Football Aid 2013

Wolves Blog are once again helping to promote the Football Aid initiative, which gives fans the chance to play at Molineux whilst raising money for a wonderful cause. Over to Conor from the charity itself.

Play-at-Molineux-1024x394

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC have once again shown magnificent support and joined forces with Football Aid, allowing football fans the opportunity to grace the hallowed turf and play on their Field of Dreams at Molineux in 2013, while at the same time raising funds for charity.

Our magical event allows Wolves supporters to ‘Live the Dream’ in an authentic match day experience. Players will gain exclusive access to the pitch and tunnel areas, pull on their own personalised shirt in the official changing rooms, walk down the tunnel to the sound of a cheering crowd and ultimately to step out on the hallowed turf and represent their club in a never to be forgotten 90 minutes of football.

The matches have also been supported by a host of Wolves legends, with the likes of Matt Murray, Lee Naylor, Rob Edwards, Don Goodman, Andy Mutch, Robbie Dennison, David Kelly, Jon Purdie and many more all lending their valuable support in recent years, by playing alongside or managing the supporters in the hugely enjoyable matches at Molineux.

Getting involved couldn’t be easier, just visit www.footballaid.com, select Wolverhampton Wanderers and your position, then place your bid – it really is that simple. And with most starting bids for positions at just £175, booking a position could turn out to be the best bargain you’ll ever bag! Bidding is open from now until the middle of March, depending on what position you want to play.

So if you’re keen to secure your place on your Field of Dreams this season, why not visit www.footballaid.com today to make sure you’re part of the team! Alternatively if you’d like any additional information, you can call Football Aid on 0131 220 5999 or email info@footballaid.com.

Football Aid celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2010 and have allowed over 13,000 football fans the chance to “Live the Dream” in more than 500 matches. They are a groundbreaking organisation which generates funds annually by hosting charity football matches at iconic stadiums all over the UK. The unique concept was the brainchild of businessman and Football Aid Chairman Craig Paterson and funds raised from the event will benefit the work of a charitable project nominated by the club, as well as projects nominated by Football Aid’s parent charity Field of Dreams.

I’m going to bid …left back position . I’m a very young 55 [ the new 25 ] , still have a little pace and awareness of where I should be and when .

Training starts tomorrow , a pint or so less a day to start with . Please support me by not competing for this position !!

What with contracts the way they are these days , I might just impress Deano ….

    Forever , UTW ….

I have just read karl henry interview. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2013/02/11/karl-henry-insists-wolves-are-too-good-to-go-down/
What an arogant idiot. I cant believe he has publicly come out and blamed sako for tge penalty. Once again, the problem can from the leftside of the defence where berra abd ward play. All the mistakes that berra, ward, johnson, foley have made and henry singles out sako. Maybe its a case of looking who to blame and you cant blame one of the cliques. So lets blame one of the new boys, who has bern brilliant for their furst season in a very tough league. A bit a jealousy karl, cus sako can go forwards, not just backwards and sidewards, you fuckin crab!

    • You are bang on my friend what an absolute ignorant thing for KH to say. First of all its an indicment of our defence that Sako had to be there anyway, let alon make the tackle. We employ other deadbeats to do this. OK I guess good old “Wardy” had made an attacking run but good backs get back or others move across to cover.

Frankly how many times over the past two years did we see Jarvis having to do Wards job.

I just cant beleive he said we are to big to go down. Karl its real simple if you dont win games you get relegated it dont matter who you are. Something is horribly wrong in our dressing room.

If you think of all the mistakes our defence have made, and all the goals we have conceeded from shots from the edge of the box where our defensive midfielders have not given cover to our central defenders, for our captain to come out and blame sako is shocking. Captain karl, there are plenty of players to blame before you single out sako. How about blaming ebanks blake for not being able to get back onside when he has wobbled to close someone down. We win the ball back and then give it straight back as blake cant be arsed to get back onside. Come on kalvin, what do you think about that

    • that’s the problem AlfWhite more unadulterated passion for wolves in us old gits than the self-absorbed playing rubbish on the pitch. Maybe….just…..maybe.

Football Aid is a brilliant experience, and makes loads of money for charity too. Fair play to Wolves for this, they’ve always supported it really well.

I played (left back as it happens) about ten years ago, in a team captained by Bully and managed by Steve Froggatt. I was crap on the whole much like our current left back, but I did manage to get up the wing and send over the perfect cross which Bully duly converted :-)

It was great value, for a great experience – you get the full treatment, getting into the changing rooms to find your kit with name on back laid out like yur just about to get ready for the biggest game of the season. You get changed into the full kit that is your’s as part of the deal, then its out for light training/warming up session on the pitch before you’re back in for a teamtalk.
Then its out there playing the game where your heroes have weaved their magic over the years (current crop aside). I was knackered within 5 minutes, thinking that I could still get up and down the wing all game like back in my Sunday League days. I kept trying to get around but was admittedly shite for most of the game. That cross though, it’ll live in the memory for a long time, and I’ll always be able to talk about the day Bully notched one for Wolves at Molineux from my cross (it was also against Wolves to be fair).
After the game its back into the changing rooms, using the players showers once back in your civvies, its up to the players lounge for an evening of drinks with your heroes. All the ex players appear to really enjoy the day too.

I really can’t praise it highly enough, I would recommend it to any fan, even if you’re going to be walking around the pitch and a complete liability for your team, you’ll love it and its played in great spirits throughout.

I think the present “players” should be made to watch when all this happens, to see the passion that is out there, hopefully to get inside their arrogant heads that it is this passion which keeps us going, and what used to drive the real players of old.
Perhaps, just perhaps, it might sink in and do some good.
But I doubt it, they are all far too wrapped up their own arses to change.
And to cap it all, fuckin’ a….. went and won at Anfield, and like a tosser I sat and watched it live.
Note to self….get a fuckin’ life!!

I’m still absolutely incandescent (that’s a big word for 8.50 on a Tuesday morning) with rage over the Wolves ‘tough times’ video.
Do they think that we are all stupid? – Don’t answer, it’s a rhetorical question.
I have been on the you tube page and left the message almost word for word that I put on the last blog.
In case you didn’t get a chance to read it, here it is.

This is the worst sort of propaganda pap!
    A short video saying:-
“We have made a complete horlicks over the last two seasons, we apologise unreservedly and we plan to put it right by getting rid of the rubbish as soon as we can and getting in some players whose skills match the so-called ambitions of the club no matter what it costs – Oh yes and the man mainly responsible for it is on his bike”. – would have been rather more appropriate.

It is at present being held for ‘uploader approval’ – what does anybody think the chances are of it being published???!!!

  9. If I had the cash, I’d probably bid for the Left Wing Position. Sounds like a fantastic cause! Live a dream running around like a lunatic on the pitch on molineux in a wolves shirt! Is anyone on the blog seriously considering it? I’d sponsor one of our members a couple of quid if they were ;)

Can I make a request that we keep the comments about the charity here though? I know we’re all pretty worked up about the current situation at the club but seems to detract from a worthy cause here and there’s still the leeds reaction thread to have the football discussions in?

  10. We are going down! Why ? The Facts! We have the worst form record in any of the leagues.
Every other manager has had an impact, Dean hasn’t. We have made no new signings to ‘freshen’ things up. Does anyone here think the performances have really got better! If you do you are kidding yourselves, we haven’t won in nearly ten games. What will change over the next fourteen games? Will we become brilliant?!!

If we get relegated lets call it a day with Dean and get Nigel Adkins in, but i somehow doubt it, because even though he is quality, he won’t come cheap. I have not joined other’s who have moaned about our owner and CEO, but if they are honest with themselves, they should look in the mirror and hang their heads. Remember, Mick wanted Sidwell, was offered Demba Ba, he wanted Popov or Ridgewell, he went for Scott Dann, all denied. Why – a Poundland mentality.

The owner has, is, building great facilities for a football future, but is ignoring the present and refuses to learn from the past. Until this happens all i can see is a continuation of what’s happening now. If we carry on like this, cocooned in an arrogant strait-jacket of superiority without learning anything, we may yet struggle in league 1!!! I apologise for the melancholy nature of the note, but i am just exasperated with the seeming indifference of the Wolves hierarchy. Yes i will still see them in League 1, but i can’t pretend i will enjoy it.
