Wolves Swoop for Midfielder

I get the feeling this is not going to be news that’s received well amongst the Wolves faithful.

Another new signing and another unheard of foreign player.

French midfielder Adlene Guedioura has arrived on loan from Charleroi (yes, the same club as Geoffrey Mujangi Bia) with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

As has become the norm, here’s a video I’ve dug-up from YouTube.

hmmmm interested to see how he pans out… I like the fact that he seems physical… thats something i think we lack in the midfield area. If his positional play is good and if he manages to overcome the challenges of different league styles then I’m sure hell be quite a good signing. Loving the through balls towards the end!

I’m gonna put my neck out on the line… but if he turns out good…. a possible replacement for henry? Again seems more attacking than henry which we desperately need… but seems to cover the defence ok, but thats from a youtube montage so I cant really tell. (braces for the chop)

On a side note I think that music was the worst I’ve ever heard for a football montage.

does Taff’s ”in-depth scouting” amount to seeing 1 Charleroi game?

    Who?

Another gamble signing – that may or may not work out. Still none of the ‘Premier League’ experience cited by the manager pre-window added to the squad.

(Controversially) I would like to see him played in place of Henry – to see if he can get the ball moving forward more quickly when opposition moves break down. although consistent this season I feel his sideways passing is allowing teams get players behind the ball when we attack. Wigan moved the ball forward far more quickly then we did, and looked dangerous on the attack.

Not the trophy signing I think we were all (and are still) waiting for this transfer window! Get your hand in your pocket Morgan so we can get some quality in and at least have a go in the second half of the season

Yes, it’s a gamble, who knows how he is gonna adapt to the premiership. But that’s the sort of players one can afford to take on loan. We desperately need another right wing, so i’ll be quite dissappointed if we don’t sign one before transfer deadline. In central of the midfield we’re well covered, so it is really a strange priority.

we’ve a week left of the transfer window. surely the Board must show their intent to keep Wolves a premiership club. since promotion, the fact is we’ve only bought one player of premiership quality.
too many rumours ( beattie, johnson, gardener) but too little commitment. Again.

Yeah, I agree with the sentiment here.

However, I reckon he’ll only be affective if he displaces Karl Henry from the starting lineup. There’s no room for Guedioura AND Henry in the centre of midfield as there wouldn’t be enough attack from midfield – which has been our problem all season.

    What’s happened to Castillo?

Looks Ok – good in the air – but no goals I could see and not convinced he will improve us. The standard of football in these videos looks like League 1 at best!

Anyone we sign will have to play WITH Karl Henry who is first to be inked in on the team sheet by Mick.

Surely we have too many players now to keep happy/match fit?

Whatever happened to Castillo and Halford?

Surely fewer numbers and better quality is needed

Totally agree Martin and Will – quality not quantity is required and yet again it has not been delivered.

We seem to be adopting the Barry Fry’s Blues approach – buy as many as we can and hope a few might make it (is Ricky Otto still available on loan?).

Even on loan I bet the two we have signed are being paid reasonably well – and add their wages to those of the Hof and Castillo and we would have a package to tempt a decent player like Beattie to the Molineux.

Aparently Castillo has been abducted by aliens – Halford does not figure because even his long throw is s**t!

I wonder if this signing means someone else will be leaving?

Matt Hill has gone out on loan today (QPR I think) – but I doubt this is related.

Excuse my language, but what the fuck?!

These aren’t premier quality signings. Waste of space and probably about 10k a week. What happened to Beattie and Hunt? Either of those I would run round the town centre naked to sign.

3 Ms have let us down. Wouldn’t be surprised if Morgan leaves if we get relegated. Nice tidy profit he’d have made.

I’m with you Hallam – these signings look like a complete waste of time to me too.

At least they are only on loan (unlike the Hof, Halford and all the others signed in the summer that never get near the first team!).

If Morgan doesn’t trust MM to spend it wisely then he should have got rid and got his own man in – although God knows who that would be. Probably that scouser tw@t Paul Jewell as it’s his mate aparently. I don’t want MM out but he needs the support of the board to bring in players that can make a difference – not just make up the numbers.

We need both quantity and quality. The winger is a great signing, but i’m uncertain about the midfielder. He has to have the ability to move his feet around, that’s for sure. If not he might need some time to adapt. More signings will come… And I would rather see them coming in from european leagues than lower divisions. Just look at Milijas and Zubar – I’m certain they’ll figure as key assets in the next half of the seson. Bring more “frenchmen” in please. There might be some good prospects from Holland too, and what about Adu? His name was mentioned earlier on…

I get where you’re coming from Hallam and I thought the exact same as you when I read the story this morning.

But let’s see what other signings (if any) arrive before the end of January. I expect domestic deals i.e. transfers between Premiership clubs, won’t be completed until right before the deadline.

You never know, we might have added one or two more exciting players.

But if this does turn out to be our lot, like you, I’ll be f****** livid.

Why don’t we wait until he plays before criticising the lad!

You get what you pay for.
    And Doyle backs this up.

What were everyone’s impressions of Geoffrey?
Bit slow for a winger. Just a bit…

I’m with Jed. YouTube scouting is no better than using your 12th season of Championship Manager to assess current form.

Would be good to get some more quality in though nonetheless.

In terms of price, surely I’d imagine one of the reasons that we’ve gone abroad is because the salaries are lower than getting someone in from here.

Hallam isnt it too early to judge whether theyre premier league quality signings? I’m looking straight at Birmingham’s team and theres no way that team justifies their place in the league, yet they play well as a team and thats whats been getting them the points.

Everytime I watch us play I dont get that same sense of team unity, and I’m sure MM is partly to blame here shuffling the team around like a deck of cards every week. The back 4 is looking a lot more stable, although I would like to see stearman off and replaced by zubar or foley, primarily because he’s kept the same combination for some period of time now.

The midfield is another story as they dont seem to do the job of linking the first and final thirds particularly well, and dont harrass the opposition defence at all (apart from jarvis….. but his delivery lets him down). I’m not going to mention karl henry.

If the signings contribute to more team chemistry and more cohesion I’ll be stoked.

another thing; don’t you think it said everything when MM said, after the Palace game that the side he put out were as good as anything in the Championship.
About time we thought and acted like a Premiership club. we’re there by right and shoudnt carry this inferiority complex into every game.
