What a legend! I was mascot Vs Stoke City when we won 2-0, both Bully headers from Steve Froggatt crosses if I remember rightly (was only 11 at the time!)

p.s. a day of high demotion on the Wolvesblog. Tales of defending the club's honour in land afar, a blast from the past with a letter from a Wolves legend...

Good stuff Thomas and Ben! Bodes well for tomorrow when I fully expect "Wolvesblog readers asked to pick team by MM" to be the first headline.

I can just about remember that Arsenal game at Villa Park (that quater final at Leeds is still one of the best games of my time, Goodman, Segars and all that, still got the pull out from the E&S somewhere) and if segeley hadn't ducked maybe we could've beat them on pens. Reckon we could've had Newcastle in the final too

Very interesting about having to sell him and Keano to balance the books, only to lavish Dave Jones with millions of pounds in 2002.
While I will always love Sir Jack for establishing us as a force, writing off our debts etc, I wonder what business plan he ever had in place for us.

So while Froggy wasn't given a new deal, Adie Williams, Steve Sedgley etc were coining it in. Seems utterly bizarre.

What a shame we never saw Keano up top with Miller / Blake / Sturridge, with Froggy flying down the wing, vying with Kennedy.
I'd say we'd have definitely have gone up that year, with or without Kennedy's injury at the back end of the season and Muscat's red.

I had a pop at him in the comments to the original post, so fair play to him for getting in touch and helping put the record straight. I shall now eat some humble pie!

I remember that semi-final against Arsenal at Villa Park - In his autobiography, Tony Adams said it was "men against boys". Steve Claridge played for up front for us alongside Robbie Keane, with Bully on the bench! In his autobiography, Claridge says McGhee had lost the plot by then. It always annoys me when people say of Claridge "he'd score goals anywhere" He didn't score for us! (Incidentally, both Adams's and Claridge's books are ghosted by Ian Ridley and well worth a read.)

How cool must it be to play golf with Bully, Thommo, David Kelly and Don Goodman? (A guy I used to work with who had met him a few times always said Don Goodman was a top bloke, which comes across when you hear him on the radio).

Froggy's definitely gone up in my estimation by getting in touch. How many footballers would bother to do that without anything in it for him.
