That was just the tonic in midweek.
In pummelling Arsenal the lads have refreshed a season that was fast turning stale.
Win the next two and we’ll almost certainly finish 7th I would have thought but to have it in our hands with three games to spare is in itself an achievement.
Nuno says the team shouldn’t be thinking about revenge but I know I certainly am. I don’t fancy being trebled.
Watford
I said it at the time and I’ll say again – fair play to them for what they produced in that second half at Wembley.
Like most people I really thought we had it won at two zip. I expected us to shut them down, drain their belief and probably score again on the counter.
We had our say in the game though and they won’t have forgotten they were well and truly on the rack for the best part of an hour.
I didn’t think it was necessary for Ben Foster and Troy Deeney to put the boot in afterwards and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a chuckle after the same two players gifted their next game to Arsenal. Karma I think that’s called.
Deeney sits out this game following the sending off and will be a big miss tomorrow I suspect.
Our old friend Deulofeu scored twice to see them through against Huddersfield last weekend and to say he’s a marked man would be some understatement.
Wolves
Hard to imagine Nuno will make any changes tomorrow given how well everyone did on Wednesday.
Jimenez has looked leggy since Wembley but there’s no real like-for-like replacement so can’t see anything doing there.
We’ve seen Jota destroy top calibre opposition consistently since the turn of the year and he had Watford on the back foot at times the other week.
He’s red hot at the moment so getting the ball to him in those inside positions to run from deep is the key. We didn’t do it well enough against Burnley or Southampton.
Predictions
Well done to Wolvo Dave who storms to the top of the Prediction League table after correctly forecasting victory against Arsenal.
Bravo to Wolfstroker, PeteRobbo, jazzwolf54 and basherbaz too who all went one better and got the exact scoreline for a maximum.
As always, if you’d like to join in with the fun simply leave your prediction in the comment section below, which is where you’ll find my best guess.
Up The Wolves!
Exiled Wolf has asked me to inform everyone going to the Bloggers Ball that menu selections for the meal and the full £27 (per head) cost is due with him before end of play Monday. There’s still time for people to register interest if they’d like to go. Simply leave a comment below.
Oh yeah, I’m backing us. I just wonder if that win against Arsenal coupled with Deeney being sidelined could tip things in our favour. Defend well, get Jota in the game and win the game. He’s playing that well I think it’s that simple.
Sorry the preview is condensed and late going up the is time lads. Had an absolute nightmare with the hosts who took everything offline due to some infected files on the server. It’s a minor miracle we’re back online so quickly.
You forget that we tore you apart at Molineux yes? Also on the back foot for an hour? You were at no point in the game totally on top. Cloudy vision. Deeney will be a miss certainly, and that I fear will be the difference in the end – but we have more about us than Deeney and Deulefeu.
Credit to you Thomas for getting the site back up on such short notice!
Wow looks like it’s a 3 horse race. Of course the one time I pick Wolves to draw they win… let’s hope it’s back to winning ways again
Yes mate been getting odd things coming up when trying to log in recently so glad you have cleaned it up .
Regarding the Watford game I was so peed off with Wembley but wished them well after as I regard the loss our fault .
Nuno says the Wembley result has nothing to do with tomorrow … really !
He may well feel that way although I doubt it .
I think the players will have a different mind set and i expect them to go out there and smash the living shit out of Watford .
And I hope they do ……….. troy f……. deeney blue nose gob shite
I am personally looking for revenge but believe Nuno is right to try to get the players not to do so . We don’t want any of them losing their heads even if we fans will !
The key is to avoid defeat even if we don’t win as I think four more points will be enough for 7 th if we want that . But do we ?!
Would be nice to beat them on there own patch, after all, they are 2-0 up on us this season.
I really am 50/50 with regards finishing the season in 7th and heading into Europe (unless as l have mentioned in a previous blog and Watford screw us up and see off City.)
Look how Burnley reacted, although they have turned it around a bit now.
I think NES will have to increase the numbers a little as it would be great to see our Old Gold colours heading into the wider realms.
After Wembley I think we owe them a pasting ! Man mark Deulofeu unleash Jota and Jimmy and we should be fine.
Twat Merson has it down as 2-2 draw . Nothing yet from Lawro ?
Reference the bloggers ball , can you just pop in for a pint or three or have you got to have the meal ?
COYW
Pop in pre or after match for a drink.
Cheeseburger has promised to cover the bar tab for the day.
Cat,
R u putting in another appearance?
The meal isn’t mandatory. Happy to see you for pre or post-match drinks (or both).
Hi Exiled Wolf, I have paid Dougie Singh £5 deposit for the meal .Do I pay the balance of £22 into the same account or,if not, what are your details please?
Yes, please, Andrew. Same account is great.
Look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
All paid. Great result at Watford and Palace! Look forward to seeing you next Saturday .Hopefully better weather than here in Norwich!
I’m very even handed about the latest instalment of this W/W trilogy. At least I am so long as we stuff them before Citeh get the chance. First meeting we were still acclimatising, second we stuffed them silly and then they got lucky. This time – no mistakes.
Getting to the nitty-gritty for positions 7 to 10. If there is a winner in this game I think they will end up with the 7th place. C.O.Y.W.
Would like to have gone for a clean sheet but think we will start slowly
You can’t not back us to win this one, I think we’ll be well up for it. I can imagine it now, Coady bouncing round that dressing room, slapping all the other players up the face as he raises the away dressing room roof with pure motivation…..not that the lads will need much for this, I think Watford are going to feel the wrath….
COYFW!!!
Fek revenge…. I want blood, snot & tears from every fekin hornet fan in the ground…. not because of the Semi, but because I can’t get a fekin ticket
To the 12th man i salute and please please please smash fek out of them
Beat nearly all the top six, we should and will beat Elton’s lot… COMFB FWAW & FOwb and w
PS agreed keep mouse man quite and it should be ours…
PPS if anyone has got or knows to a single spare ticket let me know before 12.00 noon tomoz
PPPS if anyone knows to a pair (or single) ticket for Liverpool let me know before 2.50pm on Sunday 12th
Revenge is a dish better served cold, i.e. a few weeks after pig face deeney cheated a penalty out of us.
For once I don’t agree with Nuno, I want to smash the snot out of them, humiliate them and leave them shell shocked for their appearance at Wembley which should have been ours.
Fuckin’ Watford!
Who do they think they are?
Mid table north londoners, and we know what we do to north londoners!
We deffo need a 5-1 tomorrow to set us up for the showpiece against Fulham wot I will grace with my presence!!
If ever there was a team punching above their weight it’s this mob, the pair of ungracious teats Foster and Deeney deserved all they got. The Wolves fans to a man realised it was nobody’s fault but ours that we threw away a two goal lead. For that pair to then rub our noses in it shows what a bunch of pretend footballers they are.
I think our lads will be well and truly up for it, I think they will require no motivation or incentive to run, hustle, bustle and knock this lot into touch.
White kit or not, I’m going for a great game, flowing footy and a Wolves win.
Watford 0
Wolves 3
Jiminez masks gonna be out in force methinks. So:-
COMBambinos,
Europa league beckons.
Get your names down for the Bloggers ball. Pop along, show your face, swing by, but most of all come along so we can put a face to the name. You get a chance to meet,
Steve Daley and his lovely lady.
Phil Parkes.
Also this ugly bugger with the beard.
Funny thing culture.. down here in London we have a drawer for socks
We call it a sock drawer
Didn’t realise that in Texas they just hung them from the ceiling although I bet it’s good if you’re in a hurry
As “5-1 Clive” says, revenge is a dish best served cold, Nuno knows this, which is why he is busy pouring cold water on it. Nuno is also a gentleman and gents don’t bang on about revenge, at least not overtly. Thugs like Jose Mourinho do. Ditto thugs like Diver Deeney. Whoever wins tomorrow probably clinches seventh place. Who wants it more? I’d say Nuno. He is a gentleman but also a proud man. He knows he screwed up at Wembley. Let Watford dream of Europe by winning at Wembley, but the reality is Wolves deserved Wembley more and tomorrow we will prove that. 3-1.
This one is for our own pride, to show the rest of English football that we are a better side than Watford and that Wembley was just a minor bump in our trajectory.
Of course they’re a good side and can hurt us. The facts that we’ll be in our away kit and our fans have a pathetically small allocation won’t help. I’m still looking forward to this though.
This season has been the best in my lifetime and I have no idea how I’ll make it through the summer break honestly.
Wolves have been magnificent and will finish 7th. The Magnificent Seven.
Talking of seven here are seven reasons – apart from the obvious – why I hate Watford.
1. Those bloody allotments we had to zig zag through to get to the old away end.
2. The parking near the ground – once I got a parking ticket and in 2009 I parked in a multi-storey car park and took an hour and a quarter to get out.
3. Troy Deeney
4. The annoying stadium announcer with his pathetic “Let’s hear it for the golden boys”. Tosser!
5. Fernando Forestieri’s embarrassing and disgusting cheating and diving to get Sako sent off.
6. The arrogant Watford fan who came on the radio when they’d beaten us 3-1 a week after we’d beaten them 4-1 in the Cup saying how they’d put out their reserves the week before etc etc. Moron!
7. Elton John’s ‘hair’.
See you there.
OODCL
Wolves U 23’s 2-0 down at Man Utd.

They were not disappointed.

Wolves promoted to the U23’s first division.
Well done me Bambinos.
Lets hope the first team can do the same tomorrow.
We must beat them at the third time of trying; I was there when we beat them 1-0 a few years ago; wish I could be there tomorrow.
Jimenez to score one or two.
ps. I couldn’t open the blog link last night and still had my internet blocked somehow this morning. Dunno if that was the server problem mentioned above. I had to shut down and boot up again to clear the problem. Hope no lasting damage.
This is one I really want us to win. Not because I have anything against Watford but because we have a point to make. We really beat them at Wembley and they got lucky (or cheated) so we owe them one and need to show how it should have gone.
So going for a CFH so I can sleep again and the natural order is restored.
Bummed that Deeney isn’t playing as I’m expecting jimmy the nez to get three and maybe we won’t stop there and I’d love to see Deeneys face at 90 minutes after they have been well and truly drubbed
Whatever, I’m now an extra 20 quid to the good after the Arse were gunned down in that magic 19 minutes
I don’t fear 7th…it’s a good way to force the pace of squad improvement
Just watching the Reds tear Huddersfield apart with Swedish.commentary (as we arrived in Stockholm 3 hrs ago) … that’s the destruction potential we must build over the coming years
Happy Days
Marin,
Just met StuWolf on train.
Let me know if you’re successful in getting in today.
I travelling back to Wolves & will swing buy in both hope & expectation of getting a ticket in Away or Home section.
Cheers
Phil R
Much as I want to see Watford taken apart, after the magnificent effort against Arsenal on Wednesday, our lads will be running on empty by the end of this game. We know the subs other than young Ruben make no impact so I hope the game is put to bed by halftime. No second half panics please and Diogo hat trick.
Nuno says it isn’t about revenge! Well I beg to differ – it most definitely is!!!!
Nice win please lads & wipe the smirk off Fosters face in the process.
Somehow lost the blog shortcut off my phone & not getting an option to put it back on!
COYW
Would really love to do one over them now and get to 7th finally.
Revenge and Revenge again.
That’s all I want.
Just a pity that Dreary not playing, the blue nose tw:;t
The difference in the games against Watford and Arsenal was:-
When we went a couple of goals up against Watford we sat back and started to defend deeper and deeper. I expect it was the huge significance of what we were about to achieve that got to us.
Result, we lost.
When we got a couple of goals up against Arsenal we kept going for it – and scored another.
Game over.
Let’s hope that Nuno and his merry men learned a lesson there.
We spanked Arsenal’s arses.
Let’s give Watford Watfor!!!
So Foster tries to look like he still gives a shit about Sandwell Town by tweeting the boring ‘Wo1ve5’ .if he loves them that much why did he piss off? I didn’t see any tweet from the twat when we went on to 51 points – yes 5 1. Points. Beating Sandwell’s record of 49. I hope a stray lion escapes from Watford zoo and bites his arse off. And I want us to beat them by a CFH 5-1. Shove that 5-1 up your bottom Foster. Any way. Rant over. I will be popping round for a few pre match beers next Saturday. Any one else wants to come along just for a few jars see you there. Watford 1 WWFC 5.
I am fast beginning to hate Watford as much as I hate Arsenal, and that’s saying something. It’s for games like these that I wish we still had Muzzy in defense. 🙂
But I think that’s why Nuno is trying to keep it calm and steering away from talk of revenge. Much as a couple of broken Watford knee caps may sound sweet at the time, it will probably be the surest way to throw it all away.
He’s right, of course, cool heads will prevail tomorrow. Let’s just beat them at what we’re good at. Football!
We got this!
Go Wolves!
Very difficult to call this. After the euphoria of the Arsenal game there will be plenty who expect us to wreak a delicious revenge over Watford. But football isn’t that simple is it? Especially for a Wolves fan. You know, those who expect us to beat the top six and lose to the bottom six.
Looking at the current table you can see Wolves and Watford locked together in the battle for 7th. Added to that, both teams seem to concede pretty much as many goals as they score.
Whoever wins tomorrow is in an ultra-strong position to secure 7th place in the PL. I wouldn’t want that myself. We have a very small squad and would be better off just focusing on the PL next year I reckon.
Put all that together and I smell an inconclusive draw all day long here. Sticking to the average goals scored and conceded for both sides, along with what’s at stake, I’m overwhelmingly drawn to my old favourite of 1-1.
Agreed Pete that this is tough to call. The table doesn’t lie as we are both neck and neck in the run in for Europe.
Gonna sit on the fence too, but wouldn’t it be great if we could nick it with Raul scoring in injury time just to get revenge on those two gits Foster and Deeney?
COMBs!
It would indeed be great WWW and obviously that’s what I’m hoping for despite my own prediction.
Yeh, I’d love to see us score 3 or 4, but Watford are a good side mate. Well let’s face it, we’ve been toe-to-toe all season pretty much.
I would think we ought to win one out of three against them, so going for a win.
If we scored two against them at Wembley I don’t see why we shouldn’t do it again so 2-
If we do go two up then I can’t see us giving the lead away again … so 2-0 to us.
Thanks for the U23 updates Stu – well done the lads indeed. Bodes well for the future.
COYW
Got to win this one 2-0 down with 10 minutes to go win 3-2
They are definitely going to get spanked.
Thanks for the write-up Thomas – and the Bloggers’ Ball mention.
Some bloggers are staying at the Novotel on the night of Friday 3 May (as are Nuno and the team) but others are checking in on the Saturday. We will have a pint or two prematch at the hotel before heading off to Molineux. Dinner is 7.30pm (8pm sitting) but I dare say there will be people at the bar from around 6pm!
The hotel is also hosting an end of season party, including a band, that evening. We are welcome to join them following our meal. Anyone wishing to join us for food should contact me on singhdougie@btinternet.com.
Watford tomorrow? Having just come in from watching the latest Marvel Avengers film, the ‘A’ word is very much on my mind. It would be good to see Wolves’ first half performance against Arsenal on Wednesday replicated.
I’d love to see us batter them, but would take a draw away from home.
How lucky are we.
3 games to go. Can finish 7th with it still in our own hands.
2 big games still to come. We owe Watford big time.
Then, we have a part to play in the title, last day.
Nothing will make up for the last 11 minutes at Wembley, but a win tomorrow sure make me feel better. Come on Wolves.
I think the battle for 7th will stay tight again with a draw leaving the door open for Everton to jump in (temporarily).
I would love to see us in double figures over this lot, revenge would be sweet but sadly they are too good a side for that.
1 – 1
We’ll probably beat them and Liverpool and lose to Fulham.
I wish that whoever scores the first goal for Wolves goes behind the goal and puts on “the mask”!! With our luck it will be an own goal, and Boly might get booked for trying to put the mask on the Watford own-goal scorer!!
Wolves to win a cautious game, comfortably in the end!
Like everyone else here, I too am hoping for a good spanking. However, having lost my lead in the prediction league I have to be different from the leaders to have a chance to get back on top. I cannot predict a loss (as this is not a bottom 6 team) so a draw it has to be (again). 1-1 for me. (Which would not be a bad result for Wolves).
Anyone going in the Watford end?
Anyone know if you can buy tickets on the day?
Anyone not going cause of this narsty bug that’s going around and needs to off-load a ticket last minute??????
Please let me know – Phil.rickhuss@sky.com
Of course we all want revenge. And somewhere deep down, Nuno and the boys want it too. Badly.
But Nuno is a wise ole sage and he knows that cool heads and a clear focus will be required to get the maximum points against the club who have become our nemesis. So I foresee us playing our superb, counterattacking game against a team who, at home, will need, and be expected by their fans to achieve, the vital three points. Pressure is on them to force the issue and despite the quality in their ranks, we know we can triumph in these situations.
And triumph we will.
Watford 0 – 1 Wolves
Raul to exact the oh so sweet retribution.
I wish Raul didn’t look so knackered. If he was firing on all cylinders I would really fancy us. Not revenge indeed – who does Nuno think he is kidding?
With him shot though, I will be happy for us to hold them to a draw – they want 7th too.
Get Niall Ennis out the bar and give him 89 minutes, I bet even if he’s pissed up after last night, he’d run to Watford to get a game.
I bet he’d score too.
Gratefully received a face full of eggs after predicting Wolves to loose to the Arse 🙂
I watched the game via the interweb and despite the Arse having more of the first 20 odd mins we were excellent. A very good all round performance from our boys.
Watford broke our hearts the other week but broken hearts can be mended (there is a song in there somewhere!). They are a good team and have performed well this season. I think were a evenly matched on the pitch.
A draw seems to be the order of the day then.
Totally shot…. no WiFi, no nothing thanks to the wonderful team at BT…
Have to go around to my daughter to do this….
Revenge for me … Clive’s reasons re: Deeney…
What an amazing week – to beat Arsenal for the first time in 40 years shows how far we have come. But the challenge – as mentioned by many – is how to maintain the performance week in – week out. Our results against the top six is outstanding but it is terrible against the bottom half. Much has been said about the style of play – our counter attacking style is ideal given the pace and strength of Jota – but when sides hunker down and defend we don’t seem able to break them down.
So how will Watford approach this game? They are at home so I expect they will be a little more aggressive. After beating us at Wembley they probably believe that they have the measure of us. Maybe they will be over confident?
I fancy us for a win but my prediction performance has been pretty dismal recently. I am reminded of a famous US ice hockey player who said “ I skate to where the puck is going to be , not where it has been”.
My problem is I have been seesawing between euphoria and confidence after a victory and dismay after a defeat. So my predictions tend to be a reflection of the last game. And Wolves have not been that consistent of late. Like the ice hockey player we need to look to the future – and when I do I think the world looks very rosy.
So I am full of confidence and going for a very solid victory this time!,
Revenge will hopefully be very sweet.
Would love to see that twat Foster get a bad back picking the ball out of the net a few times.
I really can’t make my mind up about this one. I’ve only just about got over Wembley so to lose today wouldn’t exactly help my recovery. I’ll back the lads to get a positive result even it’s a draw. Raul to get a brace
Last chance Saloon as far as the Predo’ League is concerned. Just can’t see the Mighty Wolves loosing.
I hope we stuff em!!
A draw will do.
It will be close and nervy yet again, but, on the numbers, I think we might just shade it this time.
So happy after stuffing the arse I don’t really care too much about tonight’s result, ok I do really
Us by the odd goal
Utw
Aargh!!! Dreaded white shirts!
Oh! That’s so good!

This is incredible. Wolves sit THIRD in the table when you take out results against the teams in the bottom four. Third!
That’s an astonishing stat that shows just how good Wolves are, but also how dreadful they are vs the lesser teams.
Wolves’ next game? 19th place Fulham. ?

Brilliant by Wolves. Been lots of talk about their record against the top six but just take out results against the bottom four and only Man City and Liverpool have more points. Remarkable really.
68 Man City
67 Liverpool
49 Wolves
49 Man Utd
47 Arsenal
46 Tottenham
43 Chelsea
From Me;
We have 54 points. We have only gotten 5 points from those 7 games?
Tim,
Are you coming to the end of season blogger gathering on the 4th?
No, I live in Canada and that’s a little to far for me.
No further than Texas, and some of us make the pilgrimage annually.
But, then again, some of us are not Doubting Tims or Nervous Nellies or Debbie Downers, we are true supporters, come hail or shine.
Just sayin’!!
Guilty. I must admit that I’m not a “true supporter” of this blog.
Will you be coming to any game next season mate. Would be good to meet you.
Has the Sandwell arse wipe been on twitter tonight? No. Thought not after his shit goal keeping handed Diogo a goal. How does it feel Foster.Wanker.
