinese underbidder is still around (although Morgan would have to take less than 40m). These things take time to complete (would you seriously like to deal a) with the Chinese and b) with tight arse Morgan who wants to extract every last scrap of cash.
The following is from CzechWolf on Molineux MIx today. I can’t vouch for it but it doesn’t look like porkie pies to me:
I am an English Wolves fan, and have lived in Plzen in the Czech Republic for the past couple of years.
I work as an English teacher, and every Friday morning I teach at FC Viktoria Plzen, the Czech champions. My student is the Academy director. Today, Wolves U19 arrived for a tournament, along with Norwich, Hertha Berlin, 1860 Munich and Greuther Furth. Jerry Gill is my student’s contact from back in his days at Norwich.
Jerry Gill has confirmed to my student this morning that Wolves are already under Chinese ownership. The deal is done. I can’t confirm who the owner (s) are, however, or if Moxey will remain. Gill is set to stay in post, so it does not seem to involve wholesale changes. This is 100% in good faith – I ‘borrowed’ a tournament programme if anyone wants proof of my claim! Just the right and right time with a blabbermouth student who knows I am a Wolves fsn and couldn’t wait to tell me the news.
From a Wolves coach eh? Blimey.. it’s difficult not to believe that report.
I have heard so many predictions over the last couple of weeks that one more false one won’t make any difference. Every one wants to pass on good news and that is what you thought you were doing, so don’t beat yourself up about it too much, we are only human (with the exception of Moxey). On the subject of the fat controller, his cryptic comment doesn’t help much. He surely can’t be hinting that there is no take over in the pipeline, so therefore is he just being cruel or careful. I appreciate that there may be a non-disclosure clause but the club need to manage this much better. Plenty of people have purchased season tickets on the back of the take over plans and they will be severely pissed if this is all smoke and mirrors. The club have gone underground over the last seven days, a wall of silence that has allowed rumours to run riot. There must have been some compromise, even if only a short statement to reassure fans that everything is going smoothly. Without this it looks like a crash and burn scenario for the start of the season and sleepless nights for all of us. Lets just say that I have dug my boots out ready for the Rotherham game. At fifty five I should bring some valuable experience to the team.
Crikey, Waggies Left Peg will slot you in the vacated Mike Williamson slot then ?
Don’t be silly!
In true tinkerman style, he’ll play in goal!!!
Anyway . London wolves 50 th anniversary dinner on Saturday night down at the valley . Last bash was attended by most of the wolves old guard . Johny richards . Steve Daley . Phil parkes .wolves hierarchy . And this is an even bigger do .
Most of them have a good drink as a chat . Ben .. If I can remember anything on sunday morning I will report back immediately
Get Dave Slape to draw you a diagram mate – then you’ll remember it!
On the E&S comments ‘Albrighton Fred’ made similar claim about inside information and a pending announcement and when challenged he claimed it was from a source within Wolves and not based on Ben’s blog so maybe there was some substance in Ben’s blog.
We are getting lots of misinformation, for instance I was told it would be announced on Wednesday by a usually reliable source. I think a lot of people within Wolves are feeding ‘best guess’ information because of the pressure being applied by us supporters.
If this takeover is not the ‘real deal’ and Moxey has done nothing to quell the speculation I doubt he will ever be able to show his face at Molineux again.
NDA or not there is no reason for Wolves not to confirm that negotiations are ‘on going’ with a preferred bidder. The AC Milan story leaked and Bellusconi confirmed it before contracts were completed.
E&S have reported that papers were sent to the EFL which is usually the final stage after a deal has been agreed – they have reported it as fact not speculation.
If Morgan and Moxey plus Jackett and others are about to exit the Molineux they may not have a great deal of interest in keeping the fans informed.
Of course none of us know what is going to happen but the current strength of the squad requires major investment if we are to avoid a relegation battle.
In the last 12 months the squad has been weakened not strengthend, given the level of football knowledge within the club you can only assume it has been a deliberate policy to reduce wages and generate income over building a squad to compete in the Championship.
Alongside the total contempt that the club has shown towards the supporters it has been startling how little the E&S have been able to contribute to this story. Other than copying and pasting other media stories there only source has been interviews with Jackett and most that is in ‘Jackett double speak’. Tim Spiers has not been supported by the E&S, you would have thought that some serious networking would have been carried out by E&S journalists to get to the bottom of the story but as we have seen Tim has been left isolated and made to like a poor reporter when in fact his role is sports journalist not investigative reporter.
Let’s hope we get an announcement soon.
Great post, Neil.
I have wondered a couple of times if ‘the’ announcement is being held back whilst new players are being signed up – to make it a blockbuster press conference. Probably not but you never know.
I don’t post much (probably 18 months since my last one) but as a Wolves supporter in exile this is the first place I look to for information.
Thw writing is excellent and mostly well informed. Speculation, and a little gossip, are all part of the fun.
Literate bloggers anywhere on tinternet are scarcer than a bar of soap in Baggies supporter’s bathromm, so any talk of apologies is totally unnecessary, and we should all be thoroughly grateful for ALL your efforts, and I am!
As for the takeover, when it does go through, as I’m sure it will, I just hope the ambitions see us as more than just a feeder club for AC Milan.
All the best
Henry
AC Milan will be feeding us…
THE MIGHTY WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS!!!
\(“,)/
Gents, as somebody has correctly pointed out, even without the article in question being posted all comments would anyway have been about the takeover. Its not like you provoked a debate in bad faith – merely focused it a little. Chill.
im in my armchair enjoying a large gin and tonic but I’m not thoroughly enjoying it because I know that stuart is properly beating himself up about this take over announcement .my guess is people at the wolves thought they were going to be told . Anyway stu … We are MATES . We’ve drank together at matches . We’ve all moaned together on line on wet November nights after driving 300 miles for a nil nil . If there’s no posts on here from you stu then there s a big hole in the blog
. All things wolves comrade !!
Cmon stu !! We all mates on here . We re missing you you stupid old jock !
Just read article again Ben said we may need to take this with ‘a pinch of salt’ twice and finished with ‘dont shoot the messenger’. Really what is the fuss about ?
We are all just trying to keep whats happening to our club on the radar during a difficult and tantalising time. Its what all good fans would do.
The social media is also its own thing where speculation and conjecture provide much of the spice.
Enjoy your armchair in your gin and tonic in a manly way London..
Cheers but I ve had to go on the wine Colin … Stu s absence has ruined my gin and tonic .
But I am being manly
Not sure why the need for self flagellation and purging of the spirit. Totally uneccessary. Keep up the good work.
Stu. It’s time to rejoin us. As you can see EVERY single blog on here has supported you, has said it doesn’t matter, it is not a problem, you were doing your best. It doe matter cos tek ova or not we are forever Wolves. Stu you have done loads for charity. Doe let that go. You can still raise dosh. Av a loff. Stu Wolf we salute you.
I will second that. Get back!
No need for apologies from Ben or StuWolf, what is ‘fact’ one day is quickly changed in the business world. Something must be happening behind the scenes because we can’t go into a long season with this squad. I think you’ll both be proved correct sometime soon but I think the waiting is doing all of our heads in.
Anyway, we all play nicely on this blog so let’s assume that some of the gossip is genuine and authentic and the rest is crap. No one knows for sure.
Come on me babies, Wolves forever.
Even though you have the six numbers, don’t buy the Roller just yet. You never know. If it happens it happens. Missing StuWolf on this thread. Somebody get him back. The plonker.
I have just given Harold the psychic gnat a damned good thrashing. He will never disgrace this blog again with his useless predictions. He did say annoucement early next week but I told him to fuck off.
Robin Li’s company Baidu in association with the Evergrande Group have completed the takeover of AC Milan for €390m. Being reported both in Italy and China. Happened Friday 15 July.
Crucially it was his company rather than Mr Li as an individual. Suggestion is that the acquisition of famous European clubs such as AC Milan, Aston Villa – and us? – by wealthy Chinese is linked to an ambitious Chinese plan to launch a club competition to rival the Champions League. The money involved is scary – they just made Graziano Pelle the 6th highest paid player in the world for Christ’s sake!
Source: The Press Association (P A Group). Members of my family have worked for the Press Association in London dating back to 1910 when my Grandfather joined as a young man.
I think Ben should apologize profusely ………..
For not smacking greasel in the gob and not letting his dog piss all over greasel’s shoes and car.
How anyone has the self control to make small talk with that turd is beyond me.
That deserves a medal, nothing less.
And if my forecast about this all being a ruse by thise two bastards to get more bums on seats, then there should be a contract out on them!!
And not a written one!
FOwb
No apology needed gents, but the sentiment is appreciated.
While we are all as disappointed as the next man, that no official information or announcement has been forthcoming, Moxey, for once, with his cards close to his chest is probably doing the best thing for the club. NDAs and substantiated speculation would do nothing but harm “this” potential deal or any others going forwards.
The fact that you were fed duff information, from a reliable source is not your fault. Having re-read your post, no fault can be laid at your feet. It clearly states that you were the messenger, and the message should be taken with a pinch of salt, even though it was from a reliable source.
Some of the language used would be the biggest thing that tipped me towards an untruth. 5 players announced at the same time, and a budget enough to get promotion at the first attempt… Hmm, we have done the whole throw money at the team thing before, and it didn’t work at the first attempt, it also would go against everything the club has been trying to do for the last X years. Even with new owners, I cannot see them throwing the baby out with the dishwater, as the “nurture young talent” ethos is surely a selling point for the club.
The sale of the club will happen when it happens, but lets remember how lucky we are in some regards. We don’t have an Italian nut job in control who changes manager like he changes his shorts, and we haven’t been pushed into the 100s of millions of pounds into debt and unable to pay those who need paying.
We may want Moxey, and Morgan out, but we are far better off with them at the helm, than some other clubs in recent years. No they are not perfect, and in some way may have held us back, but the club is still here for us to support!
Lets hope the quality of football returns in the near future and remains with us, in winning ways for a long time to come, whomsoever is writing the cheques!
Don’t apologise. We are all in love with the club. Love is blind. We hear what we want to hear.
I just spared a thought for the mole. Either laughing his socks off or gutted to have misled his mate (Stu). I worked for a company that seemed like orchestrated chaos- always keep staff on the back foot. (All castrated chaos?). I get the feeling Wolves is like that too.
Still, the bottom line is positive. The Times They Are a Changing!
All together now…
There will be an announcement on stu early monday afternoon (you heard it here first !).
Don’t believe it.
I got the same story from Stu’s mole.
Last night’s team at Crewe;
Ikeme
Iorfa Batth Hause Doherty
Price McDonald
Wallace Saville Henry
Mason
Hopefully, maybe, possibly, please, if we want to be going for automatic promotion to the Money League, the team before long (without injured players Dicko, Zyro and Graham):
Ikeme
Iorfa NEW Hause NEW
NEW McDonald
NEW NEW NEW
NEW
Just my opinion of course! Reports say good performances by young subs Aaron Hayden and Bright Enobakhare last night.
As a dedicated Wolves takeover rumour watcher, but not claiming to be in the know, I think I can be more neutral about events. Red hot tips for takeover day come and go from ITK posters, a bit like all those end of the world predictions.
There’s no doubt in my mind that a takeover is about to happen. I feel sort of sorry for any mole who spilled the beans, only to find that an announcement has been held back for some reason. It will happen, and very very soon. It doesn’t mean that the mole was wrong, it’s just the date that was wrong.
Happy days are ahead.
To add credence to rumours that the sale has been completed, ownership changes hands when shares are transferred to new owners. This may have happened already. Let me explain.
The Wolves 1986 company shares are 100% owned by an obscure company called W.W. (1990) limited. The 1990 company shares are 75% owned by Bridgemere UK PLC and 25% owned by Steve & Ross Morgan. Bridgemere UK PLC company shares are 100% owned by Bridgemere Investments Limited of Guernsey., where the Morgan family trusts are based.
All that needs to happen is that this obscure company called W.W. (1990) Limited could sell it’s 100% shareholding in Wolves to Robin Li. This may have been done, making Robin Li the legal owner of Wolves! Nobody would notice a simple share transaction like that. Wolves board of directors are employees. No doubt a new board will be installed to coincide with the takeover announcement but there’s no legal requirement yet.
Dances – a bit more detail on shares transfer.
There is no need to immediately notify Companies House about any share transfer. These changes can be reported when the next annual confirmation statement is filed.
You can, however, file an early statement or update it if would like this information to be reflected on the public register immediately.
Companies House has no changes shown.
Exactly. The sale could have gone through and the general public are none the wiser. Also, no changes would ever be made at the Land Registry as property ownership would not change, the properties would remain owned by the Wolves companies. What would change is the owner of the shares in the Wolves companies. No stamp duty to pay on the properties either!
However why would anyone keep the sale secret? I think it is simply a case of terms being agreed subject to contract and EFL approval.
As the Telegraph reporter stated this week approval can take up to three weeks (one week already gone).
We just all need to be patient………..
Not being intentionally kept secret, just the circumstances you outline. Moxey/Morgan could have actually announced where we are at right now, but that’s not their way. (Villa announced things publicly at this juncture). Moxey/Morgan may even be keeping us in the dark out of spite, especially if Moxey is not being kept on.
Truth will out soon. When EFL approval comes and it will be all over the media.
Tim Spiers tweet this evening saying deal taking longer than expected due to red tape……….
In order to avoid any confusion I’m going to post some facts and some speculation. I will clearly mark both and you can draw your own conclusions upon them.
Fact- tonight is the WWLSC ‘London Wolves’ 50th Anniversary Dinner.
Fact- Jez Moxey declined an invitation to attend because “I’m flying to the USA that day”
Fact- He told London Wolves members this at a party hosted by WWFC prior to the Rotherham home match.
Fact- A number of Wolves executives have pulled out of the dinner this week,
Fact- I only know that this ‘number’ is definitely at least 1 but I currently don’t know how many were invited in total and how many are attending or accepted and then subsequently declined.
Fact- I will find out later if anyone from WWFC is representing the Club at the dinner and if they say anything insightful.
Fact- There will be former players at the dinner, they will no doubt be as much in the dark on proceedings as London Wolves members.
Speculation- There may be current players at the dinner, will they know anything?, have anything to say?. This must be affecting them too with the possibility of so many new players joining.
Speculation- if Moxey does indeed stick to his plan to fly to the USA today, supposedly at the height of the negotiations, then this takeover must surely be dead. I assume the bid was unknown at the Rotherham home game when he revealed his diary but it will be telling if he is unavailable this week and is not at the Ireland tour (announced post-Rotherham home game)
Speculation- if Wolves executives are pulling out of the dinner is it because they don’t want to be quizzed on developments/progress? They are not close enough to the deal to be able to comment? They’re not allowed to say anything? Or for other, currently unknown, reasons.
I have found this whole takeover process frustrating and exciting in equal measures. I desperately want it to be true as I don’t want to watch another season of poor football, struggling to win games and flirting with relegation similar to last season. The sole addition of a goalkeeper in the transfer market does not fill me with confidence that our squad has improved on last seasons.
How, with so many deal participants spread across so many countries they’ve managed to reveal pretty much nothing since the Spanish Manager lined up to replace Jackett a couple of weeks ago is phenomenal. Hardly a sniff of actual information subsequent to that has escaped the cloak of secrecy that envelops the takeover.
I simply hope and pray that it is true and it is happening. My only real positive is that the lack of any transfer dealings, other than Lonergan, must indicate something is happening.
Finsbury – the WWLSC is legendary and to be celebrating their 50th anniversary is amazing dedication. I hope you all have a great evening regardless of the speculation. I was a member of WWLSC from 1967 to about 1973 and then again briefly 2009-2011. Have a great night and buy Dave Slape a drink from me – he used to send me all the away programmes with handwritten match reports (complete with diagrams) for about 4 years in the late 60’s/early 70’s.
Finsbury.
I joined WWLSC recently. I’d love to be at the dinner tonight but, like Jez, by coincidence, I have a previously booked flight. Mine’s tonight to Israel. To set your mind at rest:
Jez declined the dinner some time ago as he was booked to the States. Don’t worry, that was probably to his holiday place in Florida. Jez could never possibly know, several weeks in advance, that he might have to make a time-critical takeover-related trip to the States this very weekend. He’d have to be bloody psychic ! Jez may in fact cancel his trip, but for all the right reasons, who knows.
I’m not surprised that Wolves executives have pulled out of the dinner. They may be working overtime on the forthcoming takeover announcement! They certainly don’t want to be the centre of attention at the dinner and be grilled. Grilled steak may be on the menu but not grilled Wolves execs.
These are my conclusions. We’re on course for the biggest event in Wolves’ history.
Or has greasel gone to America because the deal is done?
My little bird tells me the only bloke who seemingly knows what is going on, and who apparently broke this story in the first place is that Spanish journalist.
He is supposedly now on vacation and cannot be reached, but one thing is certain, he aint gonna be hogtied with a non disclosure agreement!!
No need to panic just yet.
On this web-site
http://acmilan.theoffside.com/2016/7/15/12197574/chinese-television-station-confirms-sale-of-ac-milan
Milan supporters were complaining on 12 July that their takeover was ‘becoming a nightmare’ and there was little if any information coming out, yet by 15 July it was confirmed that the Baidu group had taken a majority shareholding. Clearly Li and his friends like to keep their cards close to their chest.
Given that the Football League have already had papers deposited it may well be that its now just a matter of dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. Moxey’s physical absence shouldn’t matter given video-conferencing/skype etc.
So where are we now nature abhors a vacuum but a vacuum we have. The only fact at our fingertips seemingly is that it is The London Wolves Anniversary Dinner. Guillem Balague has disappeared on holiday , Julen Lopetegui and the Spanish FA are numb, Stuart Alves is holed up somewhere in a safe house. The crumb of comfort is that its Darkest before the Dawn and Out Darkness….
And the Championship abhors a vacuum that is currently our strike force (and not only our strike force)!
And the world is still spinning 🙂
Back from my hols expecting confirmation of the big event and……nuffink. Without reading back through all the posts of the last four days(of which there seems to have been quite a few), I gather announcement deadlines have come and gone and silence from those in the know. All very frustrating and becoming, for me at least, a bit worrying. As seasons kick-off draws ever closer, I ask who can possibly benefit from these delays. Surely all Morgan wants is the money in his bank account as soon as possible. For Mr Li, he must want to get started quickly on his new project to boost the chances of a successful promotion at the first attempt. Why the delay?
Finally, what’s all this apology stuff Ben? If you only blog about dead cert’s, then we may as well just read the club website. All sanitised and passed by the ‘management’. We all know that anything you put on the site is done in absolute good faith. 100%. So no worries man.C’est la vie.
And as for Stu. Don’t be a silly scotsman and get your arse back here. Or there’ll be no invite for you to the Bloggers Ball come May. You have to be a blogger y’see.
Ah well, another nail-biting week to come. Stay calm people. Stay calm.
You’re clearly invigorated by your hols, ‘stroker, and lucid as ever on the blog! Good stuff.
Thanks Peak. Yeah, top form thanks, except for my liver of course. Good to see you’re back posting again too, after a bit of a break.
I have a new reliable source. Keith the psychic Ant who approached me on a wall in Gornal this afternoon. Last Tuesday, Keith successfully predicted that when the sun went down it would get dark. Keith also has close ties with a group of Chinese worker Ants who live in a colony in the garden of Mr and Mrs Chang on the outskirts of Beijing. Indeed they confirmed to Keith that just last night Mr Li was seen getting on a train at Beijing station wearing black shoes and orange socks. This is could be a sign. Keith also confirned that Zebedee off the Magic Roundabout is NOT involved in any way. Keith wasn’t in a position to say when there will be an announcement but hinted that we may have some good news soon. The price of pies under Mr Li will be reduced by 3p.
Whatever your on — where can I buy some — boing time for bed or the men in white coats.
This is what happens after years of failure. You eventually start talking to the trees. My hair has fell out and my best friend is a plant pot. At least I ay gone completely mad an gone down Sandwell Town. WOLVES AY WE!
My hair fell out in tufts 40 yrs ago, Cheeseburger. Don’t worry – it’s character forming and that character doesn’t lead towards Sandwell Town. Mind you, I avoided the plant pots, particularly made in China.
Took a few weeks before the villa owner passed as suitable with the FA
Sound Peakwolf. Nothing can ever lead you to that Sparra on the Smethwick shirt. My old mon is 86 ad 3 heart attacks and stroke and he STILL hates the fuckin Tesco.
News of a West Brom takeover now, with a mention of Wolves…
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/west-brom-closing-150million-takeover-8434124
So, they reckon Robin Li is nothing to do with the Wolves deal?
If those wankers up the road get taken over and we don’t they’ll be the most poisonous atmosphere at the Molyneux.
And league 1 will be a reality.
I can’t take much more.
For God’s sake Wolves at least give us fans a snippet, even just to confirm that Wolves are in discussion and all is going ok.
Moxey is loving this.
We need a billionaire owner who is willing to spend, just to get to the top table and compete not necessarily win stuff. Otherwise we’ll just be a mediocre championship/league one team. Morgan has realised despite his wealth he can barely compete in the championship. I feel like we’re slowly turning into a Coventry or sheff united type club.
And now for something completely different.
Totally off topic, and intentionally trying to make some of you jealous, I took the trip of a lifetime yesterday, I drove my big red truck, with Wolves stickers on rear window, and Wolves rubber duck on dashboard, all the way to the top of Pikes Peak!
Fuh Kin Oar Sum!!
For those of you thrill seeking drivers out there, eat your hearts out.
For those of you who dont know what I’m on about, look it up, then eat your hearts out!
As you may have noticed, I am in Colorado, in the little town of Canon City, for a few days.
I know you are still lurking in the shadows, Stuwolf, and I want you to know I took your advice to heart after our chat the other day, and am here with him.
FOwb
I looked it up:
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), also known as The Race to the Clouds, is an annual automobile and motorcycle hillclimb to the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado, USA. The track measures 12.42 miles (19.99 km) over 156 turns, climbing 4,720 ft (1,440 m) from the start at Mile 7 on Pikes Peak Highway, to the finish at 14,110 ft (4,300 m), on grades averaging 7.2%.[1] It used to consist of both gravel and paved sections, however as of August 2011, the highway is fully paved and as a result all subsequent runnings will be on asphalt from start to finish.
The race is self sanctioned and has taken place since 1916.[1] It is currently contested by a variety of classes of cars, trucks, motorcycles and quads. There are often numerous new classes tried and discarded year-to-year. On average there are 130 competitors. The PPIHC operates as the Pikes Peak Auto Hill Climb Educational Museum to organize the annual motorsports event.
What was your PB Clive?
Very interesting evening at the superb London wolves bash .. Ended up with me and the Misses getting dropped of at our hotel blind drunk in a rolls Royce no less . Fuck me we do things in style down here !!
Some really interesting stuff tho . Finsbury Park had long chats with kenny jackett ( who by the way was flying to Ireland this morning with the squad so what a top bloke . I’ve never.spoke a bad word about him and never will . I shall miss him
One thing I have changed my mind about tho and this is not personal its for the good of the club is that jez moxey has to go !
Where’s the tick box on …..Please Fuck Off Moxey ….. He is absolutely poison to this great club that he is wrecking.
I disagree. Steve Morgan is more than rich enough to finance to finance a serious challenge in the Championship. He had a golden opportunity last summer, but he wasn’t interested. Fingers crossed it’s going to be academic.
Agree David.
We are all (and rightly so) getting excited by a billionaire potentially taking over.
Lets not forget we are already owned by someone who is near enough a billionaire (£880m on this yrs rich list), its just that he chose not to spend much, if any on us.
Fingers crossed the new owner is willing to open the wallet.
Just sin some knob ed in a man city top in pub in Sedgley. Woe be long before folks in Moss side are wearing Wolves tops .
A great evening at the WWLSC 50th Anniversary. Club represented by John Gough and Kenny Jackett. The executive that pulled out did so on personal grounds. Spoke with Kenny, he freely admitted that we were in real danger of relegation last season and that with no investment thus far this transfer window we will be in a lot of trouble, especially with no loans available between the Windows. The deal is on, the discussions are happening and he is not worried about his own position as long as the Club moves forward positively. What is ‘keeping me up at night’ is what happens if Plan A fails? If the deal collapses what funds will be available to bring new faces in and how long will there be to buy them? I was hugely impressed by him, a very decent man who wants the best possible outcome for Wolves in much the same way we all do. I did ask him about KMac but will write up his response later.
Thanks for update Finsbury. Sadly I couldn’t go to the dinner as I’m in Israel . Kenny sounds a decent bloke, he has Wolves best interests at heart, ahead of his own. Can’t ask for more. Every fan will intuitively recognise that relegation was a possibility last season after the disastrous run of injuries and the total lack of support for Kenny.
I think there is a Plan A and also a Plan B. The first one is a dream billionaire owner. The second one is probably a consortium put together by Moxey. Just a hunch. Maybe Moxey has American backing? Daily Mirror said two parties had signed NDA contracts with Wolves. Could even be competitive bidding going on? I think I’d rather have Plan A.
Finsbury – thanks for the feedback, lots of rumours and half truths around so it is good to get the confirmation that the takeover talks are real and ongoing. Guess we will have to be patient and ignore all speculation until an announcement is made.
I am amazed that no one has managed to get a quote out of julen lopetegui you would have thought the E&S would have made some effort……..
Is there a journalist at the E & S who can speak, let alone write, Spanish?
I doubt it from their grasp of the English language!
Given he was probably the source of Balague’s story he is under strict orders to say nowt. That said I doubt they have tried. It has taken them an age and a day to stop referring to the takeover as rumours. They have been absolutely pathetic.
Interesting comments about Kenny Jackett, and thanks to Finsbury and LWL for the info.
I know anyone who injects real funds into the club deserves to choose their own staff, and most certainly will, but I feel it’s a real shame that KJ won’t get a season with real financial backing to see what he can do.
Personally, I don’t think it would be a season wasted.
I think you’re probably right mate.
We might be in a minority though.
Sorry but I have to disagree. I think Kenny Jackett is a lovely man, clever, loyal, principled and in general a thoroughly nice chap. However I think he is not the right man to take the Club forward. I think in the 3rd Division or mid table 2nd Division he is great but there is where his abilities end I am afraid.
His record in dealing with talented players is not great – fallings out with Dicko, Afobe and McDonald to name but three. His ability to spot potential in young players is also questionable as proven by Jordan Graham whom he didn’t think was good enough until 17th November 2015 (and then his hand was forced due to injuries) and as we all know Jordan then proceeded to turn in MoTM performances for the next 12 or games in a row.
In addition, and this for me is the killer, there is his complete inability to change tactics or systems or even personnel during a game, whether that to be protect a lead if we are ahead or chase a game when we are behind or even in response to a key change by the opposition, shows him up as being very limited in thinking and ability. Its as if he has one way and one way only and if that isn’t working he is baffled. How many times have we seen him standing on the touchline, arms folded, emotionless doing absolutely nothing?
I doubt that even if we bought Messi, Ronaldo and Pogba he would know what to do with them – probably say as much like he did with Mason (obviously Mason isn’t in the same class as them!).
Like I say I think he is a nice bloke – but (hopefully!) we are moving to a new level where being a nice bloke isn’t enough on its own.
Just my opinion of course.
Check out a post on Wolves Rumours contains a link to an aricle about Lopetegui’s goalkeeping coach who works with him everywhere he goes. This link shows he has very recently started following Wolves forums on twitter. Interesting if nothing else
They say, who ever ” They are ” no news is good news and for every fan of Wolves I hope that’s the case.
We have been through so much the last 30 or more years and most of it bad but we are still here and that’s a testament to the fantastic loyal support of this great and speacil football club, I just hope that this takeover is happening.
First thing this morning I’ve pick through the web for any sign or information on what’s happening and nothing, I just hope and pray that there is an announcement soon and this has not been a waste of time and more importantly a wasted oppertunity.
http://www.abola.pt/clubes/ver.aspx?t=3&id=622182
Done deal by the end of the week.
Much tho’ I love my hometown,I wonder how Mendes will persuade his player to swap a life in Monaco for Wolverhampton…?
Once he tastes a chicken balti… he will be wolves forever.
As long as it isn’t a Mrs Poxey balti pie.
I agree Wolfman.
The link is just another rumour and my prediction slightly tongue in cheek.
However, there is no smoke without fire.
The takeover is either true or we are doomed!
Exciting……
Moxey is just messing with your head ;=)
… just in case he messes up and ruins the deal.
Ok. This blog page deserves a sequel. The deal is now confirmed by Morgan.
In my 37 years experience with Wolves well let’s just say, I think we are all accustomed to what’s going on. It doesn’t make it any easier but not suprising at all?. WAW
Maybe the confusion over whether it is Robin Li can be answered by the fact that Li also goes by his Chinese name Li Yanhong………..
Maybe a game of smoke and mirrors is being played out until all the contractual stuff is done.
Once you get over the anxiety of endless hope and despair supporting Wolves is a never ending source of amusement.
With links to Spanish and Chinese media reports this is all getting a bit ‘Fast Show’! Let’s hope we won’t have to be getting our coats. It often feels like we’re heading for the sort of mega Molineux disappointment that we’ve become accustomed to over the years, but maybe there are just enough straws in the wind for it all to come together before too long and hopefully before the chances for next season are confirmed as f***ed.
Finsbury’s account of his talk with KJ show what a good man he is – he reconnected the club to the fans and brought success for a couple of seasons, before the lack of support from the owner ground progress to a halt. He’s also been the only one recognising the need for communication with fans – there can’t be a club worse than ours at this at present. But as a thoroughly nice and good man, he’s probably not the man to take us to the next level and beyond, even though I’d bet that, with money and support, he’d do as well in season one as an English league virgin parachuted in.
peak lad. The club are not saying anything because they can’t. As much as we despise the regime. I would say that Moxey is desperate to bring news but he can’t. it makes no sense to believe that they are not giving us anything on purpose. Morgan has the club up for sale so why is he not going to sell it. I understand we are all desperate for news but I think we need to stay calm and just wait.
Calm? CALM? I am bloody calm. Don’t tell me I’m not calm. Cheeky bloody Cheesebuger. (Is that a deliberate typo in your name, by the way).
Oh, I do agree with what you say, actually.
Like Wolfstroker, I’m very calm and I haven’t been called a lad for about 50years!! The fact remains that the club has been crap at communication well before this current situation. They don’t even acknowledge officially that ‘talks are in hand, papers with the FA etc but don’t hold your breaths’. At least that would show that they understand the frustration. But I’m calm. Very calm.
And if the one parachuting lands on you, Peakers, would it be virgin on the ridiculous?
The rumour boys have been working hard in difficult conditions and there maybe just enough to cling to. The E&S dont seem to have a scoobie but can confirmthat we have got a team on tour somewhere in Ireland. A lot of plaudits for the uncharismatic but very nice Mr Jackett. Not sure the players saw him that way last season with most of them at some time or other seemingly frozen out.
Ha! Nice one, Clive! Nothing like a bit of support for KJ to bring forth an insult…..
Any one noticed that Stu Wolf is still posting on Wolves Rumours. is this a sign that Mr Li will be taking over ?
Stuwolf is Scottish, and is still sulking that we have all pledged to give money for the blog, and he hasnt worked out a way to get his sticky fingers on any of it…….yet!
I saw this on a website talking about the takeover today and thought I’d share it:
From the 1950s when Wolves won the league, through to a decline in the 60s and a re-emergence in the early 70s with legends Dougan, Hibbitt and Munro leading the way in the newly created UEFA Cup, the club have more bounce than Zebedee.
From a downward spiral in fortunes culminating in a spell in the league’s lowest tier, the club have bounced all the way back up to the Premier League before falling back to the Championship in 2011/12.
Their resilience apparently knows no bounds.
I was watching Wolves v Barcalona in the European Cup must of been 1959 or 60 and there was a player for Barcelona called Mendez and I’m sure he did the Cruyff turn a least twice, check it out might as well while waiting for this take over………if I’m right then Cruyff must of nicked it off him.
The reason that Stu Wolf is keeping shtum on here is because he has signed a non-disclosure agreement regarding the latest rumours.
Myself, and the PMDG’er were indulging in some fun and games on the sofa when I discovered some loose change down behind a cushion.
When I had finished counting it and then adding it to my Moxey Bank contents, I discovered, to my surprise, that it totalled an amount not to be sneezed at.
After a house meeting it was decided that we would invest it somewhere, and where better than the Golden Palace. But only on the condition that the deal went through quickly and we were all kept informed as to what was going on.
And so that is what we did.
And it was all done and dusted in less than an hour.
Eat your heart out you Chinese billionaires.
That’s the way to do business in the modern era.
I just had to telephone Stu and let him know what a delicious sweet and sour it was.
The Golden Palace will definitely be getting more of our custom.
It’s paragraph 2 that gas just created a whole new, know what I mean, nudge , nudge , wink, wink, know what I mean question….and it is ……?
How much did you find and how on earth did Mrs PMDG’r get her hands so far down the back cushion such that para 2 springs to mind.
Sounds like you’re in A1 condition now mate ….. am I allowed to say keep it up?
Twixxo,
In a LondonWolves accent, repeat after me….
Say No More……. ad infinitum!!!
Contact close to me say Robert Li is buying West Brom and NOT Wolves. Wolves are about 2 weeks away from being bought out buy an unknown Chinese investor, however this is NOT Robert Li. Robert Li is buying West Brom.
Er its Robin li Mr insider
It may as well be Robert Li…
***humph*** 😐
So dissapointed that stu wolves is still blanking us all . I never really knew many Scottish folk and he really changed my attitude towards them , so much so since the old Brexit vote , the Eastern European beggars down Marble Arch and park lane have been slowly making their way back home . I can proudly say that I have been very promenant in campaign to bring all the Scottish tramps back to our streets !
Yes stu .
Not only that .. When Mrs L W L brings me a salad for my tea … I push that plate right back at her
” no ! ” I say ” deep fry that shit ! ”
These cultural things we know about because of people like you stu .
Now come on home ! I’ll even buy you a voddy!
I’ve often wondered if Stu is a real scotsman when he wears his kilt or a typical soft southerner.
Oi .. We re not soft .. That’s so stereotypical … Almost bordering racism !
Soft Southerners!!!!! Bleeding cheek! Having been born within spitting distance of Millwall’s old ground, had a father-in-law who employed a bloke called Peter The Shooter – due to his tendency to keep a sawn off shotgun about his person at all times – and used to drink in The Blind Beggar pub, haunt of the The Kray twins I would consider myself far from soft! You have been warned! Lol
Would you be able to draw all of that information in a kind of London wolves diagram ?
Flipping Eck bedders it’s hot down here ain’t it ?
Bet it’s snowing in wolves
Diagram to follow.
You might be all Billy Goat Gruff on the outside, but inside you are like the albion defense, soft as shit!!!!!
Apologies to Wolfstroker and Peakwolf. I didn’t mean to upset anyone.
Just back from my therapy session. She reprimanded me first for giving her a Chinese handshake (no Clive – that’s not what you’d like to believe! Well, I don’t think it is) then for being too sensitive – so carry on upsetting, ‘Burger, I’m still calm.
Ah well, now I’ve calmed down I realise I was, perhaps, over-reacting a little. Please try to understand Cheeseburger. These are very stressful times for all of us.
Agreed. Wolves ay we. All of us.
They do say the bookies know what they’re doing. After all it’s their money on the line.
http://news.ladbrokes.com/football/latest-whataretheodds-request-anticipates-huge-future-for-wolves.html?
I saw a Wasp earlier today. It was gold and black. Here is an interesting theory. Could it have been a Chinese Wasp which had been subsumed by the Spanish Plume bringing the hot weather up from North Africa? My guess is the Chinese are interested in jet stream activity and Mr Li may have sent the Wasp to Wolverhampton in order to check out the mood amongst fans. The evidence of the Wasp could be crucial to an announcement very soon. Only thing is a Northerly breeze is required to propel the Wasp back towards China. This could unduly delay proceedings.
What on earth goes through your head cheeseburger ?
Cheeseburger what have they put in the beer in Gormal?
Spike Milligan was a hero of mine. Complete nutter.
One of mine as well along with the Goons
The telegraph recon that Chinese group Fosun http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/2/840656155?-300:786:0
Is true….
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/07/19/wolves-to-be-sold-to-chinese-conglomorate-with-ties-to-jose-mour/
Am disappointed as the Chairman of Fosun International is only worth £7.3 billion. Flipping cheapskate!
On the up side they own Thomas Cook Club Med and the Lloyd’s of London buildings so can’t see the Money Shop lasting long as shirt sponsors in that sort of company.
Who cares though – if it happens it could be Christmas, my birthday and New Years Eve all rolled into one. The only way is up!
P.S. Clive you may need to amend your usual sign off to FOsunWb!
Please make this true. It will be fuckin massive. Glad I got my early bird in March. Brilliant !
Chairman might be worth £7billion but it’s unlikely he’ll be investing his own money in Wolves.
This is just another example of post-Brexit asset stripping. With the collapse of the GBPound on foreign currency markets, everything here is cheap. I suspect Fosun are just picking up a bargain they can sell at a profit in a few years time.
OK, one of the consequences of this might be we get into the Premier League for a short time, but I don’t believe these people care too much about the long term future of Wolverhampton Wanderers; just quick profit!
I expect, in the near future, Steve Morgan might not seem quite so bad after all, although I’m sure opinions of Jez Moxey won’t change.
Sometimes I wish destiny had pointed me in the direction of the Pleck – life would be so much simpler.
Be careful what you wish for?
God, I hope I’m wrong!
Harry
Surprised at the negativity surronding our possible purchase by a massive company with billions of pounds of resource available to them.
Posted the below on the E&S site this morning:
If Fosun International complete the takeover of Wolves expect the following (not fact just IMO):
1. A complete restructuring of Wolves football football management including manager, coach, scouting and player developement.
2. Appointment of a Director of Foootball.
3. Sufficient investment to give Wolves a real chance of reaching and staying in the Premiership.
4. Ground redevelopement with local infrastructure including a hotel and other retail around stadium (the Steve Morgan blueprint)
5. Global franchising of the Wolves brand including asia and american ‘Wolves’ clubs.
6. Moneyshop phased out of Wolves sponsorship.
7. Exit strategy by Fosun 5-10 years.
This takeover will transform Wolves into a global brand, its irrelavant whether Moxey stays in the short term because the business plan and investment is totally different to anything that we have seen before and Moxey will be a long way from being involved in football matters.
Its going to be a massive change for long term Wolves supporters and if you ask some Man City fans it ain’t all great.
Sit back and enjoy the ride……………….
I agree Harry I would be a bit wary about this lot
Agree with Harry and Johnny but English football is now a global product commanding big money. What can you do but hope your new owner is more successful than some of the others. We have nearly all agreed that its pointless expecting the current manager to do anything with the current squad. I am sure the new owners will want a Premier league team. I dont think Mendes and Lopetegui would be involved otherwise. Fecking hope so anyway.
He apparently mysteriously disappeared last December when Chinese authorities wanted a “chat”
I wonder if delay is down to fit and proper persons due diligence by FA?
Why am I now feeling nervous about this takeover? I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that this isn’t going to be the golden ticket after all. Hope I am wrong.
My dad watched a terrific wolves side in 50 s . My sister watched a good side in the late sixteens With Peter knowles and a young Douglan , I was lucky enough to see the tail end of that side and the emergence of Richards Eves Hibbitt gray etc … Same as most people 50 plus ,you can come to London /Ireland / Malta/ Sweden / even as far as the states and find wolves supporters groups of some sort .Crossed paths with the wolves and you became wolves forever . Since the victory over forest ( I haven’t forgot bully ) in the league cup 1980 …. What have we done except struggle ?
How are our new fans for life ( outside of Wolverhampton ) going to be inspired to support wolves . Something must change before we lose a whole generation of would be wolves fans .
I don’t think we have much to lose at this point
So you are actually younger than you look.
Interesting.
To be fair Linden if the Chinese authorities wanted a ‘chat’ with me i think i might disappear (seriously I take your point). Agree with London it is what it is we are where we are.
Yes Colin you are right. It is just the not knowing that eats away at you!
Never an easy ride being a Wolves fan is it?
No that anyone realised I was away (don’t even bother commenting Clive), but I am now reporting back in!!
Not for long though as I am away again in September, but this time on a break not due to work.
Was gobsmacked at the amount of all the new posts, and as ever the fantastic updates, comments, views etc etc.
Keep it up guys, this blog is amazing.
Hi there Brompto’. Long time no hear.
Have you taken off that ‘Prediction League Winner’ T’shirt yet? If you’re that good at predictions, we could do with a bit of info on the next couple of weeks. We have a selection of wasps and psychic fleas but they’re proving a little unreliable.
Who are ya?
Who are ya?
Who are ya?
As you’ve been away for a while you might not be aware that there is 25 point handicap being applied to the Prediction League for last year’s winner. Good luck!
Wassup, Chalkie!!
What IS the inside of Broadmoor like, then?
Welcome back Brompton! Good to hear from you.
I feel that, just as we shouldn’t all go overboard thinking our future is a golden path with new mega-rich owners, we shouldn’t condemn them out of hand as a bunch of robbing charlatans. This is a prime example of ‘only time will tell’.
Hopefully previous occasions of takeovers that didn’t have the interests of the club and it’s fans at heart have alerted the football authorities to these problems and the fit and proper persons test will be some kind of safeguard. Several clubs have done very nicely thankyou following injections of foreign riches and I prefer to think(hope) that we will be one of those.
As I said, only time will tell.
I agree regarding the fit and proper testing thing – but then I remembered Massimo Cellino at Leeds!
Calling all fellow bloggists.
Let’s have a mighty, heartfelt Happy Birthday for The Dooglegooder!
He is 75 today!!!
Happy Birthday, Old Fart!!!
I shall definitely give an almighty encore to that Clive. 75 is he. Wow, he doesn’t look a day over 74.
Have a great day DG.
Happy Birthday Dogger
Please see today,s report in the Birmingham Mail. It is up to date with the facts and gives some very good views. I just don,t know why the Express and Star casnnot come up with a report like this but they just Copy and past.
And so it begins all over again………I shall be online early tomorrow getting my ticket for Rotherham, which is only 3 train stations away from work in Chesterfield, U just have to go!?1? some habits you just can`t break.
Now if the latest rumours have any credence, and its sometime in the next 2 weeks for confidentiality reasons that a supposed takeover will happen, then we are left with only a few days to maybe splash the cash and get some new players in before 3pm on the 6th August.
It may not be Morgan`s or Moxey`s fault re the timings, but even so, yet another apparent fiasco of managerial incompetence, and oh by the way chaps….
whats happened to the £7m left from selling Afobe, and van Parra £750k to Huddersfield. I think we can all guess where that’s gone…and its not into the football side of the business.
I hope the sun shines for the first match and by some miracle we get the three points. I`m not holding my breath for that or the so called takeover.
Thank you to all my fellow idiots who wished me a happy birthday.
Just pleased to have reached it still standing.
And to Colin…
How did you know?
Was it you in the black hoody and trousers round your ankles?
Happy birthday Mark. I am assuming Clive’s assertion that you are 75 was one of his jokes as having met you in May you can’t possibly be. Any road up have a great birthday young man.
Happy Birthday DOOOOOOOG. Here’s to many more mate……… Hope that Sue is taking care of your every need…..!!
Oh btw ….there’s nothing wrong with dogging ….ask any voyeur !!!!
Happy birthday Mark. I’ll buy you a drink if your around for the Reading game.
Happy birthday young fellow – and a fitting birthday present from Morgan I note.
Have a great day Mr Earle. I hope your good lady treats you well.
Always a pleasure Doog
I’m not going to apologise for being cautious about this take-over.
The Birmingham Mail/Financial Times report seems to suggest he hasn’t done anything to upset the Chinese government but experience has taught me that things aren’t always what they seem.
I’ve been supporting Wolves for over 50 years; I’m probably one of the few people on here who have watched a Wolves team win an FA Cup.
My great hero was Derek Dougan and he could do no wrong in my eyes. So, when he died and the obituaries started to appear, it came as a shock to discover that he didn’t exactly pull his weight for Blackburn playing against us in that very same Cup Final.
But, I still love him!
Now, to the current situation: this Chinese billionaire and his buddies trying to buy Wolves might very well be the open-handed benefactors we all want. But, he’s a billionaire, from China. Do you think he got to where he is by being nice?
Even if this consortium’s desire to make shed-loads of money results in them turning Wolves into a Champions League winning side, I’m not sure I’ll feel comfortable thinking about all the poor buggers who’ve been scalped to make those billions.
At least Steve Morgan built houses and his only offence seems to be selling them at inflated prices which most of the people from my background can’t afford.
Hypocrite that I am, I still want to see Wolves stuffing Barcelona one day.
Harry
P.S. Someone mention Peter Knowles? I got a slap round the head off him for asking for his autograph while he was busy chatting up a woman on the Social Club car park – but he was a bloody good footballer so he’s forgiven.
The only way they’ll make serious money out of us is to make us successful. The big bucks are in the Premier League and Europe and if that’s their aim them most of us won’t be too disappointed.
Wow! Sam Allardyce the new England manager! Big Sam from Dudley – sorry Dud-lie – as the new Sir ALF. Who’s have thunk it?
Yup, Big Sam from the wren’s nest estate.
Gets more interesting / confusing by the day…Baidu now NOT buying AC Milan…
http://www.thestandard.com.hk/section-news.php?id=171752
Well here’s good luck to Sam Allardyce.
On more important matters, we tick off one more day in the transfer saga. The case for Fosun International becomes stronger by the hour, the latest being this http://www.thestandard.com.hk/section-news.php?id=171799.
17 days till the new season starts.
???? days till we get a new owner, probably a new manager and possibly a truck load of expensive Portuguese, Argentinian and Brazilian players.
Can’t remember anything this close since the early to mid 80’s though then it was a question of whether we would get wound up before the new season started.
Talking of getting wound up……..I certainly am right now!
Many seasons ago, at the birth of our wonderful blog, I used to call some of the fellow bloggers at the time, who were not all the brightest sparks in the picnic, clockwork mice, coz I could wind them up and off they go!!
Hope this is not the same sort of shit, and greasel and rudolph are loffin’ all the way to the bank, thanks to extra season ticket sales.
They are just dumb enough to have that as the limit of their financial ambitions!!!
BBC 5 LIVE Thurs 21 July. Announcement expeced today. Fosun are the new owners.
Yipee! Never mention there names again.
“Full steam ahead Mr Fosun!” From Yellow Submarine by the Beatles.
That’s not meant to be racist by the way.
Pretty much confirmed on BBC’s website…
http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36852323
Not long now, surely!??
Oh dear. Looks like it could be a memorable day, one way or another. At least it will put an end to this interminable torment of not knowing. I just can’t take anymore. I just want to go into a trance and take all the pain away. 🙂
Looks like it’s finally about to be done.
Will Moxey survive
TODAY’S THE DAY!!!!!!
In the words of Poco from their song ‘Rose Of Cimarron’;
DUSTY DAYS ARE GONE
Message to that dreadful pathetic timid little Scouse Mouse Morgan – no, it’s unrepeatable!
Yippee!!!!!!!!!
“Oh what a beautiful morning” as the song goes.
Looks like it’s happened
Each and every one of you lot and me .. Proper supporters! Absolutely deserve this
A little song has just sprang to mind
Who the fuck are man united
Who the fuck are man united
Who the fuck are man united
And the wolves go marching on on on
Finally a bit of real sunshine!
Hold on to your hats then!
A new dawn for our beloved club and a Wolves fan as the New England manager!
With apologies to all fans of musical theatre and film musicals;
I feel happy
Oh so happy
I feel happy and clappy and bright
And I pity
Any fan who isn’t me today
P.S. Come on StuWolf – time to return to the fold and join in the celebrations young man. As Linden says not only new owners and a new dawn but a Dudley boy and Wolves fan as England manager ……………….oh hang on your a miserable old Scots git aren’t you.
Off to sunny Pembrokeshire today in the tRUSTY campervan to return the aged parent to her home so I’ll be off air for a while.
So I shall let my feelings be known now.
I’m quite pleased.
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBLOOOOOOOOOOOODYRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a great time. I was born and bred in Pembrokeshire and when I visit my brother and his family I always say “I am going down home”.
🙂
P.S. Belated happy birthday 🙂
Home is where the heart is. Once a Celt that’s it, you’ll always be one, its in the blood and you know you’re different. I guess its a bit like being a Wolves supporter.
Cheers sevlow!
Spent the night in the Campervan at Freshwater West – one of my favourite spots in the entire world.
Just a few seagulls and a couple of surfer dudes to keep us company.
Bliss!
Well, well, well. Brilliant news (I think).
Lots of money could (should) be released and if it is then we are on our way.
Super rich owner at last ching ching (or should that be chink chink)……
Interesting that there is not a squeak, mention, hint or rumour on the sanitized site about the supposedly biggest thing, almost, in the club’s history, just a load of bollocks about how near some of the under 21’s are to the first team, whatever that is, after narrowly beating mighty Cork City, who played their second string team as well.
Still think Cheesy’s jellyfish is in there somewhere.
I am seriously underwhelmed so far.
Come on China, prove me wrong and announce the signing of several players, new coach/manager and of course ceo.
Until then, lot of breath holding going on in South Texas.
Just seen a tweet saying Julen Lopetegui has been appointed Spain’s new national coach. Another unexpected twist in the takeover saga? Wrong buyers, wrong replacement manager, what next???
Yes just seen it on Sky Sports News.
What now?
Surely someone else? Surely not a stay of execution for Kenny?
That announcement made at pretty much same time as Official confirmation that purchase has gone through so buyers must have known and asked for him/Spain not to reveal news until Wolves deal was done. As Spain announcement was expected early last week they’ll have had time to approach others so more surprises in store. Don’t think it will be Kenny staying on, that didn’t appear to be any of the options discussed except for if the takeover failed.
I’ve just spoken to Stu Wolf and said once the news goes official then he’d better be back here and join in the celebrations or else..
I’m just thinking what I will write once we go live..a bit of anti-climax or shock that it is actually happening to US?!
On a more fascinating note I am thinking who currently out of our squad will feature in the new team and I can only think of 3…
The most amusing thing so far is that one of the players we are buying is actually worth more than the whole team is at the moment..
Incidentally.. K Mac to my knowledge hasn’t landed at Fulham yet..
I wonder why…..
COYW
Considering changing my psuedonym to FOSUNWolf?
If Stu returns he can change his handle to Hong Kong Stuey.
Good news let the signings begin.
If he doesn’t return soon he’ll be Long Gone Stuey.
Come back Stu – we miss you.
David Moyes it is then..?
I must admit to being quite unconcerned by Senor Lopetegui’s appointment as Spain coach. I didn’t really think he was the man for the job anyway.
I wonder how that will affect the proposed signings of the several Portuguese players that have been hinted at? If Mr Fosun reads this, and I’m sure he does, can he please make an appointment with Championship experience, or at least experience of the hurley-burley of English football. And please Mr Fosun, get on with it. Time is short.

Not long got up on nights, am I dreaming is this the real life or is this just fantasy, caught in a landslide……no escape from reality……….open your eyes and seeeeeeeeeeeee…….
We’re just a poor club……………NOT anymore. I never thought I’d see this happen in my life time I know people have been saying they just want to get us to the Premier League and make money out of us, well I’m not bothered as long as they keep us there even if we do a Stoke, what was the alturnative with Morgan…….years in the Championship or worse going no where slowing draining the life blood out of the club…!
Moxey’s gone! Yeeeeeeeeeeees!?
Don’t crucify me for this bedders .. But I think seeing as julen el thingyo has taken the Spain job then Kenny should stay and be backed .
He. Knows this division inside out … If I’m honest ,as much as I would liked to see these top foreign players turn up , how would they fair at rotherham on a Tuesday night in the pissing rain after gracing a pitch in Monaco in the champions league ?
Cmon .. You know what I’m saying , when our millionaire stars played in the championship after playing in the prem … We just dropped through like a stone (.. # heads gone and all that )
Get Sako back . Experienced striker . Centre half .. And make McDonald happy to stay . Get rid of jez
Moxey so as to put some spirit back in the side .
I had this discussion with stu wolf . We have some good players at wolves capable of winning this league but with four or five additions .
Wholesale changes and a manager with no experience in this division could be a disaster !
No crucifying LWL. I agree with every word.
Moxey and Morgan gone on the same day, brilliant. We’ll remember 21st July 2016 as a joyous day in the rich tapestry of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Well it’s been officially announced on the Wolves web site.
Moxey also leaving.
Press Conference on Monday
Out of Darkness Cometh Light
Official statement from Wolves (just in case you haven’t seen it yet);
Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club (Wolves) are delighted to confirm that a sale and purchase agreement has been signed which sees the transfer of the 100% ownership in Wolves and all its assets from Steve Morgan CBE and his Bridgemere Group to Fosun Group (Fosun) headed by Chairman Guo Guangchang.
The purchase of Wolves by Fosun has been approved and fully ratified by the English Football League (EFL) and its board of directors. The financial terms of the transaction are private and confidential between the parties.
Fosun are one of the largest investment groups in China. They have stakes in various projects worldwide, including: Club Med, Cirque du Solei, Folli Follie and Studio 8 etc. Fosun have attached great importance to UK-based investments and they currently have interests in Thomas Cook, Silver Cross, and Resolution Property.
Steve Morgan CBE steps down after nine years as Wolves’ owner, during which time the Club secured the 2008/09 Sky Bet Championship title and then spent three consecutive seasons in the Premier League for the first time in 30 years. Steve has also worked tirelessly on improving the facilities at both Molineux Stadium and the Club’s training ground which are among the best facilities in the country.
Visit http://www.wolves.co.uk to read Steve’s open letter thanking Fosun, the staff, players and fans.
Fosun will currently have a football club board consisting of four people. Mr Jeff Shi, who led the negotiations on behalf of Fosun, will become the Club’s representative, alongside him will be Mr Sky Sun. Local businessmen and Wolves fans John Bowater and John Gough will also continue to serve as non-executive board members.
After being heavily involved in the sale of the Club to new owners, Chief Executive, Jez Moxey, has decided now is the right time to step down after 16 years’ of service to Wolves. However, Jez will remain in his role for up to three months to ensure a smooth transition. Wolves have begun the search for a new Chief Executive.
Also stepping down from the Wolves Board will be Ashley Lewis, Bridgemere Group’s Finance Director, who joined the Board when Steve Morgan resigned as Wolves Chairman in 2015.
Jez will be attending a press conference with Jeff Shi, Fosun/Wolves’ representative, on Monday, 25th July, 2016.
“We are delighted to have completed the deal to become the new owners of such a famous and historic club as Wolves,” said Jeff Shi.
“We owe a great debt of gratitude to Steve Morgan for taking such good care of the Club and for placing his trust in us to become the new custodians of Wolves. During our conversations Steve’s great passion and vision for the Club and Wolverhampton was very clear and we feel privileged to pick up the baton from him.
“And also to Jez Moxey for his tremendous contribution to Wolves. We are sad to see him leave, but after 16 years of loyal service we understand why he has chosen this moment as the right time to move on and we wish him well.
“We would also like to thank the hugely loyal and passionate Wolves supporters, and all the Club staff, for their patience whilst our discussions were ongoing. We hope they will be pleased with, and supportive of, our exciting plans for Wolves.
“Football is enjoying a huge growth in China and, of course, is England’s national sport. As part of our strategy, it makes perfect sense to buy a great Football Club.
“Our goal is crystal clear: we will do our very best to help take Wolves back to the Premier League as soon as possible and to stay there. We believe the Club and the fans belong at the top of English football and getting there is our first and top priority.
“However, we will continue to develop and enhance Wolves Academy and to create more and more young talent for the first team and to keep it as one of the very best in football. We also understand the importance of the Club’s role within Wolverhampton and the surrounding communities and that is something we are determined to continue.
“We are fully aware that achieving success for Wolves will not be easy. It will take hard work, resources, determination and togetherness. We will work with everyone who supports Wolves to help create a bright future for this great Club.
“We can’t wait to get started on the exciting times ahead and look forward to a long and ultimately successful ownership of Wolves.”
Sounds like a plan.
I’m smiling – my face is splitting from ear to f*ck*ng ear I’m so happy.
The missus asked if I had wind!
Onward and upward gentlemen. Onward and upward. I’m so overjoyed I can hardly breathe.
Goodbye greasel goodbye
Goodbye greasel goodbye
We’ll see you again, fuck off ’til then
Goodbye greasel goodbye
Interesting that this all happens one day after Doogle’s birthday, and whilst Stuwolf is AWOL
And, right after Doogle found enough money to go to “The Golden Palace”
Methinks he leads consortium, and Stuwolf will be new team coach, ferrying players to games one at a time on his tandem!!
Happy days are here again……..I hope
Fowb
It just couldn’t be that KJ would still in the seat..after all his failings with new investment it would be overkill retrograde..
We need and deserve one of the best managers we certainly can pay for him ..KJ
would be nonsense..
Sako back would be the obvious move back I must say…
Steve, that surprised me a bit I must say, as I really thought that Kenny would be leaving. This will now be interesting. He did okay for us when he had good players, but when they were sold he started to become frustrating. If we get in 5 to 8 new players that will test him to see how he plays them. I believe that if he does not hit the ground running we could be in for a testing time. I still hang on to my view though that this first season of takeover will see us re-establishing ourselves and the proper fight for premiership status will occur next season once all holes are filled.
Let’s see what they have in place re manager, set-up & new players.
Guess the Press Conference Monday and the rumours in between, will keep us all on our toes.
We must see what Jeff Shi has up his sleeve!
Personally hope Jackett is replaced.
Nice chap but limited ability.

“….achieving success for Wolves will not be easy.” And don’t we all know that, but this is the best chance of our lifetimes – well, other than way, way back – and for the current/next generation. So Wolfstroker, for goodness sake get your breath back, you’ll need it at the end of season celebrations we trust we can look forward to.
Just hoping that Mr Shi knows his Feng Shui and doesn’t get things mixed up with Cirque du Soleil (interesting forward line?!), Club Med (discount hols for supporters?!), Folly Follie (wtf???!!) or Thomas Cook (well, until we’re back in Europe) and that they are genuinely committed to this ‘famous and historic club’ and achieve that fame and write more history in the years to come.
And Ben…..certainly the apology was misplaced. You were just ahead of your time!
Hoping for end-of-season celebrations Peak. But I won’t be holding my breath. 🙂
Reasons to be cheerful
1. Moxey gone (or will be in 3 months)
2. Morgan gone.
I have not been so overjoyed sine the day many years ago we slapped the shit on their own ground.
I am going down the pub tonight to take the piss out of some shit supporters and those of a Small Heath persuasion, fortunately we do not have any known Vile supporters in the Hostelry that the missus and I frequent. I intend to have a good Steak and get moderately rat arsed. (No Chinese served (food that is) this is a good local rural pub in the wilds of South Shropshire.
If I am sober enough tomorrow I will spend the time dreaming of who may become manager and which players we will be buying but until then I am just enjoying the moment.
