Five for Clive

As many of you will know our good friend Clive from Houston had his home devastated by Hurricane Harvey last week.

A no-holds barred colossus of the comment section, Clive is actually one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet, as anyone will testify whose come along to our end of season socials.

It will be impossible to replace many of the personal possessions lost I’m sure but fellow Stateside Wolves supporter Paul Lappage has setup a GoFundMe page, which I really want to get behind.

So for the man who always predicts 5-1, I thought it might be nice if we all chucked in $5 to buy him a pint of Boddingtons as an act of solidarity.

You can access the GoFundMe page by clicking here.

  1. AmberWolf says:

Clive, when you get chance to read the comments that will surely follow I hope it will bring you some small comfort to know that across that Atlantic in ol’Blighty there’s a bunch of people linked by a football team that are here to support you when you need it.

I’m sorry to hear that your precious mementoes and life have been turned upside down. I too know how that feels back in 2009 my home town Cockermouth was badly flooded and we suffered greatly during the next 12-18 months.

I shall send you some cash and hope you will keep us in the loop as things improve.

    Best wishes

  2. Brompto' says:

I agree wholeheartedly with what you have said and if you donate $5.00, I will donate the other $1.00

Joking aside, what a fantastic gesture. I’m in.

  6. basherbaz says:

I’m in All the best Clive

  7. Steve Showcase says:

I’ll gladly donate for a good paddle or hand pump…
    Stay strong fenceman..just jesting….

  8. Newark Wolves (There's only one Carl Ikeme) says:

Lovely gesture Thomas, Sue and I will gladly send a fiver each. Only met the guy once but he was the first person to speak to us at The APV a few years ago. Our thoughts are with you mate, stay strong.
    Ian & Sue

  9. Bedford Wolf (my wife's a quarter Portuguese y'know) says:

    I’m in of course.

My only question is who the hell is Clive?

  10. theDOOGooder says:

A great idea Thomas, and I would usually be happy to donate.

But I think you’ll find he owes me a couple of pints from the time he was over here and scooted back to the US without telling anyone because he was homesick for Marla and his dogs.

    The old softie!!

But, to show solidarity with the rest of us, I will let him off those beers he owes me.

    Can’t say fairer than that.

    …Well, one of them anyway.

    • theDOOGooder says:

I’ve just been told by the PMDG’er that the Ann Summers nurses outfit stays firmly in the naughty drawer until I agree to stump up some dosh.

      So, reluctantly, I’m in too.

I don’t know why I’m bothering really, it never fitted me anyway.

  11. DancesWithWolves says:

Gutted to hear that Houston became Venice, Clive. I’ve just made my $5 donation. Funnily enough my credit card is not in my Wolves blog name. Who would have guessed. I inserted my Wolves blog name in the comment section so that you know it’s from me and not from Jorge Mendes!

Enjoy your pint. You bloody well deserve a few.

  12. sevlow (Carl we are behind you) says:

A great cause. Clive, Just remember that even if you are an old bugger who moans and groans a lot we still like you (well, sort of). To that extent I have found it in my black heart to contribute to your beer fund, Please use it wisely. By that I mean get well pissed.

    All the best Clive

  13. Bedford Wolf (We're all with you Carl) says:

Actually looking again at Clive’s photograph I have another question. Clive and Rolf Harris – you never see them in the same place at the same time do you?

  14. ExiledWolf (we're all with you Clive) says:

Lovely idea Thomas. I was wondering about a suitable gesture for Clive – not not the two finger one. I’ll gladly chip in.

Clive – those scenes on the telly were horrendous, but nothing like what you must be facing for real. Barbara and I wish you all the very best over the next few months.

  15. RickRack (We're still all with you Carl) Wolves says:

    Dear Clive,
Not sure you can get Bonks’s over the pond(s)…..
Therefore I’m in for $5 and hope you can get a beer from a high peak tap house.
    PS, please drink irresponsibly
PPS, great transfer tweet from big Carl yesterday – keep it up mucka…..

    FOwb, Harvey, blues & vile

  16. Bedford Wolf (We're all with you Carl) says:

Welcome to the world Stanley George Sims.

Our grandchild number 3 and the first child for our Wolves supporting eldest son Daryl and his wife Jen.

Another Wolves supporter to add to the pack.

If he turns out even as quarter as good as a certain Stanley Cullis he will have done ok.

Proud faces on – no sniffling in the ranks!

    • Brompto' says:

Congratulations mate. I only have two, and they are both treasures.

    • Newark Wolves (There's only one Carl Ikeme) says:

Congratulations Dave to you and your family from me and Sue. We only have one grandchild but we are a lot younger than you old fella.

  17. All the best…Paul Featherstone AD 67.

  18. Bedford Wolf (We're all with you Carl) says:

Is it just me or does anyone else look at the picture of Clive at the top of the article and immediately start thinking about having a pot of tea?

  19. Mark G Davies says:

Watcha Clive. The mptto of the great footy team we both love is of course . Things always get better, hope it doesn`t take too long after Harvey moves on. Catch you early next week. Say hi to Marla from both Rona and moi. xx

  20. DancesWithWolves says:

    Stay strong Clive.
Come on guys, we’re nearly there. $425 raised of the $500 target. Any chance of wee Donny Trump coughing up the extra? He says he’s gonna donate $1mil of his personal fortune to the Houston flood victims and he’s asked for suggestions.

Thought you might like to see this story that Hull have mad a major blunder in signing Dicko: Link here

  21. It’s something you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy, but to a cuddly little Teddy Bear like Clive. Life can be so unfair. If a few bucks can help the sun shine through the dark clouds then count me in. I’m on it.

  22. Bedfordshire Old Gold says:

Will do – all the best Clive. What a nightmare.

On a (much) lighter note many congrats to BW and family.

  23. theDOOGooder says:

Congratulations Dave on becoming a grandaddy again.

You barely look old enough to be a dad, let alone a grand dad.

You must have been a child bride!

    • Bedford Wolf (my wife's a quarter Portuguese y'know) says:

Thank you. I have to say though that I never realised you were a VIP (visually impaired person) though to be fair I was indeed a child bride – Mrs BW’s father was barely old enough to hold the shotgun.

  24. Bedford Wolf (We're all with you Carl) says:

There is a saying “I wasn’t born yesterday”.

    Well I was.

So far I’ve already learned three things.

1 it is VERY hot here in Dubai

2 I am a Wolves fan (my Dad & Grandad say so)

3 Clive is a top bloke and so I’ve just donated my pocket money, which as I am only one day old I don’t actually have yet of course, to the cause.

Stanley George William Sims (aka Bedford/Liverpool/Dubai Wolf Jnr.)

  25. Harvey from Houston says:

    Congratulations, Bedders old chap.
    I hope he has Julie’s looks, ………….and Julie’s brains!!
Enjoy your holiday, make the most of hot showers, hot meals, beds, and lots of sleep. Yes,sleep.

  26. Twixxo says:

Wotcha Clive and of course Marla..
We’re in Costa Brava at the moment spending the dollars I had earmarked for you… so I’ll have to send some English wonga when we get back… will FaceTime soon mucka…. xxx from both of us

  27. Bedford Wolf (We're all with you Carl) says:

He’s actually in Cabo Roig on the Costa Blanca. These old folk!

  28. Twixxo says:

Thanks for giving the heads up on our whereabouts Bedders …. great place mind you. !!
Old folk indeed … we’re inundated with the lucky lucky men .!! Still who’s complaining,.. give you good price. 25 years guarantee….xxx cheers Bedders xx

    • Bedford Wolf (my wife's a quarter Portuguese y'know) says:

It’s the caring side in me coming out! I like to try and help out where I can Twixo especially with the elderly and confused and I understand that it can be a bit of a bugger wandering around in a daze not knowing where you are. If you can get someone to take you there is an Irish bar along the main Cabo Roig ‘strip’ that shows the football and the last time I was there (2010?) the landlord was a Wolves fan.

p.s. at our age do we really need a 25 years guarantee? lol

  29. theDOOGooder says:

    RIP Walter Becker.

    Another one gone.

Steely Dan – great band made some great music.

    • Bedfordshire Old Gold says:

BW and I belting Reelin in the Years when travelling to the Mol. Happy days.

      Just love it.

Yet Another one bites the dust.

  30. Watch clive!
mptto is the great footy team.we both love ofcourse
