The kindest thing I can say is that I didn’t see this coming.
Brighton are good, but boy, were we bad.
A totally spineless, idiotic performance littered with some of the worst individual errors I’ve ever seen from a Wolves team.
Matheus Nunes can’t have played a worse game of football in his 24 years on earth. He was personally responsible for at least two of the goals and I cannot fathom why Julen Lopetegui kept him on the pitch. It was borderline masochistic.
He was the headline act of this seaside horror show but well supported by a stellar cast including Sa, Collins and Kilman who all chipped in with comical mistakes to contribute to the emphatic scoreline.
I suppose the manager has to take a hefty old dollop of blame for a tactical setup that seemed to create the type of open game that Brighton dream about. Time and again they played through our midfield and exposed our backline with penetrating runs. It probably should have been more.
But even with the best game plan in the world, you can’t account for some of the giveaways his players offered up. They simply have to do better.
Predictably, we couldn’t make anything of the oceans of space they afforded our own attackers on the break with Podence, Neto, Hwang and yes, that man Nunes, all squandering good positions to at least put us on the board.
I would extend credit to Pedro Neto for a typically industrious performance, but it can’t be ignored that his inability to convert good positions into goals has been a problem whenever he’s been fit in this challenging season.
I’m not sure why Matheus Cunha wasn’t used at all having played a key role in our recent successes while the hapless Podence went through his usual routine of running into people and rolling around on the floor.
He is one of a number of players that must be hanging by a thread if Lopetegui is intent on building a more robust, consistent side to compete in the Premier League.
Based on this laughable effort, we’re still a long way off.
We live to fight another Day, every dog has a day.
Yes…you’re right. It’s best for us to move on to the next game and not ponder on this too much.
That didn’t just happen did it?
That was THE WORST performance from a Wolves side since the heady days of Dean Saunders.
It was like they were a scratch pub team who had met for the first time after a few jars and took to the field with their boots on the wrong feet.
How many ways can you find to give goals away?
The only player who was worthy of any sort of positive mention was Pedro Neto.
And the competition for non player of the match was a close one for a while but in the end Matheus Nunes won at a canter – or should I say a stumble.
Having said that, Brighton are a VERY good side and would probably have beaten us even if we had turned up.
The fact that we still have a better goal difference than most of the other relegation candidates says more about them than it does us.
Must do better!
Ouch. Not a good day to be beside the seaside. Away boys and girls did their best to make some noise. But a few empty seats on 65 mins.
Need a big performance against the Vile.
KTF
That’s the Wolves DNA beat Liverpool 3.0 loose by 6 to Brighton
I dont think in my life time things will ever change..
The good and the very bad.
We are not going down but boy what aseason
You missed the ugly!
loose ?
Well I was fuming but I always try to find perspective when this sort of stuff happens. Spurs at Newcastle. Yanited at Liverpool. Liverpool at Leeds. If you are not on your A game and things run for the opposition it can happen. Not excusing the team or manager. Not in the slightest. You don’t put a team out and expect to get stuffed 6-0. I think the best thing we can do is dust ourselves down and get up for a big derby against the European champions (1982). I don’t expect the same thing will happen next week. The Forest injury time defeat has ensured the damage today is minimal. I am just counting the games down and can’t wait for this sorry season to be over. I still think we will get at least 1 more win and ensure the much fabled ’40 points’ and considering where we were that won’t be a bad achievement.
Like you CoD, very angry.
After unrestrained and deserved applause for a battling victory on Tuesday we apparently produced a non performance today by a bunch of overpaid wimps who are all paid millions a year to represent us and our club.
We all have right to be angry.
Embarrassing
Totally unacceptable, get rid of the shirkers.
Agree mate
Initial reaction.
Have only what I’ve read and heard to make a judgement but the magnitude and manner of the defeat says it all. We all thought we were safe but we aren’t because on this performance we won’t pick up another point and we effectively dropped 4 today with the gd taken into account.
Just wonder if something is going on in the background between the club and Machiavelli Mendes and his band of mercenaries many of whom are self declared wantaways and seem to have downed tools in the mistaken belief it’s job done.
Assuming we do get away with it there’s a massive job to be done in the close season by JL and “the recruitment team” (whoever they are). Clear out those who aren’t committed to the cause – particularly guilty on this basis are of course Guedes plus Nunes, A.Traore, Semedo, Podence, Ait-Nouri, Jiminez and marginally Silva and Neto. Along with the magnificent Neves that should raise a couple of hundred million towards the rebuild but sorry Jeff and Guo with that vacuum you’ll have to put your hands in your pockets again as well to fill the huge void otherwise we’ll be doing an Everton and rolling over the crisis till next time.
The WWFC roller coaster just hit the down section again.
Yes but come Monday night a team be it Forest Everton or Leicester will be in the bottom 3 and will have no more than 30 points. This means in effect whoever it is in 18th will need to win 2 and draw 2 of their last 4 games to get above us. This is highly unlikely. I will say that out of that bottom 4 none of them will exceed 35 points. Famous last words ! As for the rest of your post PJB. Well you are well documented in your viewpoint.
I agree CoD, it would take a massive statistical quirk to see us go down. But that doesn’t excuse what happened today and other than in the dark days of Docherty or Connor/Saunders I can’t recall such a yellow bellied capitulation.
Yes totally agree mate. You looked at J Lo on the line with Brighton fans laughing their heads off in the background. He must have been embarrassed. Maybe to blame as well Anyway. It’s gone now. Move on.
Why did JL change back from the recently very successful 4-4-2 formation – bringing shed load of welcome points – I do wonder about his judgement sometimes – albeit he’s done wonders for us overall ?
It’s embarrassing but doesn’t define us.
Jlo was charged with keeping us in this league and he’s pretty much achieved that.
We move on and see what happens next season.
NOTHING TO SEE HERE!
I agree Prawny. To take the longer view is the right way, but but it`s very hard to watch an abysmal performance such as this and say nothing .
Only good thing was I decided not to get up at 2am to watch it ,but I got the 6am call from a utd fan to take the piss.
To put things into perspective a lot of teams this year have taken a spanking it’s how we bounce back is the question, Nunes has had 2 good games but returned to type , most of our troubles usually start on our right but we’ve got no one to come on and we’re looking at left backs go figure
That will be Newcastle United then? Not sure how you know we are looking at left backs. Time will tell.
A real reality check in which everyone wearing our shirt was found to be sorely wanting. No heart; no pride: only a pathetic ability to roll over.
This was a totally spineless performance by overpaid prima donnas, too many of whom demonstrated that they have no real regard for the future of our beloved club. If they have any sense of decency at all, this bunch of mercenaries should reach into their overstuffed wallets and offer to repay all the costs incurred by the thousands of faithful supporters, who were conned into making a nine hour round trip to the south coast to watch them hoist up white flags and abjectly surrender.
But what about the performance of our coach ? How could he possibly have continued with Nunes as a make shift full back given his diabolical first half non-performance? And how reassuring it was to see that at 4-0 down at half time he sent on Collins, the ultimate defensive calamity, to shore up our porous defense !!
It`s probably unworthy to single out other individuals from today`s inglorious shambles, but how can we play game after game with a goal keeper who`s general distribution is appalling, but since this appears not generous enough then seems intent on passing the ball directly a to an attacker and present him with an outright gift ? This is becoming almost routine. Is it not the time to give an opportunity to the new guy signed from Bristol City ?
Irrespective, If ever proof was needed of the absolute necessity for a major clear out in the summer, this had to be it. We can only hope that Lop is sufficiently strong to insist upon his right to oversee this process,
Thumbs up from me Mike.
If one was to be really cynical the non substitution might have something to do with sell on value.
This was the same team who ran through brick walls to get the win v Palace.
Almost the same C o D but not entirely. And the formation was entirely different.
In the games against Brentford and Palace we adopted a definitive 442 systgem. Cunha fed off Diego, and we saw the beginning of a useful understanding / partnership. But today Cunha was left out leaving Diego isolated and without any support up front.
With four in midfield we controlled the game, which also gave great protection to the back four. No goals were conceded, confidence was boosted and points put on the board. Today we were over run in midfield, which proved fatal
In both the winning games Nunes played in a position he knows and understands, and was consistently dangerous. Today in the first half he was played wide left, a position in which he is patently unsuited and he contributed nothing. Then he ended up as a makeshift right back who frankly seemed not to know whether he was on foot or horseback. A huge liability.
Surely these fundamental changes must have had a negative impact on the team. Why change a winning format just when results were coming through ? Only Lop can explain these decisions — but they certainly did not work !!
But irrespective of the above it is the case that the nine guys who played in the winning games with such determination and commitment — which we all rightly lauded — did not turn up today. They gave us nothing, and for that they are very rightly being hammered.
I’m going to ignore today’s result and concentrate on what happens next.
Bad day in the office today… bring on Villa.
COYW
Loppy has to take a big chunk of the blame for this spineless performance. Why change a winning team and change formation.
Every time he has done this we lose the game and yeah every player in a gold shirt today should pay those fans that travelled down to Brighton there expenses and some.
What do they think we are safe……..and loppy needs to get angry with these players and show some leadership.
One player I’ve noticed who has really gone off the boil is Killman he ambles round the pitch shows not sign of urgency it’s as if he thinks ” I’ve made it ” I….don’t have to bother anymore I’m first on the team sheet attitude.
Complacicy has set in they were all in beach mode. Jo. Lo. needs to put a rocket up them and tell them he won’t stand for those type of performances.
Just got back from the game. Those on here who are saying it was a bad day at the office, put it behind us etc are I think somewhat missing the point. This was a chilling dissection of just how mediocre too many of our playing squad are and why as I posted after the palace game, JL still has so much work to do to ensure we don’t simply re run next season what has happened this year. Neither should JL escape blame for this absolutely horrendous performance. Tactically, our approach to a team who play with a very distinctive style was unfathomable and neither our players nor JL did anything to learn from the repetitious errors they made throughout the game. Whilst JL deserves praise for amassing points to give us a good chance of survival, this demonstrated that too many of this squad are over priced mediocrity spawned by a not fit for purpose transfer strategy driven by Shi and Mendes ( thank god JL has now wrestled some control of this). Look at the Brighton squad and how much they have spent assembling it versus our own to truly see how poor we have been. Sa simply cannot play the next game, he is a good shot stopper and commands his box but his distribution cost us 2 possibly 3 of the goals today and invites pressure onto our back line every time he gets the ball.
Hopefully we survive but if any Wolves fan thinks we still don’t need wide scale recycling of our squad to make us properly competitive next year, you are frankly deluded. Brighton played on a completely level and so well done to them- a proper team, with talent and purpose, assembled shrewdly and coached exceptionally. At the moment I’m afraid we are not ticking any of that list consistently and so all aspects of our club both on and off the pitch needs to improve.
Sutton
We are overrun with Mendes second string or transient players. Long gone are the days of signings in the class of Neves, Jota, Moutinho and co. Time has come to stop the tail wagging the dog for good.
PJB you really have to let this Mendez infatuation go. You can’t simply blame him every time we do t win a match.
This group of players despite yesterday’s shit show have us on post World Cup form sniffing around the lower European places. I’m not excusing yesterday’s performance but we need to look beyond one off performances.
Prawny
I’m not blaming Mendes for losing matches but my perceived view is of a decline in his value to the club. With the possible exception of Sa can you claim that any Gestitute signings since Neto nearly 4 years ago have been an unqualified success, but I can think of plenty that haven’t. Jordao, Trincao, Vitinha, Ait-Nouri, Podence, Semedo, Silva and Nunes spring readily to mind.
But far worse is the disruption due to his cynical opportunism regarding sell on of players in early to mid contract as soon as they start to become productive, Jota being the prime example but also Neto before his injury last year. Rather than being an ally to the club latterly he has taken on the role of chief mischief maker.
The players you mention are all decent and in some cases have proved it after leaving us.
My only criticism is perhaps we’ve brought players in without proper consultation with the coach of the time. They’ve possibly been brought in to sell on at a profit rather than to fit into the team.
As for the players on your list who are still with us, without the benefit of hindsight I don’t see anyone we wouldn’t sight again.
Apart from Jota, who have we sold on (1) at a profit and (2) who you have been sad to see go? None and no- one in my view. You make many valid points but are barking up the wrong tree here. What you say about Neto is just heresay. We have patently not been a selling club.
Oh, we need a complete recycling and review of the squad alright,
I just want to get our priorities right and reach the end of the season and stay up with the squad that we are stuck with first and then worry about what our board are going to do with the team later…??
It is quite obvious that any team that loses 6-0 to Brighton has a long term problem to fix.
As have Spurs lost 6-1 at Newcastle. Man Utd lost 7-0 at liverpool.
Wasn’t that long ago Brighton were like us just surviving. Things can turn around quite quickly.
I’ve never liked Seagulls, noisy, predatory birds, only a chromosome away from a Pterodactyl. Not the sort you want around when you’re tucking into your end of season chips.
As nightmares go, Hitchcock would’ve been proud of this one. But sadly we’ve been getting used to these AWOL end of season batterings, since Nuno’s first PL season saw us qualify for Europe. Even J-Lo stopped jumping about after the 3rd went in, just standing there aghast. Trouble is it sets a bad tone for the summer and start of next season. Let alone the remaining fixtures which I feel we need a win and a draw from, for our own peace of mind and PL credibility.
We don’t want to lose to Villa. So forget about the day off, back to work Monday.
1 lv & COYW.
Perspective needed.
The WORST Performance ever seen since clipboard won the lottery ?
But…there’s many on here that believed that we were in the championship, had the worst players and that Geoff shi was putins alter ego…
97 percent safe when it looked precarious..a fabulous squad of world class players and money to boot…consider Charlton
Probably never see them ever again anywhere near the championship let alone the premiership.
Theis result is a complete one off..
Can’t imagine what happened in the dressing room today.
Just keep the faith people
Good point re: The Addicks. Even by recent standards they’ve had a poor season. In the 3rd division. Again. They stopped locking up The Valley a few weeks ago. 1 lv.
Thanks Rast’
Wr need to look at the season as a whole.
It really was a total cocktail yesterday but what the Boss has done to turn around our season is totally remarkable at the very least.
After the palace win a lot of us were saying that we can now play with freedom
We certainly did today ,we gave Brighton all the freedom they wanted and when they didn’t have the ball we obliged in giving it back to them.
And if that wasn’t enough we made sure they put the ball in the back of the net as much as possible by creating the situations for them to score at least 4 of their goals,,hope they count as assists for us in the stats because we couldn’t have made it any easier for them today
Must be one of the poorest displays we witness in along time , our players must have been brainwashed by Loppy when he said Brighton were one of the best teams in the world so they decided not to bother to turn up today and save their energy for the beach later on today
We’re not quite safe yet so Loppy needs to use some reverse psychology and get them up for the remaining games as we don’t need to be fretting on getting points or hoping for other results to favour us ( as we haven’t had any luck so far this season ) by the time we play Arsenal
I think JLo must’ve took them all out on the piss after Tuesday’s heroics.
Gotta question the subs, he should’ve changed things after we went 2 down, the writing was on the wall from that point.
How Nunes stayed on the pitch is beyond my comprehension. Although i think Sa stitched him up with that pass with 2 Brighton players bearing down on him. Sa got rid of the ball like it was a hot potato.
Neto starting too seemed like a bad move, yes he looked lively but it’s a well trodden path that has not paid dividends especially with Costa’s lack of pace to go with him.
Lets hope JLo can use what he saw today to help shape the team next season. The job is done this season so maybe he needs to look at the squad before the window opens, could be a painful run in if so.
They were lucky
What no one can take away or dispute is the absolute fact J Lo has achieved 27 points from 19 games. Which in my book is exactly HALF a season. So if you average that out over a season it’s 54 points. Which is on the verge of Europa . Surely you have to give him credit.
My overarching thought is…bad day. It happens.
But, isn’t there anyone who can talk to Podence? The flipping and writhing is embarrassing.
Both the performance and result against Brighton was unacceptable.
Individual performances not good enough.
However, it’s happened. We can’t change it. What we can do is move on. Focus on the next game.
Some perspective.
This season alone :-
Newcastle 6 Spurs 1
Liverpool 6 Leeds 1
Palace 5 Leeds 1
Newcastle 5 West Ham 1
Liverpool 7 Man Utd 0
Arsenal 5 Forest 0
Newcastle 5 Brentford 1
Man City 6 Man Utd 3
Spurs 6 Leicester 2
Brighton 5 Leicester 2
Brentford 5 Leeds 2
Man City 6 Forest 0
Liverpool 9 Bournemouth 0
We are not alone in getting spanked.
It happens.
It what we do in response that matters.
UTW
Mystified embarrassed appalled and yet relieved
It should have been 10-0
Brighton are a really good side
But so were Saints when they played at Arsenal
Basic competence isn’t sufficient to thrive in PL and we didn’t even have that today
I get the calls for a mass exodus but I don’t think that 10 out and 8 in is a very sensible approach either …
Watched the Palace game earlier … their players are quick strong and skillful… and would have killed us today … but so
Would Hartlepool I suspect
That bloody darkness is back
I’ll
Be predicting 0-3 for our last 4 games
Roll on the end of Sunday May 28
Serious
Work
To
Do
JLo my son
Yes, this was The Worst performance by Wolves for a long time. But you know what ? … Shit Happens !! All teams have a game like that sometime or another. Liverpool shipping in 7 goals not eons ago. And the mercurial Brighton (who gave us a proper runaround), lost against Notts Forest, only last week. So yes, it was a horrific display by our team. But us fans need to balance things out. There’s always NEXT WEEK 🙂
Let’s face it, if all games went according to form, it takes out all of the excitement of the game. Mind you, it would make predictions a lot bloody easier then they are at the moment !!!
Sorry, that wasManutd shipping in7 (against) Liverpool. You see, I forgot that already !!
Thanks Rast’
Wr need to look at the season as a whole.
It really was a total cocktail yesterday but what the Boss has done to turn around our season is totally remarkable at the very least.
What so many of the posts above miss is that Brighton were not only bloody brilliant, but almost everything they tried succeeded.
Following the Palace match, some on here were claiming we had a fantastic defence. The only that’s changed since Tuesday is the opposition.
Brighton played like this in the FA Cup semi final and didn’t score at all because nothing came off for them.
For now, Brighton are just a better team than us, 3 years in the making. We’re very much work in progress after the setbacks of the last couple of years.
We’re not mathematically safe but Everton, Forest, Leicester and Leeds need to remain (pretty much) undeafeated for the rest of the season to go above us. One of them might just about manage it, but three of them?
Since Christmas, the whole point of our season has been survival, so Lopetgui is doing his job.
We’ve already seen that Fosun and Jeff Shi are willing to splash the cash. They found the money to avoid relegation, now they’ll spend to succeed, so let’s stop slagging them off, eh?
Top, balanced comments to my mind. They are a good team and the ball fell for them well on the day and their finishing likewise. Our proliferation of sloppy and silly mistakes on the day helped to produce the perfect storm.
Hopefully this will serve as a big kick up the jacksy…
I often don’t bother reading the blog after a crap performance cause the copious amount of bile spewing forth just makes me more depressed.
But I made an exception this morning and, I must admit, I’m pleasantly surprised by the balance shown in the contributions.
What a good bunch you are.
I guess folks are a bit more pragmatic now we’re realistically safe Wolfstroker.
Two major talking points for me.
I was shocked when Pep got rid of Joe Hart when he said he was looking for improved distribution despite the fact that Hart was a very good shot stopper. He was proved entirely right – can the same now be said about Sa?
Most importantly though if I were JL I would be sitting down with Nunes on Monday morning and ask him to explain how he managed to create more chances for Brighton in one game than he’s managed to create in the entire season for the team that pays his wages!
Well despite it being an absolute horror show yesterday, one plus point from today is that one team, Southampton, definitely can’t catch us. Let’s hope we can find another two quickly!
Yes. Saints can’t do us. If Everton lose to Leicester tomorrow they could only get to 40 and one of those games includes us. Leeds next 2 games Man City away. Newcastle home. Forest are awful away from home. They have 2 home games left . If I was to suggest any 3 for relegation I would go Southampton Everton and either Leeds/Forest. And the safety line after todays games is still 34 points.
Watched MOTD this morning and it looked even worse than I feared. I thought it would be hard to pick a Worst Man of the Match (WMOM) with Sa, Semedo and Nunes the main contenders but on the footage shown Nunes won it hands down – the guy really isn’t interested and just wants to move on. And of course Collins had to put his late mark on the proceedings with his usual cameo gaffe.
Fortunately with all the carnage going on below us it looks as if as CoD’s projection of around 35 for safety looks sound, but I really hope there’s some serious head scratching and soul searching going on in WV1 and Shanghai as to where we go from here.
And thank you god for delivering Julen Lopetegui to us 6 years late but at exactly the moment we needed him most.
I’ve not been able to watch MOTD yet, will try in the morning.
The bottom teams performances today reflect exactly why they are at the bottom – tankings all round.
Julen’s appointment was indeed very timely but those Nuno years were special and something I will always treasure. As ever, it ends in tears, such is life.
Woodend, couldn’t agree agree more. In well over 60 years as a Wolf Nuno is one of the most iconic personalities who have been associated with our great club. Who knows we may one day see his return because they were very special times and like you I treasure them along with those under Bill McGarry and John Barnwell.
Totally agree PJB. Nuno is an absolute icon for WWFC. The bloke is a legend. And inevitably one day he will be back at Molineux and he will be afforded a massive reception.I was one who argued tooth and nail for his continued stewardship at the WWFC helm. I don’t think he should have parted ways with us. Why he did is down to him and Jeff to explain. But there we go. I have kept the back page of the Express and Star from when he said farewell to the South Bank and there are tears in his eyes. A true Wolves legend.
Don’t usually comment when I don’t see the game. But what a shock and disappointment seeing that score.
A striker for me, we need two, because it seems we hold little or no threat and the ball keeps coming back to defend.
That result has done Lopetegui’s reputation harm. But he’s got us to more or less safety so he’s kind of already worked a miracle.
It’s how the team respond now for the rest of the season. Really don’t want to see us limp over the line. That never augurs well for the new season. But without a formidable couple of strikers it’s going to need more than a bit of a miracle to keep us up next season and for the fans to actually watch some good entertaining committed football from the Wolves.
Onwards to the team we love to hate. Hopefully our team have a change of mindset, and as one comment said above, Nunes can create some chances for his own side on Saturday!
Doe worry son. We wi?l give the Villa a good thrashing.
It looks to me that the majority of us would like a clear out but should we be looking to the Iberian peninsula or good old Blighty for the replacements
I for one would like to see a bigger contingent of Brits involved. The last 3 seasons we have seen an incoming of talented footballers to our club that get pushed off the ball far too easily and end up faking injury writhing over the ground requiring no real attention. Someone should inform them that referees watch the matches on tv the same as the fans and they probably have little black books to make a note of the culprits for when they perform in front of them
I am convinced there are lots of home talent waiting for their opportunities to show what they can do given the chance
What’s important, I feel, is the quality and characteristics of the player, not what his first language happens to be.
I suspect, R. Williams, that many will agree with you.
In my view I think about eleven players will leave at the end of the season.
In regard to Wolfstroker’s comment on a player’s first language , I can see nothing in R Williams’ observation to suggest that language should be a criterion for joining Wolves FC.
Actually, I am often impressed with the competence of foreign players’ spoken
in TV interviews.
R. Williams, Kendal.
With you all the way – too many wimps, journeymen and second raters on a career stint here while they are paid millions for serial mediocrity, No need to name names, complete change of philosophy needed for incoming transfers where players are brought in ( as in Jan.) for their talents rather than their agency connections.
PJB. Well said.
Let us hope that the end of season outs and ins are quickly expedited and Lopetegui is supported in bringing in new players who will help to make up a balanced squad.
What is not needed is an a la Levy approach with long drawn out negotiations up to the last minute.
Football squads are transient . Temporary and never permanent.
I have enjoyed watching several superb stars who have set Molineux alight in recent seasons and no doubt we all wish them well, as long as they do not return playing for another club. There are others , some have come and gone, others have remained. I will not be upset
when and if they leave.
The coach by now knows what he has to work with and of course will know what he will need for a successful new season.
Sorry. I thought I read something about bringing in more British players instead of our Iberian cousins, cause we’re not so prone to fakery.
I can think of several who would severely test that theory.
Leave Sterling alone. His team is getting thrashed yet again.
Makes me laugh how the Leeds keeper was like Gordon Banks against us and yet he was a useless bag of excrement today!
I’m still wandering around muttering, ” 6-0,“ to myself with expletives before and after…
There have been a few of these results this season, even against teams up near the top of the league. Doesn’t make it any better though.
I’m hoping for a reaction and a well selected team on Saturday.
I think… Julen is trying to see who to retain and let go in giving so many lads match time; at least I hope that’s the reason for so many changes.
If so, he must be getting a good idea as to who needs replacing and which areas need much more effectiveness next term.
I just hope we can get that one more win to leave us firmly safe.
It’ll probably come against one of the better teams, as is our way. COYW!
More likely that the teams below us will lose a game or two.
I’ve been hiding away for a couple of days so, just asking folks, can I come out from behind the sofa yet?
My own take on Leics and Everton drawing tonight was it was good for us .. neither getting 3 points nearer to us …
Could still do with one more win to sleep easier ..
After tonight the safety line is stilll 34 points !! I know it is excruciating. But each game goes by it gets clearer. At least Southampton can’t catch us. Two more to go !!
7 pts clear with 4 to go ,,,,,trouble is I still remember 2002 when we were 11 pts clear with 8 to go between us and the chasing pack and were caught by a bunch of Tesco bags and miss out on automatic promotion ,,surely it’s not going to happen again
in the opposite direction ,after Brighton it’s hard to see us winning again in these last 4 games
Come on Joloppy fired them up in training this week and get this extra win to make sure we’re safe ,,until 3 teams can’t mathematically catch us ,I won’t relax, we know from past experience that nothing about wolves is straight forward.
I need a good night sleep,, but looks like we have to wait till next weekend (if results go our way) before that happens
Southampton cannot catch us.
Leeds next two game are Citeh and Newcastle.
Everton next two games are Brighton and Citeh.
So whatever Wolves do we will be mathematically safe in two games time.
As one of life’s pessimists I can’t relax until the maths says we’re safe, but recognise that it will take a pretty astonishing set of results to send us down.
We have four very tricky games left, even a draw against Villa would calm my nerves a little.
And rumours this morning that Leeds are sacking their manager and appointing Big Sam!
Post World Cup Mini League
1 Wolves P19 27pts (-5gd)
2 Bournemth P19 23pts (-14gd)
3 Crystal P P19 21pts (-7gd)
4 West H P18 20pts (-3gd)
5 Forest P19 17pts (-13gd)
6 Everton P18 15pts (-16gd)
7 Leeds P20 15pts (-20gd)
8 Leicester P19 13pts (-13gd)
9 Southampton P19 12pts (-18gd)
Good luck to Sam, he will need it playing Citeh, Newcastle, Spurms and Wham.
Don’t forget he’s a wolf and who do we all hate?
With Robbie Keane as Sam’s no 2.
Split loyalties.
Big Sam and Robbie against the fact that it is Leeds.
