That’s the most frustrated I’ve felt after a match under Bruno.

Burnley are well drilled by Dyche but Wolves’ slow build-up play, poor output from the wing backs and dearth of quality in the final third was excruciating to witness.
The inevitably of a goalless draw for much of the contest rather sums up why Wolves have only scored 12 goals in 14 league games. Two attempts on target tonight from 16 shots is a similarly painful stat.
We’re at our best under Bruno when the ball is moved quickly and Raul, Hwang, Podence and to a certain extent Trincao are operating between the lines and on the ‘inside’.
So, Bruno’s pre-match comments about this being the perfect match for Traore were baffling. There was no space for Traore to operate and even when he did move into dangerous positions he unsurprisingly fluffed his lines. Adama will never fit into the intricate style Bruno is building.
Traore’s inclusion also meant a heavy reliance on us playing it out wide. It just doesn’t work. Ait-Nouri and Semedo continually cut back on themselves, either giving it away or producing woeful deliveries.
Wolves looked at their best when Hwang was getting on the ball between the lines at times in the second half.
But Moutinho needed a major helping hand from Neves to ensure the endless amounts of possession resulted in a constant supply line of pinpoint passes into both feet and space. Poor Joao had a thankless task of running the midfield alongside a running-through-treacle Dendoncker.
We’ll be ok this season and more than likely finish midtable. It’s just a shame that Fosun don’t recognise what Bruno could achieve at this club if provided with the proper tools to form a top-quality squad.
Yep no good really
Traore shoots when he should pass and passes when he should shoot
Lofted crosses into
The box are meat and drink fir a PL defence
Still want him to start Saturday
Need Podence Neves and Neto to provide more ammo fir Raul
Hopefully they will soon be on the team sheet together
OODCL
Wholeheartedly agree Paddy. The word baffling was also going through my mind at the end of the game. I couldn’t understand why Bruno left it until the 84th minute to make his first substitution when the 11 on the pitch had clearly run out of ideas. I also find it baffling that Fosun with their purported ambition for the club can engineer a situation where we can’t even fulfil our 9 sub quota for a PL fixture and the 8 we did name comprised 2 goalkeepers and 2 kids who are still some distance from being proper PL squad players. However, I think this is quite a baffling season in many respects as well. I can’t figure out how we are 6th but outside of the top 3 who are clearly operating at a different level I really don’t think there is much to choose between the majority of the other 17 teams. All in all, given the constraints Bruno is operating under I think he has done pretty well so far as have the team
I think the answer to your substitution question is obvious Sutton. There was. no one on the bench who could improve what was on the pitch.
Part of the reason is that although Nuno did some great things for the club his insistence on a ludicrously small squad has left its legacy .
I think Fosun are intent from a business point of view to keep the finances decent this season whilst staying in the PL .I think this is the extent of their ambition this season .
Whether they will invest more in January or the summer remains to be seen but my guess is they are not allowed by the Party to take more money from China to invest .Thus the self sustaining mantra we have heard a few times .
If they are under financial constraints, then maybe they should sell Wolves!
Only 8 subs on bench most of them acadamy players who have never stepped foot on the pitch in a Premier League game, sums up the lack of investment in the last 2 seasons agree with Paddy just think where we would be if FOSUN backed Bruno.
lol – Neves, Jonny, Neto, Boly, Podence, Mosquera, Marcal all out…. Yes yes lack of investment!
Neves and Podence yes and if Neto and Jonny, and the lad from Columbia come back the same players which is always 50 50 with bad injuries then the squad will look better……..but still to small…….. Bruno’s words not just mine and also can this squad fit into his way of playing…. It doesn’t look like all of them can or are willing to.
Dead wood Dendonker, .
Boly and Marcel spend more time on the treatment table than the pitch.
Trico flatters to deceive to lightweight for Premier League.
Saise average at best.
Good to have you back Paul
Really, Saiss average, all our defence have been excellent and are the main reason we are 6th.
Only teams with a better defence is Liverpool and Chelsea. Lol. Its the other end of the pitch!
Raul cannot be our only option every game. When Neto is back I think we will be flying!
I would echo Paddy’s last paragraph. We are a much more attacking team under Lage, and at times some of the football is great to watch (unfortunately not last night though), and this has been achieved with maintaining a good defensive record.
Our current league position probably flatters us a little as we have had a kind fixture list so far, but with a tough month to come by the time we have played everybody once I guess we’ll be closer to mid-table, which is a fairer reflection of our inconsistent performances to date.
If Lage is backed in the transfer market to bring in the players to suit his philosophy and playing style, I see no reason why we can’t be pushing for European football again.
While we are doing the tactical analysis bit , here’s a couple of points
1 burnley are really really crap and hopefully will get relegated this season
2 I really really don’t like burnley
Utw
Burnley are the best Sunday league team in the country. I would hate to have to watch that week in, week out. Literally Kick and chase. Any of them got the ball behind the half way line and WOOOMPHHH its gone – Now Chase!!!
Their style seems always to work against us
Bring on Liverpool.
Oh, and yeah he should have passed.
See a few of you on Saturday .
Disappointing result.
Points to ponder
1. One dimensional Tarore never looks for a pass on a breakaway– a very simple pass to Raul and we would be one up. (Yet again)
2. Solid defense but limited attack — maybe Bruno should look at our first 3 games to up our attacking tempo. Football is about the joy of goals and we are not even one a game.
3. Subs are too late. If Bruno persevered with an unchanged team in December, by Christmas day we would not even be able to walk much less compete.
4. Maybe the “Wait until the heart of winter and see how those Portuguese fellows play in the freezing cold” may have merit.
5. Playing two teams in the bottom 3 and only getting 2 points is very dissapointing.
6. Moutiuno is approaching almost 36 years old and playing almost every minute of every game is unsustainable. Over the next 6 games will be impossible for him.
7. Sorry just venting at a disappointing result
By mid January, we will likely be mid table somewhere, probably where we probably belong with our small squad. However after the top 5 or 6 teams, I do believe we would be contender for best of the rest, so who knows?
Life goes on!
GLASS HALF FULL: We only need 6 wins from 24 and we go in to a 5th consecutive season in the top flight. GLASS HALF EMPTY: Apart from West Ham at home we haven’t scored a goal in nearly 7 hours of football. We need to start finding the net because i can’t see us keeping out Liverpool Man City Chelsea . Couple of new signings? Come on Jeff. Get the cheque book out. Bruno says he needs 2 or 3 more.
CoD
To a point you are correct to see avoiding relegation as priority number one. It’s been ingrained in our DNA for 40 years.
But why set the bar so low?
Despite our 30 odd years in the wilderness Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club has a right to be consistently competing in the top half of the PL, I know history counts for little but we draw support from all over the Midlands and have a global following far superior to any of our local rivals including the one time European Cup Winners from Witton.
Apart from currently]y MCFC, MUFC, Chelsea and Liverpool we have the potential to be as big as any club in the country and more so if Fosun are prepared to up their game and come up with the backing-they originally touted.
So come on Cheeseburger – glass half full is top 10. glass full is top 6 at least. That was allegedly why Fosun bought Wolves in the first place.
Accepted PJB but like you say the years of us f**kin it up are well ingrained. So i always look to 40 points to start with. Current trajectory indicates we get there around 26/27 games which would be a great achievement. Then it is a matter of accumulating as many points as possible. It would only take some meaningful investment to turn us in to a ‘top six’ side?
Yep, my calculator is almost set by default at 40/38Xn. Would love to see 7th again this season though- that’s well half full!
Wolves may be at their best when playing between the lines and on the inside but even if they play up and down the lines and on the outside, the enigma that is Traore remains constant.
For me he is still one of the few players that I would happily pay to watch and last night we saw glimpses of why Klopp labels him unplayable at times. I can recall Ron Saunders saying that Bully would never make it because his first touch wasn’t good enough. Graham Turner and is team worked tirelessly on his close control and with a huge amount of natural ability turned Bully into one of the most feared strikers in the league. Surely some coach somewhere ( Bruno hopefully) can and wants to harness Traore’s immense natural ability with an improved end product. What is certain is that he won’t do anything if he doesn’t play and play regularly.
If Paddy is right and Traore will never fit into Wolves style of play, then he needs to go. I would still be sorry to see him leave.
If I find anything baffling about our current squad, it is why we see a lightning fast left wing back with the best cross/ assist stats in the entire football league plying his trade at Cardiff and a young midfielder hard- nosed Blades fans call “different gravy” ruling the roost at Bramall Lane.
I would love to see Giles get his chance over a raw Ait-Nouri and MGW given the chance to fulfil his potential at the expense of an ineffective Dendonker.
Whatever, twenty one points at this stage of the season I would take any day of the week. I just hope that we can at least score against Liverpool!
While you can’t be chuffed with a 0-0 at home with workman like Burnley, you have got to be more than pleased with the defence, our points total and league position.
Kilman yet again played very well he grows in stature with every game, he can now add Chris Woods to Antonio as big CF’s he has had for dinner. But all the defence were good, Sa clearly gives the back three an extra shot of confidence with his distribution and his anticipation of danger, thus far one hell of a keeper.
Traore is unique but even his explosive talents need regular game time & the confidence boost of a goal. Keep playing him and he should produce. Kilman is a case in point if you have the talent you need the game time to prove it in the best league on the planet. Kilman has proved his value and now looks an accomplished top flight defender, last season he warmed the bench.
But for me we really do need to play 3 midfielders and go just two up top, at least as an alternative, to our best, in Bruno’s & Nuno’s eyes, formation.
I didn’t think Dendoncker was running through treacle, I thought he played very well, and for me should be in a midfield three with Neves and Moutinho, even just for a few games. See if it makes a difference to the goals for column.
That would limit Traore’s game time because Hwang looks the best bet to partner Raul.
But picking the optimum 11 is a tough job! Yes frustration about the result and scarcity of squad players. But who’s good that’s available and will come? I can’t think of any Sanchez, Botman I don’t know. Maybe it’ll be time for loanees like Sanderson, the Grasshopper contingent, or an injury free Shabani and/ or Jordao to make a mark.?
And on a 36 or 35 Moutinho, given his performance levels thus far and the way he , terrier like, runs round the pitch giving every ounce of his drive and energy and verve to the cause. Well age is merely a number, in his case, at least!
This is why I like this blog so much. A difference of opinions that can be freely discussed, most of the time.
I thought Paddy got it spot on about Dendonker running through treacle, and I also believe him to not be a strong attacker of the ball. Most times his attempts on goal are far too weak.
I am chuffed with our league position but honestly feel it belies our actual ability, or should I say performance. It is being said that we are a much more attacking force under Bruno. Whilst I agree visually, it is our defensive achievements that are keeping us where we are. We currently have one of the lowest totals of goals scored and one of the lowest totals of goals conceded. So, until we start to score more goals we are unlikely to remain where we are.
Hopefully we can sort out this factor of our game soon.
Good points but I just can’t see the negatives about Dendoncker, but we bring different views and perspectives to the game.
Successful teams need a solid base we have that. Just need to add a bit devilment in attack. Ait- Nouri in the second half had so much space and opportunity to set up a hatful of goals but the wall of Burnley kept us out.
I agree with this in principle.
I mean it is the first thing that the Big teams do. When Klopp went to Liverpool – Defence first priority.
Tuchel to Chealsea – Same thing.
My only issue with this is, we know we have the class.
Raul is the best number 9 in the league.
Hwang Started bright – Trincao is a Barca–future–star. Podence, 18mil from a team in Champions league. Neto (Obviously injured) but one of the top 3 highest rated under 21. Adama… We all know about Adama…
Neves is Neves… Semedo looks promising. Moutiniho is experienced… Ait Nouri has his moments.
So the question must be… where does it fall down? How does it just end in nothing? How do we come away from Norwich and Burnely with 0 – 0 draws… it obviously means our defence is doing its bit.
But its not like we are missing in any part going forward…. It just makes no sense.
I am not blaming the manager or management… but there is something not right and I cannot for the sake of me put a finger on it. Maybe it is down to the individual. I just cant fathom it
I really do think its time to recall our outstanding loanees .
The bench is looking bare and the team needs a shot in the arm.. from somewhere.
Every bluenose is astounded with Sanderson as are the blades lot with Gibbs white and the welsh with Giles and as it happens that’s just the positions we need right now.
Give them their chance Bruno they’ve earned it and we need reinforcements pretty sharpish.
Traore down the middle ? well yes if we play deep and give him the room up front but the bloke really does need to put these one on ones away its getting embarrassing.
The other day I watched bully’s greatest goals perhaps he should take traore for training but I noticed he hit that one early last night so maybe he is giving him some tips keep playing him Bruno he will click……(hopefully) and if nothing else he frightens the crap out of them when he turns on the afterburners.
Burnley subdued Chelsea and that’s no mean feat so I half expected that result.
We could have won it but for the crossbar and probably deserved the points on the night but Burnley are (YAWN) Burnley so lets bury that one and give the scousers a game on Saturday to see where we really are in this league.
Project recall Bruno give the kids a chance.!
Aww well. Positives Chris Wood didn’t score. Watched the Liverpool v Everton match in the pub… That young lad Jota looks useful.
Onwards and upwards. KTF
:-).
Although we have yet to have the Liverpool preview on our beloved blog, I am going to say, here and now, that a lot of Wolves fans are going to be pleasantly surprised on Saturday.
We showed, last night, some neat, intricate, one touch passing moves, despite the anti football, hoof it and hope tactics of the opposition.
Liverpool is not a team of thugs, which is basically what Burnley has become, and will play football, which, I think, will suit us down to the ground.
I also think Trincao will start.
Not because he’s brilliant, but because Bruno will want to keep Kloppie guessing as to when Traore will be let loose.
Which should be never.
Last night I was reminded of the scene in Forrest Gump, when the crowd had to hold up a sign telling him to stop running when he reached then end zone.
Can we get some huge banners made for Traore, with Shoot and Pass written on them, and pray to dog he can read English?
Y’all know my opinion about selling Traore for whatever we can get for him, which should be spent on another striker.
We need competition up front, as well as midfield and at the back, just as Bruno sez.
If he is advocating that in public, I hope like hell he is ramming it down the throats of upper management in private much more forcefully.
And I still detest Shorn Dick with a passion.
If there is one thing we agree on it’s Traore.
I liked your idea to hold up banners, but then I thought – what’s the point he never looks up before he acts.
Contrast Podence’s pass to Raul v West Ham.
A lot of talk about Traore on this and other blogs. In an ideal world I would like him to stay, as despite his shortcomings he is a great player to have as a “wildcard” in the squad and can sometimes produce those moments of magic that light up a game.
Unfortunately, we have been trying to get him to sign a new contract for well over a year now and unless he puts pen to paper sometime soon, we will either have to cash-in in January or next summer (and probably now for less than the £30m Spurs offered in this summer), or he will spend the rest of his Wolves career sitting on the bench before leaving on a free.
In terms of returning loanees, the one player I would love to see given an opportunity and rarely mentioned is Connor Ronan. I think he is an all round midfielder who has done well at every club he’s been sent to, and recently got singled out for praise by Steven Gerrard when playing against Rangers, and he should know a decent midfielder. Okay, it’s a big step to the Premier League but unless we give some of these lads a chance we’ll never know if we have a hidden gem in our hands, much like Kilman who so far must a player of the season contender.
UTW
Other blogs? ? You’ve been done.
The Hammers may come after Kilman. But we’ve got Ki-Jana Hoever up our sleeve from the Jota deal.
They’ll be queing up for Adama after his brace v. ‘Pool. 1 lv.
Firstly I’ll nail my colours to the mast. I’m a huge Traore fan.
I sat last night listening to comments around me insisting Traore is a one trick pony/ lazy / useless etc. etc..
I found it beneath me to point out the obvious which was the reason they were discussing him at all was because of the amount of time he was getting on the ball and how he was continually asking for it.
Frustrating, God yes. When you talk about any other player who’s been out of the team, the comments mostly read “he’s just lacking game time. Give him a few games” Traore seems to being denied that luxury.
I don’t subscribe to the “ he doesn’t fit into Bruno’s system” mantra (Sorry Paddy) If you think last night‘s game was poor, imagine how it would have panned out without Adama and his adrenaline fuelled injections of pace past anyone who happened to to stand in his way.
Play him, persevere with him and we’ll see what we saw two seasons ago. And more.
Can’t stand Sean Dyche but credit where it’s due. He’s found the answer to Traore’s blistering pace.
DON’T FOUL HIM (ironic I know).
Just let him carry on until he cocks it up.
Funny but not factually true. They took a large chunk out of him early on. You can just hear the conversation in the dressing room before kick off…
Prawny, I couldn’t agree more.
He was looking for the ball and finding space a lot more than he usually does. And some of his short passes in midfield were accurate and showed some thought.
He might never translate his potential into the finished article, but, in a generally frustrating performance last night, watching in front of the fire with a brandy in one hand and the PMDG’er in the other, he was the one player that got me off the settee whenever he set off on those runs.
You know they will rarely come to anything but they are bloody exciting to watch.
And perhaps, one day, we might witness another Spurs, or Man City performance.
2 matches in how many?
Time to call time on Traore imo.
Or play him more.
Tragic give up of 4 points in the last 2 games… traore is the most frustrating playing we’ve had..
But you watch him ‘unplayable’ against liverpool when he’s wanting a shop window..(when he comes on that is)
Jotta eat your heart out to be..
This Burnley match gone so predictable and foreseeable..
Maybe when Klopp said Traore is unplayable he meant he wouldn’t play him!? LOL
A frustrating game, for the fans and particularly for Traore.
I held my breath when Hwang reacted to the elbow on him and was perhaps lucky to stay on the pitch. Burnley seemed to be employing the dark arts throughout the match, including a couple of taps on the head late on to rile our South Korean.
Still, a point is a point. Roll on Saturday.
What is a real positive is that at long last our loanee players are making a real impact with their respective clubs. The ones we’ve all mentioned are also performing in tough no nonsense environments and not in the lower reaches of Portuguese football, so as and when they return to Molineux they should be ready for the physicality of the premier league. This is something that Vininha, Trincao and probably Ait-Nouri have struggled with.
Regarding Dendonker, the last time I can recall him making a difference was when he ran the show at Goodison Park 3 or 4 seasons ago. Just like Dele Alli he seems to have gone completely off the boil and given the choice I would like to see MGW given a recall and extended run.
I make no apology for reiterating my longstanding contention,
Reinforcements desperately needed, Just look at last night;s bench.
Squad too small.
Yes it was Burnley and it’s hard, but last night proved again a lack of craft and creativity. Dendoncker partnering Moutinho doesn’t work.
Please don’t cite injured players to return, there will be new injuries.
Spend sensibly in Jan. and recall loanees.
Sanderson and MGW can surely make a contribution.
And we have 3 full internationals out. If Corbeanu, Dashadov and Campana are good enough to play for their countries surely they can do a 10 minute stint as subs for Wolves.
Come on Fosun – show us you at least have some of that intent left that you were proclaiming so loudly 5 years ago.
I’m going to defend Dendoncker as a player who gives 100% to the team and has repeatedly been asked to fill in for other roles, I don’t think folk appreciate how difficult that is whether you are playing in the parks league or the Premier league.
So last night he did the sensible thing and kept possession or passed to Moutinho. However , he’s not the usual guy in that position who can fling passes right and left with exocet precision or allegedly pose a shooting threat. He’s Dendoncker, Belgian international, experienced Euro and World Cup tournament player, be thankful for his versatility in the squad and his attitude.
We are lucky to have Moutinho still lively and competitive at his age, I would like to see him retained on the coaching staff when we eventually sign his successor, he is continually talking to team mates and they need to listen.
As for Traore, nothing more to be said, he was the highlight of a frustrating evening in a very one sided game , also once again Kilman showed his growing maturity by getting Wood subbed off and a scything Fernandinho tackle to stop a breakaway attack. Burnley are a shocking outfit but they do what they have to do and will grind out results against anybody to get to 17th, at the moment we have grounds to look up rather than down. So,
Glass half full, more than half way to 40 points, injured players to come back, team showing a good attitude, hang in there during December and see what January brings. Come on Jeff, give Bruno some tools to do the job you appointed him for.
Totally agree BG. Think you are spot on with your player observations. Yes we were a little too slow at times and yes, it was frustrating that we didn’t shoot sometimes when we found an opening, but was actually pretty impressed with the defence, passing and general sense of team identity playing the Bruno way. You’ve only got to remember the mauling Burnley gave us last year to see actually how well we dealt with the ‘land of the giants’ hoof-ball this time round. Also agree with Clive that Liverpool’s natural open play may unexpectedly just give us some opportunities.
Also loved seeing Wood’s sulk when he got the hook. 🙂
Wouldnt be pursuing Hwang transfer in January TBH.
I’d definitely say that the jury is still out so make the decision at the end of the season.
A really frustrating night when we should really have won 2-0. Traore still my MOTM in spite of that glorious chance crashed against the bar. Why, or why, does he have to use brute force for everything? Sometimes a delicate chip would do, or even just walking the ball around the keeper! God forbid he should actually pass the ball instead. Mind you, even the mighty Chelsea couldn’t bear Burnley at home, so at least that’s a positive.
I agree with the comments on here about late substitutions. Bruno has a poor bench, just there to make up the numbers, so what’s the point? They are just there to cover for a broken leg or something drastic. There was nobody to bring on at 60 minutes to change the match. This dire situation is down to both injuries and also insufficient investment in the squad.
If we can squeeze into sixth place with our depleted squad, just think what we could do with proper investment. This situation will be partly resolved in January with a couple of signings, and the return of Neto, Boly and Jonny. But, in the current financial year we are restricted due to FFP, but proper money must be spent in the summer after the financial year-end in May. We may have the Europa League to plan for by then.
Surely we have to ask why we have such a poor / inexperienced bench.
And the answer is simple – not enough senior players.
Absolutely not enough senior players. When I look at who the top three teams have on their benches, my heart sinks for Bruno and Wolves. This must be addressed in January and next summer.
Another way of looking at it would be that our more experienced bench players are out getting good competitive game time.
This will only add to their potential for the Premier League in the not too distant future.
But do have to concede we really should have got another centre half and at least one central midfielder in the last window. It’s looking pretty precarious at the moment.
Lots of relevant points made regarding last nights match which I won’t repeat. Just a couple of observations. No team will ever achieve consistency in a game where the smallest margins matter viz if Adama’s thunder shot had been one inch lower we would be applauding a typically cavaliering performance topped by a goal. Burnley would have been forced out of their negative tactics and we could well have run out 2 or 3 nil. Good common sense applied by the ref who resisted the temptation to red card but booked players when it could have got out of hand. Doherty v Semedo debate surely now put to bed, Nelson continues to improve his game albeit areas yet to address. Putting aside for one moment the January window, which is said to be notoriously difficult to deal in, I’m sure most of us would like to see more homegrown talent in Sanderson, Giles and MGW step up to PL level. Does Bruno think they can and does he have the time to integrate them. They’re cutting it in the Champ but the PL is a much higher level. Very much glass half full, I still bear the scars of the 1980’s tripe and just love watching Moutinho, Neves commanding play. Last thing- let’s get off Dendonkers back ( why do we always need a scapegoat?) he’s had little game time, played well last night and posed a goal threat. Same could be said for Traore. Rant over.
It could also be argued that if Adama had passed the ball to Jiminez as he should have done we would DEFINITELY have taken the lead.
If my granny had wheels….
What would your post say if he had have passed and Raul had missed? Would you perhaps have argued he should have taken his shot?
I wouldn’t argue. I would have been pissed off if Raul had missed though.
Should also add totally agree positively about Moutinho, Neves AND Dendoncker who has a big role to play in this squad. Semedo v Doc – would love to have both in the squad, they’re very different.
And though some might disagree I’m also glass half full. Anyone who went through the eighties is, but we can still kick on further if Fosun get it right.
If you don’t like watching Traore then you don’t like football imo, he’s incredibly entertaining and exciting to watch. As frustrating as he is, he’s a one off totally unique talent. Surely his lack of final ball is a training ground issue, Nuno got the best out him in 19/20 so he has it in his locker but if he wants out, which is what it looks like, does Bruno feel it’s not worth doing the legwork.
I thought we played well in posssession but lacked quality in the final third, RNA crosses were poor all game. I thought Donk had an ok game.If he’s standing in for Neves or Mouthino is he ever gonna look anything but ordinary in comparison. Atm he is a decent squad player and we are short on them right now.
Another clean sheet though, our defense is keeping us up there, unfortunately this is an entertainments industry and our attack is letting them down. It would it be more fun to draw 3-3 than 0-0. Hopefully the return of Neves and Podense can add some balance to us. It will be interesting to see our back three against the possibly the best forward line in the world so bring it on.
So our back three will be up against Raul, Hwang and Podence??!!
Bet Kloppey wishes he had Raul to go alongside Diogo.
We gonna sneak a positive result, and you heard it here on Radio Fantasy Island !
Bet Bruno would have liked Diogo alongside Raul, Hwang and/or Pedro.
This coming transfer window is last chance saloon for Fosun. Bruno has done brilliantly with his depleted squad and should be favourite for best manager in the PL. It is so obvious that he needs more quality players and if Fosun mess up again, then they will have proven their lack of commitment to Wolves, club fans and city.
I’m afraid that anyone who thinks that the quality player shortage will be resolved in January is living in cloud cookoo land. The summer window is much easier to operate in and Fosun have been struggling in that since Jeff disposed of the services of important ‘ underlings’ like Dalrymple.
Or cuckoo!!
It can’t be said that we played badly. We dominated the game as Burnley made it clear from the off they had come for a point, and maybe see if they could nick something from a set piece.
But our inability to be creative enough to break through was a frustration and by the midway point of the second half it was clear we had run out of ideas.
The Traore discussion will run and run. Personally I thought he had a right to take the shot on and he was only inches away from a screamer. But once again, he fluffed it and one again displayed his inability to finish. And it was clear last night his head has dropped.
This team doesn’t score enough goals and the paltry amount of chances created against two of the bottom 3 is, being kind, disappointing, not being kind, embarrassing.
I said at the start of the season it was criminal to have no more central midfield options. We lose Neves for one game and the creativity dries up completely. I actually thought Moutinho was excellent but he’s a different kind of player. Dendoncker had his usual mixed performance.
It was another chance missed to get points on the board ahead of a daunting set of fixtures.
3x decent players and we will rip this league.
I don’t think that we are as poor as some believe.
Traore is damn frustrating but I’d rather be with him than against him.
Too small a squad which will shortly become smaller ?
Beef the middle of the squad and then a few tweaks.
Glass half drunk.
Who can make the crossbar sing?
Thats Traore.
Weirdly 8th after all that. which means 12 teams are eating dust. We wanted 6 points, we got 2. Clean sheets. La di da.
Toothy’s scouse army is on its way. Do we still get paid every time Diogo scores?
1 lv.
I would love to see some comparative footage of Jimi’s attacking positions this year v 2019 when we have the ball on the flanks. I don’t know if it is Bruno’s plan (like the goal v WH) or possibly some reluctance to attack headers in a crowded area, but it seems to me that Jimi is hanging at the top of the box more than getting towards the 6 yard box.
That may be a partial explanation for the horrible crossing from Ait Nouri and Semedo, or the number of times we retreat from those attacking positions, pass to a midfielder, then a defender before slowly trying to get back to the flank again. It also partly accounts for Traore’s “lack of end product” such as in the first 3 games when he kept getting to the byline and whipping in a cross where no one got on the end to score.
