I was right to fear the worst when I saw the line-up.

Wolves were lethargic, disjointed, and barely laid a glove on West Ham. A lot of momentum has been lost in the last three days.
Bruno is of course privy to who need needs a rest and who doesn’t, but trying to stay in the game until the hour mark, to then unload your bench, felt like a risky and negative approach.
Wolves played at a snail’s pace which encouraged the West Ham press, resulting in us knocking it long and fending off endless waves of attack.
It was so frustrating to watch West Ham turn us and play through our midfield at will, while we struggled to get out of our own defensive third with painfully slow passing and movement.
Wolves never looked like scoring even when West Ham sat back after going ahead. It’s hardly a surprise when we were playing like strangers.
Marcal looked limited, Hoever was naïve both defensively and going forward, Trincao was completely anonymous, and while Silva has improved, he’s still lacking in strength, knowhow and confidence. Let’s hope today’s showing put to bed the ridiculous social media clamour for Silva to start instead of Raul.
And Donk’s days in the Wolves engine room must surely be numbered too. How is Neves meant to go about his business of dictating a game when his midfield partner continually gives the ball away or just passes it backwards? It’s plain to see that Wolves are lacking a physical yet technical midfielder to let Neves go about his work.
A top six place is still achievable but if Bruno sticks with trying to replicate the latter Nuno era – sitting back, offering little creativity and showing no sign of carving out clearcut chances or goals – then our hopes will soon be extinguished.
Frustratingly disjointed today. Few positives tto take from today. Sad to say, some of our 2nd tier players are not up to the task.
Thought Wet Spam were poor too.
Tis done, let’s move on.
I agree let’s move on. Our next four games are much easier than the last three, so here’s hoping we can turn this around. The only positive for me today was seeing Neto come on again. He can’t be too far away from starting a game.
This manager is certainly no better than Nuno.
Until we can get the special one we will win nothing !
Very poor . It is all far too slow and negative . Neto shows the way by taking the ball and running at defenders .
We will however not realistically challenge the top 6 with such a poor goal scoring record . You simple cannot rely on a clean sheet every week .
I will be happy never to see Trincao in a Wolves shirt again . The man is hopeless and I am doubtful he has ever had a shit on target in his Wolves career .
The next few games should give us points but losing two six pointers in 3 days makes any European place a very big ask .
Trincao misses the bog every time. I reckon he drinks in Wetherspoons up town cos someone manages to pebble dash the seat every week.
A what on target?
Marcal and Hoever are nowhere near good enough as attacking wing backs.
For all their shortcomings (and these are reducing match by match), Ait-Nouri and Semedo are quick and come forward with skill and intent.
The final ball leaves a lot to be desired but they are improving fast.
Why Bruno started a game that was winnable, due to West Ham’s poor form and low confidence, with half a reserve team, is beyond me.
We were poor and looked lethargic.
Dendoncker gave the ball away on an all to regular basis.
Even our defence looked all over the place at times.
The plus points were:- Kilman still looked good apart from a slightly dodgy first 15 minutes. Ruben Neves ruled midfield in the second half. Silva started to look a bit like a striker the more the game went on.
But overall, a hugely disappointing performance, in a game that could have seen us leapfrog The Hammers.
Champions League for either of these teams?
I don’t think so.
Thinking about the make up of our teams am I alone is suspecting considerable bias Towards Portuguese players ?
When we thrashed Spurs we played three in midfield, Nevez, Cundle and Dendonker. It worked great. Cundle did nothing wrong and was in fact impressive. So why bring in the useless Trincao today and leave Cundle out ?
Similarly during January we brought back Ryan Giles, but he never got a chance. In my view he`s every bit as good as Trincao
Then what about Sanderson. Though highly regarded, he also was never given a chance, Rather we played the Portuguese Gomez
Are Cundle and Sanderson not considered good enough just because they`re only home grown Brits ?
Just a thought.
Giles can’t even get in Blackburn’s team, Mike.
Not the point Trincao wouldn’t get in the Blackburn team either
Of course it’s the point. We want players that will improve the team not just make up the numbers.
I`m a big Bruno fan, He has achieved results well above expectation. But today, he got is all.
Just who did he expect to score ? Then with Podens left out, who was going to provide inspirational support ?
To include both Trincao and Silva individually in any starting line up, would be an impeding disaster in itself. To start them both was suicidal. Trincao is simply an unaffordable luxury, who offers little, and is unwilling to work. There are noises that Siva is improving. Maybe so, Now he has improved to slightly better than useless, but remains light years away from being a Premier league striker. Raul may well be out of form, and needing a rest, but we would be better served if he played with his foot in a cast rather than Silva.
In summary we were poor. We deserved what we got. Nothing. We can only hope that Bruno learns from todays cock -ups
‘….slightly better then useless’
You’ve got to feel for the lad. Alice in blunderland. He had a game v. Saints? Forgotten already. When Spam saw the teamsheet Dawson’s like ‘We got this, they’ve put Fabio up front.’
Agree Mike. I’m a big fan of Bruno too, but he really messed up on this one. The starting selection was dire and I knew we couldn’t win as soon as I read it.
Bruno will win nothing
Assume he talks a good game at interview. ‘More attacking football – with more goals I remember ?
any better than what Nuno?
Silva and Bruno are as good at their respective jobs as each other. Both of them will win nothing in their careers.
After a woeful showing from Wolves today the best moment was reading Nick’s typo above. Or was it?
Made me laugh!
Me too Gerry. I thought he must have a messy bathroom.
I would like to claim it was intentional but sadly not although perhaps an accurate reflection of my views on Trincao !
Especially reading it was not on target.
Doesn’t Target play for Vanilla? In which case it was going in the right direction.
He’s taken the blood money at Newcastle now but still deserving.
WELL when the next prediction blog comes along i will wait to see the team sheet before i make a decision because i couldnt believe my eyes when i saw it.
who ever thinks in a million years silva is worthy of even lacing rauls boots is in my opinion raving mad.
THAT was embarrassing having to sit with vile idiots surrounding me after they had managed to ” close the gap” yesterday.
Bruno please are you serious you couldnt pick a better starting eleven than that .
At least we are finding out who we wont be keeping for next season mr trincoa being top of that list i hope.. unfortunately we are stuck with silva…thanks jeff.
As for easier games to come i wouldnt be too sure about that comment the way we have suddenly started playing.
Consistency was becoming our trade mark thats melted away like that smelly candle i bought my wife for christmas.
Bewildered, bemused, confused and completely pissed off !
And if bruno says he was proud of that performance i will start watching rugby .!
That is exactly what I did. After seeing the team sheet my decision was easy.
OK . . . I’ve calmed down.
Trying to second-guess Bruno’s intentions are futile but he must have had his reasons. Hoping for a draw and looking ahead to the run in?
What I find slightly bemusing is that it was only a week ago we were all excited to have almost everyone fit for the first time this season. So how come we fielded a Second XI? Why Dendoncker ahead of Cundle?
What is clear is just how much Semedo contributes so the sooner he’s back the better.
Crystal Palace won’t be the walkover some are anticipating. I just hope someone makes it clear before the kick off which goal we’re attacking.
Just a wild theory, now I have had a beer and moved on from todays farce.
Perhaps now we are technically safe in the greed league, Bruno is trying to make a point to Mr Shi, that our squad maybe small but it lacks the quality in depth to compete.
Just a thought.
Keep the faith.
I hope not Marnhull…
Fans paid a lot of money to watch that crap today….
He or anyone else, shouldn’t play with the hard earned cash spilling out of adoring’ fans pockets…
I know it a conspiracy theory but….
That said the point you make is more than valid..
Very shocking display. But at the start of the season. After 3 games we were on about relegation. So to be on 40 points from 26 games is a massive achievement . We should celebrate a solid Premier league team.
Can’t disagree with any of the comments so far and it remains to be seen whether the evidence of today’s performance by Trincao, Hoever, Silva especially will influence the shopping that needs to be done in the summer.
There are 12 games to go and 36 points to play for, a lot of football to be played yet so although there are no easy games ever, things are still in our hands and there are 7 teams ahead of us, five of which are catchable.
There are also 84 professional teams below us who would bite their own arms off to be 8th in the Premier League, try being a Baggie, a Bluenose or a Walsall fan.
Spot on BG.
We need to breathe in and breathe out.
Wolves are an incredible long way from Terry Connor being thrown under the golden bus.
I’ll always remember Charlton fans shouting for Curbishley to go as they wanted to push on from finishing 6th.
We’ve come a very long way in such a short space of time and need to progress slowly to bre sure of staying in this league.
I Can’t disagree though that we really need to make just a couple of top drawer players this summer as today was an opportunity missed.
‘….push on from 6th.’ Ha Ha.
They did use to fancy themselves as a proper club. They went ballistic when Fosun took over and probably sold us Fabio. That relegation year out of the Championship hit them hard. They were throwing dildo’s on the Valley turf. 1 lv.
‘….push on from finishing 15th in the 3rd division.’
Ha Ha.
Call me an idiot…I think Silva was good today. With Raul struggling, and the amount of chances Silva creates with his movement, I don’t think it’s outrageous to give him a few starts over Raul.
One of our 2-3 best players today.
I agree Al, we can’t blame Fabio when half the team seems to prioritise getting the ball to Jose Sa rather than the three up front.
Of course, that doesn’t mean you’re not an idiot ;0)
You are right mate. I totally agree.
You are an idiot.
Al, you surely can`t be serious. Silva`s not good enough to lace Raul`s boots — and even if he was given this task, his incompetence would probably result in the two boots being tied together !!
Silva is no better than Division 2 standard. He`s part of the squad purely because of the need to justify Shi`s gross cock-up in paying fifteen times his real worth
al i would never call anyone who is obviously raving mad an idiot .
Silva was one of the best players today. You guys just like bitching about a kid.
I missed the first half so can’t comment but he was lively in the second half and got into some good positions. Zouma had a good game and kept him out though. I agree he was one of the better players. He’s a striker though and he needs goals else he will continue to be everyones favourite punchbag.
The good news is that we’ve got to 40 points by the end of February which is some achievement given the size of the squad. However, we can’t rely on just keeping clean sheets and we must improve our creativity and goal scoring. I think we all realise that Raul is jo longer put his head in where it hurts. This means that he will only ever play at somewhere between 75-80% which when he’s on song is good enough. However, when he’ s not at his best we only get around 50% from him, which in the Premiership simply isn’t enough.
Whilst today’s performance was disappointing I thought that Hoever was out of his depth both physically and technically. This makes his part in the Diogo Jota transfer debacle even more gutting. No wonder Klopp is interested in Neto – he probably thinks he can get him in a player exchange for James Milner and £10 million payable in instalments of £100 every time there’s a full moon!
Overall though you have to be happy with how we’ve played so far — just plenty to think about over the next few months.
As stated , you knew we were in trouble as soon as the line up was announced.
This was as big a six pointer as the match we lost on Thursday, made more important by that loss.
Cant believe we didnt play our best team, cant believe we made 5 changes.
Bruno got this one wrong from the off
Went to the game and it was very disappointing. We didn’t turn up really and though westham deserved to win they weren’t that much better and in reality they didn’t need to be. After the arsenal home defeat I felt we looked like a decent mid table pl side and I felt the same today. We have out performed this season so it’s difficult to criticise Bruno or the players. Without European qualification, I think there will be more sales, Neves being the most likely. Whether we use the money wisely or not or indeed whether we use it at all, we will have to wait and see. If we genuinely have the desire to move to the next level, and I’m not sure Fosun are sufficiently committed to achieve that, we must learn from the latest episode of good but not quite good enough and be prepared to sell a number of players to finance our next move, not just pick off the Crown Jewels. We should be moving heaven and earth to keep the best players to build a team around them but by all means be ruthless about the players who really aren’t going to take us anywhere of which I think there are a number from which we could raise decent money/ save considerable wages.
Not suprised at all, all u fans thinking we will get in europe are wrong, we are midtable at the moment, loan player from barca is very poor, silva, marcel, hoover poor, bruno gave fringe players a chance, did not take it, only moan where is luke cundel, next season if we sell reves and poor investment we know fosun have lost intrest, we will finish 8 to 12 better than when i was a kid and watched them in the cow shed, sorry bloggers im very drunk, wolves aie we.
Hello Burnley.
Crucial 6 points gone West.
And the cat’s on double rations to shut him up. What with Mrs Wolf after Thursday night, I’m reaching crises point.
If Spam were any good they’d have put a few more past us. I’m talking Leeds here. Lucky they had an off day too. Conor Coady shooting from 30 yards sums up my frustration at the lack of creativity and his reasoning that there’s no point playing it to anyone else.
That beanpole scoring on his birthday. The Slovenian Crouchy FFS. When is Fabio’s birthday anyway? Where’s the pressure without Moutinho? This could get ugly. Last days of Nuno ugly? Lets hope not.
We’ve got 40 points lets all go on holiday and pretend it will sort itself out in the summer, or just not come back at all. Just go and live in a monestary in Tibet and have Yak butter in your tea.
Neto looks to be on the mend. Nuff said.
1 lv & COYW.
Bruno got this wrong.
Hoever, Silva and most definitely Trincano aren’t good enough in my opinion. Putting them all in the starting line up whilst leaving players like Raul, Podence Moutiniho and Netto on the bench was a huge mistake in such an important game.
Ruddy must be gutted – he usually gets to play when we deliberately put out a weakened team.
Baffling team selection, leaving Podence and Ait Nouri out is mind boggling, their energy and creativity has been key to our better results. Moutinho is understandable, Jiminez could be justified to a degree. Clearly Zouma practising on his cat has had a positive impact on his game cos he was Wham’s best player today and thwarted Silva’s efforts in the second half. Can’t wait for Neto to start, he’ll give us another dimension in attack when fully fit.
So here’s the conundrum that’s been perplexing little ol’ me.
Do we want to qualify for a European spot, whatever the competition may be, and have to watch our guys playing, and sometimes not, twice a week, or do we want to miss out on Europe this season, and hope Fosun don’t sell our prize players, and look at the long term picture?
Our last three performances have not been anywhere near the races, and I fear another meltdown like wot we had at the end of last season.
I would not be bothered if we don’t get into Europe, because I think the powers that be might consider our squad adequate for a punishing campaign, together with cup runs, and not invest, and then we will be banjaxed.
I also think it was a point well made above about Bruno sending a not so subtle message to Jeff that our “stiffs” are not up to it.
And let’s hear it for the brilliant suggestion I heard recently that we do a straight swap, Adama for Trincao!
For those of you who think Fabio ain’t up to snuff, let me present Trincao, a powder puff of a winger, who must be part Italian, as he’s in reverse gear at the first sign of adversity!
Sicknote, (sorry, Marcal,) Hoever and to a large extent Dendoncker are really there to make up the numbers, and I agree that Gomez, Cundle and one or two others should be gradually introduced, to get some experience so next season they can hit the run grounding.
Socks have to be pulled up during this coming week. Palace, Watford, Everton, Leeds, Villa and Newcastle are all beatable, and we should realistically be aiming for 18 points.
However, no game in the Prem is easy, and if our guy’s attitudes are wrong, it could easily turn into a lot less points than that, and then the teeth gnashing will abound!
But I leave y’all with this luvverlee thought,
We don’t have to watch sandwell town every week!
FOwb
My thoughts exactly cloive
Too small a squad, still building and tbh could do without it really.
Could be the very reason west ham have been off the boil of late..
Agreed Clive. European football is the last thing we need next season. To big an overhead and too stressful on the players.
I sincerely hope that Bruno realises how many times I woke my wife up by muttering (rather loudly) about the incompetence of Hoever, Silva, Trincao and Dendonker (in that order).
At last I managed to find one positive aspect about Silva. He Runs A Lot !! Mainly chasing a ball 20 yards away. Reminds me of a dog chasing a passing car!
Even if Bruno started the second tier players because the others were tired, surely bringing all of them on with 30 mins to go would have given us an inkling of a chance. But no – they have only enough energy for 10 mins !
I too am begining to think that we are not destined for Europe this year. Mainly because the message needs to get to Fosun to release some money for some decent players.
Please put Silva, and Hoever in the U23, where they might be helpful to Wolves.
Great summing up by Paddy spot on
Could not believe Bruno’s after match comments “we played well”
Nevez was good in midfield and why could Bruno not have changed it at 1/2 time surely they could have given us 45 mins ?
Does seem churlish to moan about being on 40 points, and 8th. But perhaps it’s the way we play that rankles us fortunate fans.
We’re too passive, sit back far too much, pass back to the keeper ad infinitum . At one point we had the ball near their corner flag yet we passed it back to Sa! The other annoyance is the fancy dan flicks that don’t come off, too many of them and it’s lazy, take the player on, have a shot at goal.
Fabianski didn’t need to wash his kit, he was troubled by one shot on target. Like all fans I was perplexed and not confident given the line up. I also feel Cundle should be given more of a go, I much prefer a three man midfield. It’s defeating the 3 at the back system when you play two wing backs who don’t really attack. You can sympathise with Hoever because he’s just not had enough game time at this level. But Samedo is a big miss, he’s usually a good out ball to give the hard pressed defence a breather.
Like Nuno Bruno can be over cautious, both tactically and with the subs. Neto certainly is a bright spot on the coming horizon, he is up and at em. I hope he can play from the start next game, likewise Jonny. As for Fabio, I thought he did well in the second half and did come close, he was shepherded well by Zouma. Alan Smith praised Silva’s efforts and he knows more than most about strikers. He needs game time, he really does, then it will click.
But yes we’re in a bit of a slough at the moment, let’s hope the team learn from this, and to quote Bruno and the players improve every game to give back to the fans!
I think scapegoating individual players is unhelpful, it’s the way we’re set up to play, the players seem in shackles at times. But we need to stay positive and hope beyond hope that we finally improve to the level where we can thump Palace at home next weekend. After the last two TV watches it will be good to see the team come good in the flesh at Molineux.
One look at the team convinced me we would get nothing from this game. My thoughts were similar to Clive’s comments re Europe. Bruno had given up on the top 6 in order to prevent a rubbish season next year. Or was he sending a message to Jeff? For god’s sahke spend some money in the summer.
Trincao, as usual, played like the proverbial fairy on a gob of lard. Hoever not much better, and Silva poor lad once again looked totally out of his depth.
Ehere do we go from here? God knows, but I do wish Fosun would make a decision to spend some money on the necessary class of talent required to get somewhere near the top 4
I didn’t watch the game but having absorbed Bloggers comments above it seems we are seriously deluded if we still aspire to Europe qualification. On our day we can compete with any team in the League but our small squad is still not fully match fit leaving too many lightweights in the team. Strange how on the day of Semedo’s absence, Matt Doherty has his best game at Spurs with a goal and an assist- his first. Standby for the call to re-sign him!
It is very interesting how Fabio silva appears to have divided opinion not just among bloggers but also a few fans I was chatting to outside the stadium yesterday. I have questioned before why fosun thought it was a priority to spend 35m on an unproven talent but I’m in the “ he is only 19 and is well ahead of where someone like Harry Kane was at that age – give him time” camp ( and that is an objective assessment based on pl game time, goals and asssits at comparable age not a subjective opinion) but clearly others are not. In the context of how wolves performed yesterday and the service he got I thought he did ok and would give him a 6 out of 10 whereas many others would be 4 or 5. We have to bear in mind that in a couple of years time he will be taller, faster and stronger plus he will have a lot of experience under his belt. He may well benefit from a loan to the championship or abroad and extended game time will only help him (witness how he performed against Sheffield Utd in the fa cup). He is a kid trying to find his way in a man’s game and whether he makes it or not, encouragement will only help him.
Stronger surely, faster maybe but taller? He’s 4 months off his 20th birthday so unlikely to grow more. Judging from my assessment of his heading ability I can’t see that a growth spurt to morph into Crouchy would help too much.
Here’s a thought. Why dont we bring back Morgan Gibbs-White with a swap for Fabio in his place. I agree, Fabio needs game time, and he is not going to get it in the first team. That will give him some time to grow and show whether he has that true potential.
MGW has done quite well for himself this season at Sheffield – could be a better asset in the first team than some others that have been mentioned above.
Sadly this looked like a Nuno-era game when we were playing badly. (This is not to forget the splendid highs of Nuno’s reign). Against probably the most-limited top six contender in West Ham, we looked poor. Maybe two big away games in four days were too much for us. We started nicely passing the ball around, but as the game wore on we gradually lost what initiative we had. We had chances, but ultimately I don’t think the West Ham keeper had a save to make. In the second half, we had an attacking throw in near the corner flag and I couldn’t believe it when we conspired to pass the ball back to our keeper from such an advanced position.
For me the biggest disappointment was Fabio Silva. Centre forwards don’t come any softer than him. Sure, in midfield he was confident enough in his passing, but at the business end of the pitch (i.e. the opposing goal), where was he? One golden opportunity in the first half saw the ball cleared from under him by Zouma. Zouma went down apparently in pain, and Silva was all over him, concerned for his welfare. Very friendly and caring, but this was Zouma the effing cat-kicker! If it was Roy Keane, he would have stamped on the bastard! OK, I exaggerate, but my point is that a centre forward should be a mean son-of -bitch. Instead, Silva was running around like an excited puppy, but then blinked in the big opportunities. Another golden opportunity for Silva in the first half saw him run clear on goal in the penalty box, but he didn’t know where the ball was (it was above his head).
OK, it was only 1-0 but that scoreline flattered us.
Gary lineker was never booked in a career of 330 goals at the highest level. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Ask kurt zouma.
I’ll forgive Silva if he can achieve even half of Gary Lineker’s goal rate. Failing that, I want him to man up in front of goal.
Gary Lineker is a big eared, big mouthed little twat.
That didn’t hinder his goalscoring ability though.
Wifey- “ you staying up to watch the football?
Me – “ of course, but we are going to lose”
Wifey” don’t be so bloody negative “
I’m not negative, but sometimes you just know dontcha.
I think I’m slowly drifting to the dark side, not Sandwell of course , but my outlook is just starting to change and I’m not sure if it’s a good or bad thing?
For years I’ve Been in the camp of , this is the best we have had it, and it is, well , in my lifetime it’s not been this good since 1980 ,but,,,,,
Lately, I’ve found myself getting more and more pissed off when we get so close and then lose to a bunch of really annoying self important twots from arsenal, or risk changing half the team for a massive game against west ham( which is ok to try until halftime) but wait until we are losing before bringing the first team on.
I’ll eat humble pie until it comes out of my ear if we win the next couple of games of course, but last night was tough to watch.
I want it now
I want it now
Don’t tell my that my ship is coming in
Nothing comes to those who wait
But times running out the door your running in

Infantino , the president of the disgustingly corrupt FIFA must have had his order of friendship medal that he received from his mate ‘Putin’ in his back pocket when he suggested,
Russia should not call themselves‘Russia’ and should play the remainder of their World Cup qualifiers at neutral grounds??
Cos that’s gonna hurt big time?
Seriously, what planet do these people live in! And who would like to host such games ,,
Sorry, not wolves I know,
Must be all the Russia saturated news atm and Abramovich stuff
Utw
I suspect there’s a lot more than POOtin’s medal in his back pocket mate.
There’s corrupt… there’s bloody corrupt… and there’s FIFA.
OH, and there’s VAR. Nearly forgot that.
Haven’t shouted at the TV so badly since late last season but, come on lads , that was crap.
I know I know I could be a Shaktar fan or support Dinamo Kiev and I’m so glad I’m not … but I really think we could get and deserve to get 6th this season . And like it or not being in European competition is a recruitment and retention factor.
So let’s play our strongest side and try being more adventurous… because that Sunday style is guaranteed to yield only one outcome ie me shouting at the TV
I think Jota is better because he plays alongside Mane and Salah et al… Fabio would score too in that company… asking him to run after the ball like a willing puppy ? Never going to work.
I’ll save you the rest of my rants… and yes we could win the next 6 games… but only if we want to
UTW
This one’s on Bruno. Say what you like about fatigue, did we really need to make all those changes? Ait-Nouri and Podence were particularly baffling. Seeing the way Podence scampers around the pitch, it’s hard to believe he was not bang up for it. And Neto and Jimenez could surely have been introduced earlier. Hoever, too, looks far from Premier League standard.
Sure, West Ham had something to cling onto but it was clear once those attacking changes were made we looked much more of a threat but it was too little, too late. Not sure how on earth Bruno expected us to compete with a big, strong West Ham side with a powder puff attack. I despaired as we continually kicked it long only to see it inevitably come straight back. Raul has been poor lately but his hold up play is still brilliant. Trincao would seemingly be blown over by a light breeze while Fabio, for all the effort and willingness, didn’t cut it either.
Really disappointing and feels like an opportunity missed. For all that I thought we were unlucky to lose in the manner we did at Arsenal, despite being second best, this was barely a contest for large parts. And the shameful thing about that is West Ham weren’t particularly good, they just did enough to get the job done.
Not seen the game yet as I was otherwise engaged yesterday but I understand it was pretty poor to put it mildly.
Much criticism again levelled at Fabio Silva and no I’m not convinced either but we’re never going to know until he has a fair run in the team. Sad to say, but I think it’s pretty clear that Raul, while still a class act, is unlikely to be the player he was other than in flashes. Is Jeff Shi afraid that he has made another mistake with Silva after the catastrophic Cuitrone? £50 million + for the two of them is a lot of dosh and I believe both down to Jeff not Nuno.
We’re not going to make the top 4. We don’t currently have a squad big enough (or good enough) to battle through Thursday night after Thursday night in the Europa League or whatever the current version is. And with Neto and Hwang now fit surely we need to take a good look at the attacking options we do have before the summer. Give Fabio a run in the team Bruno, we have £35 million invested in his future. I think it’s make or break time. Also not sure Trincao is an answer to our prayers either. Big summer ahead if we’re not going to stagnate or worse, because a goal a game isn’t going to cut it for much longer.
Meant to be a fresh post, sorry Rich.
I’ve read every post I’ve watched the game twice (hard as it was)and ive come to the conclusion Bruno doesn’t want European football ….just yet
We aren’t ready and wont be for at least another season under his leadership.
Also jeff needs a very subtle reminder that our strength in depth which is needed for a European campaign simply isn’t up to it.
Get your wallet out jeff and make sure there’s plenty in it come June.
But we have another season in the greed league and all that matters now is we finish well above the vile.
Have finally caught up on the highlights and listened to the pundits on MOTD2 after enduring R5 commentary during the game.
It felt like a game neither side wanted to lose and pundits suggested Moyes set up West Ham to nullify our attacking options whilst I always thought we would aim to defend for 60 minutes and then aim to nick a winner in the last 30 minutes but Saiss switched off for the Soucek goal and we were left chasing the game.
2 games in london has left us with no points when with a bit of luck it could at least have been 2 (5+mins extra time at Emirates / a paltry 3 mins at West Ham)
Whilst these games are viewed by many as 6 pointers there is still a long way to go and we are now firmly underdogs again. Many of our rivals for europe have to play each other as well as Liverpool and Man city so points will inevitably be shared around.
The major positive is the return of Neto will add much needed zip and guile to the attack and at least we have 6 days to recover both plysically and mentally from a tough few days in the capital. Onwards and upwards
Would love Swansea’s No 13 to score a winner tonight. Would be the perfect result.

Whatever the outcome of the remainder of the season, one of our Summer priorities has to be a striker to support Raúl, until he’s fully-up to speed.
