Not so much a case of being on the beach since April, but more a reminder that our castle was made of sand.
It would melt into the sea, eventually.
Our team (plus one or two other capable replacements) was a cavalry that stormed some of the Premier League’s most feared fortresses in recent times, conquering territories across Europe, but the likes of Saiss, Dendoncker and even Braveheart Raul became weary by the end.

For all the Bruno-bashing of late for our latter-season relegation form, it was a chronic lack of reinforcements that was the ultimate reason for a no mans’ land feel to the end of the season. It had nothing to do with the players swapping Pumas for plimsolls, but just a matter of running on empty to eventually stand still. To see so many of our mid-season heroes struggling by the end was a stain on Fosun’s copybook and the players deserved better.
This blog will waste no more time cogitating over the past, other than to say that the manager was shunned in his windows of need and our wretched form was a direct consequence of presumptuous thumb-twiddling as if we could ever keep up our Old Trafford levels for 38 games.
A reminder that Bruno said the following in August 2021:
“I think we need three or four guys (more players) in different positions. I don’t say now the positions. Top players to help us to be competitive, because, see the good example is what happened with Raul last year.
“If you miss Raul, OK we had Fabio who did very well, but we need every time to put all the positions in the competitive (environment). I think we have a good squad, we can improve it, we have one month to work on that and two weeks to work on the pitch to be competitive. That’s the plan.
“They (the club) already know what I want, the profiles.”
A lack of support ever since (contriving to actually weaken the squad in January with *that* braindead Traore decision to strip the side of our one point of attacking difference) has married with some deflating Ask Wolves Q&As to paint a much more pragmatic picture than the dream we brought into back in 2019. That and an impending sale of Ruben Neves to underline the fact that the ‘project’ no longer exists.
Admittedly, it’s a more sobering summer because we got a glimpse of what could have been, and the loss of our wonderkid from Porto will feel as symbolic as will feel sad, with our dreams dissipating for free. Better to have loved and lost and all that, though?
Despite some natives being restless and no evidence to suggest we’ll be as proactive as Bruno has been imploring us to be, I still don’t feel that the future need be too depressing, not if the money yielded from Neves goes straight back into reinforcements.
Whilst hardly an observation to absolve Jeff Shi of full accountability, I remember the Paskins and Peacocks like they were yesterday, so visions of Podence and Palhinha in a Wolves shirt aren’t so bad, are they? And speaking of the latter, would his signing not be a statement of sorts? That we’re not going to go through the motions without a much needed facelift? Irrespective of Jeff’s ill-advised 2019 comments about challenging for European now sound today, I always felt that a Premier League position with a bit to spare was good enough for me.
If we invest in another four or five players of similar quality, then I see no reason why we can’t remain competitive, and if skincare deals and EA Sport signings are rubber stamped in-between, then why not welcome them as we look to squeeze as much dosh as we can from other revenue streams? That’s not a sign of Fosun downing tools, but quite the opposite in a more prudent project, no-matter how unpalatable it is for some.
In response to Jeff’s Q&A and in an attempt to quell concerns amongst the brethren, I have devised a 5-point plan of my own to guarantee more happiness ahead in a new-look project of my own, which aims to infuse our souls with some excitement as we wait to see what actually happens.
1. Sign Palhinha (and don’t stop there)
An early statement of intent is vital, precisely because we haven’t had one in 2yrs or more. With rivals already spending big and paper talk galore about who we’re about to lose, let’s get this deal over the line to send a signal that we won’t be around to make up the numbers next season.

2. Sign a minimum of five additional players
If Bruno wanted up to four in August 2021 only to lose Adama in January and then release Ruddy, Marcal and Saiss, five incomings is the absolute bare minimum. Another combative midfielder is a MUST alongside Palhinha to give us more game changing moments from such areas. (Moutinho and Neves were both our biggest strength and weakness at times last season and as such, we need reinvigoration). A centre forward is also desperately required, featuring one of the following: The ability to play on the shoulder in behind or a brute who can hold the ball up to bring others into play. Preferably both! Andrea Belotti would fit the bill perfectly for the latter role. And then, if Yerson and Toti are still not deemed to be at the levels required defensively, an oven-ready centre-half to finally allow us to play a back four is also an obvious requirement.
3. Keep Adama and MGW
You don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone and it feels that way with both of the above. Adama’s exit reminded us of our inability to play up the pitch or even transition from defence to attack in the first place. If he is still hellbent on leaving then let him, but only after one last season with us. He can then walk away with our blessing in a manner similar to Kenny Miller to Celtic when Jez Moxey showed rare benevolence to do likewise in the hope of salvaging a play-off place back in the day. Traore is our one insurance policy against relegation, purely because he can yield 15 points on his own through moments of magic, irrespective of what does or doesn’t happen in-between. Without any evidence to suggest we will embark on a summer shopping spree, such an insurance is worth its weight in old gold. Player husbandry is needed here, as of now.

The same goes for MGW, who clearly dazzled for Sheffield United. When an entire fan base is universally smitten with a player, then you know they can’t be wrong. Again, he’s our asset so why would we give him away at the very moment that 15yrs of careful development bears fruit? ‘Golden Tit’ springs to mind. He is ours, he’s a point of difference that we don’t currently have and someone somewhere needs to earn their corn by reassuring him that he’s integral. Over to you Jeff?
4. Loan out Fabio Silva
It’s not that I don’t have time for him, and there have been signs of improvement, but hasn’t Gibbs-White’s loan proved the value of the loan system in the first place? It’s hardly Silva’s fault, but the £35m millstone around his neck is a really unfortunate juxta-position when we’re now in an era of austerity. What’s more, he’s not what we need in the here and now. What’s needed in the here and now is a box-fresh striker ready to hit the net from the get-go. Say what you like about Fabio (and call me a bald da), but he doesn’t fit that category. Let him roam at his own speed like MGW did and let him come back invigorated. He is yet young and another season flitting in and out won’t do anyone any good, least of all him.
5. Trust in Jorge
Let’s not throw the baby out with bathwater over the summer and let’s remember who got the likes of Neves through the door in the first place. I wholeheartedly advocate a scouring of non-Mendes talent, as to be solely dependent on the super-agent is folly. But let’s not consign the relationship to the dustbin because he’s a self-serving tycoon who is using us like he does the rest of his cartel. Getting relegated is inconceivable and Jorge Mendes is another insurance policy that we won’t. Risk / reward will always exist, but isn’t that the case with any signing that’s ever been made?

Granted, he’s the kingmaker that will probably reduce point 3 to rubble, but if we’re aligning ourselves more with Barcelona and the like, it can only benefit us, as a club of that stature don’t generally deal in duds. What’s more, do we really trust Scott Sellars to do anything well, other to deny he’s ever made blatant mistakes?
So there you are. A five point plan to bring merriment to add foundations to our castle, which cannot be built on sand this summer.
You are totally clueless…you’d rather we kept Adama on the off chance he does something magical during the season, and then we let him go for free because he won’t sign a new contract.
You don’t seem to understand the Fosun business model, be self sustainable by selling players, especially ones like Adama who manage to produce maybe 5 bits of skill during the season but acts like he deserves to be the highest paid player in the world.
Five bits of skill in the season, my arse. His problem is generally when the opposition have got the ball, not when he has it. Your first four words are very apt.
To call Ben totally clueless is a VERY silly thing to say.
Disagree if you like, but it’s his opinion and should be respected as such.
NB. I haven’t clicked on the dislike button, I’ve just given my opinion.
I have!!
Clicked on , I mean.
In fact, I’m having so much fun clicking, now that footie has gone bye byes for a while, that I click buttons here, I click them there, and when I’m half sober, I click them every f…..g where!!
Why haven’t we signed anyone yet?
Why is Neves still with us?
Is Bruno still manager?
Why has the stadium rebuild not started?
Whats going on?
We’re doomed Capttin Man Rinn, we’re dooooomed!!
Aaaiiiieeeee!
You shall not pass!!
( Mo Salah’s mantra )
Got too many clocks on me fingers today, messes with my few remaining brain cells.
Texas love to y’all
Gobbledygook!
– Yes, we’re linked with a lot of players – yet, few end up at Molineux. The main reason for that is in my opinion the “sensible salary budget” approach. Other clubs comes in and hijacks our potential deals with better offers: offering the players better personal terms. Sensible but boring :=)))
INCOMING!!!!
OOooh. I got grief big style from our Ben when I said nothing as bad as calling him Clueless. I pity you.
Wow ben thanks for that .
when you’ve been on the piss all afternoon and need a sanctuary i come to the blog for some sanity or in some cases insanity thanks for your comments i will give it all some sober thought .
p.s total thanks for getting rid of liverfool 3 wolves 1
i look forward to your replies
Very sensible strategy Ben but I fear it will not happen .
Since Palhinha is supposed to be a replacement for Neves Fosun will surely not buy him until Neves is sold .That is not likely to be soon .
They will be desperate to get money for Adama after their stupidity in January so he will not stay to get nothing for him next summer .I suspect MGW will only not be sold if he signs a new deal .After his poor treatment by the club I hope he will but fear he may not .
Fosun’s ambition is to keep the club in the PL it seems for the next few years rather than anything more ambitious .For those who think this is enough I am confident they will invest enough to manage that .
My own hope is to see a team which a lot more entertaining to watch than the last two seasons .The terrible goal record must improve significantly if we are to watch with some joy which to me is the purpose of the game .
Great summary Ben. What we`re now seeing is more of the same. Endless inside tips as to whom we are about to sign and when. Then nothing. But why should anyone be surprised?
The likely reality is that we`ll see little real world market action until right at the end of the window, and then the completely useless Sellars will announce the introduction of a few modest have beens, coupled with yet more of the ‘ones for tomorrow’.
Since we`ve nothing to get excited about, best we all switch off and enjoy the summer. Time enough to consider a relegation battle come August
First up. Let us pay tribute to Fosun. They pumped the dosh in. Got us some serious players. Got us out of the second division . Appointed a manager to see to it. Then we saw a Wolves side seriously competitive in the top flight. We has some great times which we seriously thought we would never see. Europe. Top 10 prem. FA cup semi. So now we demand Fosun make a statement. Fosun make a statement. It’s not good enough. The doom mongers pick holes in it. Damned if you do . Damned if you don’t. Wolves in division 2 is no use to Fosun. I expect to see a full scale revamp of the squad this summer. It is required. The main players in the club have said so. With this in mind we can expect players moved on. And players moved in. The key for Fosun is ensuring any players bought in are of a high standard and can move us forward. I am thankful to Fosun for what they have done for us so far. I trust in them to make the right moves going forward. And finally apologies for my childish contributions at the end of the previous thread. Wolves ay we.
They invested £30 million and turned it into an asset of over £300 million in 5 years; don’t let’s be too grateful.
Why after decades in the lower leagues would you not at least acknowledge the fact Fosun have made us in to a solid Premier league club. Capable of going to places like Spurs Man Utd ans Chelsea and getting results. Be careful what you wish for.
I have done so many times in these columns but at the moment we’re seriously in reverse gear. Crisis is on the horizon (see below).
Nonsense
Something many have tried and have mostly failed to do.
In total agreement Cheesy.
I mostly agree with Ben too (which I hope doesn’t confirm his cluelessness)
The only point I would disagree on is that we HAVE been competing for European places. We eventually fell short which is why we’re all a bit deflated but for the greater part of the season we were most certainly competing.
The idea of keeping Traore for one final season isn’t so daft either. Given we might well have maintained eighth position with him in the squad, should he be able to push us up a couple of positions in the table next season his going for free will be more or less covered by the extra prize money.
We most definitely need a more exciting brand of football to watch whoever is in the team but Traore does get bums off seats.
Point 3
We know what we have got with Traore and MGW.
Next to nothing as a team player with Traore. No goals and No assists. And somebody who does not what to be at the club so why would we keep him?
As for MGW he has been tried by several managers and all of them wanted him loaned out.
Great for England a long time ago and a good championship player.
I fear if we were going to try him again at this level we would have to give him a new (improved) contract and I’m sure we would see a similar level of ‘almost but not quite good enough’ from him.
My vote would be take the money and use it on better team players !
I thought Ben’s article looked quite promising until it drifted off into fairyland.
Let’s get this straight.
Neves is leaving and we’ll probably receive about £50 million. Good luck Ruben we’ll always remember you.
Traore will leave at a cut price.
MGW seems to bee in the shop window.
We have already offloaded Ruddy, Saiss and Marcal.
Moutinho’s future is in serious question.
So we need at least 6 serious signings to even stand still in numbers with a squad which was too small to start with.
All in all Jeff is going to have to spend well over £100 million just to tread water.
Can’t see it happening and it makes the outlay I have just made to renew my season ticket look very poor value at the moment.
Prove me wrong Jeff and Scottie.
You seriously underestimate the players we already have. Lets face it. Until the fade out at the end some folks were saying ‘under the radar’ top 4 finish. We won’t be in a relegation scrap next season. What are the odds of anyone breaking in to the ‘big six’ next season. West Ham ? Leicester? Cloud cuckoo land. We are what we are. Mid table. Possibly pushing top six. May be looking over our shoulders towards the bottom six. Not sure what you expect really? We are a club that has been seriously mis managed in the past and we have the scars to prove it. Fosun are providing a realistic vision to endure we don’t go down that road again.
That vision seems to be very fluid.
2017 – “regular participation in the ECL within 10 years”.
As for the payers we have I just hope we have some seriously talented youngsters who can play in front of the back 4/5.
A realistic appraisal of our situation Mr Cheezer.
I wholeheartedly agree.
Please tell me where I can get some of the stuff you have been smoking or drinking.
I love the way you put down irrefutable rumors, as tho they are hard on, deffo facts.
Say what you are trying to say, you Think this that and the other will happen, therefore it must be correct.
Whether I shall gloat if you are proved wrong, remains to be seen, but please don’t come on here spouting bollocks, and mere speculation.
It makes you look no better than the media hacks.
Or perhaps you are one?
And another thing.
Stop putting one of my best mates down, he’s a better man than you’ll ever be.
And yes, I am a disliker button pusher, and I make a point of disliking whatever tosh you splurge over this blog, most times before I’ve read it.
Clive, I enjoy reading your regular blogs, and largely agree with your standpoints. But this time I think you`re way over the top.
The purpose of our site is to exchange views and opinions. None of us can be right all the time, and this is what makes it so interesting.
But it`s surely wrong when differing opinions develop into personal attacks. You may not agree with the conclusions of PJB, but he`s just as big supporter of our Club as are you, and that he takes time to outline his ideas should be welcomed, not despised.
Frankly if this site is to develop, into a mud slinging facility, then I, for one, will cease contributing.
It seems from your photo that you are a big man. Time perhaps for you to step up and issue an apology
Many already have left Mike.
eg. Where is PaulAD67 who had the temerity to cross multiple titled
Clive?
This happens every closed season when boredom sets in. Last summer got quite vitriolic.
At least it’s only a short one this year.
Apologies to all posters for this tit for tat nonsense but I don’t feel this unprovoked, inaccurate and personalised attack can be allowed to go unanswered or unchallenged.
So, Clive of the multiple titles and email addresses.
I don’t drink during the day, but will probably have a glass or two of white Rioja later (not that it has anything to do with you).
I never claim to have irrefutable facts – it’s a blog not a business report.
I don’t really care whether you gloat or not when I’m wrong but it does indicate a rather unpleasant character trait if you take it so seriously as to regularly throw insults at those who don’t worship every word you so spuriously pen.
Accusing anyone of spouting bollocks is rich coming from you.
I haven’t put down anyone on this blog including your so called mates.
And downvoting without reading posts is abusing the spirit of this blog and downright childish.
Football is supposed to be for fun not behaving like a wannabe member of the House of Commons.
PJB. Me and you often have a debate about stuff on here and I certainly don’t hold any grudges against you or anyone else on here. My personal view is that it is good to have a cross section of opinion. I don’t always agree and can be quite blunt. But it is nothing personal. It is just the way it is. So no issues from me.
Fully agree COD, no need for it to become personal. But when it does I believe in responding in kind – hence the above response to Cl(o)ive of wherever he resides today.
You swear too much, manipulative and aggresive
Renewing my season ticket at £34.00 approx per match seems good value to me.
Good value indeed.
The worst offenders are HM government, I assume you will reach 65 in August so you will have to wait another year for your pension and you will miss out on the £300 OAP heating allowance from the Chancellor as only applies at the state pension age of 66.
What follows is my take on things:
2022/2023 FIXTURES OUT ON 16TH JUNE GUYS.
What more do we need?
Entertainment and goals
40+ points would also be very useful.
And I have no doubt that we will achieve that easily.
Thanks Ben
Well thought out and written yet again.
This could go two ways…
Sign a couple of half decent players and just stay up or no one wants to sign due to a lack of ambition and we may just get sucked into a relegation dogfight.
Its a strange place to be….just get a feeling of a lack of ambition.
Neves should want to stay after seeing some new exciting players wanting to sign but I feel its a more dour expectation…
Prove me wrong Fosun
Does anyone really know that Adama doesn’t want to play for Wolves?
Perhaps he was just desperate to get back to Barca to give it a try.
Perhaps he would prefer to stay here than be sold off to Spuds and turned into a wing-back.
I’d just love it if it were so.
Ask PJB
He thinks he knows everything that’s going on.
Uncalled for smartarse remark with a strong flavour of pot calling kettle black.
Traore is a professional. He’ll play for whichever business can offer him a combination of fulfilling personal ambition and paying the most. Much how the rest of us work.
I don’t get the clamour for Pauhino. Kept an eye on him this season and haven’t been impressed. A lesser Dendonker comes to mind whenever I’ve seen him. Being Portuguese and 6 ‘ 5” tall has seduced a few. But at 26 and still playing in the Portuguese league; guess this says something. If he comes to us then I hope that whenever I’ve seen him, he’s had an uncharacteristic stinker. But it can’t be so coincidental and I trust my eyes. To me, he just looks a slower, even less mobile version of Donk. In this case I would keep Donk and go all out for a Sanchez-type player; mobile, fast, creative tenacious. Someone with a presence. . Palhino is none of these. More than a few would be disappointed if he came to us. But once again, in that case, hope I’m wrong about him.
At last, someone else who has been watching him closely. Ever since the Paulinha rumours started ( well over a year ago by the way) I’ve watched many of his games and he reminds me very much of Dendoncker too. He’s very ponderous and I have my doubts about his ability to move the ball quickly and effectively against a high pressing opponent of which there are many in the Premier league.
Agreed that Traore can have a brain fart when he has the ball, but he does draw the defense towards him, which ain’t necessarily a bad thing (just ask Raul a couple of years ago.)
If he comes back as a one-year player perhaps he’ll go lights out and play for a future contract. Yes, we’ll get nothing for him in return, but if we’re smart with some signings this summer perhaps it won’t be as impactful as some think. And to his detractors I say: “So if he’s such a waste of space what kind of money would you expect in return for him?”
Good post.
Not a big fan of Traore at all, but what do we have to lose. He can on the odd occasion be a match winner (eg. twice v Man. City in 2019) and unless someone buys him this summer he’s a write off. The only caveats are what might he do to the dressing room and if he comes back where does the heir apparent Chiquinho fit into next season’s plans.
The big hope has to be that we might squeeze our original outlay out of Spurs or Leeds this close season.
ps. Good to note there is one intelligent contributor to this forum in Texas.
Once again, I thank you!
He said from ‘Bama. Thought you were in Huntsville where prisoners escape and folks keep their doors locked. Tough to leave Texas behind ain’t it?
Roll Tide
Apologies! My error! You’re in Hunstville TX not Alabama I take it. Still gotta keep those doors locked but at least you’re still with us.
Hook ’em Horns
Everybody in America keeps their doors locked yo!
Fosun have lost interest in the football side of the club.
It’s all about computer games and records
The local fans as Jeff has called us have had a big price rise in season ticket yet have to put up with poor seating and facilities in the Steve Bull stand especially.
They are being ignored and the thousands who have been waiting years for the chance to get a season ticket in favour of arm chair fans around the world.
Fosun can try and separate the town’s people from the club but they never will
We are a vehicle for Fosun nothing else I dare say they have a interest in keeping Wolves in the Premier League but those reasons have nothing to do with the real fans of the club we are an after thought.
The local fans are the lifeblood of the club. Fosun are the owners and custodians. However I don’t for one moment think they are trying to separate the local fans from the club; that would be bizarre. Why would they? However they seem to be oblivious to the urgent necessity of doing something about the SB stand. The fans around the world are important for the revenue stream they bring into the club’s coffers. It is of vital and fundamental interest to Fosun to keep Wolves in the PL, and for this they need every fan possible, both at home and abroad.
DWW. Lots of words of wisdom there and agree with every one.
But, and it’s a BIG BUT, the last 2/3 years or so seem to indicate they don’t have a clue what to do about players either. And I’m not sure that Jeff Shi and the very low key Sellars are the men to fix that.
Oh for a time machine to recapture the trio of Dalrymple, Thelwell and Nuno (plus Jorge Mendes onside).
I defy anyone to say it didn’t work.
Oh yes. Thelwell. Who everyone hated. And said was useless. Like now all of a sudden MGW is the new saviour when a year ago everyone said he was shite ! Dear oh dear oh dear !
I’ll take that on the chin – never saw what Thelwell did but hindsight is a wonderful quality. I didn’t hate him though and his CV reads a lot better than “Scottie” and always did.
Meanwhile MGW??????
What do you think?
MGW bit of an enigma. I suppose he deserves another chance after he had a good loan at Sheff U last seadon. Think he had a couple of good games for us right at the end of the Nuno era. Yeah. Give him another go.
Congratulations to Hwang who scored a stunner today for South Korea v Chile. The bloke started really well for us. Stop slagging him off . Moan about Hwang. Silva. The stadium. Legacy fans. Problem is the 2018 glory hunters only ever knew ‘glory’ for 2 or 3 years and as soon as the going gets tough they get going. Hopefully.
Perhaps, given the total failure of all our forwards to score goals regularly, the fault lies not so much with them, but in the ability of our team to create enough chances.
Perhaps Mr Hwang will prove us all, including me, wrong. His goal against Chile was certainly a cracker.
You make a very valid point. Whilst our strikers haven’t exactly looked razor sharp the approach play from those behind can be painful and laborious. And how anyone can write off Silva with his cameos and limited starts is beyond belief. But reinforcements still badly needed plus a fit Neto.
Fabio Silva divides opinion here, but this season I fully expect that he will finally confirm his potential with goals. Just look at what Man U paid for Jadon Sancho, £73mil. Double! Did he really do much better than Silva last season?
I think Hwang has summat. Rough around the edges. Looks like he needs a bit of confidence. I just look at those 2 goals v Newcastle. Clearly something there. They were class goàls.
Great blog Ben thanks. I’m also firmly in the keep the Uber athletic Adama and super talented Morgan GW camp. Selling would be false economy IMO. The point of difference, I like that phrase of yours and very accurate in their case. It’s what we missed so badly at the end, only chiquino came close to exciting me. Neto may well have provided it given a few more games but he and hopefully DP too will be back to their best next season.
Put alongside the 5 exciting new signings, all of team Bruno’s design, there should be plenty of hope for the new season, accepting the likely exits.
On the day I begrudgingly coughed 1100 smackers for mine and ar kids ST’s thats the least we really deserve for all our hard earned cash.
I remember Chorley. And the batty Bhatti Bros. And training on the car park. And I know we’ll never go back there.
I’d be happy with mid table if the players were trying – but without replacements, any man and his dog can see how quickly it could change. Could we realistically challenge for top 4? I don’t think so. Europa? Yes, definitely. But look at the money and signings the Vile have made already, Newcastle will splash it now, and getting into that league position becomes even harder.
And yes, sometimes I think some of you speak absolute tosh at times. Which is okay, cos you might think I do as well. But we all want the best for our club, and whatever happens, who we do or don’t sign, I’ll remain on the waiting list, listen to WM on a Saturday, and still love the club and you lot as well.
To be fair I’d agree with your 5 points Ben, Traore on his day can be a game changer, we also need home grown players in the squad & MGW ticks that box & deserves a chance (IMO).
I agree with what people are saying about the SB stand needing work, I saw my 1st match there when it first opened so it’s showing it’s age now.
I’m reserving judgement until the end of the transfer window to see who stays & who goes. So far we’re being linked with everyone & anyone. But as that’s happened for the last 3 windows I’m not holding my breath!
I’m going with Astropay… scratching head…???
Welcome to our new shirt sponsors…, looks like another big brand scoop…
Just like .. the ‘Money Shop’…
I looked back over the decades … and could only find ‘GOODYEARS’ as a global brand company….
Maybe Doritos… nah…,
Superbug…. nah…
What do I know about branding and lucrative…
what do you know about branding ???? er lets try carling, Heineken, stella,
courvoisier, for starters ….. lol
Oooh .. yes… I forgot the Alcohol Sector mate …
Although the DOOG is the Brandy authoritarian… NZ wines is my forte…..
my alcohol compus mentis is
proportional to the company I keep ..
And in your case Dave and Sonia it’s spot on …
Like it … up thumbs…. Etc
ok Liebfraumilch, black tower and 1811 chateau de`yquem the last one would look daft on our shirt but when sonia and i win the lotto we will buy you a bottle my lord.
Bishops Finger beer logo would look even worse.
My NHS surgery has requested blood tests before they will renew my prescription for blood pressure medication. The form that I have to take to the hospital specifies several tests. Two in particular stand out like an embarrassing sore thumb: Liver Function and Drug Monitoring.
Bloody cheek!
At least we ay gor a central heating boiler on our like Smethwick Town…
Hers my response to the Brilliant Ben .. not by any stretch ‘Clueless’ post …
Shame on you John de Wolf…. It’s you that’s clueless.
Sign Paulinho… he looked god playing for Braga (against us).
Sell Traore to Everton..,
Sell MGW to Southampton for £40 million.
Loan out Silva to Port Vale .. league one is his level…
Keep Neves… and slip him a couple of million on the side.
Sell Moutinho (regrettably) as he’s getting gready …
Sign who ever wants to die for the shirt and the honour of playing for WWFC…
I’ve renewed our ST’s again for the millionth year on the trot…
Jeff Shi … give me some payback .
I’m not impressed so far …
Keep Sellars out of this … he’s about as useful as fart in a spacesuit…
nice hair though dont you think … very curly
Not so bad, Lord Twix, after 61, there were 21%
Got Ya…
Cheers Ben.
Some points to consider there. I’d like to see Pogba in Midfield, Gareth Bale and Jarrod Bowen left & right, Kai Havertz and that Hungarian No10, Szoboszlai
If I was Adama I’d make my own decisions on where I play footy, but sitting on a sunny bench at the Camp would suit me fine. Different strokes I guess.
Just being in Ye Olde Prem for another tumultuos season sounds good value to me.
Loan out Billy? Whatever…. he scarcely threatened and a promise is comfort to a fool.
MGW didn’t save the Blades and he won’t save the Wolves, but then who else is going to give him a game in the top flight?
I suggest, in the spirit of speculation and conjecture, that the mighty Wolves do a tour of China using our connections to kick off footy in China, surely the biggest untapped market of future footballing Ninjas, securing stadium rights and trawling the backstreets of Shanghai for the Chinese Neymar. At the same time securing freedom for Tibet and the restoration of the Dalai Lama, aswell as the Recognition of Urghyer Peoples rights.
Fuckit I’m moving to Rwanda.
Safe in the Knowledge that Kenny Hibbitt is gaining traction at the refs monitoring station. He retired a few skunks this year. Top job.
Doog, if you’re listening, The Dragons edged the UK, in a very entertaining game, sad someone had to put them out, and that sounds bad, cos they had the better of it, but the crowd + Bale was magic. 18 games unbeaten in Wales. Sounds good. Once every 64 years. Worldy Cup boyo. Sell the house and buy a ticket to Qatar, on the way to Rwanda, naturally.
1 lv & COYW
See you in Rwanda.
It’s the one place you can go where you can be sure the flights won’t be cancelled.
Wasn’t Boris Johnson born in New York, from French heritage? Is it too late to put him on a plane to Rwanda, in Booze Class cabin of course?
Well. What a week. First of all Hwang scores a belter for South Korea. Then Fabio gets a few for Portugal u21’s. Tonight Donk gets one for Belgium. And yet they can’t do naff all on the pitch for Wolves. I wonder what is going on ?
Jeff Shi told them not to score for us in case we qualified for Europe!
Bruno wasnt in charge of any of those teams !
My guess is that they are all improving as players. Bodes well for next season.
Apparently Wolves have an ‘agreement in principle ‘ to sign Joao Palhinha. It must be true. Just seen him in the chip shop down Gornal.
Is that the same ‘agreement in principle’ we had about three years ago? Well. as long as he keeps off the cheeseburgers and chips, it looks promising this time.
Yes, he was standing just behind Elvis and Messi.
So I’m sitting on my sunbed around the pool of the real marina hotel in olhao portugal beautiful hotel top class place and marvelling at the structure and design when i start thinking about the investment and commitment involved in building such a magnificent place and it dawned on me that the people behind this hotel and of course many other superb hotels dont actually know before they put the money up if they will ever get it back .
Yes they have done their homework thoroughly but they still dont actually know for certain .
I thought about the the way fosun have invested in wolves compared to these guys who build these things and it seems like fosun would have have built 20 rooms let them out then built another twenty when they had enough money and so on and so on never actually funding the whole job properly from the start and putting their balls on the line.
Yes i know they have put a few hundred million into wolves and i know we have a team who will be mid table on current investment for the rest of our lives and we should be grateful because we were getting beaten at chorley and all the rest but i still feel let down and thats because they came in all guns blazing but didnt bring any more ammo with them the head honchos ran away and said your on your own now boys.
Fosun have gone cold on us no doubt when they should have finished what they started.
We have a half built hotel which will never be finished unless someone a lot higher up than jeff shi has the cahoonies to put their hand into the deep fosun coffers and cough up what it REALLY takes to build a top side and that isnt a couple of hundred mill im afraid its nearer 500 -600 mill or maybe even more and thats just for the team not the ground.
Will, our hotel ever be finished with fosun in charge or will we remain half built but a nice little earner .
Call me ungrateful call me what you want but i do want wolverhampton wanderers to be a top 4 premier side playing in europe every year unfortunately we will never do that if we have to self finance and that is reallity jeff shi is talking total cobblers if he thinks he can get enough investment from outside sources to finance a football club to be at the top of the premier league it will never happen .
Jeff you have to build your hotel and FINISH it FIRST then they will come .
Back to the sunbed.
So, basically, you’re saying that Guo Guangchang (one of the richest men in the world) knows less about investing (and making) money than you?
I can see how you can afford a holiday in Portugal and are in a position to criticise.
No i never said that .
if you read it properly i said they havent finished what they started and they havent put the investment in to turn us into a top 4 club .
i dont doubt for a minute the fosun boss knows more about investment than me and also replying to cheesy below i dont doubt fosun want us to stay in the premier league to protect what they have already invested but it is a fact that to be a top 4 club with the stadium to match is going to take a hell of a lot more than fosun have put in up to now even a moron who hides behind a stupid name and doesnt read things properly should be able to see that.
“A moron who hides behind a stupid name”?
I didn’t realise “spikeyboy” was your real name.
I bow to your superior intellect.
Reminds me of Sir Jack. His investment got us promoted to the top flight, but that next season he gave Dave Jones no financial support …. what happened then is History!
Exactly mate. I don’t get all this Sir Jack hero worship. To be honest he was an eccentric old tax evader. No interest in paying towards schools NHS and other key public sector services in this country. And he was well known for his indifference to ‘foreign’ people. Leave it at that.
Spot on assessment. Came in 6 years ago having bought from Morgan for a song, wisely gave it a season to settle down, then did a brilliant job of investing enough to walk into the Premier League and stay there in the short term. I do actually wonder though whether all grand claims made re their 10 year plan etc. were based on real intent or contained more than a smidgeon of bullshit; certainly not much sign of those objectives over the last 2+ years.
And to those who say we should happy just to be sitting at the top table, look what Leicester City, arguably a smaller club with less potential than Wolves, have achieved in recent years. “The big 6” are not guaranteed their self proclaimed status and there is nothing wrong with us having the ambition to make a serious challenge.
Meanwhile Fosun have increased their original investment tenfold. And a repeat warning – relegation would blow your capital gain to pieces. Suggest serious onfield investment this summer is very much in your own interests not just those of the “local” supporter base without whom you won’t have a viable football club but about whom you are becoming increasingly dismissive. Your “softly softly” strategy will see more ambitious (read realistic) club owners pass us by in their droves.
Posted by another ungrateful old git.
Come on PJB. You say that as if it was all so obvious Wolves were gonna waltz in to the Premier league. I note now we need ‘proven’ players. When in 2018 we unearthed Jota. Neves. Cav. Etc. No one had ever heard of them. So now Fosun continue the same model and it is blah blah blah. Throw your dummy out of the pram because we didn’t sign some ‘big name’ has been who we all know. It is not the Fosun way. Don’t expect Milner from Liverpool or Maitland-Niles from Arsenal. Expect more Chiquino types and maybe one or two more with value players. And perhaps a couple of estsblished players who can improve us. As per what Jeff has said.
Where did I say we need to sign “big name” players? I just stated (the obvious) that we need to invest far more than we have in the last 2/3 years even before we sell anyone. We have the third oldest squad in the PL so we’re moving towards “past it”” territory.
And surely you can’t criticise anyone for wanting the club to seek improvement AND attempt to live up to it’s owners much heralded objectives.
No toys from pram and I wouldn’t even want Milner or Maitland-Niles; far better value to be had overseas.
Ok mate. No worries. Wolves Ay We .
Repeat my mantra again and again and again. Fosun will not want their investments (including Wolves) to suffer. The mood music at present seems to indicate things are going on. More this season than perhaps the previous couple. The ultimate judgement will come 2nd September when the windows shuts. An article in the Birmingham evening mail shows Jeff is regularly in touch with Chairman Guo. Who retains a healthy interest in Wolves. I have said loads of times Wolves are no use to Fosun in div 2 or div 3. I retsin confidence in them to do the right thing. Oh and Spikey enjoy your holiday. Wolves ay we !
Thanks cheesy i suppose ive got too much time on my hands and its too bloody hot .
I hope your right and come september we are all happy.
And. If it is all a load of bollocks by 3rd September and Fosun haven’t done the business I will gladly come on here and face the music.
Anyone at Molineux on Tuesday?
Can catch up pre match if you want.
I haven’t got a ticket tomorrow but happy to meet up pre-match. Clarendon?
Will let you know my ETA Dougie.
What wolves had to agree to
1.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/sport/football/53698778.amp
2. Think Fosun now lent wolves c£200m
Fosuns original plan to make Wolves a global superpower was dependent upon selling the club to millions of Chinese ‘fans’.
However, the west’s growing antagonism towards all things Chinese will, of course, work both ways and make a British football club a much harder sell back home.
If and when east/west relations improve, I figure Fosun will find the confidence to invest. Until then, I’m afraid we’ll have to take what we have and be happy.
And I am.
Harold Wilson used to say, ‘a week is a long time in politics…’
Well, six years is a bloody sight longer. The world has changed since Fosun took over Wolves. And even more so this year. The perception of China was already changing long before the Russians invaded Ukraine. An invasion of Taiwan by China would complete the process. Chinese oligarchs might be sanctioned by us! After all, Abramovich lost his Chelsea plaything because of politics. Even if China didn’t invade, the fear that they might at any time will not easily pass.
We might have to forget China as a source of capital and/or revenue stream. This is why I believe that Fosun’s plan for a stock market flotation means New York . Our aborted preseason tour of the USA was meant to raise our profile Stateside. Shame it didn’t happen, but that doesn’t change things. We have to look west, not east, for our future. If that means selling Wolves to Yanks, I’m all in. The Yanks already own a bit of us already.
Well I have thoroughly enjoyed what Fosun has given us. I started to really support the club in 1969 and whilst I have seen many good times along with many bad times, I have never seen us play at the level we have played under Fosun, and certainly never seen us qualify for European Competition. So, if it all goes tits up, I can honestly say thank you to Fosun for making the last few years a pleasure.
UEFA Cup Final 1972?
But I do agree Fosun have served us very well over the last 6 years and can also appreciate that there have been valid external factors causing them to scale down their original grandiose ambitions, hopefully only temporarily.
However, after the last 2 years of doing very little it’s essential that they up the ante again NOW if we aren’t to start to fall behind others in “the best of the rest” category and drop into the PL also rans zone or worse.
Thanks, I missed the 1972 one.
I agree, to continue to progress we must have Fosun continue their financial support. I wait in anticipation.
Brompton I think you may have also missed our forays into Europe in 73,74 and 80 as well? Although they were pretty brief.
I must admit to missing a lot it seems!
Don’t worry Ozzy Osbourne missed a lot of the 70s too apparently.
And whatever happens. Surely ir can’t be as bad as Gareth Bales fucking never ending man bun. If nothing else happens this season surely to God that fucking hairdo will fuck off .
Carefull what you wish for. He may trade it in for one like Grealish.
That Man Bun has been given the Keys to Wales and a place on the National Assembly. A symbol of the warrior spirit harking back to Owen Glyndwr.
Bun envy perhaps? is the Cheese barnet a couple of follicles short of a picnic? Or more general Cymrophobia ingrained from too many wet summer holidays in a mouldy caravan in Pwllheli.
Don’t be a sour puss, well not until Wales have scored 4 against the Saesnogs and dumped them out of the World Cup.
Bun Love.
Oh ….Sonia said i should have a bun on my head !
Or was it a gun to my head !
I can’t have a bun. I could attempt a Bill Bailey though!
I know; let’s bring on a centre back. That worked well then… Mind you, our players are tired. Apparently opposition sides never are after their seasons end.
England hopeless, spineless and leaderless.
Given where the game was played and what it would have done for the fans and the atmosphere, perhaps it might have been a good shout to start Conor.
A proven leader and certainly not hopeless or spineless.
The only player in a white shirt who was worthy of a cap tonight was Reece James.
Still, on a brighter note, Trent Bridge showed what can be done with a bat and some balls!
I’m glad Conor didn’t play, I wouldn’t want one of our own to have been tainted by that debacle.
And well done at Trent Bridge you could hardly imagine a greater contrast. Just shows what proper leadership can do after the Silverwood / Root era.
Southgate out!
Well said PJB. Ben Stokes wasn’t appointed captain to manage a draw from a potentially winning position. The contrast to Harry Kane could not be more stark. Southgate is too cerebral for my liking and we need leaders who know when to and can lift the team to achieve even when being outplayed. Hungary were very good last night and the goals were well taken. Kane should have started his post match with a recognition of being outclassed by a very well motivated side.
Yes agreed. I reckon at tea they just said we are basically 2 wickets away from losing so with the new positive mindset they gave Jonny Bairstow the green light to basically launch in to T20 mode and said lets just go for it. At one stage in the evening session we were going at 8 or 9 an over . In the final session on day 5 in a test match. It could be an absolute classic when Aussies arrive for the Ashes next summer!
Is it Molineux?
The home side rarely scores there in recent times.
In the words of Ronnie Lane:
“How come, how come
I ain’t superstitious, but these things I seen
How come, how come
I ain’t a superstitious fella, but it worries me”
What’s the fastest way out of Molineux?
Southgate.
PS I like the look of some of those Hungarian players. They obviously like playing at Molineux.
I said to the guy next to me last night, “this side play like Wolves at times, no desire to score” But …… Wolves are better than that.
Sometimes you wish you had not bothered getting a ticket and travelling 3 hours down. Apart from having a nice chat and a pint in the Clarenden with Dougie pre match, yesterday was one of those days.
Back home now and just deleted the recording of the match . Not going to watch that drivel again!
Take care bloggers.
Football sucks sometimes. Just glad it wasn’t Wolves this time.
They say Southgate doesn’t know his best eleven. He certainly knows his worst, as he started them last night!
Yep a shocking performance worthy of Wolves on the Beach v Brighton. I’d ask Southgate for my money back, travel expenses and a loss of belief adjustment. I havn’t seen him look that diplomatic since he missed that pen at the Euro’s. Even my daughter said he should have taken Philips off at half time, and she supports Chelsea. I blame the parents.
Bun Love.
Fixtures out?
Leeds; Fulham; Spurs; Newcastle; Bournemouth? I think we should be able to average 2pts a game (or better) from that run?
15 points in the bag……..!
Lord twix have you sent me a personal e mail ive recieved one from mike oldfield ?
Don’t reply to it. I got one too.
Someone has hacked his Lordship’s email account.
No mate .. I’ve sent a proper email .. actually from me …
Oh God!
Somebody has hacked his Wolves Blog account too!
Nobody reply!
Oh. I ignored it. Thought you would text me, so I did not even open it.
Mike,
This is what I got from you. Looked dodgy.
“hope you are good?
Actually I wanted to check in with you. Can I ask a quick assistance from you?
Kind regards
Mike”
Mike Oldfield gave me an email adress – tubularbolloks@hasbeen.com. I wrote to him asking him not to produce anymore mediocre prog rock wranglings but he hasn’t replied. Ignorant tosser.
1 lv.
I have a Mike Oldfield anecdote. Many years ago in London, my retail business was having a new shopfront installed. We were next door neighbour to the then very famous fashion designer, Bruce Oldfield. (Think Princess Diana dresses etc). Bruce came out of his shop one morning and walked off down the road. One of the shopfitters came running up to me, all excited, and said, that’s him, innit, innit. He couldn’t get a name out, so he said, tubular bells! I said, no, you’re thinking Mike Oldfield, that was Bruce Oldfield you just saw! Shopfitter, baffled, says, is that his bruvver then? I said, no, don’t think so, Bruce Oldfield was raised in Dr Barnardos Home, probably doesn’t know if he has a brother!
The funny thing is that Bruce Oldfield is mixed race but Mike Oldfield isn’t. Hard to confuse them I thought. Shows the power of word association.
The twat your thinking of wasn’t me .. no respec man..
Come on Rasta ..
1 lv, Milord.
When I think of tubular bells it’s those on Mikey Dread ‘s ‘Mental Slavery’. The original Mike Oldfield ‘Bells was mind bending.
BTW did someone change the topic header? This doesn’t look like the post I commented on.
Lick racism outta sport. Chase satan outta earth.
Looks like Fulham have beat us to the lad at Sporting.
What the fuck are Jeff and Scott doing about it…..fuck all.
Are we that skint that we cannot afford £17 million after nearly five years in the Premier League.
Absolute incompetence and embarrassing.
The usual army of pant wetters and twitter experts all over social media. Come on Jeff. Only 87 days of the transfer window left. Get your finger out.
I know mate, I hate fekin flappers!
Pant wetting don’t think so, it what I’ve come to expect from Jeff.
Regarding the Titanic they were oblivious to the on coming disaster ………just like some bloggers on here.
And when you are proven wrong will you let us know who you are?
I will Brompton……..will you have you got the minerals
Just saw that Ruben Neves has decided to give up football altogether.
He signed for the Villa.
In other news, it has been finally agreed that all the new seats at Villa Park have been wrongly installed.
They are facing the pitch.
And they bought the seats as a job lot from the Titanic.
Going down.
And they bought the seats as a job lot from the Titanic.
Going down.
More breaking news.
Houston has been selected as one of the host cities for the 2026 World Cup Finals.
You lot out there had better be super nice to me for four years, if you wish to be on my preferred visitor list.
However, after last night’s piss poor performance, England might not even reach the group stages of qualification, let alone make it to the finals!
Still, bring pork pies and Banks’s ,and yoom all welcome.
2026? Bring it on. My crystal ball says that Coady will be England captain, with Kilman and MGW in the squad. It’s been a long time since an England side had three Wolves players in midfield.
As Kilman and Coady are going to be at the back who are the other two midfielders?
Dickinson & Moriss bake extra large Melton Mowbray pork pies. Just pencilled in an order for 2026. As for Banks’s, bitter or mild?

I thought FFP was supposed to prevent Newcastle from splashing the cash. What is their revenue stream like? Do they have a lot of built-up reserve room due to Ashley not spending?
Matheus Nunes. I have it on good authority from next door neighbours cat’s auntie Sharon’s pet rabbit Nigel that he has heard from a peregrine falcon called Malcolm who lives in a field next to Compton training ground that a bus driver on the number 887 bus passing the ground had to stop for an emergency supply of petrol . Whilst on the way to pay for the petrol a rat called Elizabeth who knows super agent Jorge Mendes’s great auntie second removed from Paraguay accidentally tripped him up causing the driver to accidentally press his phone which inadvertently called Paraguay whereby the great auntie confirmed Nunes may be in talks with Wolves or maybe someone else. So confirmed.
So, Mathew’s Nunes is signing for Wolves tomorrow.
Well that is what I have read somewhere, I think!
Yes. Press conference 10am Tuesday. Hosted by the peregrine falcon. Jeff is off with covid.
Looks like Fulham are getting Palhinha.
Regardless – Ben. I think you hit some good points.
I differ slightly on the Fabio element. If we don’t bring in another striker, I think he should get significantly more time next year – and, (gulp), start ahead of Raul in most weeks. There were plenty of instances last year where he was the most lively player on the field. But. a striker without service is nothing (that’s where my feeling that Podence needs more time comes in).
With that said, sending him to a Championship or Primeira Liga club that plays our style – and him getting 20-25 goals – would work wonders for his confidence. He’s not even 20 yet.
Absolutely!!
Nobody could score for us last season so it seems a little churlish to say the least to blame a teenager for not doing so.
Irrespective of his price tag.
Bummed that the lads cancelled their USA summer tour….2026 World Cup a long way away so only glamorous game coming up I can watch is at San Francisco’s baseball stadium

Just look at the prices!! And the cheapest ones will hardly be able to see what’s happening
Its close to my imminent 70th birthday so maybe I’ll splurge anyway…there will be a full house for sure
Meantime ( ignoring the unseemly spats above) I thank Ben for a thoughtful blog starter.
I posted my top 10 priority list a while ago.
Here’s an updated and shorter version
1 Sort Neves Traore Moutinho soon!
2 Keep MGW
3 Buy a Portuguese midfielder.or two…whatever…..they are all good…our goal scoring will improve with more Podence-like trickery from midfield
4 Don’t overpay by going for players that Newcastle et al want….too much cash being splashed around…I think values will be much better next year
5 Get Neto Raul Podence Kilman Semedo fully fit…
6 Work on skills of Toti Mosquera Chiqinho Silva Ait-Nouri
Honestly fellow bloggers,,,,,this squad could be brilliant and lets face it we won’t be adding 5-6 players in next 6 weeks
I predict a 60 goal season ( 40 conceded) and 6th place
You saw it here first
Hasta pronto
Throwing the toys out the pram big style on social media. Whaaaa whaaa whaaa walsall are signing someone and we aren’t. Whaaaa whaaa whaaa. Fuckin hell. Fuck off down the Albion.
And i will still say that even if we sign fuck all
Is Fuck All Portuguese? If not I’m not so sure he will be on our list anyway.
no thats fucktifarno i think he plays for fray bentos
Best thing, Cheese, is not to look at such shite. I don’t so haven’t a clue what ‘they ‘ are saying, where they are saying it, or what exactly is upsetting you. Stick to the blog.
Solidarity to the RMT union. At least 90 Tory MP’s are creaming off £4/£5 million quid a year with their fingers in the pie for ‘consultancy’ work. And they result to type by talking the rest of us down by saying you can’t have a pay rise. Fuckin bullshit. The money is there. It just keeps going in to the rich elite pockets. Bollocks !!
Not sure what any of that has to do with Wolves, Cheesy but to inject some facts into the piece – Salary of an MP £84144 per year. Mick Lynch was paid £124,000 last year.
Stick to football, cheese, you’re pretty knowledgeable about that.
Yep. Soz. I get a bit carried away at times. Any way. Good to see the old Wolves flag at Glasto. The 3 Wolves one. Year after year it’s there. Planty up next on BBC 2.
Sutton, I think you’re confusing Fuck All with that well-known Chinese player, Fook All. Latest rumour is that Fulham hijacked the deal, with the Chinese takeaways in Fulham Palace Road being the main attraction.
I knew I’d heard the name somewhere. I once went to a boxing match on the Fulham Road. I remember a young cockney lad knocking seven bells out of a punch drunk chap from Tokyo. His father was in his corner and literally shit himself when he got knocked out. The headline in the boxing gazette the following day was”KO for slaphappy Jappy with crap happy pappy”.
So we’ve finally signed somebody…
Rhys Carr …..
Is he Neves’ replacement? … blooming hope not … we’ve strengthened the back room staff.,, whoop whoop..,
We must be set for a very busy few days in the transfer market. Of course, in theory, we have the whole of the transfer window to reshape our squad but Bruno publicly stated a few weeks ago that he wanted his squad for the new season assembled for the return of pre season on 1st July. There is an interesting polarity already emerging in the market between those clubs getting their business done early and those yet to get going. Judge Fosun not by what you read or what they say but by what they do is my mantra. Bruno has also publicly stated that we need a couple of players in addition to any that leave the squad, so by my estimate, we are already due c.5-6 incomings and that’s a lot of activity to get through in the next 9 days. Stand by your devices for updates!
In theory, yes. But not until we sell Traore and Neves, and maybe one or two more, to provide the funds for Bruno. Sadly, if outgoings don’t happen, or happen too late in the window, Bruno is buggered.
Do we have a Plan B ?
Sometimes i’m not sure we have a Plan A
Well at least this is just the first of two transfer windows in the current financial year at Wolves. This might tempt Fosun to splash out, without waiting for sales. If they spend without selling in this window, they will have January to try and square the finances by just selling. Financial year ends in May. As long as the figures look right then, it’s OK. Risky maybe.
Oops, according to Bloomberg and Moodys rating agencies, Fosun might be up a certain creek. Fosun’s credit rating has been downgraded. Five year bonds are selling for half their maturity value and may be unofficially rated as junk bonds. Unfortunately the savage downturn in the Chinese property market has resulted in a corresponding squeeze on liquidity. According to Moodys, liquidity in Fosun is insufficient to cover debt maturing in the next year. Ouch.
Maybe the Yanks can throw Fosun a paddle and buy Wolves.
I’ll do it!
Just found a five gallon can of gasoline, so I got the money!
Gasoline?
Gasoline!?? This ay the world west olive.
Doysal or petrul ay it?
Woy ay yow tookin Black coontray Big lad?
I hope the blooms on my Molineux rose are a good omen for next season.
Even growing sideways!
I’m beginning to lose a bit of hope that we will sign anyone of quality. Nunes has apparently totally dismissed any chance of signing for Wolves .Paulinha is stalling over any move to either us or Fulham, Enzo is going elsewhere. At least Neves hasn’t left yet! We’ve got another 10 days or so to get some signings done, if Lage wants a full preseason with them.
Apologies for my outburst re the strikers. Well all have our opinions.of course. I always respect them. It’s the old punk anti establishment thing. I can’t shake it off. Any way. Robert Plant on at Glasto tonight. The usual 2 Wolves flags in the crowd.
RIP Paul Darby
Never knew him but he played a part in the best of times for me as a Wolves fan. “What score will it be today?”” how many will Bully score? “ “will Mutchy get one?” Loved it
Thanks for keeping them fit and playing such an important role in getting us to where we are today.
I haven’t posted since the Brighton debacle , thinking then that the “season of Missed Opportunities” had come to an end. Seems I was (sadly) right but now it seems the theme is continuing;
We get Marquinhos to sign a contract and leave a loophole for Arsenal to crawl through to sign him.
We identify Palhinha two years ago as a replacement yet faff around until Fulham, yes Fulham! make him a better offer.
We name Botman as a target but dilly dally until everyone else knows about it
We send a rep to Argentina to sort out a deal for Enzo but then find out Benfica have done a deal already
We express a strong interest in Guedes only to find out Mourinho has already tapped him up.
If Nunes wanted to come , he would be here already, why didn’t we know that he didn’t fancy it?
How is it other clubs identify a target and the sign him without fuss or competition?
Meanwhile Neves sits in the departure lounge and Raul and Rayan have an overnight bag packed and a taxi on standby.
So Ronaldo fancies a change apparently, we are bound to be “interested” but will “just miss out”/”not the right deal” etc.
Meanwhile Oli McBurnie is keeping his fingers crossed for his “dream move”.
Judge them not by what they say but by what they do. Bruno said he wanted his full squad assembled by 1st July and the return to pre season training to allow maximum preparation time for the new season. In January, when we were very much in the mix for a European spot, we bizarrely weakened, rather than strengthened the squad by releasing Traore and making no additions. Look how that ended up. So far with 5 days to go before pre season starts, we have weakened the squad further with releases and loans and made no new additions. Sellars and the scouting team are supposed to work 24/7 identifying global talent. There are only 2 causes here for our lack of players. Sellars complete incompetence in role and/or fosun’s wilful decision not to invest. Either way the future is not bright. Many of the teams in the Pl have already strengthened significantly and irrespective of whether we think they are good additions or not, it means they are already steps ahead of us in their pre season plans and therefore already hold an advantage. This is not me “wetting”, this is the rule of marginal gains principle. The off field team working on player acquisitions meant to be supporting the playing side of wolves is not pl class it is league one standard. Mendes is becoming impotent in player acquisitions and only active in disposals. If Bruno is the man he portrays himself to be, I would not be surprised if he decides to exit before the start of the season or is eased out by fosun because he refuses to continue to peddle the collective responsibility line. All very disappointing.
Bruno also clarified his statement by saying he understands other clubs will compete. Not all players will want to come to Wolverhampton. That the project may or may not be a sufficient allure. Basically if player X wants to go to Chelsea there ain’t much we can do anout it. Hence Fosun tend to research the leftfield players off the Big Six Newcastle radars.
That may all be true Cheesy but given the research process is happening all year round that still does not explain the complete lack of additions or indeed why so many clubs outside the top six/ Newcastle have made positive acquisitions to strengthen their squads, does it? Bruno or whoever saying there is competition for players and not all of them will want to come to Wolverhampton is a bit like trying to fill any job vacancy. If you are losing out on staff to competitors or they don’t find your proposition attractive then change your offer or change where you target or start to see your business go backwards! But don’t do nothing other than throw your hands up in the air and say it’s tough but sooner or later it will come good.
Well there isnt a prayer of bruno having his “squad” together for the 1st july there will be a squad but it wont be his squad it will be whats left over from last season which will then be depleted further when ruben does one and a few others follow him out the door.
Meanwhile scott sellars is down the hairdresser getting his perm done and jeff is eating chop suey at the chinese in penn !
Piss poor organisation not to have had most if not all of your targets recognised and sorted by the refs whistle on the last day .
Just like the vile have done ….unfortunately !
Be careful what you say Spike……..you run the risk of being called a pant wetter by the Jeff and Fosun can do no wrong brigade.
In the words of our beloved Brompton,
Now is the summer of our discount tent.
Brilliant … made me laugh anyway !
That was the most significant comment I’ve seen you write since I’ve been on here….re Traore he is literally worth 15 points on his own he’s a liability in front of goal but as a chance maker particularly when the odds are against us he can turn a game with an assist..
Jimenez needed him ..more so on the deck it showed we couldn’t take on better defences without him..
Him and Netto on form this season will create goals for the front men including Silva ..
Cheese is quite……..not wetting his pants is he. Not to worry Jeff and Scott will come good on the last day of the transfer window with 4 signing no one has ever heard of all about 19 years old and in Jeffs words ” outstanding prospects ” of disappearing without trace.
Transfer window shuts 1st September. Certainly not wetting my pants . Erm…. 67 days to go yet. Put your dummy back in.!
Forest have signed a decent striker from Herha Berlin this lad is decent Carnot spell his name but scored a shed load in an average team watch out for him next season only cost £17 million.
Wolves have signed ……….err…………no one better change me pants again.
Oh Wolves records has just signed five girls from Bilston…….Jeff reckons there the next Spice Girls.
In defence of Fosun. 1. Best owners we have ever had. 2. Fifth consecutive season top flight since the 1970’s. 3. Three of four top flight seasons top 10. 4. Europe adventure 5. FA cup semi final 6. Euro quarter final . Show a bit of gratitude. I will argue until I am blue in the face Fosun will not want the investment to suffer. I will happily come on here on 2nd September and take the flak if Fosun have not invested. I will also reconsider my faith in them should significant investment not materialise.
You’re a solid Wolves fan Cheese , I needed an optimistic read cos all I m seeing is players being linked away
. Anyway… we’ve been there for worse eh!?
Best owners we’ve ever had?
Different days I know but the Marshalls tenure resulted in 3 League titles, an FA Cup win and a UEFA Cup Final.
I think Fosun have a way to go before they can lay y claims to that record.
Cheese I cannot argue with what Fosun have done in the last Four years……….but it’s the next four to five years that concern me.
They have moved so far away from the football Side in fact everything regards the football side of things has been put on hold in favour of other commercial projects that will not see the benefit for yea if at all.
The stadium we are falling behind in match day revenue similar size clubs are expanding there grounds and not with temporary fixes.
It’s not just about in vestment in the team the whole infrastructure of the club needs constant investment to keep pace with similar size clubs.
Truly correct as usual cheesy and we really should be grateful considering where we’ve come from but i think a lot of us just dont want to go back to where we came from hence the “”pant wetting ” im sick of changing mine.
Just another point, when we were on the up with uncle George fully on board and the “project” in full swing it seemed all sorts were happy to come to wolves but I’m picking up a vibe that players are not so keen anymore could it be that some just dont want to play for a club owned by the Chinese .Maybe, as many on here do they just dont trust them . After all “the project” for whatever reasons has taken a distinctive downturn in the last 2 seasons .
There are a whole shed load of reasons why things havent gone to plan we know that but other clubs are passing us by in the investment stakes and getting their house in order ready for what i think will be wolves biggest challenge in the prem yet.
When mrs spikey and i went to see bully the other week he was asked about the investment that doesnt seem to be happening and his answer was quite specific that without some major signings wolves will be in trouble next season .
We wait to see the outcome , meanwhile I’m off to marks for some new pants.
Following the transfer rumour mill over the last few weeks this is beginning to look like the previous 4 or 5 windows – lots of top class “targets” being “identified” and subsequently signing for other clubs. It seems likely that long term target Palhinha is going to Fulham and just waiting to see where Nunes finishes up. And uncle Jorge seems more proactive in getting players out than in.
Meanwhile our Chinese owners and their connections seem to be far more interested in acquiring players for Grasshoppers Zurich through Wolves than they are in getting players into Molineux. Anything to do with the banking “gnomes” in Zurich?
Jeff Shi has become very adept at working with smoke and mirrors.
Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Bruno join the queue of players going through the exit door voluntarily the way things are goimg.
Unless the situation changes very rapidly we are facing a potential relegation battle.
Bruno has talked of the ‘domino effect’. It’s common to many or most clubs in fact. A large successful bid for a star player will result in the selling club splashing out on replacements. We seem to be hamstrung because the anticipated bids for our players haven’t come in. It may seem like good news that Neves is staying, but it’s probably only because no club wants to buy him for anything like what we are asking. And yet, certain players are leaving without significant money coming in. A vicious circle may be approaching. We can’t replace outgoing players with better players, and the first team squad is shrinking in numbers. Like Rooney at Derby County, that might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for Bruno. It’s sad, but a fact, that we need to sell one of our finest ever players, Neves, to keep the project going. Then we can play dominoes.
The only reason that we have to sell Neves is that he now (correctly) perceives that Fosun’s ambitions for our club no longer match his or are worthy of his presence. And comparing us with a club in the financial mess that Derby County are in is a very alarming perspective.
But if we can’t sell him, he stays. I want him to stay but not if it’s for the wrong reason. The right reason would be to build an ambitious team around him. If we can’t raise the funds from sales to buy players, I see us in a rut in lower mid PL table at best, rather like Nuno’s last season. We won’t go down Derby’s route, we will be self-sustaining (and very boring) financially. But, that might not match Bruno’s expectations and ambitions, not to mention any guarantees and promises made to him when he took the job.
Already on the outbound train – Ruddy, Marcal, Saiss and Hoever.
Taxis currently being booked to go to the station for Traore, Neves, Campana, Jordao and, probably Moutinho
£18 million about to be written off for Cuitrone.
Paid £5 million for Leo Bonatini and he hasn’t played a game for us (nor even lived in England) in the 3 years since
On loan Hungarian international Bendeguz Bolla has rented his flat in Zurich for another 12 months. Others are also still residing with the gnomes in Zurich on loans. Who is paying their wages?
Reports that high profile European giants are about to offer big money for Semedo and Ait-Nouri. If true can’t see us not accepting even if there is only a hint of a profit.
Gibbs-White seems likely to be playing for anyone other than Wolves next season.
Fabio Silva????
Meanwhile we are about to sign ????? with Bruno wanting all business done by this Friday. Apparently we can’t spend util we sell! How much do the scouse gits still owe for Jota?
Fred Carno would be proud of you Jeff and your stooge Sellars (look at his CV on Wikipedia).
Will the last man leaving Molineux please turn the lights out.
£600 odd for my season ticket not looking great value even on the never never (hooray interest free).
Almost tempted to say bring back the Bhattis.
Bring back the Bhattis? What a fucking joke. If i remember them they didn’t lead us to 5 seasons in the top flight. I remember being at the Mol in December and they wouldn’t put the fucking floodlights on till half time to save electric. Jesus christ. Some knobs out there.
Always the negative waves, Moriarty, always the negative waves!
But this Tiger is a piece of junk.
Y’all know that’s paraphrashed from Kelly’s Heroes.
Which was a comedy.
Just like this post has become.
The sheer depth of absolute certainty about how everyone at the club thinks, how they are going to act and who they are selling and buying.
You know everything!
So why haven’t any of you won the lottery?
Or the prediction league?
Can’t be difficult if you know how inscrutable Chinese folk think.
So, stick to your tried and tested 1970’s Wolves fan mantras, and be as miserable as sin all the time, me and Cheesy and lots of others are having fun!!.
Of course it’s a joke.
Read between the lines and get off your high horse; and get over your obsession with Fosun. I have supported them, probably for too long, but they have now reached the point where everyone probably needs to move on. Yes, there have been difficult circumstances but the current scenario is leading us towards an unmitigated disaster.
Basically there is no sense of direction whatsoever. WWFC is being subjected to corporate negligence, almost vandalism.
And yes I know that I need to be careful what I wish for, but I wish for better than this shambles. Because if this state of disinterest and inertia is allowed to continue then 5 years of good work is about to disappear in the blink of an eye.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that our owners have much higher priorities than a provincial football club in the middle of England.
And tone down the fucking insults.
Couldn’t give a damn what Chinese or even expat Texans think as long as it doesn’t affect our football club.
Just heard on the grapevine we are to sign Chritiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba tomorrow. Well. Thats division 2 coming then.
Wouldn’t pay Pogba in washers.
But so pleased about Ronaldo – a true professional!
Can i just make a plea. For calm. Let us not kill each other on here. Look. I accept folks on here have a different perspective to me. It doesn’t mean I particularly hate you. I don’t. I actually enjoy the debate. Fosun brilliant. Fosun rubbish. It is what it is.at the end of the day managers, players , owners will come and go . We as fans of the greatest football team in the world will always be here. Love you all.
Glad to hear it CoD, but would politely point out that you’re the one who tends to go OTT; always happy to debate with you but I don’t appreciate being called a knob, so just responding in kind.
Pax.
Point taken PJB. It does tend to get emotional. Well i do. It’s Wolves. Apologies for calling you a knob. Not acceptable.
I’d gladly see the Premierleague money dry up tbh.
The greed and wantun lust awashing this league is not sustainable. I also wish the super duper European wannabees had left as well.
Football used to be about entertainment, beer and working class folk .
This ,at wolves is the thin end of a fat wadge of fifty pound notes and I think we will struggle to keep up the momentum we created under Nuno.
What do I know?
From a personal perspective, it seems to me that the Chinese government are behind the lack of investment of all foreign owned football clubs. I suspect the Chinese authorities have warned individuals or major companies that any foreign investment will be “ dealt” with. Hence the new mantra that WWFC need to be self sustaining, certainly a massive shift from when they first took over. The political landscape has changed significantly over the last 3 years , and doesn’t look likely to change for a while either. Therefore I don’t expect any significant signings to be made before any outgoings. I also don’t expect Fosun to cough up if we are in a relegation fight this season, especially if their government are looking over their shoulder. That’s just my opinion of course, but if it comes to pass, all very depressing. Even with the 3 who have left already, we still have a good enough squad to stay up, barring injuries and any more outgoings, ( aside from the overhyped Traore) but we certainly need Neto, Podence and Jimenez to be more clinical this season.
I’ve said before, Wolves need to look west rather than east for our future. The Yanks were battling each other to buy Chelsea for £4bil plus. For a fraction, they can buy a more historic club in the same bloody league, Wolves! The Yanks won’t make any money out of Chelsea, as they can’t take dividends or income for ten years, but
they still bought it. Why? There are other reasons. Given Fosun’s problems as a Chinese business, they should sell Wolves. An awful lot has changed in the world in six years since Fosun bought Wolves. Take the profit and run, Fosun.
Hear! hear!.
My sentiments exactly after hearing our new head of the armed forces this morning saying that Europe needs to sort out the Russians as the yanks are going to have to sort out the Chinese at some point .
Bet that went down well in Beijing and we think they are going to allow investment in western football clubs …seems highly unlikely to me …more like pull your money out we are going to need every penny we can get.
I’ve never been truly happy with Chinese ownership apart from when they were piling in the money to get us up with the blessing of their government who at the time were buying everything western they could get their hands on but seeing what’s happened to abramovich and his cronies a shot has been fired across their bows and owning everything means nothing if your country turns on its neighbours which is highly likely regards Taiwan and your assets abroad are seized you then own nothing .
So please Fosun sell us to a very wealthy yank and his mates asap.
If China does something silly like directly supporting Russia in Ukraine, Fosun owners could even be subject to sanctions like Abramovich was, and by proxy, Wolves would be too. I’m a Chelsea STH and I know how it panned out for the fans. Once the sanctions hit we couldn’t even buy a drink or a programme while the sale process was ongoing. If it happened to Fosun, that would be that then, and the club would be up for sale, with the proceeds frozen or confiscated. Very unlikely I know.
Fosun is an investment company and nothing they own is owned forever. Wolves is just another ‘asset’ in their so-called ‘Happiness’ division. Already, shifting policies in China have hamstrung Fosun financially, through no fault of their own. Also, there must be a risk, albeit small, that they could be sanctioned like Abramovich. Why not sell? Better to take the profit and run. After all, we’re just an asset in their portfolio and will be sold one day.
Good sense comments from both Adrian and DWW above.
Agreed Adrian – Fosun bought into the football “project” with a view to opening up in the Asian market and their bubble has been burst by geopolitics. I also think that they originally underestimated the task of breaking the mould (ie cracking “the Big 6” stranglehold).
On foreign ownership not sure I fancy yanks – with them it’s all about franchises and monopolies a la the attempted breakaway led by the Glazers and the scouse yanks. Only my opinion because all owners come with baggage, Russian. American, Arabic or whatever; even English – look at Mike Ashley. Really think Man City drew the prize card though, an absolute game changer,
And I’m with you DWW, probably best for all parties if Fosun cash in and cut and run, but we’ll have to hope and pray we get the right people in afterwards. Whatever we thought of Jez Moxey he didn’t do a bad job on that front.
The thing is whatever the re ditched the project be that pressure from Chinese government or they simply don’t want to pour money into Wolves well that’s find……….the decent thing to do then is sell up and see if they can find some one who is willing to invest.
But to carry on as they have been doing half hearted only leads to disaster eventually it happened with Jack Hayward and Morgan as soon as they lost interest we all know what happened.
That’s the most annoying thing for me they are carrying on this self sufficient road again the same road Jack and Morgan went down and it didn’t end well for them or Wolves.
Self sufficiency = We want to take more out than we put in.
And suspect that they may be finding that easier using Grasshoppers as the vehicle (subsidised by us?)..
Nothing wrong with profit per se but you have to invest sufficiently first and a net spend of c.£200 million over 6 years won’t cut it in the EPL., specially when your original investment has increased tenfold.
Your deja vu analysis is spot on.
Message for Cheese……..
SHAM 69 Touring………..there’s gonna be a borstal breakout….
‘ In August 2005 Pursey was involved in a physical confrontation with John Lydon whilst they were both queuing for travel visas at the United States Embassy in London, Lydon reportedly having spurned an offer of Pursey’s hand with verbal abuse and a drink being thrown, with Pursey responding by kicking at Lydon in retaliation.’ Wiki.
Grow up!
Or not, as the case may be. 1 lv.
Yeah son. SHAM 69. Seen them a few times down the years. Weirdly i was driving back from work last week with ‘Borstal Breakout’ blaring out on the CD. Stiff Little Fingers at KK Steel Mill, Wolvo on 14th July. And regarding Wolves. Some bloke in the pub reckons announcement due 1st July re signings. Maybe just another rumour !!
Newcastle set to sign Botman from Lillie……….another on we have been linked with and couldn’t get over the line…….Jeff.
If most wolves fans can see the wheels coming off our club with fosun’s inactivity in player acquisitions, a penny for the thoughts of the players themselves. They are not stupid and we have some very seasoned professionals, they can see the direction of travel. We might have sufficient talent to stay up but that assumes a highly motivated team. In the current climate at the club, I’m not sure that is guaranteed next season. As you dismantle the squad that has served us well for a few seasons you simply have to inject new blood, talented and enthusiastic, otherwise you will go backwards at a rate of knots – witness the wolves team of the late seventies/ early eighties which suffered from chronic lack of investment (different causes for that admittedly) .
Suspect we may have already seen the beginning of just that scenario Sutton with the results over the latter part of the season reflecting the non event of the January window (other than sending Traore to Barca).
Newcastle have signed Botman it’s official undisclosed fee……..fucks sake what the fuck are Sellears and Jeff doing the whole set up is rotten to the core you’ve got Jeff and his “yes men” pissing about and ruining our football club.
How do you know we even wanted to sign Botman? Documentary evidence ? Or just farcical twitter experts who probably appeared in 2018 when the going was good.
65 days till the window shuts. Talk about hysterical. Blimey. Dummys. Prams.
And it’s been open for 19 days!! Lage wanted a full preseason with the new signings!
Quite agree. Some folks never seem to realise that until Jeff announces a signing , it’s all media speculation. It’s best not to get drawn into the never ending argument surrounding Fosun/Jeff/ potential signings as we have no influence whatsoever on the outcome. I just try and enjoy other sports until we hear something concrete- the cricket is exciting, great rugby test matches this weekend and the Commonwealth Games to start on our doorstep.
The one about the Bhatti brothers. Speechless. Dear God.
Give it a rest – see above including yourself 7.24pm 28/6.
I came across this BBC transfer list from August 2018, following our promotion to the PL. The future looked very optimistic then. The sales of Afobe and Barry Douglas were criticized by many, but were vindicated in time. Afobe was bought and then released, as he had been a very naughty boy.
Wolves
Ins
Adama Traore [Middlesbrough] £18m, Rui Patricio [Sporting Lisbon] Free, Raul Jimenez [Benfica] Loan, Benik Afobe [Bournemouth] £10m, Willy Boly [Porto] £10m, Jonny Castro Otto [Atletico Madrid] Loan, Joao Moutinho [Monaco] £5m, Leander Dendoncker [Anderlecht] Loan
Outs
Carl Ikeme Retired, Barry Douglas [Leeds] Undisclosed, Ben Marshall [Norwich] Undisclosed, Sherwin Seedorf [Bradford] Loan, Harry Burgoyne [Plymouth] Loan, Benik Afobe [Stoke] Loan, Aaron Collins [Colchester] Loan, Roderick Miranda [Olympiakos] Loan, Prince Oniangue [Caen] Undisclosed, Jonathan Flatt [Scunthorpe] Free, Hakeem Odoffin [Northampton] Free
We already had Boly, Neves and Jota of course. My whole point is that we bought very shrewdly in that summer 2018 transfer window. There was a clear upgrade strategy to the outgoing players. Since then we have faltered, with the exception of the purchases of Sa, Neto and Podence. It’s probably a lot to do with the individuals responsible for scouting and recruitment, as well as availability of funds.
Will I be relieved when the next few weeks are over and we’ll actually know and be able to judge whether we are making any form of progress in these difficult times. The fears expressed are completely understandable in the present political climate, but, hey ho, maybe the bottle was half full all the time and we may make the required additions to midfield and up front. Maybe some of our lads, with another year’s experience and growth, will show the progress as shown by Kilman and Gomes. We definitely need some infusion of new, able blood to pick up the squad and fans after the tail off last season, but many lads were trying to catch up after long lay offs: we certainly need to avoid such a plague of injuries but numerous teams at this level go through the same scenario: we had been very lucky with this regard in the previous few seasons.
We still have a good number of very good players but certain areas of the squad are bereft of the amount of talent and cover required: central midfield and Jimenez’s areas in particular need to be addressed to fill my glass. If relevant acquisitions are forthcoming it will lift both the squad and fans; if not, then the fans and, importantly, remaining squad members will get the message and react accordingly.
I’ve just been hit by a massive dose of nostalgia when all games were played at 3pm on a Saturday and each club had a more or less equal chance of winning the league but we’ll never get back to anything like that, I know. Money is the root of… Good to see both friendlies are on Wolves TV. Whatever I can hardly wait to see the guys back on the hallowed turf.
According to the foreign secretary Liz Truss at the Nato Summit today, she fears that China might make a catastrophic miscalculation by attacking Taiwan, because Russia’s invasion of Ukraine brings China and Russia closer together. No prizes for guessing what that might mean for Chinese billionaires with assets in the UK. Back in February, who expected Roman Abramovich to be sanctioned, but he was in short order.
Dances
We shouldn’t do politics on here, but Liz Truss is a bit of a loose cannon (imo too much so to be FS).
I respect that PJB and wouldn’t talk politics on this site. I’m drawing attention to the fact that our owners could conceivably be sanctioned.
I think Fosun must have been sanctioned already. There seems to be a complete embargo on signing players.
Finger was pointed at myself DWW, your point is valid. No criticism of you intended. sorry if it read that way.
I’ll always bow to people with expertise so could someone out there hit us with the accountancy . The TV money is guaranteed, the other income from merit money, previous transfers, sponsors, corporates, season tickets and gate receipts is pretty much nailed on. We know the wage bill and have reduced it with players leaving. So there should be a surplus to spend . Tell me I’m wrong.
The manager deserves support in improving the depth and quality of the squad, to do nothing at this level is to go backwards. All the malarkey about who we are interested in just fuels the frustration we are all feeling when the likes of Everton, Fulham, West Ham, Newcastle, Villa have identified their targets and got them in already. Why are we finding out now that Mendez has a 10% stake in Palhinha’s fee or that Nunes doesn’t fancy living in Tettenhall, who hasn’t been doing their homework?
Good points BG. As regards living near to Wolverhampton, compared to London, that might be an issue for some prospective Continental signings. Hopefully our Portuguese lads can sell the idea to them. Fulham will be opening the great new Riverside stand next season, and what are we doing? Papering over the cracks…
Couldn’t agree more BG. We’re falling rapidly behind the pack and I don’t believe we have any serious intent re Palhinha, Nunes, Guedes or any other high profile players and certainly not until/unless Neves moves on. If Jeff Shi has his way with his smoke and mirrors tactics Neves will likely depart in the last few days of the transfer window and be replaced by a loan signing.
It’s clear that, probably for a variety of reasons, WWFC has become a very low priority in the Fosun organisation and their lack of activity over several transfer windows backs up this contention. It’s nothing new, their grandiose plans for a seat at football’s top table have proved totally unrealistic and we are now in tick over mode, which in reality is going backwards.
I really, really hope that Jeff and co. prove me totally wrong over the next few weeks and give Bruno the backing he desperately needs. But if we have to sell our best player before we can do that the signs are not good.
If Fosun have no alternative to leaving us in limbo then they should do the right thing for everyone and cash in on their investment sooner rather than later before their profit goes up in smoke – Championship clubs are far less valuable than those in the PL.
All these people complaining about Wolves’ lack of action in the transfer market should have a look the “Done Deals” on the Sky Sports Transfer Centre site.
We’re not alone!
For all the rumours, Chelsea, Leicester, Everton, Fulham, Brentford, and Man Utd haven’t bought anyone yet, either.
Exactly. I’m a Chelsea season ticket holder. Todd Boehly must go! I can only see relegation! Stamford Bridge is falling apart!
Fair point except that we have already lost Ruddy, Marcal, Saiss, Hoever and Trincao, while serious question marks are applicable to the futures of Neves, Moutinho, Traore and Gibbs-White. And the squad was already short on numbers.
Well PJB, we’re obviously reducing the wage bill, big time. And it’s likely that Moutinho will be going as we won’t give him the two year contract he wants. He’s a major earner, but with ageing legs! Obviously we will be bringing several players in, but of what quality?
From what I’m reading DWW the latest tool in the Shi smoke and mirrors pack is scouring South America for young talent. Hope he can pull it off! They may however be destined for Zurich without ever setting foot in Wolverhampton during the course of their contracts though I note that Leo Bonatini is back in town for a few weeks; we could do worse than start him up front with Hwang whilst he winds down the last 12 months of his contract with us. Would love to know what the remuneration arrangements are with all our loanees at Mrs. Guanchang’s club.
Exactly which club are they looking at this young talent for, we can wonder.
To Mrs Guanchang , I would like to channel my inner David Carradine in Kung Fu, talking to Grasshopper. “Nothing more, my son. But if you choose to think there may be more, you are welcome to follow.”
We were in for Botman last year and could have made a bid for Tarkowski , both have gone elsewhere. The big six have bigger turnovers so I don’t worry about them , they will shop where they want when they want but we just seem to be looking through the shop windows and walking past.
If Brentford can put £20m on the table for the young lad from Hull it seems strange that we can’t compete until we sell or at least borrow against future earnings.
I feel really sorry for Bruno and the remaining players in our squad. On the day he expressed a simple desire to have his squad assembled for the new season, he finds himself with a squad that was paper thin for last season further depleted for this. There are only two drivers for this – 1. Gross incompetence from those leading player recruitment or 2. Wilful intent to commit no further investment into Wolves. In reality, it may well be a combination the two but either way Bruno is left high and dry again. Of course, Bruno”s personal situation might dictate otherwise but he couldn’t be blamed if he resigned on principle at this point. The One Pack ethos clearly doesn’t extend to the club’s hierarchy.
Here we go again with the I know what everyone else is thinking brigade.
I don’t recall seeing anywhere that Jeff has said Bruno will have a full squad for today, white rabbits to y’all by the way, only that Bruno wants one.
Big, big difference.
As has been stated above, all managers want a full squad, but as a lot of them are vying for the same players, a lot will be disappointed.
Does not mean toys will emanate from prams, but will mean good managers will adapt.
And lets keep this thread going, nearly on the magic 300 comments.

Clive, where in the text do I claim to know what people are thinking? Please read what it actually says. I will give you some leeway though as now you are a naturalised Yank, I recognise English won’t be your first language.
Agreed.
Setting arbitrary dates in the current transfer market is not very realistic as “chain deals” seem to be the order of the day. We have to wait and hope, but there must be genuine concern that letting current squad members leave en masse is a risky business without having our ducks in a row for incomers. We can only wait and hope but the evidence of recent windows doesn’t exactly inspire confidence and the danger must be that we are left floundering around again doing last minute deals for second rate alternatives or loans.
Maybe we could recall some of our full internationals from Zurich or Florida as an option.
Mystic Mol from Houston does not make predictions, folks. You should know better. Except when he predicts that Wolves will win every match 5-1, cough, cough.
Bruno has been let down time and time again by Jeff and Co: and to be honest I’d have more respect for Bruno if he walk because Jeff and Scott are not just walking all over him…….they are pissing down his back and telling him it’s raining.
With regard to discussions about player transfer, I have just watched an
interesting discussion between Kenny Hibbit, Mickey Burrows and Chris Iwelumo
on YouTube.
Kenny says ‘Two T’s at the end of Hibbitt please, or I may be confused with the under 18’s midfielder we’re about to sign from Kiddiminster Harriers for a family sized packet of noodles.’ 1 lv.
Ps. Can you post a link?
Thank you Rasta. Hibbitt it is! I used to live near KiddERminster!
For the discussion, just go on YouTube search and type in Kenny Hibbitt, Mickey Burrows and Chris Iwelumo. There is also a video of Kennys goals.
In fact, as many on here will know, it is possible to type in any Wolves player and get some entertaining coverage. I just looked up Derek Dougan’s goals for some great footage including the stunning Waggy. Also, I came across a section of Derek Parkin, that Prince among full backs. Great days!
Cheers Kendal.
Hauling you up on Hibbitt and then mispelling Kidderminster. Doh!!
Always relaxing watching Wolves score some goals though. I’m going through Bully’s back catalogue. 1 lv
My pleasure Rasta.
Bully is next on my list. What great signings he and Thomo were.
Great “ ones for the future “ weren’t they!
Some players who should perhaps be on Wolves radar as potential “acquisitions” in the upcoming season
Hayao Kawabe
Theo Corbeanu
Leo Campana
Jeong Sang-bin
Bruno Jordao
The first first 4 have all played at senior level for their countries and Jordao has represented Portugal U21/23.
What do they have in common?
Yes, they are all Wolves players who have collectively cost the club around £10 million in transfer fees (plus presumably agents fees and some not inconsiderable wages subsidies) but who seem to have no prospect of ever setting foot on the pitch at Molineux.
Then there is Leo Bonatini who returned to the club for a fee of £5 million and has never played for the first team since after 4 yeas out on loan.
And Patrick Cuitrone? Just an expensive mistake I think.
Either our scouting staff are guilty of expensive misjudgement and incompetence or there are alternative agendas underway.
If they aren’t good enough then this level of incompetence in our management is astonishing. If this isn’t the case then what’s it all about?
Just for a bit of balance why don’t you list all the players who have been a success?
Can’t think of many “one’s for the future” who have been loaned out long term and returned to be become a huge success.
Many more , however, have fallen by the wayside.
Please help out – for balance.
Just of the top of my head some of the acquisitions since Fosun took over:
Patricio
Sa
Jonny
Boly
Neves
Moutinho
Raul
Neto
I’m sure I’ve missed some but do you have issues with any of those purchases?
No angst Manx but I’m not sure we’re on the same page.
All those listed by your good self are/were established players of the highest calibre who went straight into the first team scenario. I have no problem’s with that level of recruitment.
My concern relates to the “ones for the future” strategy which has come into play over the last few years involving purchases who rarely get into our first team squad but spend the entire duration of their contracts playing for other (often associated) clubs such as Grasshoppers with no apparent benefit to WWFC, Hence the subjective examples named in my post.
Bottom line – what’s in it for us?
You must have a good knowledge of football PJB, with the exception of Patricio, Moutinho and Traore I’ve never heard of any of our signings including Neves, Neto, Raul and the others on that list.
All clubs dabble with “ones for the future”, partly to generate income and partly in the hope of unearthing a gem. Given the literally hundreds of thousands of young players out there, as long as you’re making a modest profit from player trading then if you get a success rate of one in a hundred you’re doing extremely well.
Most of them will never been seen in a Wolves shirt, but I reckon with Kilman (nominal fee from Maidenhead) and Toti (just under £1m from Estoril) we haven’t done too bad.
Of course, that doesn’t stop the need for first team signings as well, which we all await with baited breath!
At last .. someone with a sense of perspective… unlike some I could mention ..
That’s the fascination of signing ‘ones for the future’- no-one can forecast whether they will develop into the first-team squad or not. Neto came as part of the same deal with Jordao- the former is now a key member of the team, the other is yet to make the leap, if ever he does. By the same token there is no guarantee that an established player will fit in and perform at a new club. Seems that Palhinha has now signed for Fulham, good luck to them, he doesn’t look to be an improvement on the Donk. Keep the faith and reserve judgement when the window has closed.
Time for a new thread im sick of scrolling !
It’s getting beyond a joke know……..it really is. My adivce to Bruno would be Jeff has shown over the time Bruno has been coach he could not give a fuck what he thinks…needs never mind what he wants.
If I was Bruno I’d tell Jeff to stick his job up his arse…….go back to your home land Bruno you will get a job know problem and show Jeff what a complete and utter novice he is when it come to running a football club…….now when it comes to ruining and football club Jeff and Fosun and there yes men are Champions League they would even get in the super League.
I would imagine Bruno is still amazed he got the chance to manage a top 10 club in the Premier League to be honest,
Bruno has spent most of his coaching career with Benfica. Not sure we’re bigger than they are.
Top ten………for how long…!
I guess the latest ‘one for the future’ signing is Bruno himself. Time will tell.
But, he’s made a great start given the resources at his disposal.
Nearly as good as Nuno did.
A good evening at Molineux on Thursday listening to Matt Murray, Carl Ikeme and Tony Roberts, with Mike Burrows as host. It was very uplifting, when towards the end they all agreed that Wolves was a special club, like no other. They all looked forward to a positive transfer window.
By the way, it is early days yet but the new pitch was already looking pretty decent.
I completely understand and empathise with the concern regarding signings for the new season.
However, some of our young signings are beginning to look suitable for the level we are playing at; Toti, Chiquino, Ait Nouri, Kilman, Morgan Gibbs White, Luke Cundle, Chiquino, Neto, and Silva. Jordao and Mosquera have suffered bad injuries but have shown some promise in the past. I always like Conor Ronan and Giles who will both have a good profession hopefully. Chem Campbell, Marques and Bueno may well be ones for the short term future; who really knows? Some will undoubtedly fall by the wayside and injuries will affect some as that always happens sadly.
Our real need is to add to the central midfield and central striker areas in my opinion. If Neves leaves, those are massive shoes to fill and if Raul cannot get back to his previous levels then we are in the proverbial and I will be devastated. As I’ve said before, we’ve got some really good players but we have these two real areas for concern that do need urgent attention. If I can see that then I’m sure the pros can. Whether this is addressed effectively with the undoubted competition from not just the Premier League, but top European clubs, is what we will find out over the coming weeks.
Whatever, with our team due to be on our screens within a few weeks, I am, for some reason, starting to get really excited, as I did when we were in League One with Kenny. These are the best days I’ve seen since the fifties and seventies and I’m loving it…
Yeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhha………..we’ve made a signing…….I’m just reading the details as I type.
Wolves have beaten some of Europes top clubs including Premier League clubs to sign………hang on…….a 16 year old from Wimbledon………what……….and one for the distance future…….fuck me I might have know. Another one who will disappear without trace.
Well Jeff and Scott have done it again they’ve beaten Europe top clubs ……its a pity they Carnot beat them on the pitch what with no Europen football looking likely in the near future.
They are to ashamed to an once it to the media…..found it out via social media
An once it ??
Oh, sorry, forgot you are Paul ad76 in not much of a disguise.
Grammer an spelin still knot yer strung soot, eh, Paul?!
Paul who….just because I have similar view’s there are other Wolves fans not happy with the way Jeffs ruining our club you know a helll of a lot and there are more and more every day I noticed you use other names….pot and all that
Who are you?
Brompton I’m a Wolves fan just like you……and have been since the age of 6 I’m 57 and cannot believe the state our club is in.
We have a Owner we hardly see a billionaire but says we have to be self financing and the two jokers he has put in charge aka Jeff and Scott.
For t he umpteenth time, we are not owned by a billionaire.
Two months to go. Blimey. Just seen Andy Goram Rangers keeper is dead. I remember him like yesterday. Flippin eck .
Now that’s what I’d call a good sense of perspective.
So sad to learn that Andy Goram, given 6 months to live in May has succumbed to his terminal illness so quickly… as you say PJB … perspective…. there but for the Grace of God ..
RIP .
Tarkowski free from Burnley to Everton…….we cannot even get a free transfer in the door.
Tarkowski is a good player, but I don’t see him as an improvement in what we already have and we seem to have enough able players and understudies in this position. If a truly outstanding CB was available and wanted to come I would be all for that, but I fail to see how he would improve the side, good as he is.
If we don’t hear from Clive for a while, I think we’ll know why:
https://www.indy100.com/news/texas-man-jail-time-sex-with-horse
Whoever you are .. this is a disgustingly innuendoed slur against a fellow blogger….
You should show you hand and identify yourself…
Probably not always with you and / or Clive, but absolutely 100% solidarity on this – it’s way beyond the pail, totally out of order in any forum. Personal attacks of any sort are not acceptable, at the end of the day it’s only a bloody game.
Relax. It was a joke that he himself would make.
I don’t think so …
I’m old and wise enough to understand humour …
If you had anything about you a public apology would be the best starting point .,
So … you’re a Neigh Sayer and a John. ….
You’re the very reason why this blog has sunk to the lows occasionally because of people like YOU..,
Grow some balls and apologise publicly..
If nothing is forthcoming….
Please Thomas RED CARD THIS PERSON.,
Thomas. Can you please consider removing this post and advise this person that he has crossed the line. I am not happy with comments like this.
1000% agreed with you Steve….
Permanent red card, this has no place on the Blog.
I’ve not clicked the link in neigh- sayer’s post but go with the judgement of those that have commented and personal attacks on Clive or anyone aren’t acceptable. Don’t agree with everything he says but that’ s fair enough and his posts are more often than not in good humour and nothing else.
Changing topic, this is an interesting read about fosun.
https://www.ft.com/content/6e070719-6c4e-492d-8215-c050c4fd8068
Bad news is I doubt we will be seeing investment anytime soon, good news is it might just accelerate the sale of the club to a party that is willing to invest
Sutton – on Fosun.
Managed to access the whole article with a bit of playing around on Google. It explains our current situation. One of the most disturbing articles re The Wolves I have read in 40 odd years.
4 word immediate response is – oh dear we’re stuffed.
No wonder Jeff has learnt how to play smoke and mirrors so well.
If the FT analysis is anywhere near accurate Fosun (and Guo) face a very precarious future (at best).
Calling all Wolves supporters – watch this space with trepidation.
And for sure, as many of us realised a while back, the much vaunted “project” of 2016/17 is dead in the water under this regime.
It was good while it lasted.
Terry Jacks – “We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun”.
Should have included the second line of the chorus –
“But the hills that we climbed were just seasons out of time”.
It might not be quite as bleak as you think pjb but fosun will be keen to avoid a “fire sale” of Wolves. I wouldn’t be surprised if a sale to new owner is announced before the start of the season. Certainly the longer the lack of incomings goes on, the more it perhaps points to something In the offing. Either way I think your prognosis of the project being dead is now beyond doubt. It’s now more a question of what next and more importantly when. Withering on the vine through benign neglect will be the worst outcome in my opinion. The dynamic needs to change and sooner rather than later
We’re on the same page all t.he way Sutton.
Spot on Sutton I predicted a while back that Fosun would sell up within 2 years.
What your saying is correct project is dead and buried the last year of Nuno’s was the start and like you a long lingering drawn out sale will not do anyone any good the decent thing would be for them to admit it’s over and come clean.
The signs were there seen them before with Hayward and Morgan the ” self sufficant ” model it’s a sure sign that a owner no longer wants to or came invest.
The sooner they go the better we are still a Premier League Club ……..for now.
And sell to who ? That bloke down the Albion? Blues ? Cardiff ? Perhaps Clint Eastwood will buy us and spend £600 billion on players. Build a new ground. Yep that would be it.
And I predicted that you would remain anonymous as you don’t have the strength of character to deal with issues unless behind a mask. Sad really.
Ok smart arse you reveal your full name and I’ll do the same…….
All bloggers use a spoof name….so you telling me your real name is Brompton Wolf.
Grow up…!
Obviously new to the blog. I am known on here as Brompton Wolf. I have met a number of bloggers who all know me as Steve Biles. Apart from the odd “joke” handle I come on here and post, knowing that most know who I am.
Who knows you on here?
I’m quite glad that I couldn’t access the article. How can you be 40 billion in debt ?
Who do they owe it to ? Pity we didn’t win anything when we were in clover eh !.
I’ve been reading such articles for a good while. Fosun have assets of 80 billion, but they have a short term liquidity problem over the next year. They haven’t enough free cash to repay bonds maturing within 12 months. I think an investor can buy those bonds for 50% of maturity value, therefore indicating ‘junk’ status. But, Fosun aren’t the only business in such trouble, and should be able to weather the storm. However if China invaded Taiwan, all bets are off . Chinese billionaires might have UK assets frozen. Either way, Wolves could be sold for fair value, not a fire-sale. But, at about £400mil for Wolves, it would hardly put a dent in debts of 40 billion. As I keep saying, that’s a fraction of what the Yanks were competing to pay for Chelsea.
Realistically, we can only dabble in the current transfer window, and hope for a solution in the first half of the season. Then, either Fosun may have sorted themselves out, or new owners may be in place. That would work well for the January transfer window.
BTW, whoever posted that nasty link to attack Clive should be banished from this site.
LWL, if you Google search “ are fosun in financial trouble “ you should see towards the top of the search results an article headed “ China’s self styled warren buffett…” from ft.com. Click on that and you should be able to read full article and you will see the full picture of their financial challenge.
Express and star have confirmed Fosun in £40 Billion debt they are saying it won’t affect wolves because we are self financing which means no more investment from Jeff and Co:
Cause it effects Wolves we have to sell to buy.
I call on all Wolves fans to get Fosun to sell up.
The dream is over….!
And new owners are always brilliant, of course, as our recent history, pre Fosun, exemplifies..
Agree, we need to be careful what we wish for (eg. Mike Ashley) but you have to admit it’s far from a great situation for us to be in – again!!!
Most companies borrow money to buy things. Is this really unusual?
What is their net values?
Well, if Fosun have 80 billion assets and 40 billion debt, it may be that they are worth 40 billion nett. Historically though, when huge businesses go down. it’s usually for cash flow reasons. Cash flow is Fosun’s Achilles heel right now.
What’s surprised me is this is massive news and the Express star have buried in in the Trinco article.
WHY this is a huge story.
Happy Fourth of July to all fellow bloggers!
So, Ronnie supposedly wants away from OT, well who wouldn’t, and is in talks with Chelsea and his agent, our very own best friend, Mendes.
I understood that Chelsea cannot sign anyone at the mo, so could want away CR 7 be planning a subterfuge move to join his mate, Moutinho, who has just signed on for another year at the Mol?
At least we would be further up the MotD pecking order!
Thoughts?
Wants to leave MU cos wants to play CL so probably not coming to the Mol
Utter tosh Clive.
Well. Here we are . The most successful Wolves side for 50 odd years. Thanks to Fosun. And this is how you repay them. Save your comments until 2nd september.
It’s dead funny. MGW was completely useless. Now he is Lionel Messi. Jota couldn’t get in Nuno’s side but as soon as it’s time to throw the toys out of the pram he was the saviour. Everyone hated Thelwell but now he is the best thing since sliced bread. Suddenly Dalyrymple is some sort of aggreived figure when no one really cared during the ‘good’ days of 2019. Waaa waaa waaa.
Not sure where you are reading stuff like that about MGW
cheese but, there again, I no longer read the Beano.
Well said Ped; not aware of anyone who thinks he could lace Messi’s boots.
They were not hiired for their expertise they were hired because they were gullible they were kept on the dark and fed on bullshit until one by one they realised that Jeff and Fosun were full of shit.
Best wishes and good luck to Nuno with his new club in Saudi Arabia.
Hear hear Ian. I rated that guy highly. Best football I ever saw Wolves play was under his management. My opinion I know but I personally have not seen us play better under anyone else.
That win in our first PL season against Leicester blew me away. Didn’t Jota get a hat trick? The way we absorbed Leicester’s attacks and then counterattacked at speed was sublime. Nuno was at his best then in such matches. We have never played better. Mind you, Jota was probably secretly targeted by Klopp as a result, but officially ‘unplayable’ Traore was the Liverpool target!

Oops I said that twice. Oops I said that twice.
It’s not an echo,
I’m just looking ahead …tunnel vision!
I have no idea what the situation is with dear Fosun( nor has anyone else)
I note we have still eight (8) weeks of transfer window left in which to
1 Re- sign
(Welcome back Mr Moutinho)
2 Sell
3 Buy
Those who we let go are already off to pastures new
Just give me a team in August that plays fast/loose/clever footie and I’ll enjoy …and take my chances along with theirs… just be Wolves please
Stil, can’t resist checking wolves news now however
But hey why would the powers that be leak what they really plan to do?
OODCL
Maybe a couple of loans?!
They will leak what they are planning to do so Wolves supporters and other Premier League teams will have a heads up.
Express and Star reported not expecting and new arrivals this summer.
Looks like Bruno will be Fosun fall guy but if true if Jeff and Co: don’t invest this window and we are in a relegation battle I know who I’ll be pointing the finger at and it won’t be Bruno.
They have shafted him since day one.
Confirmed today that Fabio Silva is going to Anderlecht on a season’s loan, without the option to buy. Sounds like they’ve acknowledged the mistake in buying the Boy Wonder in the first place. If only we could return him and get our money back! Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel, in that one day Silva might break through.
With all these departure, it cannot be true that we are not signing anyone, unless we are transferring to a five-a-side league!
Well I suppose even Fabio was better than nothing !
Surely we must be bringing someone in.?
At least weve lost his wages for a while more dosh for jeffs record company or some other barmy scheme he’s thought up
I wish him well he is a tryer I will give him that lets hope he clicks in Belgium.
Yes he’s certainly a trier and we all like that in a player. What he lacks is a yard of pace and that bit of devilment to win duels and shrug off defenders? He could learn a lot from Diego Costa or SEB on that front. Hope he does succeed because he seems to be a lovely lad and that may justvbe what holds him back from being Raul’s successor.
Loan to buy is most likely hoping that fosun turnaround their debt, or we get something in for our “want aways”
Thomas, I’m puzzled by the new line that says ‘Like Button Notice (view)’
All previous likes/dislikes have disappeared. Clicking on this line brings up an invite to upgrade your website plan. Your plan or mine? I don’t understand. This is more baffling than Wolves ‘ transfer strategy.
DWW I was going to like your comment but I don’t know how to either.
I’m glad you said that DWW, I’m also completely baffled by the Like Button Notice.
I’m reluctant to download anything these days… and there are so many posts I wanted to give an uptick to, forgetting the trolling bits, that is…
It will be interesting to see what happens in today’s game with Burnley, not that friendlies tell us much.
Unfortunately my bet at the bookies is now null and void due to Boris’s resignation. I had backed him to have more people left in his cabinet than our first team squad for the start of the season. Even with mass resignations I’ve been looking quids in until this morning.
Boris’s cabinet is emptier than the Baggies’ trophy cabinet. And ours too…
Boris’s cabinet is emptier than the Baggies’ trophy cabinet. And ours too..
So Jeff’s Golden boy is off to Belgium off all places really competitive League the Belgium League……not why not the Championship does Jeff think he couldn’t cope he might get a bit roughed up……..that’s what he needs not a League that’s not even on a par with League Two.
But as usual Jeff knows best.
Well, I wouldn’t bet against Anderlecht, Gent, Brugge, Genk, Charleroi,Antwerp etc doing rather well in League 2.
Morgan Gibbs white went to the Championship and is now worth £30 million Silva gone to Belguim worth £35 according to Jeff……which player do you think has is worth the most.
Do you think if Gibbs White had gone to Belguim he’d be worth £30 million and have server always clubs chasing his signature…..answers on a postcode.
Forget us, the fans, in case of bias, but if we asked every football journalist for their opinion on value of MGW compared to Fabio Silva, what do you think the result would be?
I think 9 out of 10 would rate MGW considerably higher. The odd one would probably have been nobbled by Jeff…
Woof,
Silva has untapped talent that in the position he finds himself is impossible to see.
Everything about the deal to buy him was wrong and is putting immense pressure on him at a time in his career that he should be flying.
MGW is a point in question….no price tag over him, fans underwhelmed, moves on loan and hey presto, suddenly he’s the next big thing at Wolves.
The potential in both of them is exciting but stop piling more pressure on them by posting stuff that is beyond negative that the lads Will read eventually.
Just saying
New away kit……which isn’t bad but the same old faces wearing it. Our most expensive signing ever has been farmed out to a nice cosy League where he won’t get roughed up in the hope he will score shed loads.
Even if he does every person who has ever watched a football match will say yeah that’s great but could he cut it in the Championship like Jota, Neves and many others did we will never know now.
If Silva had gone to a Championship club like Gibbs White and cut it then like Gibbs White people would sit up and take notice…….because of where Jeff has sent him even if he is a hit people will still question his ability to do it on the big stage.
By sending him to Belgium Jeff has done the lad no favours, that nagging question will always be hanging over his head.
You know naff all about the Belgian league.
And if you think MGW is worth £30m you need to give up on the Sun/Beano or whatever comic you read.
I know the top Belgium teams would find the Championship hard going.
Did I say he was worth £30 million I said that’s what he has been valued at.
I think you need to go to Specsavers.
Who was that left wingback of ours who was great in the Championship? Barry? How many offers has he had to play in the Premier League?
Chiquinho out for 6 months with a long term ACL. Wow! What more is going to go wrong with our small squad!!
Feel desperately sorry for chiquinho. He was one of the few bright lights in the very poor end to our season. Injuries, suspensions, loss of form are all part of football however. Makes our failure to address our threadbare squad, let alone strengthen it , all the more depressing. We will reap what we sow.
Heard that we just turned down £25mil from Everton for MGW. To me, this makes good sense. Bruno sees MGW as a vital part of the jigsaw this season. Mind you, Everton might bid again, and other clubs might counterbid. As much as our squad is threadbare, it’s of high quality and has a strong core. Traore will probably be needed with Chiquinho out, unless we try and replace Chiquinho.
I read that Man U paid £37 mil for a young winger a couple of years ago. Ferdinand called him the ‘new Ronaldo’. Well, that new Ronaldo spent spent last season on loan at Rangers after getting nowhere at Man U. I couldn’t help but think of Fabio Silva. There have been rash buys everywhere, and not just at Wolves, but it hurts us more.
I don’t know what constitutes fair value in today’s crazy world of football DWW but I think MGW should be given his chance
With an extended run in our team. He has proven himself more than capable in the championship and surely the whole point of sending ” ones for the future ” out on loan is to do just that. If we sell players like this as soon as they return it just confirms what many suspect of Fosun I.e they are more interested in player trading than strategic development of the first team
The Donck thinks Morgan Gibbs White isn’t worth £30 million well according to most pundits and Frank Lampard he is because he’s bid close to that.
But the Donck like Jeff knows better.
And how do you know what the bids, if any, are Wolfe? If any bids have been made then they are likely to be appearance based etc . Personally, I’d snap anyone’s hands off if a bid of £20m came in and agree with the Donck that £30m is cloud cuckoo land.
How do I know……. because I read the reports……you want to try it.
And yeah I don’t think he is worth £30million but if someone like Frank Lampard believes he is then I respect his opinion don’t agree with it but I respect it the guy has played the game at the highest level…….have you….
?
Without wishing to get involved in this debate, do you really believe everything you read, Wolfie? By the way, do you know that the word gullible has officially been removed from the Oxford English dictionary?
And where has Frank said he’s worth £30m? Ah, you read it somewhere. Must be true then.
What has playing at the highest level got to do with it? Maradona played at the very highest level so you must have really respected his opinions.
Fuck me get over self …..he said she said.
It was Liam Kean who reported with add on Everyone’s nod was £30 Million.
And what the fuck has Madonna got to do with it ……joke
Really……..
get over yourself
Clueless or brainless? Probably both.
Talk is cheap. Let’s see what MGW sells for – if he goes this window.
Anybody watch the Lionesses thrash Norway tonight?
What a great performance.
So we have spent 21M on a defender Collins from Burnley. While he could be regarded as a replacement for Saiss, it will be interesting to see if we play with two at the back or keep a back three. Cody, Boly, Killman, Collins, Toti and Mosq. Perhaps one of them will be sold or loaned out. To spend 21M on a player with our limited funds, we assume they would want to play him right away. We cannot afford to spend that amount of money for “one for the future” Not now!
Notwithstanding that there is a long time yet in the window, we struggled to score goals last season and some games were painful to watch, so let us hope this is just the beginning!
I would put money on two of the above six not making many starts next season, one of them being a scouser.
