In the wake of this victory – our most convincing of the season by some distance – one can only assume that the Wolves players wiled away the hours of Friday night playing FIFA 18.
The football on display at the Pirelli Stadium was often befitting of a video game, such was the precision of our build up play and composure in front of goal.
The footwork of the diminutive pairing of Ivan Cavaleiro and Ruben Vinagre was often the stuff of pure fantasy, with poor Stephen Warnock ending up on his backside when attempting to prevent our fourth and final goal.
It was a performance to behold, one that erased the premature fear of a dip in form following our defeat to Sheffield United.
Given our response to the loss against Cardiff earlier in the season, that always seemed unlikely but those of a glass half empty persuasion can be forgiven for expecting the worst given there is the small matter of the derby with in-form Aston Villa looming.
As pointed out in previous blogs, Wolves finally seem to have found themselves a manager capable of instilling a winning mentality within the club and that was never more apparent than yesterday.
Say what you like about the Brewers, but they’re a formidable side at home that try and play football the right way.
Nonetheless, their efforts were fruitless yesterday as we surged into an early two goal lead.
Cavaleiro, in the sort of form that makes him worthy of the seemingly never ending song that has been dedicated to him, did well to tee up the clinical Diogo Jota for the first, whilst the less Stephen Bywater hears about the Roman Saiss’ tap in that followed shortly after the better.
If those goals were pleasing but somewhat underwhelming, the following two made for gleeful viewing.
Ruben Vinagre, arguably the best performer on the pitch, weaved his way into the opposition box in a manner befitting of the world’s very best full backs before dispatching the ball low and hard past the hapless Bywater.
Though he is far from the finished article, it is becoming clearer with every passing game that the Portuguese loanee is a frightful talent that has the potential to go far in his career.
It was hard to see that goal being topped for quality, but the fourth was the result of some simply outrageous skill.
After turning the aforementioned Warnock inside out, Cavaleiro squared the ball to the also excellent Matt Doherty who rolled it nto the path of a gleeful Leo Bonatini for an easy fourth goal of his Wolves career.
Liquid football is the most appropriate term to describe this performance, and we now head into the international break, dependent on today’s results, sitting pretty in second place.
We can only hope that the ensuing spate of international games does not throw us off kilter, as you’d suspect we’ll have to replicate these standards when facing the more challenging prospect of Steve Bruce’s promotion chasers.
One thing’s for certain though, in this sort of form, Nuno’s men are capable of putting anyone to the sword.
Who would have predicted us to win this one 4-0 after Wednesday ? Oh yes, I did. Absolutely brilliant. The 2nd and 3rd goals were sheer class. Not sure that there will be many comments this time saying “we need a striker”. Wednesday night was a blip that probably did us good. Upwards and onwards, this IS the year.
It was Burton Albion and not Leeds so let’s not get carried away just yet!
And look what happened to Leeds today!!!
Thank you Clive.
Dont care who they were bouncebackontrack ability in spadefulls. Why not celebrate a win ? On previous thread Cheesey almost right but its not actually real plastic (bring them on).
Two defeats on the spin for Super Leeds United.
Thank you for your insights Rasmin. Still s bit concerned that, as you say, Burton play football the right way which allows Wolves to play without getting kicked in the style of Cardiff, so prevalent in this division.
What do I think of our performance yesterday?
Well, to quote Osric in Act 2 Scene 5 of Hamlet:-
“A hit, a very palpable hit!”.
The fact that most of the characters end up dead at the end of the play needn’t worry us unduly.
It was not the tragedy that some of us feared but a triumph to equal King Henry V’s victory at Agincourt.
Yes, Burton aren’t the strongest team in the division.
Yes, they did let us play and didn’t try to kick us into the International Break.
But… “Brian Clough, Nigel Clough, Burtons Ales, Richard Burton, Burtons the tailors (do they exist anymore), Tim Burton, the other Richard Burton, the explorer, and any Burtons I’ve forgotten….. Your boys took a hell of a beating!”
Can’t wait for the Villa game!
– He’s the best 18 year old wing back I’ve ever witnessed – it’s as simple as that. Hopefully he chooses premier league with Wolves instead of French football and champions league ;=)
We could probably get competition from Barcelona also :=(
Have to agree with Mill Wright.
It was only Burton and we did Only score 4.
Should have had that 5th, clipped the inside of the post and came out, sods law.
You’d think we never saw that kind of football all the time, fancy getting excited over 4 goals.
Sitting 2nd in the league after 11 games, well you’d always expect that of Wolves every season would’nt you,
Yesterday we were very lucky, very lucky indeed for a minute I thought we’d killed em.
Ah well, it can only get better. (And it will)
Once these Feckin Portuguese Tom Daly’s realise if they stay on their feet in this league, they can go past these cloggers and score even more than the 19 goals we’ve got so far.
Me.
I’ m getting excited , no I’m getting so feckin excited.
Vinagre, FFS, he’s 18 years old.
I won’t say I told you so, but didn’t I tell you so.
At Burton the Samba footy was back and it was Carnivaaaal.
Mr Glass always full, signing off.
The Wolves ‘here we go again’ phrase re a loosing run seems to be excluded from our football under Nuno – perhaps it’s the genuine quality difference between him and previous managers…
Whats aparant he also seems nonchalant about results like this and yet 4-0 away is so rare for us all to experience.
Who could blame anyone who now thinks that we are going up this time..
Early days I know but if we can play as we have done so far then it’s really obviously on
The difference Imo is that we now have at least 6 class players now to change games …we play a bit like Leicester when they went up…what the hell would happen if we had a ‘Vardy’ too?
Fantastic result..
I’m with you Stu,
My cup however is not just full but runeth over!
This manager reminds me of David Dickinson – he’s “the real deal” – serious I won’t question any team he picks – I have complete faith that he knows considerably more than the myriad of would-be managers & he’ll take us where we need to be!
4:0, 2nd, another clean sheet, exciting football like we’ve not seen in years & years and we’ll still have some that won’t be happy.
COYWolvesssssssssssssssssssssssss
Correction.. let’s buy Vardy ..Jeff..
Oh I have to say…..
I saw Sako on the box last night playing for Palace..if every there was a sorry demise of a player who instigated a self curse then this was it..I have Clive H’s voice ringing in my ears..’I told you so..I told you so !!!…my hands are up….
I told you so!!!
And don’t forget Hennessey.
Ha ha ha
Hee heee. We don’t need him mate, he would never be the same as he was for us.
Look what happened when we brought that tosser Clark back!! He was worse than the first time we had him. Let him do his business elsewhere.
Watched highlights of other championship games this morning. Hull scoring six and Dicko not involved. In any of them. Iorfa racing wide on an overlap then out of position for Bristol’s goals. Of all the dozens of actions taken by this management structure since Nuno arrived is there really anything we can point to and say in hindsight that was a mistake?
Best wait till the season’s over before answering that one Jackomac.
I disagree Steve. I said before we kicked a ball last season that I felt that that season was going to be one of consolidation and preparation for this season. I then said before a ball was kicked this season, that this season we would not just be promoted but we would be promoted as champions. I stand by that even this early on. I do no expect to wait to find out if I am right. I am sure I will be, I am that confident.
This is our season, our period of glory, our first step up to all things massive, a step towards Europe, and the Champions League, a step further than our achievements in the 50s. I believe.
Come on me babbies, let us be Premier League Champions before I leave this earth. That is all I ask.
Well Brompto’, I’m never one to count my chickens and all that, but I’ll go so far as to say this. We’ve had a fantastic start to the season. The football has been Barcelonaesque and our new boys have proved to be strong in character and technically brilliant. We’re ahead of schedule in points won, Costa is back and Willy Boly will return after the international break.
However, that don’t mean we’re gonna win anything. 🙂
True. It is just my belief.
I just had a chuckle as I read something from another blog. “There are 23 teams playing for 2nd place”
Loved it, as that is exactly as I see our season. The other 23 will be below us at endex.
Yeah. Worth a chuckle that, for sure.
Well said. Just think we ONLy paid out 7.5 mill for Cav, — an absolute steal in today`s market — yet by some miracle we managed to get 3.5 mill for that great non striker Dicko. Cav will next season be gracing the Premiership. Dicko will probably be lucky to get a game for the likes of Rochdale or Accrington Stanley.
Thanks for the write-up Ben.
That warm glowing feeling on a Sunday morning is back. But then it was there from around 4pm yesterday……and that has happened too often before. Thanks Wolves.
Wednesday was a blip but there were extenuating circumstances. What is so evident is Nuno’s calm reassurance and the way he just gets on with setting the team up for the next game. One of the commentators on Wolves TV remarked yesterday how he looks totally comfortable at Molineux.
Finally, congratulations to DB on his 200 appearances in a Wolves shirt.
Oops, should be ‘hasn’t’.
It was the sort of performance that got you feeling giddy. It is only the years of experience of being a Wolves fan that is holding me back from truly going all out and saying we could be on for a special season. If we were neutral observers, we would say this team is far too good not to go up. It’s difficult to even write for fear of it all unraveling in true Wolves style.
Caveleiro with some outrageous pieces of skill of which we all know he’s capable, Vinagre playing with the confidence of a man much older, Jota doing what he does and Bonatini coming off the bench to contribute. For a man who isn’t the striker we need he’s developing a healthy habit of being in the right place and nabbing goals.
This was just what we needed going into the break. A defeat would have seen us being swallowed into the pack. Just the set-up we needed for Villa. Molineux will be bouncing in two weeks’ time.
Great result and in “Nuno we trust” ???
Can we please put Bruce and the vanilla to the sword in the next game ?
Money shop sponsors OUT ?
Redrow signs DOWN ??
Liquidator BACK – I am sure the fans can agree to enjoy it and not sing silly songs ?
Hope so. It would be disappointing if our main song was used just for goading the wankers from down the road. I understand it’s passion etc. but I’d expect that kind of behaviour from a lesser club.
Question marks came up instead of emojies
To me this looked a bit like the first run-out for ‘Plan B’ – 3 attackers, all quick, all comfortable on the ball, all inter-changeable. If the opposition squeeze our passing game we’ll hit them with pace as per yesterday’s first couple of goals. If they sit off us, we’ll use Bonatini and pass our way round them. Looks promising for the rest of the season as teams will not be sure how to set-up against us. Thought Bennett was solid and unspectacular (one dreadful pass excepted) – exactly what was required on the day.
I am so happy I am going to walk around Gornal with my Wolves underpants on my head.
Now why ruin this lovely weekend for everyone??
If my memory serves me well Wolfstroker, I do believe somebody should be running through Featherstone starke bollock naked !!! Come on Paul lets be having Yer !
What a difference, last season at Burton we were frustrated and bored in equal measures getting more excitement watching the pigeons on the pitch pecking away to their hearts content, largely undisturbed by player or ball.
This season fast flowing football that would’nt be out of place in the premier and Burton’s contribution is not to be underestimated they played football and more importantly let us play. Never mind the “its only Burton” disrespect, they are not as bad as recent scorelines suggest and their fans stayed with them till the bitter end, even applauding at the finish. I for one wish them all the luck for the rest of the season.
Special mention for Vinegre, he is going to be some player next season in the premier! Also Matt Doherty the work he gets through is fantastic, love the guy!
Couldnt agree more – I hope Burton win many more games and stay up they are a worthy addition to the Championship
I saw that same pigeon lowves, he flew straight into the stand this time no way was he settling on that pitch.
I know he shit on my cap!
I looked for you all over the place, pretty damn good game eh!
We were to the right of the goal, looking at the pitch and right at the front, we were the two singing ,I’m surprised you never heard us!
At last, our vast potential has been realised and we’ve panned somebody. We all knew it was coming. It was just a matter of when. And who the whipping boys would be.
Is it coincidence that this performance has coincided with the return of our Helder? I think not. There’s only so many forwards a defense can double up on. Having Costa, Cav and Jota on the pitch together must give opposition managers nightmares. With Vinagre playing like a full blown winger and Neves the oil of our well-tuned machine, we are a fearsome prospect for any team in this division. And quite a few in the division above.
However, I’m not gonna get carried away. Bigger tests lie ahead and the Villa one should be a cracker. I can’t wait to see Mr Terry trying to keep up with our quicksilver forwards.
They’d better wear extra shin pads though. He’s a dirty git!!
Watching Leeds getting mauled , should be five or six down, I said I’d judge them after this week having to play Ipswich Cardiff and Wednesday! Not bad going forward tbf but shaky at the back , our gd looking good now too
Utw
I was one the many increasingly desperate for a new striker addition as the transfer deadline came upon us. In my wisdom I chose to ridicule Nuno`s calm statement that a new striker was neither a priority nor essential. And that`s why I`m just an avid supporter and he is a great coach.
Yesterday clearly showed that the days of the big bustling center forward, dependent of high crosses and flick ons to no one in particular, are over. Against Burton we had no center forward — just endless fluid movement from several outstanding players. The problem for the Burton central defenders was that they simply did not know who to mark and from whom / where the next threat would materialize. Ours was modern football at its very best. Thank goodness the likes and Rhodes and Gallacher et al were left where they were.
‘In Nuno we trust ”
Totally agree with 2nd paragraph
I agree also.
Am so impressed with us that am contemplating a bet on us ‘ doing a double.’
This year winners of the Championship & next season the Premiership!
Great odds and possible considering our talent.
Enjoying watching Wolves for the first time since Mick McCarthy’s first season; the quality of football & quality of (most) players is a joy to behold.
I did wonder how we would do against Burton, watching their big geezers warm up and the rain come down…how well we passed that test!
Our biggest tests have & will come against top ten teams, teams that have better technique, athleticism & greater physicality than Burton. Our current record against the other teams in the top ten: P3 W0 D1 L2 F1 A4.
Can we learn from & improve on this? It is the physicality element (increasing our own & coping with opponents’) that is the key.
Given that the quality we have is not in question, I think the extent to which we learn how to deal with the physicality a good number of teams will bring will determine whether we’re promoted or not this season.
An absolute pleasure to watch from start to finish – I’ve said it many times already but I am thoroughly enjoying watching us and hovering around the top of the table ay bad either
wooooaahh-oo Ivan Cavaleiro !
Correction: F4 A7.
Don’t get too high over one win and don’t get too low over one loss.
Still, a very impressive game against a not too good team, from what the standings indicate.
I’m just glad it wasn’t a 0-5 game because then we would have to hear Clive bragging for the next two weeks.
Who me?
Never.
Happy Birthday to Stu,
Happy Birthday to Stu,
Happy 75th birthday dear Stuwolf,
Happy Birthday to Stu.
Bostin birthday prezzie yesterday, wore it, our Stu?
Watched the whole game via Wolves tv, excellent coverage, and non stop support from our twelfth man.
Didn’t hear a single thing from Burton fans.
Seemed like a Wolves training session, but less strain involved.
This to me is the tip of the iceberg of what we are capable of.
Just the thickness of a coat of paint preventing a Five for Clive.
The football dogs mostly in alignment for us this weekend, with only Derby not scoring to make it a perfect two days.
Bring on pancho (villa )
FOwb
Great result and excellent performance. Must admit I felt that Neves could do with a rest but he played a blinder yesterday. As did everyone involved. Very glad to see young Ronan get some game time as well, what a talented player he is.
Would be a real statement if we can play like this next match and give Villa a pasting. Wouldn’t that be lovely ?
Wolves’ fans really are the `bi-polar` guys of British football; one minute we’re `awful` and looking to plummet down the table and the next we’re about to give Man City a real pasting. There’s an element of that in us all and football fans in particular, but we seem to have it off to a true art form.
I think we just need to make sure we put the right type of guys in to start against the `hard` teams to make sure we can’t be bullied, such as N Diaye, Boly and Douglas etc. Save some of our talented youngsters to bring on when the opposition tires from the constant pressing and physicality that they have spotted can be an effective ploy against our speedy intricate play. Mind you Jota, our player marked out for constant physical attention, seems to be able to take it in spades!
Cardiff and Sheff U worked brilliantly if not blatantly to stop us playing and so we have to compete in the bear garden to firstly win the physicality of the midfield battle; Kushty; against such teams. Such tactics cannot be maintained throughout the whole of a game without a good deal of the lessening in physicality and fitness. We have the guys who can take it and dish it out; we just have to learn that these are the methods that will always be used to combat our skill and speed by teams capable of such high intensity play, fair play to them.
I can hardly wait for the Villa game. Costa two weeks fitter to join in with the mercurial Jota and enigmatic Carvalho; my mouths watering. Just hope we get the one decent refereeing performance for the season where the ref recognises he is not the star of the occasion and does his job unnoticed in the background. And please, someone, put Terry on his backside at some point. COYW
Ive mentioned it before briefly on here but for me yes the first 11 is the strongest it’s been for a while but the strength of our bench has really surpassed all expectations, we’ve been crying out for a half decent left back for years we’ve now got two of the best in the league. This is all over the pitch. We lost coady so suspension and willy to injury yet we were still solid at the back. I’m normally cautious but I honestly think we will win the league. I think we got the resources to strengthen even further in January and then it’s a case of other trying for second place. Well done to fosun who seem to have learnt all the lessons last season had to offer.
Think if Morgan had not held out for every last million Fosun would have done this last year, every credit to them though for providing what we are watching this year COYW
I understand that it’s a certain blogger’s birthday.
If so, I would like to add mine and the PMDG’er’s best wishes to him and his kin.
75 eh?
You could pass for a man much younger…..
…Once!
Happy Birthday Stu.
I get so frustrated with this blog at times, in fact I came off it all together last year as I was so pissed off with the negativity. I was the first to post on this one and the first response was “It was Burton, not Leeds”. So f*****g what ! Burton beat us last year and Leeds got stuffed today. This is about NOW. We are winning the games that we used to lose in previous seasons. The feel good factor is back and I want to be on the Wolves rollercoaster all the way to the Premier League. Glass half empty or full ? Mine is completely empty as I celebrate the good times coming back to our club and I drink too quick. I always say that “this is THE year” because one day it will be and I really think that it will be this one. I was at Wembley in 1980 & 1988 for the good times and I was also a Scarborough and Chorley for the bad times so I am entitled to my opinion. Feel free to comment on this post but if you are one of the armchair fans on here who never even go to games – fuck off !
Newark I think we all understand how some could be pessimistic I mean just look at the last few seasons how up and down we’ve been losing to teams like Wigan when they haven’t won before playing us. We would take three steps forward and two steps back.
I agree with you the new management are the best I can remember since Graham Turner in the darkest days of the bhatti brother. McCarthy won me over with the Merlin the magician line. But Nuno i think has changed our outlook the teams skill mentality and levels of confidence. He gives off calmness and inner steel and makes me feel more confident we can deliver closer yo what we are capable if game in game out home and away.
Have patience for your fellow wolves brothers and sisters well all get there in our own time but as many have said we’ll all be on the same page at the end of the season.
We had Helder who could drag us to heights without him we couldn’t achieve now we’re playing football I’ve only dream of when seeing barcelona or real Madrid.
This is a ride we’re all on together and we will be in the premier league next season we have a club team and fans to be proud of and I’m hoping for every Monday to feel like the day Keith scored against Wednesday or after th e cup gsme at Anfield.
In wolves and nuno we can all trust and best wishes Stu lets hope that the best days of supporting our great club are coming in the next few years….
Andrew
Negativity comes in all shapes and form, but when it’s from a former player who threw his teddy out of the pram when Lambert his buddy got dumped, todays events (Sunday) are so much sweeter.
https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/former-championship-strike-ace-marks-out-leeds-united-as-best-team-he-has-seen-this-season/
So Sky pundit, what point was it you were trying to make????
Who are ya
Who are ya
Who are ya
Of course Stu, you have to read what he said. ‘Leeds are the best team I’ve seen live this season’.
He obviously hasn’t seen Wolves live.
Get it all out there Newark. As much as you don’t like some view points on here you have to accept them. As I do. I too was there in the dark days. Fuck me I went to shit holes like Aldershot Colchester Exeter Torquay Darlington Tranmere Southend Scarborough Mansfield Notts County Oldham Bury etc etc Take it easy son the good times ARE coming back. No doubt.
Torquay is actually quite pleasant.
BRILLIANT and we don’t fuckin care
Spot on Newark. Pirelli Stadium has been the graveyard for quite a few “established” clubs. We scored 4 – end of!
On top of our victory, draw at home for Cardiff, defeats for Sheffield United and Ipswich (although Bristol City are now well in the mix), Smethwick Town failing to win again and a mullering for that most lovable of clubs Leeds United we find ourselves sitting pretty in second place. That will do for me Tommy!! A more than satisfactory weekend.
Along with Smethwick Town and Small Heath, Leeds are the team I just love to beat and to see thrashed.
Watching Sheffield Wednesday condemn the cretins and their gobby 70’s throwback supporters with attitude to a second defeat in 4 days made my day. May 1972 remains etched on my memory for the rest of my natural.
So we go onto the infernal international break in good heart before Villa come to town. Should be quite a tasty affair!
All the best
BOG.
Don’t knock the international breaks its the only way I can get an in season holiday!!
Apologies – it slipped my mind that thr break provides the opportunity for supporters to grab a crafty break.
Just make sure you return by 14th…..your voice is needed!!
What happened to the days when the league programme continued notwithstanding internationals?
So my dream was damned near correct. 3-0 with all the goals in the first half. Must have woken up before the fourth went in I guess!
Today went to see Arsenal v Brighton at The Emirates.
Finished 2-0 but could have been 10-0.
Brighton were truly dreadful and certs for the drop I’d say.
Arsenal were different class and, well, how can I put it, they played a bit like Wolves – only not quite as good.
OODCL
What do you call a Chav in a box?….. Innit
Fabulous performance from the Porto boys and well the whole team ….. 4-0 in any game between two teams in the same division is ..frankly a …MULLERING.
I love to go a happy clapping …along the mountain track …and as I go a happy clapping with a knapsack on my back ..
This is it …it’s here … Feck off for ever POXEY and Morgan … how you’ve held this club back beggars belief.
We are going up ..I said we are going up … anybody without a Clive from Houston merd eating grin …. shame on you ….
Well done Newark Wolf for having the balls for 4 nil…me I went 3-1 …shame on me …
Oh Happy Birthday STUEY ….. Top Top bloke…..
Went to Stamford Bridge for the Chelsea v Man City match. So much skill on display. This is the future, it is Wolves’ future. Sod the old way, we all remember it. Put a shift in. Long ball. Hoof ‘n hope. Park the bus. Moxey’s penny pinching. All that stuff doesn’t get you far if you ever get to the PL. Early days I know but this time round we are prepared. In Nuno we have a coach who can compete with the best and we are laying the foundations of a team that can survive and prosper in the PL.
Good to see the Damned United brought down to earth by Sheff Wed. Good also to see that Nuno knew what he was doing in releasing Dicko and the like. That £3.5mil for Dicko is looking excellent business now even without a replacement signed.
See.. No comment…. 4-0 prediction..Got it right
spikey, a 0:4 prediction deserves a comment – you’ve earned the right to be Smuggy McSmugface when posting that….
Go on, tell us all how it is?
sorry … no comment…but wolves 3 vile 0
At the end of last season most of us said there needed to be a massive clear out – some included the then manager in that.
Back then we had an incredible 37 in or around the first team.
We currently have a main squad of 26 which includes 12 new boys.
So that means just 14 of 37 have survived. Sure there are one or two others who haven’t left, Ikeme for one, but in any one’s language retaining just 14 out of 37 is pretty major surgery.
As others have pointed out few of those who have departed are ‘pulling up trees’ at their new homes. Not that many indeed are even getting in the starting line up at their new or temporary clubs.
Says a great deal about the lack of quality we all endured in recent years.
Seeing us now with real footballers who are being coached in a progressive and forward thinking way is a joy to behold.
Long may it continue.
I have a strong belief that not only will we win promotion this season but that we will be champions. Furthermore when we get there next season we won’t be just another ‘survival in 17th place will be a success’ type of club. We will be strengthened and improved beyond even our wildest dreams. The cosy top 6 of Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool will become the Magnificent 7.
Dare to dream lads, it’s happening and it’s happening now. Enjoy the ride.
OODCL
Great post bedders, you talk a lot of sense.
Maybe we should consider changing the song that the team runs out to as “Roxette – Join The Joyride!” cause anyone that hasn’t been up the Mol or isn’t quite “getting it” at the minutes, you’ll defo loosing out!
ALMB (Amos lá meus bebês)
Yahoo,
I am not alone in my thinking. My earlier post in reply to Wolfstroker states the same thinking.
The Samba plays on! Enjoy.
One of my litmus tests for whether teams are ready for the next level has always been the ability to completely dominate and brush aside the lower opposition from their league with wins of 4+ goals.
I can’t remember the last time Wolves were able to score 4 or 5 goals in a game. Last year we lost against this team. This year we destroyed them. We demonstrated separation: we are at the top, you are at the bottom. Nothing personal. Just establishing the difference in class. Wolves are preparing for the next level.
I love it!
Keep it up Wolves. Work hard and results will follow.
Go Wolves!
FUCKIN brilliant. WOLVES AY WE. Next time we play the shite there will be panic in Oldbury cos they are fucking shite and always will be. WOLVES AY WE.
Cheesey,
I’m sorry to piss on your chips, but, this may be a long time in coming!
my bet with BET365 before we kicked a ball was = Wolves to win as Champs and sandwell town to be relegated – odds were 118:1 – now Bet365 are offering a cash out at nearly four fold already – so I think they know I’m onto sumot! FOwb
I keep being told that Pullis has never been relegated – well this year will be his first bitter taste of it and then stfc will recruit Mark McGee to head chef to get them out of the Chump & into the 1st….
Like I said, it may be a long time.
LMFAABATAKO
Fantastic win after the loss at the blades,I thought we would win but a clean sheet + 4 goals gotta be happy with that.
A international break beckons so let’s make the most of it ,and rest and be ready for the Vile at the Mol.
Gotta beat them it’s a must.UTW
Don Goodman will be feeling a tad silly today after Leeds latest game , what is it with ex wolves !
Stan collyflower tweeted bring on the derby week
Out of darkness come the villa!!!! Cheeky twat
Marney, Don Goodman is not an ex wolf, he works for Sky (poor sod) so only watches the games hes paid to watch.
I sat directly behind Don and hes son at the Play off final and I can tell you they are both big Wolves fans. They both went ballistic at all three goals like the rest of us.
I can only conclude from his latest statement he hasn’t watch Wolves yet. Wolves are we !!!
His son, Ops!!
P.S. Collymore wasn’t a cheeky twat, He is a” TOTAL TWAT ” of the highest order.
Don Goodman is an ex-Wolves player, or am I going mad? He also works for Sky and more or less tells us what Sky want us to hear. He had to gee the punters up to watch the anticipated thrashing of Sheff Wed by the mighty Leeds. He ‘vos only following orders! He is also a Wolves fan. So far Sky haven’t praised Wolves as they cocked up by not selecting any of our games for TV, therefore we are not on their radar and don’t really exist, and I’m really glad about that.
I went for 4-1 Stupid boy that I am.
I am wearing one of Clive’s grins after the weekend.
Never mind will enjoy picking up the paper from my Leeds supporting newsagent this morning. Contemplating taking him a black armband to wear.
Happy birthday for yesterday Stu.
Good morning guys …..and, yes, the stupid grin is still there.
This is a good time for a break and recharge batteries. More time for Costa to get up to speed.
Happy birthday for yesterday Stu.
Apologies for my sweary blogs last night. I had rather a lot of beer and in celebratory mood. Apologies to Torquay for calling it a shit hole. It is, as was pointed out, quite pleasant.
You? Taking alcohol? I can scarcely believe it. 🙂
Oh dear, if we go on winning you will turn into an alcoholic like me!
Lovely place Torquay Really put on the map by Fawlty Towers. The fantasy football club version of Fawlty Towers FC should have smarmy Moxey in the Basil Fawlty role and Kenny Jackett as poor downtrodden Manuel. And Moxey’s wife could make the pies.
I’m in!
I’m famous!
Or maybe I’m just infamous?
Just seen this on the magnificent Wolves Heroes site (if you’ve never been on there please allow yourself a good few hours as probably like me you’ll start reading one thing and then another and before you know it a couple of hours have passed!);
Monday, September 25: Have been digesting an interesting follow-up to the story we posted yesterday about Wolves’ fortunes in Quiz Ball. David Sims, a Stan Cullis Stand season ticket holder despite living 100 miles away, wrote to say: “I loved Quiz Ball – and have a memory of being a nine-year-old in 1967 and watching the programme as Derek Dougan appeared for Leicester. My dad came in from work that evening with the London Evening News, which said we had signed The Doog, who I loved. I was ecstatic.” David also has recollections of Lady Isobel Barnett sitting alongside the centre-forward as Leicester’s celebrity guest.
Anyone else remember Quiz Ball?
OODCL
Loved it Bedders. I rarely got a ‘route 1’ question right so much preferred route 3 or 4. But never missed it back in the day. Thanks for bringing back a fond memory. 🙂
That’s where the phrase route one football came from ( quizball ) I read it in ” our fathers and other working class heroes ”
What a book !!
Spotted by a friend of mine driving around Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
Just seen on the Beeb news. Our own Nathan Judah was caught up, in a minor way, in the awful shootings in Vegas. Terrible, shocking news. When I went to the gym this morning there were two killed. Now it’s 50. The world is going mad.
We fly out on the 12th so it will be all sorted by then. I hope so as I don’t want to have to get involved in this sort of stuff again.
Cheers Dances. I still watch every repeat showing of Fawlty Towers. A fond memory was when the Major said “I knew a woman once. I took her to see India…. At the Oval”
Great gesture by the Wolves, well as a Scotsman I cerainly appreciate it, coach travel for Norwich away on a Tuesday night after Man Citteee and QPR away is to be free to all fans.
Bless those Chinese, a giveaway instead of a takeaway.
Might even see Clive there.
https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2017/10/02/wolves-lay-on-free-coaches-for-norwich-trip/
We’re off to the ticket office tomorrow to get our money back, we bought our coach travel on Saturday with our tickets.
Nice gesture, last time we had free travel was to Carlisle!
Dog Almighty, Why. WTF
Why can’t people just live together. 1 stupid moron, for whatever reason known only to him, decides to make a name for himself in the most horrific manner possible.
The World is crazy and our thoughts and prayers should all go out to the people of the whole World, because Las Vegas is about people from every nation on the planet going there to relax, chill out and enjoy themselves in an adult manner.
Our very own Nathan Judah of the Express & Star is caught up in the madness, thankfully he is ok and actually was in part responsible for helping some poor old lady caught up in it.
Las Vegas is my single most favourite destination for cillin out, we’ve been there at least 9 times, either working or holidaying because of the adult ambience, it’s adult Disney on a opulent scale.
Love or hate the idea or purpose of Vegas, please spare a thought for the relatives and loved ones of those senselessly murdered by one deranged individual.
RIP, Las Vegas..
We fly out next Thursday. I am sure everything will be okay when we get there.
Never been there Stu but totally agree. There are some seriously fucked up knob heads out there. Barack Obama tried to take on the gun lobby in the USA but failed. They all voted the odious Trump in. Waving the Nazi swastika. What the fuck? (not saying all Trump fans are Nazi by the way)
Trump was for gun control in the past. What changed? He wanted to become president on the Republican ticket, but no chance if he wanted gun control. Priorities count for Trump over principles.
A seven year old boy was at the center of a West Midlands courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court case ruling over who should have custody of him.
The boy had a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible.
The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents the boy cried and said they also beat him.
After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that the domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials,
the judge granted temporary custody to the West Bromwich Albion, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.
Why do everyone who used to come from Blackacre Road think they are comedians?
Wolves speedway in the grand final (again).
Two top riders injured, match away to Swindon, Wolves are underdogs.
Wolves expected to lose the away leg by a large deficit BUT they WON 47-43.
So back to Monmore for the second leg on Wednesday 4th October!!!
So it’s all getting better.. got wolves tv on my laptop with a picture that was perfectly in focus for the whole match and a team
Who were in focus too…
Next up we host the two form teams of the division and that’s fine because next year we should not be quaking in our boots when the likes of arsenal and spurs show up so
Bring on villa and one
It’s a big leap isn’t it in prospect isn’t it?
But as someone has already said , we don’t need to contemplate a future in the PL as ‘survivors’
.. or ‘kill the game baggies’.. we need to be thinking long term as a stylish and yes rugged team that will cause consternation for whomever we face
I know .. it’s a way to go yet …but let’s take 6 points from the next 2 games and make a statement so that 23 teams can realize that they are competing for 2nd place
Yes Marin. Remember our showing at Ashton Gate last season? I tried to encourage you at half time and tell you everything would be alright in the end. Well there, I was right after all. Everything’s alright. 🙂
Its a struggle, I’ll admit, to move away from the dread of hopes shattered…but you were indeed correct in your prediction Wolfstroker (saptc) and slowly but surely I’m starting to believe…
RIP Tom Petty
Another legend joins the great rock band in the sky
Tom Petty was THE coolest dude ever to don a pair of Raybans!
And wrote some great music.
Sadly missed.
He needed a haircut badly though.
Guys, I’m putting on a little (non-football related) charity event in November and it would be great if some of you could attend/donate. Here’s the info:
https://www.wolvesblog.com/thomas-hosting-charity-screening-running-man
I may be going blind Thomas, or daft, but I can’t see anywhere where you specify which charity the donations go to.
Sorry matey. The link on that page takes you through to Whizz Kidz where all is explained, but I’ve added it to the intro blurb now.
In their own words:
“Whizz-Kidz provides disabled children with the essential wheelchairs and other mobility equipment they need to lead fun and active childhoods.”
Many disabled children end up in wheelchairs that don’t meet their specific needs because the cost of specialist equipment is prohibitively expensive and the NHS can only do so much. A more than worthy cause I hope we’d all agree.
In the Burton programme on Saturday, I see Moxey was listed as a director, although the last one named so he could be easily removed. During his too lengthy tenure at Molineux, and I suspect the same at Burton, his efforts never seemed to focus where it really matters, the football on the pitch. So I hope Moxey choked on the outstanding performance from, and the brilliant result for Wolves, and he was lucky the away fans only briefly indicated their displeasure of him. He`s now only a minor irritation from the past.
Exceptional all round performance for me. Does any fellow blogger have the phone number at the club for the free travel, they could maybe pick me up in Chesterfield and drop me off on the way back. Then I can cancel my hotel and overnight train ticket I bought about a month ago, the match ticket I can get Saturday morning.
In reply to Bedder’s earlier question, I certainly do remember Quiz Ball.
Hosted by a (really) young David Vine.
I seem to remember that Ian Ure of Arsenal became a bit of a star on it.
I’ve just found an old bit of footage on the BBC Website.
Check out Ted Moult and his pipe.
Classic stuff!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p02mbcy7/quiz-ball-22121966
And John Barnwell of course!
Brilliant DOOGie – thanks. Now if only you can find some footage of either Wolves or The Doog’s Leicester Quiz Ball team I will love you forever and would even have your babies if that were possible. Its not by the way as I had the snip many years ago so you are quite safe.
Ted’s pipe – brilliant. Such a different age. Amazing how back then footballers had so much more mystique surrounding them due to the fact that, unlike now, we didn’t know what they sounded like as they were not interviewed on TV and equally we didn’t know what their wife was called or looked like – or even if they had a wife – or their kids names or what car they drove or what their house looked like or where they went on holiday or what nightclub they frequented and so much more. I preferred it then to be honest. Take my original hero, the legendary Ron Flowers. The first time I ever heard his voice was when I met him a couple of years ago and this was a man who had captained Wolves, won the league and cup, captained England and been a member of the 1966 World Cup winning squad for goodness sake!
I’m with you on the mystique that surrounded our heroes back in the day.
They were true heroes, to be looked up to, whereas nowadays most are found to be rather less than that due to the so called march of progress of (anti) social media.
I was lucky that the first of my heroes I actually got to chat to was The Doog who came to the Art College to give an informal lecture. He turned out to be a really down to earth sort of guy and whenever I saw him round Wolverhampton afterwards would always say hello and even remembered my name! (I have trouble doing that most of the time).
I’ll have a search for more Quiz Ball footage.
One thing though, if I’m successful and you really want my babies, the fact that you’ve had the snip doesn’t count.
I haven’t and I’m not firing blanks!
Better to give than to receive.
Boom boom, or should it be bum, bum.
To be quite frank, I aint got a clue what this Quiz Ball thingy is about. Must be before my time.
Just seen sky list of live games in Nov and Dec. I don’t think wolves are there.
Oh why doth they hateth us so.
Let’s hope we’re about six points clear at the top by then just to make them doubt their judgement a little.
Submitted 0-3 to the Wolves last Saturday against Burton…bloody team always lets me down.(TIC)
The less we are on the telly, and the more we are under the radar, the better.
Then, Nuno’s Army will terrorize, marmalize and paralyze the opposition.
Like a good seduction, we don’t want our choicest parts exposed too soon!
It seems that we will sign Jota on a permanent deal in January.
That will be a pretty decent late Christmas present for us all.
I just hope they remember to include the Sanity Clause.
Don’t tell me there isn’t one!
They reckon you guys in Wiltshire have “powedered snow” at Christmas time, methinks youv’e been using it Doogie. Are you after Brucie’s vacant spot after his sad passing.
Happy birthday Stu
Great win sat
Sky have obviously got the arse with us for some reason there loss
Know ones really knows how well we are playing which is good and are players are not on view, let’s just keep plugging away take two points a game and get out of this league and shift our great club to bigger and better things, can anyone hear that champions league music playing
We had a lot of Sky exposure for a few seasons and a fat lot of good that did us. I’m all for staying under the radar now and quietly getting promoted. Let’s keep our quality as well hidden as possible.
I see Morgan has admitted that he made mistakes at the Wolves when he owned it. Johnston & O’Hara big money failures 2 managers Solbaken & Saunders wrong choices. At least he acknowledges what we all thought at the time.
Wish he had recognised that a few years earlier.
Agree with you Tipton …but would add ..that for an owner sitting on 3/4 of a billion pounds in his bank account….his investments in players was frankly dire …
Sorry but I see this press from him as trying to excuse himself for the wasted years…..
How FOSUN have a much clearer and determined view of where they are going ….UPWARDS..
I agree Twixo – I read the article this morning and to be honest it made my blood boil to hear that obnoxious, small minded, money grabbing little so and so go on about how in effect he had done a great job for the club and how we all ought to be grateful to him. The word ‘deluded’ sprang to mind.
Morgan represents how small minded British culture has become.
He is poor compared to Fosun.
In fact the best thing he did for Wolves was sell the club to them.
getting my vocal chords in tune for the Man City cup tie, now that I have a ticket!!
Hey hey hey the’re magic, you know, Jota, Costa, Leo…….
I love this season so far.
Just read the morgan interview… the utter drivel that comes out of that mans mouth.
We nearly lost the molineux.. bollocks . Morgan you tried to threaten the council to sell you the freehold by saying you would move and leave the ground derelict … an old developers trick.
When they would only give you a long lease you decided to sell there and then but not before using the clubs money to re develop a stand that didn’t need doing to increase the value.
And as for the academy you had to build a new one so you could get your hands on the prime land the old one was sitting on to build your housing estate.
You really do think we were all born yesterday ..horrible greedy man
Well said spikeyboy. Couldn’t believe the nerve of the man when I read the article. He tried to play us for fools virtually the whole time he was here and even now cannot see, or can but refuses to acknowledge it, what everyone else could – invest money in the club and invest it wisely, take the fans with you instead of treating them like idiots and you will have a magnificent thing to behold and that will bring riches beyond your wildest dreams. he was always too small-minded and short-alighted more interested in the money he could fleece out of the club. Like you say the academy is a perfect example of his smoke and mirrors act – makes out like he did us a favour when in reality he was just lining his own pockets.
Well put Spikey mate .. I was being polite ..but you have said it exactly how it was … vile man… good riddance …poor Sir Jeck would be shocked at how he’s been stitched up with all of this..
Still, I believe what goes around comes around …Morgan …you’ll get you come uppance…..
Twix,
I’m sure we’ll remember him paying is fiver for the club on the front of the E&S and on TV, his commitment to invest as on Sir Jacks terms of sale!
If we could look at the books I’m sure it would show that investment – BUT and it’s a very very big BUT – the housing estate, the Cow Shed and other midlands deals were only available to him due to our beloved WWFC
To me he was and always will be a Stinking Scouse L’pool fan that couldn’t get enough money to buy his beloved team (even with the likes of Phil Thomo and other in a consortium)
Therefore, the day he handed the keys over to Geoff/Fosun should be written in the annals of our history
In Fosun we trust, in big M little organ we never could trust!
COMB, FOwb
My sentiments too rickrack….
And …… Moxey is where he belongs at a club where they have a shit last name.
Fat greasy toe rag. I wonder how long he will be there before he gets the elbow.
How long will he be there? 16 years probably if he has anything to do with it but mind you Norwich rumbled him in five minutes. Amazingly one Wolves fan suggested Moxey left Wolves because he could see the whole Fosun takeover ending in disaster. No, Fosun rumbled him as well.
Heard from an old friend today who was at the Newcastle v Liverpool game. The company he works for is international and major investors in it include Fosun. Small world! He knows that Fosun were interested in buying Newcastle before they bought Wolves last year. Newcastle had just been relegated. We can count ourselves lucky that Fosun bought us instead. He also knows that Qatari money is interested in Newcastle now via the same agent who set up the Man City purchase, Amanda Staveley.
A Sandwell Town supporting family were out shopping and ended up in a sports shop. Little Baz suddenly puts on a Wolves shirt and says to his sister ‘Look, I’m a Wolves fan!’ His sister slaps him across the face and orders him to show their Mum.
He wanders over to his Mum and says “Mum look, I’m a Wolves fan”. His Mum also slaps him across the face and orders him to show his Dad. He finds his Dad and says “Dad, Dad,… I’m a Wolves fan”. His Dad looks at him and then he also slaps him across the face.
On their way home in the car his Dad turns to him and say “Well we hope you’ve learned something today” to which little Baz replies “Yeah, I’ve only been a Wolves fan for twenty minutes and I already hate you Albion bastards”.
OODCL
So I was as bored as the rest of you watching the supposed best players in England.
If Portuhampton had played them, we would have declared at half time!
What a monotonous, ponderous, dimwitted side.
How Sterling minces his way into the team is beyond me. Well it’s not actually, but this is a family show.
Dog help them in Russia, quickest surrender and exit since Dunkirk!!
The England national team effectively died in 1992 when the Premier League was created and money took over as the dominant feature of English football.
When 80% of a nation’s top clubs are foreign owned, 80% are foreign managed/coached and have 80% foreign players we perhaps shouldn’t be too surprised that the national team are only 20% as good as they once were. If that!
We now have athletes ‘gracing’ the England team – plenty who are big, strong and powerful and plenty who are lightning quick but as far as I can see there isn’t a footballer amongst them.
p.s. Dunkirk wasn’t a surrender it was a tactical withdrawal!
Love your last bit mate. Dunkirk was most certainly a tactical withdrawal.
Keep forgetting, Bedders, you have first hand knowledge of that time in history!!!
Now that is just plain cheeky young man. I am and always have been interested in WW2 not least because my Dad and his brothers served in it – my Dad was in Burma fighting the Japanese in the jungle. My children don’t, cannot or probably shouldn’t understand my feelings towards the Japanese and Germans. On that note here are two names for anyone to google and be horrified at the depths to which mankind sunk during that evil period in history. Lidice and the Wereth Eleven.
I like, yourself, have an interest in that period too. But, as having served from 1973 to 2007, I have been involved in operational service in NI, Gulf war, Bosnia, Iraq and served with the UN in Cyprus at the time of the movement (1977 and again in 1989) so my knowledge of and actual involvement in the progression of warfare and the significant changes on how we “played our part” is quite significant. What intrigues me the most, is whilst we predominantly undertook a FIBUA type role in NI and also similar role in Bosnia, it was the actual urban war fighting that took place in Iraq and Afghanistan that made me think about our fathers and grandfathers who were involved in the two world wars. A completely different type of warfare that we see today, and without the technical and material support that our current troops have available. I respect and admire their bravery.
Got a comma in the wrong place grrrrrrrrr.
For those worthy folk who worry about a comma in the wrong place and stuff like that, there’s a very funny book about grammar. It’s called Eats, Shoots & Leaves.
The wrong grammar can easily change the whole meaning of the words.
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t a lot of people support Morgan’s approach to running Wolves debt free? People were bragging about our fiscal position. Now people are saying he should have gone into debt and tried to get promoted and get the Premier League riches.
People were also buying into the “put in a shift” mentality of Mick, which now seems obsolete.
Were the majority of us buying into that Tim? I beg to differ. The majority of people I spoke to about Morgan were not at all content for us to be debt free whilst the playing staff were dire. Yes, they liked the debt free bit but questioned his commitment and lack of player purchase.
Also, once again, the majority of people I spoke to felt that the “put a shift in” mentality was a somewhat bland statement. EVERYONE should put a shift in, but what was discussed was aside from that being the necessary requirement, we needed to secure quality players, thus referring back to Morgan’s inability to move us forward.
I obviously cannot speak for the majority of the fans, but I can state that this was the consensus of the majority of fans I spoke to.
Don’t know where you got that information from, but it certainly surprises me as that is most certainly not the impression I got.
Don’t think so Tim. In the winter of our discontent (double relegation) the only slightly-silver lining was that we were debt-free. Big deal. Therefore we weren’t about to “do a Portsmouth”. No sane fan ever wanted us to be debt-free at the expense of success on the pitch, repeat, at the expense of success on the pitch. Nor would any sane CEO, but we didn’t have one of those. By the same token Mick’s physical approach would be bought into for a limited time as long as it brought success on the pitch. A shrewder owner than Morgan would have replaced Mick as soon as decently possible in the PL.
You’re not Steve Morgan in disguise are you?
Agreed Dances, plus can any forgive the fact that when Mad Mick was sacked we were promised “a premier league manager” – then we had clip-board!
FFS
As Jamie Lawson sang “I wasn’t expecting that”
Clipboard wasn’t expecting that either.
Aren’t you referring to Moxey…?….everyone I know craved success, leadership, financial support and determination to get Wolves into the PL …and stay there.
From the very outset Morgan declared that he would not invest .. any of his own money..(allegedly)….
A hypothetical continuation of Morgan’s policy would have seen us stagnate and never reach the goal….. Fosuns policy will achieve this goal AND be fiscally better off…..let’s wait and judge this over the same timespan that Morgan had ….so that we can ALL judge who we’d prefer as custodians…..
Me ….. FOSUN EVERY TIME…
The main comment about Morgan that I remember is:-
“We would have the most fiscally sound run club in the second division, supported by massive crowds of 5,000 supporters every week”.
I must have been reading different blogs than you.
I considered Morgan’s words, and came to the conclusion that the only thing missing was a short-arsed dwarf shouting “The plane, the plane!”
Now I don’t wish I’ll of the bloke, I’ve never born grudges, but by the same token I’d rather he kept these sort of pronouncements for Eamon Andrews, or whoever is doing This is Your Life, these days cos I didn’t watch it and thereon wouldn’t have to hear it.
That’s about all I have to say on the matter. I’m far more interested in the new owners and the fantastic squad of players they have invested in to all our delight and more power to them! This is the future and what we must enjoy and concentrate on; not the ramblings of those ratbags M & M.
UTW
Anyone who hasn’t already read this interview with Laurie Dalrymple should make it a priority.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuS5da4mbjg
What a refreshing change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good man yerself Laurie. Tell it like it is.
Next time your offering a pint, mine’s a Banks’ Bitter.
And, I think Tim must have been reading other blogs because we were almost as one, unless my memory has really gone pop, in our condemnation of the way Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee were running this club.
Or even ‘WATCHED’ this interview.
You never did understand what you were reading on that watch of yours.
It is an old saying (nearly as old as me actually) but players, managers, chairmen, CEO’s etc come and go but us fans are here for life. The three M’s are all history and we move on. I will never forget the reply I got to a letter I wrote to Moxey where he asked me if I had ever been to watch Wolves as he couldn’t find any proof of it – the fat greasy twat. I remember the Bhatti era and how close we came to going out of business. This new regime are a breath of fresh air. They have put their money where there mouth is and they will get us to the promised land. Sir Jack sold the club to MoreGain for a tenner and he laughed all the way to the bank didn’t he ? Me and Sue went to Southampton and we are going to Man City and we can’t wait to be visiting these stadiums week in week out in The Premier League. Morgan is history, we move on.
SO, In the event of nothing much happening on the blog I have devised a little competition to keep us all entertained.
SO, Any suggestions as to what might be happening to ‘SO’ Tim Spiers in this collection of pictures and what he might be saying will be welcomed.
SO, I will buy the winner of the best suggestion, in the opinion of the judges, a pint in the APV next Saturday if they fancy dropping in. Anyone who doesn’t, I’ll buy them a pint in the North Bank bar on the day of Bedders’ Bash.
SO, that’s it for now.
SO long.
1. FIFTY BLOOMIN QUID !
2. OH GO ON THEN
3. THAT’S NICE.
4.I HAVE A CONFESSION I’M SKINT
1. Hello Mr Tim …you like nice Chinese massage?
2. How much will that be and can I have all the extras?
3. That feels so good…..
4. Oh Mr Tim …. I can see that you like the happy ending I promised you….
What he’s doing is simple to answer. He’s trying to get a passport photo in the Co-Op photo booth on Bushbury Road (ps he’s often seen in there 10 mins before closing buying the “reduced items”
1 well it’s taken my money when will it take the 1st phoooooo – FFS
2 Ok ready – I wish there was a countdown to when it’s about to take a phoooooo – ohh FFS again!
3 FFS – fek me 60 secs between 1st & 2nd – then 5 seconds for the third flash – feeling machine
4 Bolox – I wasn’t ready for that one either & I’ve spend my daily allowance so can’t get passport now to go on next seasons pre-season in China – double bolox
Just spotted Colin and he’s wolves flag behind the goal, and England are now copying Wolves tactics. ?
On the subject of Grammar.
Hey stu … just been watching that laurie darymple interveiw , youre right , he seems a great asset to wolves . But what excactly were the mat h day changes that wolves and the ouncil are going to implement as discussed atfans parliment ?
It wasnt clear … i could only deduce they could be terrorist related road closeures, do you have any intel for us long distance fans ?
They are closing Waterloo road from the Goalpost pub to New Hampton road traffic lights, this is not temporary it is permanent, it starts with the Villa game. Road closes 90 minutes prior to match and 30 minutes after.
Council are paying for it, putting temporary measures until Spring then I think we shall see bollards that recess into the road when not in operation.
It affects absolutely no-one, except drivers who park illeagaly to drop off and pick up at the game causing havoc at the moment. It will give pedestrians traffic free movement at the right times.
Cheers stu . .So people can still park at the goal posts then . I can still drive up the waterloo road ( stafford end ) but not down it from the subway?
Spot on, but remember the goalpost will be more popular through area’sbeing closed so get there a tad earlier.
Thanks stu . Maybe see you on saturday in the NBBar
Tim Spiers pictures – surely it’s obvious isn’t it? These photos were taken just before the Fosun takeover. Tim was to be the first to interview the new owners. In the top two pictures and the bottom left he is desperately practising his Cantonese dialect in preparation for interviewing Jeff Shi. The remaining picture (bottom right) is just after someone told him Jeff speaks better English than him. Doh!
1. You’re going to put that where?
2. I don’t think so.
3. Oooouuuucccchhhhh!
4. It’s really nice, actually, but needs more vaseline.
I have been overwhelmed by the number of entries to the ‘SO’ Tim Spiers competition.
You can imagine that the judging was incredibly difficult.
In the end however, the panel were unanimous in awarding the first prize to RickRack wolves for his very accurate description of the actual event I was depicting.
There was a fifth picture of Tim lighting up a well known brand of cigar with a soundtrack of Bach’s ‘Hair on a G string’ in the background. Unfortunately, he was asked to leave at that moment by the Co-op security staff as he was becoming a fire hazard.
But, in the true spirit of Fosun, on the side of the fans, the organisers of the competition have decided to buy pints for EVERY ONE OF THE ENTRANTS!
To be claimed at the venues and times stated above.
This offer is non transferrable and photo ID will be required.
Preferably taken at the Co-op passport booth on Bushbury Road.
So, is it too late to enter?
Yo fekin yooooooooooooooooooo,
Doog, I have to say that this award was a complete surprize based on the talented contributions that were on offer, but I’d have been happy coming in the top five!
I also have to start by saying I hold this competition as the one I really wanted to win (Fek the euro-millions, that was only money) and wanted to be truly judged by my peers (but not by Peers Morgan incase he was related to Greddy Scouse twazza)
I should also like to thank all my family for their continued support of this competetion, my manager – yes Nuno needs a mention, my dogs, my bro-in-law Webbo Wolves – you haven’t heard from him yet and he’s much funnier! and not forgetting anyone that knows me, did know me, wants to know me or couldn’t give a flying fek if they know me!
To claim my prize, I’ll probs go for Bedders Bash as I won’t get to Mol until 4.30 on Sat and I don’t want to have to rush that pint!
A bostin’ acceptance speech!
See you at the bash. I’ll be the one trying to fade into the background.
Yo, Doogle
Is my air fare included in the prize money???
Wolves have got another 550 tickets for the Man City game. Going on sale this week to STH’s only.
Season ticket sales are being suspended after the Villa game.
It’s beginning to look a lot like the Premier.
Congratulations to Ireland for a typically gritty win in Cardiff. Hennessey at fault for the goal, his distribution putting Wales under immediate pressure. If he and Afobe can’t pull off the rats deserting the sinking ship routine in January, they will be playing in the championship next season and we won’t. The irony of that…
Personally, I wouldn’t want to deny Benik the character-building experience of relegation by bringing him to the Mol’.
Nor me. The poor lamb needs a spell away from the big boys to get his mojo back. £12mil? They’re having a laugh!
Really good interview with Leo Bonatini. Seems to have his feet planted firmly on the ground and his eyes on the ultimate prize.

Not to try and court controversy or anything but………………………………….

Oh bring back my Benik to me, to me

Oh bring back my Benik to me!

Wonder how Lionel Messi would do as a commentator?
If Peru and Ecuador win their games tonight, that’s all he will be doing next summer, along with Masherhino, Suarez and Angle of Maria!!!
Oscar wants to return to Europe from China, JUST SAYING Jeff & Nuno.
He would fit in seamlessly with our guys.
Come on Jeff stop all this shite about ADOBE he’s a joke, sign a real player.
Statement of intent or what,
Sure, Adobe was a flash player, but if you want trophies, it has to be Oscar. 🙂
Yeah, but if poor little rich boy Oscar wants to get out of China after such a short time, it probably means he’s pissed off, or upset, or insulted the Chinese. If that’s the case, Jeff should not consider him at all.
Don’t bite the feed that hands you, and all that.
Ant rode, we don’t want Chelski cast offs.
Let him go to sandwell, I”m sure poolis can drive any remaining football skill right out of him!!
Ant rode??
WTF?
Any road!!
Damn fat fingers
Three fat fingers of red eye may be . FOWB.
Personally I would love Afobe back. His style of play would suit ours. When he joined us in January he was brilliant for the remainder of the season. We ALL loved him. The following season he was lied to – Sako would be replaced regardless of the cost said Moxey – and misused by Jackett so became disillusioned and left. At Bournemouth he has had injuries and is surrounded by largely poor players, certainly no-one of the calibre of Jota, Neves or Costa. I think he would be a superb signing.
200!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Afobe was great for us in the championship but like SEB I think he can’t quite make the step up to the PL. Eddie Howe is a good coach and if he can’t get more out of Afobe in the PL then Nuno won’t either when the time comes. Afobe’s card has been marked by PL defenders. For £12 mil or so I’d rather we unearthed a gem of a striker from the Mendes stable.
Or use it to sign Jota for ten years!!!
Regarding strikers,I’m sure Nuno’s on the case,so I’m not to worried.
We’ve come thus far without a prolific goal scorer and with Costa back we must be happy.
Wouldn’t surprise me if we sold Marshall and Zyro in January and from the proceeds brought in a gem of a striker under the radar.
We’ve all got exited with our new players to the extent that we are almost overlooking how well we have done on the selling side. £3.5mil for Dicko, who cost us £300K. And, he’s misfiring at Hull, hardly getting game time. Add in good money for Edwards, Bod, Saville etc., and out net overall expenditure begins to look very modest compared to the talent we have assembled.
You have to hand it to Nuno. He knows when to buy, but he also knows when to sell.
Messi wants a new challenge next year. Just saying.
